Review: Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco
I have finally finished the Kingdom of the Wicked series and boy did that take me longer than anticipated! For me, I flew through the first two installments so this third one was a little slower for me to finish this time around.
Wrath and Emilia’s love story continues, but the long-awaited bonding is not until at least 100 pages in. (OUCH for the people that have been waiting for this joining moment for these beloved characters.) I was very excited to finally read this book and complete their love story but was met with harsh situations where these characters could not be in the same room as each other.
Wrath, as a character in KOTF, felt rushed. Maniscalco in her first two installments created Wrath as a complex demon that had a love for Emilia without the audience knowing his secret curse in book three. I was a little confused with this plot in KOTF as I felt as he had shown his love all throughout the series thus far. Maybe I am taking this too literally, but I for sure would not be invested if it wasn’t for their connection throughout the Kingdom of the Wicked series and felt that love throughout the pages. I felt as though this could potentially be sloppy writing or editing just to complete the series to make it a trilogy. I felt as though this would have better carried over into four/five books or just a duology.
I was a little confused while I was reading as there were a lot of characters that I forgot about. Maybe this is just an issue for me and not for other readers but seriously let me know, but if you tend to jump around a lot of series, make sure to remember the characters here as they fill huge plot points towards the end!
Some plot points I do feel are very “deus ex machina.” Everything just so happens to work out all the time! I really didn’t think Vittoria would get away so easily, and towards the end, I still thought she was going to do something vengeful.
Although it does seem like I am ripping this book to shreds, I really did enjoy it. It was nice to conclude Wrath and Emilia’s journey which I have been invested in for years. We, as an audience, always knew there was something more to Emilia than she let on and her not remembering, makes complete sense! It does maybe make me want to go back and see what I missed first read around for the first two novels.
As I am a fan of Maniscalco’s descriptive writing style, I will definitely be reading her next book Throne of the Fallen but I’m hoping there are slightly more adult themes and concepts. We started to get it later throughout the series– but I’m always looking for that little extra.
On to the next!
Rating: 3/5
⭐⭐⭐Rating: 3 out of 5

Hey bestie!!Hello fellow anon!Ily both sm rn cause for some unknown reason I’ve been extra obsessed with kotw and can’t stop thinking about it.Literally.I’m reading every single goodreads review cause it’s the closest thing to discussing it.
Anyways sooo…Pride’s definitely the problem lol. Was Vittoria the only one Pride supposedly cheated on her with? This is not only miscommunication lmao.Wasn’t he kissing Vittoria and you can’t tell me he had no feeling at all for her. That’s cheating. That being said I wanted to discuss some things I noticed like I got the feeling Lucia didn’t leave only because of the whole Vittoria thing. That seemed like the final push and isn’t she happy and well rn?Why tf would they send her to hell’s version of Italy and not the actual Italy tho…
Also, I could swear it was said that Pride’s wife and her sisters’s hearts were torn from their chests. That’s why we all thought of them being the twins. So why the inconsistency?I’m pretty sure Kerri just changed her mind or forgot mentioning that.
Alsooo…I could also swear Claudia lost her mind in the first book. How come she’s fine and well outta nowhere? Not that I’m unhappy about it.I love her. She’s a sweetheart.I love both her and Vittoria way more than Pride, but strangely I kinda like him too,not sure why.And the irony of them being besties while everyone was trying to keep them apart isn’t lost on me.
Vittoria’s definitely unhinged and aggressive but she’s so interesting imo.I loved reading about her in kotw and that didn’t change in kotf. Can’t wait to read more about her.She brings the flavor…
Ahh wouldn’t be all love more of our collective baby Sloth
Can I just say, I love how some of you are having conversations through my askbox as anons? Like, this is so wholesome and fun to see 😂❤️
Lmao I also read every Goodreads review and listened to all podcasts I could find about this book while waiting for KOTC and after that KOTF, so I relate hard with you. 💀💀
And okay, coming to this. Not a surprise to anyone, it once again is a man who is that problem. 💀💀
Pride definitely fucked up big time, and I do definitely think he and Vittoria do have some unresolved feelings for each other, which is what makes this triangle a hot mess, I suppose? Like, the only thing that could make this even more unhinged, is if Vittoria and Lucia/Claudia also end up attracted to each other ajfhajbfjangnang (okay but listen, they were friends as "mortals". They did dates and everything. Is it really such a stretch to thing Claudia and Vittoria kissed at some point? Is it? Hmm? 👀)
"hell's version of Italy and not actual Italy" is sending me kahfjajgkabgja I would be so sour if I was Lucia lol. Though I think it's keep her protected with the shadow/star witches (I think that's what they're called?), and also because the Shifting Isles are never stagnant, I believe there was something about how they exist in multiple intersections of time and space simultaneously? so I think it would be way harder to find someone in there than in the real, mortal-world Italy.
Okay, I don't remember this well, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I think the part about pride's wife and her sister having their hearts torn was in the Wrath POV bonus chapter? And that was, I believe, one of the initial crafts that Kerri Maniscalco was writing. So there are lots of things in those chapters that don't match with the book we got. I think they're meant more as some fun add-ons to read, rather than missing parts of the books we got.
And about Claudia losing her mind..... I'm pretty sure that was one of the witches, right? Like, even with Sofia Santorini, it was Nonna Maria who made her go mad, rather than her actually going insane. So they probably did something similar to Claudia ti get her away from scrying (because then she'd start remembering), and then fixed her, because well. You can't fuck up you boss' daughter like that permanently when she entrusted you to care for her. 💀💀💀
YES, them being besties even when they were always meant to be apart? Look what happens when there's no man to be fighting over. 🤌🤌
Oh yeah, Vittoria is interesting to read about, yes. But my gripe with her character is more like.... she's not exactly morally gray for most of her arc. She keeps switching between being absolutely diabolical, to being shown as an all-in-all good person. And that's more of a writing inconsistency. Like, I like the unhingedness, but I would really appreciate if we can decide what role her character is going to have in the story, you know? Because right now it seems like she is being swinged to play whatever part suits the point the story of the other characters is at, as opposed to having her own role and arc. So perhaps with more development, I'd appreciate her character more.
And oh yes, Sloth's time to shine when???

My thoughts on Kingdom of the Feared
What a masterpiece. The writing was amazing, even if I felt at times that Kerri glossed over some important things, like Emilia's past and the whole situation with Vittoria (including Vittoria) in the first chapters.
I need a prequel about the romance between Wrath x Fury.
Envy deserves a novela.
I adore Sloth. He sits in his House all day and reads. Pretty much what I do.
At the end, I really liked Vittoria, and I want her to end up with Pride? Don't come for me about it I think her and Domenico wouldn't work out because they kind of have a owner-puppy relationship, in my opinion.
Something else I really enjoyed was when Emilia became a goddess and was more cold and remorseless and officially a morally grey character.
This book left many possibilities open, so I think that the author might write again in this universe.
Also, again, don't hate me for it I don't want Lucia to remember. Call me a sadistic bitch, but I want to see the angst between the princess of House Vengeance and the prince of Pride.

so I had to take a few days to process due to things in my personal life BUT GOD THE ENDING
emilia getting her happy ending
vittoria getting HER happy ending
sharing magic between spouses?????? i had to stop reading bc i was crying even though we knew it was coming
I think the friendship between emilia and envy is probably the greatest thing to ever happen because they're gonna cause so much chaos for shits and giggles and nobody will be able to do anything but smile and pretend they don't want to commit violence
GOD I love a good ending
11/10
I do wish we found out what each of the princes lost to the curse though 👀

KotFE chapters ranked best to worst
Just finished kotfe chapter 16 for the second time, so i feel like rating them
disclaimer - highly personal, highly Vaylin based.
KotFE chapter 8 - Taking Flight - Best of the chapters, 8/10. It has some prime Vaylin/Senya interaction, and they are some of the best characters in KotFE, and we get more of how Vaylin thinks and the knowledge Senya is not willing to kill her own kids. You also get to have a cute moment with your love interest if you romance Lana or Koth I think. Arcann appears, if you’re into that.
KotFE chapter 16 - Battle of Odessen - Second best chapter, 7 or 8 out of 10. Again, rated high for the Vaylin/Senya interaction. This is the last place you genuinely assume they are trying to give Vaylin a character arc, especially with how she reacts to SCORPIO taking the fleet at the end, and her dialogue with Senya. Senya gets to mirror her response to her children earlier, by asking Arcann and Vaylin to come with her. This is also the only time i found Arcann like genuinely interesting and relatable - earlier in Kotfe, he’s a boring generic villain who wants to kill destroy planets to go after his father, in Kotet he seems to being yanked around by w/e. Never finished Kotet, so maybe that will change but.
KotFE chapter 15 - the GEMINI deception - third best, 7/10. This was one of the twists SWTOR pulls off without me feeling like they’re just trying to make a twist of the sake of it - it fits the characters 100 percent, and I like it when characters motivations cause them to work against each other, even if we’d all love them to be friends. Also, we got to see more in depth in the GEMINI droids and SCORPIO, and SCORPIO is just really cool
KotFE chapter 11 - Disavowed - fourth best, 6.5/10. I’ll confess, this rating was entirely based on playing Republic Trooper. I got my only companion back who appears in the chapters, and not alliance missions, and I just loved the reunion scene. Otherwise, the plot seemed kind of bland TBH
KotFE chapters 4 and 5 - The Gravestone and  From the Grave - These ones are listed together cuz I always forget where one starts and the other ends. But at least a solid 6/10. Either way - the plot makes no sense, we just stumble upon the most important ship, becuz, but they are rated semi highly because of the crew interaction - I wish we got more of the characters talking to and bickering with each other like this in vanilla game. It is A+.
KotFE chapter 7 - Our Lady of Sorrows - 5.5/10. It had SCORPIO in it and that’s cool, and we got to see a little bit of worldbuilding on Zakuul. Koth mentions the place you visit (forget the name RIP me) as being hand-to-mouth and hard to live in even when he was a kid - so we know things weren’t all paradise-y when Valkorion was in charge, even though he tries to convince us so. It’s nice to see another dimension to things.
KotFE chapter 14 - Mandalore’s Revenge - 5/10. It was cool to see the mandalorians, and we all love Shae, and I think she and my outlander and my outlander and Torian got some pretty cool interaction in. I liked that the fact that our characters were solving everything by shooting it felt natural (like it made sense in story). Not much else to say.
KotFE chapter 10 - Anarchy in Paradise - all right, we’ve gotten past the chapters that are good enough for me to rate them on their virtues (or unfairly boosted in rating cuz I like a reunion scene) and now just have to rate them on me liking characters. 4.5 out of 10. I love Kaliyo, but was kind of bored by the rest of the plot. If you asked me upon pain of death to say what happens here other than “Kaliyo and you blow something up” - you know, the intermediate stages between when you get the mission and when it ends - I would be fucked cuz it was just so unmemorable. Also if you play as a female outlander and try to flirt with Kaliyo, she says some really shitty stuff that was clearly just (probably straight male) writers putting shit in a bi girls mouth - like girls are only good for head games, implying guys are for real relationships. you know. this is called... homophobia. Get better, bioware.
KotFE chapter 13 - Profits and Plunder - 4/10. I love Vette but am super bored by Gault, and it seemed like it focused more on Gault than Vette so I was bored. Also some characters reactions seemed to be written just to make Gault seem more cool/competent (like those guys who assume a guy is trying to save money by blowing himself and them up and just leave? or Lana getting angry at him for beating her at cards? didn’t she say she didn’t play in chapter 9 or w/e anyway?) than he actually is. anyway the rest was fine. Not super exciting would’ve been higher because of Vette’s scenes if she didn’t have to share the stage with Gault who seemed to take up more than his fair share of it.
KotFE chapter 6 - Asylum - 3.5/10. This chapter was so unremarkable I don’t remember anything about it. Vik shows up I guess? And Tora? And the Scions who seem to be in there just so the writers can add some more destiny into the mix.
KotFE chapter 9 - Alliance - 3. something? out of 10. rather dull, we make speeches that seem both OOC and badly written.
KotFE chapter 3 - Outlander - 3/10 the chapters are no longer enjoyable to play even a little. I can’t comment anything on the plot because of the excess of boring skytrooper kills. Very boring. Would not recommend.
KotFE chapter 1 - The Hunt - 2.5/10. Again, just exceptionally exceptionally dull. Often, the cahractres lines (especially Marr’s, Valkorion’s, and Arcann’s) felt over the top like they were trying to make things sound extra dramatic. Too many cutscenes, if I’m playing to get my comps or star fortresses and not for plot, I just space through this entire thing practically.
KotFE chapter 12 - Visions in the Dark - 1.5/10. This makes no sense as a non-Force using outlander. It’s dull, we have to hear Valkorion’s stupid voice, etc.
KotFE chapter 2 - Dream of an Empire - 0/10. Hands down THE WORST kotfe chapter, which is saying something. You spend the entire time in carbon sleep, being talked at (not “to”, cuz nothing you say affects anything) by Valkorion. He’s boring, thinks he’s better than everyone else, an objectively awful person, etc. There are also flashbacks of characters you faced earlier, to remind you of how much less boring the rest of the game was.

KINGDOM OF THE FEARED SPOILERS
Alright so, Kerri really focused on Wrath and Emilia, the curse, Vittoria and the revelations and tying of knots.
The plot was something I hope more books would have (reccos pleasee) ones with demons, witches, past lives, reincarnations and fantasy stuff. THAT was what captured me when reading KOTF because I can't really find good books that have those sort of plots without being boring.
There was world building, a lot of descriptions about the place, the dresses and the designs of where the events were set in so the majestic-ness of the room was emphasized.
Kerri's writing style was nice but I did rush over some paragraphs because I feel like those are slowing me down from getting the right pieces of the story together.
I LOVED the characters. Their backstories, their goals, the actions that they made to achieve them, and how no one really is "good" as all of them did quite terrible (sometimes understandable, other times not) things. I was drawn with the reincarnation / past life part just because I really wanted to know why Emilia and Vittoria were having these powers and whatnot. Safe to say, I was greatly satisfied with what Kerri delivered.
BUT, I feel like we were robbed of the backstory and more scenes of all the Houses interacting. House Vengeance included. I am sooo interested in the dynamics of the Princes and the twins because they all are so powerful and I wanna know more about their manipulative and bitchy sides.
Also, them combining forces would be something that would destroy enemies in an instant but would, show how vital they each are in proceeding with their goals.
Next, I also want to get more scenes of the First Witch and Pride. I want a scene with Claudia and Pride even if Claudia chooses not to remember and Pride would just (at least) let her live the life that she has now, without letting her remember their past. (because it was partly his fault that she's miserable)
Overall, this book really answered a lot of my questions (pretty early in the book) that rose after reading KOTC. Kerri dropped a lot of hints throught the books so some "discoveries" about the characters, I pretty much guessed already before the truth was revealed. (still kept me wanting and unmasking more though)
The spice, was nice. *chef's kiss*
Honorable mention to WRATH's WINGS (that I beg artists to make fanarts of; I imagine it looking somehow like the wings in the Fallen movie but more metallic and solid; I am a SUCKER for wings) and to the coat of arms / logo of House Vengeance, hi to you too, I want you.
That's pretty much a cool review of KOTF from me and if you asked me if I would recommend it? Yes. Definitely. Now that all three books are out you can definitely devour them and I don't think they would bore you out. So, it's a ⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!

Kotf spoilers
Review/ rant idk?? I finished the book ok
Ok so I just read it kotf and I’m a little upset that there isn’t another book or at least a novella or some small book to tie up lose ends.
I highly feared wrath would die, he didn’t😅 I loved the love, devotion between wrath and Emilia. Even though she was something other she didn’t let her humanity be stripped away and instead let it guide her and used it as her anchor. Wrath helped some things but overall she saved herself, she chose. I loved the moments between her and the rest of the princes the development between her and envy I adored. They really are her brothers❤️ and Victoria is still her sister and they both came around to accept eachother and their decisions, I think the amount of emotional roller coaster between them really highlighted in this book. Especially since Emilia’s family guide and anchor her and her choices.
But with that said another book? Or even a small one shot? Victoria pov next??? To tie what the hell is going on between envy x Victoria x pride (which btw who saw that coming?) and victora x pride x lucina and who does Victoria love? Domenico? Pride? Is she lusting after envy or is it love rooted in hate?!
And wth is going on between the witches?! Like Emilia obviously still cares for Nonna Maria and it gives glimpses of her caring for Emilia. Like it left with the witches still at large, their coven regrouping and the one witch woken up like tf?? And did celeste choose to go back with pride or is content with her escape from him?
And can wrath and Emilia have kids bc like it would be so cute for them to be parents and all the princes(s) basically declare war everytime they want to see their niece or nephew
Overall I loved the book, the spice🤌the slow burn was worth the wait, and the twist of they were in the shifting isles the whole time like whattt and did that mean domenico live there or did he actually live in the mortal world?? So many questions but I’m glad it ended with wrath and Emilia being endgame and the princes welcomed their new queen/ sister

Rosalind in flf is perfectly described in labyrinth
Like “It only hurts this much right now, Was what I was thinking the whole time”
“Breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out”
“It only feels this raw right now, lost in the labyrinth of my mind”
“You know how much I hate, that everybody just expects me to bounce back, just like that”
And when she realises she is falling for Orion :
“I'll be gettin' over you my whole life”
“Uh-oh, I'm fallin' in love, Oh no, I'm fallin' in love again”
“I thought the plane was goin' down, how'd you turn it right around?”
“You would break your back to make me break a smile” (we all know that orion would!!!)

Rain Plays SWTOR: Optional Companion Reviews/Info
Tumblr media
Given that several companions are being offered with Galactic Seasons, it's time to revisit this post on optional companions.
You get five class companions and a ship droid, plus many more in KOTFE/KOTET and onward. Why would you even want optional companions? Simple:
-  If you can’t stand your class story companions, they can act as replacements while you quest. You might find that one of your toons seems to get along with one of them. They usually can craft, and some of them, like Darth Hexid, seem really good at it. Some, like Shae Vizla, have very strong DPS; others like Z0-OM have excellent healing.
- Most of the companions also have small recruitment missions attached to them; many have achievements.
- It's fun and adds variety to your game.
Subscription Rewards: As the name suggests, these companions were obtained by being subscribed to the game at a certain time. There was no other action required. All three are now offered in the Galactic Seasons vendor for 5 tokens.
Shae Vizla
Nico Okarr
Paxton Rall
All three of these characters have recruitment missions/conversations that can be accessed once you get to a certain point in KOTFE and complete "To Find a Findsman." However, these characters ALSO come with a “communicator” that you can use to add them to your companion list without the recruitment scene as early as Level 1 if you don’t want to wait (you can still do their recruitment missions later). Yes, you can run around Tython or Korriban with Shae, Nico or Paxton if you want.
If you received Nico, Shae or Paxton as a subscription reward they are unlocked free for your legacy. Every new character you create will receive mail with the item that can summon them. If you received Nico, Shae or Paxton through Galactic Seasons you will need to pay 10 CC to unlock each for your legacy.
IMPACT ON MAIN STORY:
Shae Vizla is the only one of these companions with a substantial impact and inclusion in the story. As you may know, you encounter Shae during Shadow of Revan, and again during a chapter of KOTFE. She may send you mail later, depending on story decisions. She's also heavily included in the Spirit of Vengeance storyline and has several cut scenes on the Odessen base.
SHAE IS IN YOUR STORY REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE THE COMPANION. However, if you do have the companion and bring her along to meet Indigo on Mek-Sha in Onslaught, she will have special, specific dialogue.
If you have Paxton Rall before completing Hearts & Minds, there is one line of dialogue in which he’s mentioned. You can also click on Paxton if he’s in the Odessen cantina or out as a deco in your stronghold to chat with him.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Paxton Rall: There is a “cantina crawl” achievement not directly tied to the companion. You click on Paxton Rall when you find him in cantinas on the worlds you visit.
Nico Okarr: There’s an achievement for completing Nico’s Alliance Alert. There’s another if you waited until the Alliance Alert to recruit him, ie you didn’t use the holocommunicator to summon Nico before KOTFE.
QUALITY OF COMBAT/HEALING: All three of these companions are formidable, especially at influence level 50. All three are ranged. Shae is known for being a particularly strong DPS with some abilities pulled from the Mercenary rotation, including Death From Above.
Hexid/Ranos Darth Hexid: Originally could be earned by completing three flashpoints or warzones of any difficulty via group finder. Now requires 40 flashpoints or uprisings. Unlocked free for the legacy.
Master Dazh Ranos: This companion was originally a reward in the Dark vs. Light event. She is now available from the Galactic Seasons vendor for six tokens. Can be unlocked for legacy with 10 CCs if you got her through GS. Otherwise, if you earned her through DvL, every character you create will get a mail with the item that summons her.
Both Hexid and Ranos have Alliance Alerts once you get to KOTFE, complete "To Find a Findsman" and get to a certain point. However, like Shae/Nico/Paxton, they come with a communicator that allows you to unlock and use them whenever you want.
IMPACT ON MAIN STORY: Darth Hexid will send you a letter after Ossus which differs with your faction. I’m not sure if Ranos does. Both Ranos and Hexid can also tell you about missing class story Force-sensitive companions who have not yet returned at that point in the narrative, if you ask. Otherwise, none. Ranos and Hexid both hang out in the Force enclave after being recruited; you can click on them to chat.
QUALITY OF COMBAT/HEALING: Like the subscription companions, Ranos and Hexid are absolute powerhouses, especially if you get them to influence level 50. I took Ranos through the Umbara flashpoint with my squishiest, hardest to play Jedi character, and they rocked it. Hexid can literally clear content on her own when she's still set on heals. Darth Hexid also has some very charming battle banter and ambient comments.
Tumblr media
Caption: Master Ranos: I'm not that kind of Jedi. I don't want to change you, I want to join you.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Darth Hexid: There is currently an achievement, “With a Little Help from My Friends,” for completing the correct number of uprisings/flashpoints/etc. to earn Hexid.
Master Ranos: I’m unfamiliar with the DvL achievements but I imagine there was one for her.
THE HKS AND OTHER DROID FRIENDS
You only need to complete the recruitment mission(s) once, but each subsequent character must pay an unlock fee to gain the companion:
HK-51: Can be earned by completing a mission arc that includes several different quests and flashpoints on numerous worlds. HK-51 requires an unlock fee for each character who wants him, but you do not have to run the original missions again.
IMPACT ON STORY: If you bring HK-51 as your companion in the False Emperor flashpoint (you know, the really long one with Malgus), there is special dialogue when you encounter HK-47. In addition. HK-51 has his own series of companion conversations. HK-51 also appears briefly in KOTFE chapter 9 with a couple of lines if you have him.
ACHIEVEMENTS: There is an achievement for 100 and 1000 kills with HK-51 as your active companion.
Must be earned on every character who wants them:
Each of your characters actually has to run the missions to obtain the companions.
HK-55: Was originally a companion for all in KOTFE, but was killed off in the story. Was able to return via Arma Rasa, an Alliance Alert mission. If you subscribed to SWTOR at a certain point you got free access to this mission; if not you can now buy it as a bundle with Shroud of Memory in the Cartel Market. It unlocks for all characters who get to Chapter 9 of KOTFE and complete "To Find a Findsman."
ZO-0M: Available via the Shroud of Memory chapter. This was once given as a subscription reward but now comes bundled with Arma Rasa as a Cartel Market purchase.
IMPACT ON STORY: Arma Rasa has no impact on the main story, and unfortunately HK-55 never appears there again. However, if you complete Shroud of Memory before doing the Iokath section of the game (post-KOTET), one of Lana’s lines will be different.
ACHIEVEMENTS: There are several associated with completion of Arma Rasa and Shroud of Memory.
COMBAT/HEALING: ZO-0M is known as one of the strongest healing companions in the game. She's not bad in combat, either. The HKs are okay, with 55 being slightly stronger than 51 in my experience.
Galactic Seasons
Altuur Zok Adon
This companion is granted to everyone - subscribers, free to play and preferred alike - in level 1 of Galactic Seasons. The gifts needed to raise him to high influence are also earned in various GS levels, but some are only available on the subscriber track.
IMPACT ON MAIN STORY: None as of July 2021. He has a small alliance alert conversation.
ACHIEVEMENTS: There are achievements for getting him to influence level 50 and for killing a certain number of insectoid NPCs with him as your active compaion.
COMBAT/HEALING: He's good. He has some very unique skills and is pretty high powered.
The Star Fortress companions
Once you reach Odessen and finish chapter 9 of KOTFE (or have skipped to KOTET) you can do these missions. You need to pick up the Star Fortress story arc on the Odessen base (the quest giver is in the hallway outside the military wing). You’ll run a story version of the Star Fortress, and then run individual quests with each of these companions on different planets. Once those are complete you can earn each companion by running the VETERAN level Star Fortress for their planet. The Veteran SF can be soloed, but it has become more difficult than it was before 6.0.
These companions were reviewed here: https://rainplaysswtor.tumblr.com/post/190237305230/rainofaugustsith-yay-star-fortress-companions
Veeroa Denz (Nar Shaddaa)
Choza Rabat (Alderaan)
Rokuss (Voss)
Hemdil Tre (Hoth)
Khk’hrol (Belsavis)
Deadeye Leyta (Tatooine)
IMPACT ON MAIN STORY: If you have Rokuss recruited before doing the first chapter of KOTET (about Voss) there will be dialogue about him, a few different background NPCs and one bonus mission auto-completed for you. All of these companions also send you an email once recruited. Otherwise, these companions have no influence over the story.
ACHIEVEMENTS: There are numerous achievements for the Star Fortress gameplay and completion. All of the companions have achievements for completing 100 and 1000 kills. There are also achievements for recruiting each of the companions.
COMBAT/HEALING: Veeroa Denz, Kkhrol, and Rokuss are first-class companions who will support your characters well. Choza Raabat is virtually useless with very weak sage skills. Leyta and Hemdil Tre are middle of the road.

J’iro once again got the honor of being my first toon through the latest content.  Spoiler city below the cut!
Okay.  Anyone at Bioware or any Bioware-adjacent companies, if you’re listening or can get this message to them somehow:
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GROGU CAN WE STOP FIGHTING THE SAME TWO GUYS FOR A WHILE? I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE EMPEROR AND DARTH MALGUS TO LAST ME A LIFETIME.  IT’S BEEN 9 FUCKING YEARS.  CAN WE *PLEASE* MOVE ON?!?!?!????
*ahem*
Now that I got that out of the way...
Yeah, I am totally over Tenebrae/Vitiate/Valkorian popping up in Yet Another Goddamn Form Because He’s The Emperor And Fuck You.  All of the cameos at the end of the final-no-really-we-mean-it-this-time fight (Syo!  Suri!  Master Surro!  etc!) were cool, but I’m so done with this guy I all I could think was “oh hey it’s GamemasterAnthony’s Birthday again.”  And killing every form of the Emperor at once felt a lot like the ending of Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow, when they had to kill Vandal Savage in three time periods to finally get rid of him.  (...maybe that’s not the best analogy, since he popped up again in a later season.   oh fuck now I’ve done it)
As far as other reappearances go:
Revan. I actually said “this motherfucker AGAIN?” out loud when he showed up.  Not quite as tired of him as I am of the Emperor, but let’s give this dude a rest, PLEASE.
DARTH MARR!  One of the few characters I don’t mind seeing pop up again, because he’s always been way too good for everyone around him.
Meetra Surik!  In non-ghost form!  I am down for this.
Vaylin/Thexan.  Mixed reviews on these two.  First impression, “didn’t we settle their shit in KOTET Ch 9?”  Thought it was really nice that you could finally apologize to Vaylin; doesn’t quite make up for how badly she got treated but it’s something.  Seeing Arcann and Thexan fight together was pretty cool.  And of course I took the [Flirt] option with Vaylin.
Satele.  The only one we knew would come back.  Nothing unexpected, I guess, but THANK YOU for not killing her off.
That final fight, when you get all those temporary abilities for your buddies?  I got click-happy and just hit whichever one was off cooldown.  XD  Way too much happening for me to do much other than “take cover, shoot, shoot, Hightail It to get out of shit, repeat.”  I’ll have to take a closer look at the abilities on a later run.
Disregarding my feelings about That Fucking Guy coming back again, the story was pretty good.  The ship that Satele and her students were on was appropriately creepy, and I do like that the Hand and the Scions - possibly the most fanatical of That Fucking Guy’s followers (aside from those poor Zealots stuck on Nathema) - were the ones to find it.  And then we got to trip balls inside Satele’s head!  Another appropriately creepy locale.  Between the ship and the mindscape I spent damn near the whole run waiting for some creepy shit to jump out.  A+ mood, can’t wait to freak myself out again.
The new flashpoint definitely had me hooked (despite the excessive trash mobs) - it’s really too bad that it’s bugged, I want to see how things go with Marshal Kol!  Cool concept, cool layout, cool new character.  A bit of platforming to get your heart rate up, and later an intentional huge drop to REALLY get your heart rate up, and lol I’m a Gunslinger so I’ll just Hightail It away from the tentacles.
The best part about the new stuff?  The visuals.  The look of everything was fucking top-notch.
The creepy-ass ship that had a lot of STUFF in it, crates and supplies and a whole crapton of other things you’d expect in a ship that’s on a journey of indeterminate length.  The members and minions of The Hand, lots of distinctive looks in faces and armor yet still unified.  The overall feeling that something here has gone horribly wrong.
Satele’s mindscape that was its own unique thing, and still had echoes of other places - KOTET Ch 9 of course, but also KOTFE Ch 2, KOTFE Ch 12, and the Raptus & Calphayus fights in Dread Palace.  The stark contrast between the dim rocky landscape and bright memories of Tython.  The creepy mobs.  Lots of places to fall to your death, several times.  Even the little glowing bits (fungi?) felt not quite right.
The ships in the Spirit of Vengeance!  More ships that felt lived-in; lots of supplies and weapons and mobs (even if you have to fight a billion of them.)  Again, a super-cool layout overall.  And I could have spent hours just looking around The Fortune’s Folly!  (To-do for future runs - cheevo hunting!)
Overall, mostly good, and as always I’m eager to see how things turn out with different characters.  J’iro romanced Akaavi, sided with the Republic on Iokath & Ossus, and rejoined the Republic at the end of Onslaught so he’s now Commodore.  It’ll be fun to see how this goes with a Force-user, a Saboteur, an Imperial-aligned toon, a Theron/Lana/Kira/Scourge romancer, etc.

tri (mell) really went from sad, scared baby wrath to slightly less scared but still traumatized as hell commander. did i purchase three new hairstyles (one not pictured bc i got sleepy and took a nap before i could start jedi under siege) and way more than three armor sets because showing time progression is fun if not also surprisingly costly? yes.
time progression:
-pic 1: during chapters 3-9
-pic 2: chapters 9 to the end of kotfe
-pic 3: kotet-fractured alliances
-pic 4: umbara & nathema conspiracy
in all seriousness i had a lot of fun with this expansion, but i am a tad curious about my upcoming pubside run. originally i was going to run it with naji (miv), who’s tri’s sister, but then i realized half the story is dedicated to force users specifically. so instead, either winnie (my brand new mirialan smug) or hakio (my troop) is going to run through forged alliances-nathema. i’ll update you on the results and my review when i finish.
i also lost my mask at some point when i switched into a new armor set (2-3), and im rather sad i lost it bc all the other masks are like a million credits and i’ve had that one since tri was a literal baby (19, dromound kaas) and she’d done some heroic in the jungles. i want it back but i figure it’s better i leave her like this because it shows she’s changing :/

Hey there, as a little boost of my own stuff, since i’ve gotten a handful of new followers lately. My name’s Shey and while I post a random assortment of stuff (mostly Anthem, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Warcraft, SWTOR, with some Marvel and other stuff mixed in) I’m also an artist and a writer! And as such, I’d like to make a request for any comments or reviews if anyone checks out my stuff. I absolutely adore any and all reactions of my stuff, be it art or fics or even OC designs. I’d love to hear anything people have to say. :D
I have an art tag here on tumblr at: http://sheyshen.tumblr.com/tagged/my-art
And I have references to all my OCs I’ll ramble about here: http://sheyshen.tumblr.com/tagged/shey-talks-about-her-OCs
And below are all my fics that I have written with a little synopsis of sorts that are currently on Ao3! (I apologize ahead of time, i have the hardest time coming up with titles and summaries.)
Shall We Dance (Fairy Tail - (complete) Laxus/Lucy fic, and also the first I ever wrote. Includes a singular OC of mine that I used as a villain so I wouldn’t make anyone from the series into something they aren’t.): https://archiveofourown.org/works/4351550/chapters/9870611
Dawning (Dragon Age 2 - (complete) Short short Hawke/Fenris fic. Like super short.): https://archiveofourown.org/works/5710843
Breaking the Bad News (SWTOR - (ongoing) follows my smuggler, Kara, post KOTET and her relationship with Theron and Arcann. Includes a handful of my other OCs as well as my mom’s Jedi who is my smuggler’s dad): https://archiveofourown.org/works/9340892/chapters/21164699
Desert Reunion (SWTOR - (complete) Just a quick fic that Blue and I were talking about, about Kara tracking her dad down sometime during kotfe/kotet. Pairing is only Kara/Theron in this): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8319808/chapters/19053571
Adventure of a Lifetime (SWTOR - (hiatus?) Follows Kara during the class stories to probably Ziost, just to build on what the game provides since she does have 2 kids during that time. I really want to work on this one again): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8319724/chapters/19053241
Downtime (SWTOR - (complete) just a short insight I suppose, of Kara while the Odessen base was under construction): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8319946
That Time Back When We First Met (SWTOR - (hiatus?) Follows my pub trooper, Mikael, and my sith marauder, Nora, and how they met before getting married. Ironically they have the most stable relationship out of my OCs): https://archiveofourown.org/works/11186964/chapters/24976812
Admittance (SWTOR - (complete) Oneshot of my agent, Airi, and Theron. And him finding out about her being part of the SIS (yes. she took Ardun’s offer ;) ): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8319640
A Moment (SWTOR - (complete) Oneshot of Kara and Arcann having a bit of a bonding moment before their relationship started. I wrote this before kotet was released so most of it was assumption based on datamine): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8319478
A Moment, Reprised (SWTOR - (complete) oneshot to follow the one above, but more... risque. first attempt at writing this sort of thing. I refuse to call it a lemon guys, I’m 27 I already lived through that stage I don’t want to go back. The pair is Kara and Arcann, placed sometime after Umbara): https://archiveofourown.org/works/10796721
A Smuggler’s Tyr (SWTOR - (hiatus?) follows Kara before the class stories when she first joined her crew after leaving Rishi (she was just a runaway padawan at that point and had stupid plans) The plan for this is to lead up to the class stories and meeting Corso and Skavak): https://archiveofourown.org/works/14756012/chapters/34120259
Hawke Legacy: While Kara Sleeps (SWTOR - (complete) Blue came up with the title, but it follows Koro after his sister is taken captive by Arcann): https://archiveofourown.org/works/15610458
Moving On (SWTOR - (complete) A lovely second attempt at something saucy, but focuses on my other marauder, Trey, and my merc, Koren): https://archiveofourown.org/works/17194907
Fictober 2018 (SWTOR - (complete) A collection of all the fictober prompts I finished last year. Some are focused on Kara and Arcann, Koren and Trey, Kara Theron and Arcann, Nora and Mikael, and Kara and her first husband, Caleb.): https://archiveofourown.org/works/16513625/chapters/38679158
Prompts and Things (SWTOR (but might include others eventually too) Just a collection of prompts I get. If anyone wants to send prompts my way I’d love it and would add them there as well as post them on here): https://archiveofourown.org/works/18080120/chapters/42734954
Lunar Eclipse (WoW (hiatus) Old fic I started years ago and I really want to work on some more. Focuses on a Night Elf priestess, Aulara, and a Blood Elf hunter, Kieran and them going through the various events that happen throughout azeroth and the outlands and etc): https://archiveofourown.org/works/11268282/chapters/25197150
Enjoy! And like I said above, any and all comments or reviews or just keysmash replies are not only appreciated but encouraged and adored. I’m not even close to kidding, they’ll make my day I guarantee it.

✩🗡🔥Review:
Kerri Maniscalco’s final book, “Kingdom of the Feared,” is one hell of a ride!
Maniscalco turns up the heat in Wrath and Emilia’s relationship. The pain, deception, and suffering that they have experienced is no match for the love they have for one another. Though the explicit scenes were a bit too numerous for me personally, romantasy readers will love the steamy direction this book takes!
At the same time that Wrath and Emilia’s relationship is developing further, so too is Emilia as a character. I absolutely love her character arc throughout this series. At the start of book 1, Emilia is very innocent and naive. By book 2, she is consumed by wrath and vengeance stemming from the murder of her sister. In this final book, the reader is exposed to a more merciful side of Emilia. Despite all of the trials and tribulations she has faced as a result of uncovering her past, Emilia is willing to let go and move on to get her happily ever after.
Unfortunately, that hard won happily ever after is overshadowed by loose threads that are not fully resolved by the book’s end. Deep down I am secretly hoping that these threads will get tugged on in a future spin-off series (fingers crossed).
For now, Maniscalco’s shocking twists more than make up for any feelings of discontent. The revelations that were made all throughout the book had me constantly backtracking and re-evaluating the previous novels. I thoroughly enjoyed every bombshell and was left agape more times than one.
Maniscalco also uses Emilia to introduce the reader to Sloth, the seventh prince of hell who did not grace the pages of “Kingdom of the Wicked” and “Kingdom of the Cursed.” While he outwardly appears lazy, looks can be deceiving. His unique characterization makes it clear that he is just as wicked as his brothers.
Over the span of several late nights spent reading “Kingdom of the Wicked” and “Kingdom of the Cursed,” I grew rather attached to the characters and the world that Maniscalco created. While I am sad that “Kingdom of the Feared” marks the end of Emilia and Wrath’s story, I am at peace knowing that it also marks the beginning of their long rule over the seven circles.
