what are your top 5 lore teams
the habs -> 24 cups, basically every Legendary Goalie ever (except hasek and brodeur lmao) is tied to them in some way (inCLUDING tretiak who was drafted by them but never played because of [unrelated cska drama]), the Richard brothers, Lafleur, Cournoyer, made the Cup finals 10 years straight, deeply symbolic of the general political identity of Quebec and Francophone Canada esp in regard to its relationship with English Canada (evidenced by the habs-leafs rivalry), etc
the red wings -> the first great one in Gordie, the gordie/ted relationship and the creation of the nhlpa, the dead wings and delvecchio, getting the guy you didn't really want at fourth overall but he turned out to be -- well -- Steve Yzerman (whose entire legacy basically shaped the idea of the chivalrous bold-hearted leader), sergei fedorov and the russian five, nick lidstrom and pavel datsyuk
the leafs -> conn smythe, the first team in all of professional sports to retire numbers, bill barilko disappeared that summer... he was on a fishing trip... borje salming and the beginning of europeans in the nhl, darryl sittler, harold ballard the worst man on the entire goddamn planet, mats sundin and the gretzky high-stick, the decade of darkness, mitch marner and auston matthews, william nylander, "not everyday you can live out a childhood dream," sixty years without a cup
the oilers -> the pesky edmonton oilers. messier, kurri, coffey. the legacy of the wha and the merger and the teenager they called The Great One a decade before he put on the blue and orange. decades of darkness. three first overall picks in a row. draisaitl; mcdavid. the best power-play the nhl has ever seen. nothing to show for it in a long time.
you could argue for more than a few teams here. bruins, rangers, and blackhawks all original six teams. penguins have also had two great ones. islanders had a dynasty. i say canucks though -> tiger williams and stan smyl. larionov and bure. the twins. luongo. two cup finals, lost at the last second. two riots. hughes and petterson.

New NFL and NCAA Schools Join The Lineup For Second Annual Coach Knapp Stair Climb Initiative
The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund, named in honor of veteran NFL assistant coach Greg Knapp, today announced its expanded lineup of NFL and NCAA teams participating in this fallâs Knapp Stair Climb.â Launched last fall, the initial project had seven NFL teams and close to 200 coaches, players and staff participating in various forms on game days, easily surpassing the goal of raising $100,000. In honor of Coach Knapp, NFL and NCAA coaches, players, executives and alumni will participate in raising funds and awareness for the dangers of distracted driving at each NFL or NCAA stadium prior to team warm ups.
âItâs been very special to see so many people sign up for the Stair Climb to raise awareness for the dangers of distracted driving and to honor Gregâs legacy. We are so grateful for the groundswell of support from across the NFL and at the college level,â said Charlotte Knapp, co-founder of Knapp Memorial and Greg Knappâs widow.
The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund designated their first grant to SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), which funded TextLess Live More events in high schools across the country. TextLess Live More utilizes evidence-informed strategies to reduce technologyâs prevalence in young peopleâs lives â especially behind the wheel, reducing distracted driving rates and deaths. This year, teams will be able to choose which middle and high schools they want these events to take place to create a local impact in their communities.
This yearâs initiative will start even earlier in the season, with Head Coach Matt LaFleur leading the Green Bay Packers in taking to the steps of storied Lambeau Field on Sunday, September 24th.
In addition to the Packers, the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans, plus a growing number of NCAA colleges and universities from Division I to Division III have signed on to participate this fall. The initial NCAA list includes the football programs at Sacramento State, Stanford University, Fordham University, The University of Michigan, Caldwell University and Ripon College, with more schools joining on each week.
âCoach Knapp was a mentor and friend. I can only hope that the impact he made on me as a player, I can pay it forward to my athletes, added Bobby Fresques, Sac State Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach and loyal friend. âThrough his foundation, his legacy will continue to have a profound effect on Sac State Football.â
Fans, athletes, and coaches or anyone interested can also participate wherever is most convenient to them across the country, such as apartment building stairs or a high school sports stadium. Images will be shared on various social channels.
Details on how to get involved individually can be found at https://www.knappmemorial.org/stairclimb. All proceeds will benefit The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund.

Embarking on a New Era: Jordan Love's Journey from Backup to Leading the Packers
A Gentle Nudge from Rodgers When it was announced that Aaron Rodgers, the four-time MVP quarterback, was being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets, there was a collective gasp from Packers fans. However, Rodgers, prior to his departure, ensured he had a word with his successor, Jordan Love, imparting crucial advice. On the eve of his inaugural training camp as the Packers' starting quarterback, Love found himself on the receiving end of a text from Rodgers. He was encouraged to stay true to his nature, have fun and relish his newfound role. Love's first solo outing as a quarterback was undoubtedly daunting, but Rodgers' words provided comfort. Having backed up Rodgers for three seasons, Love was ready to come into his own. The Legacy of Learning The legacy Rodgers left behind with the Packers is no easy feat to replicate, much less surpass. Yet, Love has not only learned from Rodgers but also from his experiences as a backup quarterback. Love's three years in Rodgers' shadow have given him invaluable insights and a more profound understanding of the Packers' offensive strategy, making him feel well-equipped for his new role. There is no underestimating the significance of learning from experience. Love's tenure as a backup has prepared him well for the responsibilities of leading the team. Indeed, Packers coach Matt LaFleur believes that Love has "complete command" of their offense, affirming his readiness for the upcoming season. Read the full article

The Green Bay Packers: A Proud Legacy and Promising Future
The Green Bay Packers, one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the National Football League (NFL), have long been synonymous with success, tradition, and the unwavering support of their fans. Founded in 1919 by Earl âCurlyâ Lambeau and George Calhoun, the team has evolved from its humble beginnings into a powerhouse within the league. The Packersâ unique ownership structure, extensive collection of championships, and passionate fanbase set them apart from other NFL teams, making them a favorite among football enthusiasts.
A Unique Ownership Structure
One of the most defining characteristics of the Green Bay Packers is their unique ownership structure. Unlike other NFL teams owned by wealthy individuals or corporations, the Packers are owned by their fans, who hold shares in the team. This non-profit, community-based ownership model ensures that the team remains firmly rooted in its city and its supporters, fostering a strong sense of loyalty and pride among its fanbase, who are affectionately known as âCheeseheads.â
A Legacy of Championships
The Green Bay Packersâ impressive record of success includes 13 league championships, more than any other team in NFL history. Four of these championships are Super Bowl titles, earned in 1967, 1968, 1997, and 2011. The teamâs illustrious past is filled with legendary players such as Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers, each of whom has left an indelible mark on the franchiseâs history. Their incredible accomplishments are immortalized in the Packers Hall of Fame, a testament to the teamâs enduring impact on the sport of football.
Lambeau Field: Home of the Packers
The iconic Lambeau Field, named after team founder Curly Lambeau, has been the Packersâ home since 1957. Known for its âfrozen tundraâ during winter games, Lambeau Field is the longest continually operating stadium in the NFL. The stadiumâs capacity of over 81,000 makes it the third-largest in the league, and it is renowned for its distinctive atmosphere and passionate fans, who are known to don their Cheesehead hats and brave the frigid Wisconsin temperatures in support of their beloved team.
A Promising Future
In recent years, the Green Bay Packers have continued to demonstrate their dominance on the field, with a talented roster that includes rising stars and seasoned veterans. The teamâs commitment to excellence, combined with their unparalleled fan support, ensures a bright future for the Packers. Under the guidance of head coach Matt LaFleur, the team is poised to compete for championships in the coming seasons, adding to their already impressive legacy.
Online Betting and the Packers
The rise of online sports betting has brought a new dimension to the world of sports, with football being one of the most popular options for fans looking to test their luck and knowledge. While this article is not focused on online betting, it is worth noting that the Green Bay Packers often feature in these discussions, given their storied history and consistent success.
When placing bets on the Packers, fans can choose from a variety of options, such as predicting the outcome of individual games, the teamâs overall season performance, or even the performance of specific players. As always, fans should engage in responsible gambling practices and adhere to the regulations in their jurisdiction.
Conclusion
The Green Bay Packersâ proud legacy, unique ownership structure, and devoted fans make them an exceptional team within the NFL. With a history of unparalleled success and a promising future ahead, the Packers continue to captivate football enthusiasts and inspire new generations of fans. As the team writes new chapters in its illustrious story, the Green Bay Packers remain a testament to the enduring spirit of community, dedication, and triumph in the world of professional football.
With the ongoing support of their fanbase and the drive to excel both on and off the field, the Packers are poised to remain a dominant force in the NFL for years to come. As they carry the legacy of past championships and legendary players, the Green Bay Packers continue to embody the true essence of American football, uniting people from all walks of life in a shared love for the game.

Legends Lost in 2022
Bill Russell July 31
If you care about success during a career, no athlete was better than Bill Russell, winner of 11 rings with the Boston Celtics (plus two NCAA championships and an Olympic gold medal). If you care about Boston, no athlete was better than Bill Russell, the bedrock of the Celticsâ mystique. If you care about social impact during a career, few could match the impact of Bill Russell, the NBAâs first Black head coach and a civil rights icon. Russellâs legacy is intertwined with the advent of modern basketball history, and the sport would be markedly different without him.
Guy Lafleur April 22
Guy Lafleur was one of the greatest hockey players ever, and he reached that status with style. âLe DĂŠmon Blondâ won five Stanley Cups for the Montreal Canadiens and remains the franchiseâs all-time leader in points and assists. After being selected first overall in the 1971 NHL draft, Lafleur took a while to enter hockeyâs class of elites, but he was a sight once he got there, powering a dynasty with six straight 50-goal, 100-point seasons. He retired in 1985 amid a dispute with Canadiens management, but returned for three more seasons in 1988.
Ray Guy Nov 3
The trophy for college footballâs best punter is named after Ray Guy for a reason. Widely considered the greatest punter of all time, Guy was the first punter to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft, the first punter to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, won three Super Bowls with the Raiders and earned six first-team All-Pro honors. And lest you think punters are unathletic, Guy was also a starting safety during his college career at Southern Miss, recording a school-record eight interceptions his senior year, and threw a no-hitter for the schoolâs baseball team.
Vin Scully August 2
Vin Scully was more an alchemist than an announcer. The legendary Los Angeles Dodgers announcer delivered some of baseballâs iconic calls over the course of his 67-year career on the mic, but his greatness was most evident during the dullest moments of a regular-season game. Even in a situation devoid of leverage, Scullyâs voice elevated the broadcast with analysis and anecdotes, sometimes on baseball and sometimes not. Itâs possible no one in the history of baseball was better at their job.
Kathy Whitworth December 24
The golfer with the most wins on a single professional tour isn't Sam Snead. Or Tiger Woods. Or Annika Sorenstam. No, that title belongs to Kathy Whitworth, whose 88 wins in the early decades of the LPGA remains the sport's high watermark. The Texas native's tournament wins spanned from 1962 to 1985, winning six majors and becoming the first female golfer to accrue $1 million in winnings along the way.

"It was like, wow," Malkin said with a laugh when remembering his rookie season. "Because my first year, everyone was new for me. But 'Sid' was already a legend here. His second year, he scored 120 points. I think he played the best year of his life. He was like dominating every shift and just a joy to watch."
He remembers how many points Sid had. đ
"There was a lot of talk about him," Crosby said. "I remember playing my first year here and everyone talking about him and his highlights and all of that stuff. You expect it to take a little bit of time to adjust with the different size ice and a new league, but he just came in and dominated right away. It was so fun. We were a pretty young team so we had a lot of younger guys kind of thrown in right away, and I just remember having a lot of fun just watching him do his thing out there."
OMGGGG
"I remember 2008 (Ovechkin) beat me, I finished second," Malkin said. "I was five or six points behind him, it's painful a little bit. Next year, I don't know, I got a little bit more lucky."
Awww
He became the fifth player in NHL history to win both the regular-season and playoff scoring titles, joining elite company in Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Guy LaFleur and Phil Esposito.
"Just dominant," Crosby said when asked what he remembers about Malkin's play that season. "You couldn't take the puck from him, whether he was physically just stronger on the puck or playing more of a finesse game and going through guys using speed, his hands, his hockey sense. When he's like that, it's great to watch. It's fun to have a front row seat for that."
SID LOVES GENOâS HOCKEY!!!!!
"I like this city," Malkin said. "It's good for hockey. I like the fans. I have a house here and all of my friends here. But it's good for me. I like the team here. It's a good team. I hope we win the Stanley Cup.
His answer is always the same.Â
In some ways, Malkin's legacy is complicated. Despite being a generational talent, he doesn't always get the recognition he deserves in the hockey world - like when he was left off the NHL's 100 Greatest Players list despite being the ONLY player in NHL history to win three Stanley Cups, two Art Ross Trophies, a Hart Trophy, a Ted Lindsay Award and a Calder Trophy.
"He needed to get more recognition for the things he did," Kunitz said. "But having a successful teammate (Crosby) that takes a lot of media makes it tough to maybe get the recognition that he deserves. He's a guy that is so special.
Kuni knows!!!!
But when Malkin himself thinks back about what he wants his legacy to be and how he wants fans in Pittsburgh to remember him, it's really quite simple.
"Good player, nice guy," Malkin said. "I want to play as long as I can, like seven, eight more years. I want to win a couple more Cups."
PLEASE!!!!!
Especially because anything Malkin accomplishes from here on out, he will be able to share with his son, Nikita, who will turn 3 years old on May 31.
"I hope my son, we start to skate together and he comes to games," Malkin said. "Every game he watches in Pittsburgh, he starts to understand more. I hope he goes to school in Pittsburgh, he lives in this city and he loves this city."
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sean McVay vs. Zac Taylor is a fascinating coaching duel
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
Super Bowl LVI features an elite head coaching matchup.
Itâs so easy to slip into cliches when discussing the links between the two head coaches in the Super Bowl, Sean McVay and Zac Taylor. Sure, thereâs an element of âstudent and masterâ to this, but thatâs kind of a lazy approach that doesnât appreciate the twists and turns along the way. Instead this is a battle of two, young, dynamic peers who represent not only eerily similar paths to this point, but the direction of the modern NFL.
The story of these two coaches really begins in 2007. Taylor, an undrafted quarterback out of Nebraska, was desperate to try and keep his playing dream alive. After being released by the Buccaneers he went to Canada, latching on the with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. It wasnât long before he hung up his cleats all together, becoming an offensive assistant at Texas A&M under his father-in-law, Mike Sherman.
While Taylor was struggling to make it back to the NFL, McVay saw the writing on the wall. A receiver at Miami of Ohio at the time, there was no way he was going to make it to the NFL â even as a camp invite. A strong football legacy throughout his family, McVay looked to follow in his grandfather Johnâs footsteps, a long-time coach of the New York Giants, and eventual executive of the 49ers during their glory years. Sean went straight from college to the NFL, becoming an offensive assistant for the Buccaneers.
The two coaches took different routes, but mirrored each other. Taylor using his experience as a passer to become a QB coach in Miami, McVay doing the same with wide receivers in Washington. Both showing incredible promise as young offensive minds, and getting promoted to the role offensive coordinator at extraordinarily young ages. Taylor became the offensive head of the Dolphins at the age of 30, with McVay taking over Washingtonâs offense at 28.
Both were trapped in terrible situations, but still shined. Taylor was credited with developing Ryan Tannehill as a passer and lifting the Dolphins, while McVay did the best he could with lackluster offensive personnel under Jay Gruden.
The shocker came in 2017 when McVay was named head coach of the Rams. The youngest head coach in NFL history, the hiring was a huge leap of faith. While heâd done great things with the likes of Kirk Cousins, Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson, it was still an extremely bold move.
There wasnât nearly as much luck for Taylor, who went down with the Dolphinsâ sinking ship, and returned to college football to rebuild his resume with the Cincinnati Bearcats. Then, not even a year into his new role, Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville abandoned the team, resigned, leaving Taylor in the lurch. Now it seemed the bright offensive mind would be snuffed out, swallowed by a new regime and left out to dry.
Luckily there was someone who believed in Taylorâs potential. Saw the man who developed Tannehill and identified the underlying talent. Sean McVay had found his new wide receivers coach in Los Angeles. The real master stroke in the hire was identifying future gaps on his staff. McVay knew that quarterbacks coach Greg Olson was making a brief stop on the Rams, and would unquestionably be hired away, as would offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, who was garnering head coaching buzz as well. Taylor would be the perfect man who could step in and continue Jared Goffâs development.
In only McVayâs second season as head coach, and Taylorâs first as quarterbacks coach, Goff flourished and the Rams made the Super Bowl. The young team wasnât ready to contend with the Patriots, but the potential of their young, offensive-minded approach was paying huge dividends.
The Bengals identified Taylorâs talent too, and much as it was a shock when McVay was hired by Los Angeles, it was a stunner to see Cincinnati bring in a QB coach as their head coach. The organization didnât want to wait, and knowing they needed a new quarterback that Taylor could develop, stunned the NFL world.
Now, in his third season with the Bengals, Zac Taylor is now in the Super Bowl, just as McVay made the big game in his second year. Two organizations took leaps of faith to put these two bright offensive minds in charge of teams, but there is no doubt that without McVay throwing Taylor a lifeline, heâs never in this position â or even potentially still struggling to build his resume in college football.
The Rams now enter their second attempt to hoist the Lombardi Trophy under McVay. Theyâre now the old team looking to demolish the young hopeful, just at the Patriots did to them in 2018. At the front of it all are two remarkably similar coaches who owe so much to each other, and no matter what happens, both seem poised to dominate their conferences for the next decade.

this might sound dumb, but how do you manage posting 2 different stories at once (the finches & bachelorette) ? i'm starting a new legacy soon (the lafleurs) but i'm still going to be posting my main one (the olsens) and i was just wondering how you do it :0 i currently have the olsens set up on queue and i didn't know if i should try to set my queue up for both or just post the lafleurs out of my drafts (or the alternative is post it on a sideblog). i'm sorry if this is weird!! thank you
this isnât dumb at all! Ummmmmm!!! So idk if Iâm gonna be a great help when it comes to this because Iâve kinda forgotten about the bachelorette lately lmao. But what I do is try to have a full day of posts for each. Like every other day. So one day is Finch one is bachelorette until I run out of bachelorette. (Itâs a lot easier to make posts for the finches because they do so much in a day!) And when I finally take screenshots of bachelorette I bump them to the top of my queue! Because usually I have 15-30 Finch posts in my queue. Lmao. But idk! Iâm gonna post this publicly Incase any of my followers have suggestions for how to balance out two stories!!

Legacy decisions
The day Ron Wolf traded for a relative unknown named Brett Favre, he poured the cement foundation for his Green Bay Packers legacy. More than signing Reggie White or hiring Mike Holmgren, trading for Brett Favre is the reason Ron Wolfâs name is spelled out on the Lambeau ring of honor.
When Ted Thompson picked Aaron Rodgers, he too burnished his entire legacy as a Packers GM.
Wolf and Thompson both also made many, many ill-advised draft picks, trades and free agent acquisitions. Yet Favre and Rodgers made them both look like geniuses. Never mind all their many other great or less than great decisions.
Love Guteyâs future
Just the same, the 2020 drafting of Jordan Love will write Brian Gutekunstâs Packers legacy. No, it wonât be how he handles the conclusion of Rodgers time in Green Bay, that clock is already nearing midnight. It wonât be any other draft homeruns or busts or trades. It will be Love. Can he play, or not?
Realistically, Love does not need to win a Super Bowl or be a Hall of Famer like Favre and Rodgers. Thatâs not a fair expectation for Love or Gutekunst. But the path Loveâs selection put the franchise on these last 3-years means he must be a top-15 NFL starting quality QB, or better. If heâs not, it will permanently tarnish Guteyâs legacy. In fact, Love will need to show some promise and hope by the end of his first season starting. If he doesnât, Gutekunst may be looking for a job.
LaFleur Legacy?
The only comparable legacy decision facing Matt LaFleur, heâs already made. Many NFL analysts and commentators assumed Joe Barry would be let go sometime in January after a, well-below expectations, season by the Green Bay defense. LaFleurâs choice to stick with Barry, when more exciting candidates were available, is going to sink or float his future legacy in Green Bay.

I thought an upgrade from Barry was obvious and inevitable. Heâs never had a record of success as a defensive coordinator, not in Detroit, Washington or Green Bay. With the Packers, his defenses have flashed in a handful of games. Overall, theyâve underperformed considering the talent Barryâs had to work with.
I think Brian Gutekunstâs legacy will be on a solid footing by this time next year. Iâm not sure Matt LaFleur will be the Packers head coach in 2024. Joe Barry and Jordan Love will be writing their legacy chapters in the next 2-yearsâor less.

When The Last Ember Falls by L.J. LaFleur
Cindra:
âAnd if I donât make it?â I asked, feeling the shield of chain mail tighten around my neck.
âYou wouldnât want to disappoint me, would you Cindra? Tarnishing our name, our legacyâŚ?â she paused, hunting for the right words until a cat-like smile brushed across her thin lips. âIf you fail, you might as well be a deserter. For only cowards and whores lie together in failure. I would hate for you to become one of those, if not both.â
The sudden urge to attack her had flared but I couldnât do it. No matter how much I wanted to slam her body against the nearest wood column and screamâI couldnât. I bowed my head, clenching my jaw for release. On my ascent, I caught her watchful eye, âI will not fail you,â I replied sternly.Â
