Tuesday's round of news starts with the proper reveal of the brand-new stage, which twitter's auto-translate calls the "Nampula Ruins", something I doubt the official English name will be. The Ruins are apparently very well-preserved and serve as a popular tourist destination in the Splatlands.

Edit: the official name has been revealed to be Um'ami Ruins!

Moving onto today's weapon kits, the first is the Rapid Blaster Deco with Torpedo and Inkjet.

And on the other hand, we also have the L-3 Nozzlenose D, with Burst Bomb and Ultra Stamp.

Both of these kits in particular have a bit of a pattern of having very good and synergistic Sub weapons while their Specials leave something to be desired in the current state of the game. The Kensa Rapid Blaster in Splatoon 2 showed us what kind of a menace this Blaster was with Torpedo combos, while L-3 loves Burst Bomb to quickly clean up after hitting its three shots, but neither Inkjet nor Ultra Stamp has seen much use in our current Crab-dominated metagame. We've yet to see the patch notes, though, so maybe by the time these weapons arrive things will have changed enough for their weaknesses to not be as relevant, or maybe not be relevant at all.

The last of today's announcements is that they are finally adding the Keywords feature they teased more than six months ago! With this, you can enter a code that allows you to interact with and join other players with the same code active. This is something that has all kinds of applications, from making it easier for streamers to play with viewers, or making it easier to put together pick-up teams for competitive play.

Im not too sure if there's any lore reasons for this, but Im very interested to know how inkfish/the marine life on Earth in Splatoon know about certain mammals, especially what they looked like, like the dolphin (l-3 nozzlenose D, which stands for dolphin, also the flipper flopper), the manatee (as seen on the manatee swag sweat) and the orca (excluding our hero mode friend, as seen on the orca bolero).

like, I guess since we know they have plenty of fossils from humans, and other animals that died out, so they definitely know about mammals? and thus marine mammals would be of special interest I guess. like, "these guys were so unlike us but so similar by sharing our ancestral home with us"! that must be fun for them. though the bigger question for me is if there are any data left by humans that they have access to, in order to see what they looked like with such detail.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Octo Blog! Today we will be going over new maps, weapons, and features. Lets dive in!

Lets talk about the new map Um’ami Ruins. This map may have some lore implications because it has artifacts prehistoric before the great turf war. None of these can be seen in the trailer except the structure in the background.

Now onto weapons! 2 new weapon variants were reveled, the L-3 nozzlenose D and Rapid Blaster Deco. The L-3 has burst bombs and ultra stamp as a special well the Blaster has torpedo and Ink Jet for a special.

Now its time for the last segment, new features! The lobby and matchmaking will have a pool option. To use the “pool” option you can insert a keyword and find people with the same keyword.
