Sir Waylon of Gotham
Waylon wasn't much for talkin' to hoity-toity well-to-doers. Didn't much like their attitude. Or the way they looked at 'im. Lookin' down their noses, all pinched-faced and holier-than-thou, like he was the scum of the earth for the way he looked. And while Waylon wouldn't deny that he was scum, it sure weren't for lookin' the way he did. He'd earned that title fair 'n square, through hard work 'n strikin' fear inta the people of Gotham.
And he did that by bitin' they's arms off, not 'cause he was a li'l scaly.
Point was, Waylon didn't talk much with fancy people. Yeah, he talked to the Bat Brood and they could half be considered fancy on account of mostly bein' Waynes under the mask, but they didn't count. Not really. 'Specially their newest petite couyon that liked to swing about in his sewers like the chit owned the place. He didn't know how the kid was added to the family- coulda been adopted, coulda been one a' the other one's partner, coulda been another blood son a popped up outta nowhere 'gain.
Waylon didn't ask and the chit never said. No, all Phantom ever wanted to talk 'bout was how Waylon was doin. Idjit was far too concerned about Waylon's well-bein' when he shoulda been mindin' his own damn business. Kid said it was part a his business. That heroes had to check in on the reformed, make sure they were well and happy so they didn't have a need to get back inta villainy. Waylon wanted to call bullshit on 'im but he just didn't have the heart when the kid looked so earnest 'bout it.
And maybe the kid was swingin' in all the time just to check in on an Old Croc. Maybe even the kid didn't mind bein' 'round 'im an 'is big, scary teeth. Sure it were more likely he needed an escape an' the sewers were a place most Bats didn't venture less they had to, but iffin that were true- kid didn't have to find and talk to him every time.
All this was to say that he'd gotten used to seein' Danny 'round the sewers, and even seein' Jay when the older kid was sent to bring the other back topside.
Who he had not gotten used to seein' in the sewers, though, was a pretty thing all done up in medieval dress and glowin' green. Nor was he used to the hulking Knight done up in glowin' black armor standin' next ta her.
And, again, Waylon wasn't much for talkin' to hoity-toity people, let alone Ghost Royalty or some such, but he was still a man with manners. An' they were in his sewers (well, an' Grundy's, but the big lug weren't here, so's point was moot) so he was haven'ta be the one to greet 'em.
He growl echoed off the stone and muck as he approached the two beings that were floating midair, just above the water. They both looked lost until he fully rose from the grime and addressed them.
"Youins need somethin? Ya lookin fer Danny?"
And, well, Waylon said he had manners. Never said he was gonna use 'em.
"Oh!" said the sweet thing in flowing gown, her voice just as soft as she looked. "Yes! You must be the good Sir Waylon of Gotham that the King speaks so fondly of. I am Princess Dorathea and this is my personal guard, Fright Knight."
Sir Waylon? Now that's not somethin' he's ever heard afore. Him? Deservin' of a title like Sir? Ain't no way. He weren't 'bout to say nothin', but it sure did make him feel all flustery that a noble Lady like her would think so highly of a monster like him.
"Nah I wouldn' say he's 'xactly fond a me, but the name is Waylon, yeah, uh- My Lady."
And she smiled at 'im, sweet as anythin', like he weren't made a sharp edges an spilled blood. The big Knight aside her was actin like that too, posture relaxed as he just let her get closer. Closer an most people ever dared. 'Cept Phantom an some a the Bats. Was it a ghost thing? No fear a death, so whats scary about a big man with sharp teeth anymore?
"Would Sir Phantom be near-abouts?" she asked. "I require his counsel on matters of import."
"Sorry, cher- uh, My Lady," he grumbled, "ain't gotta clue where he's at. Somewhere's topside, prolly."
Her shoulders slumped just the slightest, obviously disappointed in his answer. And try as he might to want to give her a better one, he only knew where the kid was when he wanted to hang around underground. Waylon avoided the streets at all costs these days, not wantin' to risk trouble again. He'd spent enough of his days wastin' away in Arkham and Blackgate, thanks.
The Lady turned thoughtful though and graced him with a tilt of her head and a smile. "Perhaps you would deign to assist me instead, Sir Waylon?"
"Well nah, I'd love ta, My Lady. Supposin' its somethin' I can help ya with."
"Yes," she said, circling around him in a graceful glide, "so long as you are willing, you will suit just fine."
"Ya still haven't told me what ya need help with, ah- My Lady."
Waylon couldn't see the Knight's expression but he could almost feel the amusement pourin' off a him. And he wondered just what the hell he'd agreed to that a guy like that'd find it funny.
"My brother is making moves to take back the Kingdom. He has amassed a small, but skilled contingent of rebels and intends to usurp me at the upcoming Yule Celebration."
"So ya need muscle ta help stop 'im?"
"Oh no," she said, sweet but full of venom- like arsenic. Her grin was now full of teeth, teeth much to sharp for a proper Lady like her, and her eyes turned to glowing reptilian points. "I can take care of him myself. I intended to ask Sir Phantom along as contingency."
She looked him up and down and the Knight standing guard behind her was projectin' a certain smugness as he did the same.
"You, however, Sir Waylon," she said, and the tone near sent a shiver down his spine. "Will do well as both warrior and suitor."
"What say you?"

It's Not Sugar by ConspiracyCrows :
Ellie is destabilized and nearly killed by Vlad while trying to make another, "better", clone of Danny. In order to stabilize her she was de-aged to about 7, and now has chronic issues balancing her ecto the same way a type one diabetic has issues balancing blood sugars. In fact that's the cover story the pair use when Danny enrolls Ellie at Gotham Academy. The one favor he will allow Vlad to do for them. While Vlad seems to have finally come to his senses about Ellie, Danny won't let him anywhere near her ever again. Which is why they moved to Gotham in the first place, Vlad won't step foot there. It also helps that Lady Gotham is more than happy to have the Realms' Ambassador to the Living in her streets. They settle into Crime Alley, and Danny may or may not have forgotten to introduce himself to the Haunt owner, assuming Gotham would handle the niceties as he gets Ellie settled, and handles the pressing issues of the negotiations between the city, the realms, and those denizens of both who want or need one thing or other. Word Count: 23,052 On-going
Imprint by Hashtag_DriveBy :
He screwed his eyes shut, held his breath, desperately wished that he was back in his safehouse, alone and blissfully unaware. But the weight in his hands remained, and when he opened his eyes, it was to the bean-shaped 'fuck you' the Lazarus Pit had kindly bestowed upon him, arms and legs folded up against his front beneath off-white muslin while tiny lips smacked softly.
What the fuck.
What the hell was Jason supposed to do now?
Word Count: 119,791 On-going
If you find a vigilante in the dumpster by lunamugetsu :
The plan was simple, Jazz and her now de aged brother would go lay low in Gotham, act as a mother-son duo. Wait as Danny heals up by absorbing the ambient ectoplasm leaking from the city and Vlad gives the green light that he has a safe place they could stay. Plus with the blessing from the Ghost of Gotham and knowing that even the GIW wouldn't dare to encroach on Batman's territory, it was a pretty safe plan. That was until a certain vigilante just keeps on finding himself in their dumpster. / / It was a normal night of patrol for Jason. Beating up a bunch of criminals. Shooting them with bullets (they're rubber bullets Bruce! Calm down!) Get stabbed by them. Pass out from blood loss in the place he was taking refuge in Wake up in an apartment, his wounds bandaged and all. And to a black haired blue eyed kid staring at him. "I found you in the garbage!" Word Count: 120,002 On-going
Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away by FearlessHades :
After escaping from the GIW, Danny crash lands in Gotham. He's six years old, his entire life has burned behind him, and one of the Gotham vigilantes is running around with a stifled Core. What's a kid to do?
A Jason Adopts Danny fic featuring De-aged!Danny, family feels, and Jason's Grand Master Plan going completely off the rails.
Word Count: 53,233
The (Un)Living Weapon by Anonymous :
They had only planned on raiding the facility. They hadn't expected it to be barren. Apart from a kid, chained and muzzled. With eyes of Lazarus water. Jason didn't intend on getting a kid out of the whole ordeal, but unlike Bruce, he is ready to kill to keep him safe. Word Count: 47,483
Mending a Family by Katelover98 :
Sequel to Creating a Family.
I decided to write this after getting such a good response on that fic. However, I wrote this new fic here instead of updating it in case anyone liked the open ending and didn't want more to spoil the way I left it. There won't be an overarching plot but a bunch of one-shots that show how Jason went from no family to a family that would kill and die for him.
This fic won't have a set schedule so I'll update when inspiration hits. That means one week I might update daily and other times it might take a while. It'll depend
Fair warning, I don't know much about Roy Harper, but I've done a bit of research so when he shows up, hopefully, he'll be well-written.
Word Count: 45,852
Visitant Lights by Shynnohwen for Cielle_Noire, AcesAndSpades72, foldingfacets :
After a run in with Vlad that left the entire Fenton family turned into little children and a subsequential kidnapping by what they think are ninjas the Fenton family escape to Gotham to lay low and figure out how to reverse their ages as Sam and Tucker help where they can, growing sense of dread as months goes by and they are no closer to fixing this. Danny, frustrated at lack of progress and tiny body, runs into the Red Hood while stealing his wheel to replace the one he broke. This results in Jason and the Pit Madness co-parenting, Dick mistaken for a stripper, Tucker unknowingly becoming Oracle's archnemesis, Sam believing the local coffee addict is a serial killer, Damian taking on an apprentice, various members of the Rogue Gallery becoming self-appointed uncles and aunts, Amity Park becoming a hellhole full of supernaturally powerful people trying to survive, Damian trying to get a certain Fenton adopted into his family, and Joker developing severe and crippling phasmophobia. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now has a TV Tropes! https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/VisitantLights Word Count : 82,890

Dan is (Insert Character)
So, I've recently fallen in love with the idea of Dan being reformed and being a part of various characters Backstories, like This post about Dan being a Farmer Friend of the Kent's
So here are a few more examples of that!
Dan is Thomas Wayne: Dan is reformed and moves to Gotham to start a new life, while there he meets and befriends the elderly Wayne Couple, who never managed to have kids. Eventually the Wayne end up adopting Dan (who changed his name to Thomas), and he becomes Thomas Wayne. He even has a Kid. Unfortunately as a Parole Requirement, he had to lock away his powers, meaning he couldn't save himself or his Wife the day they got murdered in a Mugging. He became a Full Ghost, and in his rage at the death of his wife he relapsed into his old Violent self. Danny, while he understood the feeling, unfortunately did have to arrest him for his rage filled rampage. His Sentence is finally up, and he wants to see how his Son is doing.
Dan is Billy Batsons Dad: A little known fact about Billy Batson is that whenever he transforms into Shazam, he unconsciously makes himself look more like his Father than a future version of himself. So imagine his shock when, in the middle of a fight, one of his enemies takea a closer look at him and suddenly yells out, "Is that DAN!?". Billy now wants to know how these Extra Dimensional Monsters know his Dad's name. And why they seem Terrified of him...
Dan is Alfred's Dad: Alfred is taking one of his famously rare Vacations, and the rest of the Batfam decides to ask where he is going. "Oh, I'm going to visit my Father" "Wait what? Aren't you like 100 years old?! How is your dad still alive?!" "Did you not know? Alfred is a Demigod" "WHAT?!"
Dan is Jonathan Kent: Dan settles down somewhere in Smallville, Kansas. Unfortunately, as a Halfa he isn't physically capable of having kids, but as luck would have it a space pod carrying a small baby crashes into their fields one night. When that baby starts developing powers, Dan is experience enough to help him control them though. Just imagine one day, a Villain discovers Superman's Civilain Identity and tries to attack his Dad, only for his dad to be stronger than him.
Dan is Ra's Al Ghul's Dad: Dan was reformed and decided to get sent back in time to live his life, so he wouldn't interrupted the present Timeline. While there he met a lady and had a Kid. Unfortunately, he was forced to return to the Zone to wait for the Future to happen when his son was barely into adulthood, but he did decide to give him a Birthday Gift. The Lazarus Pits. Once in the Zone, he had to wait for a few centuries to pass before he was allowed to return, but once he was allowed back to the Living Realm he immediately began to search for his Son. The Pits should have kept him alive this long, so hopefully he lived a nice long life. Wait, who are these Cult Guys around his Lazarus Pits? And, where is his son? And why does that lady feel so familiar? Who is that little Demon Brat?
Dan is General Sam Lane: Simple really, Dan is Lois Lanes dad, and she is technically a Quarter Ghost but she had never awakened her powers. If you want to use the Injustice Timeline, then Lois gets resurrected after a few days and finally awakens her Halfa Powers. She is there to stop Superman from fully turning to the Dark Side, and asks her Dad to help Clark keep his emotions in check.
What do you think?

DPxDC Family Week June 20 (Day 3)
Prompt: Adoption | Learn
A/N: This was inspired by a rl video I saw as well as a Owl House Episode I watched with my friend a little while ago
AO3 Link: DPxDC Family Week Contributions
It had been months now since Danny had moved from Amity to Gotham after his parents had disowned him as well as suddenly told him that he wasn't their son but adopted. It was a hard pill to swallow especially after his parents hadn't taken Jazz and him telling them the truth about Phantom very well. They didn't react negatively nor positively at first. They had just in return told him about having adopted Danny when he was baby and then told him that they no longer felt adequate to take care of him, especially with their research. He was welcome to stay until he found a new place to stay, they weren't 'heartless' enough to just kick him out and make him homeless.
Danny still had packed his most precious things, clothes and some of his personalized Fanton-Tech and started couch hopping mostly with Tucker, the Mansons still hated his guts. He had dropped out of School in favor of finding a job and hoped he would soon earn the money to get a place of his own. Refusing to take any of the money Sam tried to give him for a one room apartment.
Danny had understood he really had, despite Jazz overanalyzing him or his friends constantly questioning why he seemed to disassociate every now and then. Their worry got to the point that Jazz had decided that Danny needed a distraction that had nothing to do with ghosts, job hunting or his current sleeping arrangements. And that resulted in her convincing his friends in helping him find out more about his biological parents and any relatives he could additionally have. Surprisingly they hadn't had a lot of trouble finding out anything, though Danny suspected that it had a lot to do with some most likely very illegal hacking Tucker did.
Either way they had found out that Danny had originally come from Gotham, he apparently had an older brother. Who was the one that had given him up. There was a record of his home life having not been the best considering his registered mother had been recorded as a drug addict. He didn't blame that unknown older brother for giving Danny up for adoption, they most likely had wanted to protect Danny.
Of course that knowledge had been enough for Danny but not for his friends. And so Sam had gathered up all the money he had refused before, Jazz had packed up his bags and Tucker had organized a place for him as well as an entire file on how to best find his brother as well as a second safety file regarding the Bats in case they didn't like his ghostly presence. With that in hand the three had sent him off to Gotham making him promise to check in with them regularly and telling him that they would have everything in control in Amity until they could join him.
So after having been disowned by his parents, dropped out of school and more or less forced on a self discovery journey by his friends, he arrived in Gotham where the spirit of the town welcomed him like a lost son returning to their family. Let him tell you. Waking up in your hotel room in the middle of the night to an eldritch looking spirit hovering over your face welcoming you as her lost knight was not fun.
Additionally he hadn't planned on seeking his brother out but the Lady had been pretty insistent and so Danny did end up seeking him out. The files Tucker had provided were top notch. Ancients, his best friend had even figured out that his brother was essentially Red Hood aka Jason Todd-Wayne (he did not freak out that his favorite vigilante was his brother, no he didn't). Even if Tucker hadn't then Lady Gotham would have told him by trying to get him to reconnect with them using his alter Phantom. How in the name of Ancients did Lady Gotham even know about that?!
Of course reconnecting hadn't been easy and after several confidence boosting calls with his sister and friends as well as late night visits from the city's spirit, he had finally approached Red Hood as Phantom first. Which led to him realizing that his brother had corrupted ectoplasm in his system that needed to be removed asap. Well their first meeting ended up with Phantom sticking his hand into Red Hood's chest on instinct to remove all the corrupted ectoplasm.
Needless to say that first meeting ended with him getting chased throughout Crime Alley and getting bullets that couldn't even hurt him, shot at him. It took him a week to clear that misunderstanding as well as come clean to his older bio-brother. And then it took another week to reveal all the hidden truths like how he died and became half-ghost, how his brother had apparently also died and got brought back wrong which explained the corrupted ectoplasm, and how they both took up the vigilante badges. After the initial problems they had gotten along pretty well very quickly and Jason had become the elder brother to Danny that he always had wanted to be before having given him up for adoption.
Of course the other bats apparently got wind of his existence pretty quickly which ended after another week with Danny learning that his brothers entire family were vigilantes too. No he hadn't been suspicious of Bruce at first after his brother had told him of his adoption by a billionaire. Shut up, he did not check out the entire Manor invisible which led to him finding the Bat Cave and figuring out they were, what Danny liked to call, Gotham's furry brigade. Okay he did but he blames his obsession with protections and told his brother that much to which he got his hair ruffled.
Of course the moment Bruce Wayne got to know about this he had been interrogated about his relation to Jason, him coming to Gotham and his status as Phantom and half-ghost to which his brother ended up ready to throw hands with his own adopted father. Danny had first thought him to be a fruitloop but then once the man was satisfied, they had pretty quickly moved him from his hotel room to the manor and flat out told him that he would help him become a better vigilante.
Because apparently the moment they knew, Jason's adopted siblings did their research in regards to Phantom and found out that he still had a lot to learn and they could teach him how to become better at the whole hero stick, including balancing his day and night life.
So five weeks, after meeting his brother and reconnecting, later with Danny working part-time at Wayne Enterprise during the day that started as a cover for him but quickly got serious the moment Tim found out he was apparently brilliant (Which honestly, he was not. He was just obsessed with space.) That also resulted in signing him up for science classes and then upgrading his part time job from errand boy to the Aerospace Department Assistant.
So now after months spent in Gotham and deciding to stay there, his sister and friends pretty much told him that he was making the best decision of his life for once after seeing the progress he had made in balancing his hero life as well as getting a job and proper schooling. The Waynes also pretty much all but officially adopted him into the family. His brothers siblings even had referred to him several times as a brother too and Danny didn't know how many times he had told a reporter now that, 'Yes, he was Jason's biological brother.', 'No he was not a Wayne like is brother.', 'No, he was not getting adopted by Bruce too.' and 'No he would not attend any of the Galas the Waynes go to.'
Really the media watching the Waynes was probably only waiting for Bruce to announce an adoption. His friends, sister and even Jason, that traitor, had a bet running on how much longer Danny could tell Bruce no. Seriously, he was going to be 18 in three years anyway, why was everyone so interested in his adoption status when he was going to be a legal adult in a couple of years anyway. Besides his first adoption didn't work out, why would they think he would just agree to be adopted again? They did not know his true thoughts on this though.
Danny yawned as he made his way over to his workplace. He had a project to finish and a special meeting with Tim later today. He was the youngest Aerospace Engineer Assistant of Wayne Enterprise in their department but that didn't mean he wasn't as good as the others at least according to Tim anyway. His obsession with space was probably the only reason he was so good and had corrected at least five equations of his colleagues.
Dick would probably scowl him and Damian if he heard his thoughts would drag him to another training that was supposed to boost his self-confidence that hopefully involved less stabbing than the last one he had been dragged to. He should have never gifted a Fanton ecto-sword to the kid. It had been for his collection not special stabby training!
Really he had come to love his brother's siblings and he knew they meant well but he was self-aware. (Jazz and Jason would very much like to disagree here.) Besides it was already enough with the way they had accepted him into the family and apparently kept referring to him as brother despite the fact that he wasn't.
Speaking of which, his phone vibrated with the bat-chat going off about today's patrol and who was supposed to mentor him today.
+++++++++++++++++++++
IseeThings: Hey Ghost-Bro, you with me after your work for patrol?"
AnimalHeaven: Thomas, Father promised that Daniel is with me tonight.
OnMyChandelier: This is unfair. Baby Ghost, why don't you come visit me in Bludhaven?
OneShotKill: Butt off Dick. Spooks is with me tonight! Gotta show him the ropes of how to bust drug deals the correct way.
CantSenseMe: 😕🥺🥷🦸‍♂️👌
WhoNeedsSleep: I hate to say it guys. But he IS with Duke today.
IseeThings: Phantom and Signal, the Power Duo!
AnimalHeaven: Unacceptable.
WhoNeedsSleep: Look there is a big Project tomorrow morning WE needs him for. He needs sleep.
OneShotKill: Rich coming from you, Replacement.
HuntingMeHuntingYou: Guys, Tim is right, I am with Duke today.
IseeThings: GUYS! DAMIAN IN MY ROOM WITH A KNIFE!!
++++++++++++++++++++++
Danny couldn't help the grin at the cover Tim gave him for tomorrow morning when he would have to go to the legal office for the last of his papers. Thank the Ancients he had asked him for help with his little surprise for everyone. It also helped that Jason was keeping Bruce off his back.
"I really hope they will like the surprise, getting kicked out a second time won't be fun…" Danny muttered as he put his phone back into his pocket. He glanced at the innocent looking brown folder on his desk and Ancients, was he nervous.
Tim had assured him several times that it would be okay and that the others would be overjoyed. Jason had even made him call Jazz to help him calm down and get reassurance from her as well. They told him that what he was going to do was alright with them but he couldn't help but be nervous.
Yes they had welcomed him into the family but this was a whole other level he wasn't sure how they would react to it. For a brief moment Danny wondered if he would get to experience Damian's stabbynes without having to rile up the little guy or be dragged to train with him.
"You're worrying too much again." A cup of coffee was placed on his table as he looked up sharply at Tim who stood next to him sipping on his own cup of death wish.
"Shouldn't you be in a meeting?" Taking a sip of the offered cup Danny smiled, thank the Ancients that he and Tim had the same taste in coffee. Even if the others kept saying it's unhealthy, even making Jason question their blood relation at times.
"Still got some time. I wanted to make sure you're still good and not freaking out like that time you first saw the Riddler, little bro." The older shrugged and Danny glared lightly. They were going to hold it over him for the rest of his life. So what if he freaked out when he met the Riddler for the first time. Sue him, the guy is dressed in so much green he couldn't help but think that the guy got dipped in ectoplasm to the point he tried to soup him only to end up throwing the thermos at the guy's face in a panic when that didn't work. He had been glowing for Ancients sake!
"Just go to your meeting." Grumbling, he turned away from the Co-CEO that apparently liked to check on him way too much between his breaks and opened his company's provided laptop with the latest status and calculations of the latest engine he had been working on.
A week later Danny was pacing in his room. Everyone else was already down at the family dinner, Alfred had organized and Danny was most likely the only one missing. He had a call with Jazz earlier. Confirming with her once again that what he was going to do was really really alright with her. Even if his former parents had disowned him it would never change the fact that Jazz was his sister, Ancients even Jason had assured him about that fact.
"Okay Danny, you can do that. You faced worse things. This is gonna be childsplay."
A knock on his door startled him out of his pacing and Danny ended up floating a little as his brother opened his door and peaked in. "You okay there little spooks?"
"'m fine!" He hurriedly said as Jason raised an eyebrow. Danny just grabbed the still innocently looking brown folder and pushed the elder out of his room who only chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"You know I haven't thank you yet for making me win that bet."
"Ancients, you just changed your bet with my friends when I told you my plan!"
"Still won it."
"Let's just go down."
Once they arrived in the dining room Danny couldn't help but swallow as he took a seat next to Jason and noted how everyone plus extended / unofficial family was there. The brown folder lay innocently across his lap and he could see Damian eyeing it from the corner of his eyes. Great if the youngest had already seen it then the others surely had noticed Danny carrying around that folder with him too. How was he going to bring it up now? Should he do it now or wait? It wasn't too late to just run now? He could disintegrate it, but that would make all the help Tim gave him for nothing. Maybe-
A pat on his shoulder brought him out of his starting spiral and Danny looked up at Jason who was nodding with his head in Bruce's direction. Tim was also giving him an encouraging smile and also motioned for him to get it over with. Did the two know he was contemplating running away now? He shook his head.
Okay he could do it. Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves Danny cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention.
"Uhm, Bruce? I was wondering…" The words good stuck in his throat but the man in question looked at him waiting for him patiently as the others slowly quieted down giving him curious looks except for Jason and Tim. "...could you maybe take a look at these papers?"
He carefully slid the folder over the table but with nothing in his hands now he started wringing the end of his shirt. "Maybe you could sign them, you know, just for legality."
"I thought Jason was your legal guardian? Why would Bruce need to sign when Jason could…" Dick looked confused at first but trailed off when he leaned over to get a glimpse of the papers Bruce had been leafing through before the man froze.
There was a long moment of silence before Dick suddenly sprung up from his seat nearly vaulting over the table and hugged Danny squealing and confusing everyone else at the table. While Bruce finally unfroze, opening his mouth to ask Alfred for a pen that the butler was already holding out to him with a knowing smile.
"It is legal now, Daniel James Todd-Wayne."
The moment Bruce's words registered with everyone else Danny got tackled into a group hug as words like 'Finally!' Or 'You kept us waiting long enough.' reached his ears. Looks like he really shouldn't have had anything to worry about his official adoption into the Wayne family.
Well he guessed the next time a reporter asked him he could answer, 'Yes, he was Jason's biological brother.', 'Yes, he was a Wayne now.', 'Yes, Bruce had adopted him.' , 'No he would still refuse to attend any of the Galas the rest of his family go to.'

So is this a Lady Gotham thing?
I feel like it has to be a Lady Gotham thing.
I'm kinda getting the impression that the Lady has decided she really likes Danny and wanted to Ghost-Adopt him. And Danny, by how much he liked the city (which she is the spirit of), accidentally accepted the bond without realizing it.
With that being the case, she can't exactly just let him Leave right now, can she? The bond hasn't fully settled yet! Not only would that be unhealthy for the bond itself, but the ripple effects of an unstable bond decaying aren't exactly healthy for the ghost it attaches to either!
Would Danny probably be just fine? Sure! He's certainly a powerful enough ghost, and has plenty of other bonds to support him. She'd still strongly prefer her son not have to go through that discomfort.
What about her, you ask? Oh don't you worry your little head about that. She's been through plenty worse (true) and come out the other side (false, she's very much still in the middle of a TON of curses) no worse for wear (so absurdly false!). She'd be just fine if this bond went sour (the falsest! But she believes it. I cannot stress enough that she's really only worried about Danny. She's unhealthily self-sacrificing like that, it's how she ended up in the state she's in now, whether she can acknowledge that truth or not.).
So what is she to do but keep her son in her home for his own health and comfort. Just until the bond is stable. She'll even do what she can to speed the process along by bringing him to the center of her haunt where her claim is strongest, and where her husband, their adopted child, and many many grandchildren reside. He can help take care of their new son and better explain what's going on, both of which will help the bond stabilize.
Alfred absolutely would do that, if he had any idea what was going on either. Lady Gotham gave him a complete explanation of their marital status, how it happened, why she chose him, everything really, and she did it years ago when the bond formed. It's hardly her fault that he couldn't understand a word of her ghost speak when she came to him in the single strangest and oddly easily recalled dream of his life. Nor is it at all his fault that he accidentally gave the impression that he understood perfectly by the way he's continued to care for her and her family as any good husband would since then, just as she asked of him in that dream as a way to show his devotion to her while he's still alive.
Poor Jazz is gonna have her work cut out for her untangling this shit show.

Danny visits Gotham for work or vacation or school or visiting people or whatever. It goes fine. Nothing bad or weird happens to him.
But then he tries to leave.
An invisible barrier around the city stops him in his tracks, forcing him to phase out of whatever vehicle he was in to avoid being crushed. It affects no one but him and after he discovers it, it starts to shrink until Danny is trapped within Wayne Manor and the surrounding property.
While Batman tries to figure out where the barrier came from, who put it up, and how to free Danny, Bruce must play host to Danny and an increasing number of angry people who were worried about Danny’s well being and refuse to leave until he’s free.
(Bonus: It turns out the barrier will only dispel if Danny is adopted by the Waynes and made part of their family. Danny is not about this. He doesn’t know these people, and he’s not going to let a magical barrier tell him what to do or who his family is! Everyone who came to the manor in solidarity with Danny agrees.
Bruce is also very uncomfortable with the idea of adopting this person who clearly doesn’t want to be adopted. He feels like he’s being forced to be an accessory to kidnapping.)

Theater of the Soul - Chapter 17
He could sense the tension in the air - even the bird boy was a little tense. There were people with white lab coats, and the nice lady doctor, who pricked him with numerous needles. It was only the boy's and the lady doctor's presence that made him reconsider punching them all and run away.
Well, that, and the fact that his legs still hurt a lot. It might not be a good idea to run while he could only hobble. The bird boy walked around a lot, and even if he'd walked slow enough to be caught up on, the too-much-walking still taxed his legs.
The boy would press his body onto his side while they were pricking him with needles, saying soothing things. At least they were in soothing tone, because his brain is too cloudy to know what they were talking about.
He has always had trouble sleeping, that much he remembered. Even under drugs, he would always be on alert - the smallest of noise would wake him up. Maybe it was due to the fact that he had never felt safe - living on the floors of the alleys of the city tend to sharpen one's instinct to the point of semi-paranoia.
This time, thought, he could tell that he was being drugged. But at least, the bird boy was there, holding his hand.
For the first time in his life, he succumbed to the blackness of sleep; knowing he would be safe. The bird boy would guard him, he was sure. Whatever it is they were trying to do by drugging him to sleep, the bird boy would make sure he would not be harmed in any way.
More bad news came from Dinah, just as Jason was about to be wheeled for the surgery. Tim, Barbara, and Dick eventually decided to hold their meeting while Bruce was holding vigil in front of Jason's surgical theater.
Somehow, Bruce had even managed to joke, "this is the worst theater I've been in."
And Tim really wanted to know what he would be thinking if he'd heard that his son was a suspect in a murder. No, that his son was the main suspect in a murder.
"His prints and biologicals were found there - in the house where they had found Napier's body." Barbara said grimly, pointing out to the screen of her laptop that was showing police and Crime Scene reports.
"Okay, counselor, wouldn't that be obvious if he was detained there?" Dick countered. "Were they found on Napier's corpse?"
"They couldn't tell yet. They found the body decomposed, you know. Mummified, actually. I'm... not sure what to think of with the term 'mummified' and how... But I reckon the area he was found at was dry enough to make him mummify instead of fully decompose. They couldn't even determine time of death and put it on a very wide bracket of three months to a year." Barbara replied.
"The bright side is that I found clips that said Napier was alive by the time Danny met Jason three months ago." Tim showed them a clip from an info-tainment channel, showing Napier arguing with somebody out of sight right outside the Harley Club. "Supposedly - if the tabloids were to be believed, he'd left for LA right the next day. I haven't found anything from LA that can corroborate that." he admitted, a little begrudgingly.
"Right, I'll take that one, then. I've a friend who can poke out some alibis. You know him," Dick smirked at Barbara.
Barbara suddenly groaned. "Ugh... ick. Won't it be a little too obvious for you if you call him up and start asking about Napier?"
"He, who?" Tim wanted to know.
"Jason Bard, Private Investigator Extraordinaire," Dick smirked mischievously. "A.K.A. Babs' ex boyfriend."
"Oh," Tim winced. "Yeeeah, I agree. Might be a little too suspicious if you call your girlfriend's ex to investigate something involving your adoptive brother." Tim pointed out. "Other option?"
"There's Ralph Dibny, but if we ask him, he'll definitely report to Bruce." Dick huffed. "He and Bruce are like, BFWBs. Best Friend With Benefit - and said benefit comes in dollar signs."
"Victor Sage." Tim suddenly remembered. "He was an investigative journalist. He was really good and fair - he would expose either side of the suspicions fairly."
"...and place Jason in more stress?" Barbara said softly.
"Won't he be more stressed if he was to be named as a murderer when he couldn't defend himself? Jason is catatonic. He's not an idiot." Tim reminded them. "He's thinking, just not expressing. He'd talked to me once. Bruce had heard it, too."
Both Tim and Barbara landed their gaze on Dick, who was pinching the bridge of his nose tiredly.
"Alright," Dick finally decided. "Victor Sage. No punch pulled. We prepare ourselves for Jason's defense, right?"
Barbara nodded solemnly. "Always. I have Kate Spencer, Rachel Keast, and Jean Loring on speed dial."
"And all-girls squad, Babs?"
"Works for the heart, Dick." Barbara smirked. "If all else fails, go for the heartstrings. Orphaned, homeless, stardom, dumped broken and back on the streets... I'd cry if if were in the jury selection."
They continued chatting, plotting, scheming; interrupted only when Bruce finally came amongst them, looking gaunt and even older than his mid-30s.
"Did it work?" Dick demanded.
"Hm? Oh, the surgery itself was... 'easy', so Pieter said... the drama will begin once he wakes up." Bruce told them, sighing. "Alfred is waiting with him, in case he wakes up and get distressed." He did not imply anything, but Tim could sense Bruce's glare landed on him.
"I'll take over from Alfred once I'm done eating," Tim assured him, pointing to the takeout boxes Barbara has had on the table next to the laptop, didn't even realize that he has been devouring a box of noodles while talking. Dick, ever the mother-hen, had probably placed a box in Tim's hands and he'd started eating out of... well, it had smelled nice.
"He-- I would appreciate that, Tim, thank you." Bruce acknowledged. "Now, you kids maybe can fill me up on what schemes you've been running to prove Jason's innocence on Napier's death."
Dick dropped his fork halfway to his mouth. Tim nearly choked on his fry. Barbara just glared at Bruce.
"How." she demanded. Not asked.
"Diana Prince is a good friend of mine. She'd come here from Themiscyra under my parents' sponsorship." Bruce explained. "She had warned me that the investigation might hit too close to my home, and my son. And told me to prepare the defenses accordingly."
If Dick or Barbara had heard the same thing Tim did, of the words 'just don't tell me how the investigation going' that were not said, they did not show it.
"I'm thinking Kate Spencer, Rachel Keast, or Jean Loring on Jason's behalf." Barbara said. "They'll have to face... whoever's the DA in LA?"
"I think you can include Harvey Dent, too." Bruce said contemplatively. "He's... quite fond of Jason. And his position as a former Gotham City's DA would make him a formidable opponent."
"Whoa... that's heavy." Dick huffed.
"I'll consider Dent, if all else fails." Barbara replied, not detailing what 'else' might include. "The thing is, Dent defends crooks, too, nowadays. So I'm not comfortable with him."
"All lawyers would end up defending crooks at one point or another of their career, Barbara. It's a matter of how many hours they've booked. I'm presuming you'll co-chair with the Manhunter?" Bruce said. "I'd exempt Keats, though. Her link to Diana Prince - being from the same country - might be used against her investigation and us in general. Loring should be your last option - she would defend anyone with money and that could turn against you."
"Co-chair?" Tim echoed. "'Manhunter'?"
"Well yes, you didn't know Babs has a law degree?" Dick smirked at him. "Kate Spencer's nickname is the Manhunter, since she's pretty much vicious and relentless in proving some people's guilt."
"Of course I will. I'm partial to Kate, too, and just keep Keats and Loring as reserve. I might consider taking over Jason's custody temporarily while I'm at it." Barbara remarked.
"What for?" Dick asked, an eyebrow cocked in curiosity. "You're not even old enough to be his mom."
"Just for the simplification. If I have custody, all and any documents will be sent to me instead of Bruce. That way, nobody can imply 'parental ignorance' or neglect." she explained. "Sometimes when they're losing, the prosecutor would delay sending notices on new evidences, to rattle the defendant's defense."
"...so by sending them to Jason's actual legal guardian, Bruce, they would expect said notice to be actually lost." Dick clarified. "That actually kinda makes sense."
"Yes," Barbara nodded sagely. "I, on the other hand, do not let any envelope go past me and accepts my own mail. Their argument therefore will not be valid."
Tim sighed, "legal stuff hurts my head." he admitted at Barbara's glare. "Not like I don't understand them, I just... don't understand the necessity for scheming."
"I second that," Bruce agreed. "But then again, we're all law-abiding citizens here, so what do I know." he added blithely.
Barbara nodded slowly. "Hence you need the despicable breed that is Homo-Legalis to think dirty for you." she said with a smug smirk. "Think Jason would be awake by now?"
"Pieter-- Dr Cross said he should be fully sedated for at least three hours. So yeah, he could be starting to wake up now." Bruce looked at Tim expectantly.
"Pffft... alright. I know when I'm not wanted because the adults want to talk." Tim scowled playfully and dumped his empty noodle box into the bin. Bruce smiled. "I'm gonna keep Jason company, because at least he's still considered a kid. Like me."

If this is the Justice League animated universe, then it would make sense for Danny to be Jason Todd reanimated and for Dan to be Daniel Todd or his human half was/ is This means that Batman is looking at a ghost and two kids. All of whom look like his unilt now assumed to be dead kid. So, while Dan and Dani are dealing with Vortex Batman, it is trying to kidnap Danny. Danny, for his part, doesn't want to go back to being Jason he really doesn't. He's happy as Danny Fenton normal kid/ghost king to be. Let me explain how this happened. When Dan's human hlf was thrown through time, he wasn't just plopped down in gotham and abandoned he was placed in the direct coustody of Willis and Cathrine Todd as a way ofnkeeping him from disrupting this knew time line at ghe same time as Willis is having the fear of god put into him by Clockwork Cathrine is stealing a baby who was born more than two months early after his mother was forced into laber by an attack by the Phantom Gentleman. This baby was born with its umbilical cord wrapped around its throat, so it was easy to change the hospitals records to was pronounced dead shortly after birth. The reason Cathrine did this was that maddie fenton was her half-sister, who everyone thinks is crazy. From here, things mostly progress the same as the animated adventures continue when Jason(danny) was about 8 his parents were killed by Tony Zuko after Willis attempted to rat him out for the Halies circus. Afrerword Daniel would adopt the moniker Red Hood and at least attempt to become a crime lord he fails and dies. As for Jason(Danny), after the incident with the joker and the wharehouse fire, Jason is picked up by social services whi while failing to identify him as Jason Todd do identity his DNA as matching one presumed dead Daniel James Fenton. Jason has amnesia from the fire (he actually did technically die in it, but Lady Gotham brought him back), so only kind of remembers being Jason Todd. Danny is reunited with the fentons who, in their grief, started building the portal as a way to find their son one way or another. From here, his life mimics cannon Danny Fenton he meets Samantha Manson and Tucker Fully, who, in a twist, also were from Gotham , so they quickly become friends inspite of their differences.( as my uncle always said nothing bond humans like trama bonding) he dies in the portal accident, becomes Danny phantom and becomes a super hero like his own hero nightwing/ the first(and only one to Dannys knowledge) Robin. He does get his memories back at the end of his fight with Desiree, so he knows hes Jason Todd what he doesn't realize at first is that he is really is Danny Fenton and that the Cop, officer Dick Grayson and the Social Services agent, Barbra Gordan did not infact make a mistake in returning him to the fentons. Eventually, Dannys parents figure out that Phantom is the ghost of the second Robin, which, if the info, the nice social service lady gave them was true meant he was infact the disembodied soul of there son Danny. This changes their opinion of him as there is no way Danny could ever truly be evil. So the Fentons stop trying to capture Phantom for dissection and start trying to capture him to rebind him to his body because if Danny were to die without a soul, he would be lost forever and that would be worse than having him as a ghost or luminal. Not that they tell Phantom this no its Danny Fenton and Jazz Fenton they explain this all to. Danny responds by telling them what the truth hes phantom a hafa... they love and accept him. Also, Dan and Dani are adopted after the events of a glitch in time. All this Danny(Jason) is screaming at bruce so that he'll leave him alone and stop trying to Kidnap him. He leaves out the part where it was the portal that turned him into a half ghost and implyes that it was Lady Gothams doing. The point is Dannys not going back with him, not in a million years.
Prepare for the unexpected. (DPxDC)
Everyone knew about the reign of Pariah Dark. Even those who did not dabble in those realms have heard the tale of the tyrant. A power-hungry man who ruled over the dead with an iron fist.
Following the rise of Pariah Dark, his realm had been effectively cut off from communication. Many mystics and magic users knew better than to open the door of nightmares that could arise if Pariah Dark's reach went further than his own realm.
Except, the universe had plans to bring the realm of the dead back into the cards.
A new opponent, one that had all of Earth's heroes scrambling for options. A being with powers of a god over weather, destruction was on the horizon. A world ending threat.
It's the only reason the Justice League was doing this. In a deep bunker, far from close civilization as a precaution, the heroes looked on with grim expressions.
The world was already being threatened. It would be destroyed regardless of what the league did. So it only made sense to make the last ditch effort. To summon someone strong enough to defeat the threat.
No one wanted to do it. No one wanted to be the one to pull the realm of the dead back to the living. The consequences were untold if this succeeded. If Pariah Dark was freed and defeated the threat, whose to say he won't want control?
That was a problem for later. For the aftermath. For now, the league could only watch on with bated breath as Constantine completely the summon ritual.
They watched on as the shadows in the room seemed to darken and grow. As the sigil sputtered to life with a glow that was growing increasingly brighter. A sudden gust of wind rushed through the room, the temperature began to drop with eaching ticking second.
And then it was all gone.
The room stood perfectly still. Just as it had been moments before. Nothing changed. No giant king standing before them, no sign that the ritual worked.
The room stood deadly still for another beat before the murmurs started. The team trying to make sense of the situation, figure out what went wrong.
Constantine swore up and down that this was the correct ritual, taking offense that they would even think the problem was on his end. It only made it better when it finally happened.
A loud sound ripped through the room, pulling everyone's attention back to the summoning circle. Just in time to see a tear appear in the space above the circle.
A thin tear that ran the length of eight feet. The fabric of the dimension seems to curl at the edges, pulling back to reveal a deep glowing swirl of greens. A dark gloved hand reached through, fingers curling around the edge of the tear, stretching it even further.
A portal. The ritual had worked, but there had been a delay. A delay that had every hero nerves on edge. Each team member tensed, weapons at the ready as they watched the being stretch the portal to the right size.
Then, a foot stepped out with a heavy thud. A dark boot that looked otherworldly despite its similarity to mortal clothing. A deep black that seemed never-ending. A second foot quickly followed before a full body emerged from the portal.
Not many people in the room have ever seen Pariah Dark, let alone know what to expect. Based on what Constantine and Zatara had said, this wasn't Pariah Dark.
A man had stepped out of the portal, standing at almost seven feet tall, and built like a brick house. One glance at the glowing white hair, deadly red eyes, and shard teeth was enough to know this being was not to be messed with.
But there was no giant show of armor or royal garbs. There is no large crown at the top of his head or jewelry from the infinite realms laced around his neck.
Instead, the man stood before them in combat boots, worn-in ripped jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and a spiked leather jacket. Despite his almost normal clothing choice, the man's jacket seemed to be a never-ending depth of the dark night sky. If one was to look closely enough, the cosmos could almost be made out in the sea of darkness.
None of that would have prepared them for when the man spoke. His tone sounded more bored than anything as he took a step forward.
"Oh, so now you need the help of the dead." The man had spoken, running a hand through his hair. When Batman took a step forward to speak, the man raised a hand. Immediately commanding silence in the single gesture. "I'm on babysitting duty and have yet to have a cup of coffee. I'll be right back."
Just like that, both the man and portal vanished into thin air. Leaving behind a group of stunned heroes. Not only was the man not Pariah Dark, but he was also supposedly babysitting.
"Did that just-"
The Flash had been the first voice to speak up, his eyes trained on where the man had once stood. Except he had barely made it through the first few words before the man was suddenly back.
The man that now had a child hanging off his shoulders and another teen being held up by his scruff. Unlike the man, these kids looked human.
Too human for Bruce's liking. The dark black hair and bright blue eyes had every heroes eyes flickering to Batman for just the briefest moment.
"This isn't fair! I'm not even the king. Why do I have to be here!" The teenager had been complaining the moment the man had reappeared. Arms crossed tight over his chest and seemingly used to being held dangling. "Besides, who brings kids to a show down! Wait til I tell mom about this."
"Aw, come on, Danny. This is gonna be fun!!" The younger girl seemed in much better spirits than the teen, Danny. She had climbed up the large man, sitting on his shoulders and resting her arms on the mess of glowing hair. "It's like take your kids to work day! Ooo, Dan! Can we fight too!?"
Unlike the two kids, the man looked purely exhausted and annoyed. The man, Dan, dropped Danny like a sack of potatoes as he took a long drink from the travel cup in his hand.
It didn't take a genius to recognize the look of an exhausted parent in Dan's expression. A look many of the league members were well acquainted to. A look that even had Batman grimacing with sympathy.
"Can it, little shits. You two were grounded, remember." Dan had growled at the kids before shifting his focus back on the team of heroes before them. His glowing eyes set in a deadly glare. "Pariah Dark isn't coming, and he never will. He's been dethroned and banished. We're the best you've got."
A summoning that started with a group of on edge and scared heroes looking for the ghost king, ended in a way no one expected.
No one was even sure if it made any sense. They weren't sure if they should feel hopeful or in despair.
Because truly, what was a ghostly man with two seemingly human children against a godlike foe with the control over the weather?
The unspoken question of power and ability seemed to vanish following Dan downing the metal travel cup of coffee, and crushing it in his fist.
He tossed it to the side, straighting up his posture as he looked over the heroes. Dan might not be a hero, but he's been playing family for too long.
An almost feral, bloodhungry grin spread across the man's face, sharp fangs on full display. The look made the man suddenly look even less human. He looked closer to a demon from the pits of hell rather than the exhausted parent he looked just a few seconds ago.
"Point me in the direction of this bastard. It's been too long since I let loose and had some fun."

Clockwork: so I heard one of Lady Gotham's knights tried to adopt you by force.
Danny: yeah, was really weird.
Clockwork:... did you know that when you became a Halfa you were actually blood adopted by Tamamo No Mae, making you a Kitsune Hanyo?
Danny: ...WHAT THE FUCK DOES ANY OF THAT MEAN?!
Clockwork: It means that a Divine incarnation of the Sun Goddess Amaterastu, aka, asexually made child, adopted you when you were being ripped apart of the portal, saving you and making you half Kitsune half human with ghost powers. But don't worry too much, Tamamo No Mae was actually a kind individual who was victim to mass misunderstanding and lies.
Danny: ... please explain the incarnation thing a little more?
Clockwork: think of it as a God or higher tiered being splitting a tiny piece of themselves to make a new individual that their will lives through to a small degree, kind of like a clone, Like what Dani is to you, she isn't exactly a true clone of you, but she does come from you.
Tamamo, who's been there the whole time hiding so she can be introduced to her Blood adopted son: I HAVE A GRAND BABY ALREADY?!
DPXDC prompt #31
Everyone knew the rule of No Metas in Gotham, but there's was an unspoken second rule, no blue-eyed and black-haired child in Gotham.
Or you would be abducted by Bruce Wayne. It didn't matter if your parents are alive or not, if you're are mistreated or not, he would get you and never letten go.
What Danny didn't expect was for the youngest Wayne, Damian, track him down and try to abduct him for having fox ears and tail.
The two had met at a museum in Metropolis, each accompanying their classmates through a tour. Damian saw his foxy meta features and got obsessed with him, and somehow discovered his Phantom identity. Even though his foxy side didn't show in his ghost form.

Lady Gotham: "My son, this man has adopted your older-younger brother Jason. He will offer you safety. You can trust him."
Jason, who canonically had an older brother called Danny who died: *freaking out*
Gotham: *sees Jason as her second child that she shares with Batman, as she raised him from death* *yes, this makes logical sense.*
Danny: *takes one look at Jason and understands what his mum meant* *yup, that makes sense* "You really need to eat healthier. Swamp ecto may fill you up, but it's really not that nutritious."
Jazz: *new brother to protect!* *pulls out her last ecto-contaminated food from home* "Here, eat this. It's ecto rich and full of healthy human nutrients too"
Jason: *freaking out even more*

A what if…
If Danny was originally a ghost child, born from one of the seven ancients that sealed Pariah Dark. In an unfortunate accident, he was caught by the Fentons and experimented on. In a twist of strange fate, he was turned human, and basically given life. Because he was no longer a ghost, they decided to adopt him.
Danny had no memory of his earliest years, or the experiments done on him but Jazz does and she quietly took better care of her brother than their parents did of either of them. At fourteen, he still dies and becomes a half ghost, partially because of his heritage kicking in. He still defeats Pariah Dark and becomes the Ghost King and the only one that knows his original identity is Clockwork who didn’t figure it out himself until Danny became a halfa. His human self being untraceable for them.
Danny is sixteen when he tells his parents about himself, oddly enough against Jazz’s advice. They didn’t take it well and were ready to put him back on the table to experiment on him a second time to ‘fix him’ again.
It was Jazz that ended up sabotaging everything and grabbing her brother to run. She’d been packed and ready to go, expecting Jack and Maddie’s overreaction. Jazz finally tells him about the hazy memories she can recall about his arrival. Being only two years older than him, she was just a child but she remembered enough on top of their neglected childhood to decide to bail with him.
Clockwork was the one to give them their destination. Head to Gotham, where Danny could meet his mother, Lady Gotham, who is eagerly awaiting and preparing for his arrival. ~ ~ Batman did not like being summoned for meetings, he especially didn’t like being summoned for a meeting in his own batcave. That was his own space being infringed upon and he didn’t like it one bit. Meetings were for mutual areas unless it was called by one of his own children. Even then, those meetings were usually at the dinner table.
Constantine contacting him to have an ‘urgent chat’ was the last thing he wanted. Constantine usually avoided work when he could, and anything he would bring to the table meant trouble was on its way.
He’d had enough apocalyptic chaos for one month. It was only worse that Constantine insisted they meet tonight instead of the League meeting at the end of the week. Things that couldn’t wait meant more work for him.
Batman’s eyes narrowed at the sound of footsteps moving through the west side of the batcave. Even knowing it was coming, he was unhappy knowing that Constantine used the private door that only a few knew about to get inside.
“You’re early. That’s unheard of.” Batman commented, smelling the smoke of the man’s cigarette before even turning around. “Put that out.”
“Don’t think i will.” Constantine said, a hint of stress in his voice. “I dunno what you did but i don’t appreciate being dragged into it.”
“What i did?” Batman frowned, turning away from his computer to stand. “What’s that supposed to mean? You’re the one that wanted to talk.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Constantine said, inhaling. His free hand held another cigarette that he likely planned to light when the first was gone. “Someone wants to speak to you. You’re going to speak to them.”
“Tch.” Batman crossed his arms. It wasn’t a wonder to him why his children were so stubborn. He could see himself in many of their habits. “Am i?”
Constantine shrugged. “Yeah, i think you are. They’re your bloody benefactor so i really don’t think you got a choice. I’m just a middle man.”
“Benefactor?” Batman scowled, a list of possible names running through his mind but nothing held. Something that required Constantine’s presence was even more baffling. “What are you talking about?”
The atmosphere in the cave suddenly changed. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but given the way Constantine tensed, they both felt it. It was like a wave of something spread out through the room, brushing against both of them and moving out to fill the rest of the corner.
“John, who did you invite here?”
“Oh, i don’t think i could do something like that. Way above my pay grade.” Constantine muttered, turning to face the same direction he’d just come from. There was no noise, no footsteps, nothing to indicate an intruder other than the feeling filling every inch of the batcave. “May i present to you, the spirit of Gotham herself. Lady Gotham.”
For a long few seconds nothing happened. It wasn’t an overly timely introduction but a woman did appear. She moved fluidly, silently, disappearing and reappearing between every step. She looked to be made of stone, everything from the visible skin of her legs and bare feet, to her cloak. She could have been a fixture somewhere in the city, a beautiful gargoyle but she moved with complete ease.
The hood of her cloak was drawn low, a veil covering her face. Even making her way through the moderately lit cave, she was nearly shrouded in shadows still. The most visible feature she had were bright, toxic green eyes that almost seemed to swirl.
Sharp horns protruded through her hood that wrapped behind her head and at her elbows were a small set of stone wings that must have been useless but she gave no indication one way or the other. Not even when they seemed to flutter.
“Lady Gotham?” Batman blinked, trying to absorb what he was seeing. To commit everything to memory. Her appearance should have given away so much but instead he got nothing.
“Yes. She is who this city was named for. She is this city’s soul. Powerful, old, and the beginning of… well a lot.” Constantine muttered. “She apparently likes your ragtag team of bats and birds too.”
“Protectors…” She spoke, her voice was like a whisper, but there was an edge to it that made it seem like her speaking at a normal volume would be a very bad thing. “Protectors are always welcome here.”
Batman stared and didn’t know right off what he was supposed to say. He didn’t feel like he was in danger, but he had no idea what a supposed spirit would want with him. He’d been playing his role as batman for years without a trace of this Lady Gotham before.
Constantine cleared his throat. “Well since that introduction was made, i’ll see myself ou-”
“Stay.” she said, stopping only a few few away from them. She still blinked in and out of existence. Sometimes pieces of her would be visible while the rest of her faded in and out.
“Yes…” Constantine reluctantly muttered.
Batman straightened. “Never heard of you.” Constantine nearly groaned. “But i can’t refute what’s right before me. What can i help you with?”
She tilted her head, and the motion should have been impossible if she were actually made of stone. He got the impression that she was amused despite not really being able to see her face.
“Protector. Knight. Hero. Father. You have assumed so many mantles.” Gotham spoke softly. “There is only so much i can do, i do interfere when i can.”
He nodded though he had no idea what she was talking about. He’d always pulled his own weight but if there was an otherworldly entity assisting him, would he know?
“I come to you, to ask for a favor. You, with the means to grant such a thing.”
“What sort of favor?”
“A halfa has been directed to my core with his human sister. They require living arrangements.” She spoke firmly. “I can offer them my love, my welcome, my embrace, even a taste of my power but monetary needs and documents are out of my hands.”
“A halfa?” Batman frowned, not understanding the phrase other than them not being human if their sister being human was clarified.
“Nooo…” Constantine stared, looking like he’d prefer it if the floor just opened up and swallowed him. “Not the halfa that defeated Pariah Dark…”
“The very same.” Gotham clasped her hands in front of her, form flickering again. She radiated pride.
“The halfa that defeated Pariah Dark and became the Ghost King?” Constantine obviously wanted to get the hell out of Gotham.
“The same.” She repeated.
“Ghost King?” Batman frowned. “Why is he coming here?”
She disappeared, reappearing several feet to her left. “He is in need of a home. He is only sixteen human years old.”
“He’s a child?!” Constantine looked horrified. “And he became the Ghost King!?”
“Yes.” She said, somewhat patient. “My son is welcome here, so you will welcome him.”
Constantine was lighting that second cigarette. “Son… I gotta…I gotta sit down.”
Batman however was trying to ignore what he couldn’t grasp at the moment, and focus on what he could. “Documentation and lodgings for two minors is well within my means to provide.” He glanced back at Constantine who was walking away to grab a chair. “You’ll explain the Ghost King thing later.”
Constantine just waved him off as he collapsed into a chair.
Lady Gotham had moved, now standing directly in front of Batman without having moved a muscle. “My son and his human sister know what it means to be hunted. My child’s core screams for help and receives so little.” She suddenly seemed to tower over batman in a way she didn’t before. “He will receive assistance here.”
Batman stood firm, but it would be a lie to say he was completely unaffected. Despite that trickle of fear in his chest, he’d always done his best to be there for his kids. It didn’t mean he was successful, but he tried. What was two more? “I understand. Whatever he’s running from will be handled. When will he arrive?”
Lady Gotham paused. “Soon. Travel is slow, but steady. Another day.”
Batman hummed, that was plenty of time to get everything set up temporarily. He would talk to the Ghost King and his sister to discuss more permanent plans. His attitude however, seemed to be just what Lady Gotham expected.
She turned to Constantine. “You will find him easiest. Bring them here.”
Constantine heaved a sigh and pulled out a flask from his jacket pocket. He didn’t barter, try to make some kind of deal, or attempt to gain some form of payment. Lady Gotham was a force of nature all on her own but there was no way he was pissing off the mother of the Ghost King. That was asking for trouble even if the kid was a king. His power must have been something else… “Got it.” he agreed.
She sighed, the sound content. “Thank you, Knight. My son will be in good hands.” Or Else, didn’t need to be spoken.
She turned, and just like that she was gone, her powerful aura along with her. In a flash it was like she’d never been there at all.
Batman took a moment to just breathe and regain his bearings before turning back to Constantine. “What did i just agree to?”
“Not much.” Constantine said dryly. “Just being the foster dad to the Ghost King. King of the Infinite Realm.”
Well… It wasn’t the first time he’d adopted a teenager. Batman just reaffirmed his plans for the rest of the day and turned to change back into his civilian attire and head back up into his mansion. He needed to talk to Alfred immediately.
“Better you than me…” Constantine grumbled. This was going to be pure chaos, but he also had to wonder…what it was that spooked the kid that defeated Pariah Dark? That was something to look into.
Neither man had noticed when Tim had walked in, having watched most of that interaction from a safe distance away. “What the absolute fuck was that….?”
~~ ~~
I would really kind of enjoy a 16 year old Danny meeting and bonding with a 19 year old Jason… Also… Constantine texting Bruce the very moment he lays eyes on Danny. Yep! This kid is totally Wayne material. He’ll mix in with the others seamlessly.
No plans to continue this at this point if someone else wants a turn.

I love this and would like to see more.
Allow me to add some odds and ends.
The Adoption Gene.
When Darkseid pimpslapped Bruce through time, he basically rubber banded through the time stream, first to Ancient History, then back to his own "initial" time.
As he approached the moment of his birth however, his temporal signature had begun to stabilise as he continued to bleed off energy from Darkseid's attack.
Unfortunately this meant that he had begun to regress in age to match what the time stream said he should be.
The same week that Martha and Thomas took their son Bruce Thomas Wayne home, a gentle shove from Clockwork guided the, later adopted Daniel Janus Fenton, into the A&E of the Amity Park hospital, wrapped in a black cape.
A cape that Tim Drake would decades later track, using the unique radiological signature of the armour weave.
But it's not just Bruce he finds, and he's so very, very glad the whole of Wayne Manor and the Batcave is recorded in crystal clear audio and visual. Because after all the adoption problem IS genetic.
Now?
Dick is no longer the oldest child. Damian is no longer the only, nor even the eldest blood child. Tim was already looking forward to the satisfaction of "I was right.", and the ensuing blackmail to leverage over his siblings for years, a paltry consolation prize after being fired from Robin by Dick, his Big Brother, and having it given to his murderous little brother.
Karma thy name is Elleanor Nightingale-Wayne.
*
Everything goes as per Danny Phantom canon except for a few minor and major changes. (Keep the asteroid but no public reveal, because Bruce can hold it over Clark's head forever). Dealer's choice of how the Fenton parents are. I was thinking that a reveal went poorly, Danny and Jazz cut them out of their lives and they later died, ghost fight they were outclassed in, lab accident, who knows. The other option was the burger incident occurs but Jazz returns as a ghost so Danny and Elle move to Phantoms Keep.
So Danny is non existant on Earth from 18(16?idk) onwards to his (late 30's? idk how old Bruce is at this point, you guys choose) and mostly focused on fixing the absolute impending Apocalypse, capital A, tyre fire that was the Infinite Realms, raising his daughter and taking her and her Aunty Jazz on vacation.
Danny Fenton died in that portal and Phantom walked out. (6 years to the day Bruce Wayne died in alley next to his parents, and Batman walked out.)
Danny with encouragement from (ghost?) Jazz decides to return to the Human world and his original life of Bruce Wayne after consulting with Clockwork.
Bruce doesn't use his powers and everything continues uninterrupted, until Darkseid hears.
*
The Batman yet lived, such a sleight against his prowess could not be borne. The invasion of Earth was once again underway. For the first time, Darkseid would be attacking Gotham directly. Previously he had respected the Dark Knight's will, strategy and skill, but dismissed him as a true threat in open combat. But such a sleight could not be borne. Batman would die.
*
And then everyone gets treated to Eldritch Batman. Hal Jordan is regretting mocking Batman for not having powers. Especially because he recognises that ring. The Horsehead Nebula is nice this time of year, perhaps Barry would like a ticket off Earth as well?
The possibility for Martha Wayne being the guiding intelligence of a matured Lady Gotham city spirit due to the reverence people treated their deaths affecting the cities subconscious would be excellent for some Danny reintegrating himself as Bruce.
He can have a loving mother and not a mad scientist.
As a treat.
DP x DC prompt #80
When Bruce Wayne gets lost in time, he doesn't end up at the dawn of history. No, he winds up in another timeline, turned into a baby with two parents in hazmat suits, an older sister with long red hair, surrounded by ghost tech, and with no memory of his life as Bruce Wayne or Batman.

I mean I sorta have a crackish Bruce variant of this but it involves Redeemed!Vlad having a panic attack.
So, in the Realms, pregnancy isn't really a thing in the mortal way, but anyone with a core can incubate a Baby Core, the better the match the better things turn out.
Now, Vlad is with Danny at a Gala, sometime after the explosion, and the Joker attacks. Or someone else, doesn't really matter. Anyway, Danny's living form just Does Not Live and Vlad is stressing not only over his technical re-death but also because half his instincts are telling him to put Baby Core next to his own core but the other half is telling him to find an Ice Parent because he's the Opposite of Ice and that can't be good for an Ice Baby right? But also where is he going to find an Ice Core Adult in such short notice? (I don't think Freeze is liminal enough to have a Core but he could be an interesting guess I suppose). It's made worse by the fact he's having this panic attack over his son Danny in the middle of a semi-public gala that just got attacked and it's a... mess.
Now, take the idea that Bruce is a cored liminal, or even a halfa of some kind, even if only though Claim and not actual Death or something (IE adopted by a strong enough ghost that it effected him, not that he realizes). In my variant of this offers, it's because of my Thomas=Pariah HC thing (that's why his core is shadows, he takes after his dad).
The route here is that, while his kids run off to do damage control, Bruce tries to handle civilian stuff and, once the rogue won't attack him for moving around too much, comes over to check on the situation, and it's by that point that Vlad, attempting to keep Danny in his usual half-alive state, starts to give up, and the body starts to sorta dissolve into ectoplasm.
So be Vlad, having a panic attack over your son ward, and freaking out because your cores are incompatible so you can't incubate him, and then this guy absolutely wreathed in a shadowy aura, a matching core, and, well, shadows are cold right? You ignore the fact his energy feels like that crazy ghost you let out when you were a bit more of a Frootloop.
Be Bruce, trying to come over and gauge the situation while trying to call for an ambulance. Watch the kid dissolve into what looks like Lazarus Water, causing his guardian to freak out and have a panic attack. And then the moment you get close enough and the guy's eyes land on you... he shoves an extremely cold orb into your chest because he's running on stressed autopilot and you're pretty sure that orb was where the kid was - is that the kid? - and then something inside of you just... purrs?
Turns out the Batfam, 90% of the communication issues is that most of them are liminal or more and since there's not enough there for their conscious self to latch onto they're basically sending out signals and none of their frequencies match.
Be Vlad, now extremely clingy and refusing to leave Bruce alone (may or may not end in ship, writer's discretion), and be Bruce, extremely confused about what happened (but now subconsciously able to alter his frequency and understand what his kids have been trying to 'say').
Essentially, give Vlad hell, and make Bruce even more Mom Coded and also Batman more Cryptid because now his Core is kinda walking up. Also, Bruce is now racing against the clock to figure out what the hell species this guy and the kid are and what species him and his kids also seem to be if his observations are accurate.
Also, Clockwork is gonna literally be Danny's grandpa now if running with that HC thing about Pariah, since in that Clockwork took on a mortal form and called it Alfred, and Martha Wayne became Lady Gotham by being sent to the past after her death.

Bruce is like a really close Family Friend, like Gordon is for the Batfam. He is acquainted with the Robin Family, and often acts like a paternal figure to them when they are on patrol.
Dick became Robin a year later than normal, and kept through it even when Batman tried to get him to stop. He managed to actually hide his Identity from his for many years, by virtue of luck and nothing else. (And maybe some Ghostly intervention on Lady Gotham's part)
Barabara figured Dick out and asked to join in, eventually becoming the Guy in the Chair for Batman and Robin. She never gets shot because Joker is paraplegic.
Jason also becomes Robin after Dick moves to Bludhaven, and Bruce is even more confused because "why is Robin a kid again?" Until he gets an explanation. Jason still gets contacted by his Mom and goes to meet her, and does nearly die, but Danny is just fast enough to save him. Mostly. He is mortally wounded and Danny has to make a Deal with the "League of Shadows" to heal him. They are a known group in the Ghost Zone, and their Ectoplasm Pits are stronger than normal Ectoplasm.
Jason is brought back, and as per their deal he is trained by the League to protect the Demon's Heir. He still visits home, though he isn't allowed to bring the kid with him.
Tim's situation is kind of funny. He discovered that Dick was Nightwing, which led him to thinking that Danny is Batman. Which is entirely wrong, but he was convinced about it. He eventually tried to confront Batman on it, accusing him of being Danny Nightingale, and was met with a blank stare. This led to Bruce finally meeting Danny and his kids, and led to Tim getting to become Robin after proving himself. Tim was adopted, and Bruce became a Family Friend, often visiting to Check up on them and helping with Rent when needed. Tim gets adopted by Danny as well, (Bruce said he wasn't the type to adopt, funnily enough).
Steph came later, became Robin during a stint where Tim was benched, and almost got killed by Black Mask. Thankfully again, Danny managed to save her life with the help of Lady Gotham and she was saved.
Cass came during No Man's Land, when Danny was maintaining his own Territory. He was allied with Barbara's group, and when the while event was over she sent Cass in Danny's direction (since she couldn't adopt her, she was too busy and couldn't afford it)
Duke never got orphaned, instead when he developed his Meta Powers, he joined up with that one group of kids pretending to be Robin's because he felt like he should use his powers to help. Eventually he was brought into the team properly and Danny met his Family. He and Dukes parents have Brunch ever weekend.
Damian is the only one who isn't adopted by Danny, since he is stillnon his whole Blood Son thing. After the League of Shadows is thrown into Civil War, he and Jason escape to Gotham. Jason brings him to Danny, who takes care of him until they figure out that his dad is Batman. Then they break the news to him and Bruce asks for Danny's help in raising Damian (since he has never had kids and Danny has had way too many)
Short DPXDC Prompts #483
Danny runs away to the circus to work as a roadie (Helps set up and put away tents & stuff). Specifically Haley’s Circus. Danny watches from the sidelines in horror as he watches a Young Dick Grayson see his parents fall to their death.

Going to Gotham University was a mistake.
It was all Jazz's fault, really. She wanted to study psychology in a city you never hear good things about. Sam and Tucker could hold their own, but Jazz wasn't a fighter.
At least the aerospace programs were decent, and volunteering at the local animal shelter was a nice way to take his mind off things. He liked dogs. Cats were great too, but the lady who volunteered to play with the cats was an advanced version of a crazy cat lady, and he decided he wasn't going to deal with that because that was Not His Problem.
But then this new guy came in.
He had black hair and blue eyes. His face was similar to Danny's but was, in Danny's opinion, slightly more masculine.
"Danny! This is our new volunteer! Say hi!" said crazy cat lady.
"Hey," said Danny, disobeying her directly. "I'm usually the one who walks the dogs."
The new guy narrowed his eyes at him. Oh shit, had he done something wrong? But he quickly put on a friendly smile and stuck out his hand.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Tim Wayne."
Danny shook his hand. "You too. I'm Danny Fenton."
Tim stopped shaking his hand. "You know, we look really similar. Almost like twins."
Danny shrugged. "They say everyone has a double somewhere." He wasn't worried that Tim was a clone. After all, his only stable clone was a girl and he already knew Tim had a established life history.
Since he knew from experience that billionaires were most likely to be the most immoral people out there, he had done some research on Bruce Wayne, who should by this logic be the most immoral person in Gotham. What he found was that Bruce was an idiot who loved to give to charity (and had paid for his college tuition) and had a habit of adopting kids that looked related to him but weren't. Tim being a prime example.
He also wasn't worried about being secretly adopted. Vlad after all, had recently made plenty of failed clones of him while "trying to remove Jack's influence on his genome." The fruitloop.
Tim nodded thoughtfully. Well, I bet we'll get to know each other quite well."
------------------------------------
Tim was not subtle.
He was trying to be. He went out on dog walks with Danny. He spent time with the crazy cat lady. (Apparently they knew each other?) He was friendly and affectionate, always pulling Danny into a side-shoulder hug when he got excited. The problem was that "affection" had the obvious end goal of trying to take some of Danny's hair.
The problem was half-ghosts don't shed skin or hair exactly the way humans do. First, all the ectoplasm has to be extracted before anything it allowed to flake or fall off to reduce waste. In a city like Gotham where the atmospheric ectoplasm is practically nonexistent, this is doubly true. So there were no loose hairs from Danny in the volunteer center, and it took a lot more force to remove a hair, which gave Danny the time to slap the offending hands away when they started pulling. Once he began anticipating it, he would untangle himself from Tim's grip before he got a grip on his hair.
And what the son of a billionaire wanted with some of his hair, Danny had no idea. As a keepsake that'd be weird enough, but with Danny's luck Bruce Wayne was just as into cloning as Vlad. Maybe Vlad mentioned needing samples of Danny's DNA and sent Tim to do the dirty work.
Either way he couldn't volunteer at the shelter anymore, or be around Tim lest he ends up getting his hands on some of Danny's DNA.
Crazy cat lady was sad to see him go, and Tim was sad too, and asked if he wanted to go somewhere with him, like get a coffee. As much as it pained Danny to turn down a coffee, he did it anyway.
Tim was now resorting to stalking him. Great. It was easy to lose him. He just had to enter a building, go to a bathroom stall, turn invisible, and then continue to his destination.
One time, he decided to follow Tim around. It was really boring at first because Tim was just waiting for Danny to come out of a bathroom he was already out of. Once Tim checked the bathroom and couldn't figure out how Danny had somehow escaped him, he went to more interesting places.
That was how Danny found out that Tim was a vigilante. Which meant he had much better things to do than stalk Danny.
A few days after that, he found Jazz and Tim in the common room of their shared apartment. Tim was in the reclining chair while Jazz sat on the couch with a notepad. Okay, that's weird.
"Uh, Jazz, what is this?"
"Hey Danny! Excuse us, we were just having an impromptu therapy session," said Jazz smiling, "you've probably met Tim. He really wanted to talk to you. That's why I found him climbing though your bedroom window. Isn't that right Tim?"
Tim, for his part, looked like he wanted to turn invisible. Well too bad, ghost powers are Danny's thing.
Danny smirked. "Well, what did you want to tell me?"
"I'm... sorry for climbing through your window."
"And stalking me."
"And stalking you. I was doing it because..." he facepalmed. "This is going to sound really stupid." Tim looked to Jazz for help.
"It's okay just say what you told me," said Jazz.
"I wanted a sample of your DNA to make sure you aren't a clone of me. My friends have had... let's say experiences related to cloning experiments. When I noticed how similar we looked, I just wanted to be certain. But with your sister right here it seems kind of silly now looking back."
It sounded like Tim either had been cloned or knew someone who had. In another timeline, maybe they could've bonded over their shared experience of being cloned. Maybe Danny would introduce him to his clone, Elle, and they would all be friends.
However, in this timeline, Danny's patience and goodwill was worn too thin by Tim's antics. Breaking into the apartment he shared with Jazz was a step too far. This had to stop.
"Are you trans?" asked Danny.
"Uh, no?"
"Well then I can't be your clone because I am!"
"Wait, but you feeling like a woman wouldn't—" Jazz glared at him, and Tim shut up.
Ugggggghhhhhhh," groaned Danny. "I'm not a trans woman. I'm a trans man! I have two X chromosomes. My parents were very supportive and helped me change my legal sex from female to male! Therefore I can not be your clone. So can you stop stalking me now?!"
"Oh." Tim at least had the courtesy to look embarrassed. Judging by his status as a billionaire's kid, this was probably the first time he hadn't simply gotten away with something in a long time. He nodded. "Yes. I'm sorry. I can stop doing that. I won't do it again."
Jazz nodded. "And even if it wasn't clearly biologically impossible for Danny to be your clone, you should understand that that does not give you the right to invade his privacy by analyzing his DNA."
Tim nodded. "Yeah, I got that." Danny got the feeling he had already talked about that with Jazz at length.
Then Jazz turned to her brother. "Danny, can you give us some privacy? I'd like to continue Tim's therapy session." Jazz was smiling as she spoke. Oh, she was enjoying this, and who was Danny to get in the way of that?
Tim gave Danny a pleading look, trapped here by social convention and from breaking and entering, and Danny grinned. "Okay. You have fun with your therapy!" Danny closed the door to his room and left Tim at Jazz's mercy. Maybe he should go to another college. Jazz clearly could handle things herself.
