Updates on Whumptober, meows!

Alllriiight, my dear readers, I'm very much on a roll when it comes to Whumptober. For anyone stumbling across my page for the first time, Whumptober is an event hosted during October where you write "whump", or rather the psychological, physical, and other forms of torment against a "whumpee" (person receiving the angst).

I had the thought of doing a combination of prompts into a single one-shot, just to get a feel of something a little different! I wanted to talk a little about the chosen fandom and some information about the au itself because why not? For fandom, I decided to go with the current fixation, in other words a K-Drama known as Vincenzo.

This one's going to be particularly whumpy, especially due to the nature of the content with my idea but before that - this idea follows a canon divergent setting! It does fit under au, though honestly I named the fic after a song! Due to my rewatch of the series, I realized how dear these characters are to me so I created my own canon because, well, one of my favorites did die and I am upset lol.

Changes to the Canon

Jang Hanseo deserved so much better. After suffering from Hanseok's abuse, I felt his demise was too brutal for my tastes and decided he would get the chance to live here!

Vincenzo still did leave Korea after the end of the series, but then came back - deciding he couldn't abandon his new family. Geumga Plaza is an unofficial family and are highly protective of each other

Vincenzo and Hong Chayoung got together post-canon; though it took a while, considering just how stubborn both of them are. They're only dating, and neither has brought up marriage

The au itself does take place in Italy though! I had thought of Vincenzo taking Chayoung and Hanseo to visit where he had grown up, and so I decided to have them take a vacation

Hanseo took over the business, now running it legally. Though he also decided to volunteer at an animal shelter during the weekend

Vincenzo is a legal consultant, apart from still being part of the Jipuragi Law Firm

Hanseo suffers from PTSD and an unspecified anxiety disorder. While he has recovered immensely from the abusive dynamic with Hanseok, he does have vicious nightmares

He considers Vincenzo to be his true brother and rarely talks about Hanseok

Chayoung is highly protective of Hanseo, making sure no one comes after him. Though, this has hardly been an issue

Hanseo also has Autism Spectrum Disorder. I'm not going to lie; a lot of his depictions of having ASD in fanfiction doesn't always make me comfortable. I'm using my own experience with autism for how his represents

Vincenzo also has PTSD, but he doesn't talk about it. Ever

Fanfiction Details

As mentioned before, Vincenzo - alongside Chayoung and Hanseo - take a vacation to Italy, but of course things end up going a little south

For reasons I won't be disclosing yet, a hit is placed on Vincenzo. He discovers what's happening, and finds himself slowly distancing from Hanseo and Chayoung in order to keep them safe

Chayoung immediately notices something's up, attempting to confront Vincenzo but he gets defensive and it leads to a situation. That's all I can really say

Hanseo is not confrontational, but he does worry over his hyung and decides to help Chayoung figure out what's bothering Vincenzo

A fight does break out, but I will not be saying anything beyond that yet! That's spoilers, I'm afraid

More will come in a little while if anyone wants a WIP and would like to see me keep yapping about this idea. I haven't written for Vincenzo in ages, and last time, it had gotten a little... spicy to say the least but I adore Vincenzo's relationship with Chayoung and, well, Hanseo should've had a chance to heal from Hanseok's torment. In the meantime, I bid you adieu!

Summary: When Siamwit School falls on hard times, the school administrator Paphada decides to merge Udon Phithak campus with the main campus, Thep Burapha. The two campuses have long been at odds with each other, and now they'll be sharing one roof for the next school year. Saint, the head of class M.5/2, doesn't care about school or anyone in it. In middle school, he headed a gang of bullies. Now, he's met with rebellious, temperamental and stubborn Shin. In the past, Saint and Shin were close friends, but something happened between them that put a violent end to their friendship. Summary: “Noona, I don’t feel well” was a sentence Eunji had long since started to dread. Whether it was a headache, an upset tummy or homesickness, she didn’t like those words. It always meant one of her kids wasn’t okay and that was not okay at all.

“Noona, I don’t feel well” was a sentence Eunji had long since started to dread. Whether it was a headache, an upset tummy or homesickness, she didn’t like those words. It always meant one of her kids wasn’t okay and that was not okay at all.

This time it was Jisoo. The American trainee looked a bit lost, leaning against the doorway to the manager’s lounge. She could instantly tell he truly wasn’t feeling well at all. He was pale, needing the support of the doorway and one of his hands was resting on his stomach, the other shielding his ear.

“What’s wrong, Jisoo-yah?”, she asked, abandoning her cup of coffee and rushing towards him. She gently brushed his hair out of his face, feeling for a fever. He wasn’t warm but instead his skin felt clammy.

He clutched her arm, as if he needed her to keep his balance. She wrapped an arm around his waist and led him further into the room, closing the door behind him with a soft click. It wasn’t loud but still he flinched.

Once she had him sitting on the couch, she turned to look at him, incredibly worried. 

“My head hurts, noona”, Jisoo whispered, speaking so softly as if his own voice hurt him. “I don’t feel good. Everything is so loud. I feel … uh … my tummy feels weird.”

It was clear that he was struggling with his Korean at the moment and Eunji wasn’t quite able to tell if his voice was slurred from the foreign language or because something was really wrong.

“Do you feel nauseous?”, she asked, mimicking a throwing up-gesture so he understood what she was saying. He nodded, wincing at the motion. He went even more pale.

“I’m going to get you a painkiller, okay? Do you want to lie down?”, she continued quietly. Jisoo nodded and curled up on the couch.

Eunji rushed to the medicine shelf they kept in the lounge, accessible to the managers in case the trainees needed something. She scanned the shelf to find some headache medication. Her eyes fell onto a medication for migraines. It was prescription medication for Jihoon who had been struggling with migraines since he was a child. Glancing back at him, she realized that maybe this wasn’t a regular headache Jisoo was having. 

The paleness? The slurring? The nausea? The sensitivity to sound? It made sense. But she was no doctor. For now all she could do was help him feel better. She grabbed an over the counter painkiller, a bucket (just in case) and a bottle of water, crouching down by Jisoo’s head. She just hoped he wasn’t too nauseous to take a pill.

“Can you take this, hon? It will help you feel better.”

Jisoo opened his eyes and looked at her with wide eyes, studying the package of pills in her hand. He looked nearly frightened.

“Noona, I … I don’t know how”, he whispered.

It hit Eunji like a freight train. Jisoo was still a teenager and a healthy one at that. The possibility that he never had to take a pill, especially one as big as the painkiller one, hadn’t even crossed her mind. It made sense.

“It’s easy”, she promised, “let’s sit up.”

She guided him into a sitting position and handed him the bottle. 

“Put the pill on your tongue and then take a sip of water, then swallow immediately. It won’t hurt.”

“I’ll try, noona”, he said and took the offered pill. He had a look of concentration on his face, twisted by the pain he clearly was in. He put it into his mouth, took a sip of water and tried to swallow. 

It didn’t really work. He instantly coughed, clearly not quite doing it right. He managed to swallow the water but he coughed the slightly dissolved, white pill into his hand, gagging at the taste.

“Oh, Soo, it’s okay”, Eunji soothed, instantly grabbing a tissue and wiping his hand off. 

“I really don’t feel good, noona”, Jisoo whimpered, his voice tiny, “it hurts so bad. I just want it to stop.”

The last word was muttered in English but it was clear what he meant. She understood his frustration and the need for the pain to stop.

“I know, hon. I know. You can try again if you want to. Or would you rather just sleep?”

“I don’t think I can sleep. It hurts. Even my teeth and my eye. And my ears. But I don’t know if I want to try the pill again.”

“How about this? You lie down for now. I’ll close the curtains and make sure it’s quiet around here. You try to sleep and I’ll run to the cafeteria to get you a yogurt to make it easier to swallow the pill. If you aren’t asleep when I’m back we can try it again this way?”

“I don’t wanna be alone, noona”, Jisoo whispered, a tear trailing down his face.

Eunji’s heart broke for him. He was trying so hard to keep it together but he was in a strange country with a language and customs he didn’t truly understand, doubting his place here and not feeling well at all. 

“Okay, I’ll text one of the other managers, okay? I won’t go anywhere.”

Jisoo tearfully nodded. Eunji texted the manager group chat and then closed the curtains to reduce the light streaming in. She even found some ear plugs for his sensitive hearing. Then she sat down on the floor by his head, stroking back his hair as he curled into a small ball of sick teenager.

By the time Minho, a fellow manager, arrived with the requested item, Jisoo hadn’t managed to fall asleep. At least this time, with the consistency and taste of the yogurt hiding the pill, he was able to swallow it. Soon after he finally fell into a restless sleep and when he woke up hours later he felt at least a little better.

Eunji took him to the doctor, holding his hand all the way through and put the doctor's words into easier ones she knew he knew or translated for him whenever he looked confused. He was supposed to keep track if he had more headaches like that.

Six months later, she held his trembling form as he called his mom in far away America, telling her that he had been diagnosed with chronic migraines. She rubbed his back and soothed him when his mom was helpless on the other side of the world. 

When Jisoo’s mom later called her, Eunji promised her that she would take good care of her kid.

Their kid.

New Character Profiles

Hi all,

It’s been a while. It'll still be a while yet until I start the sequel, but until then, I see no harm in dropping some details about our newest OCs that we'll meet next year. So, here they are!

Vikash Gill is a resident doctor in his late twenties whom you may remember from this chapter. He is not involved in any of the gang business, but he entangles himself and his roommates when he removes Khaled’s chip and takes Khaled home to care for him. He’s a tall and broad-shouldered South Asian man with the beginnings of a receding hairline and glasses, though he’s still objectively good looking. He lives with roommates Eric Moon and Cade Heller, who help him support Khaled during recovery arc. He does not have his license due to a traumatic car accident when he was younger, but he’s working through his fear of driving to overcome it. Vik can come across as blunt and grumpy, taking a more heavy-handed approach to caretaking, but he takes his job seriously and will do what is best for his patients, even if that means implementing some tough love. He likes bodybuilding as a hobby and as a practical means of taking care of patients, and his music taste is all over the place (emo songs, bhangra, rap, etc).

Eric Moon is the Korean American anesthesiologist and gamer who rents a house with Vikash Gill and Cade Heller. He’s the shortest of the Roommate Trio, though he and Cade are almost indistinguishable in height even if they stand back to back. Eric likes to bleach his hair, but that’s about it when it comes to interesting looks. He seems like an airhead, and in many ways, he is, but he is great with people and reading between the lines to find what deeper problems may be at play. He streams semi-regularly on his Twitch channel ‘Light ☾ Moon,’ and he can throw together a decent meal using whatever they have in the kitchen within half an hour’s time. He and Vik met and roomed together in their undergraduate days, and now they’re just besties who live together. He used to date Cade in high school, before Cade became Cade, but they broke it off amicably when Cade came out. Eric then extended a hand to his ex when Cade was in a rough spot, and now he thinks of him as his best friend, never holding their past relationship against him.

Cade Heller is the German-American veterinary technician, musician, and pothead who rents a house with Vikash Gill and Eric Moon. He has light brown, curly hair that falls slightly past his shoulders, freckles, and a set of spider bite piercings at the lower right side of his mouth. He has a few tattoos: one big pentagram on his upper left arm and a series of Nordic runes on his inner right forearm. He is an old friend and ex of Eric’s who needed a place to stay after having nowhere else to go. He is trans, but that’s not the only cool thing about him: he’s pagan, he’s an on-and-off vegan, he plays the guitar in a small local band, he owns an aquarium with six angelfish and a bristle-nosed pleco, etc. Cade is the most cautious and pragmatic of the Roommate Trio, but he's only looking out for his friends. He can sometimes be obtuse, but he never intends to offend (if he did intend, you would know). He is tired of correcting people who inadvertently abuse of neglect their exotic pets due to misinformation that still sticks around.

I like my MCs to have a resolution to any trauma or injury faced. I like them to be saved before the breaking point, or at least have their pain acknowledged and healed. As a writer it helps me feel in control. If I would have a hard time giving my MC a happily ever after, I'm less likely to write it that way.

Changed my blurb about “no full-on noncon”, ‘cause apparently I’m totally down with dark COD fics with stalking/ kidnapping noncon and pet play… you live and you learn!

Poor hygiene in combination with whump, smut, smump, or general intimacy. Like infected wounds, bodily functions etc (unless plot or worldbuilding related - e.g., where do pet whumpees take a leak?)

I'm a bit of a weeny and like my MCs healthy and clean, even if they're getting tortured :) If they throw up they will quickly get cleaned up etc

Intense description of injury to toddler, infant, fetus or very pregnant person

Pregnancy body horror and writing children suffering gives me heebie jeebies. Also, will not write pregnancy as a happy ending because it terrifies me irl lol

Minors in sexual scenes

Reminder that this does not include grooming by villains. If I did write something like that, it would be verbal or implied only and never physical (e.g. a woman raised to be the perfect, obedient wife might have some groomy backstory scenes)

Synopsis:

Yong-Nam (Cho Jung-Seok) graduated from a university several years ago, but he is still looking for a decent job. His hobby is rock climbing, which he was an active participant in his university days. Meanwhile, Yong-Nam's mother Hyun-Ok (Ko Du-Shim) is set to turn 70-years-old and she will have a birthday celebration at a convention hall. At his mother's birthday celebration, Yong-Nam sees Ui-Joo (Lim Yoon-A). She works as an assistant manager at the convention hall. Back in their university days, Yong-Nam and Ui-Joo were members of the rock climbing club. Yong-Nam confessed his feelings for her back then, but Ui-Joo rejected him. 1:01:01 - in a makeshift hazmat suit, climbing through tunnels/air ducts?, makes it to the rooftop

1:11:24 - tries to climb across makeshift rope line to another rooftop, forced to go back due to lack of support for his weight, climbs the line with mask on through the rising gas

1:14:09 - seen to have rope burns on his hands, water poured over it, stings, groans in pain

1:31:39 - jumps off a roof again, tries to use his makeshift zipline, makes it halfway, hanging on, straining himself, rope is cut, swinging, slips, falls, fate unknown for a short time, family grieving, seen climbing the tower crane

1:36:00 - exiting the helicopter lift thing, looking like an absolute disaster (validly), grimy, dirty, traumatized, worried about his sister, hugging his family, scolded, lwk crying

Review of movie:

This movie has been an absolute favorite for a longgg time. I've watched it like four times, this being the fourth time. I think there was a list for this at some point made by someone else but I couldn't find it so I figured I'd make a new one. If I manage to find it in my reblogs (why did I reblog so many posts??), I will make sure to tag and link to that post. I love the casual comedy thrown into this movie and the desperation of the characters really feels weirdly refreshing since they are trying so hard and aren't giving up at any point in the movie. I definitely recommend if you're looking for something chill that still keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie. Even if you aren't looking for that, 1000000/10 I recommend. I love this movie so much, if you can't tell lol. Thanks for sticking around till the end and I hope that you enjoy the drama. Stay tuned for more whump lists!

Hi, my name is Anna!

I've wanted to make myself a whump blog for a long time, buuut finally decided to go ahead and do it. I discovered what "whump" meant all the way back in middle school when I would rewatch sick episodes of pretty much any show over and over again.

I mainly watch Japanese and Korean dramas, with a special interest in toku! The only anime I really enjoy anymore is Pokemon and Precure.

I prefer videos over GIFs, as sounds are what makes a good whump scene a good whump scene for me.

My favorite whump scenes usually consist of:

Sick whumpee (feverish-like, not a fan of emeto)

Sleepy whumpee

Disoriented/delirious whumpee

Know-it-all whumpee gets humbled (thanks Ace Ukiyo)

Anything involving tasers

Kidnapped whumpee with desperate rescuer/caretaker
