Tommy's dsmp video is regressing me rn. it was such a horrible time in everyone's life as the world was essentially shut down. but god you had connections, good and bad, with SO MANY PEOPLE. you all rallied behind one thing, a piece of media that is near impossible to experience again. A moment in time that you had to be there for

I'm glad Tommy could look at it and laugh, and be proud, and realize how much it meant and how deep it was for so many people who really sunk their teeth into it.

really without it or hermitcraft i'd have nothing right now. even with all thats been revealed i can still say that DSMP changed my life for the better and I hope that those behind it can be proud of that.

Special thanks to Eret, for really founding the roleplaying aspect of the server, and shaping it with a few simple words. It was never meant to be.

I don't know why, but today I dreamed about L'manberg. I was very confused because I haven't thought about L'manberg as a country for a while, you know?

But then I remembered, today is November 16th. Of course something happened today that many will remember.

sometimes i think about l'manberg as meaning-makers.

they are what made the dsmp transcend minecraft as a statistical, skill-centric game into something where meaning is arbitrary. this works in both an in-narrative and meta angle. on one hand, power in the dsmp before l'manberg was centered on pvp and resources (and ultimately, that also dictated how power is gained and lost for the rest of the dsmp's lifetime). that's the main thing they were fighting against, yeah? that people in l'manberg were not as physically skilled in a more strategic, game-like minecraft sense compared to the dteam and their allies.

l'manberg is literally the introduction of power derived from personal meaning and interests, something more supposedly "arbitrary" than, let's say, being able to pvp like techno or dream. it's the one thing you cannot measure compared to physical power (like dream's insane pvp skills) or resources (dream's ability to build the prison with sam, or dream and the emerald duo being able to blow up nlm). l'manberg literally sets the precedent of the dsmp being controlled by! arbitrary means!

it works in good and bad ways, because i mean like. defying the status quo of power is one thing, but how is a completely other thing. how every l'manbergian viewed l'manberg isn't the same with each other, especially wilbur. besides all the principles he designates to the idea of l'manberg, we can't ignore that he literally brings up geopolitical constructs into the dsmp like discussions of economy (salmon being their main produce) or police (his answer of what they'll do abt pet deaths). but of course meaning-making isn't bad, because, i mean, look at the discs! at the pets everyone owns!

i joke about everyone needing to apologize to the dsmp after the minecraft movie trailer dropped because. the dsmp will forever encapsulate the meaning of minecraft better than that movie ever will. there is always a constant discussion of power - entertaining that this game, this server is winnable. the closemindedness people can have when dictating how minecraft should be played (ie. dream on the pvp side, wilbur on the narrative side) versus minecraft being something entirely up to your decision, something that is a shared space of people with varying opinions and thought processes.

yeah i'm crazy about l'manberg actually, and the precedent it set in the dsmp. what it challenges and what it's caused. what it challenged and reinforced. what a crazy nation

something about c!wilbur never truly acknowledging that c!fundy was part of l'manberg. something about fundy not being in the national anthem. something about how in the revised version, wilbur kept eret's name in instead of just switching it with fundy's. something about how wilbur told phil that the crosses on the flag represented the founders. something about there only being three crosses. something about fundy (even if it was jokingly) insisting that wilbur made it with him in mind. something about the fine line between ignorance and denial.

It was a Schlatt-centric animation project that explored his time in the dsmp and I was so lucky to snag this part :3 Of course I added sweaterduo crumbs how could I not. But do not make the mistake that I like wilbur he greatly disappointed me and if you like him please dni !!!!!! i'm simply stealing his character

I will never mentally shut up about how L'manberg was made in protest to brutality done by Sapnap and co, standing in defiance of someone in more armor and resources then tommy and wilbur had ever seen and them going "no, that doesnt mean you get to make the rules we're not doing anything wrong, you don't get to say we are just because you're stronger" and how they held onto that point until the very strongest in the land looked at this country of no armor and attempts at peace and went "how dare they not be as strong as us yet try and be equal to us and say that we were wrong for what we did to them" and bombed them to fucking bedrock, and even THEN when the physical L'manberg broke, as long as Tommy was there, as long as Tommy was fighting, L'manberg never truly died.

Tommy kept saying "no, i was wronged, i don't care that you're stronger then me, you still wronged me." Perhaps over time, the sentiment grew more bitter, but to the very end Tommy stood for L'manberg and stood for equality amongst players and factions, said "no you don't get to always win" Like I'm a L'manberg defender to my dying breath, you can't change my mind on that ever.
