Will and Emma are having relationship problems because Will is not taking COVID seriously enough ("Therapy"). The next day Will takes his frustration out on the glee club and accuses them of not taking COVID seriously enough (Finn doesn't understand germ theory and Brittany is QAnon.)

Will says, "You guys lack historical perspective. Back in the 80s and 90s there was a young gay composer named Jonathan Larson who saw disease and suffering all around him. When he found out he was afflicted with AIDS, he put all of his pain into the timeless and unreproachable work of art, RENT. RENT taught us about community and caring for one another and more importantly...it taught us that musicals can rock." Will sings the title song from RENT with Artie and Finn.

That night: Santana is fed up with lockdown restrictions and sneaks out of her house to visit Brittany ("Out Tonight"). Brittany is planning a big show that will blow the whole COVID conspiracy wide open. She previews it for Santana ("Over the Moon"). Santana is freaked out and breaks up with Brittany. Santana can excuse ignoring disease prevention guidelines but she draws the line at being Republican about it.

Also that night, Will tries to sleep with Emma but she's too COVID-cautious ("Green Green Dress"). She says maybe they need some time apart because of their different priorities.

While grocery shopping, Will runs into Holly Holliday. Holly is lighting scented candles in the middle of the store but for some reason all of them are defective/unscented ("Light My Candle.") Holly propositions Will. Will says he's seeing Emma, and Holly admits she also has a boyfriend.

"I'm sure we can work something out," Holly says. "Meet me at the basement of the swinger's club at 9:00."

Will shows up at the swinger's club and spots his old rival, Brian Ryan (the Neil Patrick Harris character). They glare at each other, then confront each other and it's revealed that Brian is Holly's boyfriend ("Tango Maureen.") She knew Brian and Will were old high school rivals and set all this up because she's into the whole enemies-to-lovers thing.

Will scolds her. "That is so cruel and manipulative of you. I can't believe you would do this."

Holly tries to convince him to live life to the fullest. ("Another Day.")

Eventually Will thinks about what proud openly gay icon Jonathan larson would do, and he has a threesome with Holly and Brian ("Contact," I'm afraid.)

The morning after, Will can't believe he kind of cheated on Emma/hooked up with Brian and really enjoyed it ("Real Life").

On Monday, Brittany and Santana are still broken up but sitting on opposite sides of the choir room is emotionally difficult for them ("Without You.")

On the way home from school, Kurt and Blaine are like "Aren't you glad we're not like Brittany and Santana, breaking up every 5 seconds over something stupid?" and they sing "I'll Cover You" but then they break up over something stupid.

Will contemplates his sexual awakening, torn between Holly+Brian and Emma ("Johnny Can't Decide/Come To Your Senses" mashup).

The tension in glee club is unavoidable.

"Mr. Shu, this is ridiculous," Rachel says. "Ever since you brought up RENT and Jonathan Larson, it's been nonstop hookups and fighting. Also, Jonathan Larson wasn't gay and he didn't die of AIDS! He was straight and died of some random heart thing."

"What? Jonathan Larson wasn't gay? So my sexual experimentation was under false pretenses?"

Will immediately calls and breaks it off with Brian and they argue ("What You Own").

The next day Santana says "I can't believe we caused this much fuss over a straight man, who died of a random heart thing."

"Wait, just because he was straight doesn't make his words less powerful," Finn says.

"You're right," Will says. "Maybe I'm bisexual." ("Louder than Words.") And then they all sing La Vie Boheme.

At some point Santana and Mercedes sing "Take Me or Leave Me" as their glee club presentation. (It's a four-part episode.) Also I think Gwyneth would have fun with Today 4 U, don't kill me.

A song you think most of your followers won’t have heard before I have been a HUGE fan of Riley Smith for *mumbles a number* more years than either Riley or I want to admit to. But lets just say the year still started with 19 LOL I love him as both an actor and a singer, and I've been going to his gigs since he started coming over here in 2007. Ive hardly missed any of them, I've driven over to Germany to see him. Yeah, hugeass fangirl.

I've often said that along with SG-1, Taylor Swift, Raintown and tennis/Jannik, Riley is one of the people I love that you should never start me talking about beause you will not stop me. Ever.

And Break Somethin' is absolutely one of my favourites of his songs

A song from a soundtrack How can I narrow it down to one? Y'all, I'm queer, I LOVE musicals. Li and I have started, now that my agoraphobia is becoming slightly more manageable, going to the theatre. And for my birthday this summer, we went to see Rent - first time I'd ever seen it live on stage in person and I bounced the entire fucking time. I was crying happy tears because the performance was amazing.

It's a nice evening to send random asks. Please tell me your top 5 songs from musicals I should try singing, before I got SIX The Musical soundtrack stuck in my head for good. Also do you like covers of musical songs in other languages? :>

Getting SIX stuck in your head doesn't sound like a bad thing, in my opinion- lord knows I would prefer it over some of the songs that I get stuck in my head. 😅

For the latter part of the question: sure! I can't say I exactly go looking for the songs, to be completely truthful, but I really like what they did for a West Side Story revival and translated and sung half the songs into Spanish; "The Quartet" from that revival album is, to me, way more powerful having it sung in both Spanish and English, blending together beautifully.

For the former part of the question- here's my top 5 favorites- only English, alas:

1. Nonstop from Hamilton- a go to favorite for me; this is the song I play when I want to get shit done, when I need a boost, when you just want to reminder to go for your dreams and a fine example of Lin Manuela Miranda favorite style of blending chorus.

2. Masochist from Love Hate Nation- from "Be More Chill" Joe Iconis, this is from a later musical of his and a queer anthem bop; don't let the title fool you, in it the actress sings about how she "isn't no Masochist" and to be truthful of who you are. The song is also originally sung by wonderful trans actress Emerson Mae Smith, who brings power and soul into the voice of Kitty, who sings this queer pride ballad.

3. I'm Alive from Albert Cashier Musical- definitely a hidden favorite from a concept musical album, this is from a musical I hope to one day get a proper album and production; the musical is based on the story of Albert Cashier, a ex Union Civil War Soldier who went to trial as it was discovered, years later & after the war, that he was AFAB. It tells 2 stories; one where he's old and stuck in a hospital, and one when he's in the war. I saw a concert version performance at Greenwich Village and fell in love with the whole musical, which is a mix of folk-pop, and trans celebration. So far there's only 2 songs available on YouTube, and "I Gotta Try" is one you definitely need to listen to, but "I'm Alive" has such a good beat and a catchy chorus that I just love.

4. Paciencia y Fe from In the Heights (Original Broadway Version)- from the older hit musical of Manuel Miranda, Paciencia y Fe is a gorgeous song about past dreams and hopes, and Olga Merediz voice is *phenomenal* hands down. Honestly, I have a soft spot for the musical in general, as it was my first show I got to work on outside of academic (it was a regional production, nothing fancy, but still,) and truly, while I saw the movie and liked it well enough, the Original Broadway version is going to top that over the film in my heart. To be honest, I would love to have Merediz sing this is full Spanish- it would be 1000% *amazing*

And there's a lot of other favorites as well- Hadestown is a fantastic album, I enjoyed Dear Evan Hansen, I'm a sucker for La Vie Boheme from Rent- I'm old, lol.

"Prom" has some great songs, and I like Be More Chill- "Michael in the Bathroom" c'mon- also "Last on Land" which is from Joe Iconis (from another musical of his that hasn't had a full performance yet) is a favorite that speaks to my soul and okay, I listen to this one pretty often but hell, I got to be truthful and say:

5. For Good From Wicked- Listen. Listen. Wicked was my first official Broadway tour, it was the first showtune album I listened to that wasn't from my parents' collection (I grew up listening to Andrew Lloyd Webber) and for one Christmas I got a playbill poster that has since been professionally framed. Wicked is near and dear to my heart. And as much as "Defying Gravity" and "Popular" are, well, *popular*, "For Good" is a great song, as it really shows the balance between Menzel's & Chenoweth's voices; you get it in the power ballad "Defying Gravity" but to a more subdued way that I appreciate; it's a goodbye, it's a thank you, it's I'm sorry, it's two women who aren't sure if they changed for the better, but fuck, they changed, and they changed because of their relationship. And they're still grateful that they had each other in their lives.

Dear Evan Hansen: Stay away from trees while listening to this and you’ll be fine 0/10

Waitress: No dancing, only baking 1/10

Les Misérables: You’ll end up crying throughout the whole thing. Only potential danger is leaning at the window to wave your red flag during One Day More 2/10

Falsettos: You’ll be out of breath before Four Jews is even done, after that you’re too busy crying 2.5/10

Hamilton: You may injure your neck during helpless/satisfied while acting out Hamilton, Eliza and Angelicas conversation...your knees may also hurt from licking the founding fathers boots if you’re one of *those* fans 3/10

Wicked: Pretty safe...at least until Dancing Through Life. Unless you climb onto a roof for Defying Gravity, it’s pretty much safe 4/10

Be More Chill: SQUIP’s hand movements are a bitch to learn. Safe enough, mostly you can just dance however you want. Apart from The Smartphone Hour. You do that, you gotta follow the exact choreography, including flinging a banana peel somewhere 7.5/10

Mean Girls: Pretty much non stop dancing. You’ve got complicated tap dances, jumping on furniture and so many high energy songs 8/10

Six: 42 minutes of non-stop dancing with only a short break during Heart of Stone. It’s even worse if you’ve memorised all the choreography. Wouldn’t recommend, especially in heels. 9/10

Cats: Potential injury to hips during Rum Tum Tugger. Don’t attempt Mungojerrie and Rumplelteazer on your own. Don’t attempt The Old Gumbie Cat. Attempt the dances when you’ve got lots of space. Maybe not even then 10/10

Newsies: Do not try it. Seriously. Don’t even consider it. You will get hurt 100000/10
