Best Legendary Pokémon Tournament- Round 2: Match 18
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This matchup is just baby let's be real. Both of these two are their beginning stages of the rarely seen Legendary evolution line, and yet they'll be fighting their hardest for your hearts! Kubfu may struggle having only debuted in DLC, but this isn't a done deal for Comsog! At least we can all agree on one thing- where's that bag when you need it?

I might make more Pokemon memes like this, I might not. All I know is that Falinks has my heart surrounded in a six-pronged ambush, and Grapploct isn't far behind it.

i love knowing pokemon lore but just like choosing to ignore it half the time, especially regarding legendaries and mythicals.
type: null? the creature literally designed to hunt and kill interdimensional beasts? that’s just a little doggy.
urshifu? that martial arts master with two diverse, powerful styles? big ol’ teddy bear. we also never did figure out what “distant region” kubfu was from btw.
calyrex? the literal god of nature/farmland revered to a level of having his own temple? that’s just a funky rabbit guy with horsies (and glastrier and spectrier, the deceased and revived mounts in service to this minor god are just that: just horsies), but that one i can blame on his questline.
ogerpon? the ogre that single-handedly killed three brainwashed creatures and was the feared subject of a local legend? silly little girl. like. that’s an actual child.
terapagos? the thing that can turn into an eldritch horror and completely uproot the elemental type system all pokemon are centered around on a whim and can manipulate time and space and with the player causes a paradox that makes us technically responsible for the death of one of our companion’s parents who is then replaced by an AI made in their image and almost cause the absolute destruction of paldea’s ecosystem? i nicknamed mine “scrunkly”.

Ooh, how heroic-looking! It’s a Kubfu/Espurr/Pidgey hybrid, and if you squint you can see it’s shiny. A gift to you~

Best Legendary Pokémon Tournament- Round 1: Match 8
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it a match up of some lil guys? I think so.
Both from recent Generations, but with totally different demeanours, totally different types- and yet both DLC Legendaries! You've just gotta choose.

Would A Kubfu Be A Good Pet?
Tumblr media
For our next Indigo Disk Week post, let’s cover kubfu! A kubfu would be a good pet… I think? There isn’t a wealth of data about this species, but from what I can tell, they’d certainly be manageable.
Kubfus are short little critters, standing only two feet tall, so space isn’t likely to be too much of an issue for them unless you live in a really small space. Keep in mind that this species is incredibly active, so keeping one would most likely necessitate an active lifestyle. Think about it this way: kubfus are kind of like the pokémon equivalent of a child who’s really into martial arts. They’re going to want to train constantly (Sword), so taking them on excursions outdoors to run around and providing them with a safe place to practice their moves would be a must.
Thankfully, while they do love fighting, kubfus don’t appear to be violent towards humans. In fact, in the past, they lived alongside human travelers and protected them on their journeys, so they clearly have an affinity for humans. There’s a reason the residents of Galar’s Master Dojo refer to them as “secret armor”: they clearly have a protective instinct. If, for whatever reason, a kubfu does decide to attack, you will be given a pretty clear indicator of when to be prepared: kubfu’s prepare for battle by tugging on the long white hair on the back of their heads to heighten their battle spirit and boost their power (Shield).
Would a kubfu be dangerous if they did attack you? Perhaps surprisingly, not really! Again, think about them as the equivalent of a kid who loves martial arts. Unless they are taught more concerning techniques, kubfus only really use punches and kicks to attack. It’ll hurt, sure. Sometimes really badly. But it would be a little silly to label kubfus as a particularly dangerous or lethal species.
Kubfus are a species of pokémon with a very active lifestyle and an affinity with living alongside humans. So long as you give your kubfu the active outlets they need, they should be a manageable pet. Who knows, the metaphor I used earlier may even come in handy: a kubfu might love a kids’ martial arts class!
