I’ve been thinking about how the sanji/kuina dynamic would work if Kuina had been able to join the strawhats too. Would she hate the twirling, would she think it endearing? How would he treat her? how would all this affect Zoro?

Her complicated relationship with gender would be such an interesting match to Sanji’s.

kuina and chishiya had this secret meeting spot only both of them knew where they sometimes talk about anything that comes out of their head which eventually ends with one of them opening up about their life before the game along with their own struggles. when chishiya went missing after the king of spades appeared, sometimes kuina would go there hoping he would be there but he never showed up.

usagi and arisu sleep together in the same tent, sometimes when arisu is sleeping he tends to have nightmares about his friends which causes him to start crying in his sleep. usagi comforts arisu as tears fall out of his eyes, apologizing to her for being a burden and he needs to be strong if he wants to protect her. usagi continues reassuring arisu telling him he was never a burden and she is already happy with him in her life. the tears stopped dropping and arisu pulled usagi for a tight hug, both of them spared no words but continued to be each others arm for the entire night.

tatta never had real friends his entire life was filled with fake people and he could never express himself with others fearing that they would look down on him, it suddenly disappeared when he started to get more closer with arisu and expressing his personality and humor more. arisu never judged him but laughed and smiled at his stupid comments and remarks, tatta never felt more happier in his entire life.

chishiya smokes a cigarette when he needs get something off his head, he often reminisces about his life wandering whether the choices he made as a doctor was partially his fault. even though his boss told him it wasn’t still it hold no purpose for chishiya because it eats him up from the inside no matter how much he tries to deny it.

ann is interested in photography she owns a digital camera and captures of what she thinks is beautiful. in a world filled with so much despair and horrible things happening she wants to be reminded theres always something good waiting behind the dark.

arisu, chota, karube as a joke had matching bracelets for their friendship anniversary. when chota and karube died in the 7 of hearts game, arisu checked on them to see if they still had theirs to his shock they still wore their bracelets he took them from their bloody bodies and carries it with him to honor their death. whenever arisu is going through a difficult time he always manages to get a bit of strength knowing a piece of his bestfriends were with him.

aguni misses takeru alot, he misses his presence and memories he had with him he wonders whether if he should have died in the beach and joined his bestfriend instead. suicide lingers a lot in the back of his head sometimes he hears his bestfriends voice tempting him to do it. the thought eventually gets to him and he sets a date where he would then heiya unexpectedly appears in his life and a part of her reminds him of takeru but he doesnt know why, but he doesnt want to repeat his mistake again and he chooses to protect heiya. she eventually grows on aguni sometimes he accidentally calls her by his deceased bestfriends name, she gets confused about it but decides not to act upon it when she sees a slight spark in his eyes when he mentions that unfamiliar name.

chishiya knows how cruel the world is towards the unfortunate he seen it himself as a doctor. he came to the terms to suppress his feelings not expressing it to anyone, it eventually leads him to lack any empathy towards anyone. no matter how much he forces himself to understand he doesnt feel anything when he sees someone on their knees begging for their life after losing a game. so why did it feel different during the jack of heart game, when he saw his partner, ippeis lifeless body? this was supposed to be normal for him to see such a horrifying sight of someones life being taken during a game. instead he feels remorseful remembering how ippei wished for all of this to end so nobody else would die in a such sincere tone. chishiya himself remembers and heard countless last words of the people he was partnered before they got killed, so why does this feel different?

lowkey hate when people call kuina zoros sister like, it always comes off as weird to me. i like the thought of her being the most important person in zoros life when he was a kid, whether it was bc she was zoros only friend or bc she was someone he could never beat. and bc she died so young he never figured out what she was to him, but also she was everything to him, important enough that he dedicated his life to their shared dream. i just feel like sometimes when ppl call her his sister theyre downplaying how important she was to him. like i love a found family sibling relationship but they always read more as shounen rivals to me rather than brother and sister.

i also think ppl call her his sister bc zoros gay so obviously zoro never saw her as anything but his sister - which is also dumb bc platonic relationships can be just as impactful.

idk, to me it feels like a copout way to describe their bond

I think we all forgot Kuina's whole character bc we all thought she was trans but on my rewatch the only reason she wanted to be born a boy was so her dad would be proud of her

She didn't want her chest because, in her eyes, it reminded her of the fact that she would grow up to be weak

CHISHIYA & KUINA

I've addressed this before that I tend to write Chishiya as somewhat of a blend between live action & manga portrayals. Not that the two are in total conflict with each other, they aren't. This reminder is just a bit more RELEVANT to remember in this post and in regards to the relationship of Chishiya & Kuina in the live action vs what we end up seeing in the manga. One point I don't see get mentioned very often though is Kuina in the live action was plenty aware of what Chishiya was doing, as opposed to the manga where she has a very HOSTILE approach to Chishiya's scheme. Or rather, she's ACCEPTING of it in the live action compared to the manga, which in a twist, does make Chishiya like her more and creates a closer bond rather than what we see in the manga. ( And of course for those who prefer writing Kuina in one portrayal or another, I'm happy to work with your portrayals! ) In the live action she simply quips that she feels bad but is pretty casual about it and is content to follow after Chishiya as he's headed to leave.

Don't get me wrong. I adore the artwork & fun stories and such of these two in fanon. But Chishiya ISN'T someone who is that attached to people. ( It's an important part of him - not just his lack of value of life, but lack of CONNECTION and understanding. ) In the manga he was just going to leave without her. Even in the live action, he was 100% willing to walk away and leave her if she wanted to go back to save Arisu from the situation that they (albeit mainly Chishiya) caused. But he does make the suggestion in the live action that she could go save Arisu if she wanted to. In some way, this is a rather NICE move on Chishiya's part. Chishiya doesn't give options to people. Or if he does it's heavily manipulated so it is more of an ILLUSION of choice than actual choice. For example, like i talked about here in this post, I genuinely think he planned to kill Arisu if Arisu disagreed to be part of Chishiya's scheme. Safety measures for him. So it's HELP or DIE. A choice, but not really a choice.

But the choice he offers Kuina is very real. He won't help her. But if she would feel better, then she can go back and help Arisu. He won't stop her, but he won't assist her either. The fact stands that HE CONSIDERS HER FEELINGS when he doesn't have anything to gain from it. Considering Chishiya's personality, it's a significant gesture from HIM even if it would be normal to other people. When she chooses to stick with him, he's a bit more willing despite her knowing more of his true colors, he's more willing to assist like the five minute craft bombs he made in season 2.

I think Chishiya is genuinely BAFFLED by Kuina's decision to stick with him. It's very OPPORTUNISTIC at first on his side. Chishiya is a manipulator, he takes fairly gullible and kind people like Arisu and Ippei and uses them to his benefit. He admits as much without shame. So if someone is sticking by him and he can use them? Why not? It benefits him. That said, he does come to value her company and in both sources he takes Kuina's assessment of Arisu into consideration. ( Enough to bother asking what she thinks of him at least. ) And in both versions, despite Kuina's hostility in the manga in the aftermath of the card theft compared to Kuina's WILLINGNESS in the live action, he's easily willing and accepting to keep her with him. He likes her company enough to value having her around with him OUTSIDE of just immediate usefulness. Although her physical strength compared to his lack thereof certainly doesn't hurt. It's not necessarily a best friends kind of care, but there's some value there to him enough that he wants to keep it around.

Maybe with time he opens up more and i'm certainly happy to explore this in threads and such! It's just that he's NOT attached at the hip, not quite as caring at it might seem or fanon makes it to be. Not without development at least. But he does value her regardless and would like to have her around if possible - but he's still going to put himself and his interests first.

Like yes I’ve been plotting to betray everyone this whole time. Yes, I have no qualms about murder. Yes, I am calculated to an almost sociopathic degree. This doesn’t mean I can’t hang out with my bestie Kuina between betraying ppl tho! We have a spa night planned and are gonna be painting each others nails!

the “evil but nice to me” trope does very little for me in a romantic sense but everything for me in a platonic sense. i love when terrible people have a soft spot for their one friend.

19. what's my character's fro-yo cup look like? what flavours and toppings?: I love fruit flavored fro-yo like strawberry, mango, passion fruit. I then like to top it off with mixed fruits like kiwi, strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, mango, etc. and fruity popping boba! And a dollop of whipped cream.

20. what's my character's ice-cream shop order look like? how many scoops? what cone? what flavours and toppings?: For ice cream, I prefer one scoop. Two is usually too much for me. Ideally, a strawberry sundae. If we're just doing a scoop on the go, then stracciatella, mint chocolate chip or lavender honey are ice cream flavors I sometimes have spontaneous cravings for. Preferably in a cup or it falls off my cone faster than I can eat it and I'm too upset/stubborn to go back and get a new one. Whipped cream topping is all I need but that's usually for my sundae. Oh, and a cherry!
