Who wants to see ancient Neoshipping fankids? ... we're not waiting for an answer, meet... I think their names were Miya (no relation to Miyamoto, I just thought it was cute) and Kuri. Yeah, he's just named chestnut, I don't remember why, my rp partner at the time named him, but it's very Pokemon a name, I think. Trees, flowers, nuts...
The little boy was just blonde Masato (Max) a little nerd. Can't believe I didn't give him a pocket protector for all those pens.
The little girl was cutesy and mischievous and carried a Teddiursa Poke Doll with a GUN IN ITS HEAD (sadly not depicted, because I did not know how to draw Teddiursa... or guns, for that matter.) I think I definitely got the idea from Baby Doll in Batman: the Animated Series, fff.
I don't know why they're both blonde, is Kosaburo's green hair that recessive a trait... xD;;;
The boy's hair is so...... unfortunate.... or it would be incredibly mundane and NPC-like, if I knew proper anatomy at all.
Bonus art: Nurse Joy, chibi Takeshi (Brock), and a very cute Kenji (Tracey.)
#Neoshipping#Nurse Joy#Brock#Ttacey Sketchit#Team Rocket Butch#old art#my childhood#Pokemon#Kosaburo#Butch#original characters#wait does that mean I recycled the Teddiursa plush idea for Serisa... but they're common as teddies I'm sure!!

Episode 57 - The Secret of the Breeding Center
This episode features a Pokemon Day Care! Ash got lost in the woods and somehow wound up north of Cerulean way back when, so he never encountered the one on Route 5. This is his first time hearing about the concept.
Of course, these days most of us just use these places for breeding. But leveling up your Pokemon while you're away was the original intent. And Misty seizes just such an opportunity to make her Psyduck into a serious, competitive Pokemon without having to put the work in herself.
Unfortunately, the care center turns out to be a Team Rocket front. And not, like, Jessie and James's latest scheme, but a legitimate Rocket front under Giovanni's supervision. (Opening a Pokemon Day Care and then making off with all the Pokemon people check in is a pretty clever Rocket scheme, gotta say.) The op's being managed by new antagonists Kosaburo/Butch and Yamato/Cassidy.
Once discovered, the legitimate Rockets prove significantly more formidable than Jessie and James. They apprehend everybody but Misty in short order (including Jessie and James, who ignorantly showed up to rob Team Rocket's Day Care.)
But courtesy of new guy Todd's tendency to photograph everything, Misty's able to turn over evidence of Butch and Cassidy's operation to Officer Jenny, and the police shut down the operation. Although they're not pushovers like Jessie and James, Butch and Cassidy also aren't as slippery either, and prove unable to escape.
This win lets Todd bow out on a high note. As Ash continues on to Cinnabar Island, Todd goes his separate way.
(Also James has a Victreebel now. We never saw him catch it but it's in his possession as of this episode. Um. Okay.)

Did you know that a Japanese samurai is buried in a village in Northern Catalonia? 🏯 Here's how he ended up in the other side of the world.
Nomura Kosaburo was born in a samurai family in 19th-century Okayama (Japan). His father was a retainer of the Bizen province, serving Lord Ikeda's family. When he was 12 years old, his father died and he inherited his stipends, becoming a samurai himself.
In 1869, he started attending the Army Officers' School “heigaku-ryō” in Osaka (Japan). The school selected 10 of its students to go study in different schools in France. The young Kosaburo was one of the chosen ones, and was sent to the Lycée Louis le Grand in Paris (France). He studied mathematics and received excellent grades, and was scheduled to join a staff officer school, but his plans were cut short when he contracted Tuberculosis.
In 1878, he was advised to go to Southern France, because its dry air was recommended for the treatment of illnesses such as Tuberculosis. He chose the village of Els Banys i Palaldà (Northern Catalonia), a spa town known for its termal water since Ancient Roman times and which had recently built a new military hospital.
Nomura did not survive the illness, he died in 1876. He was buried in the local cemetery, in the tomb you can see in the photos above. The Japanese text means "Tomb of Nomura Kosaburo, Japanese Military Cadet". Below, a text in French says "Here lies Kosaburo Nomura, Japanese military student. Died in Amélie-les-Bains on June 26th 1876 at the age of 21. Perpetual concession." (Amélie-les-Bains is the French name for the village).
His tomb was almost forgotten for 130 years, but now the association Les Amis de Kosaburo - Kosaburo no tomodachi ("Friends of Kosaburo") study his history and preserve his memory in Els Banys i Palaldà and Okayama.

The fun part about characters' names being written in katakana is obscuring the meaning or being able to be interprered many different ways. For example, Brock's Japanese name Takeshi, could be written as bamboo-will or rock-mountain depending on which kanji you use.
We know that Bashou and Buson take their names from haiku masters and we know Buson's named for his loyalty and devotion to Bashou, but Buson's high rank, design, and military aesthetics suggest a different possible meaning and kanji spelling, which might also explain the dub's choice of Attila and Hun...
Poet Bashou took his pen name from the banana tree, gifted to him by a pupil. His hermitage at the temple was shaded by the banana tree, so it became known as the basho-an.
it fell into disrepair by Buson's time. Buson spent money restoring it and built a monument to Bashou there, even asking to be buried next to it, a request that was honoured, and his own disciples were buried around him.
Poet Buson's name is written with the characters for turnip-village. He was also calked Yosa no Buson, Yosa taken from the name of his mother's birthplace. Buson was born in Tennoji, which was then known for its turnips, so Buson is turnip-village.
Another way to write Buson is with these kanji:
武尊
Meaning:
武 Strong and courageous. Strong-willed. warrior. soldier. Battle. War. Military. War potential. Weapons. Overcome. Surpass.
尊 Respect. A high value or rank. A word expressing respect. A title of respect attached to the name of a deity or noble person.
So, that's 武 (bu, same as in bushidou) meaning “martial, military, warrior, arms” and 尊 (son) which is a mark of respect and used for nobility and deities.
Attila the Hun, a famous warlord, dubbed the Scourge of God, therefore feels fitting.
'Attila (pronounced: “atilla”) is a modern transcript of the name of the Hunnic ruler of the 5th century AD. Its origin is debated, either a Germanic exonym (meaning “respectful father”), or Turkish (in this case it means “father of the earth”) or Mongol (it can mean simply “ruler”).'
Both names are war-like, befitting a warrior, soldier... and a weapon. They also suggest lofty rank, fitting a high ranking agent who tries to capture a Legendary Pokemon (and later succeeds at capturing another!)
... this one is probably simply serendipity, but Buson being based on the tanuki archtype (contrasting with Bashou's kitsune archtype*), tanuki having a weakness for wine and women, and Attila the Hun's mysterious and shady death on his wedding night to a woman who asked for his help to be freed from an unwanted marriage (she sent him a letter and a gift and he either misunderstood or willfully misinterpreted it as a proposal to him, so went to war ostensibly for her sake) was either assassinated/somehow poisoned by his wife or the bleeding was caused by his drinking problem.
#(anyway so I'm a soldier/warrior/killing machine but like a high-ranking one and maybe they think I'll drink myself to death) -Buson probabl#The Legend of Thunder#The Legend of Thunder!#Team Rocket#Team Rocket Attila#Team Rocket Hun#Bashou#Buson#... designated dad by his dub name also pfft#I can't share art yet but soon!!! ... soon I will have wi-fi!!!#until then have text posts from my drafts#Kojiro and Musashi and Kosaburo and Yamato genuinely have those themed names so I think Buson's name might genuinely be his#but it'd also be cute if it's a codename to match Bashou's#higher ranking Rockets sometimes have odd or even western names like Sgt. Viper and Domino and Vicious#Gozu has the name of a guardian of Hell in the Japanese version of Chinese legends but he's not partnered with a Mezu but Matori...#is Gozu a name a paeent would give their child? I wonder if he previously had a partner with a name that matched...#the tags are more relevant to roleplaying#I like the idea of Buson's actual name being written the same way but read differently (Takeru is a more common and modern sounding reading#history#death#alcohol * mention

Artworks and descriptions of Jessie, James, Butch & Cassidy to promote the episode 95 of « Pokemon Journeys »
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Musashi (V.A: Megumi Hayashibara)
"A well-known member of the Team Rocket. Her beauty and unconventional thought processes, befitting the image of an 'evil organization's woman,' are irresistibly charming as she energetically interacts with Satoshi and Pikachu again today."
Kojiro (V.A Shinichiro Miki)
"A Team Rocket member who remains unwaveringly loyal to the boss, Sakaki. However, he often finds himself under the control of his partner, Musashi. Will the day arrive when his sincere efforts bear fruit?"
Kosaburo (V.A: Takehito Koyasu)
A member of Team Rocket and Yamato's partner. His identity used to be that no one could correctly call his name, but will that change in this reappearance?"
Yamato (voiced by Masako Katsuki)
A beautiful and strong-willed female elite of Team Rocket, matching even Musashi in beauty and strength. In previous series, she used to view Musashi as a rival in various ways, but...?"
For any farming game you like: 🥔(Potato), 🍄(Mushroom)
i have...so many favorite non-romanceable npc's lmao what if i'm extra and list them all under a read more? yea that sounds fun
fave non-romanceable character(s):
I have to start with Nik, Nak, and Flak from Save the Homeland and the AWL series (Ace, Jack, and Hart from the SOS remake) because they are so silly little guy-coded.
FoMT: Gotz
AWL: Galen & Nina
Magical Melody: Tai (his aesthetic is so fun)
Island of Happiness/Sunshine Islands: Gannon
Tree of Tranquility/Animal Parade: Mira
Grand Bazaar: ngl I love all the npc's this game's art style is so cute (but Claude, if I have to pick. Mr. Definitely Not A Vampire)
The Tale of Two Towns: Mako
A New Beginning: Hana & Kosaburo
Story of Seasons: Giorgio & Marian
Trio of Towns: Caolila (she's so pretty T_T)
Olive Town: Beth, Lars, Clemens, & Misaki
for the non-HM/SoS series...
My Time at Portia: Higgins. listen. he's the worst. but also...I love having a rival character who's actually Mean?? it's fun!
My Time at Sandrock: Dan-Bi, Krystal, Pebbles
Coral Island: Frank, Dippa, Dr. Ling
2. which non-romanceable character do you most wish was a marriage candidate:
HM/SoS:
definitely Gotz. widower woodsman and he wants people to be safe?? plus his remake design is great.
also Mako. no you are not noticing a pattern--
although...does Clemens fit into this niche? probably.
Coral Island:
Derek (i just want him to come back T-T)
Axel
i think those last two are pretty popular options but i'm not sure haha, either way wow I have opinions on characters. my opinions are that i love them hsdnbfnb tysm for the ask!! and for making the meme!
I also felt that way, because Mightyena seemed so iconic for Butch in later appearances, seeing him with that random Meowth instead… and Cassidy’s wood carvings felt sweet, but also very heartbreaking. Those must have taken so much time to lovingly carve by hand… it made me think she didn’t have them and they were a way to cope with their loss, to have some reminder of them to hold and as a manner of atoning for her past mistakes, a way of releasing that guilt. She even included Pokemon we only saw once who were likely borrowed for missions (Drowzee!)… so it feels like yeah, she wasn’t meant to take them. They belong to TR now.
She’s become a much more gentle and kind person since leaving the gang. I don’t doubt they were indoctrinated to a degree.
@kyohansha want to weigh in? ^^ If you’d like to see the (sadly single!) episode reformed Kosaburo and Yamato were in, it’s Pocket Monsters (2019) / Pokemon Journeys Episode 95.
Do you think that Butch and Cassidy care for their Pokémon at all? (If you don't consider them wearing the Rage Crowns as cruel.)
I think they do. I had wondered, at times, but I think their most recent appearance confirms that they do at least now. Whether that means they always did or had a change of heart, I’m less sure.
Cassidy had wood carvings of all her pokemon she had used in the past, and the fact that she kept Raticate shows she cares for it as well (my headcanon here is that they weren’t supposed to take it with them when they quit, but Cassidy wouldn’t leave it behind since she cares for it, so she stole it. It seems like it was issued to them by TR in Training Daze, and later on in Journeys, the TRio seemed really worried they were in deep trouble when they lost Grookey, which was a Team Rocket pokemon. That’s my basis for thinking they weren’t supposed to take Raticate.)
Butch’s Meowth is wearing bows. That’s evidence enough - you don’t take time to put bows on your Meowth if you don’t adore it 🤣💯
I think that Butch and Cassidy were somewhat indoctrinated, like I think all TR agents are to a point, while working for them. So I’m not sure if they always cared for their pokemon on the level they do now. My basis for that is actually from Legend of Thunder - Attila and Hun had some really interesting lines to justify what they were doing, like saying what they were doing is no different than pokemon trainers, etc. Now I don’t know for sure, but I don’t really think those are ideas Attila and Hun came up with on their own (cunning as they are, this is not a knock on their intelligence). I think they were parroting back some of the ideals/justification that was drilled into them during their Team Rocket training. I honestly don’t believe that Attila and Hun thought what they were doing was wrong because of how they spoke about it (although Hun obviously has some underlying personal issues, but that’s a rant for another post 😂). I think they thought they were just doing a job they were hired to do, and were able to do it easily because they had been conditioned to believe that pokemon are tools and don’t feel things the same way humans do. I think that Butch and Cassidy were in the same mindset, which is why they were able to do things like subject their pokemon to the Rage Crown despite being shown to care for them later on.
I would have loved to see what happened that caused them to change their way of thinking prior to JN095.
#this episode made me tear up several times#mostly from the heartwarming bits#but also Musashi’s sacrifice even though being left alone is what she hates most#Pokemon#Team Rocket#Yamato#Cassidy#Butch#Kosaburo#I love the idea that she stole Ratta/Raticate#Pocket Monsters (2019)#Pokemon Journeys
