Betrayal

Erase a bloodline/ability
Extinction of a Species/Race
Steal/Get something (an object? Both ships and silmarils serve in this)
Get rid off a political/national enemy or an rival.
Cannot control/is afraid of their power
Use those people as sacrifice/experiments or something similar.
A member of this group does Something Bad and there is a purge in return.
Revenge (could be misplaced? Someone of this group did something and you massacred their land/family?)
War Casualities
Its could be something more split than an actual organized group, like all bastard children, people with an certain power/ability, considered 'defectual' in some way or idk, eye colour. They could pose an threat because one of them did something.
Just Evil People dealings with their enemies or something more grey?
A tip: If there is a genocide, there is a survivor, more than one, with different goals and stories.
One of the servants of the executioner can have an friend that belong to the people he was ordered to kill and decides to hide them/help them escape.
If one person belonging to the targered group is under the custody of an certain faction, they would not take it well the (attempt?) murder or demands of handing over said person.
A extinct thing can be spared/left with survivor/restored in inconvenient ways (Elissa Farman stealing Rhaena's dragon eggs just for Daenerys to have them latter)
Ponder about the consequences there are not related to the main goal, Cersei killed a lot of people in the Sept, more than the ones she wanted dead. How this affect the story? Who else important died in there? Why there wasn't a Riot again?
