The way people are becoming anti-children nowadays is really sad. And I'm not talking about people not wanting to have kids of their own, that's fine and something that shouldn't be shamed nor up to someone else to debate. No, I'm talking about the people who adamantly hate these little humans for simply existing, wanting to ban them from spaces due to them having emotional reactions that they are still learning to understand (you know, the kind of lessons that everyone had to learn and figure out at one point). It's gotten to the point where I've even seen these types of people genuinely support children being harmed and deny their hurt under the consensus of "Well then maybe they shouldn't be there," in your average public space. Like, imagine thinking hating on children, people who need assistance and guidance, is something to be proud of.

Since Agravaine was the subject of the last prompt, I figure I balance it out this time around. My Agravaine's a big ol' nerd who has a tendency to sacrifice sleep for his hobbies, so here's Laurel trying to convince him to put the pen down and go back to bed for his own sake. Despite appearances, Agravaine is rather soft for Laurel at the end of the day--one of the few people he can admit has the honor.

imagine if you got your brain stripped out but you had a magic failsafe in place so I guess instead of turning into a mindless drone you just reverted back into your child self And managed to stick around in your original form as a spectre so you could yell at your child self anytime your child self didn’t meet your expectations or do as good as they needed to to be as successful in life as you were.

that’s what’s going on. as far as I understand it and the jury’s still out on the details given the fact that no one else who got the same brain-wipe seems to be nearly as coherent and capable as him nor did they turn into actual children like he did. baby pep doesn’t like getting yelled at all the time and is being raised in a very different environment than original pep was so he’s not the same person emotionally but he’s basically just. if peps had to start over from babyhood, but with his adult self looking over him criticizing his every move to his face and his moms are all settled down together and domestic instead of volatile and mid break-up

shoutout to the guy who came into the store today who saw me struggling to switch the doors so the wind wouldn't pull it off its hinges and showed me how you unlatch it so it will open with absolutely zero judgment and shoutout to the guy who came in a half hour before closing and was super cheerful and reassuring when I wasn't sure how to answer his question and shoutout to the delivery guy who had to ask for my name so he could write down which employee he delivered to and called me "dear" and shoutout to the guy who owns the car dealership next door and comes in to use our bathroom sometimes who walked by and checked that I knew how to switch the doors back before closing and shoutout to the guy who's usually really cranky and snide but is gentler with me because I'm new and shoutout to the older guy who heard me say my dad was in the Coast Guard and spent a few minutes while the store was slow chatting to me about it and shoutout to the guy who very patiently waited for me to work out a problem that I hadn't encountered before even though it took like 15 minutes and when I apologized profusely for not knowing how everything works yet he just congratulated me on working it out on my own and said he was proud of me. shoutout to guys I guess

It's all just in the background (hence the awkward crop) but this nonverbal exchange between Paul and Della as he watched her play the slots while Perry chatted with the guy who provided the final clue is just priceless. I love how fond Paul is of Della and his little head shakes as she purposefully riles him up. It's great.
