I've researched artists who aren't widely recognized, looking into their work to find a different kind of inspiration. These artists may not have a big following, but there's a certain genuineness and novelty in their pieces that often go unnoticed by the mainstream.

The themes, colour choices, techniques, and compositions, all those things each taken from a different artist and combined, help me make something unique that I myself can like.

With the algorithm of social media and the way it works, I'm being shown things I may like, those things are coded to fit my preferences so it's a great way to find new art that can inspire me.

British artist Louis Wain (1860-1939) is known for his whimsical depictions of cats. I was interested in his motivations behind them, because as it turns out, Wain made these playful feline artworks as a way to make his ill wife, Emily - happy.

And that made me realise that I can make art for pure enjoyment, just to make someone happy. Whether it's someone else or myself. Because of how we are being taught now, it seems like our work needs to mean something and relate to something bigger, more significant. But why can I not make work that I simply just like?

Let my happiness be the theme then.

Despite being sick, I could not contain my excitement at finally getting my package from @lalasdreambox!!! And as the last image shows, the cards clearly reflected that joy back at me!! Olivia put so much care and effort into the creation of these beautiful cards (which are so satisfyingly silky smooth to the touch), the little booklet with descriptions of each card, and the soft, black velvety case embossed with the heart's eye embelm, as well as the pencil case with the gorgeous mermaid and all the sweet extras! Her artwork is even more beautiful in person and she was so helpful when I sent her an inquiry.
