me and katie had been together since i moved to london, we met at a bar and exchanged numbers (as all good love stories go).

"ready for me to crush you today?”

“hell yea." katie grinned as she rounded the corner of our shared apartment.

it was only after we had gone on a few dates and gotten to know each other that we figured out that we both played football. katie had been so excited until i told her that i had just signed for chelsea

"you could never beat me, mccabe." the irish woman was a gunner, through and through. it was our inside joke, me with chelsea and katie with arsenal. "how dare you, i'll show you." katie advanced towards me and i giggled as she tackled me onto the bed. "katie-"

she knew very well that i was ticklish and used it to her advantage. "katie, stop, we have to get you to training." i was still laughing from her hands on my sides, even after she stopped. i was dressed in my chelsea training kit, bag packed by the door.

"katie you're not even dressed!" once i stood up properly i realised that she hadn't even changed from her pyjamas. she just grinned at me, unmoving, her eyes following my movements. "you're so hot when you get mad." i smirked at katie's horniness, for lack of better term.

i walked over to her and put my arms around her neck, our lips are almost touching. her arms immediately went to my waist, pulling me impossibly closer. i moved my head to the side and started peppering kisses down the side of her neck to just below her ear.

katie tilted her head to the side to give me more access. i pulled away then and whispered, "and you're hot when you do what i say." before leaving her embrace and dancing away before she could get me. the look on her face was priceless, she was shocked and turned on at the same time.

"you can't do that." she tried to reason while making an attempt to trap me in her arms again. i ran off to the closet and picked out her training gear before exiting again.

"you can have me back when you get dressed." i tossed the clothes at her and laughed when katie pouted. she got dressed then, and we grabbed our kit bags then headed out to the car. i usually drop her off at training before a game then head back to where i need to go before the game. in this case, the chelsea training facility.

it wasn't that far from our apartment and her teammates always met us out the front. i pulled in and there was cait, steph, vivianne and leah waiting out the front. "sorry she's late, we got caught up." i yelled out to them with a wink. they all laughed and katie went a dark shade of pink.

"pick you up after the game." we gave each other a quick peck goodbye, then i pulled out and went to chelsea.

i was in the chelsea changing rooms with the team, standing next to sam and guro. magda was giving us all a pep talk, or at least trying to. the girls were ready for the game but they were nervous and you could tell. arsenal had always been our biggest competitor in the super league, save for barça in the champions league.

when she finished her captains speech, emma jumped in and hyped us all up, saying how good we were and that we got this. i was pumped and so ready to run out on that field.

we went to line up in the tunnel, this was always my favourite bit in games, especially against arsenal. i was alongside katie in the tunnel, just like i knew i would be. we grinned at each other and she reached out to hold my hand for a second before we walked out.

it was half time, and we were up 2-1 to arsenal. sam had scored the first goal, stealing it back when maanum missed a shot on goal. she had raced it up the field and somehow got past katie before slamming it in the net. i high-fived her before checking on katie.

then katie had evened the score with a kick from the corner that had miraculously bounced into the back of our net. i wasn't happy about the score but i was ecstatic for my girlfriend. she streamed down the field and stood in front of the arsenal crowd, who were going ballistic.

after her team had had their moment with her and we reset play, i sent her a wink and she grinned back at me. it was chelsea's ball then and guro had gotten it close to arsenal's goal, before magda kicked it over our heads and i jumped up for a header which sent the ball into the net. our fans went wild and both sam and guro ran over to me, guro jumping on my back.

now we were in the second half and arsenal were desperate to even the score. emma had subbed lauren james onto the field then and play started. lj was immediately on the ball and she ran it up the field, but then came katie. she was shoulder to shoulder with lauren and swiping her feet in with lauren's to get the ball.

her cleats must've scraped lauren's leg because she went down and clutched her leg, the ball rolling away slowly. i jogged over, seeing the ref talking with katie. i knew my girlfriend had set the record of 7 yellow cards in a season and i was anticipating another one. i had stood myself behind katie, close enough so i could hold her hand, but discreetly.

just as i thought, the ref held up a yellow card and wrote her name on it. katie walked away, turning into me. i walked a few steps with her, leaning in to whisper, "that's hot." before i jogged back to my position. lauren was deemed okay by the medics and she jogged over to where she had to be. play continued, but arsenal couldn't manage another goal. the final whistle was blown and the score stayed unchanged. 1-2 for chelsea.

i hugged my team, especially sam and guro, but my focus stayed on katie. i knew how much matches like this meant to her. she would be gutted but she would still find it in her to congratulate me, and that's what i loved about her. i walked over to where the arsenal team was.

most of them were hugging or sitting down but i found katie just lying on the grass. i went to her and lay down next to her. she turned to me with a smile. "i'm so proud of you."

i smiled back at her. "thank you katie. although i do think your new name should be katie mccard, with all those yellow cards you're collecting." she broke out into laughter and i was happy i could still make her laugh even after a loss.

rox lost 2-3 in what many call the greatest bo5 to have ever been played. shortly following worlds 2016, the entire team went their separate ways, with smeb leaving for the kt superteam, kuro heading for afreeca freecs, and the ever-together pray-gorilla botlane making their way to longzhu. peanut, their young star jungler, would go on to join skt t1, the very team that ended their worlds run.

Happy Birthday, Deacon Blue henchman Ricky Ross.

Born Richard Alexander Ross on December 22nd 1957 in Dundee he attended the High School of Dundee, an independent school in the City.

Ricky played keyboards in various local bands before releasing an album, So Long Ago, through indie label Sticky Records in 1984. Advised to put a band together by his publishers, he formed the six-piece Deacon Blue a year later, which went on to score two number one albums, When the World Knows Your Name and Our Town: The Greatest Hits, and 17 Top 40 singles before disbanding in 1994.

After signing a solo deal with Epic and released his second solo album What You Are, and achieved a minor hit with lead single “Radio On,” but due to poor sales, he was dropped and his 1997 follow-up, New Recording, was distributed through his own label. Two more solo albums followed: This Is the Life (2002) and Pale Rider (2005), but after signing a publishing deal with Warner Chappell in 1999, Ross focused most of his attention on writing for other artists. He penned hits for James Blunt and Jamie Cullum, and contributed to albums by Will Young, KT Tunstall, and Emma Bunton while at the same time making sporadic appearances with a re-formed Deacon Blue.

In 2007, Ross became a regular DJ for BBC Radio Scotland with his Americana-based Another Country show, and teamed up with wife Lorraine to form Ross McIntosh, who released an alt-country album, The Great Lakes, through Cooking Vinyl in 2009. He released the solo album Trouble Came Looking in 2013, and toured the record acoustically.

For his seventh album, Ross recorded Short Stories, Vol. 1 in just two days in Hamburg. The record featured re-recorded Deacon Blue tracks as well as original solo pieces.

Deacon Blue’s ninth studio album City of Love was released on 6th March 2020. In February 2021, they released their tenth album entitled Riding on the Tide of Love to commercial success in both the UK and their native Scotland. As of 2020, Deacon Blue's total album sales stood at seven million, with twelve UK top 40 singles, along with two number one albums in both the UK and Scotland.

The band kick off a tour on March 7th 2025 in Dunfermline, the The Usher Hall, Edinburgh on the 30th, before heading to England, Wales and Ireland before finishing offat the Hydro in Glasgow in October.

There's that character chart that goes around stating that Bakura was rated by KT as "crazy," moreso than even characters like Yami Bakura and Pegasus, but iirc (and someone can correct me if wrong) the word on that original chart in Japanese was not literally "crazy." It was denpa, which literally means "electromagnetic wave" but is a term used to describe people who believe delusions, conspiracy theories, the paranormal, or are otherwise disconnected from reality and the people around them. Which I guess you can translate as "Crazy" but imo those are very specific and important connotations!

That chart is not generically calling Bakura "crazy" (which is a weird thing to have on a chart at all, but let's put ableism aside for a moment). It is stating that Ryou Bakura is far more actively disconnected from reality than Yami Bakura, Pegasus, Kaiba, or anyone else. Those characters might kill or endanger people, but they know what they're doing and have a firm grasp of what's real and what isn't. Bakura, per this chart, even though his behavior is far less extreme, does not.

Which is just like...true. Yeah. He writes letters to dead people and expects them to answer. "Disconnected from reality" is one of Bakura's major character traits. Nothing about that 5/ score is shocking.

This was the song Eret, Son Of Eret was listening to when he first saw me in the movie theater. We met the day How To Train Your Dragon 2 came out in theaters - June 13, 2014. The moment "Where No One Goes" started playing at the beginning of the movie, Eret watched me. He watched me laugh, gasp, enjoy, and sob at this movie that would forever change my life - in more ways than one!

2. A song that reminds us of each other is:

We have flaws, Eret and I can both admit that. Sure, people may see Eret as a himbo, someone with brawn but no brains, but, to me, he's so different from people's perceptions of him. I'm biased, I know. But Eret is so gentle, so kind, so loving, so smart, so...amazing. I love him for who he is, and I know he'd say the same about me.

3. A song that represents when we're dreaming of each other:

Eret and I have dreamed about each other so many times, but I still remember the first time I ever dreamed about him. I was sitting in a theater, much like the one where we met, and I was watching something on a screen, and I think his sister Amalie was on the screen.

That was the first dream I ever remember having about him...or even just someone related to him.

As for his dreams about me, the first time he dreamed about me was the night after we met. I was home, still with Hiccup, who'd just lost his dad and became chief of Berk. Eret dreamed that he and I were together. No kids, just dating for that moment, but he's describing that dream to me as "pure bliss" (Eret's words, not mine).

The cover by the Piano Guys was the very first song our wedding guests heard after they were sitting on June 18, 2015. It was such a perfect day, even if I had spent the entire Thursday inside my parents' house. Anyway, I had gotten up early, gotten ready, and Eret and I got married. It was the happiest day of our lives that we'll be sure to talk about soon!

5. A song that represents our mutual struggle in life:

Eret and I both have been through so much, together and apart. He was with me the night my grandma died, Eret knowing how close she and I were. Eret lost his younger sister Amalie to suicide back in 2022, just 2 days before her 28th birthday. Then his dad, Eret, Sr., died of a broken heart. His mom, Ruby, is still living, thank the gods, and she's thriving. We've since moved to Wolfsbane so Eret could take his position as chieftain, since Eret, Sr. was chief before him.

And you wanna know something crazy? Eret's ancestors and Drago's had a treaty. A peace treaty, in fact. As long as no one on either side stepped out of line, there would be peace between the two tribes.

But Drago broke the treaty after his parents, wife, and children were taken from him by another tribe. He fully blamed Wolfsbane, and Eret was only 15 at the time, the same age Hiccup was when he befriended Toothless. Eret sacrificed himself for his father, taking his place when Drago came to capture Eret, Sr. to enslave him. Eret only knew that he needed to protect his family, his future, for the moment, be damned.

Over the course of ten years, Eret was whipped, beaten, bruised, cut, and even branded by Drago Bludvist himself.

Then Hiccup and Astrid came to their fort. And if you've seen How To Train Your Dragon 2, you know what happens next.

I'll never forget where I was when Eret told me about her: a Hallmark store. Before Eret had sacrificed himself to save his family, he had been engaged to Jasmine. It wasn't really an arranged marriage, but it was an arranged marriage, if that makes any sense. Eret's father, the council on Wolfsbane, they wanted to assure that the line of Nordisks would continue, with someone that Eret had pretty much known his entire life.

And then I came into the picture.

Everything changed the day Eret and I met. He was there in the food court next to the movie theater, comforting me, his hand on my knee while I processed Stoick's death.

I'd gotten an anonymous ask on Tumblr, telling me "Toothless kills Stoick". I'd written it off as a rumor, not wanting to believe it.

But, as any HTTYD fan would know, it was not just a rumor. It was true.

Eret is not a violent person. Far from it. He'll do anything to protect me, and himself, and anyone he cares about. If he does get into a physical fight, he knows that fighting will only get him so far, so he tries to talk his way out of things, and that usually works.

🗣 NY Liberty are the MF Champs!!! 💍🏆

The kid in me who waited for this moment in 1997 when she was 9. This feeling is surreal, indescribable. But now I know what it feels like. Elated beyond words. NY is a basketball city. The mecca of streetball. We take this shit serious. But always seem to fall short or far from reach of winning the big chip. In the midst of that, we never give up on our teams. Y'all know our phrase: "It's iight! Knicks got it next year!" Same with the Liberty.

I watched this team tip-off for the first ever WNBA game against the Sparks 8 days after Jordan and the Bulls took home more rings. The year prior was the '96 Olympics win for USA women and their episode on Martin. This was must-watch tv. Eyes fucking glued to the screen. I just knew my short ass would play in this league one day lol. For Spoon, Lobo, Kym, Sophia, VJ, Trena, Kisha, Sue, Blades, Crys, and Cass to set the foundation here.

The Liberty garnered fans from the 5 boroughs. Played with heart. The Garden went from being packed to damn near empty during those rough seasons years later. I vividly remember being at the first (and last 🙃) outdoor WNBA game at Arthur Ashe. I was fucking hot from the heat and that score. (At least win that one.) A decade later, the new front office direction and big move to Barclays came. For Joe Tsai, Sandy, these players, Ellie 😏, and entire organization to make the adjustments needed in their respective areas to seal this victory for this state. Baybee. This shit is a Cinderella dream come true.

The definition of a team sport. Passion, trust, grit, mental agility, and teamwork. Fatigue got them best of the Liberty (mostly) and the Lynx. Stewie and Sabrina led them as far as they could. Running on fumes. Benijah owned game 2. That knee is blessed. Fiebich is a defense machine always looking to pick your pocket and make the best scoring decision. (To be drafted by the Sparks then traded to Chicago but neither team contacted her so NY made the home call. Come to BK, love.)

Sabally and KT are energy boosters and magnets making great decisions defensively and offensively who can change the trajectory of a game with their aura. (Sabally like Betnijah dealt with injuries this year.) Jonquel changes the trajectory of a game with her presence, when she locks in on keeping the ball high, and them sexy 3s 😮‍💨. Sloot had a solid season in the beginning before her mom passed. Her return on the night of the Commissioner's Cup still makes me sad because I know the team really wanted to win that game for her.

Lynx took the cup, but the Liberty 🗽 took them MF rings. It's funny cuz I'm a Lynx fan (they played their heart out) and love a lot of players from other teams, just not when they're playing the Liberty. Same with the Aces. Love 'em. But home team love first, baby. Some of our former players showed up tonight for this championship ☺️. I ain't even gon hold you. I wanted to see Becky there 🙃. Just a pop up lol. I'll forever love this game and this league.

oh there’s so many things i could say about him. his smile, his laugh. the way he coped so beautifully with being in the spotlight way younger than a person should be. the way he loves arsenal and the way he captains us. his taste in music and films (the intouchables is the best french film ever made). the way he plays when he’s having a good day. the way he sounds absolutely insane sometimes when talking about his training routines and has to reassure the interviewer that he’s alright when they get concerned 😭😭 also the way he interacts with his teammates definitely it seems like they get a completely different version of him than what we see lmao

there’s really not a lot lol but probably his media training. lord, the day he lets himself speak his mind is the day i die happy.

not sure how unpopular this is but he was/is put on a pedestal wayyy too much. it feels like a decent match for him is an excellent one for any else, and a ‘shit’ performance by him is a decent one by anyone else. i get so irritated whenever i see him be criticised for not creating when he scores, and then when he creates chances he gets criticised for not scoring :,)

as a person though, i feel like people make him out to be much more calm and sweet than he actually is lol. less so nowadays but he's definitely an emotional person? but more angry and passionate emotional than sad emotional ygm?
