Hey everyone! I'm going to be doing a 100-hour challenge of German language learning starting from scratch at an A0 level. These are the resources and the study plan I intend to use, it might be adjusted over time to meet my goals.

does anyone have some german music recommendations? for the songs i listen to in english, i mainly listen to 2000s emo, 70s/80s music (pull up a popular “throwback” playlist and im there), indie, and some pop music if it’s catchy. i especially love hozier, fall out boy, mitski, orville peck, and my chemical romance. i want to practice listening to german outside of my family talking over zoom because i can barely understand zoom and phone calls in english, let alone in german, because of my slight auditory processing disorder.

any recommendations would be great and ESPECIALLY if they’re queer artists!

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

So, turns out that the Goethe Institut course includes predetermined flashcards. It was very useful and it saved me a lot of time. However I think I need to have an Anki deck eventually cause I need to get reminders for spaced repetition. Everything is going well so far, I’m in the first couple of lessons but I haven’t found it to be that difficult yet. But I’m aware that eventually more challenges are yet to come. Bis Morgen!

i know it's been said many times before but i will never get over how jacob anderson, a british man with a british accent, not only nailed a louisiana creole accent but also developed a studiously (almost eerily) generic accent that louis uses in the present AND showed the first accent bleeding into the second accent at key moments as a way of aurally externalizing his character's inner journey. what did god put in this man when she created him.
