Is not even the complete fragment, I know, but this simple line is enough to evoke multiple images and interpretations.

For me it means the fight of this pair of sttuborns against themselves, about this love's meaning and this unwanted but powerful force wich they believed could not reach them.

Both of them went through horrible experiences that led them to lose everything they once loved, and silently, they clung to the idea of never letting their guard down again. So, it's obvious that they resist when a feeling like that takes hold of them.

Lady is struggling with insomnia and discovers that Vergil's bed is the only place she can sleep peacefully - without him in it, of course. Things take a somewhat melancholic turn, however, when she finally asks him where he's been going at night.

This took me far too long to write, and I don't even know why... It ended up being longer than I'd planned, and I've been spending days trying to cut it down and make it more streamlined lol. Despite my best efforts I was still working on it today, even though I started it weeks ago.

But! I still have half an hour(ish) to go until midnight in the UK so technically I made it in time! XD

A Headcanon about Verlady:

I can't help myself but to think of Dante as the "Fairy Godmother" in this relationship. I even have this clear image in my mind of him wearing a shirt with "Verlady's #1 Fan" printed on it.

When Lady is injured in battle, Vergil must act quickly to save her—even if it means crossing some boundaries.

Alright it’s happening - It’s @verladyweek !

I tried my best to have something for every day, but due to life commitments there may be some that I have to miss.

Day One’s prompts were Rainy Rendezvous / Huddling For Warmth. 

This story also incorporates the Day Four prompts - Scars & Stiches / Confession, so please accept this as my contribution for that day too!

Let me just say this now - I absolutely ADORE rainy stories. Can’t get enough of ‘em! The only problem is that I’ve ended up writing a lot of rainy stories already, so I decided to try something different and go for the Huddling For Warmth prompt! (Although rain still does feature in it a little hehe).

VXLENTINE'S DAY 2024: Bridging the Distance

A wonderful good day to you, Verlady nation! We are back with some information about the upcoming VXLENTINE'S DAY - a day to spread some love and share thoughts and fanworks that focus on Vergil and Lady.

What is VXLENTINE'S DAY?

VXLENTINE'S DAY is a celebration dedicated to the platonic, romantic or sexual relationship between Vergil and Lady from the Devil May Cry series. VXLENTINE'S DAY will start on February 14th, but late submissions to the tag #vxlentine will be shared by this blog until March 14th. All Verlady Week submission rules apply to fanworks shared during this celebration.

How can I participate?

There are lots of ways to participate in this year's VXLENTINE'S DAY celebration!

Create and share a fanwork based on this year's theme: Bridging the Distance.

Share a snippet or preview of a project you are working on - future contributions to Verlady Week are welcome and allowed to be shared!

Send a message to this blog and rec your favourite fanwork! All submissions will be compiled in a community's pick rec list - a virtual box of chocolates, if you will, of your favourite creations to easily share with others and hopefully delight your day as you maybe even discover new fanworks to shower in love! (Please include a link to the fanwork!)

Send in a short (up to 4 lines) love letter, note, quote or poem and receive a Valentine's graphic! (Submissions can be romantic, funny, sad, whatever comes to mind when you think of Vergil and Lady.)

Submission deadline for recs and Valentine's graphic texts is February 9th. Please post your creations and previews sometime between February 14th and March 14th and use the tag #vxlentine or feel free tag @verladyweek to make sure your post will be seen and shared by this blog!

All submissions can be sent in anonymously if you'd prefer not to be credited in the rec list and/or Valentine's graphics.

A fanwork, in the context of this celebration, includes anything and everything you can think of: fanart, fanfiction, AMVs, collages, moodboards, meta posts, headcanons, memes, and probably many more ways to express your love for Vergil and Lady that I cannot think of right now.
