Rock the Beach This Christmas with Nauti But Nice Apparel
"Nautical Anchor Beach – Nauti But Nice" is a playful phrase that combines maritime themes with a cheeky pun. This concept evokes images of sun-soaked beaches, sailing adventures, and coastal living, all wrapped up in a lighthearted, slightly mischievous package.
Buy now:19.95$
The nautical anchor, a symbol of stability and strength at sea, serves as the central motif. It represents not just maritime culture, but also the idea of being grounded or "anchored" even in a fun, vacation-like atmosphere.
"Nauti But Nice" is a clever wordplay on "naughty but nice," suggesting a balance between fun-loving behavior and good-natured charm. This phrase captures the essence of beach culture – relaxed, fun, and a bit daring, but still maintaining a friendly, approachable vibe.
This concept would be perfect for beach-themed merchandise like t-shirts, tote bags, or seaside decor. It appeals to those who love coastal living, sailing enthusiasts, and anyone with an appreciation for witty marine-inspired humor.

The idea also conjures up images of laid-back beach bars, breezy sailing trips, and sun-drenched days by the shore. It's a celebration of the carefree spirit associated with beach life, while the anchor motif keeps it firmly rooted in nautical tradition.
Christmas in July is a whimsical celebration that brings the joy and festivities of the holiday season to the heart of summer. This unofficial holiday, typically observed in the Southern Hemisphere, allows people to experience Christmas cheer without the cold weather.
Participants often engage in traditional Christmas activities like gift-giving, decorating, and festive feasts, but with a summer twist. Think Santa in swim trunks, ornament-adorned palm trees, and barbecues instead of roast dinners.
For businesses, it's an opportunity for mid-year sales and promotions. Many stores offer special deals, mimicking the shopping frenzy of the actual holiday season.
Buy now
The concept also appeals to those in the Northern Hemisphere as a fun way to break up the summer months. It's embraced by communities, vacation resorts, and even some television networks that air Christmas specials during July.
Christmas Eve Gift Ideas encompass a range of thoughtful presents perfect for exchanging on the night before Christmas. These often include cozy pajamas for Christmas morning, festive ornaments to hang on the tree, or special books to read together as a family. Some opt for holiday-themed treats like gourmet hot chocolate sets or

cookies. Personalized items such as stockings or tree decorations are also popular. For children, small toys or games can build excitement for Santa's arrival. These gifts are typically smaller and more intimate than the main presents opened on Christmas Day.

another stocking stuffer request, a grumpy quinn leaving all of his holiday shopping and wrapping to the last minute 💚
thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
.
“I hate Christmas.”
You pressed your lips together, trying to bite back the grin that was threatening to take over your face.
“I’m serious. What a stupid time of the year.”
You snorted, quickly pressing your hand over your mouth when Quinn turned his head to shoot you a look.
“You think this is funny,” he said, his eyes narrowing a little at the way your hand dropped to reveal your smile.
“Because it is funny,” you retorted with a shrug, shamelessly enjoying the view of him from the passenger seat. “And you do this every single year.”
Quinn frowned. “I do not.”
“Babe, you do,” you laughed, reaching over to place your hand on his thigh to give it a comforting squeeze. “Despite me warning you this will happen every time.”
There were a handful of things you could rely on during the festive season: overpriced seasonal snacks, bustling crowds and Quinn Hughes procrastinating his gift shopping until the last possible moment because he hated not being good at something and—in his eyes—not knowing what to get everyone was the equivalent of losing.
Every year, you would offer to help him.
And every year, he denied your help because he was insistent he could do it himself.
And then every year, you would find yourself joining him in some last minute shopping so he could send out gifts to his family on time.
“Which one do you think they will like?”
You glanced between the two jackets in his hands. “Didn’t you buy them jackets?”
“Jersey is cold,” Quinn answered with a shrug.
Your lips twitched. “Babe, you can’t just buy the first semi-reasonable thing.”
“They would never know,” Quinn grumbled but shoved the jackets back onto the rack before walking deeper into the store.
“C’mon,” you playfully nudged your shoulder against his, slipping your hands together as you narrowly avoided being trampled down by a few kids running around. “You know your brothers better than anyone else. We will find the perfect gifts, wrap them up and have them posted before morning practice tomorrow.”
Quinn hummed before squeezing your hand. “Thank you.”
You turned to him. “For what? Coming up with a plan?”
“For helping me every year,” he replied honestly, his lips twitching a little when you smiled at him.
“Anything for my favourite Christmas grump,” you teased, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek.
Quinn groaned as you tugged him along. “I am not a grump, everyone agrees it’s a horrible time of year to shop!”
“Walk and talk, baby, walk and talk.”

— the best gift | alessia russo 🎄
find the twelve days of Christmas masterlist here!
You sat on the couch, nervously fidgeting with the ribbon on the small, neatly wrapped box in your lap. Alessia was in the kitchen humming a soft tune, pouring two mugs of hot chocolate—her Christmas Eve tradition—and completely unaware of the surprise you were about to spring on her.
Your heart raced as you thought about the tiny test inside the box, wrapped in tissue paper. You hadn’t planned on testing early. The clinic had been so firm about waiting the full two weeks after the embryo transfer, but the anticipation had been eating at you. This morning, while Alessia was out picking up last-minute stocking stuffers, you’d caved.
You’d stared at the test for what felt like an eternity, your hands trembling as two faint pink lines began to appear. Positive. It was positive.
Now, hours later, the excitement bubbled in your stomach, but so did the nerves. You’d wanted this for so long—both of you had—but the journey hadn’t been easy. The setbacks, the disappointment, the negative tests, the constant rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak… all of it led to this moment. And now, the one thing left to do was tell Alessia.
“Hot chocolate’s ready!” Alessia’s voice called, pulling you out of your thoughts.
She entered the room, carrying the mugs carefully, her face lighting up when she saw you sitting by the tree. Her blonde hair was loose around her shoulders, and her cheeks were flushed, either from the warmth of the kitchen or the happiness that radiated off her every time you were together.
“You look suspiciously cosy,” she teased, setting the mugs on the coffee table before plopping down beside you.
You smiled, doing your best to play it cool. “Just waiting for you. It’s Christmas Eve, remember? We’re supposed to open our gifts to each other.”
Alessia grinned. “You’re really sticking to this ‘midnight gift’ tradition, huh?”
“It’s tradition for a reason,” you shot back, holding out the little box in your hands.
Her eyes flicked to the gift, her brow furrowing slightly. “Wait, I thought we were doing the big ones tomorrow?”
“This is a little one,” you said, your voice trembling slightly despite your best efforts.
Alessia gave you a curious smile but took the box, her fingers brushing yours. “Alright. Let’s see what this ‘little one’ is all about.”
You watched her carefully as she untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. The tissue paper crinkled softly as she pulled it back, revealing the test inside.
For a moment, she froze, her eyes locked on the object in her hand. Then, slowly, she looked up at you, her lips parting as if she were about to speak but couldn’t quite find the words.
“Is this…?” she started, her voice barely a whisper.
You nodded, tears already pooling in your eyes. “It’s positive, Less. I took it this morning. I know I wasn’t supposed to test yet, but I couldn’t wait, and—”
Before you could finish, Alessia launched herself at you, her arms wrapping around you so tightly that it knocked the breath out of your lungs. Her face was buried in your shoulder, and you could feel the dampness of her tears against your skin.
“You’re pregnant?” she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion.
“I’m pregnant,” you confirmed, your own tears spilling over as you held her close.
Alessia pulled back just enough to cup your face in her hands, her eyes shining with a mix of disbelief and pure, unfiltered joy. “We’re having a baby?”
You laughed, nodding. “We’re having a baby.”
For a moment, neither of you said anything. Alessia leaned in, pressing her forehead against yours as her thumbs brushed away the tears on your cheeks.
“This is the best Christmas gift I’ve ever gotten,” she said softly, her voice filled with so much love it made your heartache.
“I thought you might say that,” you teased, your laughter breaking the tension as Alessia let out a watery laugh of her own.
She looked down at the test again, shaking her head like she couldn’t quite believe it. “I don’t even know what to say. This is… incredible.”
You placed a hand over hers, your fingers lacing together. “I just wanted to tell you in a way you’d never forget.”
“Oh, I’ll never forget this,” Alessia promised, her eyes meeting yours. “This is everything we’ve ever dreamed of.”
As the two of you sat there, wrapped in each other’s arms with the faint glow of the Christmas tree surrounding you, it felt like the world had paused just for this moment. Your journey had been long and full of challenges, but now, as Alessia kissed you and whispered how much she loved you, it was clear: this was the start of something even more beautiful than you’d ever imagined.

mistletoe w/ matt ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱
୨ৎ pure fluff!!, bf!matt x sweet!reader, pet names, kissing.
୨ৎ wc: 480
On christmas eve day, you’re out doing some last minute shopping. Buying things for white elephant, secret santa, and stocking stuffers. Matt had insistedhe would stay home and decorate, which you trusted him with.
After long hours of walking around the mall, picking up gifts for every friend, and obviously getting a cinnabon for matt, you decide it’s time to head home. Minutes before you arrive matt had finished up decorating, leaving the sneaky green bundle of herbs hanging infront of the door.
You twist your key into the door, struggling from the obscene amount of bags piled on your arms. When you finally unlock the door matt practically sprung up from the couch, walking up to the front door. “hey doll, how was shopping?” he greets sweetly, chuckling under his breath at the sight of the shopping bags. “wonderful, can you grab a few?” you say holding out a few bags to him. “of course baby, no worries.” he chuckles taking the bags setting them off to the side in the house. “no peeking matt!” you state walking fully into the house, setting the rest of the bags down. “aww got stuff for me sweetie?” he says walking up to you, his hands gently holding your waist as he approaches. “obviouslyyyy, how could i not?” you giggle.
“well i got something for you too, y’know?” he purrs, his hands gently rubbing up and down your sides. “yeah matt?, what is that?” you ask intrigued by his words. he smirks slightly chuckling, as he slowly backs you up to the door gesturing up to the door frame. you furrow your brows in confusion, as you look up spotting the mistletoe. “you’re ridiculous y’know that?” you say looking back at him. “well you’ve heard what they say about mistletoe.” he says smiling slightly, as he leans down capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. his hands gently roam your body, tracing ever dip and curve as his lips move so intricately and slowly against yours.
you gradually melt into the kiss, your hands at the nape of his neck as you savor his sweet taste on your lips. after a few minutes that had felt like forever, he pulls back looking at you. “nick and chris are heading over soon.” he says looking at you almost teasingly. “you’re terrible matthew, terrible.” you say giggling as you move your hands back to your sides. “got you something though.” you say walking over to the kitchen. “what surprises you got today sweetheart?” he says looking at you as you rummage through your shopping bags. “here’s something sweet, in return for your sweet kiss.” you say smiling holding out the cinnabon you had bought earlier to him. he gasps in excitement, as he takes the treat looking at you in awe. “god you’re perfect doll.” he smiles pressing a kiss to your forehead.

「 25 Hours: Hard, Soft & WIP-mas 」
I came up with this just a little last minute, and was unsure if I could commit to it. It is busy season at work, and it is busy. This is my full disclaimer that I may not get all 25 parts posted! These are not holiday themed, if you want something festive, I have a kinkmas list I did for BTS two years ago that you can find here.
25 different idols in the style of one of the below options:
1) Part of a WIP (that may or may not be in the graveyard) 2) A hard hour paragraph/drabble 3) A soft hour paragraph/drabble
Set list of idols is TBD, tentative list is below, but it is subject to change as some of these will be written as I go/inspiration strikes. These are just a way of me sharing WIPs and ideas that I do not have the time to finish right now. Think of them as a gift or a stocking stuffer as @minisugakoobies referred to them as 🤗

[ID: a banner that says "song a scene". the background is a closeup of a snowflake in blue. end ID]
need a last minute stocking stuffer? want a cute game for a night of hannukah?
song a scene is a story writing game for one where you make a 5-song playlist, craft your scene based on the song titles, and then write while you listen to the playlist
it's great for flash fiction, fanfics, and coming up with new oc backstory bullshit :)
the best part - it fits on a bookmark!!
all you need is the game, something to write with, and a digital music library. you can get the game (b&w and dyslexia friendly versions) for free, or pay one dollar for a cute formatted version :)
here were the story titles i came up with testing the game using my players' pc and my npc playlists:
[ID: 5 images of playlist titles. the titles read: 1) wolves' song in the dark 2) you and me inventors once again 3) forever sinking, fifteen sleeps without you 4) time into the smoke 5) home looked nice today. end ID]
honestly it might be worth checking out the game even if you just struggle to title things like i do :P
get the game on itch!!

Joey B Blurbs: Baby, It’s Cold Outside
————————————————————————-
Summary: Joe is yet again on the receiving end of your mischief. This time you prank him by randomly leaving without saying a word.
Warnings: None, fluff, unserious/funny, pranks!
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagine universe: Into The Mystic
————————————————————————-
*20 weeks pregnant*
The house was warm but quiet.
Tyson and Miles were asleep upstairs since it was late, and the only sounds were of the crackling fireplace.
Joe was lying down, taking up the entire couch and reading a book, while I sat a couple of feet away on the loveseat.
I was on my notes app brainstorming ideas for stocking stuffers for the boys since Christmas was right around the corner.
Once my list was done, I found myself getting increasingly bored sitting there doing nothing.
The presents for Joe, Tyson, and Miles were already wrapped and Christmas dinner was already planned. There was nothing left for me to do.
I knew better than to disturb Joe while he was reading. After a quick analysis of his body language, his eyebrows furrowing in concentration told me that he was very deep into whatever odd topic he was reading about.
Giggling to myself at his face, I pulled Tiktok up, and almost like muscle memory went to my ‘Joe Pranks’ collection.
There was one video that I had saved that stood out to me because I wouldn't have to interact with Joe to do it. Perfect.
I quickly stood up and walked over to the TV stand, acting like I was moving around decorations, but I was actually setting my phone up to record.
After it was set and recording, I walked to the front door and slipped a pair of shoes on before grabbing my keys out of the dish.
I unlocked the deadbolt and opened the door, by now I had Joe’s attention.
“Where are you going?” - Joe
Ignoring him, I walked out of the door and dramatically slammed it behind me.
Now, I had no idea what he was doing, but I just stood in the driveway. Hopefully, he would come out here.
Not even a minute later, the door opened and Joe stuck his head out. He hadn't seen me yet, and his eyes looked panicked.
“y/n?” - Joe whisper yelled
“Hi.” - you
Joe’s gaze snapped over into the direction my voice came from, and he immediately looked equal parts annoyed and confused.
“What the hell are you doing?” - Joe
I shrugged and he stepped out onto the porch.
“Get in the house. It's like freezing.” - Joe
Now I couldn't contain my laughter as he continuously got more flustered.
“Baby, it's cold outside. Come back in the house.” - Joe
“You just said a song title.” - you laughed
“Yup. C’mon, Mama.” - Joe
I didn't move or even budge so Joe heaved a sigh and walked off of the porch.
A loud squeal escaped my lips when he strode up to me and gently picked me up bridal style. He did so extra carefully due to the baby.
“Joey!” - you giggled
“You weren't gonna move so Imma move you myself.” - Joe
He hurriedly got me into the house and sat me down on the couch before walking back to the front door and shutting it.
Joe made his way back to the couch and found his spot sitting behind me. My back to his chest, his arms around my waist, and his hands on my bump.
“Babe, your cheeks are red.” - Joe
“I'm fine. I was outside for like two minutes, and it was just a little prank” - you laughed
“Shit, the last time you walked out without saying was when we were in high school. Remember you were at my house and I was playing video games? You got mad because I wasn't talking to you and you just left. I remember being scared you were going to break up with me.” - Joe
“Well, I didn't.” - you
“Obvs.” - Joe chuckled
“Do you ever wonder what our high school selves would say if they saw who we were today?” - you
“Oh, all the time. High school Joe would pass out if I told him all of the accomplishments he's made… with his favorite girl by his side.” - Joe
“I love you, Joe.” - you grinned
“I love you too, sweetheart. Now where's your phone hidden? I wanna watch this prank footage.” - Joe
The rest of the night was spent watching the various recordings I have of pranking Joe. He found most of them amusing, but after we finished watching all of them, Joe said something that made me slightly nervous.
“One day, Imma get you back. When you least expect it.” - Joe smirked
“Oh no.” - you
————————————————————————-

Hope you enjoyed! 💕

Lost (A Halstead Brothers + Halstead Sister Imagine)
"What do you want?" you asked Jay as you held his hand while you walked into the mall the weekend before Christmas.
He smiled and quickly looked down at you. "I told you. You can get me whatever you think I'd like. I'm not picky."
"I know that, Jay Jay," you huffed. "But Will telled me you need to be spec-spec...Will, what's that word again?"
"Specific," he offered.
"Yeah. That. He telled me you need to do that because we gotta know what store to go to."
"What do you want to get me?" Jay asked.
"I dunno! That's why you gotta tell me!"
"Okay, okay, calm down," Jay said as the three of you walked into the mall. "How about some new gloves?"
"That's a good idea! Hailey always says you need new ones!"
"She does, doesn't she?"
"Yeah!"
"So, me and you will go get Will's gift and then we'll get a snack and switch, okay?"
"Okay!"
Then, you and Jay started off toward the center of the mall to the sports store to get Will the Blackhawks winter hat he wanted while Will went the opposite way to meet up with Hailey and start knocking the last-minute gifts off your list to Santa.
***
An hour later, you had Will's hat and Jay, well Jay had some last-minute stocking stuffer ideas from you, and you all had eaten soft pretzels with cheese from Auntie Anne's. Now, it was time to go get Jay's gift. And, unbeknownst to you, Jay had told Will to stall because he and Hailey needed to run across the street to get your Build-A-Bear clothes that they had ordered online last week and then get your new bike from Toys R Us.
"I think we should get Jay two things," Will suggested.
"Why?" you asked. You had only gotten Will one thing. You couldn't get Jay two because that wouldn't be fair!
"Because there's that fun food store and I think he'd like some weird potato chips."
"But you didn't get two presents! So, Jay Jay can't get two! That's mean to you!"
Will smiled and then steered you towards the center of the aisle to the seating area. Once there, he crouched down to your level. "And that's so nice that you're thinking like that, kiddo! But, I think he'd like some fun chips."
"But you like the pickle ones!"
"That's right. How about you get me the pickle ones, too then?"
"But then you'll know what I got you!"
"I'll forget by then."
You scrunched your eyebrows. Christmas was in four days! Will couldn't forget that fast, could he? But, they never lied to you. So, maybe he would.
"You promise you forget?"
"I promise."
"And we give them back to Jay Jay later so he help me wrap?"
"And we can give them to Jay later so he can help you wrap them, yes," Will confirmed.
"Okay! Let's go get the chippies!"
Will laughed and then looked around. It was starting to get later and more people were coming into the mall because they were getting off work.
"Hold my hand when we walk there because it's getting busier, okay?"
"Okay!"
Then, you grabbed Will's hand and went over to the store that housed all the candy, chips, popcorn, and all of the other fun foods.
You quickly found the dill pickle potato chips that Will liked but were stumped on what type of chips to get for Jay.
You scrunched up your eyebrows again, deep in thought. "I dunno what to get Jay!"
"Hmmm, what if we look at the popcorn? See if they have anything spicy. He likes that."
"Is that the thing that makes my tongue all tingly that I had to drink milk after?"
Will smiled and held back a laugh at your description. "Yes, that's the one."
"We should get him one with lots and lots and lots and lots of spicy!"
"Okay, super duper spicy popcorn for Jay comin' right up!" Will's phone then buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw that Jay had texted him to pick up some candy for your stocking. "Hey, kiddo? How about you go over there and pick out all of your favorite candy so that Santa knows what to bring you."
"But how will Santa know if I didn't write it on my list?"
"Well, you can bring it over to me and--" he lowered his voice and crouched down to your level. "Between you and me, I know Santa's phone number."
Your eyes widened. "You talk to Santa?"
"I do. So, you show me all the candies you want and then I'll write them down and then tell Santa. Then, he'll bring you some."
You quickly nodded, still in awe. Your big brother talked to Santa!
Then, you ran across the store to begin picking out all of your favorite candy!
***
About five minutes later, you were almost done making your selections, when you saw someone out of the corner of your eye.
You gasped. Will was leaving the store without you!
You quickly put your candy back on the shelf and then hustled out of the store and kept following your big brother, but boy, did he walk fast!
"Will!" you shouted when you were two stores away from the candy and snack store. He didn't turn around, so you tried again.
Nothing.
You huffed and stomped your feet in annoyance.
"Will!" What was it that Jay called Will when he was mad? Then, it came to you. "William!"
Still nothing!
You kept following him and running almost as fast as you could. Then, he turned into another store and so did you.
He was slowing down and you were catching up to him. Will really needed to slow down! And what about the chips? And telling Santa about the candy? You needed to make sure he'd still talk to Santa and--
He turned around and you gasped.
That wasn't Will!
***
Will furrowed his eyebrows as he walked over to the candy section holding a bag of ghost pepper and jalapeno popcorn for Jay and a bag of dill pickle potato chips for himself...which he'd conveniently "forget" about in four days. He didn't see you here and you knew not to leave anywhere without him or another trusted adult.
"Y/N," he said. "Y/N!" he tried again, this time louder.
His heart began to race. You had to be in the store still. You had to. You knew not to leave without an adult. It was drilled into your head. And, you wouldn't do that on a normal day, much less this close to Christmas when Santa was watching you even closer than before. And, if Will lost you, well, Jay would then commit murder...and he wouldn't care if it was Christmas.
"Y/N!" he tried again and continued to run around the store.
Once he went around twice, he had to concede.
You weren't here.
He quickly made his way to the counter and pushed past all of the current customers.
"Sir, you need to go to the—"
"Listen, I'm sorry for cutting in line, but I'm not buying anything right now. My sister was just in here with me and she's not here. This is her." He pulled up the most recent photo of you on his phone. "Did you see where she went?"
"I'm- I'm sorry," the salesgirl stammered. "I had to run to the back to get some orders and my coworker was on break and—"
"It's okay, that's okay. My name's Will, Will Halstead. Do you have a piece of paper? I can write my number down and if you see her or she comes back here, you call me." She slid Will a piece of paper and he wrote down his phone number. "I'm going to security now. Her name's Y/N Halstead. My brother's name is Jay and he's a cop. He might come in here, too and uh- uh—"
"Mr. Halstead, take a breath. Go look for her and go to security. I'll call you if there's anything."
"Thank you!"
Then, he sprinted out of the store.
***
"Do think she wants purple or pink for her bike?" Jay asked as he stood in Toys R Us.
"Hmmm, how about a purple bike and pink helmet," Hailey suggested.
"I like your thinking, Hails. I like your thinking. I'll go grab a worker to get the bike down and then we—" His phone ringing cut him off. "It's Will. They're probably done and I'm gonna have to figure out another stall tactic for at least thirty minutes." Then, he slid open his phone to answer the call. "Yeah, W—"
"Listen, I don't- I don't know where Y/N is," he answered, trying to remain calm even though everything in his body and brain were screaming at him to panic.
Jay froze. "What? What do you mean you don't know where she is? She's with you."
"She was supposed to be! I was having her look for some candy while I found your last gift and then I turned around and she wasn't there and—"
"Okay, okay, stay calm. What did you do next?"
"I went up to the girl at the counter of the store, showed her a picture of Y/N, left her my number, explained the situation, and told her to call me if she saw her."
"Okay, that's a start. Me and Hailey are on our way. Just start looking and call me if you find her."
"Yeah, yeah, I will."
"We gotta go," Jay said when he ended the phone call and started speed walking towards the exit of the store.
"Jay, what's wrong? What's going—"
"Will lost Y/N!"
"Shit. Let's go."
Then, the two took off running.
***
No, no, no, no, no.
There were too many people and you couldn't see above all of these people's heads and you didn't know where Will or Jay were. What did you do now?
Hot tears began to stream down your face as you walked out of the store you were previously in. Then, you turned. Did you come from that way? Or was it the other way?
Then, you heard Jay's voice in your head.
If you're lost, stay where you are and we'll find you. But if you see a police officer, you talk to them.
You stood there and frantically looked around.
Then, you saw them. Two officers with the blue shirts and the hats that Jay and Hailey had to wear sometimes.
Then, you took off before you lost sight of them.
You skidded to a stop in front of them.
"Can you help me?" you quickly cried when you were within earshot of them.
The lady cop quickly took in your tear-stained face and crouched down to your level.
"Help you with what, sweetheart? Where are your parents?"
"My- my brothers."
"Okay. Where are your brothers?"
"I dunno. I thought Will left the store but then it wasn't Will and Jay told me to stay where I was unless I saw a police off-cer because he's one and—"
"Honey, hey, hey, it's okay. We'll find them. What's your name?"
"Y/N Halstead."
"Okay, Y/N. I'm Officer Raven and behind me is my partner, Officer Brown. Now, what are your brothers' names?"
"Will Halstead and Jay Halstead."
"Okay. And, you said one's a police officer like us, right?" You quickly nodded. "Do you know one of their phone numbers?"
You nodded and quickly rattled off Jay's phone number.
But, when the officer called the number, it said that this number had been disconnected.
"Y/N, he didn't answer. Do you know another phone number?"
At this, you began to cry harder. Will had taught you his number, but you were so scared it was all getting jumbled up in your head!
"I don't 'member!" you cried.
"Okay, that's okay. You said Jay's a police officer, so do you know his badge number?" She pointed to her own badge. "It's the number that's on here. Or, do you know who he works with?"
"Jay Jay works with Hank- Hank Voight," you said. Then, you remembered multiple times at the district where Jay would quiz you on his badge number. He said if anything happened and you couldn't remember anything, just to know his name and his badge number. "Jay Halstead. Badge 5..1..1..6..." you furrowed your eyebrows as you tried to pull out the last number from memory. "3."
"Jay Halstead, badge number 5-1-1-6-3?" Officer Raven asked.
"Yes! That's my brother."
"And he works with Hank Voight?"
"Uh-huh."
"Brown, know a Sergeant Hank Voight? Any chance you know his district?"
"Voight's district is the 21st. One of the most infamous sergeants. You're lucky you haven't come across him. I'll call it in." He picked up his radio. "Dispatch, patch me into the 21st."
"Copy."
"21st district. This is Sergeant Platt."
"Trudy!" you exclaimed. "I know her!"
"You know her?" You nodded. "Good!" Officer Brown said to you. Then, when he spoke again, it was into his radio. "Sergeant Platt, this is Officer Trevor Brown, badge number 1-3-5-7-8. I'm here with Y/N Halstead. She said her brother is Jay Halstead, badge number 5-1-1-6-3. We tried to call him but that number was disconnected. Do you have another number for him?"
"Halstead, huh? Let me talk to Y/N and then I'll give you the number."
The officer knew this wasn't protocol, but who was he to tell the desk sergeant no?
"She wants to talk to you, Y/N." Then, he bent down to allow you to talk into your radio.
"Trudy!" you exclaimed. "I was shoppin' with Will and Jay and- and then I thought Will left the store but then it wasn't him and- and then Jay Jay not answerin' and then I finded the off-cers like Jay Jay telled me and--"
"Hey, Y/N," she cut you off. "It's okay. You did really good telling the officers Jay's badge number. I'm gonna give him a call and he'll come to you, okay? I need to talk to the officers again now, alright? You did such a good job."
"Thank you, Trudy!"
"Sorry about that," Trudy apologized to Officer Brown a moment later. "We had a case where the criminals found some personal phone numbers and they had to be changed, which is why the number is disconnected. Tell me where you are in the mall and I'll give Halstead a call right away."
He told Trudy where exactly in the mall you were and then told you that she'd call him and your brother would be on your way.
***
"Trudy, I'm a little busy right now. Y/N's missing and we're at the mall looking for her and--"
"Halstead, she found two officers and she's in front of Williams and Soma."
"She-- You found her?"
"She found officers and said your badge number and everything. Williams and Soma, Halstead. Go there. And next time, keep an eye on her."
"I wasn't watching her, it was Will."
"Don't care who it is. Watch her next time."
Then, she hung up the phone and Jay almost fell over in relief.
"They found her, Hails." He quickly told her the store and what Trudy had told him and they started walking over there when she quickly stopped.
"I can't go over there, Jay. She doesn't know I'm here and then she'll ask questions."
"Shit," Jay muttered. "You do have a point."
"I know. I'm gonna go get the bike and helmet and I'll meet you at home. Love you, babe."
"Love you, too."
Then, Jay quickly called Will and told him where you were.
***
The minute Jay saw you, he sprinted over to you.
"Jay Jay!" you exclaimed and closed the distance between the two of you.
"Y/N! Hey, you're okay, hey." He was about to sink to his knees when he remembered protocol. "I have to show this nice officer my ID real quick, okay?"
"Y/N!"
"Will!
He picked you up as soon as he got to you and hugged you tight.
"I'm sorry!" you cried. "I thinked someone was you and it wasn't and then--"
"It's okay," Will quickly reassured. "You're safe and that's all that matters. Now, I need to show these officers my ID just like Jay Jay did really quick, okay?"
Then, he passed you over to Jay.
"I'm sorry, Jay Jay," you muttered as you buried your head in his chest.
"It's okay, kiddo. It's okay. You did so good by telling the officers my badge number. Now, what do you say we go look at the candy again?"
You gasped. "Will said he has Santa's phone number! And that's why we gotta go look at the candy! Do you know his number, too?"
"I sure do. And, after today, I am going to tell Santa that you are most definitely on the nice list."
You gasped. "Really?"
"Really."
"And, we are also going to work on you remembering my phone number and Jay's new one. But, that can wait until after Christmas I think," Will added.
You gasped again. "I'm getting presents there! Jay Jay, Will said he will forget, but will you?"
"Tell you what," Jay began, "me and you will look at the candy so I know what to tell Santa, and Will can grab the presents, sound good to you?"
"Uh-huh," you agreed.
Then, Jay set you down, thanked the officers again, and you three made your way to the candy and snacks store.
You and Jay made a beeline for the candy while Will talked with the salesgirl. He said they found you and thanked her for keeping an eye out.
And, well, if on Christmas morning you found all ten candies you picked out with Jay instead of the original 5-7 in your stocking like Will and Jay planned, well, it was just because your brothers told Santa that you were extra good and extra, extra brave this year.
A/N: Merry Christmas! I know this one was short, but I had an idea for this the other day and wanted to get it out! I hope you enjoyed it! Also, don't forget to reblog and comment!

For the "Holidays with the Winchesters: A very Destiel Christmas Advent Calendar" by @archervale and @wormstacheangel
Day Seven: Stocking Stuffers
Dean sneaks along the corridor clutching the stack of letters in his hands tightly. Moving past the Christmas tree, which is giving off the only light that’s guiding his way. Making sure no one is around, he moves into the Bunkers library, where they have hung up a string with stockings. They are filled with sweets, nuts and oranges already. He makes sure that no one is watching before putting the appropriately addressed letters to the corresponding stocking. Taking one last look at all the stockings, which seem way too many for him. How is it that they know that many people? The Bunker is currently filled with people in preparation of the holiday. Eileen, Sam and Jack are here, of course. But also Jody, Donna, Claire, Kaia, Alex and Patience have come up a few days before and are staying through to the beginning of the new year. And even Kevin, Gabe, Charlie, Benny, Bobby, Ellen and Jo have come to join them for a few days. Garth and his family arrived yesterday as well and Crowley and Rowena are sure to pop in tomorrow as well. So yeah the Bunker is pretty crowded and he wrote a lot of letters in the past few weeks, but he had to do this. For him. Because of him.
Having put all the letters in the stockings he puts the one addressed to him onto the table and moves up the stairs towards the door. Looking back one last time, he goes to the garage. He gets into one of the trucks he had made sure was ready to go, over the last few days.
And starting the engine, drives off into the night.
————
Sam is awoken by someone shaking him and screaming in excitement “Wake up!”
He blarely opens his eyes to find Jack standing over his and Eileen’s bed.
“It’s Christmas morning! Time for presents! The girls are waking up the others, so we can start as soon as possible.” Jack exclaims while practically vibrating in place.
Glancing at the clock and seeing it’s just after 6, Sam replies “We’ll be out in five minutes. Okay?”
“Okay!” Jack says, already running out the door. Probably headed towards the library where the tree is set up.
Turning to his left, Sam finds Eileen already looking at him. They sign ‘Merry Christmas’ to each other before Sam pulls her into a gentle kiss. They get up and head towards the library. They are dressed in their Christmas pajamas, that Jack had insisted they all wear.
What they find in the library is not what he had imagined. Everyone, but Dean has already made it, it seems. But Instead of a joyous atmosphere they are met with apprehension.
“What’s going on?” Sam asks.
“Dean’s missing.” Claire says, “I went to wake him up, but he wasn’t in his room. We already checked in the kitchen and the bathroom, he isn’t there as well. And I don’t think he would go milling around the Bunker at this moment. He also left his phone and keys in his room.”
“Why would Dean leave now? Nothing’s going to be open at this time and he also would have taken Baby if he left or at least left a note, right?” Jack asks with a worried look on his face.
Gabriel speaks up from where he was already pulling the candy out of his stocking, “I think Dean wrote all of us letters. Maybe that will tell us where he went?”
They all exchange worried glances before moving towards their respective stockings and pulling out the letters Dean wrote them.
————
Sam’s letter:
Heya Sammy,
I know you are wondering why I wrote you and everyone else letters.
I guess I just realized that I never really tell anyone how I feel about them. And I’m realizing that a big part of that comes from how Dad raised us, or more specifically me, I guess. Since you never seem to have any problems sharing your feelings. At least you were smart enough to tell Eileen you love her, before it was too late. You were always the smarter one out of the two of us.
I should have told you this years ago. And sometimes I think you kind of suspected it, but there was always a little, or pretty big, part (that sounds suspiciously like Dad) that was afraid you would react badly. But anyway. I am bisexual. There I said it, or wrote it, or whatever.
Why am I telling you this at all? Well it has to do with why I am writing these letters. I should have told you and Jack and everyone else as soon as it happened and they were back, but I couldn’t help feeling that it would make what happened more real, that Cas would be truly gone once I told everyone how it happened. I mean I told you the idiot sacrificed himself for me. He did it by summoning the Empty. Apparently he had made a deal to save Jack, like I already said, self-sacrificing idiot. The Empty would come for him, when he felt happiest. And Billy was after us. So we locked ourselves in the Dungeon, but we both knew it wouldn’t take long before she would get through. So he summed the Empty. To save me.
He told me he loved me, Sammy. And that I am not just a tool and killer. He was happiest by just making me feel loved and appreciated. I wasn’t even able to. I couldn’t say it back, Sam. Not at that moment. I was too shocked. And then the Empty took him and Billy, before I could really react and understand what was going on. I should have said it back. Pulled him into a hug and told him that he’s family and one of the most important people in my life. But I was too slow. And I’ve been miserable the last few weeks cause I’ll never be able to tell him. I’m never gonna be able to or make sure he knows that we - that I appreciate everything he has done for us over the years.
What I’m actually trying to say is, that I love you. Even though you can be a real pain in my ass sometimes. And you are probably right about me eating too unhealthy, like the smartass you’ve always been. But I’m so proud of you Sammy. And sometimes I’m really sorry that I pulled you away from Jessica and law school and the perfect apple pie life you could have had. And if I’m being completely honest I did mostly for myself, cause I was scared. Dad had been gone for a while and normally he would have at least checked in, it wasn’t unusual at that point for us to go a while without seeing each other. And I just wanted to see you again. To just have something familiar - other than Baby, of course - with me. And sometimes I hate myself that I pulled you back in again. But I also realize that I would probably have died a lot sooner, if it hadn’t been for you. So thanks for that as well. You’ve been the most constant thing in my life and for that I am so very grateful. Even if we have died on each other a few times. I guess even death can’t keep us from each other. I am so happy that you have found an amazing girl in Eileen. And I know that you’re gonna have an amazing future together. You are an awesome person and you deserve every bit of good that’s happened in the last few weeks. I mean we’ve both been through some really weird and shitty times - including multiple apocalypse’s. Our lives are crazy, man. But I hope you can finally find peace or as much peace as a Winchester can get.
Sorry I got carried away. But you deserve to know what an amazing man you are. And I guess I just wish you a very Merry Christmas, bitch.
I love you,
Dean
————
Sam looks up after having finished his letter and sees that everyone else seems to have finished theirs already. Through his own bleary eyes he notes that everyone sems to have gotten something similar to what he got, judging by the tear tracks and red rimmed eyes.
“Why would Dean do this?” Charlie asks, “he’s never been one to really open up about his feelings, so why now? And why all of us?”
Jody shoots him a worried look “You don’t think he would-”
“No, no, he wouldn’t. He was so excited to see all of you again. I haven’t seen him smile this much the last couple of months, ever since Cas-” Sam is quick to deny, before breaking off completely.
Everyone is looking at him worriedly, understanding what just went through his head.
“Guys! Look there’s one letter left on the table!” Jo exclaims holding it up so they can all see the name written on the envelope. Cas.
“Should we open it and find out what he wrote? Maybe it will tell us something of where Dean disappeared to?” Alex asks.
Jack speaks up before anyone else can say anything “We should let him read it himself.”
“Are ya-” Jack snaps his fingers before Donna can finish her sentence.
They have to close their eyes because of the blinding white light that fills the room. Once it dissipates, a person is standing in the middle of the room. The trench coat clad angel, is undeniably Cas.
Everyone is frozen in shock before Jack breaks the silence “This was supposed to be a Christmas present for everyone. I found a way to bring him back a few days ago and wanted to surprise you.” Jack says uncertainly at everyone’s silence.
Sam breaks out of his stupor first and pulls the angel into a hug. “I’ve missed you, Cas.”
Castiel returns the hug and says, “I’ve missed you as well Sam.”
After that everyone takes a turn hugging the angel, who seems a bit overwhelmed after everyone is done.
Castiel looks around before asking, “where is Dean? I would have thought he would be with all of you?”
Bobby answers the angel, “he’s been gone since we woke up this morning. We can’t find the idjit.”
“Dean’s gone?” Cas asks in a whisper.
“He left us all letters, but other than that we have no clue where he might be. Maybe you can find something in yours?” Garth says before handing the angel the envelope.
The angel takes it, staring at Dean’s scrawl of his name for a moment before turning it around and opening it. Everyone goes still as they watch the angels eyes flit across the words. There are tears slowly making their way down the angels cheeks, but when he comes to the end a smile takes over his face.
————
Cas’ letter:
Hey Cas,
Or should I start this the way you always did. Hello Cas. Okay no, that just sounds weird. Man, I miss your voice so much. I just- I miss you.
I know that you will never be able to read this, but I just have to get this off my chest. I never thought that everything would end like this. I thought we still had enough time. I thought I would be able to tell you once everything went down with Chuck. Why did I believe that I could get what I want? Fate has always fucked us over, hasn’t it? And now you’re gone. Again. But I don’t think you will come back this time. The kid said he’d be hands off. I’m happy we even got him to agree, to spend Christmas with us.
I can feel how Sammy looks at me. He’s worried. Rightfully so, I guess. Man, the first few weeks were horrible. I probably drank an entire truckload of alcohol. I just felt so, man I don’t even know how I feel. Sad I guess, though the company of the others has helped. They all miss you a lot, you know that. Maybe not. Maybe we should have made sure you really, truly felt accepted and loved by us. The alcohol helped to numb my feelings for a bit, but I don’t want your sacrifice to go to waste. Maybe that would make you come back. You would come back to life, just to kick me in the ass for dying after you sacrificed yourself for me.
And I’m also so angry. Because you could have told me. Why didn’t you trust me enough to tell me about the deal you made? We could have worked out a solution. Together.
I am not going to be angry about you sacrificing yourself for Jack, because I understand. I have done the same. Multiple times. And I would probably do it again. If I thought there was even a chance to bring you back like that. I would do it in a heartbeat. But I wish you had felt comfortable enough to tell me. I had hoped that I hadn’t made you feel like you couldn’t tell me what was going on in your life.
I’m not only angry at you, but also at myself. Because why did you think you couldn’t have me? That your true happiness was only in saying it. Because you could have had me. For years now. There has only been you. You never saw the way I was, the times you died. It was like I became a totally different person, anytime you died and then came back. Man, you are- were my happiness. With you gone I didn’t see a point in going forward. Other than being a tool to stop yet another apocalypse. You would probably hit me for even suggesting that I’m not worth much more than a tool, ‘Daddy’s blunt little instrument’, right? But I’m going to try to be better. For you.
Man, I miss you so much. I love you, Cas. And not like a brother or just as my best friend. I’m in love with you. Oh damn, that feels kind of good to get off my chest. I get it now. Why it made you so happy. Just saying it. But dammit. You could have had it, Cas. All of it. All of me.
I love you with all your quirks and oddities (are you proud of me for knowing that word?). I love the way you talk - also, man that voice, is that just you or Jimmy? I love that trench coat you grew so attached to. I love the way your hair never seems to lie flat and that you never really got the hang of getting your tie to lie right. I miss those blue eyes of yours. They seemed to always pull me in and never let me go. I don’t know if it was your angel heritage shining through, but they always seemed to glow. I hope you know that you also were never just a tool. That I didn’t want you around just because you were an angel. You were my best friend Cas. I loved you so damn much. Even before I admitted to myself that it wasn't just as a friend or a brother. But even then I never thought you could ever love me like that. I never thought that you could feel that way about little old me. I should have gotten the courage to tell you, a lot sooner.
And I hope that I can give justice to the man you saw in me. Because of your words I didn’t give in to Chuck’s goading (I bet you would be proud). I’ll try to be better. For you Cas, always for you.
I love you (always and forever),
Dean
PS: If you are ever able to read this and I’m not in the bunker or anywhere with our family. Look for me where it all began.
————
Looking up Cas exclaims “I think I know where he is.” Before he is gone with a flap of his wings. Everyone else is left confused, staring at the now empty spot.
Sam clears his throat, drawing the attention to him. “Well I guess we just proceed how we would have originally. Breakfast first and then presents. They will join us when they are ready to.”
And with that they move on with their original plans. But this time much lighter than before, in the knowledge that Dean and Cas will finally be able to talk.
—————
Dean is standing in the barn, when the doors suddenly fly open. The lights go up in sparks and Dean is thrown back to 12 years ago, when this happened the first time. Back then he didn’t know that the angel stalking towards him would become his best friend. The love of his life. His happiness.
Dean just stares in shock as Cas comes ever closer, until they are almost standing toe to toe.
“Are you really here?” Dean asks in wonder.
Cas smiles gently at him, “yeah I am. Hello, Dean.”
Dean chokes on a sob as he moves to pull Cas into a tight hug. Cas wraps his arms around Dean as well, pulling him impossible closer. They stand like that for an eternity, just holding each other close.
“You love me.” Cas whispers into Dean’s ear.
Dean pulls back to look into Cas’ eyes. “Yeah, I do. I love you, you idiot.”
“I love you too.” Cas says.
For a moment Dean freezes, fearing the worst, but when nothing happens, he lets out a sigh of relief.
“You’re here to stay?” Dean asks, uncertain.
Cas cups Dean’s cheek gently. “I am, yes. I’ll even ask Jack if he will make me human, so I can live out the rest of my life with you.”
Dean leans into Cas’ touch. “If that is what you want, I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”
“Dean, I know that we still have a lot to talk about, but can I kiss you?” Cas questions.
“Of course, always.”
The next second they are kissing. Intertwined from head to toe. Holding each other close. Tears are making their way down both their faces. But not even an earthquake could stop them now. They finally have each other and they won’t let go for a very long time.

Santa Baby
Summary: The cutie who tells Christmas stories in your library, dressed as Santa is completely endearing.
Oneshot
Fluff, Coworkers to lovers au
Word Count: 2,402
Requested by @jinkoh
Eric X Reader
Prompt: 1. A festive storyteller
[A/n: I live for shy/awkward Eric ngl. Is there no such thing as mango ribbon candy? Maybe not. But we can pretend that the orange ones are mango flavored here.]
------
You’re working at the library’s check-in counter when it turns to two-fifty on the dot, and in strolls Santa. Or well, a man dressed up as Santa Claus without the beard, Eric. He waves to you with a big smile as he heads to the toy bin. He pulls out a red cushion before setting it on the floor and getting a selection of three Christmas stories. You’ve watched him over the weeks, and his mannerisms endear you. From how he expresses the stories with such jolly, you swear he has to have Christmas magic in him. Or how he takes care of each of the kids, always making them feel safe and making sure they leave with their guardian. To the plush Christmas dog, Olive, who he uses to demonstrate the reindeer in stories and passes around for the kids to hold for comfort. Or how he makes a point of greeting and talking to you every day even though he doesn’t need to. You scan in another book as you watch as all the kids gather in front of him.
You notice a new kid in the mix, and Eric happily introduces himself as one of Santa’s little helpers. The kid anxiously nods, and Eric smiles, “I think I have a friend just for you to talk to while we read!” He pulls out, “Olive, the other reindeer.” You shake his head at his joke, and the kid happily wraps around it and seems more comfortable. Eric gets them all settled and begins his story. You’ve heard it a million times, but it always feels as if you’re hearing it for the first time again. You smile as you listen to him while you check through records and ensure everything is correct before heading to put everything away. You smile as you push the cart around, watching the pompom on his Santa hat bounce around as he reads and enacts it.
The kids start leaving with their parents as Eric finishes the last story. You grin and wave as you tell them goodbye, and they tell you both to have a good day. As the last kid is picked up, you click through a few more things when you hear him come over, and he asks, “Did you enjoy today’s stories?” You look up at him, “As always. You did excellent, Mr. Claus.” He grins, “Thank you, all in jolly days' work.” You shake your head with a smile at him before asking, “So, where are you off to now?” He hums, “The candy shop.” You tilt your head, “Oh?” He smiles, “I asked the parents last week if their kids were allergic to anything, and the newest parent today, too. So, I’m heading out to get ‘em some candy.” You smile, “That’s sweet of you.” He shrugs, “It’s the least I could do for them.” You look at the clock. A minute until you could leave, “Do you mind if I tag along? I could use a few stocking stuffer gifts.” He grins, “Not at all.” You clock out as the minute turns, quickly fetching your stuff.
When you return, he’s no longer wearing his Santa hat and red cape with white trim. He’s wearing a nice thick puffer jacket and a gray beanie. “Oh? I thought you wore your outfit home?” He shakes his head with a laugh as he tells you, “No…” You guys walk to the nearby candy store, talking about anything that comes to mind before entering. You both part ways as you look for ribbon candy for your loved ones while he finds some candy canes for the kids. You stop by the fudge, look for your favorite flavor, check the price, and sigh, deciding against it until after Christmas. You finally find the ribbon candy area. It didn’t take long to pick out the flavors you wanted for everyone, and shortly, you were in the checkout lane. You wait for Eric to finish ringing up and leave the store with him. You move to be in front of the store's window.
You reach into your bag and hand Eric the mango-flavored ribbon candy you bought him, “I notice you’re always drinking something mango so…” He smiles brightly, thanking you as he takes it when his eyes light up. You tilt your head, and he reaches into his bag, “Oh! I got you something, too! I noticed you stared at it but didn’t get it, so…” He hands you the fudge you were looking at earlier, and you gasp, “You got this for me?” He grins, “Yeah.” You smile as you thank him and happily put it in your bag. When you look from your bag again, he says, “Now, we both have something sweet to eat!” You grin and nod.
He asks, “Would you mind if I walked you home?” You shake your head ‘no’, and he walks you home as you both talk about your Christmas plans. When you approach your apartment, he says, “You live in this building?” You nod, and he smiles, pointing at the adjacent apartment buildings, “I live in 1222 over there!” You gasp, “No way! We live so close! If you came in at the same time as I did, we could walk to work together.” He hums, “Well, I can’t do that… But I think it’s just as fun to walk you home.” You grin, “I agree.” You don’t wish for the conversation to end, but you know you’ll see him tomorrow, so you say, “I’ll see you at 2:50 tomorrow?” He nods, “Yeah, I’ll see you then, (Y/n).” You nod and wave goodbye to him, and he waves goodbye until you head inside your apartment building.
—
Like clockwork, he’s there at two-fifty, and you couldn’t be happier to see him. He has lensless golden-rimmed glasses to fit the Santa image, and they make him look even more handsome. He visits your counter, “Did you have any of your fudge?” You grin, “A little piece, and it was delicious. Did you try the ribbon candy?” He nods, “Yeah! I had a small piece. It was good!” You nod before you ask, “What are you reading today?” He grins, “‘Twas the night before Christmas.” You smile, “I love that story the most.” He tilts his head, “Really? Even though you’ve heard me say it like… at least twenty times now?” You smile, “You breathe new life into them. I love how you tell them.” He looks down, his ears red, as he thanks you. The library door opens, and he looks up, “I gotta run!” He quickly dashes to get everything set up for the kids. As he gets all the kids settled in, you push around the cart, putting away the checked-in books.
You catch him handing out the sweet treats for them to eat as he tells the story. He reminds them to clean up after themselves as he does. And they thank him for the presents. You smile as they all eat their candy canes and diligently pay attention to him. You hear him start the story, “‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” He makes little mouse sounds, and the kids giggle. You watch from the aisle you’re putting your books on to see his arms stretch out as he describes Santa and the actions he does to look like he’s going down a chimney. You can’t help but giggle at his antics, and all the kids turn back to look at you. You didn’t realize your giggle had been so loud. He looks up at you, the pompom on his hand bobbing up as he blushes. “He looks just like Santa! He has rosy cheeks!” A kid exclaims, which makes Eric even redder. You mouth a little, “Sorry.” He shrugs and smiles at you before he continues telling the story theatrically. It makes your heart feel all fuzzy as you check in books and do your job. You happily listen and watch his antics when you can. And even though you’ve heard the story a million times by now, and at least twenty times from Eric himself. Yet, you can’t help but feel as if you’re hearing it for the first time all over again. You finish up putting the books away as the poem nears the end. You sit in your chair and decide to watch him for a little break. He hops up and exclaims, “HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!” If Eric wasn’t supposed to be a storyteller for the library, you’re sure your compulsive ‘shh’ would have come out. All the kids giggle and cheer at that, and you can’t help but giggle again.
He grins at you before he looks around the library as if checking for on-listeners. You tilt your head, and he sits back down, “Do you kids wanna know a secret?” You shouldn’t try to listen, but you desperately wanted to know, wondering if it was about you. He leans down as they all lean in, and you hear a hushed whisper before they all break apart and start exclaiming, “When will you ask!” And one kid goes, “Won’t you catch cooties from dating?” That makes the rest of the kids gasp, “You won’t catch cooties, will you?!” He laughs, “No… No, you can’t catch those when you reach my age. And someday soon, I’ll ask.” The kids make various noises of disappointment before they whisper amongst themselves. One kid cheers, “You should ask now!” And the rest start chanting, “Ask! Ask! Ask!” You’re so confused by this point. What did the kid mean about catching cooties from dating? And why were they all chanting ‘ask’? And you see him turn redder and redder by the second. It looks like the confidence that he usually has completely evaporated. Before he takes a deep breath in, catching your eyes, he smiles, garnishing whatever confidence he has left, “Okay, I will!” All the kids cheer, even the one who was worried about cooties does.
You tilt your head as he approaches your counter and see the kids all whispering and looking over at you. Did all of that have to do with you? You catch his hands fiddling before he puts his arm on the counter, trying to look all cool. “I um… Hi.” You smile, “Hi.” He pauses, turning his head to look down, and you notice a kid tugging at his red and white cape. He holds out his hand as they give him Olive. You smile, knowing the kid was trying to make him feel better and less nervous, and he tells them, “Thank you, sweetheart.” Before patting their head, you watch the kid rush back to the circle. All of them are craning their heads to listen. You raise your brow as he squeezes Olive a few times before placing the plushie on the counter. You give it a little wave, and he waves their paw back. He gulps, “I was wondering… if I uh… If we could- if you’d like to go on a date with me?” Your eyes dart to the clock on the computer, “Well, what do you say when my shift ends, we do?” His voice squeaks, “Really?” Before he clears his throat, “I mean, uh… Really? You wanna go out with me?” You nod, “I’d love to.” You hear all the kids cheer and giggle with themselves. He giddily walks over to the kids, making Olive’s jingle bell on her hat ring as he shakes her in excitement. You grin as he walks away, happily typing into your computer, excited for your date later. He reads a new Christmas book just as theatrically as his last reading. And your heart melts endlessly at how much joy he was bringing the kiddos he was watching.
When it’s time to leave, all the kids wish you a good day as they rush off with their parents. When they’ve all gone home, you see Eric standing there fiddling with Olive’s ears when he asks, “You sure you want to go on a date with me? You weren’t just saying that to please the kids, were you?” You smile as you clock out from your computer; instead of telling him, you ask, “Can I see Olive for a second?” He nods, handing her over before moving to fiddle with his cape’s toggle button. You pretend to have a little conversation with her and have her speak for you, “(Y/n) says that you’re very cute. Mhmm.” You have Olive nod and continue talking in a higher voice, “And they’ve wanted to go on a date with you for a while now.” He looks at you with shock, “Really?” You nod, look directly at him, and in your normal voice, you tell him, “Watching how caring you are with the kids and how much you make them and me laugh. I couldn’t help but fall for you.” He grins, and you come around the counter, placing Olive back in his hands. He smiles before he whispers to Olive and makes her speak, “Eric finds you very cute, too. And has wanted to ask you out since you first giggled at his storytelling.” You blush and follow him out after he exchanges his accessories for his regular clothes.
—
As you walk home together, hand in hand, you ask, “If we were to start dating, would that make you my Santa baby?” He hums, “Yeah? But only if you say yes to dating me.” You laugh as your cheeks turn red, “Maybe… If you ask properly.” When you stop in front of your apartment complex’s door, he asks, “Would you like to make it official and be mine?” You scrunch up your nose, acting as if you’re thinking about it before saying, “Only if you get to call you mine too, Santa baby.” He gives you a hearty chuckle, “Deal.” You both laugh and you kiss his cheek, “I’ll see you tomorrow?” He tilts his head, “But tomorrow’s Saturday…?” You wait for him to get it, and his eyes grow wide, “Oh yeah, of course!” “Does 1 pm sound good to you?” He grins, “Perfect! I’ll see you tomorrow, baby!” He kisses your cheek goodbye. And you both excitedly head to your apartments, ready for this new beginning.
