You say you've built this city to prey on others' fears, Quackity. A nation in the business of souls. Every lost soul that comes here is trapped by your web of slots and blinking lights, their every whim dictated by the spider at the center with all the power. You say you aren't a dictator.

I have a question for you. Do you think that Sarah at the gas station cares what you call yourself when she's paid in casino tokens? When Sarah knows there's no way she'll ever have a say? You write the orders after all. She won't do a thing when the debt collectors come breaking down her door, you know, because she knows there's no help coming.

You're running away from something. Death. Obscurity. The Past. You fear death so much you picked up torture as a side hobby to try and escape it. At the center of the web, you are the spider, but I don't think you've ever stepped outside the threads of power you wove. You're as trapped by fear as every other soul you lured here.

You built Las Nevadas to sate a need for power, Quackity. You and you alone write the laws. Maybe you aren't a dictator, but one can't help but notice that there's no vice president. You aren't a tyrant, but everyone who stands against your values is quietly removed. You have the final say in everything, big or small, and it's tearing you apart. Really, you can't be a dictator.

You dip your fingers into the oil that smooths your city's run. The feeling of control it gives you is better than any high you used to partake in. I don't think you've let yourself notice the way the gears have started to cut into your skin- you're reaching too deep. You won't stop. You're fueled by the fear of death and the fear of failure, and the fear that eventually everything you've forcefully molded together with your own hands will fall apart and leave nothing but dust and scars, and the machine is consuming you.

Your web is fraying and you will never be able to keep up. Little spider, maybe what you say is true. But know the souls you exchange like driftchips will collect your debt eventually. Quackity, when they break down your door, will you fight?
