I had a dream I was kidnapped by a serial killer.

Through a series of flashes I watched her as she committed her other murders until my turn came around. She took two people, a man and women, and partially sedating and drowned them. She would do this in every city. I was just another one of those pairs.

The man who was also kidnapped with me did not know his fate, he while intoxicated, thought he was being taken home by her. We sat in her living room, her family also there. Knowing who she was I requested to go to the bathroom. At first she denied but I convinced her eventually so she permitted me to go. She told me not to memorise the house lay out in order to escape. We stood in the hallway, the door a metre away but I didn’t try to leave.

I knew it was a dream in a way, but I also know that if I tried to escape and didn’t believe entirely that I could get away, I would experience a more brutal death.

I asked her questions on why she killed people, about her life. She said that no one understood the pain she felt. That doing this was the only thing that relieved it. I expressed sympathy.

We entered back into the kitchen when I admitted I already knew the layout of this house, because it was identical to my home. She laughed about it and then instructed me to taste the water she would drown me in. Her family sat around the table, quiet. I knew that they’d tried to subtly help her past victims but they couldn’t stop her in the end.

I told her that her family must love her. That even though they hated what she did, they didn’t turn her in or stop her in any serious way. They outnumbered her but they stood by as she committed her crimes. She was silent and I asked if she’d heard me. She looked at me from the corner of her eye and then asked me to sit down by the basin.

I sat and then asked her if there was sedatives in the water. She admitted that there was and I told her that I didn’t mind, it would make my death easier. She binded my wrists and allowed me to put my head forward into the water. In all other times I’d witnessed her killing, it was always violent, they always screamed, some managed to break free but she got them in the end. I let myself drift away.

Her face was different after I died. She appeared remorseful. Her family asked her about it but she denied it.

I think it was a metaphor from the depths of my mind.

Then I had a dream about T4T Ladynoir. The akuma made all trans people on trains transition rapidly. They felt euphoric while doing so but all the train lines went out of control

I'm going to play even though it doesn't particularly apply to me, because (1) @wehadabondingmoment is awesome and I will never ignore her; and (2) I love talking about myself SO FREAKING MUCH.

So I actually don't really have any WIPs that are linkable. I mean, A Small but Stubborn Fire could technically all be published tomorrow, but I'm polishing each chapter weekly with the help of my beta readers to make steady improvements. Does that count as a WIP? I think so. Other than that, I have no other fics that are partially published. Everything is either a longfic with zero releases, or a one shot that is unreleased (unlinkable) or fully released (not a WIP).

So don't expect many links! But I can still talk about the WIPs!

WIPs

A Small but Stubborn Fire. Sabine POV, Sabine & Marinette story that significantly expands on Sabine's backstory while looking at how a parent would react to their child showing all the signs of serious trauma but won't admit anything to you. And, later, how one would react to finding out your kid is having near-death experiences on the reg. Racism, immigrant experience, family trauma, all that good stuff.

Taking Notes. Loveywalker AU one-shot TBD by end of February. I posted about this on Tumblr back in January maybe? Marinette spies on her parents and takes notes on how to be a good romantic partner so she can turn around and cement a serious romantic relationship with Catwalker as Loveybug.

Motorcycle Drive-by. Post-Lukanette breakup from Luka's POV. Likely a one-shot. He travels along the Seine musing about what might be wrong with him, and why he was so okay with dating a girl who was obviously head over heels for someone else. I think there's a lot more going on under the surface of placid Luka, and I want to write this. Homedog gets akumatized, gets dumped, and finds out who his father is in like the span of one hour. If you know the song by Third Eye Blind, that's the vibe I'm going for.

Trust. I want to know what was going on in Gabriel's head in his last moments, when he decided to trust his 14yo senti-son's life with his mortal enemy, who independently was also the girl he was trying to keep away from his son. How massively he must have come to trust her in the span of a few minutes.

Seeing Through. One-sided, T/M-rated reveal from Adrien's POV. Ladynoir is in a serious, long-term relationship that has advanced to intense over-the-costume action. Somehow, Adrien finds out LB is Marinette, but she doesn't know she's been outed. So Adrien is at school like that sweating James McAvoy gif, staring at Marinette every chance he gets, imagining all the things they've done to each other's bodies as superheroes, meanwhile Alya, Nino, and even Marinette notice him being kind of skeevy, like unable not to stare at her chest, checking out her butt when she bends over, etc.

UPCOMING

ASBSF: I am really excited about the big reveal. It's written, but I need to reshuffle some stuff because I had the layout of the boulangerie totally wrong, and this has a significant impact on how everything goes down.

Taking Notes. The current structure of the story is Marinette spies -> Marinette writes in her diary -> LVB and CW meet up -> LVB tries things -> the notes actually work, but in clumsy Marinette fashion. I've written the spying, the diary, and the end of the meetup. The rest is completely absent. I'm looking forward to writing it.

Motorcycle Drive-by. I have a flashback to Luka and Anarka when he was very young, a birthday celebration when he's sad his (unnamed-to-him) father again doesn't make an appearance.

Trust. I've been working on a meet-cute flashback for Gabriel and Emilie! Also showing Gabriel's respect for Marinette "from one punk to another."

Seeing Through. Bros, this idea took HOLD last week. I've never written anything with sexual content before (I've hardly written anything at all, tbf). This is gonna be different. Think: Marinette bending over to pick something up and Adrien remembering Ladybug's lack of panty line when he's running his hands over her (costumed) backside on a rooftop. Bc, dudes, it's the SAME FRIGGIN BUTT. It's his to touch! But not even she knows it!!!

I haven't mentioned Emma Mia! or Into the Bug-verse because they're longfics with virtually nothing written at all. One might even become my Big Bang application for 2024. (And the Emma Mia! one was someone else's idea originally so I should ask permission before releasing anything)

I know I haven't updated Ladrien Roommates in almost a year and Say Something has been nearly as long but aksfbkdsjb I swear they're still on the list. Quite frankly it might take me a while to get back to Say Something though, because I'm just...very stuck. And I keep rethinking the next few chapters.

Also, Happier--my Adrigaminette WIP--gets an honourable mention in the priority list because I SWEAR I'm going to get back to it at some point 😭

UPCOMING

Okay I'm super excited about the arc that the next chapter (which with a little luck may be posted today...) is going to set into motion. Especially because I don't think anyone quite knows where precisely I'm going with it...hehehe

Hm. I have one heart-to-heart scene I have planned for a few chapters from now where Ladybug gets to know Alya a little better and maybe starts to fall for her a little...

Looking forward to the next chapter!! Like, all of it! The thing is, I feel like I need a good chunk of time to really FOCUS on writing it. And I'm still navigating balancing writing time with my work schedule.

There's a little arc that will pop up in the chapter after next where Ladybug has trouble sleeping...and naturally there's no better way to fix that than for Adrien to invite her into his bed 👀

There is a conversation between Adrien and Kagami in the next chapter that was one of the reasons the length of this fic got out of hand 😂

Im not disagreeing but this is also only half true for LadyNoir.

What Adrien mostly has learned is that he himself shouldn't rely so codependently on Ladybug because it's too much for her and that it's okay when SHE relies on other people that doesn't mean she doesn't want him.

But non of this lead to the important partnership development of Chat Noir too getting someone/other people he can rely on the way Ladybug can. Who can he rely on?

All that happened is that Chat Noir now tries to "burden" Ladybug as little as possible with him needing her for emotional support, all the while Ladybug is now relying more than ever on him for said emotional support. And that highlights the problem:

If Adrien ever needs any kind of help with anything Chat Noir related and needs someone by his side as support, who does HE have to help HIM? This season Adrien for example is struggling more than ever with his cataclysm and the morality of using it on people, and yet he still has no one to talk to besides Ladybug for who he would feel bad for if he'd mentioned anything towards her because she needs him to be her unshakeable rock.

The resistance? This is Ladybugs team and season 5 is still mostly treating it them that way. He is just part of Ladybug's team and her main partner still available now, that doesn't mean Adrien can rely on any of them as Chat Noir. Kwamis choice Was pretty clear on that front, they are LADYBUG'S team.

And I don't think this is me being mean and nitpicking. The development you say that happened didn't actually happened that way and neither is it something to JUST be celebrated as GOOD.

Marinette is now IMMENSELY emotionally dependend - more than ever before - on Chat Noir and him being the only person who does not need to rely and depend on her 95% of the time and instead needs him to take care of her, even though that has long crossed the line of horrifyingly dangerous since Chat Noir has literally NO ONE and therefore he should be the ONE person who should be allowed to need her. But he doesn't get to have any actual support, he just has to continue BEING the support and handling everything on his own with plaggs help and plaggs help ALONE.

Marinette revealed herself to Alya because she needed someone to help her deal with her civilian life and to have someone to talk about all the Ladybug stuff when she didn't dare to talk to Chat Noir.

But Adrien as Chat Noir by this point is basically forcing himself to be as hyper independent from Ladybug and everyone else as possible beyond all reasoning and safety too, because she needs him so much right now to be the one who is okay and can pick up all the slack - especially strict identity RULES wise - if she needs him to, so that he barely dares anymore to ask or voice anything that goes beyond the absolute minimum.

I dont know what yall are watching but Ladybug is emotionally just as dependend on Chat Noir now as Adrien is on Marinette as civilian. They ARE still codependent, it just shifted in the way it's executed.

Adrien is now getting send to London and just like in "Risk" he apparently has no intention on letting anyone know. Least of all Ladybug which is the biggest red alert and indicator that Ladynoir merely developed into Chat Noir not daring to talk to or even ask his partner for help regarding ANYTHING no matter how on fire his civilian life is.

(which btw she CAN help him. Chat Noir has a horribly abusive parent who holds all the power over his life and who he as civilian can't escape because he's a minor. By the very layout of Miraculous' story Chat Noir should be Adrien's last escape into freedom and he SHOULD be allowed to run away to his partner Ladybug for safety. Abused and trapped children/teenagers absolutely run away if that's all they have left, and doing so as anonymous Chat Noir is by the very layout of the story the only way Adrien could when shit goes down like this... but the Ladynoir development actually tells me that under no circumstances would Adrien now EVER ask her for anything no matter how much he should and how much she would want him to do it. Because that literally want he learned in "Risk" when he brought up the secret identities again. He did that for a very logical reason, because he was being send away and then he would just be.. gone. But the only thing the episode cared about is that Adrien "learns" that apparently under no circumstances in all of reality is him asking for a reveal justifiable because the only way Chat Noir can exist in her leadership and team is if his entire civilian life gets to be inherently insignificant so she doesn't have to think about it or worry.

That was the biggest damage season 4 did to Ladynoir and it was literally one of the worst developments you could have for a partnership in a story like this when Chat Noir is literally Hawkmoth’s SON! And season 5 barely did a thing to undo this damage, where is this supposed to end?

Even if you wanna disregard all of Chat Noirs rights as a person of his own to... matter in this partnership, explain to me how does Marinette/Ladybug benefit from him having gotten THIS beaten into his head? What good is he for her when he's gone and unwilling to ask for help?

LADYBUG should have become his safe haven he can escape to because neither Nathalie nor Civilian Marinette or any other civilian character is going to be able to do shit here against Gabriel.)

And this is just.. pretty awful for this partnership and romantic couple. In the big picture we are seemingly leading up to right now, no individual identity in teh love square is going to benefit from any of this in the end, no matter how good or passabel it may seem in a vacuum.

Unless of course the last episodes of season 5 are going to pull a whole Miracle and suddenly fix this but I would be genuinely surprised because in over 4 and a half seasons nothing about Miraculous' narrative ever lead up to anything else. Barely anything about the hopeless situation of the season 4 finale has changed judging by the whole "Adrien leaves Paris" plot coming back which everybody is STILL helpless against. apparently we are just elaborating on it now in detail explaining WHY it was so bad in the first place. And that means taht everything fucked up about the last 5 episodes of season 4 is most likely coming back too because legit barely anything was actually taken care of and it's all starting all over again!

I can't be the only one who sees that we are still doing circles in a dead end?? How is any of this supposed to be good in more than just the shortsighted "now" sense? What "solution" is this supposed to lead up to anymore, it feels like we are doing everything upside down!

Codependency in relationship is bad but people is okay if it's the love square and I don't understand why it's ok

Codependency in real relationships is bad, and I can see why it can be off-putting to people when the Love Square falls into it. But it's a very appealing trope to watch and read, with the comfort fantasy it fulfills of being able to be vulnerable with another person and having complete faith that they'll help you as best you can, and that you'll do the same with them. That these two can rely on each other, even when everything else is breaking around them.
