I've been making lanyards for the last few months.

There are so many more possibilities when you move away from plastic lacing.

Leather, paracord, silicone, etc. all create wonderful woven structures. Making these is a lot like fiber arts, but I'm not sure if it would be classified as such. I'm focused on splitting and merging forms to create these tiny projects.

After figuring out the stitches, I was able to weave longer pieces of deerskin lacing into a necklace.

The image below shows a few that I saved from when I was a kid.

I'm considering making some free video tutorials and selling kits for simple leather keychains. Would you ever consider trying this craft?

I really used to struggle with visual instructions and patterns for more 3D things, but in recent years I've been exercising that part of my brain to the point I could finally tackle this doll/plushie tutorial I saved ages ago. It only had progress photos and instructions, no patterns, so I had to kind of recreate it by trial and error.

I also made some changes-- smaller head/hands/feet, longer legs, and altered the head and body shapes so it'd be more proportional and less chibi. It's super satisfying that it can stand AND sit reasonably well, but even more of a joy that my brain has leveled up to handle these sorts of puzzles XD

(note: the pins on the face are marking where I want to paint the eyes/mouth/ears-- I did forget to sew the ears on when sewing the head together, but will make an excision and glue them in later)

I'm working behind the scenes to create a start for a woven lanyard line. All lanyards are cotton, roughly 1 inch wide. This is one of the first lanyards I've made for it! Look forward to seeing more in the future!
