The "Canada isn't a country, it's just three resource-extraction companies wearing a trenchcoat" take wildly overstates things, but it is remarkable how much supporting evidence for it one can find, and in the unlikeliest places. For instance, doing some reading about the current state of the Great Lakes commercial fishery, and I find out that while on the American side the vast majority of fish are caught by recreational anglers, on the Canadian side it is the commercial fishers who are dominant. And the respective policies of the several State governments and the one Provincial government reflect these economic and social realities.
Sure, the U.S. has got a lot more people to potentially go on a charter cruise on Lake Erie or wherever, but it's not like Ontario is a sparsely populated area. And the Great Lakes aren't really tourist destinations for that vast majority of Americans who have the misfortune of living well outside their watershed.

June 29th - Our last charter was Friday May 17th, so it's been a while. We're very appreciative of the Lake Ontario Salmon fishery that made us look good! What rust? 😁
Floyd and his crew drove in from South Western PA to fish with us today. It was touch and go yesterday afternoon because they thought they may melt in the rain that was expected during their trip, but we assured them everything would be just fine.
The fishing was complete mayhem, as expected, but these Walleye anglers did quite well. We caught a lot, we lost a lot, and we selectively harvested some nice fish.

Labor Day Weekend - Happy Labor Day Weekend! We were fortunate to enjoy this long weekend trolling the waters of Lake Ontario, and we hope you enjoyed yours.
Saturday and Sunday we fished a year end tournament called "Big Boys" with some long time clients. It just wasn't our weekend! Saturday morning we started off 3/13 by 8:30am. You can't win big tournaments when you drop 10 Salmon. Sunday, we were faced with much of the same. We eventually gave up on the inside waters, that is housing some nice staging Salmon action, and took our clients offshore. What could have been!
Monday morning we had some new clients out with us, and they did great! Our landing percentage went way up, and these two had all they could handle in just a few hours. Even a few PB's were handed out! This was not a typical charter. These two have their own set up, and wanted to improve their game. We really enjoy teaching charters!
