- he's a lit nerd. every lit nerd has written fanfiction at somepoint. if you're a lit nerd and you haven't, you're a liar or you will be writing fanfiction soon. be ready.

- you're a liar if you think the batfam didn't have a giant fandom in gotham city (and other cities that had batman shipped with their hero (metropolis im looking at you))

- he'd get to tear the shit out of batman with well thought out arguments against stuff without actually having to try and make bruce listen

- the authors notes.

Reasons I've considered not posting a piece of writing:

It's a weird idea

It's too personal or angsty

It might be fun but it's not my best work

People might find this idea too silly

It goes against fanon

Writing is fun - torture, but fun - but that creeping self-doubt kicks in sometimes! Sometimes it feels like I should only publish if something is Perfect. Which... isn't a bar I will ever reach.

Thankfully, that voice has gotten a lot quieter over time.

But another part of him had begun to shiver in anticipation.

They were going off, moving away from canon and the books, but Harry had never felt more immersed than in this moment.

Just tried, after many years, to reread my first fanfic ever posted on AO3.

I couldn't make it through the first paragraph without cringing. Had to give up after the second.

But it got me thinking about how far I've come as a writer in the last 10 years. Holy moley, y'all. Far.

I guess practice does really make, well, not perfect--I'm sure in 10 years I'll be reading what I'm writing today and going, what, how did I think THAT was good?-- but better. Much, much better.
