Protect Trans Kids Sweet potato pie
🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️
🏳️⚧️Pre-bake at 350 degrees your vegan premade pie crust on a glass pie tin
🏳️⚧️Wash and examine your sweet potatoes for insect holes/JK Rowling. Cut out any insect holes/bigoted 90s children's authors
🏳️⚧️Boil your sweet potatoes whole if you want to douse them with cold water and skin that way. Blend any chunks
OR
🏳️⚧️Pre-skin with a potato peeler and slice into one inch rounds and boil (they are about equal in time but one requires a blender and this one doesn't)
🏳️⚧️Add half a can of cold refrigerated coconut milk, bourbon vanilla and pumpkin pie spice, and a pinch of salt.
Not too much. You don't want your pie to be as salty as transphobes. Just enough to balance the sweetness of living your best life
🏳️⚧️ Check for lumps. Blend or mash with a fork if still lumpy
🏳️⚧️Add vegan alphabet cookies to spell out PROTECT TRANS KIDS.
We have always existed in every culture. Intersexed people are as common as red hair and stating this with your pie is sure to start that family fight you've been staring down since you came out as Vegan
🏳️⚧️Bake at 350 with foil over top
ENJOY 😊

The vase is based off my stoma scars and is glazed in a yellow glaze called "butter" on the outside with Oregon red slip on the stomas. This was a discarded green ware I carved into to mimic the exact pattern of my scars.
I have had more than 5 surgeries to remove 4 tumors and do a tracheostomy, port insert surgery, emergency port removal total largectomy, and surgery for surgery complications.
The outside butter represents the "yellow" of my skin and how I have endured medical racism because I'm Asian American Disapora. And the violence I've endured as an Asian American Disapora from housing discrimination that caused this.
The inside of the vase is glazed with "floating blue" glaze to specifically talk about the grief that bubbles up inside me and peeks through.
This piece is about moving the rage and grief I feel about the pesticide exposure that caused my breathing issues and anaphalatic shock and the need of a breathing stoma, into art and out of my body.

I grew the boobs and sunflower myself. I don't wear a bra anymore since 2020 COVID showed me it was fucking pointless.
I did this interpretation because I think it was incredible to see on live TV for her to win American Idol.

I never thought nostalgia would land me thinking about going to college in 2008 and the Kappa Sigma semi formal. I'm in the black dress and heels

So I'm also a ceramist but I haven't thrown on a wheel or worked in clay for almost 20 years now. This incredible studio @saltandstone in Seattle is letting me do an arts project. I'm building hand muscle back as I'm getting back into it so here is some hand building work of mine.
Those are Braille Scrabble tiles and a hashi holder ie a chopstick rest that is a seagull with a bagel in his mouth

I'm posting my art process photos partly to preserve them if I change my mind about stuff or my computer or phone crashes/etc. But also because I think it's important that people see that even concept art is art. This is my concept art for my bowls I'm making
