Good day everyone! It's time to reflect in Empowerment Technology subject as well as self reflection. As we all know, learning in the new normal is a challenge for the teachers, students and even parents. I know from the start that it will never be easy. A lot of challeges that I may encounter, not just in this subject but also in adjusting in this what we called New normal education.
In this second semester, Empowerment Technology, I can say that I really learned a lot. All of my prior knowledge was widened and expanded in so many different ways. I didn’t expect that I will really learn a lot. Not just learning, but at the same time i am having fun. Since day one, I always have learning a lot of things about technology. The best thing is our teacher Mrs. Linda Lacbay, she was not just focus on giving some activities or explaining the concept of the lesson, she teach us hands on what I mean is we are not just learning through text or some activities like learning task or something, she make us do the real thing, because what her point is to learn her students to apply it in real life or learn how it done.
At first I am so confused. You need to analyze and understand it very well. But when you listen carefully to your teacher while she is speaking in front of the class you will easily understand and cope up with the lessons.
I mistakenly assumed that ICT stood for Information and Computer Technology, but our teacher informed us that ICT deals with various communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephones, and the internet, and it is used to locate, save, send, and edit information. I discovered that WWW stands for World Wide Web, a system on the internet that allows documents to be linked to other documents. A website is hypertext documents that is connected to the internet.
I also discovered that there are two types of websites: dynamic and static. Dynamic can operate more effectively and easily update and connect, and it can create websites such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Google, and other social medias. The static, also known as a flat page, cannot be manipulated by the other user.
I was also aware of the four types of web 2.0: folksonomy, rich user interface, user participation, and longtail. There are various types of social media, including social networking, bookmarking sites, social news, media sharing, microblogging, and blogs and forums.
In this new normal education, it makes me a whole different person. A lot of things change in myself. I've experienced pains, anxiety, doubts, and I guess depression also but I've overcomed it all with help of my family and friends.I have realized many things that I've never thought before. And those experiences thought me a lot of lessons that made me a different a person.
As we all know technology is very helpful in todays society especially in this Covid-19 pandemic but also because of this we are slowly in our own destruction. Always remember this, “Think before you click” because this is the key to our success.
This new way of learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic may be an added challenge during this difficult time. And, since returning to the "normal" we've all become accustomed to isn't going to happen anytime soon, let's all do our best to adjust and make this current situation work. Remember that the goal of online learning is to keep students academically engaged in order for them to retain what they learned.
My journey in Empowerment Technology is similar to a train; I'm not sure what kind of rail I'll encounter along the way. Even though there have been many ups and downs, I have overcome the challenges and hardships associated with this subject. It provided me with a wealth of new insights and perspectives. Everything I've learned will never be forgotten and will live on in my mind and heart for the rest of my life. And without a doubt, this is the best and worst subject for me.

ABM 12 - DIAMOND
Studying empowerment technologies in Senior High School taught me a lot. It provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that I needed to succeed in environments that required the use of a computer and the Internet. Ma'am Linda Lacbay, our subject teacher, deserves a big thank you for the fun and interesting lecture she provided us. I also want to share the knowledge I've gained, such as how to make a website and how to use Microsoft Word and Excel, which I believe will help me advance in my profession in the near future.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4b22f6d8b89d7ffc9f0091225bdedc18/006a168a8eab30e5-94/s540x810/a3257fa25e4ac600b9da1a506f177063bc909164.jpg)
One of the biggest challenges I have throughout our online class studying is a sluggish internet connection. To be honest, I didn't keep up to several of our discussions because there is usually a gap when our teacher speaks. Another issue is the absence of a laptop or desktop computer. It also became a struggle for me because the smartphone's functions are restricted compared to those of a laptop. Some classes, such as the microsoft presentation, need the usage of a computer, and I must find another means to complete the assignment.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b8c83987ccdc3ae84f28c2df7eb92603/006a168a8eab30e5-2c/s540x810/6ce44798c510d830fc9aa7fdf15c7e4b36ba11ce.jpg)
Because of these issues, I sometimes feel pressed, but our instructor always looks out for our best interests, and it's a wonderful thing to lighten the load of our studies. The tasks are feasible and the timeframes are realistic. I also feel pressed when it comes to assessments or quizzes because I've made mistakes in the past due to a lack of understanding of the options. Overall, I'm enjoying learning about empowering technology, and I pledge to share what I've learned with others so they may benefit as well.

The subject EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY provide us knowledge and skills needed in using Internet.
Within the two months of studying this subject, I have learned many things. From practicing online safety, utilizing different computer softwares such as microsoft word, microsoft excel, and microsoft powerpoint, creating google forms, and how to properly utilize online websites such as Tumblr.
From my experiences, I can say that it is not easy. There are times that we are getting so many activities and I became so stressed in managing my time. I also have a hard time understanding some topics that needed to be applied, such as creating graphs on microsoft word, because I don't have enough gadgets for it. But thankfully, with the consideration of our teacher and working hard on finding solutions, I was able to complete all of my activities and pass it on time. It was a relief whenever I did it because even though it was hard, I know that all of my efforts will be paid off.
I am really happy that I have given a chance to take this subject because I know that I would be able to apply all of my learnings, and it will be a big help for me in the future.
Lastly, I would like to thank my teacher Mrs. Lacbay, for giving her best in providing us all the knowledge that we needed in this new normal learning. Also, my friends for being by my side and helped me in studying. And to God, for giving me and my loved ones safety amidst this pandemic that we are all experiencing.

First, I said to myself why we need to learn the subject Empowerment Technology it has nothing to do with Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strand. As the lectures go on our teacher Ma'am Erlinda Lacbay makes us realize that it will help us in preparing the income statements in Accounting.
The activities are not that hard it's just I'm having hard time to accomplish the assigned activities in this subject because I have work. Thankfully, God is always there whenever I'm having hard time to finsih my activities I just pray and some miracle happen. Ma'am Erlinda adjusted the dates or she accept late submission.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9649971e276a048829cb566c997ee1d3/78dbf10c0db12a33-9e/s540x810/a5e7ab5b82e33149977bb6fc1c735b1c7815d14e.jpg)
I even get annoyed in Ma'am Erlinda in the part where the excel she wanted us to make is not working in tablet. She just keep going that we need to pass it no matter what, but when our class president explained to her that the app she mention is not working in our tablet. Ma'am Erlinda understand and she made us do the alternative activity.
My experience in this subject is a roller coaster I get annoyed and sometimes I enjoy the subjects. I get annoyed because my boss always give me some chores to be done in an instant that's why I can't focus in the subject. I enjoy the subject because I have learned some new things that are new to me.
As for my teacher, Ma'am Erlinda Lacbay she explain every lesson clear. It's just that I have work that causes for me to can't focus in her lecture.
THANK YOU! MA'AM!!

This second semester has ended in a blink of an eye. Everything went on so fast and now, I'm a (possible 😆) candidate for graduation. It has been a memorable year for me, as far as I know, we are the first batch of graduates which are product of the New Normal Learning and I am proud to say that despite the distance, Felix Amante Senior High School honed me well to step up to college life.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/19431fb236f96d3efc4251fd9ac01c78/6cec121f47f969bb-94/s540x810/7a510c79b944b91aa7be3169ecaa16293008d3c2.jpg)
One of the subjects that we took in the second semester is Empowerment Technologies. Living up to its name, it deals with the uses of technology and how it empowers and makes our daily lives much better.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3c03e12b7f36ca045e56b0a8eca044c8/6cec121f47f969bb-b8/s540x810/60d4c5dea521e33d7715b523a7b390f85a0ecf9c.jpg)
It was an exhilarating experience, to say the least. We learned useful hacks about the basic Microsoft applications, which we all know the importance of. I'm sure almost every student knows how significant Microsoft is to one's studies.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b0cda6048230276c2a91f4e0f29bd83e/6cec121f47f969bb-e1/s540x810/d56a1d6d3865949c6c908b1237d4e1284044d979.jpg)
The best part of this journey was the blog making. I am proud of what I've put up on my blog site in Tumblr, I'm more of the simpler, the better; minimalist as what others refer to people like me. I love voicing out my thoughts, it's pretty obvious to the people who know me since I'm a journalist.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0cec1f63e9173774ccf5114d8875d341/6cec121f47f969bb-f4/s540x810/c17cd2f7f192adb4e61cf521af172d10ebeddb41.jpg)
Of course, if there's best, the hard part will always come by. It was a general problem that I've got in the whole school year, to be honest. I discovered my worst habit and it might look beneficial to many but to me, it was troublesome.
I am not a fan of procrastinating which means that I hate putting a work that I can do now for later, it's supposed to be a good thing for me, only if I'm good at time management. Instead of dividing my work so I can finish everything without stressing myself out, I tend to finish everything that I see in the GClassroom up until the assignments are all finished, regardless of the deadline. Even if the deadline is next week, it does not matter, all that matters is I'm done.
But it took a toll on my body and I started to get stressed out on any tasks at hand when in fact, it's nothing big to worry about. I'm working myself on this area and I hope things would work out and play well in college.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7d515fccd9958036a7f2114c3cdd31d5/6cec121f47f969bb-c2/s540x810/8284722342f1e86d0213a3d7dfec1adf3aa23a71.jpg)
Going back to the real topic, in conclusion, my journey in studying Empowerment Technologies is fun and memorable. I learned many things which I can make use of in college. Plus, the fact that our teacher is very persistent in pushing us to do better every time, it did not just help me grow as a media and information literate, but also an individual, a normal citizen.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/27f9ddfd86433b467671faf543baead5/6cec121f47f969bb-54/s540x810/90637afa9530b2c4d5e9f85343f9ff5df403e9ba.jpg)
I would like to thank Ma'am Erlinda Lacbay for everything that she shared to us, both life and technology lessons that I'm sure the whole Diamond class will remember. The subject sounds complicated but in reality, looks--- scratch that, sounds can be deceiving! ✌

CJ’s Reflection
First, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to Mrs. Erlinda Lacbay, for her understanding, support, and assistance to all of us in Diamond. Personally, nais ko pong magpasalamat at kasabay na din po ay nais ko pong humingi ng pasensya.
In the start of the school year, I am both excited and worried. Excited because this is my first time experiencing distance learning; worried because I do not know what to expect. Dumagdag sa kaba ko nang makita ko yung set of teachers kasi halos karamihan ay first time ko din ma-meet.
I would want to thank Ma’am Linda. Alam ko, na alam niya, na ilan sa amin ay strikto ang first assumption sa kanya, but what I appreciated is that from the beginning, pinanatag niya na agad yung loob namin, lalo na loob ko, she set the mood na we are here to learn no matter what and we are here para tulungan ang isa’t isa. Busy man siya, gaya ng ibang teachers namin, yet she never failed to give her answers to queries, assistance to us, and feedback to our outputs. Proven ko yan, Quotang-quota na ako kay Ma’am sa questions, minsan nga kinakabahan na ako baka kasi marindi na siya, or maybe naririndi na siya but she still chose to be nice at me kasi she never left my queries and concerns hanging. Lahat may answers. She even called me once to explain the instructions thoroughly. Kaya, Ma’am, sorry for all the inconvenience saka po sa mga abala, hindi man po halata pero nahihiya po talaga ako. And thank you very much po sa continuous support, assistance, and lalo na po yung encouragement, na kahit minsan ay alanganin po ako sa mga outputs ko because I am not sure if I will be able to meet or beat your expectations and standards, but you have always given me your advice and feedbacks. Sulit po, mabasa ko lang na at least I did good.
Empowerment Technologies would be a great enhancement for all of us during this pandemic mainly because almost every transaction is made online with the help of technology.
I will admit that I am worried to start this subject because I am not that technologically capable and updated compared to others. Lalo na, na yung pinsan ko na computer programmer who had always helped me in the past is not available because of his commitment to his work and his newly-formed family, kaya hindi na sya nakaka-assist sa akin, so paano na. So, I have to start from scratch, I would watch YouTube tutorials to be able to learn using advance apps, specially enhance my editing skills. Hindi naman ako maalam nang ganyan dati kasi nga may editor ako, but now I have to do it on my own, I have to learn and be able to use these apps by myself.
I am happy that I was able to do many firsts in this subject. First poster, first brand logo, first infographics, first blog/vlog, first website; and I am proud of myself because I know I was able to do each independently, na kaya ko din pala kahit na, walang assistance ng iba. I just need to listen to our class, watch some additional tutorials, navigate apps, and apply my learning. Pero hindi ko maitatanggi na, mabagal ako sa paggawa, but at least, I know that I submitted all my outputs with all my best and effort. Tapos mabasa ko lang ang comments ni Ma’am, “Good job CJ!” Yun lang, success, wala nang makakasira ng mood ko.
All I want to say is: Yes, this subject is challenging, hard, and somewhat complicated, but we or I do not have a choice, I am a student and I have my responsibilities. Gawa lang nang gawa; go lang ng go. Push yourself hard at your limits, by doing so, we, as students, will be assured and be able to come up with the best work that we may offer to our teachers. Besides, kung tama and commendable naman talaga ang gawa natin, ibibigay at ibibigay nina Ma’ams and Sirs ang appreciation sa atin.
Muli, words are not enough to express my gratitude to you Mrs, Lacbay, and to all my teachers, thank you very much, thank you, thank you po! Keep safe and God bless po.

Is ROTC is the real answer for patriotism?
Before I discuss my stand about ROTC, let me greet and introduce myself to you guys. Good day, I'm Alleah Anne Lacbay from grade 11 Humanities and Social Science strand in Liceo De San Pablo.
ROTC stands for "Reserve Officers Training Corps." It is a program of study taken in addition to regular college courses. The program includes a specified sequence of leadership, management, and professional knowledge classes as well as "hands-on" leadership experience. For instance, an ROTC cadet may be found leading classmates through adventure training, down a fool rappel towel, or through a rigorous and demanding obstacle course.
To be honest, I'm not in favor for ROTC because I cannot imagine myself wearing a military uniform and doing military exercises but if I were looking to the positive side it will help us to build discipline, leadership, confidence and adopt military traits. It can also help us to defend ourselves in case of trouble. Nonetheless, these traits can't only develop in ROTC but also in the other field. Some of us students in Senior High School may consider this law as a burden because it will be difficult for us to concur our core subjects over ROTC since its required to take. Thus, I'm afraid that this bill might end up overused for power. Before ROTC was mandatory, students paid their officers so that they won’t undergo the program but still get a passing grade. A UST student, Mark Chua, exposed this practice in The Varsitarian in Feb 2001. A month later, Mark Chua’s body was found floating in the Pasig River. His corpse was rolled in a carpet and his hands and mouth were bound in packaging tape. There are also reports of hazing and abuse by ROTC officers even if the program is optional. If they can’t fix the current program and it’s made mandatory as is, how can we expect that we won’t have another Mark Chua's case?
If the problem with today’s youth is patriotism, maybe it’s because they can’t go to school to learn about the Philippines in the first place. Or the physical/psychological abuse from their homes and communities made them disillusioned about society. Students like me will support ROTC if it is optional, I don't think it should be mandatory for every Senior High School students because not every one of us is capable of doing military exercises and services. I want to die with honor, but not this way, there are so many ways to serve our country. Like, listen to lectures about art, culture, history of the Philippines. I think in that way a lot of people will have a more profound appreciation for the country and their responsibilities as Filipino citizens. Let us students choose a field that may suit our interest than force us to be a citizen soldier.
