Hey. I'm originally from Europe yes, but I live in New Zealand (yay neighbours!) I was an air hostess for a while and that helped with getting discounts, plus I'd save up any money I could and use it for travel instead of other things. I'm 5'2" and about 69 kg and I was feeling huge there 💀💀 but tbh you really have to ignore the stares and comments. I couldn't find any clothes that fit me either tbh, i needed to buy a sports bra and that didn't happen lol. And guys there are definitely an issue, I'd honestly recommend not even trying to date, it's not worth the risks. Regarding Chris, I think it was easier for him as a male, plus he speaks Korean fluently but tbh from what I've seen of him, he seems a lot more aussie than Korean in terms of personality and style. He's a Sydney boy through and through 😂
Hello @escapetheshark and its great to talk to you!!
I am watching The Try Guys where Keith eats everything from The Cheesecake Factory and I probably shouldn't have watched it while I'm on my period because now I feel like cheesecake and cheesecake is low-key one of my favourite desserts.
I'm a sucker for a classic old-school New York Cheesecake but anything chocolate I love too.
Howdy neighbour!! *waves enthusiastically*
Where in EUrope are you from and where in New Zealand do you live now and I'm so curious as to why you decided to move there.
What's it like being 26 hours ahead of everyone else?
For anyone that doesn't know, New Zealand is 2 hours ahead of Australia with timezones so New Zealand is always LEAPS ahead of the Northern Hemisphere with time.
So it's 10:08 pm here right now whereas in New Zealand, it would be about 12:08 am and the 1st of November.
I think that's really scary that you're 70 kgs and couldn't find anything to fit there and yeah-that's enough knowledge for me to feel more nervous about travelling there haha.
Bang Chan is Sydney-coded for sure and I did remember saying that even though he was born in South Korea and Korean is his first language, he's been in Sydney since he was around 5 because I remember he said he learnt English from attending Australian primary and high school.
It's why I laughed when ppl ask if he thinks in korean or english and he said it depends on what country he's in.
Honestly, if you're bilingual, I am jealous of you because being raised bilingual is truly a gift for your brain and how you connect with people.
I have been trying to learn different languages on and off for years since I was a teenager and nothing has stuck lol.
Also- fun fact...if you have Gemini or Virgo placements, you have a easier time in learning new languages because of the Mercury influence.
It was lovely to talk to you babe!

IT’S FINALLY DONE! Every year, the Rainbow Book List Committee has more books to review, because literature is slowing getting queerer, and children’s and YA lit are at the forefront of that change. This year, our committee of 13 people had to review nearly 500 eligible titles, and 130 (well, 129) were good enough and queer enough to make the list. There were so many terrific books that we got a special dispensation to create TWO Top Ten lists--the first time the committee has done so! The Top Tens are below, and please visit the link above for the full list.
I’m proud of our committee’s focus on diversity--along lines of race, ethnicity, queer identity, and even genre. At least half of the Top Ten Books for Young Readers and seven of the Top Ten for Teen Readers are about characters of color, and most of those were written by authors of color. We also tried to feature as many different letters of the alphabet soup as possible. I’ve noted the racial and LGBTQIA+ rep for the books that I’ve read.
Here are the Top Ten Books for Young Readers:
Ana on the Edge by Sass, A.J. Ages 8 to 12. Sports Fiction/Figure Skating. MC is nonbinary and Jewish-Chinese-American. Ana is a champion figure-skater. She hates her new princess-themed program, but how can she tell her mother that, when it cost so much money? And why does it bother her so much, anyway? When she finds the word ‘nonbinary,’ she realizes why the program doesn’t fit, but she still has a lot of work to do repairing relationships that have suffered in the meantime.
The Deep & Dark Blue by Smith, Niki. Ages 8 to 12. Fantasy. One of 2 MCs is a trans girl, all characters appear to be Southeast Asian. A pair of twins flee after a political coup that puts their lives at risk. They decide to disguise themselves as Hanna and Grayce, two girls living in the Communion of the Blue, an order of weaving women who spin magic like wool. What one twin doesn’t know is that, for the other, being Grayce isn’t a disguise. This is a beautiful story about self-discovery, acceptance, and affirmation.
Drawing on Walls: A Story of Keith Haring by Burgess, Matthew and Josh Cochran (Illustrator). Ages 6 to 14. Biography. MC is a white gay man. This colorful picture-book biography traces the life and art of Keith Haring.
The Every Body Book: LGBTQ+ Inclusive Guide for Kids about Sex, Gender, Bodies, and Families by Simon, Rachel E. and Noah Grigni (Illustrator). Ages 8 to 12. Nonfiction/Health. Various identities and races included. Filled with self-affirming information, The Every Body Book uses inclusive language, illustrations, and facts to cover a number of important topics for young people including consent, relationships, gender, sex, puberty, and hormones.
King and the Dragonflies by Callender, Kacen. Ages 8 to 12. Realistic Fiction. MC is a gay black boy, his best friend is a gay white boy. King’s family–especially his father–have strong opinions about what it means to be a Black man, and they don’t allow for being gay. But King admires his friend Sandy for escaping an abusive home and living his truth no matter what. If King comes out, too, can his father learn to change?
Magic Fish by Nguyen, Trung Le. Ages 12 and up. Realistic Fiction/Fantasy. MC is a gay Vietnamese-American boy. A young Vietnamese-American boy literally can’t find the words to tell his parents that he’s gay, but cross-cultural fairytales help bridge the language barrier in this beautifully-illustrated graphic novel.
My Maddy by Pitman, Gayle E. and Violet Tobacco (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC’s parent is nonbinary, MC and her parent are white. My Maddy is a heartwarming story about a young girl and her parent. Readers learn that not all parents are boys or girls; some parents are just themselves. In this young girl’s case, that parent is her Maddy, a loving, caring parent who lives outside the gender binary.
My Rainbow by Neal, DeShanna, Trinity Neal, and Art Twink (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC is an autistic black trans girl. Autistic trans girl Trinity wants to have long hair, but growing it out is too itchy! None of the wigs in the store are quite right, so Mom makes Trinity a special rainbow wig.
Our Subway Baby by Mercurio, Peter and Leo Espinosa (Illustrator). Ages 4 to 8. Adoption Non-fiction. MCs are white gay men, the baby they adopt is Black. Loving illustrations help tell the story of how an infant abandoned in a NYC subway station was adopted by the man who found him and his partner.
Snapdragon by Leyh, Kat. Snapdragon. Ages 10 to 14. Fantasy. Haven’t read this one yet, so I can’t comment on its representation. Snap gets to know the town witch and discovers that she may in fact have real magic and a secret connection to Snap’s family’s past.
And here are the Top Ten Books for Teen Readers:
All Boys Aren’t Blue: A Memoir-Manifesto by Johnson, George M. Ages 14 to 18. Memoir. Author/MC is a gay Black man. “Memoir-manifesto” is a well-chosen label for this book, which relates stories from the author’s childhood and young adulthood and contextualizes them within a queer Black experience. Although the author’s family is loving and supportive, pervasive heteronormativity, queerphobia, and anti-Black racism threaten his mental, emotional, and physical safety.
Camp by Rosen, L.C. Ages 14 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC and his love interest are gay Jewish boys. For Randy, going away to Camp Outland is a breath of fresh air, a time to be exactly who Randy can’t always be at school. But this year will be different. This year, Randy won’t be the flamboyant theater kid, this year Randy will be exactly the type of bro Hudson would want to date. Changing a thing or too will be necessary for Randy to succeed, even if that means leaving some friends behind.
Cemetery Boys by Thomas, Aiden. Ages 13 and up. Paranormal/Romance. MC is a trans Latino, his love interest is a gay Latino. Yadriel accidentally summons the wrong ghost in an attempt to prove himself a real brujo to his family who struggle to accept his gender identity. Though he thinks he is summoning the ghost of his cousin, he actually summons the ghost of Julian Diaz, and finds himself with not one, but two, mysterious deaths to investigate.
Circus Rose by Cornwell, Betsy. Ages 12 and up. Fantasy. One MC is white and one is mixed-race, one is a lesbian and one is questioning. Ivory and Rosie are twins and half-sisters, born to a bearded woman who refused to choose between her lovers, and raised in their mother’s circus. After a long foreign tour, they come home to find themselves under attack by religious zealots. As tragedy follows tragedy, will Ivory be able to save her circus family?
Elatsoe by Little Badger, Darcie and Rovina Cai (Illustrator). Ages 12 and up. Mystery. MC is an aro/ace Lipan Apache girl. In this OwnVoices novel, Elatsoe is on a mission to discover who killed her beloved cousin, and why. If not for her cousin, then she is doing this for her people, the Indigenous Lipan Apache tribe. Elatsoe has the ability to raise ghosts from the dead, a tradition that has been passed down through generations. On this journey it will take vulnerability, wit, and the legends of her people for Elatsoe to understand all that is hidden in the small town of Willowbee.
I’ll Be the One by Lee, Lyla. Ages 13 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC is a bi Korean-American girl, her love interest is a bi Korean boy. Skye Shin dreams of becoming the world’s first plus-sized K-pop star, and a reality TV competition may just be her chance. To win, she’ll have to deal with fatphobic beauty standards, fierce competition, and intense media scrutiny–as well as unexpected attraction to one of her competitors.
Miss Meteor by Mejia, Tehlor Kay and Anna-Marie McLemore. Ages 14 and up. Magical Realism. (I haven’t read this one, but I think both MCs are WLW Latinas.) Lita is a star – literally. After falling to earth several years ago, she’s now living life as a teenage girl. When the annual Miss Meteor pageant rolls around, Lita decides to enter – but will her ex-best friend Chicky be willing to help her? Will the pageant help her forget about the past and imagine a new future? Lita learns that winning isn’t about being perfect, it’s about showing your true self to the world – even the parts that no one else understands.
You Should See Me in a Crown by Johnson, Leah. Ages 12 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC is a black WLW (woman-loving-woman). In this affectionate rom-com, Liz Lighty finds herself an unlikely candidate for prom queen at her affluent suburban school. Shy, awkward, Black, and low-income, Liz has never felt like she belonged, and she can’t wait to leave for her dream college. But when her scholarship falls through, it seems her last resort is to win prom queen, and the scholarship money that comes with it. Liz’s plan is complicated when new girl Mack decides to run for prom queen also…and ends up running away with Liz’s heart.
War Girls by Onyebuchi, Tochi. Ages 12 and up. Science Fiction/Afro-Futurism. Both MCs are Nigerian, one is a WLW. In a not-so-distant future, climate change and nuclear disasters have made much of the earth unlivable. In the midst of war in Nigeria, two sisters, Onyii and Ify, are torn apart and face two very different futures. As their lives progress through years of untold violence and political unrest, battles with deadly mechs and cyborg soldiers outfitted with artificial limbs and organs, they are brought together again and again and must come to terms with how the war has impacted their lives.
When We Were Magic by Gailey, Sarah. Ages 14 and up. Contemporary Fantasy. MC is a white bi/questioning girl with gay dads, her friends are racially, ethnically, and queerily diverse. This firecracker of a novel follows a group of friends who attempt to correct the accidental murder of a classmate. When We Were Magic combines magic, friendship, and awkward moments to create a captivating story. Each character brings their own uniqueness to the strong group of friends, but despite their differences, their loyalty remains. Author Sarah Gailey has written another page turning novel, with the quirky strange content to boot.

James Maxwell TV/Film List
More of a guide than a recs list, because old tv/film depends so much on availability. It’s also hard as there’s nothing surviving that’s really like SotT for him (his voice is always slightly different, too & rarely the grand one from SotT) - I found it hard to find where to start back in the day, so I hope this makes it easier. However, I have starred my favourites (rated for JM content only).
I’ve divided things into categories and @jurijurijurious (or anyone) can make up their own mind as to what to go for. (Also @jurijurijurious I have NO idea what old telly you’ve already seen, so forgive me if I’m telling you things you already know.)
Where to find it: Luckily in the UK, it’s not too bad! Network Distributing are the DVD supplier to keep an eye on (they do great online sales), you can find secondhand things cheap on Amazon Marketplace & eBay, and several Freeview channels show old TV & film, especially Talking Pictures. I’ll note if things are on YT or Daily Motion, but they come and go all the time, so it’s always worth searching.
***
Film serials (ITC mainly)
British TV made on film in the US mode with transatlantic cash, so generally pretty light, episodic (continuity is almost unheard of) etc. Some turn up on ITV3 & 4 on a regular basis (colour eps).
*** Dangerman “A Date With Doris” (ITC 1964) James Maxwell is a British spy friend of Drake’s (Patrick MacGoohan) called Peter who gets framed for murder. Drake goes to Fake Cuba to rescue him by which time JM is dying from an infected wound and faints off every available surface, including the roof. It’s great. On YT. (The boxset is v pricey if you just want 2 eps.)
“Fair Exchange” (ITC 1964) JM is a German spy friend of Drake’s called Pieter who helps him out on a case. Not as gloriously hurt/comfort-y as the other, but it does have some excellent undercover dusting. (Why Patrick MacGoohan has JM clones all called variations on Peter dotted around the globeis a mystery.) On YT.
The Saint “The Inescapable Word” (ITC 1965) This is pretty terrible, but entertaining and James Maxwell plays the world’s most hopeless former-cop-turned-security guard. With bonus collapsing. On YT.
“The Art Collectors” (1967). JM is the villain of the week. It does include a v funny bit, though, where the Saint (Roger Moore) goes for JM’s fake hair (and who can blame him? How often I have felt the same!) This one’s in colour so should pop up on ITV3 or 4.
The Champions “The Silent Enemy” (ITC 1968). Surprisingly good JM content as the villain of the week who drugs sailors and steals their clothes before realising that maybe he should have worked out if he could operate a sub before he stole it.
The Protectors “The Bridge” (ITC 1974, 30 mins.) Not worth seeking out on its own, but ITV4 seems fond of it and James Maxwell gets to do some angsting and wears purple, so it’s worth snagging if you can, but too slight otherwise.
*** Thriller “Good Salary, Prospects, Free Coffin” (ITC 1975; 1hr 10mins, I think). James Maxwell moves in with Julian Glover and runs an overcomplicated murdery spy ring where they bicker a lot in between killing girls by advertisement and burying them in the back garden. What could possibly go wrong?? Anyway, it’s solid gold cheese, has bonus Julian Glover and a lot of natty knitwear. What more does an old telly fan want? (tw: Keith Barron being inexplicably the very meanest Thriller boyfriend.) On YT but tends to get taken down fast.
***
Films
Design for Loving (1962; comedy). Can be rented from the BFI online for £3.50. Isn’t that great or that bad (or that funny either), but does have JM as a dim layabout beatnik, which is atypical.
***The Traitors (1962). This is a low-key little 1hr long spy B-movie, but it’s also thoughtful and ambiguous with a nice 60s soundtrack and location work (it’s a bit New Wave-ish) and the central duo of JM and Patrick Allen are sweet and it all winds up with James Maxwell going in the swimming pool. One of the things where JM is actually American. (Talking Pictures show this occasionally & it is out on DVD as an extra on The Wind of Change.) The quality of the surviving film is not great, though.
***Girl on Approval (1962). A Rachel Roberts kitchen sink drama about a couple fostering a difficult teenager. It’s dated, but it’s also really interesting for a 1950s/60s slice of life (and very female-centric) & probably the only time on this list JM played an ordinary person.
***Otley (1969). Comedy that’s generally dated surprisingly well & is good fun, starring Tom Courtenay +cameos from what seems like the whole of British TV. JM is an incompetent red herring & there are more cardies and glasses as well as a random barometer.
Old Vic/Royal Exchange group productions
(Surviving works made by the group that JM was involved in from drama school to his death, made by Michael Elliott or Casper Wrede. I like them a lot mostly, but they are all slow and weird and earnest & not everybody’s cup of tea.)
Brand (BBC 1959). The BBC recording of the 59 Company’s (the name they were then using) landmark production, starring Patrick MacGoohan. This was a big deal in British theatre & launched the careers of everybody involved. It’s very relentless and weird but interesting & I’m glad they decided it was important enough to save. First fake beard alert of this post. It won’t be the last. On YT & there is a DVD, which is sometimes affordable and sometimes £500, depending on the time of day.
***Private Potter (1962). The original TV play is lost and this film has an extraneous storyline, but otherwise has most of the TV cast & gives a pretty good idea of why as a claustrophobic talky TV piece it made such an impact. Tom Courtenay is Private Potter, a soldier who claims to have had a vision of God during a mission & James Maxwell his CO who needs to decide what to do about this strange excuse for disobeying orders. Tw: fake eyebrows (!) and moustaches. Only available on YT.
[???]One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch (1970). Again, no DVD release (no idea why), but it is on YT. I haven’t seen this yet, but it’s another Casper Wrede effort starring Tom Courtenay and apparently JM is especially good in it. (I’m just not good at watching long things on YT and keep hoping for a DVD or TV showing.)
Ransom (1974). A more commercial effort starring Sean Connery & Ian McShane; it gets slated as not being a good action movie, but is clearly meant to be more thinky and political with the edge of a thriller. JM’s part isn’t large but Casper Wrede shoots his friend beautifully, & it’s a pretty decent film with nice cinematography, shot in Norway, as was One Day. I liked it.
[I think this post might be the longest in the world, whoops. Sorry!]
Cardboard TV (the best bit, obv)
One-off plays etc./mini-series
Out of the Unknown “The Dead Planet” Adaptation of an Asimov short story; this is very good for JM, but hard to get hold of unless you want the boxset. I think someone has some of the eps on Daily Motion. (His other OotU ep is sadly burninated.)
The Portrait of a Lady (BBC 1968). Adaptation of the novel; JM is Gilbert Osmond, so it is great for JM in quantity and his performance, but depends how you feel about him being skeevy in truly appalling facial hair. Do the bow ties and hand-holding make up for it? but he’s in 5 whole episodes, and Suzanne Neve, faced with Richard Chamberlain, Edward Fox, and Ed Bishop as suitors, chooses instead to marry the worst possible James Maxwell. Relatable. XD
***Dracula (ITV 1968, part of Mystery & Imagination). JM is Dr Seward, fainty snowflake of vampire hunters, who falls over, sobs and can’t cope for most of the 1 hr 20 mins. More facial hair, but not as offensive as last time. Suzanne Neve is back again, although now JM is nice, she’s married Corin Redgrave, who’s more into Denholm Elliott. Anyway, I love this so much because it turned out that I love Dracula as well as shaky old TV with people I like in getting to fight vampires and all be shippy. Good news - TP keep showing M&I, the DVD is out, and there are two versions of it up on YT.
The Prison (Armchair Cinema 1974). This is the one with Lincoln in it, but it’s not that great & JM isn’t in it that much, so depends how curious you are for the modern AU! (But my Euston films allergy is worse than my ITC allergy, and I watched this when very unwell, so I may have been unfair.)
Crown Court “Fitton vs. Pusey” (1973) - part of the Crown Court series, set in a town full of clones who all keep returning to court. JM is on trial for his behaviour in (the Korean war? I forget?) although he ought to be on trial for his terrible moustache. It’s not that great, but it is nice JM content. He probably did it, but for reasons, and he wibbles & panics whenever his wife leaves the courtroom. Also on YT.
*** Raffles “The Amateur Cracksman” (ITV 1975) - He is Inspector Mckenzie in the Raffles pilot & is a lot of fun. At one point when there was a Raffles fandom someone in it claimed he was too gay for Raffles, which I’m still laughing about, because Raffles. Anyway, watch out if you try to get the DVD because it is NOT included in S1, whatever lies Amazon tells. It is up somewhere online, though, I think.
Bognor “Unbecoming Habits” (1981). Some down marks for possibly the worst 80s theme & incidiental music ever, but fun & has been shown on Talking Pictures lately. JM is an Abbot running a honey-making friary that is actually a hotbed of spies, murder, gay sex and squash playing. This is the point at which he chooses to strip off on screen for the first time, because strong squash-playing abbots do that kind of thing apparently.
Guest of the week in ongoing series/serials
Since even series with a lot of continuity tended to write episodes as self-contained plays (like SotT), these are usually accessible on their own.
Manhunt “Death Wish” (1970). This is one of the most serialised shows here, but this episode is still fairly contained. WWII drama about three Resistance agents on the run across France. JM is... a Nazi agent & former academic trying to break an old friend (one of the series’ three leads, Peter Barkworth) with kindness, possibly?? (Manhunt is very angry and psychological & dark and obv. comes with major WWII warnings (& more if you want to try the whole thing), but it’s also v good.) Up on YT, I think.
Doomwatch “The Iron Doctor” (BBC S2 1971). “Doomwatch” is the nickname of a gov’t dept led by Dr Spencer Quist that investigates new scientific projects for abuse/corruption/things that might cause fish to make men infertile etc. etc. JM is a surgeon who comes to their attention because he’s a bit too in love with his computer for the comfort of one of his more junior colleagues. (I think it’s perfectly comprehensible & a nice guest turn, but it is hard to get hold of outside of the series DVD. Which, being a cult TV person, I loved a lot anyway, but YMMV!)
***Hadleigh “The Caper” (S3 1973). Hadleigh is a very middle of the road show, but watchable enough (lead is Gerald Harper, who’s always entertaining) and this is pretty self-contained as it centres around an old con-man friend (JM) of Hadleigh’s manservant causing trouble by pretending to be Gerald Harper, for reasons. JM seems to be having a ball.
Justice 2 episodes, S3 1974. He guests twice as an opposing barrister & gets to be part of some nice showdown court scenes. Again, a middle of the road drama, but stars Margaret Lockwood, who was still just as awesome in the 1970s as she was in the 1930s & 40s. On YT.
Father Brown “The Curse of the Golden Cross” (1974). JM is an American archaeologist getting death threats; stars Kenneth More as Father Brown. Just a note, though, that 1970s TV adaptations tended to be really really faithful and this is one of the stories where Chesterton comes out with an anti-semitic moment... (JM was unconscious for that bit and, frankly, I envied him.) But otherwise lots of angsting in yet another fake moustache about someone trying to kill him.
The Hanged Man “The Bridge Maker” (1975). Confession time, I have v little idea what this one was about apart from Ray Smith being an unlikely Eastern European dictator, as this whole series went over my head and was not really my thing. (Ask @mariocki they’re cleverer than me and liked it & can probably explain the plot!) I don’t know if it’s available anywhere off the DVD but on a JM scale it was v good/different as he was a coldly villainous head of security & it wouldn’t be too bad to watch alone, but there was an overarching plot going on somewhere.
Doctor Who “Underworld” (1978). This is famously one of the worst serials in the whole of classic Who, but largely because of behind-the-scenes circumstances, not the guest cast. There is some nice stuff, though, esp in Ep1 (JM is a near-immortal alien who’d like to lay down and die but still the Quest is the Quest as they say... a lot) & it’s bound to pop up on YT or Daily Motion. The DVD has extras that include v v brief bits of JM speaking in his actual real accent (which he otherwise does in NONE of these) & making jokes in character. Honestly, though, this is the only DW where the behind-the-scenes doc is genuinely the most exciting bit as they desperately invented whole new technologies & methods of working to bring us this serial, and then everybody wished they hadn’t.
*** Enemy at the Door “Treason” (LWT 1978). This is a weird episode but I love it lots - from a (v v good) series about the occupation of the Channel Islands. (So obv warnings for WWII & Nazis.) JM is a visiting German Generalmajor, but he’s come for a very unusual reason - to ask for help from his brother-in-law, a blackballed British army officer (Joss Ackland). It’s all weird and low key and JM is doomed and nevertheless probably my favourite thing of his that isn’t SotT.
* The Racing Game 2 eps (1979). Adaptation of Dick Francis’s first Sid Halley novel Odds Against (ep1) + 5 original stories for the series. This is an interesting one - JM plays Sid’s father-in-law & they have a lovely relationship that’s central to the book BUT Dick Francis loved this adaptation and Mike Gwilym who played Sid and was inspired to write a sequel Whip Hand, which he tied in with TV canon - and adopted at least three of the cast, including JM. Which means that all the Sid & Charles fanfic is also JM fic by default and it’s quite impressive. (There’s not much but it’s GOOD.) On YT.
Bergerac “Treasure Hunt” (1981). Not a major role, but pretty nice & it’s one a Christmas ep of the detective show (also set on the Channel Islands) that involved Liza Goddard’s cat burglar, which was always the best bit of Bergerac.
His guest spots in Rumpole of the Bailey (1991) “Rumpole a la Carte” and Dr Finlay (1994) are both really just cameos, but both series come round on Freeview; the Rumpole one is funny and the Dr Finlay one his last screen appearance before his death the following year.
Not worth getting just for JM: Subway in the Sky; Bill Brand and Oppenheimer.
These films only have cameos but some quite fun ones and they come around on terrestrial TV: The Damned (1962), The Evil of Frankenstein (1964) & (more briefly) Far From the Madding Crowd (1967). (I think his cameo in Connecting Doors must be at least recognisable as someone spotted him in it just based off my gifs, but it’s not come my way yet.) I’ve never been able to get hold of any of his radio performances, not even the 1990s one.
ETA: I forgot The Power Game! This is the one surviving series where he occurs as a semi-regular (at least until halfway through S1 when he went off to the BBC to be in the now-burninated Hunchback of Notre Dame). This isn’t standalone, but it’s a good series and it is on YT. See how you go with crackly old TV before you brave it but it’s the snarkiest thing ever made about people making concrete and stabbing each other in the back. JM is a civil servant who tries to run the National Export Board and is plagued by Patrick Wymark and Clifford Evans as warring businessmen.
***
[... Well, now I just feel scary. 0_o In my defence, I have been stuck home bored & ill for years, and often unable to watch modern TV while trying to cheer myself up with James Maxwell, so I didn’t watch all of this at once. It just... happened eventually after SotT. /waves hand
But if anyone feels the need to unfriend my quietly at this point, I understand. /o\]

On the 1st Day of Christmas my true love gave to me - A Partridge in a Pear Tree
A lot of things can happen in a span of a second, tick since we’re in space. In a second you can feel immense joy for opening a Christmas present to only receive a book of from your father. In a second you could feel a bond with a sentimental lion. In a second you can be completing a mission, then all of a sudden you see fire engulf one of your companions. In a second you could be about to ram your ship into a shield only for there to be no need to complete the course.
That is what happened to me only half an hour ago, half a varga since we’re still in space. I'm just there in the room with the paladins of Voltron and rebels while trying to calm myself from the adrenaline rush. I don’t think nobody knows what almost happened except for maybe Matt, who keeps looking at me. I try to pay attention to Kolivan , I really do try, but my mind is running at a mile per minute about how I almost died.
I shouldn’t be feeling like this. I mean I have almost died several times, and it’s not me being dramatic. I'm in a war, I put my life on the line so others don’t have to. This one though, this one was like facing death head on whereas the other times I didn’t care how close to death I really was. I would have gone through with the act, would have rammed my ship into the shield to save the coalition.
The mission before the individual.
That’s the Blades’ way.
Thank goodness Lotor was there, but even then, that act alone leads me to wanting answers for my millions of questions I have for the prince. Why help us? Why go against your own empire? Why now decide to join the fight? What did he do to want to switch side from being the enemy, to being the ally? What will he gain?
So many confusing questions that I can feel them behind my eyelids. I shake out of my thoughts in time to see Shiro and Kolivan nod before everybody starts to exit the room.
I quickly get out of my seat and leave the room, but not before I hear Kolivan call out, “We’ll be leaving in a varga,”
I nod my head, knowing he probably won’t see it, but it’s still the action of doing it. I don’t really know what to do. Everybody is busy, I don’t think I could really go to my old room, and I doubt I can go to the training deck. Kolivan has already warned me beforehand that if he catches me on the training deck here, he will make me do drills for five vargas straight. I may have great stamina, but Kolivan’s drill is a nightmare.
I just start to walk over to the kitchen to grab a water, my throat dry, before I see a shadow start to follow me, then a hand lands on my shoulder and before I can process whoever it is, my instincts take over. I grab the hand and twist it before I turn around, about to kick the offender’s leg out of them-
“Woah there Keith. It’s me. It's your second unofficially adopted older brother,” Matt quickly shouts with wide eyes.
I let go of his hand as I take a step back, “Sorry,” I apologized. I try to get away because I know why Matt is here and not with his sister, and I don’t want to talk about it but-
“Ah Kogane, I should know better than to startle a Samurai ninja like that after an almost death experience,” He says.
“First, I'm not a ninja samurai -”
“ Yes you are-”
“Samurai are nobles that decided to be warriors in ancient Japanese, whereas ninjas are just normal people in Japan who are spies, and assassins, and last I checked, I'm not a noble,” I blurt out.
“Well sorry that I don’t keep useless information on these types of things,” I just shrug as I start to walk away.
“Bye Matt,” I wave and I start to speed walk away.
“Nope, no you don’t. You don’t get to walk off like that after you did a kamikaze move like that.” he grabs my shoulder to turn me around so I could face him, “I thought the Japanese did that in World War ||, and you are Korean, it’s not like it’s in your blood or anything,”
“I didn’t go through with it, Lotor shot down the shield in time, so I'm fine,”
“You almost died and you are going to just walk off like that,” we start walking to an unknown destination.
“We almost die all the time-”
“But nobody goes running head first into a forcefield, you’re lucky Lotor was there,” and I sigh because he’s right about both statement he made. I was lucky, very lucky.
“I know Matt, but if one life needs to be sacrificed for tens of millions of people, then I will do it again,” we turn a corner, and it feels like I'm leading, but I'm still a little to shaken up to really care.
“But that’s just it Keith, you think nobody will miss you if you exploded into little Keith bits?” we round another corner, and we are before the door that leads to the lions, specifically the Black Lion.
“Matt, what are we doing here?” I ask as I cross my arms in front of my chest.
“You think I brought you here? Nope, you did, I let you lead, you’re the one who started to walk around, not me,” and at this I tilt my head in thought before I walk in.
“Okay, I'm really glad you walked over here because we need to talk, let’s go near the nice kitties' leg so the barrier can come down and we can talk about you sacrificing without saying goodbye and how you think you are nothing,” I just nod because nothing much I can actually do.
So, we walk behind the lion’s leg and the particle barrier come up, surprising me with how it actually listened to me.
“So, first of all, you DON’T go SACRIFICING yourself!” he shouts at me, startling me, “I know the whole Blades motto is ‘the mission before the individual’ and all that,” he quoted the motto with his fingers, “But if you would not have been so stupidly hotheaded, we could have made another plan,”
“But there wasn’t time to make any other PLAN!” I shouted back before I took a deep breath, “Matt, tens of thousands of lives were at stake, I couldn’t let my measly life be the reason why families died, and if Lotor wasn’t there, and I didn’t ram my shop, I would have died either way,” I tried to reason.
“ You stupid idiotic imbecile!” he shouted, “You are Keith quiznacking Kogane! You are not some type of worthless person who will not be missed if you died.”
“Matt-”
“No, you are not listening!” he stopped for a second before he took a deep breath, “I will now list your accomplishment in no particular order,” he calmy said
“M-”
“And if you interrupt, I will hit you so hard with my staff that you wish you kamikazed; you understand?”
I nod as I cross my arms.
“You, Keith Akira Kogane, have accomplished a lot of things even with the universe going against you. You have beaten Shiro’s record back at Garrison. It wasn’t just one, not two, not even five, but all of them before the age of eighteen,” he pauses for effect, “rescued Shiro from the Garrison, found carvings to find the blue lion, became the red lion’s pilot, a paladin of Voltron, fought Zarkon head on and survived, survived the trials of Marmora that Shiro has said looked hard, awakened your blade, became the black lion’s paladin, led Voltron, then turned into a space ninja,” Matt quickly took a huge gulp of air.
I just raised my eyebrow, waiting for him to tell me he was done.
“Now then Kogane, I know you like being Mr. Macho and everything, but it’s okay to not be okay,” he says.
“I am okay,” I insist.
“No, you are not Keith, I saw you during the meeting. You were bouncing your leg, a nervous tick you subconsciously do, and glaring at the table as if it ate Shiro or something. You are not okay,” Matt takes a big breath, “Keith, you are like a younger brother I never have, sure I have Ka-Pidge, but she’ll always be my sister, I can’t lose you to this war. I already lost dad, and I know he’s still alive, but I can’t actually lose you and there is no way to get you back,” Matt says seriously.
I don’t know what to say. It's war. That's life. Many people need to make sacrifices because it can be the cause for millions of people.
“What do you want me to say? It’s war, I can’t guarantee that I'll survive,” I whisper.
Matt holds onto my shoulder before he pulls me into a hug.
“Just try to stay alive, that’ll be enough,” I nod my head, “besides, who’s going keep giving Shiro white hair, or keep scaring me to death, huh?” we both laugh until we pull apart.
I quickly wipe the few tears that were staining my cheeks .
“Thanks Matt,” I whispered.
“Anytime,” he had tear tracks too, but didn’t make any move.
“I should go make sure I'm not late,” I start to walk away when Matt calls out.
“Keith, you are my little brother, just like Pidge is my little sister, we’re family,” and I nod my head.
But as I walked away, I knew that I would make many more sacrifices to protect my family. As many as it takes...

____
Usually Lance doesn’t interact with the people of Queens. He just kind of does a good deed then heads out. Not because he doesn’t mind being the Robin Hood of Queens (he actually quite enjoys that), but because the cops don’t like him, and he is way too young to go to jail. He’s just 16 for God’s sake. (His abuelita would kill him if he ever stepped a foot near the police.
“Ay dios mio,” she’d say. “Te vas a matar.” Which wasn’t a lie. The cops did hate Lance, because he was doing a better job at keeping crimes off the street than them. If anything, Lance would die of heroism than at the hands of an officer (but go off abuelita).
Last night, however, Lance couldn’t resist talking to someone. To be fair, if Lance didn’t step in, they’d probably get mugged. Lance was supposed to lower his voice, say “have a safe night”, and leave, but he didn’t because it wasn’t until after he saved the person that he realized that it was Keith Kogane: Korean-American, head of Journalism and Lance’s crush since freshman year.
“Holy shit man you saved me,” Keith praised, and Lance just lightly chuckled and swung his foot around like an eight year old. It’s a good thing Lance’s mask was on, because he was flustered.
“What? No. It was nothing. Just doing my nightly thing,” Lance dismisses, still refusing eye contact with Keith.
“Well if it wasn’t for you, my laptop and camera would have been stolen, and that shit’s expensive,” Keith smiled. “I probably would have just ran after then and stopped after a good 2 blocks.”
“Wow, two whole blocks,” Lance applauds.
“What? Like you can do better?”
“I can do better, thank you.”
“Oh is that a challenge Spiderman?” Lance’s smile disappeared for a quick second. He’s still Spiderman, how silly of him to forget. Keith wasn’t talking to Lance. This was the most the Lance had ever spoken to Keith because he was always too nervous to do anything about his frivolous boy crush.
“Maybe another day. I’ve got to get home, and I have this test tomorrow that I’ve got to study up for.” It was true, Lance did have a test to study up for. It was AP Chem. Yeah the world needed saving, but Lance is trying to get out of Queens and get a full scholarship to MIT.
“Wow. I guess I never really thought about Spiderman having to deal with school. That means you’re just a regular person behind a mask.” Lance wanted to be snarky, it was the perfect instance for a witty response, but he didn’t.
“Isn’t every hero?” Lance puts his hand out, and shoots his web somewhere so he can head home.
“Wait!” Keith exclaims right before Lance leaves, then he gets awkward. “When would--I mean, when can--fuck. It would be cool if we saw each other again, you know for the race and stuff.”
Lance forgot to breathe. Fuck, FUCK! He really wished that Keith asked Lance instead of Spiderman.
“I mean I’ll be around, you’ll just have to look out for me.” And with that, Lance left the best night of his life. He couldn’t wait to tell Hunk, he’s going to lose his fucking shit. Lance talked to his crush! But his crush didn’t talk to him.

So now we will proceed to the first content of my blog the Q and A portion, just kidding hahahah. I’m just going to answer the given question by my teacher. So, here are the given questions:
1. Where do I see myself 10 years from now? Is my learning in SPUP vital to where I’m leading to?
2. Was ABM the best choice after all?
3. What course will you take in college and why?
4. What topic would you like to learn more in this subject?
5. What the corona virus has taught you about life?
So guys here are my answers to this questions, hope you will like it and don’t get bored.
1. I see myself having my own RESTAURANT and being a BUSINESS WOMEN 10 years from now. And I think my learning in SPUP are vital that will lead me to what I want. Why? Because they taught me the things I must learn to continue venturing what I want in life.
2. For me ABM was the best choices cause it is connected to what I want to be in the future. I want to own a RESTAURANT someday and ABM is helping me to know how can I analyze, balance, record and many more a transaction.
3. The course I want to take in college was HRM (Hotel and Restaurant Management) cause I want to have my own RESTAURANT someday to help my parents and for them not to work anymore.
4. I want to learn more about the technologies in the subject Empowerment Technology. I want to learn the real meaning of technology, its branches, functions, and uses. I want to know how ICT evolved, developed, improved and upgraded its feature.
5. Corona virus has taught me the meaning of life and its purpose; it remind me of what I am, deep down inside me. Corona virus thought me that life is important and should be appreciated. Corona virus taught me to be comfortable with what I have know and be contended. It gives me an opportunity to slow down in this fast changing world right now and to appreciate what truly matters: FAMILY, friends and the connections I’ve made over the course of my life. I also rediscover myself because of this pandemic. And with every passing days, I’m rekindling my passion, likes and dislikes, my interest, the things I need to value, understanding what really I want, the importance of time, and most important, my desire to live, rather than merely survive. That the things that Corona virus has taught me.
So now guys we will proceed to the second content of my blog which was named as “CREAT A TECH REVIEW”.
My teacher told me or us I should say to choose our favorite technology and make a review for it. So now here is my answer, Hope you will like it. And oh! guys please read until the end of this blog, thank you.
• Before I will answer it let me first elaborate what technology is, “TECHNOLOGY” means the use of scientific knowledge for practical purpose or application, whether in industry or in our everyday lives. So the technology that I choose was Gadgets specifically “CELLPHONE”.
Here are the questions that I made for this Tech Review about the technology that I choose.
1. What is cellphone?
2. What are the characteristics that cellphone have?
3. What is the importance of cellphone?
4. What are the negative effects of cellphone among teenagers?
5. Why do we use cellphone?
Here are the answers:
1. A cellphone is any portable telephone which uses network technology to make and receive calls and messages. It is also about the technology used to transmit calls and messages, rather than what the handset itself can or cannot do. As long as a phone can transmit signal to a cellular network, it is a CELLPHONE. This is also a wireless telephone that permits telecommunication within a defined area that may include hundreds of square miles, using radio waves in the 800-900 megahertz (MHz) band.
2. Here are the characteristics of a cellphone:
- Has a Wi-Fi or cellular access to the internet
- A battery that powers the device for several hours
- A physical or onscreen keyboard for entering information
- Size and weight that allows it to be carried in one hand and manipulated with the other hand
- Touch-screen interface in almost all cases
- A virtual assistant, like Siri, Cortana or Google Assistant
- It has the ability to download data from the internet, including apps and books
- Wireless operation
3. The importance of cellphone was the perfect way to stay connected with others specially a family member whose away from you. It also provides a user with a sense of security. Example, in an event of emergency, having a cellphone can allow you to help to seek for a help and it could even save lives of others. This is also capable of internet access, sending and receiving photos, videos and files, and some cellphone are equipped with GPS technology. This allows users in locating some places around the world and allowing the cellphone to be found and the user location in the event of loss or emergency.
4. Here are the negative effects of cellphone among teenagers:
- Cause headaches
- Decreased attention
- Shortness of temper
- Sleep disorder
- Depression
- Lack of human contact
- Psychological problems
5. Cellphones are used in a variety of purpose, such as keeping in touch with family members, for conducting business, and in order to have access to a telephone in the event of emergency. We also used this to socialize to other people in different places through the use of social media. We use cellphones to share information to others, read news, stories and others. We use cellphone as one of our source of information. To meet other people and etc.
So guys were here at the last content of my blog, a “MOVIE REVIEW”. My teacher told me or us to choose 3 of our favorite that had a profound impact on my or our life. After every movie I should answer the guide questions that was given. Hope you will enjoy reading this. So, here are the questions:
1. What life lesson can be learned from the movie?
2. What part of the story told by the movie was the most powerful? Why?
3. Who was your favorite character in the movie? Why?
4. Did anything that happened in the movie remind you of something that has occurred in your own life or that you have seen occur to others?
So the first movie that I choose was MIDNIGHT SUN
SUMMARY:
A girl named Katie Price (Bella Throne) has a rare genetic condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum or commonly called as XP, in where she is allergic to sunlight. Katie’s condition prevents her from being out in the sunlight. At the age of 17-years-old, Katie was been sheltered since childhood and was confined to their house during day because of this rare disease that she have that makes even the smallest amount of sunlight are deadly or can kill her. She has her father and her friend named Jack and Morgan to keep her company. When she graduated from home schooling, she asked her dad to allow her to go out. Katie comes out of the house every night, when the ray of the sun is no longer present. One night, she was noticed and asked out by her longtime crush, Charlie, whom she had been watching from her window from time to time. She was playing a guitar at the train station that time. Charlie heard her voice that’s why he walked towards Katie. When Charlie tried to talk to her, Katie suddenly leave and forgets her notebook. Charlie saw the notebook that Katie forgot so he keep it. He returns the next day, hoping that Katie was there. When he arrived at the train station he saw Katie singing again, so he walks towards Katie and talk to her. He explains to her how he got his injury that prevented him from getting a scholarship to the University of California, Berkeley. They fell in love with each other as she secretly hide her health condition to Charlie. One night, she forgot about the danger and she was a little bit exposed to sunlight and eventually got her sick. She at first couldn’t accept the truth and didn’t want to see Charlie again. But at the end, she learn the importance of the time she could spent with the people she loved. She enjoyed her remaining days of her life with Charlie, her dad Jack and her best friend Morgan.
Questions answer:
1. For me, the life lesson that can be learned from the movie was be brave enough to faces every struggles, pains and most specially fears in life.
2. For me, the part of the movie that is the most powerful was when Katie and Charlie slept outside and Katie woke up when the sun was going to rise, so she hurriedly run and told Charlie to get her home fast but still she was exposed to sunlight. This is the most powerful part for me cause it made me realize a lot of things like how special our life is, I have a lots of complaints in life not realizing how blessed I am among others, I have a life and freedom which I never a blessing from above, it also teaches me to use my time wisely, and lastly and most specially I realized that our parents or my parents can be overprotective with us but chose to allow us to be happy and enjoy the life outside the house.
3. My favorite character on the movie was Katie price, cause she became brave enough to face the one she feared of the most.
4. When the time that Katie was dying it reminds me when I was a child (I don’t know my specific age that time), when my grandfather on my fathers side is dying because of the illness he have.
The second movie that I choose was FIVE FEET APART
Summary:
Five Feet Apart is a movie about Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) who is a cystic fibrosis patient who actively uses social media to cope with her illness. She tries to live a normal life like others even if she had this kind if illness. At the hospital, she meet Willian “Will” Newman, who is there for a medical trial, in an attempt to get rid of the bacteria infection (B. cepacia) he has in his lungs. Those patients that have a CF are strictly kept six feet apart to reduce the risk of cross-infection, as a contracting bacterial infections from other CF patients can be dangerous – even life- threatening to them. Stella is determined to follow the rules not like Will who likes to break the rules and take dangerous risks sometimes. She notice that Will isn’t strictly following the treatment regimen and eventually gets him to agree to do so. As time goes by, Will and Stella began to fall for each other and secretly go on their first date, staying only five feet apart instead of six feet apart. Stella explaining she’s “taking that foot – for us”, they eventually end up to the hospital pool where they strip to reveal scars from their past surgeries they have. The next day is Will’s birthday and Stella throws him a surprise dinner party with the help of her best friend Poe and their fellow CF patients. The next day, Poe dies which leaves her devastated and because of this she pushes Will away. Later Stella realize how Poe did not get to live his life so she decided to live her life and see the lights with Will. As they walk on solid ice, Stella almost die but Will gave her a mouth-to-mouth and save her. At the hospital, the lung transplant for Stella was successful, and Will learns that Stella did not contract his infection. When Stella wakes up after her surgery, she sees Will through the glass of her room. He has set up a display of lights outside her room, saying that his only regret was that she did not get to see the lights, so he brought them to her. He tells her that his drug trial isn’t working, and he doesn’t want her to have to deal with his eventual death. He gives her a notebook of his drawings of her and he confesses his love for her. Will makes her close her eyes, because he says he won’t be able to leave if she is looking at him so Stella close her eyes and Will walks away. Years have passed, Stella can be seen in a video on her channel, saying she misses Will’s touch now that she has lost it forever.
Questions answer:
1. The moral lesson that I learned from this movie was: first, Even healthy young people can die; second, illness can devastate families emotionally and financially; third, it is scary to love someone and it can be even scarier to let someone love you, especially when you are embarrassed by your scars; fourth; always find a way to feel in control in something; and lastly, live life to the fullest, because you never know what might happen tomorrow; sixth, love can really conquer all.
2. When Stella and Will fall for each other despite of the risk they may encounter and that can give death to the both of them. It so hard to fall for someone who can’t be yours until the end because of the reason that he/she must let you go because of a reasonable reasons.
3. My favorite character on the movie was Will, cause he was willing to give up his love for Stella even if it will break her heart because he doesn’t want Stella to deal with his eventual death because the medication is not working to him.
4. I haven’t seen any of the situation on the movie that was happened on my life but maybe it happened to other but I don’t who they are. But watching this movie makes me so emotional and I even think or put myself on Stella’s situation. Just thinking of it, it breaks my heart into pieces.
Lastly, the movie that I choose was TOMB RAIDER
SUMMARY:
Adventurer Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) defeats a robot in an Egyptian tomb, revealed to be a training exercise arena in her family manor, where she lives with her technical assistant Bryce (Noah Taylor) and butler Hilary (Chris Barrie). In Venice, as the first Lphase of a planetary alignment begins, the Illuminati search for a key to rejoin halves of a mysterious artifact, “the Triangle’” which must be completed by the final phase, a solar eclipse. Manfred Powell (Iain Glen) assures the cabal that the artifact is almost ready, but has no real idea of its location. Lara’s father Lord Richard Croft (Jon Voight) long missing and presumed dead, appears to her in a dream. Lara awakens to a mysterious ticking, and finds a strange clock hidden inside the manor. On her way to consult a friend of her father’s, Wilson (Leslie Philips), Lara crosses paths with Alex West (Daniel Craig), an American associate and felloe adventurer. Lara shows Wilson the clock, and he puts her in touch with Powell. Lara shows Powell photographs of the clock, which he claims not to recognize. That night, armed commandos invade the house and steal the clock, bringing it to Powell. The next morning, a prearranged letter from Lara’s father arrives, explaining that the clock is the key to retrieving the halves of the Triangle of Light, an ancient object with the power to control time. After misuse of its power destroyed an entire city, the Triangle was separated: one half was hidden in a Cambodian tomb, the other in the ruined city, now modern-day Siberia. Her father tasks her to find and destroy both pieces before the Illuminati can exploit the Triangle’s power. In Cambodia, Lara finds Powell, who has hired West, and his commandos already at the temple. West solves part of the temple’s puzzle, and Powell prepares to insert the clock at the moment of alignment. Lara, realizing they are mistaken, she finds the correct keyhole; with only one second left, Lara persuades Powell to throw her the clock. She unlocks the first piece of the Triangle, and the statue of the temple come to life and attack the intruders. West, Powell, and his remaining men flee with the clock, leaving Lara to defeat an enormous six-armed guardian statue. She escapes with the piece; recovering at a Buddhist Monastery, she arranges a meeting with Powell. In Venice, Powell proposes a partnership to find the other half of the Triangle, and informs Lara that her father was a member of the Illuminati, and offers to use the Triangle’s power to resurrect him; though reluctant, she agrees to join forces. Lara and Bryce travel with Powell, West, and the Leader of the Illuminati (Richard Johnson) to Siberia. Entering the tomb, they discover a giant orrey, which activates as the alignment nears completion. Lara retrieves the second half of the Triangle, and Powell kills the Illuminati’s leader to restore the Triangle himself, but the halves will not fuse. Realizing Lara knows the solution, Powell kills West to persuade her to complete the Triangle to restore West’s and her father’s lives. Lara complies, but seized the Triangle herself. In a “crossing” of time, Lara faces the memory of her father, who urges her to destroy the Triangle for good rather than save his life. Returning to the tomb, Lara manipulates time to save West and stab Powell instead, and destroys the Triangle. The tomb begins to collapse, and all flee but the wounded Powell, who reveals to Lara that he murdered her father. After a hand-to-hand fight, Lara kills Powell, retrieving her father’s pocket watch and escape the tomb. Back on her manor, Lara visits her father’s memorial and finds that Bryce has reprogrammed the robot, and Hilary presents her with her pistols, which she takes with a smile.
Questions answer:
1. The life lesson that can be learned from the movie was: first, Don’t be afraid to fail. Failures makes us strong, it is a part of our life. Second, women are strong. Never ever under estimate what women can do cause sometimes they are more stronger than men. And lastly, believe in yourself. If you think you can’t make just believe in yourself that you will can do it.
2. For me, the part of the story that was the most powerful for me was when Lara choose to destroy the Triangle rather that to retrieve his father’s life. It was hard to choose when one of the family member was involved, especially your father. It can make you confuse to think what to do or what to choose.
3. My favorite character to the movie was Lara. She was so brave to face all things that she encounter even her fears. She never ever let negativity surrounds her. She let her fear make her brave enough to face them.
4. When Lara decide what to do. That’s the thing that happened in my life. Deciding whether what to choose between two things, What to do, and others.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
So, That is it guyssss.... Thank you for readingggggg♥️♥️♥️♥️💞💞💞.... Hope you didn't get bored😅😅😅😅😅..... Love lotsssss, till the next blogggg😘😘

Franny’s 30 Day Cover Challenge
Playlist
Franny’s 30 Day Cover Song Challenge: (categories are mostly from here, and here, with some from here, and a couple I made) in September 2020 one of her musician friends challenged her to do the thing and she was like “It seems like a fun way to show everyone what kind of music has influenced me as a musician, singer, songwriter, and just like, person. So I’m going to do it.”
In reality, she recorded most of them in 1-2 days to distract her from how sad she is because Wilbur hates her and he’s sad lmao
It helped a little.
(If you want me to drop the playlist she mentions in #24 let me know, I have it started I can finish it)
TW: mentions of Franny’s political beliefs so tw: politics, an allusion to suicide though the word isn’t directly used, mention of 9/11 and the subsequent invasions...nothing graphic with any of these triggers but worth a forewarning
Day 01 - A song that makes you happy
Honey Spiders by The Parlotones
“The Parlotones are this fantastic indie rock band out of South Africa. And I actually thought about doing their song, uh, Stars Fall Down for day sixteen, but I’m going with Honey Spiders for day 1. There were lots of Parlotones songs, I mean. Push Me to The Floor, We Call This Dancing, Should We Fight Back...but ah, Honey Spiders always puts me in a good mood.”
Day 02 - A song that helps you clear your head
Light of a Clear Blue Morning by Dolly Parton
“I grew up on Dolly, and it’s funny because for the longest time this song wasn’t really on my radar as much as it is now. But when I was twenty-two I was going through something really difficult, and my then-fiance now husband was abroad for work, so I was alone in our apartment and just. Really, profoundly sad and lonely. So I put on a Dolly Parton record and just laid on the bed and Light Of A Clear Blue Morning played and I had a good long cry and felt so much better after that. When I need to think about how to solve a difficult problem, or I feel overwhelmed, I just listen to that song.”
Day 03 - Song you love from a band/artist you hate
Should’ve Been A Cowboy by Toby Keith
“Honestly, he’s called me a nasty lady to my face and I’ve called him a facist enabling pig to his, so I have no qualms openly saying I hate Toby Keith. That being said, Should’ve Been A Cowboy is one of the best country songs of the 90s, undeniably. I loved that song when it came out when I was thirteen, and I still love it.”
Day 04 - A song about drugs or alcohol
Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss
“This is probably cheating, because my lovely best friend Daniel and I cover this a lot at Dara & Danny shows. But today look who I have! My friend Max from Seoul Hanoi’d! Max the Korean Scot who can’t hide his accent to save his life, so let’s see how it sounds in a Scottish accent.”
Day 05 - A protest song
Talking Vietnam Blues by Phil Ochs /// and Here’s to The State of Mississippi by Phil Ochs
“This one was hard because I. Fucking. Love. Protest music. I could have done a whole 30 days of protest music - wow, let me know if I should do that and give my husband a heart attack with all the twitter threats I’ll invite. Huh. Right, so I was going to do Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven by John Prine. But I decided to do two Phil Ochs songs because I don’t think Phil Ochs is talked about enough. It’s a shame we lost him so young. Ochs’ sardonic humor and honesty in his writing has influenced me as a songwriter deeply. When I write political songs, I don’t hold back, and it’s because of Phil Ochs’ writing that I have that courage. I’ve been singing Love Me, I’m A Liberal since I was in college with constantly updating lyrics. It was so hard to even choose which songs of his to do because for his fairly short career his songbook is lengthy and full of gems. I’m Going to Say It Now, Draft Dodger Rag, Spanish Civil War Song, I Ain’t Marching Anymore...I couldn’t pick one so I’m cheating and recording two.”
Day 06 - A song you wish you wrote
When I Think About Cheatin’ by Gretchen Wilson
“I will forever be pissed off that I didn’t write this song. I’m absolute trash for my husband, so it’s never -- I’ve never had to be in a situation to ever consider -- but this song gets me every time. It feels like I could have written it. Because we do spend a lot of time apart travelling for our work. And the sentiment expressed in the song is a little too real.”
Day 07 - A song in a language you don’t speak
Khattar by Khine Htoo
“This will either be a charming attempt to sing in Burmese or I’m about to offend a lot of people. Which, being a politically outspoken woman on the internet, I’m used to anyway. So. 1, 2, 3, okay here goes.”
Day 08 - A song by an artist no longer living
Phop Samnang by Sinn Sisamouth (inspiration)
“Haha, you thought I’d see the name of this category and not do a Sinn Sisamouth song? You were wrong.”
Day 09 - A song you want to dance to at your wedding
Devoted To You by The Everly Brothers
“I’m already married, so this was actually our first dance song at our wedding. Day three of our wedding, like the more Westernized wedding ceremony day. We had a three day long traditional Cambodian wedding and I felt like a princess. An-y-way!”
Day 10 - A song that makes you cry
Borrowed Rooms and Old Wood Floor by Emily Scott Robinson
“Unfortunately, Emily Scott Robinson and I aren’t related. Sad, I know, because she’s so talented. Almost her entire album Traveling Mercies is...sad as hell. The record reminded me of early Dolly Parton, and my second solo album. You know, all those sad-ass songs. The Dress is honestly the song that makes me the saddest but I can’t even listen to it without crying so.”
Day 11 - A song that you love hearing live
Prove My Love by Violent Femmes
“There is nobody I have seen in concert more than Dolly Parton, but Violent Femmes and George Strait come incredibly close. The Cranberries, the amount of times I saw them in the 90s and early 2000s...close fourth. Probably. The very first concert I dragged my husband to was a Violent Femmes concert, he was not prepared for how hard college me went.”
Day 12 - A song from before 1960
There Ain’t No Sweet Man That’s Worth The Salt of My Tears by Libby Holman
“This song is from 1928. I came across it when I was in grad school and it’s, as the kids say, a bop.”
Day 13 - A song you think everybody should listen to
White Man’s World by Jason Isbell
“I think perspectives of people of color should of course take precedence in these conversations. But I find this song to be a good faith attempt of a white man coming to terms with the institutional racism and sexism in the world around him. And I think this song can be a useful tool to explain certain concepts of racial justice to ignorant but well-meaning folks. As a woman of color I think Jason Isbell did a great job not centering himself even though it was from his perspective. This song is great musically and necessary socially.”
Day 14 - A song from the 1970s
You’re No Good by Linda Ronstadt
“Linda Ronstadt is grossly underrated, that’s all I have to say here.”
Day 15 - A song people wouldn’t expect you to like
Racists by Anti-flag
“I mean, I’ve talked about how much I like punk in the past, and I remember a video of Seoul Hanoi’d doing Spanish Bombs at a San Antonio show made the rounds, but I don’t think I’ve talked about how much I like Anti-flag. People don’t expect me to like punk for some reason. But I agree with...everything punk music is all about.”
Day 16 - A song that holds a lot of meaning to you
Blue by LeAnn Rimes
“It’s silly, but I won a county fair singing competition with this song in high school and it really fueled my passion for music, that win. It’s also the first song Cornelius heard me go full Georgia on, with the yodels and all, at the little bar in my hometown on his first trip meeting my parents. The song doesn’t cut to my very soul ot anythin’, but it’s special to me.”
Day 17 - A song attached to a memory
Supernova by Liz Phair
“I remember buying Liz Phair’s Whip-smart album when I was eleven. And in college, when I was getting ready for dates with Cornelius in my dorm room, I would dance around to a CD I burned and wrote on it with a sharpie, ‘Pre-date Movie Scene Music.’ God, what was even on there? I’m about to expose myself as the most basic 1999-2001 bitch. I remember Head Over Feet, I mean, Alanis Morisette? I was a young woman in 2000, obviously I loved her. Mm, Dreams by The Cranberries...oh, Kiss Me, Sixpence None The Richer...yeah, anyway, Supernova was on there.”
Day 18 - A song from the year you were born
Call Me by Blondie
“...I can’t believe Call Me is as old as I am.”
Day 19 - A song that reminds you of someone you miss
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing (yes, of course she does a cover with banjo)
“This was my late best friend Molly’s favorite hymn. And I sang it at her funeral at her husband’s request. Molly and I grew up together in the small town of Payne Lake, Georgia and Molly was the most devout Christian...but she was also the first person I came out to as bisexual when I was a teenager, and she said that Jesus taught her that love was the greatest commandment and that meant I was automatically twice as good at it as her. Her faith guided her every action but she never talked down on her two best friends - Dan(iel Maitland) and I for not sharing it. Molly was doing the whole emulate Jesus thing beautifully. I miss her every day and it’s been seven years. If you ever think that people won’t miss you...you’re wrong. All right, let’s see if I can get through this without crying.”
Day 20 - A song by an artist you discovered this year
Hello, Anxiety by Phum Viphurit
“I just discovered this quirky Thai-Kiwi singer and not to be dramatic, but he’s my favorite thing in the world right now.”
Day 21 - A song with a city or country in the title
Oh! Phnom Penh (track 20)
“This song was written after the fall of the Khmer Rouge, and after people began to make their way to what was left of their homes, alone, or with what was left of their families. If you want to learn more about what that was like to actually live it, my cousin Reena Boran has a video interviewing her parents and paternal grandfather and uncle about it. Reena is a journalism student currently studying in London but she lives in Cambodia. Her mother is my aunt Malisruot, my mother’s youngest sister. The video is English subtitled on her channel, I’ll link it in the description box below.”
Day 22 - A song from the 1960s
To Sir, With Love by Lulu
“I didn’t actually discover this song until I heard it covered at a 10,000 Maniacs concert in the 90s. My friend Allison was standing next to me and I just started crying and she’s like ‘are you okay?’ and all I just blubbered out ‘My dad!’ For the uninitiated, my dad married my mom, who’d raised me alone until then, when I was six and he adopted me when I was eight. My dad didn’t have to adopt me, he didn’t have to call me his daughter, he could have just been like half of my friends’ stepdads and give me a place to live and nothing else. But my dad was my biggest supporter from day one. He convinced my mom to let me join the dance team and show choir instead of science club, he was the one that talked my mom down from probably killing me when they found out I was only studying music and not music and political science at NYU. I am who I am today because he is my dad. And this song just says everything I’ve always thought about him.”
Day 23 - A song from your childhood
Una Lacrima Sul Viso by Bobby Solo
“But Franny, aren’t you a Cambodian raised in the US? Yes, but you were fooled. My very white father is also an immigrant. He is from Switzerland and while he didn’t teach me to speak Italian and German growing up, he played German, Italian, and French records all the time. My parents often spoke to each other in French and I picked up some French but properly studied it starting in high school, and I didn’t study Italian until college -- and my German is still …. [points to a spot on the screen where she later inserted a card linking to a video on her cousin Köbi Framagucci’s YouTube channel titled ‘Can My American Cousin Speak German?’ where he tests her Standard and Swiss German speaking and comprehension]. But hell if I couldn’t sing every one of the songs from my father’s French, German, and Italian record before I knew what the words even meant.”
Day 24 - A song that gives you chill vibes
Glorify by Ivan & Alyosha
“Dan(iel Maitland) and I actually have an entire playlist on my Spotify accounts of songs to listen to to get us out of writers’ block. And one that I often will put on repeat and just absorb through my headphones with my eyes closed is a song called Glorify by Ivan & Alyosha. I think it touches on a lot of the themes I include in my songwriting. Christian mythology, the darker side of humanity, it often reminds me of what I love about songwriting. If you say please I might drop a link to that playlist.”
Day 25 - A song that’s your signature song
Long Gone Lonesome Blues by Hank Williams“Right, so I chose this instead of a Kitty Wells song or I Get A Kick Out of You (her being
featured on a 2005
recording propelled her career majorly) because if you’re familiar with me you might have seen a video that went around in like….2017? 2016? of Dan(iel Maitland) and I doin’ the song at our hometown bar in 2014. I posted it in response to some tweets because hoes mad when a WOC calls out racism and sexism in the Nashville music industry. ‘Bet she don’t even know Hank’, really? You think I wouldn’t know the history of one of the two music industries I work in? Please. Anyway, she knows Hank and nails the incredibly technical yodel -- the
most difficult
one in Hank’s songbook - in Long Gone Lonesome Blues. Mm...Lovesick Blues though, that also strikes fear into my heart. Anyway stay mad I guess?”
Day 26 - A song by your favorite band
Gun Shy by 10,000 Maniacs
“10,000 Maniacs was one of my favorite bands when I was in like 5th grade through 10th. I listened to them for a little while after Natalie Merchant left for a solo career, but the Natalie Merchant era was really what resonated with me the most. Gun Shy was a bit too advanced for my little 5th, 7th grade ears to really appreciate when I first discovered the album In My Tribe. Merchant’s voice -- because like, I don’t have a very conventional voice either, so her and Dolores O’Riordan really changed my entire perspective on what a woman’s voice can sound like in rock music. Um, yeah, so her voice more than the lyrics just wowed me. And as I got closer to graduating high school and especially in college I actually understood what What’s The Matter Here, Hey Jack Kerouac, and Gun Shy were talking about. Gun Shy...really became a significant song to me because...being born in 1980 I grew up in a relatively peaceful time. The Cold War was all but thawed by my tenth birthday. But I was getting ready to leave my then-boyfriend-now-husband’s apartment for class at NYU on the morning of 9/11. We stood in line for hours to donate blood. And then my government invaded two completely unrelated countries and jingoism and terrifying, fervent nationalism, and xenophobia just smacked me in the face. And friends of mine from high school were convicted to drop out of college and join the Army, and died, for an unjust, imperialist war, and suddenly Phil Ochs, John Prine, and Bob Dylan lyrics hit a lot different, and I understood what Gun Shy was really about.”
Day 27 - A song you hate by an artist you love
Mrs.Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel
“Paul Simon is one of my favorite songwriters ever, um, and I actually used to like Mrs. Robinson….until I got married and everyone sang it at me. It’s kind of my fault, I did choose to take my husband’s last name. And I leaned into it by making my social media handles all Mrs. Robinson...but still. Only play the song around me if you want to die.”
Day 28 - A song that a younger you would have loved
Mean by Taylor Swift
“I’m so genuinely glad that I am older than Taylor Swift. Middle school Franny did not need Taylor Swift to enable me and fuel my ego. Some of her singles, while not really 35 and 40 year old Franny’s cup of tea, young me would have played until my mother hid the record or cassette from me. Although - fuck if Tim McGraw didn’t immediately give my happily married ass flashbacks to my first love and make me bawl like a baby? Right, so when Speak Now came out and I listened to it, Mean, while not a song that adult me has listened to maybe more like ten times, I immediately thought ‘wow, I needed this song when I was in middle and high school.’ I could literally picture 7th grade me with my little guitar and my little cowboy boots my dad bought for me singing this at the talent show making eye contact with the kids who bullied me as if it was some kind of own when it’s not. I could still, almost thirty years later, name them if I really wanted. So, for 7th grade me, Mean by Taylor Swift.”
Day 29- A song that reminds you of your partner/spouse
ផាត់ជាយបណ្តូលចិត្ / Phat Cheay Bon'dol Chet by Sinn Sisamuth (translation) (female singer covering it) (modern, studio recording of a male and female singer dueting it) (a cool violin cover) (another female singer) (cool guitar cover)
Feat. some members of Seoul Hanoi’d. Andy Chaiyaporn (violin), Max Cho (piano), Jodie Batbayar (cello), Aisulu Niyazova-Li (percussion) and Franny has her guitar
“The song, lyrically, only reminds me of my husband a little bit. But Phat Cheay Bondol Chet has several memories with my husband attached to it. The first time he heard me sing in Khmer was at my mother’s house in Atlanta when I had him visit the first time to meet my parents. My mom had a little dinner party at our house to show him off, like Asian moms do when they think their daughter snags a good one, and I was hand washing the dishes while my mom and the other Cambodian parents were listening to Sinn Sisamuth records. I’ve always loved the song I’ll be showing y’all today, like I’ve always just stopped what I was doing and -- so it came on and I just started singing along without really being aware of it. And then at a different diaspora get together that summer, that song came on and I just kinda. Pulled him aside to the side yard of that person’s house to look at the stars with him and translated the song. It’s one of the Khmer songs he instantly recognizes now, so it’s special.”
Franny did NOT say in the video that college her 100% had him sit in the grass with her outside that person’s house, where nobody could see, so she could makeout with him
Day 30- A song by one of your favorite songwriters
Reincarnation by Roger Miller
Feat. Seoul Hanoi’d, done more in the style of the Cake cover
Also instead of singing the lyric “you’re a girl, I’m a boy” she goes “you’re a girl, so am I” because she doesn’t ever change pronouns, she just makes it gay because she is a bi-con
“Roger Miller, to me, is as important as Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, in the American songbook. He’s not as talked about which is a shame because his discography is iconic. Getting to be a part of King of The Road was one of the highlights of my career.”

off the rack #1283
Monday, October 14, 2019
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to one and all. Thank-you for reading this. The Jee Gang gathered for a turkey dinner yesterday with the littlest 2-month-old Ashton being passed around like a hot potato because he was tired and cranky. His mom got him settled but you couldn't hear his tiny cries for the raucous noise from his cousins. The kids took over the larger formal dining room now that they outnumber us old folks. It was a nice big family affair.
Gwenpool Strikes Back #3 - Leah Williams (writer) David Baldeon (art) Jesus Aburtov (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Gwenpool tries to save herself from cancellation by holding a "Contest of Champions" in this issue. Guest stars galore. This thing is so much fun.
Catwoman #16 - Joelle Jones (story & art) Laura Allred (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). I'm glad I checked the credits on this issue since I said that I was going to let this cat out after reading last issue. I will always read a book by Joelle Jones even though this one had me befuddled with some jumping back and forth in time and the added "Year of the Villain" thing. I am curious to find out Catwoman's decision.
Loki #4 - Daniel Kibblesmith (writer) Oscar Bazaldua (pencils) Oscar Bazaldua & Victor Olazaba (inks) David Curiel & Carlos Lopez (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). I love a good trickster. Loki uses a good one to defeat Nightmare. I like this Loki.
Detective Comics #1013 - Peter J. Tomasi (writer) Doug Mahnke (pencils) Keith Champagne & Christian Alamy (inks) David Baron (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). It's Batman versus Mister Freeze as the super villain tries to resurrect his dead wife. Batman's flame thrower costume is a cosplayer's wet dream
Doctor Doom #1 - Christopher Cantwell (writer) Salvador Larroca (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). This was a pleasant surprise. The art caught my eye but the story is really good too. There's no sign of the good guy Sorcerer Supreme from a while ago. Just good old fashioned arrogant Victor. He scoffed at a new technology to reverse global warming and is accused of being jealous of it because it was invented by Reed Richards and Tony Stark. When disaster strikes, Latveria is blamed and Doctor Doom sacrifices himself for his country. The mystery is who framed him and I will keep reading to find out.
Web of the Black Widow #2 - Jody Houser (writer) Stephen Mooney (art) Triona Farrell (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). What the!? Two Black Widows? Doctor Doom isn't the only one being framed for murder. I liked the clever cut-out on Nat's bathing suit.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Ze Carlos (art pages 1-8) Ig Guara (art pages 9-20) Dono Sanchez-Almara with Protobunker (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Miles must solve the super hero's dilemma of saving a family member or a stranger's life. His decision leads to a confrontation with the Prowler. Is it Uncle Aaron? I can't wait to find out.
White Fox #1 - Alyssa Wong (writer) Kevin Libranda & Geoffo (art) Israel Silva (colours)
VC's Joe Sabino (letters). Another Agent of Atlas super hero gets her origin story told. She's based on Korean folklore. It was very well done and almost makes me want to read the new team book. There's also a peek at the Future Avengers by Alyssa Wong (writer), Ale Garza (art), Dono Sanchez-Almara with Protobunker (colours) and VC's Joe Sabino (letters). They're an Asian version of the Young Avengers but these guys used to be Hydra agents in training. Read on if you're wondering what turned them into good guys.
Age of Conan Valeria #3 - Meredith Finch (writer) Aneke (art) Andy Troy (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I wish the art inside was a nice as the Jay Anacleto cover.
Marvel Action Spider-Man #9 - Delilah S. Dawson (writer) Fico Ossio (art) Ronda Pattison (colours) Shawn Lee (letters). The Black Cat gets caged as the kids finally work together and start to treat each other with respect. Next, things get even darker as Venom attacks.
Batman 100 Page Giant #1 - There are five superb stories in this $4.99 US one-shot and you'll feel like you just read five $3.99 comic books when you hit the last page. The only story that was disappointing was the Batwoman story mainly because she was fighting a lame villain named Lord Death Man. It was written by Steve Orlando, who has never impressed me. The other four stories more than make up for it though, especially Scott Snyder's lengthy contribution. This book is a steal at twice the price.
The Amazing Spider-Man #31 - Nick Spencer (writer) Ryan Ottley (pencils) Cliff Rathburn (inks) Nathan Fairbairn (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). More hints are given to the secret identity of the super villain Kindred. Definitely related to Norman Osborn. That mystery is the only thing keeping me reading this book. As if the waters weren't muddy enough, the guy in the straight jacket isn't even Norman. I hope we don't get strung along too much longer because there will come a point where I say screw it, I don't care anymore.
Batman Universe #4 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Nick Derington (art) Dave Stewart (colours) Josh Reed & Tom Napolitano (letters). I don't mind this time traveling if it means that we see Batman and Green Lantern team up with Jonah Hex. The chase is on as Vandal Savage gets his hands on his prize. I know I've said that I don't like time travel and Vandal Savage, but this is a Bendis book and I'm a sucker.
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy #2 - Jody Houser (writer) Adriana Melo (pencils) Mark Morales (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Gabriela Downie (letters). I think the Floronic Man chowed down on Swampthing and Ivy is next on his menu. Well, it's Harley to the rescue and the girls seek help from a fellow super villain to see what's wrong with Ivy. I'm reading this because it looks so pretty.
Powers of X #6 - Jonathan Hickman (writer) R.B. Silva & Pepe Larraz (art) Marte Gracia & David Curiel (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). The house is built and the power has been connected for a new X-verse. Jonathan Hickman has managed to make mutants relevant again for me. There are a half a dozen new mutant books coming out in the next six weeks starting with X-Men #1 hitting the racks October 16. I'll be reading them all to see how I feel about them but I can't imagine that they'll be all worthwhile.
Event Leviathan #5 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Alex Maleev (art) Josh Reed (letters). I'm curious to find out who Leviathan is but it's not going to have a big impact on me since I'm not a huge DC fan. I'm sure DC fans might be able to suss out the secret given the Manhunter clue in this issue but I'm going to have to wait until next issue when all is revealed.
Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity #1 - Kami Garcia (writer) Mico Suayan & Mike Mayhew (art) Richard Starkings of Comicraft (letters). I love new and different takes on iconic characters and this one is a killer. Harleen Quinzel is Doctor Harley Quinn, GCPD profiler, who is working a 5-year-old cold case of the murder of a hospital employee. Meanwhile there are other new murders landing on her desk. The writing is tight and the characterisations are vivid, helped by the beautiful art. Mico's black and white art chronicles the present while Mike's gorgeous colour art handles the flashbacks. DC's Black Label imprint is well worth checking out if you're a mature reader. This mystery not only looked good but made me feel good after I finished reading. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
Contagion #2 - Ed Brisson (writer) Stephen Segovia (art) Veronica Gandini (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I know I said that I wasn't going to read any more of this 5-issue mini but this was on the racks with the awesome Power Man and Iron Fist cover so I snagged one after I finished reading all the others for the week. This issue was better thought out and the story flowed smoothly. Ben takes Sue, Reed and Johnny to Doctor Strange for help and the two of them go back to Yancy Street to contain the infectious bad guy. Danny and Luke are there helping the first responders and a couple of surprise super heroes show up too. The villain is briefly subdued but Doc Strange and Power Man succumb to the disease at the end. Uh-oh. The next issue teaser has Jessica Jones so that's reason enough for me to want to read it.

Langst Prompt story part 1
Prompt Maybe
Lance yawned as he snuggled further into Shiro’s side, “Why is it so cold” he mumble, get a small chuckle out of the warm body next him.
He was about to dose of again comfortably in shiro’s side listening to shiro’s heart beat it was very calming, when he felt cold arms wrap around his waist and pull him to the side of the bed. He yelped as the cold haps touched his bare skin.
“KEITH, you’re freezing” Lance yelled struggling to get out of Keith’s grip. Shiro was already leaving the sea of blankets, Lance had trapped him in.
“Come on Lance, remember we were planning on buying a new heater today” Keith grumbled as he reluctantly let go of Lance.
“Yeah Yeah I know, its just so cold”
“Get over yourself, you big baby”
“I’m not a big baby, you oversized Chihuahua”
“What did you call me”
“Okay you two, let’s not start world war 3 over some name calling” Shiro said stepping in between the two men.
“Lance you go make breakfast. Keith you go get the car ready for departure”
“On it’ Keith replied stomping out the door
“Yeah I’ll make breakfast. What do you want?” Lance said leaning onto Shiro and kissing him on the cheek.
“We have an option of Pancakes, Omelette, fried eggs, or his is the kicker cereal”
“Um… Surprise me” Shiro said returning Lance kiss, but on the lips which Lance happily accepted.
“Okay Pancakes it is” Lance said walking out of the room which a smile on his face. What did he do to deserve these two angels for boyfriend.
~At the Mall~
“Hurry up, you two are so slow” Lance just wanted to go home and drop shiro to bed so he can have his body warmer, when he goes to sleep.
“Trying to Lance, It would be easier if Keith would stop getting lost and just hold my hand.” Shiro said holding his hand out to Keith, but Keith had his Pride to up hold.
Suddenly the ground started to shake, everyone seemed to instantly go into a panic mode, as people rushed to the nearest safe space somehow Shiro managed to get separated from Lance and Keith but not before reaching out to grab Keith’s hand.
Keith was about to take Shiro’s hand, when Lance came running into him and pushing him out of the way of a falling pot plant
“Sh*t that was close” Lance mumbled to himself as he pushed himself off before offering a hand to Keith. As they both started hurrying after the crowd. Both failed to noticed the giant piece of the ceiling coming towards them until it was too late. Lance just had enough time to push Keith away before the ceiling came down on them and everything went black.
When Lance came too, there was good news and bad news. The good news was he was no longer felt cold, the bad news was he had a metal pipe sticking out of him which for some reason kept him quite warm. He was about to call for help. When he heard a familiar voice, “Shiro” lance smiled even though his voice came out as a low whisper, he was happy to see Shiro was okay.
“Two People Under here” an unfamiliar voice said
“Yes they are my friend, please can you get them out” Shiro voice sounded panicked
“Well Young Man, you’d better decide which friend you like more because if we lift on side of the ceiling up, it most like will crush the other man”
“WHAT, ARE SURE THERE”S NO OTHER WAY” Lance could hear Shiro yell, he sounded stressed, lance thought maybe he’ll make Shiro favourite dinner when the three of the get home.
“Sorry, It either one or both of them die.” Man said starting to sound angry “Left side has a cuban boy and the right side has Korean boy, pick now or regret it later”
“Right side, Korean boy. Please save him” Shiro said slightly panicked
Lance felt numb, even when they lifted the concert slab, the metal pipe was the only reason it didn’t crush him. But lance wished it did. Because then he won’t have to replay the words over and over again in his head. How long had it been this way how long had shiro been more fond of Keith, he knew if Keith had the option he would pick Shiro. Its just an extremely sick way of breaking up with someone Lance guessed.
It took another hour for the rescue team to find and “rescue” Lance, the whole thing felt numb to him even when he was rushed to the ambulance and woke up in a hospital bed with his chest tightly wrapped up and a small lady with a folder and a phone with her.
“Hello Sir, this maybe difficult to ask but do you have anyone that we can get in contact with, to tell them you were alive and kicking”
“……”
“Sir”
“……Um yeah”
“…that’s great will that be a partner or a parent”
“…..Parent”
The lady gave Lance her phone after dialling in the number.
“Hello Mamá….Sí I wanna come home” Lance said on the verge of tears.
~3 Years Later~
Keith wasn’t the same after Lance died, he was more closed off and would lash out more the only people to calm him down were Shiro, Hunk and Pidge. HE hardly talked when he did it was normal insults and self-destructive, So when he looked on the billboard and say a familiar face he thought he was dreaming this couldn’t be real. Shiro said Lance died in the earthquake but here was coming to town three weeks from now, book your tickets now.
“Hello, yes I would like to buy to tickets to meet behind the stage, I don’t care how much it costs I need to meet him.”
Shiro was shocked to see Keith come barging into the gym with a huge smile on his face, holding two tickets and his phone. Shiro had felt so guilt about that day of the earthquake He couldn’t bring himself to tell Keith how Lance died.
Shiro still hasn’t accepted that he had to choose between the two people he loved most in this world. He always has nightmares of the day and Lance screaming out to him as he moves to help Keith up.
~~~~LANCE
Its been so long since last time Lance was here. Lance was finally feeling up to dealing with his demons but if he were to see Keith or Shiro again he’d probably have some form of a mental breakdown, it took about a whole year to learn to walk again.
After the near death experience. Lance decide it best to live without regrets because next time he might be so lucky. So he was going to live his dream of being a famous singer and here he was living his dream 2 years later even with a slight limp.
“I can do this, I can do this, only for three days then I can get out of this town and away from this hell” Lance mumbled to himself as he practise his smile in the mirror.
KNOCK KNOCK
“Lance, you’re on in 5”
“Thanks Coran. See ya in 3”
Lance did his signature finger guns as the Ginger man returned the gesture, still not quite understanding the gesture himself.
Lance looked into the mirror one last time before grabbing his jacket and heading out the door.
Voltron NextGen Multi-Reality AU Basics (S8 UPDATE)
Voltron NextGen Multi-Reality AU
SPOILER WARNING FOR S8
Or just Multi AU for short. As a multishipper I’ve suffered with all my ships and NextGen ideas for a long time now, until I came to the conclusion: Why make an AU for every single ship when I can make 1 BIG AU for all of them? I mean with Alternative Realities being a thing it’s basically a free-for-all!
That’s how I came up with the Multi-Reality NextGen AU, honestly I’m only calling it an „AU” as a formality…
Basically, every ship is canon. EVERY SHIP. I may personally not like a couple of ships but that doesn’t mean I don’t want others to have fun. So yeah, fight me.
And of course with this being an inter-reality AU the crossovers are endless… honestly come to think of it, this whole AU is pure self-indulgence, nothing else.
I just enjoy designing NextGen children for my ships with some very little story ideas here and there and some crossovers. That’s all this is.
But since I’m putting this out there in the void I might as well write up some basics to make it easy.
Also this is probably obvious, this being a NextGen, but there’s a general warning for MPreg for the whole thing.
As for all Realities:
- I headcanon Galras to have both set of reproductive organs, so all females and males can impregnante and become pregnant all the same, though the dominance of each organ can change in cycles.
- Also miss me with that „Allura is a teenager” bullshit, I headcanon her to be around 23 years in human terms in S1.
- I also headcanon Pidge to be a Trans Girl.
- Also you can pry Half-Korean Keith from my cold dead hands.
- Also also I headcanon Keith and Axca to be siblings, so unless I state otherwise just assume they’re are siblings.
- Depending on Reality Adam is alive. Also miss me with Adam dying in the Canon Reality too, my guy just lost a leg and was saved by the resistence and was chilling in the desert the whole time, okay?
- Krolivan is totally a thing in all my realities.
The main gang’s ages through the Canon in my interpretation:
Pre-Kerberos:
Shiro: 24
Keith: 17
Lance: 16
Hunk: 17
Pidge: 14
Allura: -
Season 1-5:
Shiro: 25
Keith: 18
Lance: 17
Hunk: 18
Pidge: 15
Allura: „22”
Season 6:
Shiro: 26
Keith: 21 (+2 years)
Lance: 18
Hunk: 19
Pidge: 16
Allura: „23”
Season 7 (by the time they get back to Earth):
Shiro: 27
Keith: 22
Lance: 19
Hunk: 20
Pidge: 17
Allura: „24”
Season 8 (by the end of S8):
Shiro: 28
Keith: 23
Lance: 20
Hunk: 21
Pidge: 18
Allura: „25”
1 year later:
Shiro: 29
Keith: 24
Lance: 21
Hunk: 22
Pidge: 19
Epilouge (5 years later):
Shiro: 34
Keith: 29
Lance: 26
Hunk: 27
Pidge: 24
Most of the AU focuses on a couple of ships of my liking and their children, those being:
Klance Reality:
Everything happens mostly according to canon, up until about S6. The key differences being:
- Thace is Keith’s Uncle, being Krolia’s brother, he also survives in this AU.
- The Castle doesn’t get destroyed.
- The 3 years gap still happen.
- On their way home they find a Shiro clone who managed to stay alive but never found his way back to Voltron, Shiro has a twin now (they decide to call him Ryou because I’m creative like that).
- Shiro gets an Altean like arm.
- Adam doesn’t die.
- They go back to Earth and save it from Sendak, but Earth doesn’t become the center of the Voltron Coalition.
- Allura doesn’t die.
- Allurance happens at first but later they realise it’s not working, so they split sometime after S8.
- Adashi, Thoran and Hunay happen.
- No Altean Lance at all.
- No Curto either.
- Altea and Daibazaal aren’t reborn.
- The Lions don’t leave.
More stuff to know about the Klance Reality:
- They eventually switch back the Lions with Allura going back to pilot the Castle and Ryou going to pilot Blue.
- Allura will eventually become Queen Allura, and they’ll reform the Coalition with a more Altean center.
- The Empire will be completley wiped out and they’ll work on clearing the universe from rogue warlords and pirate captains. Also re-habiliting and re-integrating galras into the universe.
- Keith will have a more Galra like appearance after their third kid, because he got infected with a bio-chemical weapon virus and part of the procedure to save him was to amplify his Galra genes.
Keith and Lance will have 8 children:
- Rosalie „Rosa” and Thace „Ace” McClain-Kogane:
30 years old, the oldest of the children, twins, with Rosa being older out of the two of them. Rosa is named after Lance’s Mom, Ace is named after Thace, Keith’s Uncle. Rosa is a Field Commander and later she’ll become the Red Paladin. Ace is the Royal Commander and later the Black Paladin.
- Amelia „Amy” McClain-Kogane:
26 years old, smaller and sickly due to Keith’s sickness during the pregnancy. The future pilot/Captain of the Castle, she will pilot it with a pair of Altean gauntlets Allura made for her.
(She’s named after Amelia Earhart because I’m a history nerd.)
- Violet and Liliac McClain-Kogane:
21 years old, twins, with Violet being older. Both of them just freshly graduated, Violet is a diplomat, Liliac is a mechanic. Violet is the future Blue Paladin, Lilian is the future Green Paladin.
- Akira McClain-Kogane:
18 years old, going to graduate soon, possible future Black Paladin. He prefers to work with the Rebels, can’t quite find his place yet.
- Clarisse „Claire” McClaine-Kogane:
16 years old, the problem child of the family, possible future Red Paladin, nopes out to join the Blade of Marmora in secret.
- Charles „Chuck” McClaine-Kogane:
12 years old, youngest and last of the children, future Yellow Paladin, upcomming tech genius.
As for the ages of everyone in the present of the Klance Reality:
Shiro: 62
Keith: 57
Lance: 54
Hunk: 55
Pidge: 52
Allura: „59”
Sheith Reality:
This reality follows canon the most closely, but there’s almost a slight „underage” warning, „underage” being Keith is 17 at the start.
- Shiro and Keith kind of „got together” just before the Kerberos mission, a good while after Shiro and Adam broke up, it wasn’t exactly official, they were supposed to figure it out after Shiro came back.
- They had a one-night-stand before the Kerberos mission, Keith got pregnant, and since he wasn’t aware he’s half-galra, he was thought to be some kind of intersex.
- Adam helped Keith, and helped him keep it a secret, and even helped him after he got expelled.
- Adam was taking care of the kid when Shiro came back and they found the Blue Lion and kept taking care of her after their disappearance for 3 years until his „death.”
- Curtis takes care of Hoshi after Adam’s death mostly. (haha)
- Since Shiro didn’t bring up their Pre-Kerberos „relationship” neither did Keith, only until they were on their way back to Earth, that’s when he told him about the kid too.
- Earth’s becomes the Center of the Coalition.
- After the Universe is safe, Shiro and Keith „settle down” in the desert, Shiro keeps working as Admiral of the Garrison and Captain of the Atlas, Keith as Leader of Voltron keeping the universe safe.
- Shiro had a twin brother called Ryou in this Reality but he also had Shiro’s disease and he already died from it.
- Allura doesn’t die.
- Altea and Daibazaal aren’t reborn.
- Punk and Allurance happen.
- Curto doesn’t happen.
- The Lions don’t leave.
- No Altean Lance at all.
Shiro and Keith will have 3 children:
- Hoshi Shirogane:
26 years old, mechanic and teacher at the Garrison, future Black Paladin.
- Ryou Shirogane:
16 years old, talented pilot, Cadet at the Garrison, the discipline case, named after Shiro’s twin brother.
- Sora Shirogane
11 years old, troublemaker with the face of an angel, she has very good strategic skills.
Everyone’s ages in the Sheith Reality:
Shiro: 50
Keith: 45
Lance: 42
Allura: „47”
Hunk: 43
Pidge: 40
Shallura Reality:
This reality is pretty close to the Klance Reality, since originally they were in the same reality but I changed it later.
- Thace and Ulaz both survive.
- The Castle doesn’t get destroyed.
- Allurance doesn’t happen at all, Lance gives up on her and they form a strong sibling like friendship.
- The 3 years gap still happen.
- They go back to Earth and save it from Sendak, but there’s no Atlas and Earth doesn’t become the center of the Voltron Coalition.
- They occasionally go back to Earth.
- They eventually switch back the Lions with Allura going back to pilot the Castle, Shiro going back to Black, Keith to Red and Lance to Blue.
- Allura doesn’t die.
- Altea and Daibazaal are still reborn.
- Allura will eventually become Queen Allura, (and King Shiro?) and they’ll reform the Coalition with New Altea at the center.
- Keith becomes the new Galra Emperor of Daibazaal.
- Shiro gets an Altean arm.
- Hunay, Laxum and Thalaz happen.
- Curto doesn’t happen.
- The Lions don’t leave.
- No Altean Lance at all.
Shiro and Allura will have 3 children:
- Prince Alfor (Jr.)
28 years old, future King, currently diplomat and Ship Commander. Named after King Alfor obviously. Has some alchemy abilities.
- Prince Leo
22 years old, new Captain of the Royal Guard. Doesn’t have alchemy abilities. (Yet?)
- Princess Hikari
17 years old, wannabe explorer, future diplomat, alchemist in training.
Everyone’s ages for the Shallura Reality:
Shiro: 63
Allura: „60”
Lance: 55
Keith: 58
Hunk: 56
Pidge: 53
Svlav Reality:
Honestly this is just the Altean Empire Reality. Like I legit planned this to happen in the canon Altean Empire Reality but it can just as well be a variation of it. Everything is exactly the same except Sven and Slav having a daughter.
Sven and Slav will have 1 kid:
- Yume, 15 years old, member of the Guns of Gamara, her existence is considered an anomaly in all realities, this gives her a good amount of existential anxiety.
Loturra Reality:
This also mostly follows canon, just with Lotor Redemption.
- Lotor doesn’t kill Narti.
- Lotor also unlocks the secrets of Oriand.
- (Lotor doesn’t lie to the alteans on the Colony, they can volunteer for the Quintessence extraction „experiment”.) I don’t know what to do with this part yet, bear with me.
- Lotor DOES go kind of mad from the Quintessence exposure when they go in to the Quintessence Field with Allura.
- Lotor and his Generals form Sincline and fight Voltron, but Voltron saves them in the end and Allura cures Lotor.
- Sincline will fight beside Voltron.
- Lotor doesn’t die.
- The 3 years gap still happen.
- They still go back to Earth and save it from Sendak together.
- Shiro still becomes Captain of the Atlas.
- Allura doesn’t die (duh).
- Altea and Daibazaal aren’t reborn.
They’ll eventually unify the Galra Empire again this time on the right path and start to build New Altea with the Colony Alteans. Galrans and Altean unite on a new home.
- Empress Allura and Emperor Lotor.
- After Kolivan and Krolia retire, Keith becomes the new Leader of the Blade of Marmora together with Axca.
- Allura becomes the Black Paladin.
- I don’t know who’ll be the Blue Paladin yet.
- Curto doesn’t happen.
- The Lions don’t leave.
- Kaxca and Shlav happens.
- No Altean Lance at all.
Lotor and Allura will have 2 children:
- Prince Alfor the II. and Princess Honerva
23 years old, the royal twins, with Princess Honerva being older. Princess Honorva is a great warrior and future Empress. Prince Alfor is a talented alchemist and diplomat.
Everyone’s ages for the Loturra Reality:
Allura: „59”
Lotor: „61”
Shiro: 62
Lance: 54
Keith: 57
Hunk: 55
Pidge: 52
Shendak Reality:
Oh boy, here comes another hard one. This Reality is probably the most different of all and the least worked out. This is basically Sendak redemption with Sendak not being That Bad™.
- Sendak has a strong sense of honor.
- After Voltron defeats Sendak, Zarkon denounce him a disgrace and „exiles” him from the Empire.
- They eventually meet him again and he eventually joins them.
- At first Sendak works with the Rebels later he joins the Blade of Marmora.
- Allura doesn’t die.
- Allurance happens.
- Altean Lance happens.
- Altea and Daibazaal are still reborn.
- The Lions don’t leave.
Shiro and Sendak will have 2 children:
- Arashi and Urax
25 years old, twins, with Urax being older. Both of them are pretty problematic, but strong warriors.
Uliro Reality:
This Reality is pretty much the same as canon, just with Ulaz surviving. That’s pretty much all that changes really.
- Ulaz survives the fight with the robobeast, he gets trapped in the pocket-dimension and they later free him with the help of Slav in the 3 years gap.
- Ulaz will be amongst the surviving members of the Blade.
- He meets with Shiro again no Earth after they defeat Sendak.
- Probably Galtean Klance will happen at some point? I don’t have that many details on this reality yet.
Ulaz and Shiro will have 1 son.
Some other ships that don’t have their own reality but happen in already mentioned realities:
- Thoran happens in the Klance Reality.
- Hunay also happens in the Klance Reality, also the Shallura Reality:
Hunk and Shay will have 1 daughter, 14 years old, Koru.
- Punk happens in the Sheith Reality.
- Allurance also happens in the Sheith Reality and the Shendak Reality
Allura and Lance will have 2 children, a girl 19 years old, and a boy 14 years old. They boy will have alchemy abilities. They don’t have names yet sorry.
- Laxum happens in the Shallura Reality.
Lance and Plaxum will have 2 children, 23 years old, twins a boy and a girl, they’ll both be amphibious, able to change between mermaid and human form.
- Kaxca happens in the Loturra Reality.
Axca and Keith are not related at all, and they’ll have 2 kids, a girl 19 years old, member of the Blade of Marmora, and Yorak, 14 years old boy.
- Thalaz happens in the Shallura Reality.
- Shlav also happens in the Loturra Reality, they’ll have 1 daughter, 13 years old, (Yami) Yumi, she was genetically made by the Galra from Shiro and Slav’s DNA, to see what happens if they mix their strongest and smartest captive: the answer is anxiety and bad impulse control.
Yeah, all the „Castle doesn’t get Destroyed” will be just solved by Allura pulling some Mary Sue magic thing, she does that often enough in canon.
And the „Allura doesn’t die” is basically that, most of these will be wiped out for some time when Honerva destroys all realities except 1, so when canon Allura sacrifices herself to save all realities these AU realites just get restored and they just normally fight and defeat Honerva. (Tho this depends on reality since in some of them the story takes a whole different turn from her to begin with.)
I’ll also add to this file as I go along and figure things out, but I think this is it for now!
OKAY THIS TOOK ME ALL NIGHT TO TYPE
Seriously I’m highkey proud of myself for finally sitting down and typing this up, even if it’s probably highkey cringey but fight me I’m still proud.
A Place to Call Home
Hello, wonderful readers! So this is something a little different from my usual one-shots, This is just some stuff about Keith. I had started thinking about the relationship between Shiro Keith and Adam and thought it would be something like this. By the way, I didn’t know if Adam had a last name (canon or otherwise) only that his initial was W, so i just picked a random Arabic last name because. If any of my Arab readers (hope I don’t offend with an umbrella term) have any suggestions for Adam’s last name, please let me know!
When he was a kid, Keith was never really into superheroes. It wasn’t that he didn’t like them--he thought most of them were interesting, like Captain America and Iron Man--but he never felt the need to buy everything with their faces plastered on it or fawn over the latest comic book issue. He never had unbridled adoration for these fictional superheroes. Instead, all his awe went to the real life superhero in his life--his dad.
For as long as 7 year old Keith could remember, his father had always been a superhero. He didn’t have cool super powers like Spiderman, but he saved people every day. He was strong, courageous, brave, and the best dad a kid could ever ask for. His dad had been a firefighter long before Keith was born, and he would tell him all the stories of his adventures. His dad worked pretty much all day, but he always made an effort to spend time with him. When his dad finally deemed him old enough, Keith would tag along and stay at the fire department. He spent most of the day coloring in the coloring books the rest of the crew gave him or simply running around the station. He would often steal his dad’s helmet and done it proudly as he stood on the table and proudly told the firefighters around him that one day he would be a firefighter and save people just like his dad. His bold statement would be accompanied with a round of cheers and jubilant laughter. Most of his days were spent like that: with laughter and joy and the simple delight of being with his dad.
His dad was a real life superhero, and while it was glorious at times, it was also devastating. Even as a kid, Keith understood that those nights when his dad came back all patched up and looking beat, that meant it had been a bad day. He understood that when he limped around their small apartment and winced, it was from more than just the physical pain. He understood that when his dad hugged him tightly and told him that he loved Keith in that wobbly, tearful tone, it meant that they had lost someone in the fire. He understood that October 30 was a day of mourning for the Koganes, and he knew that when his dad started tossing and turning at night calling out for ‘Krolia’, he should just lie at his side and hold him close. He understood that when he opened the door that dreadful night to a policeman with a pained expression that something bad had happened. And he understood by just looking at the firemen around the police officer and hearing their soft, pained “we’re so sorry, Keith” that his dad wasn’t coming home.
After that, Keith stopped believing in superheroes all together. He had no time to fantasize about heroes and adventures, he had to focus on where he was going to stay. He had no relatives willing to take him in, and no matter how hard the crew fought to keep him, the lawyer assigned to Keith thought it would be best from him to go into the system and find a stable family instead of getting raised by a “village” as she’d put it. He fought the decision, and even threatened to run away, but in the end, he boarded the first train out of Houston and to some orphanage in Oklahoma. The first couple of months he tried to behave and fit in, he really did, but no one else seemed to be making the same effort. The older kids were forever mad at the world, and the younger ones were focused on taking care of themselves more than others. After all, there was no point in making connections when all you wanted to do was get out of there.
Keith soon discovered how mean children could be. Whether they pointed out his “weird looking” eyes or rudely imitated him when he spoke Korean, they always seemed to find something odd to point out about Keith. The incessant teasing soon turned into rough shoves and harsh glares. After the first month or so of such treatment, Keith was fed up with it all. In the cloak of night, he ran away from the orphanage and bought a ticket back to Texas with some money he had stolen from the orphanage’s owner. Honestly, Keith had no idea what he was doing, all he knew was that he had to get out of that place. He knew he didn’t have family in Texas anymore, but the orphanage wasn’t any better. He was a smart kid, he could figure out what to do once he got there. Looking back, Keith realized that what he did was dumb, and he was glad that a pair of policemen found him and stopped him from boarding the train to Texas. The lawyer assigned to Keith’s case agreed to transfer him to another orphanage, but only if he didn’t run away again. Keith agreed, and in no time, he moved up to Oklahoma City. This time, he lasted almost 5 months before he became restless and itched to leave. A family had been interested in adopting him, but Keith refused. He wasn’t ready to be a part of a new family, and he felt like accepting their offer was like he was replacing his father, and he would never, ever do that. He ended up running away again, and as a result, he was transferred to a new orphanage. The same thing happened again and again; he would go to an orphanage, get in fights, run away, then be sent to a new one and the cycle would repeat. He hoped from orphanage to orphanage, from family to family, never quite finding a place where he belonged. For years, it seemed that he just didn’t belong anywhere. It wasn’t until his 12th birthday that he had a little hope for happiness.
At the orphanage he was staying at for the time being, they allowed you to pick a place to spend your birthday as long as it was within their ability to take you there. Most kids wanted to go to the movie theater or a skating rink, but Keith wasn’t really interested in anything in , particular. Earlier that day, he’d seen a poster advertising the opening of the galaxy branch at their local museum, so when he was asked where he wanted to go, he chose to go to the museum on a whim. Though their caretaker was surprised by his answer. She agreed and took Keith and the rest of the kids to the museum. Once there, they were allowed to run wild. Most of them paired up and went to look at the dinosaur exhibits, but Keith decided to stay on his own and go to the new galaxy exhibit.
To put it in simple words, it was breathtaking. The room was dark, and there was a pattern of stars painted on every wall. Constellations littered the ceiling, peeking out behind the large planets that hung from the wall. The sun hung right above the entrance and glowed faintly with yellow light which pulsed every now and then to imitate a dancing sunspot. From there, the inner planets followed. Mercury was a mild grey one minute, but it jumped to life with swirls of gold and blue that ran across the surface of the planet, swift as the Roman god it had been named after. Venus hung large and proud, glowing with the light of a thousand fires, its beauty unmatched by the others. Beside it hund Earth. It was about the same size, but the contrast of colors--one dark red, the other blue and green--made it stand out beside the vain planet. The white clouds moved lazily across the face of the blue and green planet, and they twisted to and fro like a group of gymnasts tracing the path of the winds. The last inner planet, Mars, was a furious red that reminded Keith of a time long ago and stories of heroic firefighters saving the day. His lips quirked up slightly at the thought.
Following the inner planets, a ring of meteorites hung across the exhibit. The shape of the space rocks varied from pebble sized to boulder sized. They were lined up neatly and meticulously and stood firmly in place, like a line of soldiers holding back enemy intruders. Behind the army of asteroids was the outer planets. The outer planets were much larger than the inner planets, and their moons surrounded them. Jupiter, the biggest planet in our solar system, hung low enough that when Keith stood right under it, he could vaguely see all the wires and lights hid behind the thin, sand colored cloth. It looked calm and peaceful for the most part, but in intervals of 10 minutes, a raging storm blew across the surface of the grand planet, bringing with it the rage and power associated with the Roman god of lightning. Where Jupiter was large and intimidating, Saturn was all elegance and grace. The yellow planet’s large rings shined delicately as if they had been constructed with ice from space itself. Though the circumference was impressive, the rings were barely thicker than a stack of papers. Next, to Saturn hung Uranus, the planet with the infamous funny name. For all the giggles it caused, the planet itself was beautiful. Its surface was painted with a dusty baby blue shone softly and paler than the elegant Saturn before it and the glorious Neptune after it. Neptune was a shade of blue Keith had never seen. It was bold and attracted the attention of anyone who walked by it. It proudly hung at the end of the solar system, and its radiance seemed to rival the sun’s. After Neptune, where Pluto should have been, was an entrance to a smaller room inside the exhibit. The sign above the entrance proudly deemed it “A Journey Through Space” and encouraged him to take a pair of 3D glasses. He did just what the sign suggested and walked in to experience space. Like the rest of the exhibit, the room was dimly lit, and stars littered the walls and ceiling. But here, meteors drifted by, and shooting stars zipped through space. Everything was much closer and the occasional space fact popped up on one of the walls. He didn’t mind the interruption, in fact, he thought the fascinating facts added to the experience. Unfortunately, the trip through space ended, but he had been rewarded with a thin book about space and a pin that identified him as a space cadet.
Eventually, his birthday and the trip to the museum came to an end, but Keith wasn’t sad. On the contrary, he was happier than he’d ever been in years. He no would no longer have to deal with the constant search for a place to call home, he now knew where he belonged. He belonged in space. He decided that he’d work hard and do everything that he could to go to space and become a real life space cadet. It didn’t matter if he didn’t feel at home in any of these orphanages or cities, they were just stepping stones for his goal, his future. Keith looked at the back of the pin and smiled down at the name inscribed in it. Galaxy Garrison. That’s where his home would be. There, at the Galaxy Garrison, he would find his place.
Keith worked hard to get into the Garrison. He took every advanced class offered at his high school, worked on his anger issues, and had read every book on space and piloting that he could find. When application season came, he busted his butt on them and spent weeks perfecting his essays and recommendations. After his application was submitted, he would rush to the mailbox every morning and searched through the mail for the familiar grey and orange G. It wasn’t until early spring that he received his reply. When Keith spotted the Garrison’s insignia, he grabbed the letter and ran to his room. He paced restlessly back and forth, holding the letter tightly to his chest. He was afraid of opening it. What if they were rejecting him? What if he hadn’t won any of their scholarships? What if--
He stopped and stared at the picture on his bedside of him and his dad. That picture and the dark-hilted knife his father always had were the only things he had left from his dad. He tried to rarely think about his dad so as to not get sad, but on this rare occasion, he did. He sat down on his bed and looked at the picture. His dad was beaming back at him, and his words whispered softly in his mind. You can do anything as long as you believe in yourself. With a shaky sigh, Keith carefully opened the letter and read the printer words: Keith Kogane, we are happy to inform you that you have been accepted to the Galaxy Garrison and are the fortunate recipient of a full-ride scholarship. Congratulations.
That was the first time since his dad died that he’d cried from joy.
When he met Takashi Shirogane, he was convinced that he’d met a superhero for the second time in his life. Junior Officer Takashi Shirogane wasn’t a teacher at the Garrison, he was an exploration pilot, but he would often poke his head in during pilot training. He was well known around the Garrison for being the best pilot of his time. Everyone looked up to him, and Keith was no exception. He was determined to be just as good of a pilot, if not better, than the famous exploration pilot. And if his simulation scores were anything to go off of, he was well on his way to being the best pilot of his generation. Keith knew that he was an amazing pilot, but he tried not to let it get to his head. He still stayed up late to study for exams and spent hours doing his homework just like everyone else. Whenever the flight simulator was open for practice, Keith would spend hours practicing and perfecting his technique. He continued to stay at the top of his class and people started to notice.
“Space is the boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects and events have relative position and direction. Physical space is often conceived in three linear dimensions, although modern physicists usually consider it--” A knock on the door interrupted Mr. Wahim’s lecture. He turned to look through the little window in the door and scowled when he saw who it was. “Oh for goodness sakes,” he mumbled. “Class, read pages 100 to 120 from your book tomorrow and take clear notes. Make sure you understand the lesson because we will be taking a quiz on it.” He ignored the groans that followed and walked over to the door. He opened it just enough to poke his head through to talk with the person on the other side. Unlike his classmates, Keith ignored his teacher’s conversation and focused on reading the lesson assigned to them. The theory of the black hole was one of the most difficult things to study let alone understand, so he was determined not to waste any precious work time Mr. Wahim gave him. He was about to start the theory of general relativity when the curious hushed whispers became excited exclamations. Keith looked up to see what his classmates were so excited about and almost let out a cry of surprise of his own when he saw who was standing beside Mr. Wahim.
Takashi Shirogane smiled back at the classroom full of awe-struck teenagers. “I’m sorry to interrupt the class, but I just came by to talk with Mr. Wahim.”
“Even though Mr. Shirogane knows perfectly well that I have a class in session,” Mr. Wahim reprimanded him, but there was no real harshness behind his words.
Mr. Shirogane’s smile turned sheepish. Mr. Wahim relented and waved at his awe-struck students. “The bell rings in 30 seconds, go ahead and pack up your things. Don’t forget the assignment.” The class rushed to collect their things and went back to whispering excitedly.
“What do you think they have to talk about?”
“I don’t know but there probably won’t be talking at all. Didn’t you hear that they’re dating?”
“Wow, if Mr. Wahim let the class out 30 seconds before the bell for him then they must be.”
Keith ignored the gossip and collected his things. Next he had lunch, so he’d head to the library and get some homework done. Maybe if he finished early he might be able to get a couple practice hours in.
“Keith, can you stay back for a minute?” Mr. Wahim called out to him.
There was a low chorus of “ooh”s, and Keith rolled his eyes at his classmates immature response. He stepped away from the door and made his way to Mr. Wahim’s desk. Once the rest of his classmates had filed out the door, it was Mr. Shirogane who spoke first, much to Keith’s surprise. “So you’re the one who is trying to beat my record.”
Keith blinked, dumbfounded. “What?”
From beside him, Mr. Wahim scoffed. “I told you not to start like that. You’ll intimidate the poor kid.”
Mr. Shirogane rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Right, I forgot.” He cleared his throat and stuck his hand out for Keith to shake. “Sorry, let me start over. Hi, I’m Takashi Shirogane. I’m a pilot for the Garrison, and I think you have some pretty impressive skills.”
“What?” Keith repeated. Apparently when faced with his idol all he could say was that cursed one letter word. It was embarrassing.
Mr. Shirogane seemed to find his response endearing. “You’re doing really well in your classes and you’re way ahead of you classmates. You are an impressive cadet, and I just wanted to let you know that if you ever want a training buddy or maybe some flying tips, I’m here.”
Finally, Keith could get enough control to respond. “Wait, isn’t that favoritism.”
“Well, yes, but if we say that you asked for the help and I’m simply mentoring you, then there shouldn’t be a problem. Anyway, every teacher has a favorite,” Mr. Shirogane admitted.
“That is true,” Mr. Wahim confirmed from his desk. He was grading the class’ solar system test. He motioned towards a large pile of papers. “They, for instance, are not my favorites.” He held up a small stack of 4 papers. “These are my favorites.”
Keith was tempted to ask if he was one of the four. “I appreciate the offer, but why me?”
“Like I said, you have the making of an amazing pilot,” Mr. Shirogane said. “Plus,” he added. “You remind me of myself when I was your age. Determined, ambitious--”
“--reckless, easily irritable,” Mr. Wahim added.
He ignored his comment. “So, what do you say?”
Keith didn’t have to think about it for too long. “Yes, of course. Thank you, Mr. Shirogane.”
The older pilot smiled. “Call me Shiro.”
Ever since then, Keith started spending more time with Shiro, and consequently Mr. Wahim--or Adam as he insisted Keith call him. Usually, they worked on Keith’s piloting and hand to hand and weapons combat. Keith had known that he was a good pilot and a good fighter, but beside Shiro, he was the opposite. He grilled flight plans and maneuvers into his head and pushed him to his limits. Though Keith had always worked hard in his classes, they had never required him to push himself, but training with Shiro did. Surprisingly enough, there was no real backlash to their afterhours training, in fact, the commanders seemed to encourage it. What better way to improve than to train with someone willing to share their knowledge and skill. In the beginning, some of his classmates were bitter towards Keith, but they quickly took this as a challenge to improve and become better themselves. Some even found junior officers or teachers to serve as their mentors.
Aside from the training, Keith spent time with Shiro just to hang out with him. He learned that despite his spotless record, Shiro could be more than a little reckless. One day after training, Keith and Shiro were sitting on a dune overlooking the endless sand surrounding the Garrison.
“Have you ever flown outside of the simulator before?” Shiro asked him.
“No,” Keith replied. “Apparently we’re not ready to fly yet.”
“Do you think you’re ready?” Shiro asked.
“Yes,” he immediately said.
“Good because this would have been a waste if you didn’t.” Shiro stood up and walked towards a pile of rocks nearby.
“What do you mean--” Keith was cut off by a low rumbling sound coming from behind the rocks. He frowned and ran to see what was causing the noise. When he rounded the boulders, he stopped in surprise and gaped in awe. There, standing before him, were two gliders. They were small, intended to be for only one person, and if the light scratches and worn down paint was anything to go off of, they were certainly not new. The Garrison’s insignia was stamped on the hull of each glider.
“They old gliders the Garrison used to use for pilot training, They’ve got some new, updated versions, so they don’t need them. I offered to take a pair off their hands,” Shiro explained.
“Wow,” Keith whispered softly. He walked over and touched the side of one of the gliders. The metal was cold under his fingertips, and he could feel the rough patches where the whipping sand had eroded the metal. The glider seemed to purr softly in response to his touch.
“So, Keith, ready to go on your first flight?” Shiro asked.
In response, Keith hopped into the small cockpit. Shiro laughed at his enthusiasm and climbed into the other glider. “All right, the controls are the same as the ones in the simulator, but it might take you some time to get used to them, so take it slow at first and they’re kind of old so--”
Keith made quick work of the control and zoomed forward. He cheered in delight. He flew past the sandy dunes and thin desert plants. He flew higher and grinned as the desert and the night sky alike became simple blurs of light. As he pushed forward and tore through the sky, he felt free. All his life, he’d been running away from his past and his present, and now, here flying through the night with no worries but the road ahead of him, he felt like he was running towards something. What it was, he couldn’t tell, but he did know that he never wanted to stop feeling like this.
Apparently, the universe had a different plan.
The glider gave a couple of jerks and started to slow down. Keith frowned and pushed on the controls, but it only seemed to make the glider stall more. He barely had enough to veer out of a boulder’s way before the glider skid to an abrupt, bumpy halt. Thankfully, the glider was equipped for sliding on the desert sand, so there wasn’t much damage done to either Keith or the glider itself. Keith popped open the overhead door and climbed out of the glider. Dark smoke started coming from the glider, so Keith stepped back. They had learned that black smoke wasn’t too bad of a sign and there wasn’t any immediate threat of the glider blowing up, but the sight of the billowing smoke made his heart squeeze. He knew that there was no danger, that there were no flames, but his skin got hotter and his breathing became labored. Images played across his mind: the firestation, a burning building he’d never seen but imagined so clearly, his dad. His dad. His vision became blurry, and he almost missed the second glider landing gracefully beside him. The smoke crowded his vision, and the only indication of someone else’s presence was the comforting arms that wrapped around his small frame.
“Hey, it’s okay, I’ve got you,” Shiro whispered soothingly. “I’m right here, okay? Your safe. Just breathe, breathe with me.”
It took a couple more minutes for the shaking to stop and a couple after that for the tears to stop. Keith leaned against Shiro and breathed with him. He allowed himself to just exist in the peace of the moment, and found comfort in the still night sky and Shiro’s comforting words. Eventually, Keith pulled away. “Sorry,” he said softly.
Shiro smiled softly. “Don’t worry about it. I can always get a new glider. Next time, just take it easy, these things are pretty old.” They both knew that he wasn’t talking about the glider, but Keith appreciated.
Shiro nodded in the direction of the Garrison. “Come on, let’s head home. You’ve got homework to do, and Adam will get mad if we stay up to late.”
Keith nodded and walked alongside him. Home, he thought with a smile. Maybe, just maybe, he had found his home.
Keith stuffed his books into his bag and made his way out of the library. Next week, he had exams coming up, and he had been spending all the time he could studying in the library. He would have done it at the apartment, but he thought Adam and Shiro deserved some them time. They hadn’t had any date nights and Adam was getting a little grumpy about it.
As he made his way out of the library, he passed by two cadets who had their heads craned over a large textbook. He vaguely recognized them from his class. Hunk and Taylor? Something like that. They were pretty talented cadets too, and they worked really hard. They were practically attached at the hip and Keith had never seen one without the other. He sighed and pulled his bag closer. It would be nice to have friends like that, it would make this day a little better. Maybe he would talk to them one day.
Keith made a stop at Adam’s classroom, but was surprised to find it empty. He was usually in here till 4 and it was barely 3. He shrugged it off and walked to the post. The post office was by the staff’s lounge and was where any mail for commanders and teachers was kept. The woman behind the desk barely spared him a look when he went over to Shiro and Adam’s boxes. The couple often sent him to do little errands like get the mail, so they were used to seeing him around. After picking up the mail, he walked to Shiro and Adam’s shared apartment. Keith had never officially moved in with them, it had just happened. Keith was over so much that Adam eventually gave their spare room to Keith. Even though he technically had a dorm room, Keith stayed over at the apartment, He wasn’t sure if he could consider it his home yet, so he just took to referring to it as “the apartment”.
Once he arrived, Keith placed his hand to the glass panel to open the door, but instead of opening, the panel glowed red with the words “access denied” glaring at him. Keith frowned and tried again. The door stayed closed He double checked to make sure that it was the right apartment. When he confirmed that it was, he stepped up to the door and tried the old fashioned way. He rapped his knuckles against the metal door. “Hey! It’s me, Keith. The panel’s acting up and it won’t let me in,” he called.
He was met with a couple minutes of silence before a quick “coming!” answered.
Keith stepped back and waited. There were a few beeps and a click, and the door slid open. Adam smiled at him. “Hey. sorry, must have accidently manuely locked it.” He stepped back to allow Keith to go inside. “Let’s go the the kitchen, Keith!” Adam insisting, raising his voice.
Keith frowned at the man. “Um . . . okay?” He followed Adam to the kitchen. As they go closer to the kitchen, Keith caught a faint whiff of something sweet. “Hey, why does it smell like--”
“Happy Birthday, Keith!” Adam and Shiro cheered in unison once they entered the kitchen. In Shiro’s hands was a hazardously frosted cake with a single lit candle. The words ‘Happy Birthday, Keef!’ were written in Adam’s elegant handwriting in red frosting.
Keith blinked. He was at a loss for words. He didn’t even know that Adam and Shiro knew what this day meant to him.
“You don’t like it,” Shiro concluding. He lowered the cake and his smile seemed to drop with it.
“No!” Keith hurried to exclaim. “It’s not that, I just . . . didn’t expect it. I didn’t even know you guys knew.”
“We didn’t until yesterday,” Adam admitted. “I was updating my student’s records and I noticed your birthday.”
“You hadn’t mentioned anything, so we thought it would be nice to make a surprise for you,” Shiro said.
Keith starred at the couple. Shiro was nervously standing behind the counter surrounded with what must have been some of Adam’s best cooking, and Adam stood beside him with a hand on his shoulder. They had planned all of this and done this all last minute just for him? He knew how busy they both were and the fact that they took the time to make something for his birthday made a smile break out on Keith’s face. “Thanks,” he said.
Adam and Shiro’s smiles matched his and they quickly went about setting the table for dinner. Keith insisted on helping, but Adam shooed him away and told him to wash up for dinner. Keith smiled and went to the sink to wash his hands. As they ate, they made idle chit chat about their days, Shiro’s missions, Adam’s classes, and Keith’s upcoming exams/ Shiro promised to help Keith study, but only if he stopped staying up too late. Keith couldn’t seem to stop smiling, not that he wanted to. He honestly couldn’t remember a birthday as amazing as this one. After his dad died, Keith usually spent his birthdays alone, so he had stopped celebrating them all together. But now, here he was, surrounded by people he wholeheartedly believed loved and cared about him. He couldn’t be happier.
Shiro collected the plates and took them back to the kitchen. When he returned, he was carrying a thin, rectangular present. “It’s not much,” Shiro admitted, “but we hope you like it.”
Keith took the present from Shiro’s outstretched hands and opened the wrapping paper carefully. Inside, there was something more valuable to Keith than anything anyone other than his father had ever given him. Inside, there was a red picture frame with a picture of Adam, Shiro, and Keith. It had been Adam and Shiro’s anniversary and they had invited Keith to go outside the base with them. Keith had insisted on staying, saying that it was their anniversary and that they should spend it together. They had laughed at his response, and insisted that they should spend the day together as a family. That had been the first time they had called their little trio a family, and Keith had cried. At the sight of his tears, Shiro had panicked and Adam hurried to apologize. Keith had only smiled and told them that he’d be ready in a couple minutes. In the photo, Shiro had one arm around Adam and the other was ruffling Keith’s hair. Adam’s hand rested on Keith’s shoulder, and all three of them were beaming. In black, elegant cursive the word ‘family’ was written along the bottom length of the frame.
Keith stared down at the picture and was silent for a moment. He looked up at Adam and Shiro’s smiling faces and he knew he was done searching for a home. He had the perfect on right in front of him.
Dorks in Another Reality
Would someone like to tell me why the keep reading option isn't something to apply on the all anymore?
Leakari fanfic! Cause there is no tickle first of them and I'm jumping on the band wagon. However they are going to act like the 80's cartoon (minus extra cringe... Hopefully).
Akari wandered up and down the halls of the castle looking for his boyfriend. As he walks the sound from the heel of his white boots bounced off the walls. "Leo, " he called out for around the third time.
They were supposed to have breakfast together, and other things, that morning. But the country boy decided to flake on him last second.
"Pidge Hunk, have you seen Leonardo? " Both looked at each other before shaking their head. "Sorry pal, last time I saw him was at dinner last night. " Suddenly a goblin like, demonic voice replied.
"Say... Your his boyfriend. From what I could hear you were the last one white saw him, " Pidge joked. Akari's face turned a light shade if pink.
They'd only cuddled last night, he knew the guy was joking. "Very funny Pidge. But I'm serious, what if something bad happened to him?" Sanarios of Haggar capturing his beloved Cuban and turning him into a Robeast began to playout with in his mind.
Noticing the sudden fearful expression Hunk nudged Pidge angerly. "Relax Akari, he'll turn up eventually." He covered Pidge's mouth before he could make another... adult.... joke.
Akari let out a sigh. "I sure hope your right. "
It was around lunch time now, and there was still no sign of Leonardo. Deeming it too hot for his red jump suit, Akari pulled on a red tank top and some shorts.
They were the lastest fashion trend (before he left) on earth. The tank top could fit two fingers on the steps with ease, but his black shorts... were about mid-palm on his thighs. Smooth, soft, creamy skin was exposes to the elements it hadn't seen in far too long.
He had pulled his mullet back and grabbed a pair of shades off his dresser before heading towards the outdoors.
"Oh! Akari, there you are! " The male froze, he felt his heart almost stop. He knew the princess liked him, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her about his "secret" romance.
"I needed to ask you... Oh, " her face turned a bright red as she shyly turned away. Another benifit of Leonardo was he didn't blush as easily. Normally it was a pervy blush, or the occasional flustered or embarrassed. He liked to keep his "bad boy" reputation.
"Yes... What is it princess? " he asked trying to fight back his own blush. Nanny could be heard from around the corner and that was the last thing she needed to see him in. "Allura! You have studying to do! " The blonde girl looked pleadingly at Keith.
"I was never here, " the boy nodded. As she dashed off he caught glimpse of the blue dress and white apron. Deciding to follow the girl's leave he took off in a sprint to the front doors. Exiting, he decided to check by the pond.
The boy was drawn to water which only makes sense as he used to be the blue paladin. Upon coming to the nice water the newly bloomed flowers caught the captain's attention.
He hunkered down and began to pick some of the purple and white flowers, oblivious to the shadow forming behind him. Until...
He screamed throwing his bouquet into the air. Pulling his arms to his side he kicked his legs and laughed hysterically. "Lheheho! " The red paladin continued to vibrate his trapped hands in the hallows.
To play a game with his boyfriend, or to just tickle him to death? Decissions, decissions. Actually both seemed fun! Keeping his mouth shut he pried his arms free and did what he could to keep Akari from looking at him.
"Ahahaha! Leonardo let me gohohoho, " Akari giggled as he moved to the boys ribs. Still no answer. It had to be Leonardo, only he knew about how sensitive the black paladin was.
Leonardo switched from underarms, to the guy's chest, to his tummy, to what he could reach of the other's thighs. Akari snorted and bucked softly. "H-Hey! Whahahit! Nahahaha! " He wanted to confront him about this morning, but at the moment that seemed out of the question.
Mustering as much strength ad he could he prepared him self to dislodge the handsome attacker. However, Leonardo could feel the sudden energy focus and wrapped his legs around Akari's torso.
"Brhehehak! Plhehehase! " Seeing his plans were ruined, the Korean man did what he thought would be the next best way of escaping. Beg.
Not that he would do this on the battle field, oh no! Just he knew the cocky male had a weakness for him. Letting up Leonardo sighed happily before pulling Akari back into him.
"Well hello your highness, " he joked softly. He nuzzled his face into the crook of the dark haired man's neck. Akari giggled, brining his arms up to hold the other's. The adorable snorts and squeaks encouraged Leonardo this start gently kissing the area.
"Hehehey! I'm mhahahd at you! Ahahaha! C-Cut it out, " Akari giggled. Pulling his head back up, Leonardo moved them around a but so that he could still hold his boyfriend, and also clearly see his face.
This resulted in him sitting with his legs crossed, on arm supporting Akari's back, the other helping pull him in for a hug. The black clothed bottom was resting in the smaller circle made by Leonardo's limbs.
"Mad at me? For what, this? " Akari held him self, leaning into the bare chest. He kicked his legs and laughed helplessly as Leonardo began to tickle his thighs. "This morning, " he cried between peals of laughter.
Stopping the other behind to playfully think. Rather and rubbing at his own chin, he kept the smaller in giggles by scratching under his. "What was this morning again, " he pondered to mainly himself.
"Wehhehe were supposed to have bhehe-- breakfast together! " Oh... Crap. "Wait that was today? I'm so sorry! " He pulled the Korean into a hug.
Akari took in a gasp of air. "That's not why I'm mad... well not all of it. Where were you? I couldn't find you anywhere! " The other froze, a slight blush on his face.
"Um... training. " It was the truth. He'd wanted to gain some shape muscles. And it was so not to impress Akari! "All morning? " He may have been taking it a little to serious.
"Uh... yeah, " Leonardo blushed slightly. Akari knew something wasn't right. "Are you lying to me? " He flinched at those words. "Of course not! Why would I lie to you, " Leonardo poke with a flirtatious tone, ephasisig on the "you" As he poked Akari's tummy.
Akari giggled softly, covering his mouth with a slight blush. "So then you really were in the training room... All morning? Why didn't you ask Hunk, Pidge, or I to join? Or the... Princess, " his last statement tried of slightly.
All of Voltron, with the exception of himself and Sven, had a crush on Allura. She was a beautiful woman after all! But typicallyen only tried to buck up to get someone's attention, or at least that's how he saw it.
Well.... In Leonardo's case. "Nope, stop right there. " It was too late. "So it's not for Allura? " He jumped as a hand vibrated on his side. "No... I'm saving it for someone... Better, " he practically purred the last part.
Akari continued to giggle softly. He didn't mind tickling, but right now he wanted to be serious. He was upset about this morning! And a tickle fight wasn't getting the point across.
"Lheheho sthshahp! I whahana to have a conversation! " The other sighed, dropping the offending hand. "Yes? "
Catching his breath, he slumped against the other, mindlessly playing along his bare chest. He could see some improvement from a few weeks ago, but not at the rate the "bad boy" was hoping for.
"This morning. I was really worried about you! None of us knew where you were. You bailed on me, " he pouted slightly. Leonardo sighed softly, he ran his fingers along the boy's spine.
Akari shivered in pleasure. It tickled, but it felt really nice. "I'm sorry baby I forgot it was this morning. I didn't want the guys maiming fun of me so I just... Didn't tell anyone. " Akari sat up slightly. "Why didn't you tell me? I could have trained with you, " his eyes droped slightly as a smirk came onto his face.
"We could have... Trained in more ways than one. " Oh? Leonardo chuckled before pressing a kiss against the other's temple. "Tonight maybe, " he cooed. "I'll take you out for dinner tonight too! We can eat under the moon and stars and just talk! "
Akari snorted at the look of excitement on Leonardo's face. "I love you. " The Cuban smiled. "I love you too. "
They sat in silence for a few moments before Akari realized something. "Wait... Why would the guys make fun of you for working out? " He knew something was going on when Leonardo's face turned bright red.
"You know them! Always gotta make fun of one of us in some way... shape... oh no. " Akari had that smile. The one Leonardo knew too well. "Akari! Baby, sweetheart, pudding, pumpkin! Can't we talk about this? "
Akari giggled. "Really? You just tickled me nonstop for like a half hour, and now you don't want to be even touched. " Touched his ass. He knew what was going on here!
"Touching is fine. Tickling me... in public... however. " He had a reputation to keep! He was a "bad boy", Akari was just a little sweetheart. It was cute to watch cuties laugh, not bad asses!
Akari played on his own smirk, gently dusting his fingers over the bare chest. "What public? It's just you, me, the fish, flowers, a bee here and there. No people. Just us... and your horribly ticklish tummy! "
Leonardo shrieked with laughter. "Akari! Akari! Nahaha! " Why he was just yelling his boyfriend's name rather than stop, he had no clue. His mind was scattered at the moment.
"Yes, " the captain asked innocently enough. "That tickles! Ahahhahaha! It tickles! Sthahahhap! " Akari chuckled. His bad ass was such a "fake". He was too sweet, to cute!
Well at least when it came to him and their friends. He giggled himself, "That's kind of the point Leo! " He couldn't take it anymore.
The Cuban fell back against the soft grass, taking his boyfriend with him. Akari stopped as he squeaked. Leonardo had wrapped his arms around the smaller to protect him on landing.
Panting, he closed his eyes. "Your going to kill me one day with that, " he groaned. The other chuckled slightly. I thought that was this. He vibrated his hand so that the navel was lined up with the middle of his palm. Leonardo bucked so harshly that Akari was actually air born for a moment.
"That's it! " He pinned the other in the grass before lifting his arms. The way Akari squirmed and giggled with anticipation was almost enough to make Leonardo melt. Almost.
He danced his fingers into his boyfriend's hallows, making the pale knees rise to his chest before his shins started to dance about. "Eep! Thahaht tickles! " Leonardo chuckled before planting little kisses along Akari's cute face. "As you said before, kind of the point my dear! "
He began to tickle his ribs, making Akari squirm and bite his lip. This was more of a game now! He wasnt going to giggle or laugh if he could help it.
Leonardo smirked, accepting the challenge he released Akari's arms. The other pouted in co fusion before a look of horror came across his face. "Wait wait wait! No no, no, no, nahahahhaha! "
He screamed when Leo trapped his ankles between his legs and began to tickle his socked soles. He had removed the sneakers already. "Okay, I'm sorry! Plahahhehehahse nhohot there! "
He skittered by the toes earning a squeakish scream. Akari fell back just allowing ho self to shriek and scream. "Leo, " he cried every now and then.
Feeling merciful, Leonardo let up his attack. Grabbing the creamy ankle once more, he began to leave little kisses up his boyfriend's leg. Under the knee, between the thighs, to the hip, along the abdomen (blowing a tiny raspberry on the navel), in the middle of the chest, the side of his neck, to his rosy cheeks.
Akari giggled and squirmed slightly the whole time. "I love you, " Leo chuckled. "I love you too, " Akari giggled. "But you didn't answer me. Why would they make fun of you, " he panted, prodding at Leo's side.
Leonardo giggle and jerked away, leaving his tummy exposed. Akari took the bate, knocking him down. "Okay! Okay! I whahahnted thohoho impress you! "
Akari stopped, looking at him in disbelief. "What, " he laughed. Leonardo blushed slightly. "I wanted to get... A better shape... Like to impress you. " Akari smiled and planted a kiss on the Cuban's face.
"You do impress me! But if you want to get stronger, I won't stop you. " He gasped when he was lifted off the ground, bridal style. "Leo! " The other laughed.
"Oh, I so will be, " he cheered before spinning his lover around. Akari squealed, giggling like something out of a cheesy romance.
"I love you. "
"I love you too. "
Paper Skin Trivia/Headcanons
Well, here’s my (abbreviated) Paper Skin headcanon/trivia lists for the main characters. Let me know if you have any questions or want me to expand any more?
Lance
Cuban and Spanish, raised by his Mom and Grandma, came to US when he was 4.
06/21 ETA: Born a werewolf, as were his brothers and sister (werewolf bloodlines in this AU are Matrilineal and he's descended of only wolfmothers, more on that soooooon).
Refers to Cindy as Mama Garrett and Henry by his first name because he is still a little detached (was raised without his dad present in Cuba so it feels weird)
Loves to climb trees and go up high, instinctively longs to climb mountains.
Didn't do that great at school so he decided to put off college and wound up becoming a jack-of-all-trades and a self-taught chef.
Cooking helps him remember his mother, makes him feel closer to her.
Is a cat person, doesn't like dogs and especially hates coyotes and jackals instinctively. (Will try to maul a jackal on sight. Coyotes just get angry growls.)
LOVES cats of all kinds. Will befriend mountain lions during full moon much to their surprise, or break into a zoo and make nice with all the big cats if left unattended.
Okay so one time when he was a teenager he got into the Bronx Zoo and first tried to chill with the leopards/black panther in the jungle exhibit but it was closed, then he tried to go see the snow leopards & the tigers but couldn't get into their enclosures. Somehow figured out how to get to the Lions.
He mauled a rare deer and dragged it into the Lion enclosure to present to them and become an honorary member of the pride.
The Garretts and some other members of their pack had to break in and drag him away
The Lions were not happy that they lost their new pack member but got over it.
Whenever he visits the zoo as a guest you could SWEAR they recognize him and call out to him.
When he's a wolf he prefers deer or other hoofed mammals and second favorite is rodents. (Ends up eating birds just because of his natural tree-climbing instincts. Also he knows Hunk likes them so he brings him pigeons and quails.)
All time favorite thing he's eaten as a wolf was a Moose that he caught for Keith (will explain in a future chapter) with a very lost and confused Caribou as a runner up.
Least favorite is crow or birds of prey but he gets short-sighted when he's wolfy and sometimes just hunts for the thrill of it. He's taken down a red-tailed hawk and an Eagle owl.
Favorite music: Shakira (prefers her ¿Dónde Están Los Ladrones?-era stuff), Gorillaz, TV on the Radio, Robyn, Rihanna
Keith
Was brought into the Shirogane clan at around age 12/13.
Identifies as Asian-American since his Dad was part Korean but does not know where his mom came from. Assumes she was of a mixed background as well.
His dad was sired by Akira Kogane, who was of Chinese and Japanese descent so he wonders if that filters down with vampire progeny?
Speaks very little Japanese, enough to answer Shiro if he uses a well-known phrase but not enough to converse
Has a recurring nightmare where tree branches start growing out of his throat and choke him
Really wants a motorcycle but will settle for a car of his own. Doesn't want Shiro to buy it, he's saving his own money.
He's actually a very good driver and Shiro will let him drive his vehicles.
Studied outside of school with help from coven members that were teachers as also some help from Pidge and the Holts so he was able to get his GED at 19
Very glad he has Umbra for a pet because she is very good at helping him figure out the time of day based on her behavior and feeding habits (yes he forgets that his phone will tell him the time and weather conditions because he is so used to living completely indoors)
Has a bug-out room in the apartment he shares with Lance. It's much bigger than the closet corner and has room for some emergency supplies and he's put up some corkboards on the walls.
Prefers type O blood and tries to avoid AB because it's like OJ with pulp (there's too much extra antigens in it). Loves pork blood when it's Lance's recipe.
Favorite music: Dolly Parton, The Cure, MCR, Siouxsie & the Banshees and PJ Harvey
Hunk
Born a werewolf, mostly Grey wolf but there's some Asian/Japanese wolf ancestry
Full name is Tsuyoshi Garrett (born Tsuyoshi Seido but had it legally changed when Henry Garrett adopted him)
His mom is Cynthia Tsukiyama-Garrett, and birth father is Tsutomo "Tommy" Seido
He considers Henry Garrett his Dad, hence why he took his last name instead of going by Seido or changing it to Tsukiyama
Henry gave Hunk his nickname after his half-brothers teased him about being a "runt"
Was great at school and did some undergrad at Hunter, then left to go to culinary school.
He finished culinary school and worked at his Mom's bar while trying to figure out if he really wanted to work in a fancy restaurant that wouldn't give him time away for full moon stuff
First time he met Shay he choked on his own spit because his mouth went dry and he nearly passed out
Second time was a better impression, his little sisters both caught the flu and were in wolf-form and was finally able to be his sweet charming self because he was so focused on his sisters' well-being that he forgot to freak out that the pretty veterinarian was smiling at him.
Had a full blown panic attack when he cooked for Shay without knowing she was a vegetarian and inadvertently won her heart with how caring and concerned he was.
Is practicing making Kushari because Shay's family is Egyptian and he wants to impress them. He already makes fantastic hummus.
His preferred food as a wolf is any kind of fowl (sparrow, chicken, turkey, etc.) Secretly loves peacock, but resists the urge to break back into St. John the Divine's Cathedral to snarf one up.
Least favorite food as a wolf is any kind of seafood or fish. Loves them as a human but finds them too bony and briny when wolfed-out.
Favorite music: Matt and Kim, LCD Soundsystem, Beck, The Hold Steady, Broken Social Scene
Pidge
Irish-Italian, her parents are very lapsed Catholics
Currently in High School and will end up at Columbia after timeskip
Needs to study an animal before trying to shift. Often pictures or online video is enough but really does prefer to be up close and personal so she can nail any vocalizations that the audio distorts or doesn't quite catch.
Her dad has a mastery of most animal forms and also can do inanimate objects. Pidge will work on that next. It takes a lot of concentration and holding her breath
Keith is her favorite because he'll support her delinquency (he doesn't realize it) and she likes helping him figure societal conventions out. They talk or visit at least once a week if not more.
Pidge would make Keith do her homework as a way of home-schooling him (and it also reinforced whatever she was learning, meaning she'd ace every subject and test), it dropped off after Keith got his GED and started working. Schoolwork still is rather easy for her after so many years of teaching herself good study habits by tutoring Keith.
Shiro being ageless is a stable presence in her life, but she thinks of him as more of her brother's friend or like an eccentric uncle
(Pidge has many eccentric uncles and aunts due to her family being half fae descendants, and half metahumans)
Her favorite food is pancakes. Least favorite is eggplant.
Favorite music: Zoë Keating, Tricky, Portishead, Massive Attack, Modest Mouse
Allura
Was introduced to the underground supernatural community of NYC by her godfather, Coran.
Born and raised in London. Westbourne Gardens area.
Came to the US on student visa and goes to grad school for biochem. Phlebotomy is a way for her to make money and help out Shiro, as Coran's family has known of his for years
No, she doesn't know why Coran has that accent even though he's lived in Brooklyn for as long as she knows
Her pet "mice" are actually Degus. She likes carrying them around in her pockets or purse, they are very well-behaved.
She's never going to bring them NEAR Lance because she knows how much he loves eating fuzzy little rodents
Her favorite food is Candy Floss, least favorite is tomatoes.
Favorite music: Nina Simone, Lana Del Rey, anything Stevie Nicks has done, Ms. Dynamite and Kylie Minogue
Shiro
Names all his businesses after vampire things because he believes in hiding in plain sight (Shuten-dōji was the yokai/vampire that turned him)
Didn't return to his hometown after being turned into a vampire. Was too ashamed and scared he would hurt them. His neighbors and friends assumed he died in the Great Tenmei famine.
Despite his issues with aging, he's tried dying his hair but it looks awful so he just leaves the white streak
Was a very good horseback rider in his youth. Joined the military and was a skilled fighter.
It took a while for him to adjust to motor vehicles. He hit Hunk's grandmother with his car, (but that's how he found the Tsukiyama pack so it worked out and she was fine.)
First cat was named Bobō, a calico. Current cat is Kikō, a tabby.
Prefers type B blood but will settle for O or AB. Type A makes him sneeze after he eats.
Not really a music fan, prefers quiet. He really liked jazz when he first heard it so he sometimes puts on very old, worn-out LPs.
He answers to Takashi or Shiro. Shi-kun or Shi-chan to friends that use his honorifics, later Shiro-kun or Shiro-chan, when he took the nickname referring to the white streak in his hair.
He still has a bad habit of not responding if people address him by Shirogane alone.
(Because "Shirogane-san" was his twin's preferred name)
The crew are not "mean to Lance's character simply out of spite". They created this version of Lance and they love him. They showed this by giving him a wonderful character arc where he has grown from a flirty show-off with hidden insecurities into a respectful person who knows where his strengths lie and where they don't.
He knows he's a valued member of the team and is the team "sharpshooter". But he learned that (at that point in time) he was not ready for leadership, and instead set aside his want for glory and became and amazing right-hand man.
You can disagree with me on this point but in my opinion, Keith is the main character (if there is indeed one true main). All the main cast are really up there, but the show seems to focus more on Keith's story than the others. But that doesn't take anything away from Lance's arc which has been ongoing this entire time.
Stop claiming the creators are shitting on Lance to boost their own "white fave" because it's simply not true.
Lance is your fave? Good for you! He's awesome! But don't think you're more progressive than any other fan because your fave isn't white, but theirs is. (And btw, Keith is not confirmed white. Y'all were claiming he was Korean or Japanese til you decided he got too much screentime so now you've "demoted" him to "white" status).
"interviews on top of interviews about how unheroic and dumb" Lance is.
????
Link me. Because I've only seen one interview where it was mentioned that Lance was not as smart as the rest of the team. He's not necessarily dumb, but out of the main crew (which includes a couple of tech and engineering geniuses), Lance happens to be the least smart on the team.
Less smart than the others =/= dumb
And as for unheroic? Of course he's heroic. He was willing to give his life to save Allura. He'll risk a lot for the people he cares about.
But other characters could be considered "more heroic" because they'd risk everything for the greater good, not just for people or causes that personally matter to them. Allura is one who immediately springs to mind here.
Stop claiming Lance is hated by staff just because he's a comedic character. Or because he isn't number 1 in every single personality trait or special ability. He has flaws, like any good character; like any real person. And he recognises them and actively works to improve himself.
And that's exactly why I love canon Lance, exactly how he's been written.
