Well since you asked so nicely <33
This is the dress, with the belt/pouch (which I made with the machine (actually my mam helped with the belt, leather was kickin my ass lmao)), and the hood part of the cape (which I also made, but for some reason decided to hand stitch the whole thing 🙄);

There's also the necklace which you can kinda see (the pendant was a gift from a friend, with the rune eihwaz on it, and I made it up into a necklace). And there's also the leather arm brace which you can't see bc of the sleeve.
Hopefully this is one of may more outfits to come <33

For @jackironsides Kryal Castle in Victoria has a mediaval festival in November, I think. I’m hoping to go sometime!
it's funny although a little exasperating how artists designing "princess" or medieval-esque gowns really do not understand how those types of clothes are constructed. We're all so used to modern day garments that are like... all sewn together in one layer of cloth, nobody seems to realize all of the bits and pieces were actually attached in layers.
So like look at this mid-1400's fit:
to get the effect of that orange gown, you've got
chemise next to the skin like a slip (not visible here) (sometimes you let a bit of this show at the neckline) (the point is not to sweat into your nice clothes and ruin them)
kirtle, or undergown. (your basic dress, acceptable to be seen by other people) this is the puffing bits visible at the elbow, cleavage, and slashed sleeve. It's a whole ass dress in there. Square neckline usually. In the left picture it's probably the mustard yellow layer on the standing figure.
coat, or gown. This is the orange diamond pattern part. It's also the bit of darker color visible in the V of the neckline.
surcoat, or sleeveless overgown. THIS is the yellow tapestry print. In the left picture it's the long printed blue dress on the standing figure
if you want to get really fancy you can add basically a kerchief or netting over the bare neck/shoulders. It can be tucked into the neckline or it can sit on top. That's called a partlet.
the best I can tell you is that they were technically in a mini-ice-age during this era. Still looks hot as balls though.
Coats and surcoats are really more for rich people though, normal folks will be wearing this look:
tbh I have a trapeze dress from target that looks exactly like that pale blue one. ye olden t-shirt dress.
so now look here:
(this is a princess btw) both pieces are made of the same blue material so it looks as if it's all one dress, but it's not. The sleeves you're seeing are part of the gown/coat, and the ermine fur lined section on top is a sideless overgown/surcoat. You can tell she's rich as fuck because she's got MORE of that fur on the inside of the surcoat hem.
okay so now look at these guys.
Left image (that's Mary Magdelene by the way) you can see the white bottom layer peeking out at the neckline. That's a white chemise (you know, underwear). The black cloth you see behind her chest lacing is a triangular panel pinned there to Look Cool tm. We can call that bit the stomacher. Over the white underwear is the kirtle (undergown) in red patterned velvet, and over the kirtle is a gown in black. Right image is the same basic idea--you can see the base kirtle layer with a red gown laced over it. She may or may not have a stomacher behind her lacing, but I'm guessing not.
I've kind of lost the plot now and I'm just showing you images, sorry. IN CONCLUSION:
you can tell she's a queen because she's got bits I don't even know the NAMES of in this thing. Is that white bit a vest? Is she wearing a vest OVER her sideless surcoat? Girl you do not need this many layers!

Actually the amount of times I've said "yeah let's" to random fellas on the road when I was young(er) and stupid(er) I can see why mum was so scared I'd get Wolf Creeked.
Second scariest movie she's ever seen she told me. First is Duel. She and her brothers and sister would hop in a car every weekend when they were young and independant and drive from Melbourne to Stawell, drinking and talking the whole way. It was the 70s. Still.
It's a gorgeous drive if you ever want to take it. She took me along when I was too young to appreciate it. Highways had moved by then so she pulled out a Melways and tried her best to take the same roads she used to. That afternoon sun over the Grampians.... Should ask her to go one more time before the last - that's where she wants some of her ashes spread. Can't blame her. I would too.
Sometimes before I lost my mind I'd take a Vline into Melbourne and hop on the first train that came through without tapping out at Southern Cross. Before then I'd commute into the city for work (Dropout work, nothing serious), bring along a book or a laptop or a 3DS for the boredom. But a window seat on a Vline Train means 60 minutes of the most beautiful country you've ever seen on a 90 minute ride. Every time it was the same landscape, but the light, or the season, or the clouds or just my fuckin mood was different enough to change the whole thing. Never finished a chapter on those train rides.
Especially liked the trip to Ballan. Great Plains and rolling hills, huts on plunging cliffs, ravines and gullies and dams and lakes God it's a beautiful ride. Go past Ballan and you'll see Kryal Castle, which always took me out of it. What kind of freak makes a castle in BALLARAT? okay quick wiki wander yeah that's. That's a freak. Think someone I went to school with works there as a knight? Puts on fights and stuff? Could be fun.

Ask meme: 6, 9, 16, 30 & 50 😊😊😊😊
6. What are you excited for?
Oh, we're starting with the hard questions right out of the gate, are we? Hmmm... I am excited for summer. I guess. I do so much better in the warmer weather than the cold. The last two days were beautiful and I got to break out some cute summer dresses. I love it. I really cannot wait for the real long lasting heat to begin.
I want to say I'm excited for Christmas, but... I guess I am kinda neutral about it? Like, it's a good thing, but the stress, omg. I *do* have a brand new cute christmas dress though, it's very swirly. It *is* a bit more low cut and thin strappy than I had planned for, so I am going to have to invest in a strapless bra sometime soon.
9. Is confidence cute?
Omg. Confidence is hella sexy.
Although, there is a difference between confidence and arrogance and arrogance is defintiely not.
16. Do you think you’ll change in the next 3 months?
I mean, I don't *expect* to change that drastically in the next three months, but how can anyone ever be sure? I am noticably different now than I was 12 months ago and people have remarked to me recently that I look very well. Which... I haven't noticed?
But, I have recently completed a round of dentistry which has greatly improved my confidence, so that's always a bonus and has to effect how I am coming across.
I, personally, don't expect to change. My life is stable, my job is stable, my kids are honestly (although sometimes frustrating, bc teenage boys, omg) the light of my life... I don't really see any of that changing. I'm returning into fandom activity after several years of nothing, which feels good, and I don't see that changing.
30. Does everyone deserve a second chance?
You really come out swinging, don't you?
I want to say yes. I want to say that people grow and can change and they deserve the chance to do that. And in most circumstances, I would definitely say yes.
But there are some things that are unforgivable and some people do not deserve to be in society.
I am a pretty forgiving and tolerant person. It takes a lot to upset me to begin with and I will usually get over it when I do. That said, my patience only goes so far. There is a line and once it is crossed, I will cut you out so badly it's not even funny.
(For instance: I have forgiven and remain friends with my ex-husband, the man who cheated on me when I was in the hospital trying not the die while giving birth to my youngest child, so I can forgive almost anything if you try to make up for it... but I have a sister that I was very close to growing up that I refuse to speak to, I won't go to her house, and give her only the briefest of cursory responses when I am forced to be in the same room with at famly functions, because she has crossed the line too many times and has reached into irredeemable territory).
I guess, second chance, yes, but when you start getting into third/fourth/fifth chances then obviously some people aren't going to change. They're set and that's who they are. You know the saying, when people show you who they are: believe them.
50. Ever used a bow and arrow?
Used a bow and arrow? Yes.
Mastered and/or been good at a bow and arrow? No.
I have been on school camps where archery was a thing and I liked it. I have been to a few places where archery is a thing as an adult and I've tried again there (like adventure parks, or Kryal Castle).
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be doing that again, my shoulder has a tendency to weakness and I can't push it. And shoulders are very necessary when pulling back that string. The tension and strength to hold and focus it, I just don't have that anymore.
But, yes, I have done it before.
@rowark, you picked some interesting questions. Yikes. Thanks for playing!!!

It's unfortunate that I don't possess the ability to teleport to far-off places or have an unlimited amount of money to indulge in all the fantastic unicorn-related activities that occur worldwide. Regrettably, attending an event in Australia isn't possible for me, but it does appear to be quite enjoyable.
The upcoming Unicorn Festival 2023 appears to be an entertaining affair, with the opportunity to dress up, participate in maypole dancing, listen to shadow puppet stories, and engage with unicorns! The photographs from prior Unicorn Festivals depict an incredible event, with stunning venue decorations, themed food, and a variety of activities that evoke envy within me.

Photo

Throwback to the time I went to Kryal Castle and nobody in my class was as into as I was. Yes I had a camera and was wearing the warmest things I owned but had I had time and money I would’ve made an outfit. And I went around taking photos because it was all so amazing and I wanted references later.
And my favorite part, a guy had finished jousting and he and his sparring partner sat atop their horses and answered questions about jousting. I went up when it was my turn and said “Excuse me sir knight, may I take a portrait of you and your fine steed?” And the looks on my classmates faces, they were like “the fuck is this kid on, this kid who never talks in class, wtf” BUT THIS DUDE he sat up straight and told me “Why of course child, I’m never one to turn away a potential squire” and I fucking enjoyed every moment. I loved it. I also may have gotten an aesthetic crush on sir archer. He was damn fine though.
After finding the photos (above) I realise he wasn’t jousting, he was the one with the sword. He still was very nice. Very pretty horse too, very friendly.
