the world keeps turning
Summary: The masters across China have congregated to the Jade Palace to celebrate Po as Oogway’s Successor. Though how easily they manage to do this is another story entirely.
A/N: Big surprise, I missed the Soothsayer and I needed to get the Brainworms(tm) out. This fic is something of a sequel to fall (take two), as well as a prequel to my Gongmen Successor AU. It makes sense in context.
Whether I do anything more with this concept is another question entirely. This is headcanon-heavy and retcons the whole thing regarding the Dragon Master title.
---------------
The sun glints off the surface of the water, leaving the river sparkling in the early morning light.
The Soothsayer exits the quarters on the boat and made her way to the edge, the assorted servants and workers not paying her much mind. Waves lap gently at the side of the boat. She is no stranger to travel, as more often than not she trailed behind Gongmen’s nobles long ago, and behind its present-day kung fu protectors.
A shadow looms behind her. “We should be at the Valley before noon.”
“Good.” She glances up at Storming Ox and the side of her mouth quirks up. “You’re tense.”
Her tone broached no argument. It was difficult for the master to hide anything from her own experience and insight.
“And so are you,” he said, nodding to the vice grip she had her cane in.
Her smirk diminishes. As it stands, the same went for her finding it difficult to hide from his analytical eye. Neither of them have made any sort of mention about it-- since where was the fun in that?-- but it was... amusing to outmaneuver the other.
“I feel it is only natural--” And she purses her lips for a moment. “Considering that we’ve been called to the Valley of Peace to celebrate the naming of a new Grandmaster of China.”
Storming Ox’s brow raised in amusement. “You and I both know you don’t give a rat’s behind about formalities like that.”
“Only when it is convenient. I am an outlier in a celebration that primarily consists of masters as its guests, and what knowledge of qi I know is theoretical and tied to the medicinal arts.”
Her gaze shifts to the river’s edge, offering Ox some privacy regarding his own insecurities. When the masters had simultaneously come back as quickly as they were abducted, him and Croc had to decide who stayed in Gongmen and who would learn about qi.
“It’s a no-brainer, having you helm the Council, with your analytical eye,” Croc had said, before making eye contact with the Soothsayer. “Besides, I don’t exactly-- how you say?-- rank high in the Gongmen popularity poll right now.”
The months after Master Thundering Rhino’s death left them inseparable in their grief. Now, months of separation left Storming Ox unmoored in a way she couldn’t quite help out with.
“Oh, like that’s ever bothered you. And even if it did, the invitation specifically asked for you too. I think--” And he leans on the edge of the boat beside her, his thick arms folded. “You’re nervous for a different reason.”
The old goat looks at her distorted reflection.
“The pandas.”
The Soothsayer went still.
The fortune that spelt disaster for the nearby panda village was not common knowledge, and the late noble peacock family made sure of that. Only those in their inner circle would know of some of its details, but not all.
The Master’s Council-- as the protectors of Gongmen City-- was in a unique position to know all of it.
“I don’t think they’d... blame you, you know,” he adds, much more gently. “Croc says they’re good people, from what little he writes. Honestly, I think a good chunk of them would be too young to remember.”
She lets the din of the river and workers milling about wash over them in lieu of an answer. The houses were starting to dot the landscape much more frequently.
Despite this, he picks up the conversation for her. “Though, I guess you already know that. But knowing what’s right is different from feeling what’s right. Or something. I was never good with sayings. What I’m trying to say is that it’ll be fine.”
That, she lets an amused huff at.
“We’re ahead of schedule.” Storming Ox looks up. She couldn’t help but look up as well.
In the distance, they could see the mountain peak that held the Jade Palace.
---------------
If there was one word the Soothsayer can describe the Valley of Peace, it was quaint.
While it was far from being a small village, it didn’t have the bustling streets or tall buildings she was used to in Gongmen. Even the higher-class buildings that housed what she could only assume were mostly Jade Palace servants and their immediate family were only differentiated by its red walls and proximity to the Jade Palace itself. It wasn’t uncommon to have said buildings neighbor the rice paddies.
Speaking of which, she could see the farmers stop their work to watch their boat pass by. As they approached, she saw the people crowding the water’s edge and surrounding bridges, watching for boats and palanquins and what other manner of transport masters had as they made the pilgrimage to what is essentially their capital.
When they finally made landfall on their small harbor (recently built, or rebuilt she noted), everyone had their eyes solely on Storming Ox. Which was fine by her, and was certainly fine for him as he quietly soaked in the attention. His street brawler days were far behind him, but he was not immune to feeling appreciative of the clamor celebrating his arrival.
Making their way through the winding paths of the Valley, they made it to its heart, where several other masters from across China were mingling. She recognized some of them, if only for their reputation, but the rest were strangers to her.
It was no different than the soirees the nobles would have, if only by scale and prestige. A closer look at the crowds showed the heart of the differences. The masters still mingled with the few villagers that made their way to them, the atmosphere less cutthroat.
The majority of them wore modest hanfu-- which even then was most likely their most extravagant-- left her feeling overdressed with her usual attire of layered silks.
Storming Ox nudged her. “Welcoming committee's here.”
She gave a small huff at that... before having to step out of the way as Po made a beeline towards the master.
“Oh, Master Storming Ox! You’re here!” The panda was bouncing on his heels. “How’s Gongmen City since we brought justice to it? Have you mastered some new techniques? Could we do a training spar?”
“Still there, a little too busy with city affairs for that, and--”
“Po, can you please not do this every time a master arrives.” Trailing behind the panda was Shifu, his brows knitted and fur a little frazzled. He pushed Po back with his peach tree staff. “At least give them a moment to breathe.”
“But-- but--”
“The breathing space would be much appreciated, thank you,” the Soothsayer chimed in.
“Soothsayer!” Po beamed. “What’s been going on with you? Any future omens we should know about?”
She couldn’t help but let out a wry smile at that. “Nothing so dire as that. I should ask the same to you, Grandmaster of All China, Oogway’s Successor, and Dragon Warrior--”
“You really don’t need to--” he winced. “Just Po is fine.”
“Po the Just--”
Even the red panda’s ears jerked up slightly in mild amusement.
“Stop heckling the poor kid,” Storming Ox said.
“In all seriousness, it must be a great honor.” Then, to Shifu she adds: “You must be proud.”
Po falls silent at that, opening and closing one of his hands (with minimal burn scars on his pads, she notes).
“It is a momentous occasion,” Shifu said.
She lets out an understanding hm at that. As much as Oogway’s passing had been a shock to the masters across China, the sudden naming of his successor after years of not addressing it was even more so.
The clamor of the Valley she had been growing used to ever since they arrived suddenly spikes as a loud crash echoed from the other side of the center. The red panda jolts to attention, the fur on the end of tail standing up.
Po looks at the cloud of dust that was kicked up and winces. “Uh, I’ll get a look-see at what happened--”
“No, I will,” Shifu cuts in. “You get the rest of the Five and the pandas to escort the masters to their guest quarters.”
The panda hesitates to refute or insist but nonetheless complies, melting into the crowd to gather the mentioned group. The other master nods once more before doing the same, making his way to the source of the fracas.
A tightness winds the old goat’s guts. Granted, it may come with the nerves at the thought of the pandas being here-- did they not have their own lives to get back to?-- but the pauses between Po and Shifu spoke volumes than what amounted as small talk.
She had been so engrossed by trying to make sense of it that she had nearly missed the approaching figure. Though, it would have been difficult to not pay attention to the only bright spot of hanfu in a sea of soft greens and other earth tones.
“Hello, Gongmen City masters!” a chipper voice rang out.
It was a bit jarring to come face to face with another panda. With Po, she was too wound up by nerves and grief and a great effort to keep up her veneer of smugness in front of Shen for the fact that it had been thirty years since she’s seen his kind sink in properly.
Now, it seemed that the shock was finally catching up with her.
The panda in question looked about Po’s age, with eyespots that framed her face like makeup. Though, that was on top of the actual makeup that was already there-- a bit of lipstick here, some blush there. With her bright, floral hanfu, it felt like she was glimpsing into another world where the pandas to thrive in Gongmen and managed to break through to afford fineries.
“Master, singular,” the Soothsayer managed to say. “I am simply the soothsayer advisor to the Mater’s Council.”
Storming Ox looked like he was about to object, but the panda took one glimpse at her and her silks and smiled. “My mistake. Love the patterns. Overwhelming, but you make it work.”
“Um, thank... you,” she lodged out of her throat. “And who might you be?”
She puts a hand to her chest in faux-dramatics. “Mei Mei. A pleasure.”
Storming Ox clears his throat, thankfully saving her from this moment. “Um, about those lodgings? We’ve come a long way.”
“Oh, of course, of course!”
And with that, they were off to yet another part of the Valley-- also newly built. The Soothsayer let the conversation glide over her, only answering once in a while. She should be much more cautious of what she was saying, but seeing so many pandas helping with lodging the masters, or milling around, or playing in one place left her unmoored.
“And... here we are!”
They stopped at one of the newer buildings around the base of the mountain. It was a two-storey building, slightly taller than the older buildings, and with a small balcony that overlooked the river.
“I’m pretty sure this is the place Croc lived at, when he wasn’t up at the Jade Palace doing lessons or helping with repairs,” Mei Mei explained. “So I guess it makes sense!”
Now it was Storming Ox’s turn to feel a bit off-kilter. “Uh-huh...”
“If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask,” the panda said. “Though maybe not now, since I’m also working the entertainment and-- well-- never mind about that!”
Before the Soothsayer had a chance to ask, Mei Mei was off. Once her trailing hanfu and ribbons were out of view, the both of their shoulders sagged.
“See, what’d I tell you?” the master said. “Fine.”
The old goat swung blindly at his direction, causing him to let out a shocked sort of laugh.

I think that regardless of whether or not Anakin was Knighted at the right age, being recognised as Master at age 22 was never even remotely on the cards.
(I headcanon that while Knighting is a thing that is done by the Council (or another Jedi acting in their stead), being a master is something the individual Jedi works on and achieves over time, and one day the Council or whoever just solemnises the fact that the Jedi became Master. It usually coincides with Knighting a Padawan partly because of tradition, and partly because in order to teach effectively, you have to understand what you’re teaching. See Kung Fu Panda 3 for more on that theme.)
Anakin Skywalker was not, and never would have been, the Jedi’s brightest star.
Because unlike Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi did not measure value by raw power alone.
Even IF Anakin hadn’t fallen so fully and completely and betrayed the family who took him in and raised him and gave him everything with zero hesitation, he wouldn’t have been their brightest star.
Not by the Jedi’s own standards, anyway.
Anakin was one among many and he had certain skills. But so did others.
Sure, Anakin could do some shit with the Force others couldn’t, but so far as we can see, Anakin can’t heal, he can barely teach and certainly has no skill with particularly young people, he has exactly zero political skills, no diplomacy, he’s not all that great undercover. Anakin has a VERY select skill set and there are plenty of other Jedi who would’ve outstripped him in plenty of skills he either just doesn’t have or only barely manages.
Everyone has valuable skills they can contribute to society, Anakin was no better than anyone else in the Jedi Order who had skills Anakin just… doesn’t have. Are they any less of a bright star just because they happen not to have been born with Anakin’s raw power even though they’ve worked for decades to hone their particular skill set to a level that can’t actually be achieved via brute force?
The man can swing a laser sword and fly a plane, hoorah. Everything else he does that looks cool is just that raw power that isn’t actually a skill. Call me when he has more skills that DON’T get utilized to enact lots of violence and THEN try to tell me he was the Jedi’s brightest star. And you’d still be wrong.

The master council being uncles to tigress
Please and thank you
YESSSSSS
You know I'm just cutely ignore the fact that Rhino is actually dead for the sake of these headcanons so yeah haha
Croc would definitely try to be that "cool" uncle but just ends up being kinda cringe-
"that sounds like "cap" as you youngsters would say hahahahahaha" "...okay who let him on the internet-"
Well Tigress isn't part of the family but if she had been, like had been adopted by one of them, Croc 100% the uncle that's "heyyy do you remember when you were x age and did y and z?" Or "remember I was the guy that used to change your diapers?" JSJSJSJSJ
Instead he just tells Tigress about cool stories and even though she's not really a person to listen to stories about kung fu, that's more of Po's thing, but she has to admit they are really interesting
Rhino is typically busy so he doesn't talk with Tigress much, like it's super awkward they just sit there and no one says anything djdjdd-
He's pretty chill tho, asks Tigress about her kung fu life, what it's like at the Jade Palace, etc, basically some casual talk
Ox actually takes the time to get to know Tigress well so that he can organize activities for them to do when they hang out (not saying Rhino and Croc don't but yk)
As we know, Tigress isn't a person who enjoys "fun time" and instead of forcing her to relax the way one normally would Ox works with her method of relaxing
Ox is the actual cool uncle lmboooo no offense Croc
They'll all happy to teach Tigress some kung fu if she wants it, obviously since they're different species the methods will have to be tweaked and it may not work for her, so really it's more tips and tricks
Tigress is always willing to look for more ways to improve so she takes up the offer
Not to mention they're literally amongst the best kung fu masters lol not like that matters to Tigress tho
Tigress is a very skilled kung fu master, if she wasn't part of the Furious Five she defo qualifies to be a part of the Masters Council, so that's kinda what got her the attention, she's pretty independent ngl
Obv they respect her decision to stay with the Five just if she ever decides to leave she has a place within the Council

Heya anon, thx for the ask ! I think this is a good opportunity to set their relationships with each other too. Here it is !
So basically this modern AU is where Crane takes a part-time job to take care of Tigress for Shifu while he's away and shenanigans ensue. If you've seen most of my modern au stuff, I've also added Mei Ling, The master council, and Su Wu (they're a fun addition!). Most of the characters here haven't really been shown in the au, but will take part in it sooner. I'll also add more backstory since I can’t delve into all of them by drawing it heh..
Rhino, Croc, and Ox are war vets who started a kung fu class inherited from Rhino's father. They met Su (ex-criminal, now helps the government on solving cases) when a case involves the three. Tigress (before Crane takes the job) was their student and usually had to wait until evening to go home (since Shifu was very busy). So the three help to make her comfy while waiting. Su eventually met her one day and gets to know her the more she spends time with them.
Shifu works at Oogway's cooperation (let's just say it's Jade corp cause it sounds cool lol) and becomes his trusted right-hand man. even though they're not related, Oogway has a soft spot for Tigress, even becomes a grandfather figure for her.
Tai lung and Su are connected by the fact they’re criminals and would be explained later.
Even though Shen murdered the panda family, Po actually didn't know about him until mentioned by Su when she opened a case for Shen (basically Rhino got shot and so she's out for revenge. My friend made a drawing of it here !) and so they’re not actually enemies.
so there it is ! that’s basically their relationship with each other. I’m going to continue the au but probably slower than usual since I have my hands full atm. Again, thanks for the ask and I’m glad that you enjoy the art. Have a good day!

Kung Fu Gems
AU where all the animals are gems (or just kung fu people?) based on their colours (Steven Universe AU in a way)
Onyx (Po)
navel
not sure what he'd have as a weapon? that jade staff is a good contender
Tiger's Eye (Tigress)
right palm
maybe she doesn't need a weapon, since she's that badass already
Sodalite (Crane)
forehead? debatable
he could have water wings in a humanoid AU, but I'm going with the more animalistic alien design just because it's cool (Sodalite is connected to the water and air element, despite water being bad for cleaning Sodalite due to it's mohs at a 6)
Brown Banded Agate (Monkey)
left cheek? it might change if there's a better place for him
staff
Ricolite (Viper)
my first thought was navel, but that might damage her gem in the animalistic alien interpretation, forehead is good too, or back (personality wise it's an eh for me)
ribbons
Bloodstone (Mantis)
lower back
they just don't use weapons (^~^;)ゞ
Red Agate (Shifu)
forehead (because that patch of red is cute)
staff
Jadeite (Oogway)
navel
staff
Tai Lung can be a leopard skin jasper but I don't know how his control over fire would play into that. He can be a blue gem with connections to the fire element, his gemstone is on his chest.
I have a lot more but this all I'm gonna do for now haha
(edit: added images)

Yeah no I lied I got more unpopular opinions that I fidn't share because I didn't want to offend people...that sentiment is over for multiple reasons; the ain one being that this is my blog and I can whatever the fuck I please.
I don't like Rhino
He gets to get away with vandalism -aka just bursting trough buildings/walls as he pleases- because his dad is famous and rich
He is worried that his dad is not proud of him yet he partakes in shady street fighting that masters most likely look down upon even tho he doesn't need the money
Speaking of him taking part in those fights would have been extremely unfair against the other fighters if Ox and Croc didn't have their own "talents" because being the son of a master, he probs got training already
Speaking for Ox and Croc when saying they don't fight for money was irresponsible. Unlike him Ox and Croc actually needed the money and if it wasn't for them ending up having a rather luxurious life by "fighting for honor" (oh the irony) Ox and Croc would have had no money whatsoever.
Bonus: Ox finding out the weak-point of the Wu Vortex was the connection was not "tactcal brilliance"- it was common sense and fucking obvious.
fav thing and unpopular opinion of the short film the wu sisters in
Favorite thing(s) about SotM
My babies, duh. There is a reason I came into this fandom spamming nothig but Wu content. They have so much potential for all kinds of stories and art. Also femal villains deserve more recognition. Also also they are the only bad guys in this franchise, who don't treat the people workijg with/for them like crap; aka Su loves Wing and Wan to hell and back and it's weirdly wholesome.
The added patterns onto the background. It's the kind of animation I can always simp for, no matter how often I watch it.
On the animation note: the Wu Vortex. Because fast moving, shiny lights are neat.
Unpopular opinion
So you are just going to ignore Oogway used chi in the short?
SO YOU ARE JUST GOING TO IGNORE THE WU VORTEX IS A CHI BASED ATTACK???

If someone came up to me today and said “tumblr user keanurevees if you could have one wish come true what would it be” I would put master shifu from kung fu panda into the star wars prequels. He would take one look at anakin and roundhouse kick him so hard that the dark side would visibly fly out of his body and into a different dimension. Him and obi wan would play rock paper scissors during council meetings and piss off mace windu. Every day he would challenge yoda to a duel because there can only be one raccoon in the jedi temple. Palpatine wouldn’t even get past the phantom menace. No one is immune to the wuxi finger hold

Okay now I'm invested. Can you tell us which element each of The Furious Five are? I'm guessing Crane is air? Your AU is so good !
Ooohh, I've been waiting for someone to ask this. Imma just list down the whole gang.
I made Crane an airbender, for obvious reasons. Tigress is a firebender cause of how aggressive her fighting style and just her overall design is. Mantis is an earthbender, he already has the praying mantis style of kung fu down lmao. For Viper, i honestly had a hard time between earthbender and waterbender, but ultimately she became the waterbender of the group since she's already got a fluid fighting style and with her ribbon dancing and all that. Lastly I figured, since none of the members are a nonbender, i think Monkey should be the one, he's just really fast and good with flips which reminds me of Ty Lee.
Of course they don't exactly look the conventional citizens of their nation (except for Tigress and Mantis). I think since they mostly reside at the Jade Palace to train their respective elements, then maybe they were given incentives to dress however the like, which includes dressing outside of their nation's aesthetics, so long as it doesn't disrupt their training (Crane and Monkey comes to mind). I also headcanonned Viper to be mix earth kingdom and water tribe, which is why she's a waterbender posing in more earth kindom clothes.
Master Shifu (lmao would they call him Shifu Shifu in atla verse) is a firebender, directly taking under Tai Lung (he's in prison now though) and Tigress under his wing who I made both firebenders. Master Oogway is now an airbender since he just has that feel y'know? Very spiritual and all that.
Lastly, I made Po an earthbender, although he went about his life not knowing he was a bender at all. I like to think that he was more of a late bloomer and him being under Mr. Ping, who is also just a regular Earth Kingdom citizen, he never honed his skills despite being an avid fan of all things bending related. Being announced as the Avatar was definetly what he was not expecting.
For the Villains, Tai Lung was trained to be the next Avatar under Master Shifu's, but wait I thought the Avatar was an earthbender? Well since councils were made known of who the avatar was when they were still a baby and was only to reveal this to the Avatar theirself when they turn 16, news got passed to the Fire Nation that a certain remote village in the Earth Kingdom resides the new Avatar. No one expected that the exact village to be massacerred the next week. Lord Shen, the sole heir to the Peacock Clan, one of the strongest clans known in the Fire Nation, was unfortunately a nonbender. Of course this didn't stop Shen, although not possessing any bending abilities, he soon became a powerful figure with the help of his machines. Soothsayer predicts that he will meet his end by an Avatar hailing from the Earth Kingdom. This specificity is important to showcase how in the movie, only the pandas are a threat to him, by making sure only an Earth Kingdom Avatar was to defeat him, the events will go about without him trying to capture any more Avatars. Kai on the other hand was an earthbender soldier, a close friend to Monk Oogway. He returned to seek revenge after escaping the spirit world after 500 years.
#i hope this all makes sense lmao i just brain spat that in less than 15 minutes#mebs rambles#kung fu panda#atla#kfp!atla#atla au

An AU of your AU, Part 1
It was so still and silent in Gongmen City that one could’ve heard a pin drop.
The Masters’ Council, the Soothsayer, the civilians-all were trapped in a deafening silence, broken only by the occasional lapping of water or gasps and sniffles.
He’d changed, and not for the better
He was unrecognizable.
Po the Dragon Warrior, had done the unthinkable.
No one-not the remaining members of the Five, not Shifu, not those of Gongmen-dared approach him.
Off to one side of the wayward panda lay the horribly mutilated, bloodied body of a white peacock.
In his arms, meanwhile, he cradled his precious lost love, she who had grown from hating him to accepting him, to a friend, then finally his lover. She, who had paid the ultimate price so he wouldn’t have to.
There was not a stirring of a breath from the tiger’s form, nor the slightest movement of a finger, nor even the slightest hint of a heartbeat.
The great Master Tigress was gone, at Lord Shen’s hands.
And now Shen was gone, too, violently and unnecessarily, at the hands of the bereaved and corrupted Dragon Warrior.
All remained mostly silent, save for the lapping of water and occasional scared children’s cries.
But another sound was building up.
The Dragon Warrior’s breath was becoming louder and louder as he hyperventilated, holding the lifeless form of one of the few true friends he’d ever had in his life.
She who would never again breathe a breath of air.
She was gone before a single gray hair, before a single shrivel in her skin.
She who would never again train in the noble art of kung fu with her comrades.
She who would never again engage in playful back-and-forth banter with her friend.
She who would never again wake up to the sound of a gong in the morning to begin her daily training.
She who would never grow old with the one who had helped break down the long-standing walls around her heart.
The hyperventilation continued in a chilling crescendo.
Then finally, he lost it.
A bloodcurdling, agonized scream, full of pure hatred and sorrow, a scream that could’ve conveyed all the sufferings of the world since suffering itself first began, tore from the panda’s mouth.
No one dared approach him.
All was silent again, save the echo of the panda’s scream, the lapping of water and the cries of children and even adults.
The silence gradually faded as unintelligible voices whispered, descending down upon the site of the double tragedy, and the pre-dawn darkness was lit up by ethereal blue light streams, like insubstantial water, descending down from the heavens, accompanying the voices.
No one dared move or say anything.
Meanwhile, the voices and blue lights kept descending upon the scene.
They knew what must be done.
Okay, but I’m literally speechless right now. This is amazing! Well done, Anon!!

⠀ █ BRIEF BIO :
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shen was born into the noble Peacock ( KongQue / 孔雀 ) family, who had risen to power in Gongmen City and were admired by its people for their invention of fireworks. But when the young Shen began to show interest in making weapons that relied on the fireworks' gunpowder, his loving father and mother grew worried and asked their court soothsayer what his future held. She proclaimed that if he continued with his dark pursuits, he would be defeated by "a warrior of black and white".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shen overheard this prophecy and sought to defy it, fearing any obstacles in his plans. Assuming the "warrior of black and white" referred to a specific kind of people in China, Shen led his wolf followers in decimating a farming village, intending to leave none alive. Once the village had been put to the torch, Shen returned home, expecting praise from his parents. However, his parents were horrified at their son's actions and instead banished him from the city forever, with their throne eventually being turned over to the stewardship of Master Thundering Rhino and the Kung Fu Council. Betrayed and furious, Shen left Gongmen City with his followers filled with anger and feeling wronged by his parents, as he considered his actions as bravely defying fate to realize his goals. He swore revenge while promising he would someday return and rule supreme over all of China.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over twenty years passed. Deep in the mountains, Shen's wolves worked tirelessly to complete their master's ultimate weapon: a cannon that would bring an end to the use of kung fu. When Boss Wolf informed him that they had run out of metal to use as material, Shen ordered him to raid the outlying villages and steal all the metal they could find. While he and a group of wolves set out to do so, Shen decided that it was time to move forward with his plans.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shen is shown to have been extremely smart, ambitious, dangerous, powerful, and supremely lethal. His past forged in him the notion that he had been wronged, and that the world owed him something, and he sought to do everything in his power to take it. This included inventing a powerful weapon unlike anyone had ever seen before. Shen was intent on using this weapon to wipe out kung fu and take over China.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shen was shown to be unspeakably ruthless, as he was willing to enact a genocide of an entire tribe in order to smite any chances that one would someday defeat him, as was described in fortune-telling he overheard. Due to being raised as royalty, Shen largely preferred to let his weapons and henchmen do the hard work rather than dealing with such obstacles himself. His ambition to leave his mark on the world drove him to find a dark and lethal potential in his family's celebrated invention of fireworks, and when cast out by his parents for his massacre of people, he swore revenge and aimed to conquer all of China just to prove himself. Shen had little or no regard for the lives or well-being of others, as he blasted a bridge without hesitation, despite there being innocent bystanders on it, and was willing to sacrifice his own troops, which put him in conflict with his most trusted subordinate Boss Wolf, as he refused to kill his warriors of which, in response to this act of disobedience, Shen then struck him down without a second thought.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shen was also a perfectionist, which was shown when he took over the Tower of the Sacred Flame and fussed over the position of his cannon, saying that he envisioned the moment he would retake Gongmen City for years and that everything had to be exactly as he envisioned it, and when he was rehearsing intimidating lines for his confrontation with his destined foe (which went to waste due to Po's offhanded nature). He also demonstrated a fondness of expensive materials and luxury, as shown when he became infuriated when the Soothsayer chewed off the hem of his robes, which he claimed to be made of "the finest silk in the province".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Prideful and possibly deranged, Shen seemed to carry little to no remorse for his crimes, and would often boast of his accomplishments. He was also shown to be sadistic, as seen when confronting the Kung Fu Council, he gleefully stated that his cannon was a "parting gift" that would part them; "part of you here, part of you there, part of you way over there staining the wall!" showing he was rather bloodthirsty. He also took pleasure in telling Po that his parents didn't love him while taking advantage of the panda's pain in the process. This cruelty likely stemmed from Shen's conviction that his parents hated him, which was forged in his mind when they banished him years ago. Shen's bitterness against his parents went as far as too insulting his father's memory by throwing his throne out the window and replacing it with his cannon, even after commenting that he had fond memories of playing around it as a child.

Hello, I'm wondering if you have ideas for Master Council HCs? It can either single character, bond of a pair or three of them. Thank you!!! :
I find it hilarious how I didn't know who they were until I searched it up BAHHAHAHA I WAS LIKE "OH YEAH ITS THESE GUYS"
I'm gonna do all three cuz along the way you can drift off into a pair and just a single character lol
According to the wiki Rhino is DEAD HELLO WHAT HOW SINCE WHEN
Nvm it says that he died by one of Shen's cannons I do not remember that- but then again it's been so long since I've seen KFP 2 lol anyways
Not only did Rhino's death make Croc and Ox lose faith in kung fu it was also a really personal attack because they were really close friends beforehand
Idk what info from Secrets of the Masters is canon and not but assuming it's all canon, the entire stuff with Oogway and the Wu sisters really made them recognize each other's talents and the journey had been become really good pals
Croc and Ox honestly thought that once Shen took over they would be back doing street fighting like they did when they were younger
Because they said that kung fu was dead when Po and the others went to rescue them
I really hate how apparently Secrets of the Masters is non canon to the films
Anyways the reason Ox can figure out an enemies weakness so quickly comes from how observant he is
He's always been a very observant person I mean this dude always sneaking out to watch Master Rhino spar so.. like obviously it was for a different reasons but shhh
I feel like being a bandit has never exactly sat right with Croc despite him having been the leader of the infamous Wool Stealing Crocodile Bandits of Crocodile Island because when Rhino sparred him he was really moved by it and immediately quit his bandit ways yk
So happy his origins are unknown 😏 now I can do WHATEVER I want-
Rhino: looks like he can kill you but is actually somft
Sort of
I'm just trying to say that he may look intimidating but he's actually very nice
There's literally no way Rhino has only taught Croc and Ox he must have taught other people as well I literally cannot believe he's only taught two people
#also i saw your other request you dont need to worry about me swearing cuz i dont do cussing anymore oof#so yeah you dont need to worry about that :D!#kung fu panda#kung fu panda headcanons#kung fu panda hcs#kung fu panda hdcs#kung fu panda masters council#kung fu panda kung fu council#kung fu panda croc#kung fu panda thundering rhino#kung fu panda storming ox#kfp#kfp headcanons#kfp hcs#kfp hdcs#kfp masters council#kfp kung fu council#kfp croc#kfp thundering rhino#kfp storming ox

"I sense darkness"
I noticed a lot of stories have the villain be someone who was part of the good guys, then changed.
Some examples are:
Kung fu panda
Kingdom hearts (terra)
Star wars (anakin)
Are the ones that I think of.
So what happened is they train with the good guys, there is some sort of position they want and try to obtain. However the one in charge doesnt think they are ready. That there is "darkness in them".
The thing is, they go and do that darkness that was sensed in them. As if they are proving why they couldnt have the position. Because if that is how they act when they dont get their way when not in power, what would they do when in a position of authority? When they have a difficult choice, when they are in charge of people?
While I first though that "hey, maybe you SHOULD have given them the position to stop everything bad that was going to happen", I then thought about how when they didnt get it, they immediately went on the path to hurt and ruin others, despite their organizations being good.
This does not seem like even if they were given the position they wanted that they wouldnt do it, but with far more consequences with them being in charge/position and what damage to others.
Also for anakin, yes he was given the position on the council but only because the chancellor interfered, and he was not ready or achieved it on his own terms/merit and therefore not given title master.

Are there any other stories that go along these lines? Does this make sense? Your thoughts on this?
