CINEMA is the first mini album by KIKI from SEVENTEEN, released on November 18th, 2024. the EP includes six song, including the title track “TO. X” and the japanese single “BAD MODE”. in this album, she focuses 90s / 00s R&B and pop genre throughout the tracks, be able to create the nostalgic and cozy mood, emphasizes her beginning of new career path.

CW ... mentions of blood, dead body, homicide

kiki builds the concept of the music video based on several thriller movie, such as cure ( 1997 ), the handmaiden ( 2016 ), thelma and louise ( 1991 ) and silence of the lambs ( 1991 ).

( ONE ) the mv starts with the shot of crime scene. while there are many investigators out there, kiki, detective, arrives on the scene as only female detective. lots of flashes, bloods, and a dead body — she’s stressed, but trying to not register on facade. because the slightest hint of humaneness will be deadly. not from the criminals, but people around her. shortly after, they catch the suspect, bring it to the station. as take the suspect to the interrogation room, she is looked from all of other staffs who she passes by. everyone, is watching her — watching them. even when she gets on the elevator alone, the people around her are all men, clear reference from silence of the lambs.

( TWO ) takes deep breath, she enters the interrogation room with the start of second verse. surprisingly, the suspect, wears oversized clothes that cover the figure with messy hair, looks exactly like kiki. the camera centers on two kiki who sitting across the table from each other. one is a detective, the other is a suspect. the second kiki avoids the answer, replies abstract words, makes other detectives mad and upset. however, she — the first kiki, remains calm and silent. times passes by, the other male investigators start to fade away, leave only two kiki in the room. when she realizes, the environment becomes different. the two are in the dark abandoned house. the more they talk, the more memories flashes black on her mind. the image of the flame from lighter, water spills onto the floor, cutting the wall in the letter of X — the tear falls from her eye. then suddenly, she is snapped back into the reality.

( THREE ) with the bridge flows as a calm before the storm, kiki the detective remembers more. the gaze from surroundings. the pressure, the tension she feels. everything, as her. with a dramatic final chorus, she takes another kiki’s hand, run away from the burning station. they run, holding hands together and run. the two get on the vintage open car, run far far away to the free. to the place no one stares at them, or looks down on them like the people used to.

Kaori Takahashi (Japanese: 高橋かおり, Hepburn: Takahashi Kaori; born February 6, 1995), also known as Kimberley Ava Takahashi and mononymously known as Kaori, is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, actress, producer, DJ, and fashion designer. Making her debut as a singer in 2011, she has gone on to be one of Japan's most popular singers. She is portrayed by Hirai Momo.

Kaori Takahashi was born on February 6, 1995 in Azabu-Juban, Tokyo, Japan as an only child. Born into a wealthy family, her father is Takahashi Hidehiko, a businessman. Her mother is Nakamura Mamiko, a singer-songwriter, socialite, designer, and former member of the eighties idol girl group Onyanko Club.

Takahashi's parents suddenly divorced in 2004, which caused her and her mother to move out of their wealthy neighborhood and into a small apartment in Yanaka, Tokyo. Takahashi and her mother would reside in Yanaka for two years until they moved into her maternal grandparents' home in rural Nakagawa, Nagano, Japan. They lived there briefly, moving to a larger townhouse apartment in Brooklyn shortly after.

After moving to the United States, Takahashi began acting and modeling as a way to support her mother. She attended an audition for Hannah Montana (2006) and secured a supporting role, and would continue working with Disney until 2010. Takahashi signed with Hollywood Records and released music under the label, but her debut album, scheduled for release in 2009, was shelved.

Takahashi attended high school in New York for a year, but moved to attend school in Tokyo in 2010. She would continue her modeling and acting career there, sending her mother a percentage of what she made.

Takahashi speaks Chinese fluently, as her mother studied it while in high school. She also speaks decent Spanish and French, the former of which she learned in high school, and the latter of which her mother also studied.

2005–2010: Career beginnings, stints with Disney, cancelled debut album

Shortly after moving to New York, Takahashi was scouted by IMG Models. She began modeling for magazines such as Seventeen and Elle Girl, for fashion brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, and in commercials for the fashion doll brand Bratz.

Showing an interest in acting due to her love for actresses Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie, and Lucy Liu, Takahashi began taking acting classes and auditioning for roles. Due to her inexperience, she didn't get many roles at first. However, she landed a small role in the television series Ugly Betty in 2005.

Around the same time, Takahashi's mother would spot a casting call in a newspaper for socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's reality show The Simple Life, calling for "eccentric families" on the East Coast that Hilton and Richie could live with. Seeing it as an opportunity for her daughter, Mamiko answered the call, and the Takahashi family was chosen by production. The family's episode aired in October 2005.

Takahashi would continue modeling following her role in Ugly Betty until she was convinced to audition for Disney's Hannah Montana. She scored a supporting role in the series, and she received critical acclaim once it premiered.

Following this, Takahashi would star in other TV shows such as the the sitcom Seven Street (2006), Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and in the film Cherrytree (2007). She also had a guest role in the show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007). In 2007, she began writing music and recording demos for Hannah Montana and other Disney productions, which included The Princess Protection Program (2008), 16 Wishes (2010), and Shake It Up (2010). Takahashi was also a cast member of The Mickey Mouse Club at this time, remaining on the show until 2008.

In 2008, she had a supporting role in the Emma Roberts-led film Wild Child. Afterwards, she had her first major film role in Lucky, playing the lead character Elizabeth "Lucky" Jones. The role garnered Takahashi a Kids' Choice Award nomination, as well as a Young Artist Award. In September, she was cast as Patrice in the Broadway production of the musical 13. Takahashi's popularity as an actress picked up, and as a result, Disney decided to push her as a singer, as well. Her debut single album, Kimberley, was released on October 9th, 2008. The album's lead single, "Girlfriend," debuted at No. 1 on Radio Disney. That same year, she also appeared in the music video for Miley Cyrus' "7 Things."

In early 2009, Takahashi starred in the television film Anything But, playing the rebellious Riley "Lee" Sawai. It garnered her first nominations at the Teen Choice and MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The same year, Takahashi was in talks with Disney to star in her own television series, but that would never come to fruition. She later confirmed that her debut album, titled Don't Tell, was set for release that year. However, months passed, and after the album's release faced multiple delays, news about it eventually stopped. By early 2010, Takahashi revealed that Don't Tell had been shelved and that she had moved back to Japan to continue school. Disney confirmed the news shortly afterwards.

The last two films Takahashi was in before resuming school was Talk Talk Talk and Superficial (both 2010), which both premiered in theaters to positive reviews. Takahashi contributed to the former’s soundtrack, which became her only album release in the States at the time. She also sang the track used in the opening credits of the latter and a track that appeared on the film’s soundtrack. Takahashi also appeared in a few episodes of the Nickelodeon TV show Victorious, which she also wrote music for.

2011–2015: Other acting roles, debut in Japan, rising popularity

After moving back to Tokyo, Takahashi moved into her maternal aunt and cousin's apartment. While in school, she continued to write music with the help of her mother, and recorded a few songs which would be posted to her Facebook page.

Takahashi would ease back into work through modeling, scoring jobs with Seventeen, Egg, Nylon Japan, Vivi, and S'Cawaii. She modeled for the clothing brands JSG and Fig & Viper, the former of which was founded by former model Kaoru Watanabe. Takahashi was also featured in various commercials, as well as in campaigns for cosmetics brands such as Dolly Wink and ColourPop. She also became an exclusive model for Egg, appearing on five separate covers.

After modeling for a while, Takahashi had a supporting role in the Japanese drama Switch Girl!! (2011). The drama made her popularity as an actress rise in Japan, and later that year, she scored another major film role.

Playing the lead in the film High School Debut, it would do immensely well, becoming one of the most popular teen films in Japan and skyrocketing Takahashi to star status. She was nominated for numerous awards in the country, most notably for the Best Newcomer awards at the Japan Academy Film Prize. Additionally, Takahashi also sang "Heart no Tonari Ni," the song used in the films opening credits, which would go on to chart highly in Japan. As a result, the record label Avex Trax would later contact her and offer her a recording contract.

Takahashi accepted, wanting to restart her music career. After nine months of development and recording, Takahashi released her debut single, "Treat Me (Akachan o Atsukatte)."

Meant to establish her "eccentric" image and technopop sound, "Treat Me" debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon charts, selling over 100,000 units. It fared moderately in the States, landing at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single brought Takahashi back into the public consciousness, and it set the precedent for what would be her debut album.

2012–present: Debut album, expansion into other countries, superstar status

Finally, on February 17, 2012, Takahashi released her debut album, Kaori. It was massively successful, selling over 400,000 units and debuting at No. 2 on the Oricon albums chart. It also did well in the United States, garnering a placement of No. 70 on the Billboard 200. With sales of over a million, Kaori was one of the highest selling albums in Japan by the end of 2012. Takahashi's sophomore album, Sweet 18 (2013), would turn her into a teen idol in the country.

After releasing her second studio album, Takahashi released her debut Chinese album, K.T. (2013). Prior to its release, the single "I'm Not Yours" was released. It topped the Global Chinese Pop Chart, selling over 90,000 units in the country.

In 2020, Takahashi signed with JYP Entertainment and ventured into the Korean pop market with the single "I'm Not Cool" off of her extended play Spicy 'n Sweet. Both the single and album topped the Gaon charts, and Takahashi became the fastest female soloist to garner a first win after just four days. She would achieve a triple crown three weeks later.

With over 10 million albums sold in total, Takahashi is one of the highest-selling musical artists in Japan as of 2024. On September 6, 2024, she released her eighth studio album, CHECK IT!, alongside the single "ESCALATE."

The album sold over 2,500,000 units within its first week, and its projected to be the highest selling album in Japan by the end of the year.

Takahashi is a lesbian, of which she's been open about since her debut in 2012. She has stated that she has known she was into girls since she was in middle school, stating, "I guess I've always been this way. I naturally gravitated towards girls more, but I think it really clicked when I was around 11. I never clicked with boys in a romantic sense."

Since 2014, Takahashi has been dating singer and DJ Elizabeth "Liz" Ronson. The two were in a highly publicized relationship for six years, until they publicly split in 2020. They remained apart for three years, but rekindled their relationship in 2023. In September 2024, Takahashi and Ronson announced that they were engaged after seven years of dating. The two live together in Los Angeles and own a cat, Matcha.

At the age of nine, Takahashi was formally diagnosed with autism and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). Since the start of her career, she has been very open about her experiences with both, and has been an advocate for other neurodivergent individuals.

In 2013, nine years after their publicized divorce, Takahashi's parents were remarried at a small ceremony in France. Takahashi acted as the maid of honor. The year prior, she had seen her father in person for the first time since 2004.

In 2014, Takahashi founded the fashion brand Jazzy. Targeted at mainly teen and young adult audiences, the brand was based around Takahashi's own individual aesthetic, as well as around the gyaru subculture. In 2016, Jazzy expanded into cosmetics and began housing Takahashi's first of two fragrances, Electric Pink. The brand, now worth over USD$400 million, is well-known for its eyewear, handbags, and accessories.

Takahashi began deejaying in 2014, following a surprise set at Tommorowland. Since then, she has done sets at Glastonbury, Coachella, and at the Governor's Ball in New York City.

In 2014, Takahashi became the face for Moschino's Toy 2 fragrance, but left the brand shortly after. In 2016, Takahashi was named the global ambassador for the Italian luxury fashion house Versace, which was teased in an Instagram post in April of that year. She became the face of the brand's Crystal Noir fragrance shortly after, and has remained with them since.

In 2016, she became the ambassador for SK-II, the largest luxury skincare company in Japan. A year later, Takahashi was chosen as the face of MAC Cosmetics, signing a USD$10 million contract with the brand. She was later featured in a pictorial for their Viva Glam lipstick line in Vogue Japan.

Takahashi has also been named the global ambassador of Bulgari in 2018, and Hermes the following year, and Marc Jacobs in 2022. In 2020, she became the model for Chum Churum, a soju brand founded in South Korea.

The following year, Takahashi was named the ambassador for South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster. In 2022, she partnered with the brand to create her own limited edition line of sunglasses. The line, called Kashi x Gentle Monster, was sold for six months.

In 2023, Takahashi partnered with Push! Color, a colored contact lens brand founded in Japan, to release her own line of colored lenses, called DEJA U. Four separate colors, ranging from light blue to hot pink to gray to yellow, were released in May.

*Note: Out of all 3 platforms, I am most active on Wattpad, only because I am still learning how to operate Tumblr and AO3 as a Writer. I am on Tumblr and AO3, but I have mostly been reading fics. Recently, I have been wanting to try out writing on both platforms, but I still need to figure out how to properly use them. So, until then, you can find me more on Wattpad. I am currently in the process of releasing fics, but I thought I would try to spread my name out there more as a Writer by using more than one platform. I have over 100 drafts on Wattpad that I am in the process of writing and have two published stories, but they are currently on a hiatus until I find inspiration for them again. The L Word.

elsy + chan

with elsy’s promotions being over, chan takes her out on a date like he had promised her. and how will elsy react when she hears the L word?

“so where is it that you’re taking me?” elsy questioned chan for probably the fourth time already. he had yet to tell her where he was going to take elsy for their date. with elsy’s promotions finally over, the girl had some free time on her and chan took this as an opportunity to take her out like he had promised.

“mm, not going to say.” chan teased. “but just know you’ll love it.”

elsy narrowed her eyes at chan when he wasn’t looking. with chan, the possibilities were endless on where exactly he was taking her.

as they continued to walk, elsy had noticed the old jyp building coming up. she had stopped walking for a second to look up, causing chan to do the same. “wow, it’s actually been awhile since I’ve been around here.” she said.

“same here.”

elsy and chan stared at the building some more. “this building sure does bring a lot of memories.” she slightly chuckled. “it sure does.” chan said after. “like when you told me people were being mean to you-“

“ah, man. I hated that!” elsy huffed. “all I wanted was help in finding directions to the dance room and not one person had the kind heart to help me.” she said, turning her head to smile at chan. “but then I found you, so maybe there was a reason.”

“perhaps there was.” chan grinned. “I still remember your face coming up to me, you had braces.” he added. “I also thought you were really pretty.”

elsy softly smiled at chan as she went in to kiss him on his cheek. “that day was the start of our friendship.”

“I mean there was no way of getting out when you had practically said we were already friends from the very beginning.” chan joked. “hey! I needed friends.” Elsy exclaimed.

“and I ended up being your only friend.”

“untrue!” elsy defended herself. “I had other friends…too.”

“but who was the one you were mostly around with?” chan wiggled his eyebrows. elsy clapped her tongue. “where are you taking me?” she questioned once more to change the subject.

“still with the questions?” chan tsked. “and for your information, we’re almost there. just need a few more steps.” chan grabbed elsy’s arm, making her walk right next to him. now she was really curious on where chan was taking her. but once they came to a stop in front of a small, hidden old restaurant, the girl began to smile hard. she knew the place a bit too well.

“aw, channie!” she exclaimed as more memories came to her mind. it was a restaurant that elsy knew all too well, the restaurant being her and chan’s favorite growing up. any chance they got, they were in there eating delicious ramen as well as some dumplings. “is this where you’re taking me?”

“yes.” chan grinned. “it really has been forever since we last ate here. so I thought I’d bring you here, you know, like I always did when we were younger.”

“then what are we waiting for?” elsy questioned. “let’s get in there!” she grabbed on chan’s hand, dragging him inside the small restaurant. and when entering, it was almost quite empty. only having an older couple in there, and now her and chan.

the smell was still the same, just how chan and elsy remembered. “welcome- oh! channie and elsy!” an older lady had said, coming into view from coming out of the kitchen. and the couple had remembered her right away. “I thought I’d never see you two again. the both of you became big stars and forgot all about me, eh?” she joked, letting out a small chuckle.

“sorry about that.” elsy pouted. “life gets really busy as an idol. don’t know how I even managed to have time for channie again.” she teased.

“oh, channie.” the lady smiled. “you’ve grown so much, you as well elsy. so handsome and beautiful. ah, I can just remember the times when you two were teenagers coming in here all the time for lunch or dinner. so little you two were.” she chuckled. “please have a seat.”

elsy and chan took a seat in the far back, the usual spot the two would always sit at. “I’m guessing you two will be getting your usual order?”

“yes, please.” chan grinned.

the older lady quickly left to get started on chan and elsy’s order, already knowing it from memory. elsy had looked up, scanning around the restaurant. “this place hasn’t changed at all.” she said. “thank you for taking me here. it sure has brought back many memories.”

chan went out to reach for elsy’s hand, gently rubbing the back of it. “I’ve actually been wanting to take you here for quite the longest. so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity.”

“well you sure do know how to plan great dates, bang chan.” elsy giggled. “I try, I try.” chan smiled. he stared at elsy for just a few seconds, taking her in. elsy let out a small laugh, “don’t stare at me, it makes me nervous.”

“I’m sorry,” chan said. “I can’t help it.”

“-hey, I saw the red lights video by the way.” chan was caught off guard when taking a sip from his drink, almost choking on it. elsy smirked, knowing exactly he would react that way. “yeah? what- what about it?” chan stuttered. he could feel his ears already burning red.

“oh, nothing.” elsy teased. “just thought I mention how good you looked in it.” now it was her to soft rub on chan’s hand. which he ended up moving his hand away to cover his ears. “ah, elsy. I know what you’re doing it.” he nervously laughed.

“I’m not doing anything.” elsy smiled. “can’t I just mention how great my boyfriend looked?”

“no.” chan wheezed. “let’s just talk about something else.” elsy laughed at chan, finding it amusing the way he reacts.

“and here you guys go.” the lady had said, placing down two bowls of ramen in front of them as well as some dumplings on the side. the two main things chan and elsy would order all the time. “just the way you guys like it.” she smiled at them. “please enjoy.”

“it smells so good. thank you.” elsy said before the lady had walked away to leave the two alone. “here, take the first bite.” elsy grabbed a dumpling with her chopsticks and placed it against chan’s lips in which he took a bite of. “oh man, it tastes just how I remember.” he said in english. “so good.”

elsy chuckled and soon the two began to eat up their food while enjoying conversation.

“I’m so full.” elsy said in english as she patted her stomach

“that was some great food though.” chan said after.

“all done here?” the lady had said as she came back to take their dishes away. the couple had nodded, grinning. “oh yes, it was very good by the way.” elsy said.

“may I have the bill?” chan questioned as he was in the process of taking out his wallet. the lady simply smiled as she shook her head no. “it’s alright, channie. the food is on me.”

“no-“

“no, no. I insist.” she said. “plus i already told you long ago that the food would be on me the day you’d finally take elsy on a date here.”

chan and elsy had looked at her in shock. “how did you know-?”

“oh elsy.” she chuckled. “it was easy to figure it out with the way chan looks at you.”

chan’s ears began to turn red again. all while elsy couldn’t help but smile. “and don’t worry, secret is safe with me.” she winked at the couple.

“there must be a way I can repay you for the meal.” chan still offered to pay but the lady continued to shake her head. “just come visit me again more often and that’s the best way to repay me.”

“thank you so much.” elsy said, standing and giving the lady a tight hug. chan did the same after. “now, you don’t go breaking her heart. elsy is a great woman to have, channie.”

“oh I promise.” chan swung an arm around elsy as the girl rested her head his shoulder. “she definitely is great.”

“you kids have a great night.”

after saying their final goodbyes, chan and elsy made their way out the restaurant to head back to elsy’s apartment.

“I loved it, I loved tonight. thank you for taking me back there. I never realized how much I’ve missed going there.” elsy hugged onto chan as the two sat on her couch. chan went ahead and kissed elsy on the side of her head. “I’m glad you did.” he smiled. there was a steady silence between the two as chan grabbed onto elsy’s hands, playing with her fingers.

he bit on his lip for a quick second before blurting out what he was going to say next. it just happened naturally. “I love you.”

chan didn’t notice it, but elsy’s eyes had went wide without her realizing it and even feeling her stomach churn at the three words that left his mouth.

I love you. the silence was loud. and elsy was frozen.

that was until she lifted her head up and looked chan in the eye. the two only stared at one another. “w-what?” She stuttered.

“I said I love you. elsy, I love you.” chan was softly smiling at elsy. but the girl continued to stare at him, no words being able to come out of her mouth. and elsy mentally slapped herself after seeing chan’s smile fade away.

but for some reason she just couldn’t say anything. even if she wanted to.

there was so denying that she did indeed love chan. but to actually say it, was something she was going to find difficult to do. elsy was never one to show love easily let alone to actually say it. back then it was so easy for her to tell him, knowing it was just in a friend way. but things were different now with chan being more than just her best friend.

was she ready to tell chan? chan brought her happiness, she felt loved, he did everything for her. so she didn’t understand as to why she was so afraid to let it be known that she loved chan.

she has always kept this guard up. elsy didn’t like the idea of being hurt. but she knew chan. her heart was telling to her to just say it back to him, but her mind told her differently. elsy was conflicted. “bang chan- I”

“you don’t need to say it if you’re not ready.” chan said. he placed a piece of elsy’s hair behind her ear. “I just wanted to tell you how I feel.” he swallowed hard as he got up from the couch.

and elsy only stared at him and his movements. “I’ll um, message you.”

“I’m sorry.”

chan shook his head, “no, no. no need to be sorry.” he said. but deep down, elsy knew he was feeling upset.

when chan began walking towards the front door, elsy wanted nothing more than to just run up to chan and tell him she loved him. to make him come back. but instead, elsy just sat on her couch frozen at the spot, looking at chan’s back facing her.

not once did chan look back at her, even when he had opened the door to leave. chan only shut it, not saying a word to elsy at all.

and elsy began to hug her legs as she felt tears begin to flow down her face. “I love you, too.”
