Not entirely aware of the motion, his thumb slipped over the back of her hand when she took his. The motion was more instinct than anything since his gaze was still narrowed in on the men they were following. He wasn't even really sure why they were following them, all he knew was that Kisa had asked him for help and so here he was. Tracking them with ease through the busy market even as he tried to blend in and not look like....well himself. It was harder than it had sounded.

Tightening his grip on her hand when the others began moving quickly, he pulled her through the crowd, body on edge. It would take them hours to find them again if they lost them and that was if they found them again.

Rounding the corner into the alleyway he almost swore, realizing that they'd slowed, as if sensing they were being tailed. The word almost fell from his lips, but instead morphed into a muffled. "Umph." His body shifted suddenly as he was pulled into her, her lips claiming his even as she dragged him back. Barely catching himself on the wall, a palm and forearm bracing against the stone to keep himself from crushing her, he couldn't fully slow the momentum.

It took only seconds for his mind to catch up with what she'd done, the palm bracing himself falling down to wrap around her waist as he pressed forward, looking for all the world like a man starved of the woman before him and unable to hold back anymore. Nipping at her lower lip as he sensed gazes still upon them, before letting out a soft growl, not even fully sure if the sound was real or not at this point. Though the sound was rewarded by a chuckle and footsteps picking back up.

His lips lingered against hers for a breath more before he pulled back just enough that he could slide his gaze down the alleyway. Watching their retreating backs for a moment before returning his gaze to Kisa and....realization of just how close they were slammed into him seconds later. His gaze flicked down to her lips and then back to her eyes as he tried to think of anything to say, mind still reeling slightly from the sudden kiss. Still close enough that he can feel her lips form the words she breaths upon his own.

       he still held the view that she had been lucky. at least after she assured him that she would not die of the poison. of course, he knew she was immortal, even if it was a different kind of immortality from his. nevertheless, he was aware that there was always a loophole, something that could harm any immortal. she could have been shredded or have her head torn off by these hybrids that did surprisingly still roam around. he did not know if she would have survived such things, because of course, it was irreverent to ask such questions about the limits of her immortality.

      one hand had gently wrapped around the wrist of her wounded arm to prevent her wound from accidentally hitting something and resulting in causing even more pain, and to discreetly feel her pulse. just because she wouldn’t die from it doesn't mean he is not still worried. he knew from his own experience what such a bite did, even though he had been 'blessed' with the bite of the original hybrid. the other hand brushed over her back gently in an attempt to calm her.

      "i won't leave you alone," he assured her and returned her gaze in the hopes that she could see that he was determined – he certainly could see the fright in hers.

      "we need to cool you down, it helps with the fever. A lot of the hallucinations come from the fever, even if a part probably comes from the poisoning." but maybe you could mitigate it by keeping the fever at bay.

      "i could ... i could try to ease the hallucinations." it was a quiet suggestion, followed by a frown on his features because he has skills that exceed the skills of a vampire, even the ones of his siblings. he is, however, not sure if it works on her species and he is also aware that it could be seen as a violation if done without consent.

"Oh, well we wouldn't want that now, would we luv?" His lips fall into his characteristic smirk over the rim of his glass, mischievous blue eyes cutting in the other's direction. Kisa is different. She's not a member of his family, nor is she one of Marcel's people, easily cowed by a measly threat. She's a challenge, and that has always intrigued him.

"I'm afraid that I am going to have to ask you to repeat yourself though," he shrugs only a tiny bit apologetic. "You see, when you barge into my home unannounced, I generally am not too focused on what you are saying." He moves away from the balcony and further into the room, setting down his glass so he could pour one for Kisa. He picks up the crystal filled with amber liquor and holds it out for her to take, as a peace offering. "Why don't we start over?"

"I could," his tone is neutral but he can feel the reflex to defend. " It's just that the methods available to me are ... less subtle."

Katherine's brow rose as the older creature spoke. For some reason she had been expecting older. Katherine was only half her age that wasn't that impressive an age gap in immortal standards.

"Really? You carry yourself like you've been around longer. Or maybe the thousand year old vampires I know are just immature."

       the taste of blood was still evident whenever she swallowed and her head pounded as if it were about to burst.

       being human sucks and no one can convince her otherwise.

       katherine, admittedly, was surprised upon discovering kisa's appearance and by the fact she even offered her help, which she had not expected at all.

       "yes i do", katherine responded, her voice raspy because her throat was so dry. she still didn't expect her to help, and even more so she didn't know if she could trust her. being human had made her even more paranoid, as the people she met and who knew her were just predators waiting for their next meal. a meal that would be named katherine pierce. oh, she could see how some would gloat upon discovering her misery.

interesting... not sure how to quite answer this. honestly? i think it's how people get caught up in drama and frequently forget that most people here just want to write some fun stuff and move on with their lives. i'm not interested in the bullshit & if someone doesn't like me or someone else, that's perfectly fine. i'm of the opinion that we are all adults -- we all have jobs, people that we don't mesh well with, people that we do enjoy the company of. we know how to behave irl. i think this attitude should extend online. people need to mind their business and unfortunately sometimes don't. that's my hot take

He breathes softly, thoughtfully, fingers tapping on the table. "I don't believe in fate," he said softly. He may be a religious person, but there's a difference, he feels, between believing in God working in mysterious ways and believing that he has no choice in the things that happen, that it's all been preordained. "Hope is biting." The statement falls from Hayley's mouth without preamble as she walks into the room with a flourish. Okay, maybe flourish is a bit of an overstatement - more like disheveled and petulant.

"I've been told it's my fault that our littlest wolf is taking bites out of people when in reality we both know whose fault it really is." She adds in a breath before plopping down in a chair across from Kisa, the aformention biter in her arms, grin on the toddlers face as if she doesn't have a care in the world.

"Not really." Glancing around them at the sinking ship he looked back down to the female they'd found imprisoned in the hull of the ship. Honestly how this shit kept happening to them was beyond him. It was like Luffy was a magnet for either trouble or finding people in need. Though he wasn't going to complain about freeing someone from what was clearly a bad situation.

Honestly, when they'd spotted her through the shattered deck he'd known that they'd gone easy. It was scenes like this that were the reason he'd started hunting in the first place after all. Luffy was an...exception to the rule. Most pirates were lawless and had lost sight of their morals long ago.

Having dropped down into the hull he easily shattered the chains holding her in place with his sword before glancing up at the hole and spotting Sanji. He'd immediately dropped into a crouch, weaving his fingers together for her to step in, and now remained waiting. "It's either I throw you up or we drown."

the crew had moored their ship in a cove a little ways down from the main harbor, unsure of how this town would take to pirates and not wanting to put the ship unnecessarily in harms way. coming across this island was perfect timing as they maybe only had a day or two more of supplies. not that they couldn't catch some food to eat out at sea but that alone was not enough for a chef. he required seasoning, vegetables, and sides in order to make meals to the liking of nami and robin. nothing was too good for his ladies.

the town's market was bustling with people shopping or going about their daily lives. with no bounty on his head, it was easy for him to blend in and get what he needed without being chased down by bounty hunters, other pirates, or even marines. most of the time his shopping went on without incident, but occasionally there was something that happened that threw a wrench in his plans. his head snapped in the direction of a beautiful woman getting punished by a pirate. a second later that same pirate was being kicked straight into a wall, placing himself protectively in the middle. "didn't anyone tell you that is no way to treat a lady?" || @ladicsa

He hated the feeling that she was too far from his reach but he found himself clinging to this moment here as though it were the only one that existed. His fingers trailed down the length of her spine, toying with the ends of her hair. The room was quiet, his eyes slid shut. His body was tired but his mind was working chaotically. "I didn't want you to think differently about this…us." He smirked a little and gave a small shake of his head. "Me even."
