(I decided to draw what Risewell looks like with white eyes, that Tom gets when shocked, and how he is feeling right now with the paranoia making him feel like somebody’s watching him… The line next to Risewell and the blue eye, which I won’t say whose eye it belongs to yet, is from the song “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell.)

Mari's sister and grandmother had dispersed quickly to gather their wood from the day. The red head was left to wallow in guilt and shame, awaiting her family's punishment for her behavior. So consumed by her thoughts she almost failed to notice a well dressed young man approach her.
Tumblr media
After a moment she recognized the boy as the Squire's son, Bransen Landvik.

The Squire's heir began speaking about Mari's squabble first. To her surprise, Bransen thought of Helene Cecil as a snot. The children laughed as they started to whisper about the Steward's daughter.
"About time someone put Helene into her place! She acts as if she is the Royal Steward!"
Mari thought it was safe to call Bran (the boy had insisted on the nickname) a friend.

She never expected to be in this situation again. Two questionable lines after a missed period told her as much as she needed to know. Not expected, but there she was again, over six years later, barely a mom to the result of her last pregnancy — what was going to happen now? What were they going to do? Things with Charlie had been... fun, when it happened. A good amount of stress relief as they fumbled around in the shower, essentially washing off the awkwardness of the date that caused them to meet in the first place. Sex didn't involved speaking and since speaking to him meant getting closer and closer to talking about said awkward date, Skipper was happy to pick the sex instead. Sitting there, on the dock as the sun rose, next to the man she already said limited words to, she realized that they'd now have to talk about something even worse than their failed date. "I think I'm pregnant." The sentence fell out before she could even think about it, dispersing into the quiet of the morning, seemingly echoing over the birds chirping in the distance and the water lapping against the shore. Her line, propped up against a post nearby, dropped from her attention as her gaze lifted to meet his instead. "I would say I don't know how this happened, but we're both adults here. I think we can make an educated guess."

Finding someone who matched his energy had never been easy for Erik. Fiery and strong-willed by nature, it was a real shock when he’d met someone with his same temper. Though what was more shocking was that they seemed to direct all that heat into staying as far away from him as possible, making them fall into a vicious circle of clashing against each other and then acting as if it hadn’t meant a thing. But Erik was done with it, his ego too big to consider not being someone’s first choice. “You may think that I’m beneath you, that I’m dirt,” there was venom in his expression, but his tone remained controlled, “but you’re the one who likes to roll in it—why don’t you admit it? You’ve never had it so good as me. Never.”

Summers were always an odd time for her — the tranquility of having some time off mixed with the... frankly, restlessness of having nothing to do. It was nice for a week, and then she missed seeing her students, missed seeing the ones who had a passion for reading the way that she did throw themselves into the class and the ones who hated it... maybe learn to hate it a little less, by the end. So, early enough in the morning that there wasn't much of a crowd, she found herself among the trees, leaning against the wooden railing in the nature preserve, watching an egret preen in the dappled shade while an audiobook poured story into her ears through her earbuds.  She almost missed the other woman entirely. But then at the last second, Daphne's eyes caught on Skipper and stuck. (Rowan, apparently.) Daphne straightened up, a smile that was only slightly awkward blooming over her lips. "Hey." She pulled out one of her AirPods. "It's a nice morning to be outside, hm? How are... things?" How did it go a few weeks ago with the son that I'm currently sworn to secrecy over, is what she doesn't say — because she still had the one AirPod in, she wasn't totally sure there was no one within earshot of them. And, frankly, because she didn't know Skipper that well, and she wouldn't blame the woman for dodging the topic entirely. Something spurred Daphne to ask anyway. @skipperlandvik

-Landvik
No… Nono… Nonononononononononono. I-I thought you could not find me after I… I… I am going to close the ask box, right now.

Freya and Sybil play a talkative game of Kicky Bag before the Squire's daughter departs for home. Luckily, Avis Fairburne quickly attaches to Sybil's side.
Sybil: "Avvy you will not believe what has happened!"
