kouyou is tired and grieving and always, always beautiful.

she remembers a time when she wasn't, even when she tries not to. she remembers warm words from an optimistic man, remembers his warm hands as they took hers,

his warm blood, soaking into her cheap yukata

warm tears, slipping down her makeup-less face

even as she was dragged back into the abyss, she remembers that brief flash of sunlight on her face

warm

and it burns now, knowing that it was never going to happen for someone like her. she was foolish to hope. better to have never loved at all rather than loving and knowing that you were once young and dumb enough to believe.

(she sees chuuya beginning to fall into that trap. his eyes follow dazai's figure. she trails her manicured nails against the table, a discordant screech ringing out. chuuya turns back to her.

"he's just a boy, lad," she says, trying to keep the bitterness out of her voice. "he can't change the world to make someone like you fit into it.")

I feel like a lot of ppl don’t see that kousano is so interesting because of how they conflict with one another not because they’re like both mean women or something. for me it’s all about how on the surface they’re a bit alike and would probably get along but when it comes to their deeper beliefs they completely clash and that’s what makes it so angsty good. also the fact that their backstories parallel one another but had opposite outcomes is so compelling to me. Yosano was trapped and traumatized under Mori’s control but she was able to escape her situation. Kouyou was trapped in the mafia by the previous boss but her failed escape attempt only furthered her belief that people like her can never escape to a better life. which ofc is exactly what Yosano did. they’re each other’s antithesis in that sense which is why I love exploring their potential dynamic cause I think they would really ruffle each other’s feathers but respect each other at the same time. also there’s the fact that Kouyou straight up hates love because the one time she chased it she was only left further traumatized and so she closed off her heart (but ofc we see through her relationship with Kyouka that she can’t completely stop herself from caring about anyone) and all of the angst potential that creates. I could go on forever

hc that it all started just to annoy chuuya. patches with wobbly and uneven stitches on his shirts and jackets and his expensive coats.

then proudly showing off the ones he made for oda and ango.

now at the ada, they'll find some random patch on top of their files. and it somehow matches them.

just dazai subtly teasing them with it because he's an emotionally constipated idiot and he don't know how to say, you are my friend. thank you for helping me.

Listen, Listen, I'm aware that Chuuya is an amazing character and doesn't get enough screentime in the manga, but : we quite literally haven't seen characters like Kouyou, Gin, Lucy, Naomi, Yosano in ages. And Chuuya has an entire light novel dedicated to him, not to mention he is a part of the main plot of fifteen.

Aside from Naomi and Yosano, who are ADA members (who we haven't seen in a while as well), the other three are locked in Asagiri's basement and no one is talking about them.
