A/N: I came out of my GRAVE for this one. I'm not gonna lie i stopped being a kpop fan ever since got7 left jyp but now that they are back, it only felt right for me to come back aswell (for a moment at least) so uhm enjoy whatever this is. Idk if yall saw that one video of him with that dancer but it's based of that

The dim lights cast a glow across the stage as the bass of the music reverberated through the crowd. Yugyeom's presence commanded every eye, his movements fluid yet powerful. But none of them knew the truth behind the passion in his steps or the fire in his eyes. Only you did.

You were his partner tonight, both on the stage and in the shadows. The world thought your chemistry was born of professionalism, two artists feeding off the energy of a shared performance. But beneath the surface, every glance, every touch, every moment was loaded with a truth only the two of you shared.

Then the moment came. The choreography demanded intimacy, but your connection turned it into something electric. His hands found your waist, gripping just tightly enough to send a shiver down your spine, a silent reminder of how well he knew your body. You arched into him, the heat between you igniting as the rhythm dictated your movements.

His lips were so close to your ear that you could feel the warmth of his breath, and though his expression remained composed for the crowd, you saw the flicker of desire in his dark eyes as they met yours. “Focus,” he murmured, voice low enough for only you to hear.

A smirk tugged at the corner of your lips. It wasn’t like you could focus on anything but him.

The routine continued, every spin, dip, and step pulling you closer to the edge of losing control. When the lights dimmed for the next transition, his hand lingered on your hip just a fraction too long. The crowd wouldn't notice, but you did.

As the performance ended, the cheers were deafening. The two of you walked off stage, still playing the roles of colleagues and co-performers. But as soon as the dressing room door clicked shut, Yugyeom spun you around, pressing you against the wall with the same intensity he showed on stage.

“You’re driving me crazy,” he breathed, his forehead resting against yours. His hands, warm and familiar, settled on your waist again.

“And you’re the one pushing the limits,” you whispered back, teasing him as you traced the edge of his jaw with your fingertips.

The tension was heavy between you. His resolve snapped, and his lips crashed onto yours in a kiss that was desperate, heated, and all-consuming. You melted into him, your hands tangling in his hair as his body pressed tightly against yours.

A muffled groan escaped him as his hips shifted against you, and you felt him harden against your stomach. The sound sent a jolt through you, your own desire rising as his hands gripped you tighter.

His lips parted, and you swallowed his moan as the kiss deepened. Every feeling, every stolen glance, and every unspoken word came pouring out in that moment, leaving you both breathless.

When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against yours once more, his breathing ragged. “We’re supposed to be careful,” he murmured, his voice rough but laced with longing.

You smiled, brushing your lips lightly against his again. “Careful is boring.”

Yugyeom’s dark eyes bore into yours, his gaze filled with something primal, something that made your knees weak. He glanced toward the door one last time, ensuring no one was around before his hands slid down to the waistband of his pants.

“Yugyeom…” you whispered, your voice a mix of excitement and nervousness.

He leaned in, brushing his lips along the shell of your ear. “Be quiet for me, baby,” he murmured, his voice low and smooth, sending a delicious shiver down your spine.

Before you could respond, he spun you around, pressing your front gently but firmly against the wall. His hands roamed over your waist, pulling your body closer to his as he pressed a trail of soft, lingering kisses along the curve of your neck. Each touch, each kiss, ignited a fire deep within you, the thrill of being so exposed adding to the intensity.

He unbuttoned his pants, the sound of the zipper cutting through the quiet room. You felt his hands slide to your hips, tugging at the waistband of your pants and pulling them down just enough. The cool air hit your skin, heightening every sensation as his hands steadied you.

His lips found the sensitive spot behind your ear, his breath warm and intoxicating. “You’re perfect,” he whispered, his voice rough with desire sending a spark trough your whole body.

You bit your lip to stifle a moan as he inserted himself in you, his movements slow and deliberate, savoring every moment. His hands held you firmly, his touch both grounding and electrifying as he pulled you further onto him. “You feel so good,” he groaned softly, his lips brushing against your ear.

The intimacy of the moment consumed you both, your breaths mingling, your bodies moving together in perfect rhythm.

But just as the tension reached its peak, a loud knock at the door shattered the spell.

“Yugyeom! You in there?”

It was Bambam.

Panic flashed across Yugyeom’s face as he quickly stepped back, his hands fumbling to fix his pants. “Shit,” he muttered under his breath, his movements hurried but quiet.

You scrambled to pull up your pants, your cheeks flushed and heart racing as the door creaked open before Yugyeom could say a word.

Bambam strolled in, his usual mischievous grin on his face. He stopped mid-step, his eyes flickering between the two of you. Yugyeom’s flushed face and your disheveled appearance were impossible to miss.

For a moment, there was silence. Then Bambam’s grin widened, and he let out a loud, amused laugh.

“Oh my God,” he said, doubling over as his laughter filled the room. “Are you serious? Here?”

Yugyeom glared at him, his face red with both embarrassment and frustration. “Could you not knock and wait for me to answer?” he snapped, his voice sharp but still carrying an edge of mortification.

Bambam smirked, crossing his arms as he leaned casually against the doorframe. “If I knew I was interrupting this, I would’ve waited. But honestly, this is gold.”

You buried your face in your hands, torn between wanting to disappear and wanting to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Yugyeom stepped in front of you protectively, his glare unwavering. “Get out, Bambam.”

Still chuckling, Bambam held up his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright, I’m leaving. But seriously, next time, maybe lock the door or something.”

With that, he turned and sauntered out, leaving the door slightly ajar as his laughter echoed down the hallway.

Yugyeom sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair before turning to you. “I’m going to kill him,” he muttered, though the corners of his lips twitched as if he was fighting back a smile.

You couldn’t help but laugh, the tension broken as you leaned into him. “That was… something.”

He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close. “Next time, we’re locking the door.”

Spoiler Blather Ahead So Be Warned! I personally feel the tragedy would lowkey strip a part of Makoto's identity/make him grow out of this part of himself faster than he would if the tragedy didn't happen. Basically, Makoto mentions how he's a trend follower. His interests are dictated by what's popular. However, with the tragedy, he would be physically incapable of being in tune with the times. As the Ultimate Hope, Makoto would be quite busy. Sure, maybe he could keep up with a few things going on in the world, but he's already far behind by the time he becomes the Ultimate Hope. All of the survivors are. Due to their memories being wiped, they dunno until they are basically face to face with the Mastermind that a year has already passed and they have forgotten that part of their lives. So, they're all be out of the loop both in the state of the world AND whatever hip thing's popular. Furthermore, as time progresses, they all will be busy, having minimal time to keep up with the kids! They got work to do. Not to say that all of them would be out of touch millennials. For Byakuya, I feel he would be very in tuned with the stocks and the state of both Japan and the world. He would already have no interest in the trends of the common people. Not saying he wouldn't learn some stuff from the others but he'd just be that guy that the others would have to explain this new commoner stuff too. There's Kyoko who doesn't care for trends either though being more in the loop than Byakuya. Since she's a detective, being informed of current events would be helpful. Say there was a new app on phones that was shrouded in controversy. By knowing of it's existence, it'd be an aid for any potential cases with it. Kyoko's got good foresight and all. She would by no means be an expert with the trends of course, she too being busy with other tasks, but she'd at least know some info. Meanwhile, I feel Aoi would be in tuned with some stuff but not all. I can see her really being in tuned with swimming related stuff, it being her Ultimate and all and something I don't think she'd drop. So, she'd be the one to update the others on sports news and content. Meanwhile, Hiro is the type I feel would be clueless regardless but also somehow know current trends perhaps via predictions or by chance. Then there's Toko as well who I feel would be a bit more in with the times with her writing, knowing what's in but also staying in her lane. So, she wouldn't know the latest game the kids are obsessed with but she'd know the current books that are out or who the newest rising authors are. For Makoto though, I feel that, once he has time to understand what's going on, he'd be lost a bit on what's trendy. Not saying he wouldn't know anything or wouldn't participate. I feel that he'd be the type of guy who'd go watch Barbie and Oppenheimer for instance but he'd have to be updated a bit since he's a busy man now and can't fully dedicate his time to seeing what's in and what's out. He's not an unemployed teen; he's the Headmaster of Hopes Peak! Though, I feel that he'd be a bit updated on stuff due to the students but still a tad confused simultaneously. Some specific ways I feel he'd turn out during this stage of his life are the following: A) Makoto likes what was popular back in the early 2000's-2010s maybe due to nostalgia, coping, or just out of familiarity. B) He learns of new media, gaining a new sense of taste, maybe becoming akin to new songs and movies from the other survivors or from his students like learning about Vocaloid, indie Internet shows, and kpop. C) He actually becomes akin to new stuff going on (it's just in his genes to be a trend follower) and abandons the old content. D) A mix of the A) and B) where he ends up liking a mix of things, Makoto still liking old content from the 2000's era he remembers enjoying and liking the newer media. This isn't a definitive thought though and I would be happy to see others interpretations on this concept!!! An older Makoto and company would navigate the world, trying their best!

The Kpop Experiment (II): More musings on Ateez in Colonge

Hi! I'm back with opinions by popular demand (e.g. three people read my first post and liked it). Read under cut, otherwise move on, nothing to see here.

I'd like to talk about the sound quality briefly first, because I mentioned it to a few people (you wouldn't believe how many people think you're off your rooker for going to a kpop concert but then want to know all the gorey details, it's fascinating) and learnt that some of them had been to Lanxess Arena before and had all complained that the sound quality there is atrocious. One of my colleagues saw Prince (PRINCE!) at Lanxess and said he halfway through the concert took a moment and apologised to his audience for the bad sound, saying they hadn't allowed him to bring in his own sound people and he had to use what was there, which apparently was terrible. Ateez def. had their own sound crew, and they provided us with maybe the best sound I've ever heard at a concert. It was very well balanced taking into consideration there were eight people to keep well adjusted in the mix, all with variable vocal habits and level of sound. Keeping them from sounding "soupy" but at the same time letting them blend together is quite a challenge, and I'm impressed by whoever mixed both Mingi and San into one good soundscape (I think Jongho could outscream Mingi if he truely wanted to, dude can project like crazy so he doesn't count). Mingi is loud, but he didn't seem loud, just powerful, and that's some really good sound mixing.

That being said the concert itself was SO LOUD. I like going to metal concerts. Ateez outdid my usual hearing protection geared towards metal concerts, and if you're louder than a fully flegded metal band with all the trimings you're too loud. No subwoofer, though, which is sad. Guerilla could do with a subwoofer, I feel.

Looking back at the show what remains is the impression of perfection and seamlessness. It was very "korean" in this regard, as in that I consider korean culture to be one striving for utter perfection and complete seriousness in everything, with very high demands for quality (obvs that is a western POV, and not fully encapuslating all that korean culture is in all it's many traits and characteristics. It's a simplification, please bear with me here.). The show was practically perfect. Everything was on point, every entrance, dance formation, timing, light change, the sound and the backup dancers. There was a lot going on and it wasn't boring, but it also wasn't really what I think a concert is, as in the presentation of art by an artist in front of a crowd that may provide feedback in some form, often leaving room for spontaneous developments and the creation of new art or unique moments. That is not a critique! I was perfectly entertained and very happy upon leaving the arena, just like I am watching a musical that has run for 300 shows. The chandelier will crash onto stage when the Phantom of the Opera is there, and Ateez will showcase perfect formations in their choreography. You get what you paid for (I paid a lot, mind you) and everybody is happy. Just don't expect them to play your fav song if it's not on the setlist or to come back after the encore. They won't. The story has been told. Move along.

So the show was perfect, and I came out utterly impressed and also a little bit confused. I had gone in wanting to see Yunho dance and to finally see what everyone means when they say Mingi is such a beast on stage, and I came back with a deep appreciation for Seonghwa, Yeosang and Hongjoong. All three deeply impressed me, but Yeosang surprised me most, because I'd never really thought of him before? But he had so much charisma that I couldn't help but be impressed, I found him so utterly charming whenever he came around and his performance was captivating (and yes, he is that beautiful.). Seonghwa was obviously my favorite for all the flirting reasons, Hongjoong had such a cool vibe, and for some reason I always overlooked Yunho whenever he came to our side.

Mingi seemed to be having an off day or maybe I just couldn't "get" him, but I was surprised when the arena tried to bark for him at the beginning and he just ignored it and bulldozed right over it and in the end thanked the crowd for chanting his name when he rapped during the Bouncy-part. I heard from a few people that he doesn't usually do that because the crowd always shouts his name with him, so I was wondering if he had something going on in his mind that made him do that.

In any case while I couldn't really vibe with whatever was going on with him, but he did deliver one nice example of just how well rehearsed they are: he was standing close to my side of the stage rapping (towards the end of the show, I have forgotten what song it was), with one foot up on one of the black plastic holder that had either a confetti cannon or something else inside - the cannons had gone off already so that was fine. He was hyping up the crowd in the standing area while spitting his lines, very focussed on the text and them, but at the same time trying to figure out if the plastic box could hold his weight (I think he wanted to use it to jump off from it or something, not into the pit but back onto the stage). But the box wasn't firmly attached to the stage and he noticed it wouldn't hold his weight, but he kept on playing with the give it had, bringing his bodyweight forwards again, waiting until the box tilted and pulling back, over and over again - while hyping the crowd, rapping and generally being aware of where he had to be next, where everyone else was etc. I'm not sure if he was even aware of doing it. I love it when people are so well rehearsed they can just split off parts of their brain and let them do something completely pointless while everything else runs on autopilot, muscle memory at this point in time, nothing to think about.

Here's a random sidenote: I told my partner to pick a bias during the concert, and despite Seonghwa working hard to be his forever bias he didn't make the cut. Instead my partner halfway through the concert decided that Yunho was going to be it, because, as he explained later, it seemed to him that Yunho was somehow in control of the dance formations and from the back organising everything. My partner (who also has many years of dance experience) also enjoyed his clean technique and then lamented that Yunho didn't have enough lines in the songs despite being what he called "the most handsome one and he even sings well!". (Yunho is very handsome of course, but watching Seonghwa smile at my partner LIKE THAT made even my knees weak, so I don't understand how my partner could be so nonchalant about flirting with him. How. Why. Somebody explain.) I found it interesting that he spotted the dance captain despite having no idea that this role even exists. I also found it interesting that he did not like Mingi. Like, at all.

Okay, this is getting long again. I had a very interesting conversation with @storkmuffin about Yunho vs. Mingi dancing styles/roles in the group with a brief detour into whether or not San has taken ballet classes (we both believe he has, my conviction coming from a choreography moment where he raised his arms above his head and ended up in a perfect fifth/third position - fyi, numbers vary depending on whether you're russian or english trained as a ballet dancer, the position is the same- with a lovely port des bras, and we agreed that Ateez probably at some point had ballet or at least contemporary ballet training.) I think Yunho might have done more than just a few classes, look at the lines of his body! I wish I could see more of his feet, but alas. Anyway, I don't have space for this here, but let me know if you want me to write that down as well (and maybe Storkmuffin might like to elaborate on my rough ideas). See ya around, or something!

- You appearance was gorgeous you had an unique texture to your silver-colored bodies which gives off a glossy rainbow chrome effect - you had an voluminous f/c hair swept to the side above their right eye with a smaller tuft of hair above your left ear and wearing a glossy leotard of matching colors you fit in with your group well but you stood out to him. - Your thick eyeshadow of different colors and how you glowed made him stare at you as Wani tried to get his attention to help sort out the groups - Stared at you as you glanced at him giggling before leaving with your group as John Dory walked over to branch to ask about your group

- “The K-pop group? Oh there just pop but in Korean… it’s horrifying aswell how good they are” Branch mumbled “Thanks Bitty B!” - He saw you again when he was gonna preform to show some of Pop music to you all he noticed how you stared at him the whole time how you smiled and glanced to your K-pop group who nodded together and you all quietly in sync danced abit with the music

- When it was the your groups turn you danced and sang as people screamed and enjoyed your dancing with some screaming the English lyrics of your songs as some stared confused but enjoyed it and how entrancing it was

- John Dory stared at you in awe the whole time smiling thinking you were an small group that just enjoyed dancing unaware you were quite popular in your K-pop genre

- After the show he walked up to you and asked you about yourself to get to know you better while Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun were giggling and leaving you two alone - John dory walked over with an smile that made you blush slightly on your slightly shiny skin as you two shook hands "I'm JD it's nice to meet you?" "(name)" you said smiling as he smiled "Your K-pop right?" You nodded as he asked questions and you'd answer them the two of you exchanging information - which soon turned to talking about other music and then turning to your own personal life's and things you likes - You went on an whole rant about your music genre telling him that K-pop was caracterized by catchy hooks, polished choreography, grandiose live performances, and impeccably produced music videos, K-pop including music by groups like BTS and BLACKPINK which where most popular and now frequently tops the Billboard charts, attracts a fiercely dedicated online following while you and your group were bigger then others and famous John dory didn't know that. - That's what made you calm he didn't know you were an Idol like him - You started to bond together and he asked if you can teach him some K-pop dances and he could let you go to all brozone concerts for free

- You were happy the deal worked out be he was even happier that you wanted to g see his concerts

- You two exchanged dances you even taught him your K-pop dance for one of your bands is songs 'Feel My Rhythm' which he loved so much but he didn't know it was your K-pop group - As an surprise he preformed it with his brothers on the concert as he posed and pointed an finger towards you playfully before going back to dancing

- You two would be laughing together back stage as you complimented him so much "John dory you put my bands- I MEAN My favourite bands song in your concert?" John dory smiled "we did an english version you translated it all for me thats why I wrote it down"

- You literally teared up "정말 친절해요!" you exclaimed hugging him as he blinked confused as Wani appeared from thin air and whispered to John dory "They said you were really kind" Wani soon ran off once again giggling

- He was slowly learning Korean just for you even though he absolute SUCKED at it you found it adorable

- You two slowly started to get comfortable with each other so sometimes you'd be staying over with him or he's staying over with you.

- Branch was going to grab John dory for rehearsel saying good morning to rhonda opening the door to see you sleeping in john dorys arms drooling and john dorys head on your neck sleeping aswell

- Branch literally deadpanned as poppy squealed so happily at the scene

- Denies he has feelings for you due to the fact your too good for him... like he fels bad that he even likes someone like you so he wanted to ignore you cause your too good for him

- You on the other hand get teased by Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun while practicing for an concert of yours - He was ignoring you which made you feel hurt so you invited him to your concert begging him to come after finding him and asking him to just go so he could just see you on stage

- Literally whipped for you so he 1000% agreed to hugging you and apologizing for ignoring you and you even asked for the others to come as well!

- When he went to the concert his eyes were wide when seeing you sing in Korean and dance happily as you noticed john dory in the crowd you grinned even wider dancing before posing while panting - He heard Better place being played along with his brothers and turned to you dancing and singing his parts made his eyes widened while he blushed an deep shade of blue as his brothers teased him - After the concert as usual you tackled him in an hug excitedly telling him you did what he did for you at his own concert with brozone

- You two grinned him holding your waist with your hands on his shoulders as you giggled happily as he chuckled looking down at you before you kissed each other - The others cheered as Baby bun was shouting an "FINALLY!" so loud as you started to curse your friend out in Korean as john dory chuckled holding you back by your waist "사랑해요" You literally froze - Once he said that you literally tackled him once more to pepper his face with kisses for learning how to say 'I love you in Korean'

the characters themself have few changes, i think rand has the most. he is the leader of the group, and he is transmale HOWEVER hes only come out to kian and rolan. his birthname is not going to be timothy but i havent decided what it is so leave suggestions. his stage name is Rand!! Rolan doesn't have a stage name, but Kian's is Scarlett because that was originally going to be her name in the campaign according to the fandom. rolan is cis female and kian is genderqueer.

Becky is also here! i havent decided her stage name but she is also cis female !!! yay!!

Rolan is still a bug. She rarely speaks about this however, and only her group members know.

just finished watching jaesu's JX Identity 20th Anniversary concert (day 3), and am deeply in my feels as we used to say.

i got almost all the things i was hoping for with this show:

full versions of old db5k standards: AND HOW. i did not anticipate that the bulk of the concert would be old songs! what a gift. they killed it. (jae stomping around with all the choreography is simply the delight of my year. my little dance machine, he didn't fall down once!!! thank you junsu for making him do it!)

they sang so many of the old songs it was really stunning actually. opening with rising sun? hug AND balloons??? is purple line a noisy monstrosity of a song? yes. do i love it with every fiber of my being? also yes. did i get emotional watching jaejoong and junsu sing it as a duet in 2024??? GUESS.

and don't even get me started on the ballads. they were many and i was overwhelmed. proud, stand by u, and i believe. begin, why did i fall in love with you, & whatever they say. love in the ice of course. the list goes on.

no, it is not the same as listening to the original db5k versions. but i tell you what. jj & su take their versions just as far as two voices possibly could, and if i hadn't already been unwell for years about the five-part ballads i would not have noticed anything missing. they're that good at their craft. they are SINGERS.

i know it's become a tired refrain, but with my whole chest: fuck sm for silencing them for so many years. we should have had this all along.

jyj songs reworked as duets: only got one? but it's not nothing. empty sure was a choice though. i was hoping for in heaven, so so, or creation, but i'll take what i can get. (for real jx should re-record the entirety of Just Us (minus back seat, thirty, and dad you there) for my happiness and well being.)

tarantallegra or oeo: junsu did not leave me hanging and i got tarantallegra! probably in my top 5 kpop choreos, though i have not sat down and really thought about it to rank them.

both of them showcasing their solo work: they haven't gotten to sing their own songs at the same concert in so long. it was wonderful. wish junsu had sung some of his more recent songs like hana, and wish jae had given us at least one of his older rock songs instead of keeping to the most recent album. but these are quibbles and i loved all the songs they did choose.

crybabies: mixed results. ok this one came as a bit of a shock because jae lost it but junsu didn't? i would have predicted the opposite. jae is not actually much of a crier, but when he cries he CRIES. this was one of those times and honestly thank goodness su kept himself together because jaejoong needed to be shuffled around the stage with someone else's steady hand in support. he was just gone. bless.

things i wanted but did not get:

a new single prepared for the concert: i just want so much more duo music from them after the treat that was 六等星 in 2022. i want an album!!!

intoxication as a slutty duet: i knew it was a long shot. but i wanted it very badly, on behalf of 2012 jamie who was about 75% more unhinged than 2024 jamie pretends not to be.

incredible as a goofy happy good time duet: what can i say, i really want to see jaejoong blundering his awkward baby horse limbs through that choreo. i really thought i might get this one! alas.

any of either of their solo power ballads as a duet: this is the only thing i'm kinda disappointed about. imagine if they'd sung flower or breathing in love or all that glitters or, god, life support together??? i guess it's best they didn't because i would be dead right now.

it was a great concert, 3 hours well spent. feeling like my old school fangirl self right now, very nostalgic. i do love them.

HELLOOOOO NEW MEMBER, SABRINA!!! sabrina’s first comeback w/ nct & the angelz 🥺. her debut came with mixed feelings - some fans wished it consisted of only the four girls, while other fans were SO hyped to see sabrina back on the stage. but no one could deny, sabrina def fit next to all of the girls!

the angelz welcomed sabrina w/ open arms, and it was so precious to see all of the girls get closer to sabrina as the promotions went on!

ALSO, this album the girls got to practically write this album all by themselves. they put in SO much hard work for this album, AND IT PAID OFF!! this album just fits them so well and everything makes sense, nctzens and nct WERE SO PROUD

they put their entire soul into this, they started working on this album literally the week WINGS promotions ended…they worked on it on planes, car rides, back stage, anywhere they could. the hard work paid off 🥺

thankfully, the girls had a BREAK from scandals…there was just some small concern (?)…but SM actually intervened and it was over with by the next morning ☺️

Twisted Wonderland Reaction Part 17 ~ Special Edition

Hello everyone! 

So…it’s been a while since I’ve made one of these. Almost 2 years to be exact. But after book 5 forever changed how I engage with twst (for better and worse), I haven’t really been up to doing reaction posts anymore. Also after book 5 I actually began focusing more on the jp server since there were many things in the official translation that I found…lacking to say the least. 

But when twst jp released this mv on April fools day, I just knew I HAD to talk about it! I’m actually surprised more people aren’t. Probably the biggest thing about this mv is that in a lot of ways the narrative of book 5’s ending has changed now we have context to how NRC Tribe performed. I’ve seen a lot of posts on the bird app saying things like it makes sense now why they lost the VDC. 

I will say, this is definitely NOT a perfect performance. But as a former dancer with WAY too much time on their hands, I decided to analyze this.

So for context, Ive done a mix of ballet and jazz for eleven years, from age 4 to 15. Even though I gave up going to classes, I still did para para and anime dances with my friends. And in 2017, I decided to return to dance and have been dancing consistently ever since. I’m mostly versed in ballet but I still do some jazz, hip hop and took up kpop last year. To judge this fairly, I watched the MV several times, four times per member, (do the math and feel free to judge me). And with that, here are the things that stuck out to me the most. 

He is beauty, he is grace, HOW HE HELL DID HE NOT KICK EPEL IN THE FACE?!

Synchronization/symmetry 

The lack of synchronization was the first thing I noticed, ESPECIALLY in the first 30 seconds. The footwork is sloppy and Deuce and Ace in particular aren't as sharp with their moves as the other five. Rook seems to be the only one doing the choreography correctly because one point at 0:25 (and again at 3:31) where he bends his knee higher than the others and thanks to those fuckass uggs standing out so much, I couldn’t unsee it. At 1:03, 1:07, 2:07, and 3:00 Ace’s form is noticeably off as well.

And this may just be a personal hangup of mine but I found lack of symmetry between the boys at 1:14 very odd. Like, I don’t know how I can describe it but the way Epel tried to take center stage during his and Vil’s duet gave me the impression that wasn’t originally in the routine. At 1:13 there’s a split second where you can actually see Vil looking down at Epel like “...wut?” I immediately thought about that moment right before they go on stage where Epel offers to take on Vil’s solo’s because he looks so weak but Vil refuses. I wonder if Epel trying to take center like that is a callback to that exchange. Unfortunately, since the boys were perfectly symmetrical for the rest of the song, it stands out as awkward all the more. 

Kalim and Jamil

Lowkey, Kalim and Jamil both carried this performance after Vil. The little magic with the mic was a super nice touch and Kalim shines the most during the dance break. He seems to be having fun with it despite being in agony. What’s interesting is that after Ace and Deuce, Kalim is the most out of sync but he pulls it off well since I can tell he’s been on the stage before. Both he and Jamil are natural performers. 

Vil’s movements

So, this has been something of a headcanon of mine but it seems to have been proven correct with this mv. Vil has always struck me as someone who probably has a lot of classical dance training but little training in other styles like hip-hop or jazz. His movements are very graceful and elegant but almost…too elegant? I don’t know if that makes sense but they seem very smooth for this style of choreography. And because he’s in the center the most, it stands out the most.

AND THAT FUCKING GRAND JETE!!! Absolutely flawless but it feels SO out of place here! I will give him credit though, that is one of the most difficult jumps to pull off in ballet, and the fact he did that in fucking 5-inch heels right after the most mentally and physically traumatic episode of his life, it’s beyond impressive. And the fact he landed perfectly and so seamlessly moved into his final solo is even more remarkable. Still, that was the most jarring element of this choreography and I think it would still be out of place even if this was a “perfect” performance. 

Now here’s where I potentially piss people off

All in all this is a perfectly imperfect performance. Being completely objective and not taking my love for these characters into account, I honestly still don’t see how they lost. Well, I understand why but it still is fucked to me. I can understand Vil feeling like NRC Tribe didn’t perform their best since they were exhausted and hurting from dealing with his overblot. I can also understand that they were probably a lot more polished in rehearsal. But here’s the thing,  for a group of amateurs, I would probably expect this quality of performance even if they hadn’t had to deal with Vil’s overblot.

First off, while the choreography is rather simple from a dancers perspective, it can be pretty complex for beginners. For one, it requires a lot of synchronization to look correct. But as a beginner, perfecting synchronization alone can take months and, in larger groups, sometimes even longer. If NRC Tribe can look like this after only ONE MONTH of training, taking into account only three out of seven of them have dance experience, that’s extremely impressive.

To give an example, last year at my dance school for our end of the year showcase, the K-pop class did a cover of TWICE's Can't Stop Me. Because our class is made up of students with varying levels of experience (some none at all), it took us the better part of eight months to learn. We had to learn everything in groups of three before we could learn and practice together. And even then, we still fucked up a lot because none of us are professionals and some of us were dancing for the first time. Look at this video and tell me if you could learn this in only ONE month. Vil, can you train me please?? XD

And that brings me to the next point, the experience of all the members. Now, in Rook’s most recent birthday vignette, he mentions learning ballet and in book 5 we see Epel and Deuce taking ballet lessons. But in ballet, as a beginner, your earliest lessons are going to be almost exclusively barre work and depending on age, you might not do center work/combinations for weeks. I’m going to assume Vil is really the only one with solid dance training with Jamil and Kalim also having the most experience just dancing in general. As for the others, they were going to need a lot more training if this was going to look more polished. ESPECIALLY Ace and Deuce.

As for having to perform right after beating OB Vil’s ass, again I was expecting to see A LOT more noticeable errors. And knowing what they all just went through honestly makes me admire this all the more. The thing is, it’s easy to be beautiful when everything is right and perfect in your world. But being able to smile even when you’re struggling and your heart is breaking is even more beautiful still. Personally, I don’t think I could perform even half as well if it were me. 

It’s unfortunate that we don’t have a MV of Neige’s performance so I could do a fully fair analysis. But if we look at all the evidence, it seems to me that NRC Tribe still gave a better performance. And I think the true tragedy here isn’t even that NRC Tribe lost since I think that was always a given considering the dynamic NRC and RSA has.

The true tragedy, I think, is that Vil could be convinced that this perfectly imperfect performance was still inferior to Neige’s. But I’ll leave that for another time.

The buzzing excitement in the air felt almost electric as you stepped backstage at the Stray Kids concert venue. This was it—your big break as a makeup artist, and you could hardly believe it. After years of hard work and countless late nights perfecting your craft, you were finally here, surrounded by the pulse of music and creativity.

With a deep breath, you smoothed down your apron and adjusted your makeup kit. Your heart raced with a mix of nerves and exhilaration. You'd seen the group perform countless times online, but nothing could compare to the energy of being this close to them.

As you entered the bustling backstage area, your eyes darted around, taking in the frantic activity. Crew members hurried past, balancing equipment and making last-minute adjustments. In the midst of it all, you spotted the members of Stray Kids chatting and laughing. They were just as captivating in person as they were on screen.

"Hey there! You must be our new makeup artist!" a voice called out. You turned to see Han grinning widely, his playful energy immediately putting you at ease. His bright smile was infectious, and you couldn't help but return it.

"Yeah, that's me! I'm really excited to be here," you replied, trying to sound confident despite the butterflies in your stomach.

"Awesome! I can't wait to see what you come up with for our looks tonight," he said, his enthusiasm palpable. Just then, Hyunjin walked over, exuding an effortless charm that made your heart skip a beat.

"Welcome to the team," Hyunjin said smoothly, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "I hope you're ready for some fun!"

Before you could respond, Bang Chan approached, his natural leadership shining through as he gathered the group. "Alright, everyone! Let's focus up. We've got a lot to do before showtime." His authoritative yet warm demeanour instantly commanded respect.

You watched as the members fell into line, each bringing their unique energy to the room. Han continued to joke with the others, while Hyunjin shot you a playful wink before moving to join the group. As they rehearsed their choreography, you couldn't help but admire their dedication and talent.

Taking a deep breath, you gathered your tools, ready to showcase your skills. This was more than just a job; it was the beginning of an adventure, and you were determined to leave your mark. You were joining the boys for their comeback on their ATE world tour. You had already been briefed on ideas on concepts for them, but ultimately it was up to you and the boys on the final design. You set up your station in a quiet corner of the backstage area, the soft hum of excitement around you. With your brushes neatly arranged and your palettes ready, you felt a surge of adrenaline. You were about to enhance the looks of some of the most talented performers in the industry.

As you worked, the members took turns coming over for their makeup sessions. First up was Felix, who had always been your favourite, being an Aussie yourself you think that's what connected you to him further from the rest.

Quickly sanitising your hands and one final check of your area you nod your head to him signalling to sit down so you can get started.

"Hi, I'm Y/N I'll be your makeup artist for the tour!" - you say with a smile looking over your shoulder at Felix as you grab some moisturisers to apply.

He gives you a polite smile and introduces himself back, you grab some clips from your apron pocket and brush his hair back with your fingers clipping them out of his face.

"Your skin is beautiful; you've got to give me your skin care routine" - you giggle as you apply to moisturiser from the back of your hand onto his face over his freckles

A slight blush comes over Felix as you compliment him.

"Thank you" - his voice faltering slightly "all I really do is cleanse and moisturise nothing to fancy" - he says with a smile.

You and Felix fall into comfortable small talk, from your life back in Australia to how you ended up in Seoul, your favourite food and shows to watch and your schedule with the boys. Before you know it, his makeup was done, and it was time for the other members. Each one of them was extremely respectful and took their time introducing themselves and helping work on the look they wanted. Finally, it was time to do the Leaders makeup.

You clean some of the brushes as you look up and lock eyes with him. He truly was something out of a book. you wave him over to your chair with a smile as you get everything set up again.

As you focused on BangChan, you could feel the energy in the room shift. The moment he settled into the chair, you noticed the way he carried himself—confident yet approachable, with a warmth that made you feel like you had known him for years.

"Have you always wanted to work in makeup?" he asked, watching you closely as you prepped your brushes. His curiosity was genuine, and it made you feel at ease.

"Pretty much," you replied, feeling a flutter of excitement. "I've loved makeup since I was a kid. It's amazing how it can transform someone's look and boost their confidence."

He nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "That's true. For us, it's not just about looking good on stage; it's about feeling good, too. You have a big role in that."

You smiled, flattered by his words. "Thanks! I just want to help you all shine even brighter."

As you began applying foundation, you couldn't help but notice how focused he was. His usual playful demeanour softened as you worked, and you appreciated the trust he placed in you. You asked about his favourite performances, and he shared anecdotes, laughter spilling from his lips as he recounted a particularly chaotic rehearsal.

"Once, I tripped during a dance move and nearly knocked over Hyunjin," he chuckled, shaking his head. "He's still teasing me about it!"

You laughed, imagining the scene. "It must be fun to have that kind of relationship. You all seem really close."

Bang Chan's eyes lit up. 

"We are more than most know. We've been through so much together, and it feels like we're family. It's comforting to know we have each other's backs, especially on days like today."  He says with a smirk.

With every brushstroke, you felt a deeper connection forming. His sincerity was refreshing, and you found yourself opening up a little more. 

"I can imagine. It must be nice to share these experiences with people who understand."

He nodded, his expression softening. 

"Definitely. It can be tough, but they are like brothers to me, well maybe more like kids." You both giggle at that.

As you blended his contour, you stole a glance at his reflection. His gaze met yours in the mirror, and for a moment, the world outside faded away. 

"You're really good at this," he said, his voice low as he holds your gaze. "I can already tell we are all going to get along great."

Your cheeks warmed at the compliment. 

"I appreciate that. I just hope I can keep up with the energy you all bring to the stage and make sure you look as good as you feel."

"You've already exceeded my expectations," he replied, flashing that charming smile of his. "You make us look even better than we feel."

You feel your checks flush at his words, biting your lip 'get a grip Y/N' You continued working, and as you added a touch of highlight to his cheekbones, he leaned closer, seemingly lost in thought. 

"Are you going to be with us the whole tour"

You pause for a moment, then said, "Yep, I was hired to be your personal makeup artist for the tour so basically whenever there is a shoot I'll be there or even if you just want to try a new look you can call me" you say with a giggle

His eyes sparkled with interest. "Mhm I'd like that."

Your heart skipped a beat.

Just then, the stage manager called out, reminding everyone that it was almost time to hit the stage. Bang Chan looked at you, a mix of anticipation and excitement in his eyes. "Looks like showtime is here. Are you ready?"

You took a deep breath, feeling a mix of nerves and adrenaline. "Should i not be the one asking you that" You giggle, clapping your hands softly before unclipping his hair "Good luck!" 

He stood up, giving you one last smile before heading to the huddle with the rest of the group.  You watched him join his members, your heart full of hope for what was to come.

In that moment, you realised you weren't just a makeup artist; you were part of something bigger—something that would change your life forever.
