When he finally got a moment to himself, Lando was champagne soaked and exhausted.

The adrenaline of everything was still buzzing under his skin. He felt dizzy with it as he stared at the trophy resting on the floor in front of him as he lay back against the wall of his drivers room.

Jon had managed to get him a few sorely needed moments alone, and Lando was finally able to do what he had wanted to since he had crossed the finish line to bring it all home.

"Liefje", Martin's voice crackled over the speaker of his phone.

His face filled the little screen. Eyes bright and smile just as kind as Lando remembered.

"Marty", Lando started to chike out but seeing Martin knocked something loose inside him and those happy tears bubbled up once more.

"Oh liefje", Martin spoke softly, keeping his tone nice and calm, "I am so proud of you. You did so well, Lando. You showed them all what you're made of. You won the race and brought home the constructors. My brilliant Lando"

"Stop it, I'll cry", Lando sobbed but he was smiling as he looked at the screen to see tears in Martin's own eyes.

"You're already crying, Lando", Martin teased with a soft laugh as he brushed away his own tears, "It's okay. It's good to cry when you're happy, and I'll cry with you, yeah?"

Lando could only nod as he covered his face with a hand for a moment. Just taking deep, grounding breaths as Martin talked to him. His voice was a balm to his excited soul. It calmed him until he was able to wipe away the tears to smile at Martin.

"I am so proud of you, my heart", Martin blew him a kiss through the screen, "I love you. Come home soon, yeah?"

"I love you too", Lando got out as Jon opened the door to peak in at him, "I'll be home before you know it"

And with one last kiss and lingering look, Lando ended the call.

"Alright?", Jon asked with a smile, offering Lando a hand up that he gratefully took.

"Never been better"

Super Max

The roar of engines filled the air at the paddock as little Y/N Alonso, just three years old, clutched her stuffed lion, gazing around with wide, excited eyes. Beside her, her nanny, Gabriela, held her hand and whispered, “Alright, Y/N, are you ready to surprise Papa?”

Y/N nodded enthusiastically, her face lighting up at the sight of the paddock bustling with people. She had been waiting for this day for so long—to her it felt like years were spent waiting.

They spotted Fernando near his garage, chatting with his engineer. When he caught sight of them, his eyes widened in surprise. A big grin broke out across his face as he rushed over.

“Mi pequeña!” he exclaimed, crouching down to pick Y/N up into his arms. “What are you doing here?”

Gabriela chuckled. “She insisted on coming to surprise you, Fernando. She couldn’t wait any longer.”

Fernando laughed, giving Y/N a big kiss on her cheek. “You’re here at the Grand Prix! This is amazing. You’re my little lucky charm, aren’t you?”

Y/N nodded, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck and giggling. “Yes, Papa! I want to see everything!”

Just then, Charles, who was passing by, caught sight of Y/N in Fernando’s arms and walked over, his face breaking into a smile. “Y/N! Look who’s here!” he said with a grin.

Y/N wiggled in Fernando’s arms, her eyes lighting up at Charles. “Hi, Cha-lz!” she said, waving, trying to intimate her Tío Carlos.

Charles leaned over, tapping her nose gently. “Are you going to cheer for me today?”

She tilted her head thoughtfully before shaking it. “I cheer for Papa!”

Fernando chuckled, holding her close. “That’s right. My little supporter.”

More drivers soon gathered around, curious about the excitement. Lando, George and Carlos all crowded around, each taking their turn to greet Y/N.

“Hey, Y/N, do you remember me?” Lando asked, crouching down to her level.

Y/N tilted her head, studying him for a second before nodding. “You’re the funny one,” she declared.

The drivers burst out laughing, with George raising an eyebrow at Lando. “Oh, she’s got you all figured out, Norris.”

“Smart kid,” Carlos added with a wink. “Clearly, she’s an Alonso.”

Just then, Y/N’s eyes went wide as she spotted Max standing nearby, talking with his engineer. She tugged on Fernando’s shirt and pointed excitedly. “Papa, Papa, look! It’s Max! I want to go with Max!”

Fernando exchanged an amused look with Gabriela, his eyes twinkling. “Do you now?”

“Yes!” Y/N insisted, her gaze fixed on Max. “I want to go with Max!”

Fernando put her down, and she ran over to Max, surprising him by grabbing onto his leg. Max looked down, clearly surprised, then chuckled as he recognized the little girl beaming up at him.

“Hey there, Y/N!” Max said, kneeling down to her level. “What’s up?”

“I want to walk with you!” she said confidently. “Can we go?”

Max glanced up at Fernando, who waved him off with a smile, clearly finding this situation very entertaining. “Go on, Max. She’ll keep you on your toes.”

Max laughed and held out his hand to Y/N, who took it eagerly. “Alright, let’s go for a walk. Where do you want to go first?”

“The track!” Y/N said decisively.

“The track it is,” Max replied, leading her out toward the pit lane. The two walked hand in hand, with Max pointing out various things and Y/N asking a hundred questions at once.

Back in the paddock, the other drivers looked on, clearly not pleased with the idea of being upstaged by Max. Charles crossed his arms and pouted, leaning against the wall. “Why does Max get to be the favorite?”

Fernando and Gabriela, both watching the scene with amusement, chuckled. Gabriela shrugged. “Maybe it’s because she has a taste for champions.”

Lando smirked. “Well, champions or not, I’m going to win her over. Just wait.” He turned to Fernando. “Fernando, when she comes back, I’m taking her for ice cream.”

Carlos nodded in agreement. “Good idea. Y/N always loves ice cream. She’s a smart kid.”

Fernando just laughed. “Oh, you all are going to compete for her attention now?”

“Absolutely,” George said, nodding. “If it’s a race, I’m in.”

Meanwhile, out on the track, Y/N was happily chatting away to Max, who seemed more amused than ever at her questions.

“Why is that car red?” she asked, pointing to one of the Ferrari cars.

“That’s Ferrari’s color,” Max explained. “Each team has its own color. Ours is blue.”

Y/N nodded sagely, as if this made perfect sense. Then, after a moment, she tugged on Max’s hand. “Max, when I big, can I drive like you and Papa?”

Max grinned, looking down at her with a playful glint in his eye. “Of course. And when you do, I’ll be there to cheer you on.”

“Good!” she said, pleased with his answer. “I want to be fast like you!”

“Trust me, with Alonso genes, you’ll be very fast,” Max said with a laugh.

As they walked back toward the paddock, Y/N spotted a small crowd of drivers waiting eagerly for them. She turned to Max, holding his hand even tighter. “I only want to stay with you, Max. The others are silly.”

Max chuckled as they approached, while the other drivers pretended to look hurt. Lando dramatically clutched his chest. “Y/N, you wound me! I thought we were friends!”

Carlos knelt down beside her. “I was going to get you ice cream, Y/N. And maybe a little toy car. Does Max have ice cream?”

Y/N looked up at Max, who quickly nodded. “Actually, I do have ice cream. The best ice cream.”

George jumped in, rolling his eyes at Max. “Y/N, I was going to let you sit in my car. You could even press some buttons.”

But Y/N just shook her head, hiding a smile. “I like Max’s buttons better.”

Max smirked, giving the drivers a smug look. “Sorry, guys. It’s the Verstappen charm.”

Gabriela laughed from where she stood with Fernando, both of them watching the entire scene unfold. Fernando leaned over to her and said, “I didn’t know Max had this effect on kids. Or that everyone would be competing so hard for her attention.”

Gabriela shrugged, smiling. “I think Y/N just knows how to get what she wants. She’s a little star already.”

Just then, Y/N turned back to her Papa and waved happily. “Papa, I’m going to race Max!”

Fernando grinned, raising an eyebrow. “Oh, are you?”

“Yes!” Y/N declared. She turned to Max with a serious expression, determination in her eyes. “You be ready, Max. I’m going to be faster than you.”

Max laughed, shaking her tiny hand. “I’ll be waiting for you on the track, Y/N. And you better believe I’ll be cheering you on.”

With one last wave to the drivers, Y/N took Max’s hand, ready for another adventure around the paddock, leaving the other drivers—and her very entertained Papa—in her dust.

Lando could feel the flush of the alcohol in his cheeks.

The fire was crackling in the background, muted by the sound of laughter and chatter. Shot glasses clinked against the table as they were set down, but Lando's remained untouched on the table.

He could easily reach for it, but that meant moving and that was something he didn't want to do. Not when Martin was so warm against him, arm a protective and welcome weight around his waist as Lando sat half in his lap. His head was resting on Martin's shoulder, and if it wasn't for the game of truth or dare they were playing, Lando would have fallen asleep.

"Alright Garrix, your turn"

Martin hummed softly, nodding to acknowledge it as his hand snuck under Lando's hoodie.

"Truth", Martin spoke after careful consideration, "If I move for a dare, Lando will complain"

"I will not", Lando protested but didn't make any show of moving despite Fewtrell and the others bursting into laughter.

"Alright, since you're being boring....", Max teased, pausing to think for a second, "We'll skip you until his lazy ass decides to get up so you can play properly"

Lando rolled his eyes and lifted his hand in a lazy middle finger, sparking more laughter before the game went on without them.

A kiss was pressed against his head, distracting him from glaring at Max as he glanced up at Martin.

"Truth, liefje", Martin whispered, sounding amazed, "Are you going to move so we can go to bed?"

"No", Lando grumbled, squirming closer, "Truth for you. Do you love me, like really really love me?"

Lando normally wouldn't ask anything like that. It was embarrassing in his eyes and cringy but the alcohol was taking hold and he wanted answers.

"Of course I love you, silly", Martin laughed softly, kissing his head and holding him close, "The closest thing to love at first sight I've ever experienced happened when I first laid eyes on you"
