Pairing: Bucky x Female Reader Word Count: 773 (a drabble, really) Warnings: Fluff. Flirting. A/N: This is for @the-slumberparty's July Monthly Challenge. I picked prompt #9, Cuddling for Warmth.

Your teeth were rattling inside your mouth as you held your arms closer to you. The five layers of blankets and the two layers of hoodies and thermals couldn’t keep the cold from seeping through to you and settling into your bones.

It had been a week since graduation. It was already the beginning of June, but Summer comes late to California. The days were warm, and California nights can get extremely cold. Especially this far north and high in elevation.

“Nugget, if you don’t stop shaking, I’m going to assume you are not cut out for this and I’m gonna drive us both home. OW!” Bucky screamed as you kicked him underneath all the layers. You hated that nickname. It annoyed you so much when he reminded you of how short you were.

“Your feet are freezing, woman! Aren’t you wearing socks?” he scolded you.

“No!” you muffled, hiding underneath your wool scarf. Your toes went on the hunt, seeking his warm calf to seep all the heat from his body.

“Uh, uh. Nope! Stop! You are not-” he swatted your foot away. “You are not warming your icicle toes on me!” You giggled as he successfully kept you at bay on your side of the van.

The vintage Volkwagon Bus, that you managed to spruce up from the many ideas on your Pinterest boards, lacked insulation and calking. Bucky noted and whined as the two of you spent the last week sleeping in the back of the "ice cream truck," as Bucky had once called it.

“You’re lucky cuz Smokey decided to sleep next to you to keep you warm!” You said out loud.

“Ya, he sleeps next to me because he can’t get over how loud your teeth are rattling!” And as if he was agreeing, Smokey let out a small grunt growl.

“Traitor!” you sneered at your dog. Then you pouted, giving Bucky your saddest puppy eyes.

“Don’t!”

“I’m not doing anything!” you pouted some more.

“It’s not gonna work. Instead, what I’ll do- I’ll just drive us both home. Where we can sleep in our own beds. Watch Netflix on my flat screen instead of your iPad. And use indoor plumbing like a modern-day person would!”

Bucky was angry and you can tell. You didn’t think he would get so annoyed. Was that how he felt this whole time? It was only the first week of your two-month-long trip. Would he be like this for the rest of the time? Maybe he’ll give up and just leave you in the middle of the trip to go home.

You heard Bucky sigh and then groan in defeat. He watched you as you spiraled into your thoughts. Your face turned from a sad pout into a depressed frown, trying to mask the feelings you had inside.

The covers lifted, opening the small space in between you. “Get over here.” 

You squealed as you rolled your way into his side, your back to his chest. “What are you 10?” he laughed.

“A lady doesn’t scoot!”

“Ha! But nuggets roll,” he mocked. Your feet sought his bare legs in revenge as he hissed inwardly at the contact from your cold touch.

“Hey, be nice! Be a good girl for me! I’m letting you steal my warmth here!” he growled into your ear.

His phrase caught you off guard. The low gravelly tone tickled something in you. It traveled all the way down to your aching core. Aching and neglected. And soon you didn’t need his body heat anymore. You were making your own! From the sheer bewilderment, you found yourself in.

When was the last time I had sex? Too long ago. That’s probably why you’re feeling this way. You can’t start thinking this way about Bucky! He’s your best friend.

“What’s wrong? Why are you so quiet all of a sudden?” He asked.

“Nothing. I’m just- I’m just trying to get cozy,” you said adjusting and wriggling your body to fit his. He grunted at your movement.

“The sooner you get comfy, the sooner we can all go to sleep!” he chided.

You finally relaxed in his embrace. You could feel the heat from his wide chest on your back keeping you warm and toasty. Soon, you found yourself drifting off to the sounds of his breathing.

You must’ve turned in your sleep. When you woke up that morning, the first thing you saw were Bucky’s sapphiric eyes, heavy with slumber, focused on your lips.

Just kiss me! 

Lord, You did not just think that! OK! First things, first. As soon as you get home from this trip. You are finding yourself a boyfriend.

If you can survive Bucky, that is.

And Embers at Your Lips by @nametheshadows (T, 15k) - sequel to one of my all-time favorite 8th year fics with insomniac roommates just as soft and healing as LLAYF. Gorgeous prose and all the kissing. Highly rec this series for A+ comfort food!

The sequel to Like Lightning at Your Fingertips: the kissing montage. And there’s that thing with Potter’s magic.

Rich Friend, Anon (E, 18k) - one of my faves from Wireless, pop star!Draco never gets old and both the pacing and the romance are perfectly developed! I live for Harry’s horny yearning and for their road trip together, kudos to casual Harry/Neville as a side ship!

As far as Harry can tell, Draco Malfoy is still rich as hell. He’s just not a wizard anymore. Featuring: Draco Malfoy trying to make it as a Muggle pop star, Harry Potter as our confused and horny hero, bad driving, good music, and the mysterious magic of falling for someone.

Waking Up Slow, Anon (E, 22k) - this ode to advent Drarry fics took my breath away with a charming Draco, fun dynamics, an enchanting Christmas shop and one of the sexiest smut scenes I’ve read this year, 10/10 recommend for hot & sweet magical vibes and lots of references as an homage to the classics!

We Are Legend by Vaysh (E, 38k) - happy to report to @romaine2424 that I have finally read this epic apocalypse AU and am shooketh with its originality and serious tone. One of the most creative takes I’ve seen on animagus Draco, a poignant and devastating war story.

Eighty years into the future, Voldemort won. Harry Potter is a renegade wizard, Portkeying Muggles out of London to Hogwarts, last sanctuary in a Britain ruled by the Dark Lord. On a mission he encounters a powerful phoenix Animagus fighting on the Death Eaters' side. He recognises Draco Malfoy whom he thought long dead. But the differences between them are perhaps even greater than before. Cw: MCD

LA, Who Am I To Love You?, Anon (E, 42k) - I cannot believe this beauty was written for my lil Wireless prompt ♥️ perfect LA vibes, gorgeous aesthetics, horny ust and a fascinating take on both down and out bi Harry and out and proud bi Draco, we love to see it! Couldn’t have asked for a better story to fill my prompt, ty anon!

Harry’s summer in LA is not going as expected. Pansy Parkinson keeps inviting him to parties in the Hollywood Hills and harassing him to finally go to the physical therapist, Blaise Zabini keeps slipping new strains of his company’s magical weed into Harry’s pockets in hopes of an endorsement, and Draco Malfoy keeps having sex with everyone but Harry.

Rare Pairs

A Different Tune by November Snowflake (M, 8k) - very nice Dron get together, short & sweet with an undercurrent melancholy that I love, just what I needed before bed

Working in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office has led Ron to many strange encounters--but none more unexpected than this one. Cw: Harry’s dead

The Years Between by brummell (M, 14k) - another rare pair fave, this Rarry fic told from Ron’s smitten and jealous pov as he helps Harry recover from a coma is so deliciously raw and angsty. Gorgeous slow burn, the feels!

For both Harry and Ron, a wake-up call is just the beginning.

Things Remembered by avioleta (E, 17k) - best Snarry fic I’ve read this year, I’m low key obsessed with this hitmen + amnesia concept and how the romance develops so organically while they’re on the run. Intriguing plot, sexy ust and super scorching smut that made me salivate jfc 🔥

Harry wakes up in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar hotel room, and with absolutely no idea who he is. The man he’s in bed with has no memories either. But they think, maybe, they’re assassins, because they seem to be very good at killing people.

A Dress with Pockets by PacificRimbaud (E, 25k) - a Panville classic recced by anon (ty!!), what a sexy and vibrant read! I LOVED Neville and their dynamics are brilliant and so funny, I just couldn’t get enough of these characters. 100% sold on this ship pls and thank

Back in October 2019, Nick Briggs (exec producer at Big Finish) confirmed and denied a bunch of things that they were planning at Big Finish.

Of course... 6 months later a lot of plans changed. I made a post about the original stuff back in the day, so lets see how much of it came to fruition!

Things that were "Definitely happening"

"A new series of Dalek Empire" - well, they made Dalek Universe! But.... that has the doctor, and it doesn't have the dalek empire vibe, which is all about what happens when the doctor isn't around to stop a dalek invasion. So no this hasn't happened.

"Charlotte Pollard Series 3" - No - Still delayed, still not released. But Charlotte has been in a couple of recent things, so its possible they've recorded it recently!

"UNIT" - ah yes, at the time the UNIT series had concluded with no news of if it was going to continue - it was in limbo, and peeps were concerned it was cancelled. After 2019, it came back for a storyline called "Nemesis", so yes this came back. Now that Nemesis is over, we are yet again in a limbo where we don't know if the series will continue.

"1st Doctor Adventures" - yes! We got more of these, now with Noonan in the role!

"3rd Doctor Adventures" - yes these are still being made

"Further Adventures of Lucie Miller" - No - nothing since the last set in July of 2019.

"Missy" - yes, series 2 and 3 were released and series 4 is coming out next year.

"Lost Stories" - yes, miraculously they somehow found more unfinished stories to turn into audio dramas.

"Eighth Doctor Adventures: Stranded" - yes, and 2019 was before the first ep of stranded came out but oh boy were there troubles for this series. The first 4 episodes were recorded before the pandemic, and then the remainder had to be delayed and shifted around in the schedule a lot. But they did release it!

"Classic Doctors, New Monsters" - yes, two new boxsets.

So 7 out of 10 of the Definitely Happening announcements came to fruition.

Things that were planned

"Both Alex Macqueen and Derek Jacobi as the Master" - yes, the war master series with Jacobi is still going on, but Macqueen has only appeared once: in 2021 with the boxset "Masterful"

"Narvin" - yes, has appeared in 2023's Gallifrey box set.

"Matt Smith knows that he can approach [...] to do stories [with Big Finish]" - Woops... This isn't really a planned thing, it's just a statement. Matt Smith has not joined the audio dramas yet.

"3rd Doctor Adventures with Liz Shaw" - yes this happened in a couple of the recent 3das.

"Jago appearances" - yes Jago has appeared in a couple of things, like the Paternoster Gang series.

"Jenny (the Doctor's Daughter)" - yes she came back for another boxset.

"Rose [Tyler]" - yes there's been 2 more boxsets with Rose.

"Davros" - yes he's come back a few times.

"Torchwood Series 7" - yes. This is referring to "The Story Continues", the audio continuation of Torchwood, with seasons set after the show. Series 5 was "Aliens Among Us" from 2017, Series 6 was "God Among Us" from 2018, and Series 7 was "Among Us" and finally came out in 2023. I'm not sure if they're planning to make a Series 8, I'm not really on the pulse of Torchwood - let me know!

"Re-arranging the Monthly Adventures" - yes. This is the one that fascinates me the most! Because at the time of my original post, we still didn't know what they meant by this. I remember at the time people mourning the Monthly Adventures (or "Main Range" as it was originally known), as that was how they got into the audios in the first place. I think the changes they made are much better - instead of having the 5th, 6th, and 7th doctors crammed into one range, they each have their own sections on the site. And all the Doctors feel on the same level now, and it's easier to get into. Plus: you can now just pre-order a single doctor's releases in a bundle, if you only want that doctor's stuff.

"Subscriber Short Trips" - Sort of. This is an interesting one, because with the end of the monthly adventures there aren't any subscriptions anymore. So the Subscriber Short Trips specifically are gone. Replacing them is something much more interesting in my opinion: the first boxset for each of the 5th, 6th, and 7th doctors each year has included a bonus 1 hour audiobook. I like this system because it makes it possible to get these audio books without having to specifically subscribe to a specific period of monthly audio books - with the subscriber short trips, you could only get them by subscribing! You couldn't get them by just buying something! Plus, I've liked the audio books I've heard so far.

"Constance Clarke" - Yes, she appeared in a few of the last Monthly Adventures before the range stopped, and also in the special boxset "The Eleven". She hasn't been seen for a while, though, as the 6th Doctor now has Hebe Harrison as a new companion, so they're focusing on her story arc.

"Vicki, Steven, and Dodo joining the First Doctor range" - Mostly - Dodo is the main companion in the recent 1das, Vicki is coming back in this month's boxset (January 2024), but Steven hasn't made an appearance yet.

So 10 out of 12 planned things did happen, with the other 2 being mostly as planned.

Things they had no plans to do

"A torchwood + cybermen story" - Nope.

"Class Volume 3" - Yes, they've done volumes 3 AND 4.

"Iris Wildthyme" - Sort of, she's been in some audiobooks but not in any proper dramas.

"Sarah Jane Adventures characters" - Yes, in the recent "Rani Takes on the World" series from 2023.

"Ace and Benny together" - No, I don't believe so.

"Raine" - Nope.

"David Tennant" - Yes he was in a lot of things over the pandemic.

"Multi-meddling monk story" - Yes, this happened in Missy series 3 in "Two Monks, One Mistress".

"The Rani" - No, as previously noted the Rani is still stuck in a tangle of Rights issues.

"Clara and (Lady) Me series" - Nope - was noted as a great idea back in 2019, but I'm sure that the actors are busy with other things.

"Frobisher" - Sadly no.

"Graceless" - Yes - the series didn't come back, but the main characters came back in "The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Wicked Sisters".

"Romana III" - Nope.

"Novel Adaptions" - No. This is one of the things that is very weird: fans vocally want more adaptions of the VNA novels from the 90s, and Big Finish want to make them. But.... Nick Briggs has said that they don't sell for some reason, despite being one of the most commonly asked for series. I doubt this will come back at all.

"New Series Lost Stories" - Nope.

"Shalka Doctor" - Nope.

"Mel and Glitz" - No, and sadly the actor for Glitz passed away in 2021, which makes this unlikely.

So 5 out of 17 things they had no plans for actually did end up happening.

Things they said Will Not Happen

"Lungbarrow adaption" - No of course not lol.

"Anniversary boxsets for 3rd/5th Doctor/the Master/etc" - Sort of - at the time, Nick said "Almost every year is an anniversary of something or someone now". But since then we've had an anniversary boxset for the Master, as well as a semi-special boxset for the 40th anniversary of the 5th doctor (albeit this was just a normal release that was a bit anniversary-like)

So one sort of out of 2 definitely not happening things.

Things they said "Just Imagine..."

(which means "we're not going to answer that right now for marketing reasons")

"More unbound" - Yes, the Doctor of War boxsets which came out in 2022.

"Marc Cory (from Mission to the Unknown)" - No, but the elements of Mission to the Unknown appeared in Dalek Universe (which is probably why they didn't talk about it).

"Eric Roberts and John Simm as The Master" - Yes! Roberts has his own little series called "Master!", and both of them showed up in the "Masterful" boxset in 2021. It was heavily implied in behind the scenes stuff that Simm is not planning to show up ever again, so that may be the only time we get a Simm audio.

"Class Series 2" - Sort of. This is referring to continuing the story of Class from after the end of the TV show, which they originally couldn't do for rights reasons. The 2023 drama "Secret Diary of a Rhodian Prince" was set after the TV show, but is so far the only episode to do so.

"More incarnations of the Master" - Yes, Milo Parker played the Master in "Masterful", but nothing otherwise.

"Lady Christina Volume 2" - Yes.

"New Earth Volume 2" - No.

"The Nine/Eleven/Twelve/more incarncations of the character" - Yes, in fact this character has appeared very frequently over the last few years and I'm starting to get sick of them.

"Delta and the Bannermen sequel" - No? I'm not sure what this was referring to, but neither Delta nor the Bannermen have returned.

"Jo meeting Missy" - Yes, this happened in "Masterful".

So 6 out of these 10 happened.

"I'll look into that"

"Availability of The Veiled Leopard and Sarah Jane Smith: Comeback" - Comeback is now available on the website, after many years out of print. The Veiled Leopard is not available on the big finish site in general, I think there's some complex issues there. They occasionally make it available for free as a bonus special thing for a special occasion, and you can also listen to it on their soundcloud page.

"Limited Edition Vinyls on the website" - When they did vinyls for the 9das, those were available on the website, so this did end up happening.

And that's it! Interesting to see how much changed (and how much didn't) between October 2019 and now.

Monthly Gets: Reverse 1999 Edition

LostWord has become more boring than it already is (events now last three weeks instead of two, and it's been six months since we got any new characters that weren't those cowardly "Genic" units) so I'm into Reverse 1999 now.

I started this game in Patch 1.4. I started with Eternity and Bkornblume, slowly built up a party of regulars (An-an Lee, Balloon Party, Charlie, 37, 6, Jiu and Tooth Fairy). I think my account is in a pretty good place thanks to this patch.

Brand New:

Isolde: Got her in about 10 pulls (I had pity built up and I won the 50/50). I really needed a Spirit character, Isolde solves that problem. She's the last meta character I intend to pull.

Voyager: I was trying to get Shamane to solve my party's Beast DPS problem. I "lost" the pity to Voyager but this ended up being a happy accident, as Voyager was VERY helpful for the late July/early August Limbo. I got her all the way to R10 this patch.

Marcus: I used the leftover pity from trying to get Shamane to guarantee Marcus. I really wanted Marcus just because of how good she was in 1.7/Chapter 6's main story, even though I have no plans to get Vila.

Blonney / Horropedia: I randomly got them while getting Shamane/Voyager. Neither seems that good and I have strong attackers in both of their elements anyway, so I haven't touched them.

Other:

Maxed Out Eagle: I had her at R9 for a long time. Getting Isolde and her powerful debuff (which allows for easy Crits for Eagle) is why I ultimately got her to R10. It's great, Eagle is now a legit nuke.

R10 Tennant: I tried to fix my Beast DPS problem with Tennant, who I've always liked. Unfortunately, Tennant is just not cutting it as a DPS character. We still stan Tennant here, but it does suck that I *still* have a Beast DPS problem.

Insight 2 X / Zima: After this patch's Limbo, I decided to put some levels towards X and Zima. I'll eventually run into a fight where Voyager will have Afflatus disadvantage, so it'll be good to have a backup Sealer/Silencer.

Insight 3 Yenisei: Another character I leveled up to make my party more balanced. I got her in the last patch, but realized it would be good to have her, since she has Cleanse/Immunity (which has been a problem for certain fights).

Next Month Plans:

I'm just gonna save up for Kakania in 1.9. I'm not interested in any of the 1.8 characters or Lucy. If I have any leftovers I might go for Joe in 2.0? Since I still REALLY need that 6* Beast DPS character. I don't feel bad about not pulling for a whole patch, since 1.9 is gonna be giving us two free characters (one of them even works with my mid Eternity).

Sorry for the late update this month! I spiraled getting the Hanasu script done, and by the time I realized it half the month had already passed by…how time flies…

WHAT DID I DO?

I ended up working on almost all of my active projects this month, haha!

For Actala, I did… a lot of things, to be honest. I was so set on finishing that I kind of stopped keeping track at a certain point. I finished 10 sprites, including significant redesigns for Faye, Liam, and Shizu. I also did a couple of backgrounds and CGs, and animated most of the CGs that I had done up until that point.

Ultimately, while I did do quite a bit for Actala, I decided to postpone the demo update, as I wouldn't be able to get out a demo with a reasonable scope within the jam time frame (even if I had released Chapter 1, it would have been abbreviated from what I really wanted to release).

For The Deepwater Witch, I made a trailer, fixed up the Steam build, and participated in Steam Next Fest!

For MindMindMind, I fixed up the build for Steam and set it live! I also figured out how to set up DLC.

For Hanasu (the last part of the Karamu trilogy), I had hit a writing roadblock, so I revisited the outline from scratch and reoutlined it. In total I wrote around 20k words for the script during June. I also worked more on the Karamu and Kanau localizations.

I also started development in earnest on my Mythology VN Project, The Perfect Woman, near the end of the month! I collected references and designed the main GUI and did some color palette concepts for the game.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR JULY?

ALAS, July is 2/3 of the way done already, but better late than never! This month, I'm focusing on The Perfect Woman's assets and voice acting casting call. I'm also finishing/finalizing the Hanasu script, in addition to steadily working on the Actala assets.

In the latter part of the month, I'll be polishing the Hanasu script and resuming work on the writing for a secret project! In addition, I'll be working on the coding for The Perfect Woman, as I'd like to be a little more experimental with it than with my other games!

New BL/shounen ai webtoon tier list

it’s been a while, I’m still working on the monthly favorites for june and july but I wont have it done anytime soon because I’m preparing for a convention this week. Instead, you are going to get the new BL tier list with some new titles 

I have mentioned in my last monthly favorites that I wanted to do a new one because it has been a long time since then and I have read more.

You will see some new stuff and some rankings change from the old ones, I included titles that I have read/ remembered from reading and discarded the ones I no longer have any connection to.

most I have finished but found it under whelming, lack of character development, plot moving very slowly, not really anything spectacular.

not to say that these aren’t good in their own way but there has to be a line that separates the good stories from the ones that are okay right? some I have in my favorites are in this tier because I’m trying to be really critical when I think about the story overall now that its done...

i’ll list the series and tell you why I feel that way in case you are wondering

Painter from the window - I don’t remember much about this, the end didn’t really make sense to me and I don’t think I finished the entire story, I might have lost some interest in between

insecret - I liked the side story better than the mains story, if it was based on that this would have been higher 

Dangerous convenient store- basic story overall not a lot of interesting plot other than near the end, the pacing is okay in terms of relationship development 

Lucky paradise - pacing is slow and not a lot of development from chunwoo, which I don’t really get why he does the things he does, he really needed character development a lot sooner for me to be interested 

Secret relationships - 90% flashbacks 10 % story lol. i’m sure all bimsa fans will agree that the story took a while to move forward cause all we got was one flash back after another and no expansion on the characters in the current timeline.

Dear door - I just got bored in the middle 

My suha - season1, 2 were great in terms of plot, the last season moved really slowly and made a lot of people lose interest, there’s also a ton of misunderstanding, but that’s nothing new in BL

Hide and seek- I would put this higher if it wasn’t for the conflict being miniscule, it really does not pair well with the whole mystery behind the story. I also have not read this again after the second time so it was not very memorable. 

omega complex - good characters and development, no dumb love triangles..lol. which is the best part cause I hate those, the main guy yoonwoo was like I only like 1 person if you aren’t him don’t talk to me...lmao I appreciate it. overall it’s a short story but that’s all it is. 

MDZS - this may surprise you cause this is what got me to read BL and took over my life, but in terms of manhwa the pacing is slow and I liked the drama better than the actual webtoon

Seeing double - twins and love triangle....uh nope...I just wish there was more explanation is to how ohn ended up liking seowoo...I’m happy cause that’s my ship, but I felt there was a disconnect there when he realized his feelings...I’m like wtf ...how?

Updated QSMP AO3 Work Language Stats-- as of August 13th, 2023

Another QSMP language stats update!! Not too much to update on this time, but still some nice numbers.

Fun tidbits/disclaimers to start:

QSMP has 3034 works as of today!! That's 887 more works from last month's 2147, about a 41.3% increase.

French fics have doubled from 5 works to 10!

PT Portuguese has now been tagged in two works!

We've dropped one Mandarin fic, likely due to deletion.

I used the same methodology as last time, which was to manually filter by each language I expected to have works, then do the math to make sure I wasn't missing any and check likely new languages. You can check the original June 6 post to see more about that.

I won't be including overall AO3 stats, as the monthly difference for them is negligible imo. In the future, if I continue to do this for the next year or so, I'll likely pick it up again to note the difference in the last year, or perhaps make a new series of posts about language statistics across the site rather than fandom specific.

Not much change this month! Most numbers have stayed fairly steady; I won't have much analysis as a result.

Spanish has 406 works and 13.38% of total works.

Brazilian Portuguese has 113 works and 3.72% of total works.

French has 10 works and 3.72% of total works-- the number of French fics has doubled since last month, although it's still quite low in comparison to the other languages spoken on the server.

New entry! European Portuguese now has 2 works and 0.07% of total works.

Mandarin has 2 works and 0.07% of total works; it previously had 3 works, one was likely deleted.

Russian has 2 works and 0.07% of total works, no change in number from last month.

The last three languages, Latin, Esperanto, and Malaysian Malay, all have 1 work and 0.03% of total works respectively, maintaining their numbers from last month as well.

Observations:

Like I said at the start, not much change here. The most impressive things to note are that French has doubled in number and European Portuguese now has works, neither of which are surprising. Kudos to those authors regardless, glad to see them gaining fics!!

I'll add my usual note that the stats for QSMP are interesting to compare to overall AO3 stats for the reason that we have far more Spanish and Portuguese works than the rest of the site. If you want to see numbers on total site stats, check out the previous stats posts to see those.

And that's pretty much all I've got!! I'll likely continue to post these every month, but when there's not a ton of changes they'll likely be short little posts like this with mostly just the numbers. I got the job!!

The bariatric clinic called me yesterday.

I thought they were calling about a second interview, asking for references, something like that.

NOPE

They offered me the job, at $4/hr more than I make now!

HOOOLY CRAP. This is AWESOME. It’s also a little scary. They want a 2-year commitment (years are uncertain with cancer) and they’re definitely gonna drop that extra $4/hr of work on me, but...

I’ll have a good team behind me.

I’ll be doing work that I want to do, that feels important, that feels more like working than drowning in calls. (Even on the busiest 911 days, even when I took the 60-80 calls per day I take now, there was a damn good reason)

If I’m right, and I’ll be actively looking for reasons I am, this will be the best of badging office work (a team, face to face interaction, out of the house enrichment because this zoo animal needs it) and the call center (healthcare, genuinely improving lives, and no fucking stairs).

I have metastatic breast cancer. On a practical level, that means I'm tired all the time from treatment and my life will probably be shorter than yours.

I live with my husband, my son Jay, my cat Soba (shown), and my corgi Momo in the Denver metro area.

I have no picture of Jay for you. He's 15, trans, and hates getting his photo posted. He likes getting his photo taken, and I have plenty of photos of him, but he's not about being on Mom's socials. I respect that.

To herald the coming new year, I thought it appropriate to go over some of our achievements from the last year and see how far we've come in the development of An Immortal Laid to Rest.

Now, when I was writing this, I was taking into account milestones that were completed during my tumblr hiatus last year. This will be more of a year-and-a-half in review, but I still find it important to have these accomplishments written out.

So let's take a look at them, shall we?

It took: 379 days / 12 months and 14 days to complete Draft 0. 375 days / 12 months, 10 days to complete Draft 1. 332 days / 10 months, 29 days to complete Draft 2. We are currently 107 days/ 3 months, 16 days into the writing of Draft 3.

It has been 1275 days/ 3 years, 5 months, 27 days since Project : Desert began.

Reflection

Seeing accomplishments laid out like this puts into perspective how much I've managed to do in the last three and a half years. From a short story in a zine to a novella in the making— I guess I'm just proud of making it this far.

But most of all, it tells how I need to be a lot easier on myself. I tend to get caught up in my work and berate myself for not working hard enough. In the moment, I can't see the work that has been done and how it adds up to the final product.

With that thought in mind, it's with a heavy heart to say I won't be doing the Mid Monthly Report anymore. What started as a way for me to see how much art and writing I managed to do in the span of a month has evolved into deadlines of work that hasn't been done; work that's fallen behind. And it's hard to keep up with on top writing and just generally life.

I don't think MMRs will be gone forever. I plan to start utilizing quarterly reports to keep y'all in the loop of what's happening. But for the time being, this will be the last proper Mid Monthly Report for awhile.

It's been a good time, y'all and I'm incredibly thankful to have y'all be on this journey with me.

MAY yippie!! toontown oc! was playing ttcc w/shard and co, this is the character i ended up making i also got covid around april-march iirc so i was feeling horrid for a while (and the remaining symptoms didnt clear up till like june)

JUNE an oc i got years ago but didnt have the confidence to draw for a while lmao anyways i like her colors and shape, she's fun

JULY mandatory artfight posting this was one of the last ones i did! ocs belong to pookapooka and they were so fun to paint

idk if ill be doing artfight again tbh. ive been doing it consistently since sun vs moon but its honestly felt less fun ever since the tiktok invasion`and how ppls behavior has changed, and especially since the whole ownership thing that happened mid fight this year. (not interested in any of the alternatives ive seen either bc they have the same issues, notably worse issues, or are not furry friendly) but tbh that might just be me being disenchanted with online art spaces due to the intensifying shittification of basically everything, fucking rip

AUGUST ring but hes going to jail (again but for real this time) the staxie monthly prompt was barbie mugshots but i . . . i did this with ring and lumos and promptly forgor to do this with cakes and ale like i was planning to lmfao im actually gonna watch the barbie movie tonight, renting it so i can watch it on the big tv (didnt watch in theaters bc expensive (movie tickets are generally 15-25 bucks in my area (compared to the 5-10 in my aunt's area (renting is cheaper per person)), and they changed the chairs to these weird uncomfy pleather recliners that make my skin crawl to "justify the price raise" + i hate sitting for more than an hour i need water, bathroom, stretch, and snack breaks))

SEPTEMBER ganache went over the hedge was very busy w/projects so i did little casual art this was inspired by me comparing the over the hedge version of supermarket by ben folds (upbeat & high energy) vs the one by the clash (melancholy + commercial-induced agony) ever since then i cant stop thinking abt how much the lemon demon guy's voice sounds like the fucking clash guy sdjkhfkjsd also over the hedge was one of my favorite movies as a kid and i watched it at least 10 times before we had to return the dvd to netflix. i also regularly played the flash games on the site until i forgot about it after finding out about miniclip + notdoppler from other kids and decided to use those for flash games instead bc more options lol

OCTOBER dta img for a new oc i got, funny long neck budgie thingy busy w/projects again so little casual art had to use old mini tablet bc previous tablet was completely unusable fucking rip

July 🕶 2023 Monthly - Cancer

Feelings of shame come up when we feel we are “bad”, guilt comes up when we feel something we’ve done is “bad”. If another person no longer chooses to be in our lives, due to what’s been said or done in total honesty, it’s not our fault, it is their choice. This signifies a turn in your destiny. You are moving in a new direction towards freedom, and this opens the gateway towards more rewarding relationships in life.

Upcoming Stories

I currently have two stories in the works based off of last month's polls. First up we have a feeder fairy turning her host into as much as a slob as herself. After that, will be the unholy fusion of a pig, a dragon, and Tharja from Fire Emblem. In addition to those, there's also the usual output of commissioned stories as they're finished. $3 and up Patrons will have early access to these stories as they come out.

Prompt Requests

The Color Wheel Bounty Prompt Request session is no longer accepting submissions. That being said, I'm going to keep pecking away at it until I manage to fill up. I'll go through some of the requests that have already been sent in, but I may make calls for specific bounties if I need some more ideas.

Hey, what did I say? I knew we would get so see a glimpse of him at the D23 Expo.

The Secret Invasion trailer was released and we saw Martin as Everett Ross for about 1,5 seconds (a big improvement compared to the Black Panther 2 teaser :D ).

But that’s not all. Martin was also spotted (yes, a REAL spotting) in Atlanta 3 days ago (but the photo was only discovered today, thanks to @colourfulwatson and @safedistancefrombeingsmart ^^ ) Time for a celebration!

Inspired by @elennemigo​‘s monthly reports of Benedict Cumberbatch, I decided to do something similar for Martin. Fortunately(?), sightings of Martin are pretty rare these days, so these posts shouldn’t be too long and my inner laziness does not feel threatened. ;)

My #1 post of 2022

Martin Freeman spotter

This blog is not to be taken seriously. It’s just that sometimes (haha) Martin has the tendency to disappear for days (if we’re lucky) and even weeks or longer. Which -of course- he has every right to do so. He loves his privacy and as a fan I can and want to respect that.

I had the idea for something like this for a while now, and actually wanted to create it today. OF COURSE Martin decides to make a reappearance today. lol

Saves me the time and effort to count back the days to when he was last seen somewhere: public appearances, promo work, fan photos, bts photos, release dates and yes, even pap photos.

How does this blog work:

Every time we get to see new content of Martin (and that can be anything, really, except for artwork)), the counter resets. I will try to update daily, but I can’t promise anything. Feel free to contact me, if I missed an appearance.

This blog won’t contain any new content, it’s just a counter basically.

Monthly challenge: January – use up items in freezer and pantry. SUCCESS February - Limit eating out. Goal was to only go out once per week and then I had fridge issues. Partial success. March - No using credit cards (except for my internet bill and emergencies). SUCCESS April - The month of completion: Finish Golden Gate Bridge latch hook, Franmouche latch hook, and four other items in the to-be completed box. May - Continuation of April. Also a failure June - Apply to four new jobs, do 10 continuing education credits. July - I ... don’t think I set a challenge. Off month then XD August - Decluttering Challenge: remove one item the first, two the second, and so on. I only made it through Day 18 with my running total. Going to September. September - Decluttering Challenge part 2: Finish up the challenge from August. Do one home improvement/decorating idea. Don’t add to the clutter (i.e. nothing comes in except for gifts that are outgoing and groceries or other needed items like an air filter). October - Be more active. First two weeks: once per week activity of 20+ minutes. Last weeks: twice per week of 20+ activity. November - I got a new job, so I’ll say that counts for something. December - Finish CPE credits - SUCCESS
