한국어를 연습은 더 필요 있어요… 매일 공부하는데 한국어를 잘 못해요. ‘이거 어려워요...’ 이런 생각해요. Part of me is really tired of studying and feeling like I am not getting any better.

사실 연습은 더 하고 싶어요. (Torn between wanting to do more, feeling like I need to do more, and also feeling really discouraged by how little growth I see in my abilities.) 저는 YouTube를 보면서 “이게 연습을 좋다” 라고 그런데 그것은 사실이 아니에요. YouTube를 재미있는데 그것 안 공부해요.

스트레이키즈의 YouTube를 너무 너무 재미있어요. Of course I enjoy it, it’s a lot of fun. 맞아잖아~~ 하지만 I need to study seriously.

100 days of mental healthcare: day 93/100

I'm sorry I've been absent the last few days. I had a crazy weekend full of work and — I know this won't sound like me — I've been more active on Instagram, where I can better follow the results of the Olympic Games. I watched the gymnastics performances of our diva Rebeca Andrade in the little free time I had on Sunday and finally gave a chance to a web series that tells the story of the Marauders at Hogwarts. It was also my husband's birthday yesterday, so we went out to have Japanese food. Today was another day full of work, with another medal from Rebeca Andrade (our queen!) and signs that this will be a good week.

Jp learners, how do you guys go about using a notebook? How do you practice writing? I bought a new notebook recently to practice writing in Japanese, but I don't really know how to start. I can already output a little digitally and recognize a fair ammount of kanji, but I've never really taken notes before.

I do immersion learning, so I'm thinking of attempting like, a semi daily diary for writing simple stuff? Idk I'd like to hear what other people are doing for writing practice!

when I finally start learning something I had been postponing and I suddenly rediscover my will to study and apply myself until I’m the best again

Start the morning reviewing kanji I often forget. Get frustrated because I just cannot remember 福（ふく=blessing, fortune, luck, health) and there's only one word on my N3 vocab list containing that kanji. "Why do I even have to learn this for N3 when there's only one word with it anyway?" I grumble. "I've never even seen the word 幸福 used in context!"

Watch Kiriko's Crime Diary and she sees a display of strawberry daifuku in the supermarket underneath the sign: いちご大福, which she reads aloud. Suddenly I have no trouble remembering the kanji or the meaning.

And this is why we do fun things that are meaningful to us personally when we learn a language and don't just look at word lists/flash cards!

November 8th Journal

Looking through my to-do lists this month, I'm realizing that part of the reason why I'm not able to cross things off my list so easily is because the points I add to my list are fairly ambiguous and don't have a clear finish point. For instance, when I would write "learn binary trees on Python"; well what does that mean? Having actual actionable and completable items on my to-do list helps to better set daily goals for myself as well as to actually complete those goals. It often get intimidated seeing such large tasks that I didn't know how to approach so breaking those down for myself has made a world's difference. Yes, yes I'm a yapper.

my first entry written in italian in this journal. i’ve been so lazy with my language learning and im finding it hard to stay motivated to study in the way that i should. by this time next year i would love to be at a true B1 level of speaking and this feels like the path of least resistance when it comes to practice.
