agust d - snooze ft. s!nea
on the last day of the kspo dome tour, everyone had ended up believing that siwan wouldn’t be attending the extended tour because he probably had something else scheduled that he couldn’t get out of, so notice everyone’s surprise when the man had walked up on that stage singing his part in snooze ( for context: instead of woosung collaborating on this song, siwan is instead ).
yoongi was actually unaware of siwan attending the concert in the first place because when he’d asked siwan if he was free, the younger had said he wasn’t. this had in fact been a ploy however, and something yoongi’s band had reached out to siwan to request prior so that they could surprise yoongi when he would walk up on that stage.
yoongi was genuinely shell shocked for a moment when he heard siwan’s voice harmonise with him out of nowhere, taking his ear piece out and everything because he thought he was imagining things until he turned around to bare witness to siwan walking up to him as he sang. yoongi immediately was wide eyed, stunned, before he broke out into a smile and sang along with siwan.
honestly yoongi has always been siwan’s biggest hype man. he was bopping his head to siwan’s verses, jumping around and creating ad libs and encouraging everyone to scream for him.
towards the end of the song, el capitxn had picked up the mic to inform siwan and all the armys in the dome of how yoongi had been disappointed and sad when siwan had mentioned that he wasn’t gonna be able to make it to the concert. this ended up making the rapper turn pink, complaining and trying to get yijeong to shut up. siwan couldn’t help but to smile fondly, saying “there’s nothing more important to me than you, hyung.”
s!nea - 1393
after finishing snooze, yoongi had informed him to sing any song he was comfortable with, before leaving the stage. this meant armys were in for one hell of a ride when siwan chose 1393; a song dedicated to his sister and suicidal youth, and named after one of the suicide prevention hotlines in south korea. siwan had never had the courage to sing this song live like this, but with the comforting cheers from everyone in the crowd, he was able to shake off his nerves.
his voice had cracked a few times throughout the song as he tried to hold himself back from crying. his eyes were glossy on the big screen and so armys collectively started chanting the all loving “everything will be okay” to him, causing him to smile and nod through his pain, pushing through to the very end.
after the song had ended, armys were cheering very loudly as siwan wiped his tears and gave a big, big bow as he thanked everyone. he had given a little speech saying “i wrote this song for someone very dear to me. my sister- you guys are probably aware, right? i lost my little sister to suicide a few years ago. this song is for her and everyone in the same situation as her. you’re not alone. i’m by your side.”
siwan was completely overwhelmed after this song, but luckily for him, yoongi was also running high on emotions tonight. he simply couldn’t hold himself back at that moment, hearing siwan’s words backstage, and so he’d made his way back onto the stage and pulled siwan into a tight hug in front of thousands of people at the dome as they cried into each other’s shoulders.
meeting the boys once again
upon finishing his role on stage, siwan had chosen to stay for the rest of the concert. he had caught wind of some of the other members being here, having already witnessed namjoon performing before him and so he was able to find a seat with the rest of them in the crowd.
he saw namjoon first as he excused himself towards the boys, ruffling his hand over the buzzed haircut namjoon was sporting before the male pulled siwan into a tight hug, telling him he was proud of siwan up on stage tonight and that “she’d be happy to hear you’re always by her side, wanie.” causing siwan to hug him tighter. he then proceeded to compliment namjoon up on stage too before asking him how things were going.
and then, the man moves onto hoseok and seokjin, saluting the duo respectfully and yet cheekily as they do the same back. they then each pull siwan into a hug, telling him he did well on stage before they share sentiments on how much they’ve missed each other. siwan also compliments the boys on their clearly developed physiques, saying “i think you guys have gotten bigger than me.” to which they deny, instead saying “i can’t imagine how you’ll look at the end of your training when you’re already so big.”
armys and the light stick + end of concert
during dear my friend ( a song that pains siwan because he has to see yoongi in pain ) and amygdala, he was using the flashlight on his phone as a makeshift army bomb in order to show his support since, well, he didn’t exactly think to bring a light stick.
the armys closest to him at the concert were all very sweet however, and noticed siwan’s predicament, offering him a light stick in their place. he had bowed continuously after being initially startled, saying thanks over and over again because he was so grateful to be able to cheer his lifelong partner in crime like this.
towards the end of the concert, siwan had asked who his army bomb belonged to, and ended up signing it as his way of saying thank you once again. he waved to everyone on his way out of the dome, blowing kisses, holding fans’ hands and bowing politely.
yoongi’s end of concert weverse live
after taking a photo with the rest of the hyung line before their departure, siwan had decided to tune in on yoongi’s live, commenting about how cute the older was over the whole tattoo situation saying “don’t play innocent with armys. we all know what you’re like~” etc. and complimenting his muscles.
yoongi called siwan ‘a pain in the ass’ basically lmao, but used politer language. he then mentioned how he was supposed to be catering to armys right now so siwan needed to stop being so distracting since he couldn’t help but check the comments siwan would send. he even tried to get the man to leave the live at one point lol.
yoongi informed armys that he would be going out with the members later by telling siwan “yah, i’ll see you and the others for a drink later, won’t i? so get out of here. give me some time alone with army.”
in the end, siwan didn’t actually end up leaving and instead stayed quiet throughout the rest of the live, meaning he heard yoongi making those last teasing remarks when the older had thought siwan left lol. the live wasn’t particularly long.
the boys all later went out together ( although they weren’t spotted by any armys ) and apparently siwan had cried a little bit again over knowing yoongi’s departure to the military is very soon. they spent hours together until the sun had started rising into the next day.

I Can’t Handle You Being Back~Chou Tzuyu x black! fem! reader {2}
Tumblr media
Parts: 1 2 3 4 5
Pairing: Tzuyu x reader
Summary: Your first night as a Twice member sought you connecting with the women you once knew as trainees. Well into the night, you bond a bit with your group members, even Tzuyu would it seems doesn’t want much to do with you anymore.
Genre: Angst, Idol-Verse, Romance, Slow Burn, Hurt and Comfort, Best Friends to Lovers
Warnings: none
Word Count: 2, 380
Writer’s Note: There’s interaction with Tzuyu in this chapter! If have any Twice, Blackpink, Red Velvet or Dreamcatcher requests just send me a message and I’ll try to get it done. Hope ya’ll enjoy!
Odd wasn’t the right word; it felt unknown falling back into a groove with them. The only member I kept in contact with was Nayeon and Sana, even then we didn’t talk much. It only went to check ins on how music was going, along with the occasional ‘miss you here in Korea’ or ‘working with this American artist right now.’
Being in the dorms feels weird. I’m supposed to be a member now,  I’m fortunate enough to have this opportunity again. (Even if this opportunity will potentially ruin my online presence; the Korean Netizens are still a handful.) That’s the least of my worries right now. Tzuyu’s blank stare continues to jumble up, down, left then right in my mind as I stare up the ceiling of me, Jeongyeon and Momo’s room. How the hell am I supposed to even fall into conversation with her? the rest of them? They were all my competition five years ago and I believed most of them to not like me. Of course it was the reason of being American, but also of being Black; a foreign trainee that quite literally stuck out from the others. From the welcome a few hours ago, they all seemed to remain fond of me (excluding Tzuyu, one that hurts the most).
“Y/N?”
I nearly fall from the bed at the presence of the few of my members: Jihyo and Jeongyeon stand in the doorway with huge hoodies and weary smiles aimed at me.
“Hey guys,” I say with a grin.
“Hey,” Jihyo says as she sits on the edge of the bed. “We just wanted to check up on you. You’ve been cooped up in here for hours.”
Jeongyeon crossed her arms as she leans against the wall.
“Are you OK?” she says. “We know that this is a huge shift for you.”
I nod and sit up to fully face them both.
“It’s more than I shift,” I explain. “I thought my K-Pop career was over with that Sixteen elimination and--” I pause to keep the image of Tzuyu and Momo’s tear stained faces from their own eliminations; they’re both moments from the program. Just being in their presence again, after so much success and growth they’ve had is nerve wracking.
Jihyo scoots closer and puts an arm around me. Jeongyeon steps over, kneels down in front of me and takes my hand.
“Tell us what’s on your mind,” Jeongyeon says.
“This a safe space,” Jihyo reassures. “We’re here to listen. All of us.”
I nod at her words, yet my mouth can’t help but spill words that should have been left unsaid.
“What about Tzuyu? She hardly looked at me.” I say.
Jihyo’s eyes softened; she squeezes me a bit tighter.
“She’ll come around, trust me,” Jihyo says.
Jeongyeon nodded sharply.
“Are you hungry? The managers dropped us off some burgers if you’d like to eat with everyone,” Jeongyeon suggests.
“Yeah,” Jihyo says. “We can catch up, it’s been so long.”
I agree with a hum, but I don’t attempt to get up when Jeongyeon and Jihyo do.
“C’mon Y/N, please?” Jeongyeon asks. “You have to eat and we’re teammates now, everyone needs to know how you’re getting through this.”
“You’re an idol now, Jihyo says. “And more importantly, a member of Twice. No matter how Tzuyu feels about the situation, you’re here and she has to accept that.”
I can’t help but giggle at Jihyo’s sense of authority; a perfect leader for Twice, it’s nice to hear that she sees me as a member, even though I’m still new to this.
“C’mon can we go?” Jeongyeon groans. “I’m starving.”
Jihyo rolls her eyes at Jeongyeon playfully before reaching for my hand.
“Are you ready, Y/N?”
My smile widens at Jihyo’s easygoing grin as she nudges me with her elbow and flutters her eyes. I take it; she erupts in a quick fit of giddiness and drags me out of my room, downstairs then into the living room where the other girls await.
“Y/N!” Sana squeals. She shot up towards me, embracing me just as tight as she did eariler.
“Uh, hi Sana!” I say while noticing the Mcdonalds cup in her hand.
Sana frowns as she sips.
“You all right?” she asks. “I forgot you’re American and kind of weird about skinship.”
“It’s ok, it’s just a little jarring,” I admit. “Being back here. You guys got Mcdonalds?”
Chaeyoung nods, hops off the couch from her seat between Dahyun and Tzuyu to shift in the giant bag of greasy (yet not as much grease as America) goodies.
“We haven’t really been studying a lot of American culture,” Chaeyoung explains. “But I do know that it’s complicated, especially with you being a Black American. So we opted with something simple, Mcdonalds!”
“We didn’t really know what you usually ate there, so the managers ordered everything for you!” Nayeon declares as she threw an arm around my shoulders.
My eyes scan through the various burgers/sandwiches, nugget boxes and an array of shakes; flavors range here in Korea, similar to how it is in other Mcdonalds across the globe. The gesture alone makes my chest warm, tears cling to the edge of my eyes but I stop them. They care; regardless what they thought about me five years ago, they still care about me.
“Thank you guys, it means a lot,” I say.
They all utter out a ‘you’re welcome’ in unison; Chaeyoung, Nayeon and Sana huddle toward me, pulling me in a mini group hug. Jihyo, Mina, Momo and Dahyun join soon after, squeezing me a little too tight.
“C’mon guys, let the woman eat,” Jeongyeon mutters through a few fries as she grabs a six piece nugget for herself.
As everyone plus away, I catch Tzuyu’s eyes from the couch. An instant but I got it: it wasn’t blank like before, rather wonder prior to her turning her attention back to the green tea shake she was consuming. I want to ask her a question, anything to hear her voice again but Jihyo’s words come back. She’ll accept it, no matter how she feels. I’m not sure how I completely feel about it though. Deep down I care about her feelings, hell she was the first person to build me up as an artist who could break international barriers. Even though they were teenagers then with over zealous dreams, it was nice to have some to dream big with (it meant more to bond with someone from another country and become so close).
“Y/N?” Jihyo’s question breaks me from my thoughts.
“Are you still jet lagged or something?” Mina teases as she nibbles on half of a cookie.
“Huh? No, this is still a lot,” I say. “What was the question?”
“I was just wondering if you wanted to binge a bunch of Disney movies with us?” Momo says.
I giggle at how enthusiastic Momo is.
“Would one of them happen to be Monsters Inc?” I ask.
Momo flushes, plays with her hands and glances down at the floor.
“Maybe,” she mumbles. “How’d you know?”
I’m the one that flusters this time: my chest grows hot as I scratch the back of my head.
“I’ve kept up with you guys,” I say. “You have so many plushies from fansigns and your dog’s named Boo, like the character.”
“You’ll meet him soon!” Nayeon coos. “He’s so adorable.”
“You could have reached out more,” Sana says. “We could have invited you on tour and caught up sooner.”
“Maybe I could have, but you know how weird Jinyoung can get,” I say. “I still can’t believe he granted me this opportunity. Ever since Sixteen I-”
With my pause this time, all nine of them granting me a look of concern; Jihyo grasps my hand again and gives me a tiny grin.
“Take your time,” she whispers. “We have enough time to catch up.”
The others nod and give their own sympathetic looks, except Tzuyu; she keeps her attention to the ground, face clouded what I cannot assume at all. (A face as blank as it was earlier.) I decide to finish though. It’s like Jihyo said, I’m a part of this team now.
“After Sixteen, I believed myself not to be talented enough,” I say. “It took me months to get out of my creative slump and write songs again. I guess my talent was there, or maybe I wasn’t at a decent level for JYP or Korea itself to accept a Black woman in K-Pop. I’m not even sure if they’re ready now.”
“They are OK,” Chaeyoung declares. “And if they aren’t, we’ll make them!”
I know Chaeyoung’s being supportive, yet I can’t help but giggle at how her cheeks puff out while she’s chewing on her chicken nugget. She’s so passionate that it’s cute.
“And if not, you aren’t alone Y/N,” Jihyo says as she softly nudges me.
“Enough about dwelling on the past,” Jeongyeon says. “Let’s start watching some films!”
“Which film should we start with, Y/N?” Momo asks.
“Hm? I thought you wanted to start with Monster Inc Momoring?” Mina says.
Momo shrugs with a growing smile and sunk down in the couch beside Tzuyu.
“Y/N should choose, it’s all about making her feel comfortable. Right?” she says.
I give her my best smile while I bite through the Big Mac, which I probably won’t be able to eat for awhile.
“How’s Lion King sound?”
Everyone utters in agreement: they all grab more food and sweets before hopping to the couch to bunch in while Jihyo grabs the TV’s remote. I glance between the end of the couch, where most of the maknae’s are. This excludes Tzuyu, who’s seated in the middle of the couch, dodging Nayeon’s spoon as she tries to feed the maknae some of her ice cream.
“Y/N! Sit over here!” Sana shouts, solving my dilemma for good as she and Jeongyeon slide away from each other to make room for me in between them.
“Gosh, unnie I said no!” Tzuyu growls.
I flinch along with Nayeon as Tzuyu rises and stomps up the stairs.
“Nayeon,” Jihyo warns. “Now I have to go talk to her. Go on and start the movie without me.”
She follows Tzuyu’s trail as Jeongyeon scolds Nayeon herself.
“Told you to quiet messing with her,” she says. “Not all of us can take your insistent flirting.”
Nayeon rolls her eyes.
“She kept eyeing Sana’s milkshake I thought she wanted some of mine,” she explains. “I know she couldn’t take her eyes off of Y/N’s buns either.”
Nayeon sends me a wink and I sink down deeper into the chair.
“Nayeon, please not now,” I groan.
Jihyo returns just as quickly, her face fixed tight in irritation.
“She’s not coming back to watch movies with us,” she says. “Let’s just carry on.”
*            *           *
We’re halfway through Monster University, and I keep nodding off every now and then. I get a bit disoriented when Sully popped up, then Nemo--who knows how many films I slept through.
“She’s so cute,” Sana coos. “She can rest her head on my shoulder if you want to switch unnie.”
Jeongyeon shakes her head as she pats my head and allows me to lay it back on her own shoulder.
“If you’re tired Y/N, you can go back to our room and sleep,” Jeongyeon whispers. “Momo and I won’t bother you, I promise.”
I sit up to stretch, noticing Tzuyu quickly grab something from the fridge and hurry back up the steps. Jihyo pinches the bridge of her nose, then sighs.
“Just let her be,” she says. “I can try talking to her later.”
I should listen to Jihyo, yet my body has a mind of it’s own. I’m on Tzuyu’s heels in an instant, grabbing her wrist in the next.  She freezes; I do the same.
“T-Tzuyu, please. Can we talk?” I ask.
Tzuyu turns to me. Her face isn’t blank, but carries a look of exhaustion.
“How have you been?” I say, trying to start somewhere.
“I’ve been better,” Tzuyu says as she continues up the steps and toward her bedroom. “You should sleep.”
“I-I’m not tired.”
Tzuyu gives me an incredulous look.
“Sana and Jeongyeon unnie are so loud,” she says. “You could barely get through a couple of films.”
I flush at her words, at least she’s being somewhat emotional with me.
“I know Nayeon can be a bit much, but you could have stayed and watched--”
“Nayeon unnie was only part of the reason I left,” she says. “I needed my space and I still do.”
“What’s the other reason?”
Tzuyu’s face softens at the question.
“Y/N--”
“Is it me?” I say. “I had no idea that I--”
Tzuyu cut me off before I could finish, her face taunt in rage similar to how she reacted with Nayeon earlier.
“Of course you have no idea!” she says. “You were one of the only friends I had back then, even when elimination was imminent, you promised me you would have stayed!”
Her words are like iron branding marks underneath my skin. She’s saying something now, but how can I make it right? What can I do to make sure that I don’t lie to her again.
“I know Tzuyu but--”
“That’s the thing Y/N, you don’t know,” Tzuyu says. “It took me so long to get over you leaving. And now, I can’t seem to handle you being here again.”
The iron presses deeper and deeper. My mouth closes. Maybe I should try again later, and honor her request. However, Jihyo’s words come fluttering back; we’re a team and if Tzuyu has a problem, we have to deal with it. Talk it out like partners should. I flush a bit at the word. Tzuyu and I dreamed of being more than partners, it’s now a distant memory due to how resentful she feels.
“Well, I’m not over you Tzuyu,” I say. “I’ll leave you alone for now, but just know that I never got over you. You still mean at lot to me.”
Tzuyu stands still for a moment, face still taunt in anger but it changes, and softens. I would have stayed to see it, but I honor her request and walk back to my room.

[📰] 20 Questions With P1Harmony: K-Pop Rookies on the High Energy of 'Disharmony: Break Out' Mini-Album
Tumblr media
By Heran Mamo
Plus: See a full, translated video interview with the sextet exclusively on Billboard.
P1Harmony explore a wide range of topics and genres on their high-intensity mini-album Disharmony: Break Out, which was released April 20 as the follow-up to their first EP, Disharmony: Stand Out.
Named one of the rookie K-pop groups to watch in 2021 by Time, members Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul and Jongseob had a unique experience stepping into the spotlight for the first time: The sextet debuted in the Korean film P1H: The Beginning of a New World on Oct. 8, 2020, before releasing their debut EP, Disharmony: Stand Out, on Oct. 28. Starring in a film prior to releasing their own music allowed P1Harmony to be more comfortable and confident enhancing their choreography (their Billie Eilish medley choreography has amassed more than 1 million YouTube views) and even coming up with their own music video concepts.
To commemorate the release of Disharmony: Break Out, the members of P1Harmony answered Billboard’s 20 questions about how Korea shaped who they are, how their evolving sound shines through on their latest mini-album, and the meanings they've taken away from this project as well as what they hope their fans will too.

10. How has the pandemic affected your creative process?
Keeho: My source of inspiration has become very limited, as I don’t get to go to new places or meet new people.
Theo: I think because I couldn’t really go out, I was able to focus more on my craft.
Jiung: I was able to really dig deep into my work, writing lyrics and composing.
Intak: I didn't have a lot of ideas, but I also thought writing about COVID-19 could be a source of new ideas.
Soul: It was hard because I couldn’t really go to places that would usually help me get inspiration.
Jongseob: It was a bit difficult because I lacked having new experiences and meeting new people. My source of inspiration was also very limited, because I would just go to the same places.
11. How did starring in the film P1H: The Beginning of a New World prepare you for your debut as a K-pop boy band?
Keeho: I think it was a good opportunity for me to learn how to be more comfortable in front of the cameras.
Theo: I was able to gain confidence and felt a sense of pride knowing that we were the first ones to debut in a unique way with a full-length movie.
Jiung: I think it was a unique way of introducing us to the world and gave us the opportunity to learn how to be more focused and theatrical onstage.
Soul: It was a great experience, because it allowed me to learn the basic manners of the industry and the importance of staff members.
Jongseob: I think it helped us build a strong storyline and composition for our music. It will be easier to understand our music and its message if you watch the movie.
12. What do you want fans to take away from your mini-album Disharmony: Break Out?
Keeho: I believe it would depend and vary on how you interpret it, but we hope our listeners really enjoy our music.
Theo: I hope our fans and listeners gain confidence through our music, which is one of our strongest messages.
Jiung: I would like for our fans P1ece to really understand, take and gain everything from what we are trying to deliver in our message.
Intak: I would like for our fans to find the courage to speak up and have their own voice.
Soul: I just want our fans to be happy when they're listening to our music!
Jongseob: I think it depends on who is listening, but I hope our fans can take away anything and everything they can in a positive way and earn confidence as well.
13. Which song from Disharmony: Break Out is the most meaningful to you and why?
Keeho: I think it’s "If You Call Me" because it's a song that all six of us worked on together
Theo: I would like to pick "Reset," because I did so well in the studio while recording this song, so it means a lot to me.
Jiung: I’d say "Pyramid" because the lyrics "I’m on the top of the pyramid" helps me feel like I’m really the best and makes me want to live by that mindset. It definitely has become one of my favorite tracks.
Intak: I would pick "If You Call Me" for the same reason Keeho picked it. It’s a meaningful song to me because we all worked on it together as a team.
Soul: I think every single track on the album has a special meaning for me and because it’s all our songs, it’s a super difficult question to answer.
Jongseob: I think for me, our title track "Scared" is the most meaningful. The message of the song, which is not to be afraid to voice your own opinions and to live the life you want to live, is what I strongly believe in and that’s the kind of attitude I want to have.
14. Your debut EP Disharmony: Stand Out is much more hip-hop leaning, while your second features more R&B harmonies and EDM production while still refining the rap verses. What made you want to switch up your sound in only a manner of six months?
Keeho: I think we wanted to really make sure our message is being delivered clearly and strongly, so I think that’s why we picked tracks that were as strong with aggressive sounds.
Jiung: I don’t think we had a special moment or particular reason as to why we decided to do what. We just wanted to portray our feelings and thoughts that we felt at that moment while making music, and the time that we spent in between our albums, is what probably contributed to the change of sound as well.
Intak: As Keeho mentioned, I think we wanted to stand out a bit more with more clarity and distinct characteristics, which is what drove the aggressiveness and the slight change of sounds for this album.
15. Since you help choreograph and conceptualize your videos, what do you hope to convey in the accompanying visuals for Disharmony: Break Out?
Keeho: As you can see in our choreography for "Scared," we incorporated football into our routine. Football is a sport that is very aggressive and requires a lot of energy so we thought it was a good fit with our song. With these specific key points, we tried to really emphasize our message as well as our energy.
Jiung: I think our choreography, stage outfits, and concept all adds up and helps level up the intensity of the song as well as the message that we want to deliver. Our music video and choreography really turned out well, so I hope our fans appreciate and enjoy it!
16. Which artist is on your bucket list to collaborate with?
Keeho: Ariana Grande
Theo: BIGBANG, Taeyang, G.Soul, Dean
Jiung: Ty Dolla $ign
Intak: Justin Timberlake, A$AP Rocky
Soul: Les Twins
Jongseob: Penomeco, Smino
17. What’s one thing that even your most devoted fans don’t know about you?
Keeho: I really don’t like long nails. I just can’t stand it, so I tend to always keep my nails short.
Theo: I don’t really sweat. I don’t think I sweat at all.
Jiung: I have a habit of chewing the inside of my mouth, unintentionally.
Intak: My lips are naturally moisturized so I don’t need to use a lip balm to make them glossy!
Soul: I have dermographism, so even the slightest irritation like a scratch will leave a mark/scar for a while.
Jongseob: I have a slim waist and biggest feet of all members.
18. What movie, or song, always makes you cry?
Keeho: I don’t really cry, so I don’t think there’s a movie that ever made me cry.
Theo: The Korean movie Miracle in Cell No. 7 makes me cry every single time I watch it.
Jiung: Korean traditional children’s song "Daddy Cheer Up" makes me tear up.
Intak: I have a couple, but if I had to just pick one, it’d be the movie Forrest Gump.
Soul: I don’t cry like Keeho so I have never cried watching something and I just don’t like to watch sad movies.
Jongseob: "Falling Slowly"
19. What’s one piece of advice you would give to your pre-debut self?
Keeho: Don’t worry too much and work harder.
Theo: Think 100 times before acting on it.
Jiung: Are you truly sincere?
Intak: Enjoy life a bit more.
Soul: Be more emotionally stable.
Jongseob: It's never too late.
20. What does a successful 2021 look like for you?
Keeho: I hope to release as much music as we can!
Theo: I wish we can make at least 3 comebacks.
Jiung: I hope to gain more emotional peace and stability.
Intak: "Rookie of the Year" award!
Soul: There’s a necklace I really want to buy and I hope to buy it by the end of this year!

[ARTICLE] Monsta X Pushes Against Boundaries in ALL ABOUT LUV, K-Pop's First All-English Album in a Decade
The members of K-pop group Monsta X entered the interview room as though it were the set of a music video: fully hair-and-makeup-ready, some wearing clothes identical to the attire they wore in the video for one of their latest releases, “Middle of the Night.” Kihyun donned a checkered coat with bright yellow stripes and a green collar, Minhyuk a light brown coat with a dark tiger print. The group had just completed a Q&A on Facebook Live, after more than a week of non-stop interviews and meet-and-greets on both coasts of the U.S. The frenetic pace was par for the course for a K-pop act promoting a new album, though in this case, the group from South Korea had just released something a bit different: its first all-English album, ALL ABOUT LUV.
See full article here or read below.
ALL ABOUT LUV is the first all-English album released by a K-pop group in more than a decade — the last one was from trio JYJ in 2010. The new album quickly accomplished an impressive feat, ranking fifth on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making Monsta X only the third K-pop group, after BTS and SuperM, to break the top 10. Members Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, I.M and Wonho — who left the group near the end of last year — participated in the recording of the album, whose 11 tracks are uncharacteristically sensual and seductive for a K-pop act. A few days after the release, five of the six members of Monsta X sat down with TIME to discuss, at times via a translator, ALL ABOUT LUV, and the experience of both singing in English and speaking more frankly about what happens in the bedroom. (Rapper Joohoney is on a break, taking time to focus on his mental health due to anxiety, but will return for the group’s North American tour beginning in June.)
In the nearly five years since the group was formed in the reality competition show No.Mercy in 2015, Monsta X has carved a space in K-pop with EDM- and hip hop-heavy tracks paired with aggressive choreography. In 2019, the act began to shift gears in its sound. While continuing to release Korean albums with the same explosive energy, Monsta X dropped a number of tracks recorded in English, with a sleeker, smoother vibe. The rollout of these English-language songs led up to the release of ALL ABOUT LUV, which dropped on Valentine’s Day to the warm embrace of “Monbebes” — the name for the group’s fans, derived from the French term for “my baby.”
A new language introduces a new mode of expression
The group began working on ALL ABOUT LUV back in 2018, when they recorded “Besides U” featuring Pitbull, though “Who Do U Love?,” a collaboration with French Montana, would be the album’s first single. “At that time it was really difficult to record,” Kihyun, the main vocalist whose honeyed falsetto is a standout in the new album, tells TIME of working in English. “But it’s really comfortable now, every song.” A combination of speaking more English during stateside events, covering American pop songs — such as Bruno Mars’ “Versace on the Floor,” performed on a Korean television show in 2018 — and receiving help from youngest member I.M, who has lived in Boston and is fluent, has gradually increased the artists’ comfort working in the language.
Releasing an English album doesn’t just mean the words sound different. Vocalist Minhyuk describes a more technical difference in singing the two languages, which can lead to increased expressiveness. “When you speak Korean, there are lots of words that if you pronounce that word, your mouth is closed and it’s not really that smooth — it can sound a bit intense,” he says. “But when you are speaking English words, it goes with the flow. Word and word connects.” Minhyuk says the more flexible pronunciation helps him “give more emotions” to the English words. This can be heard, for instance, as he tenderly delivers the line, “I only feel alive when I don’t feel safe” from the new track “Misbehave.”
A laid-back, gentler approach to choreography
The emotions expressed in the new album, and the dances that accompany the songs, also mark a change from those of Monsta X’s past tracks. The group’s Korean music is known for its intensity — the latest title tracks “Follow” and “Alligator” are EDM-infused anthems whose choreography features fast-paced stomps, kicks and punches. In contrast, the numbers on ALL ABOUT LUV, as the album’s name suggests, share a laid-back mood expressed by soft and fluid dance moves. The performance for the new song “Middle of the Night” is filled with hip swaying, finger snapping and caressing of the microphone stand.
“In ALL ABOUT LUV, the whole album vibe is very moody and chill,” says leader Shownu, who is also the main dancer and has participated heavily in the group’s choreography. “We just wanted to match the dance moves with the songs.” The members contributed to shaping the routines of the new tracks. Shownu points to “Middle of the Night”: at the line, “we’re kissing in the car underneath of the night,” the idols tilt their microphone stands sideways and lean down as if to kiss them.
“Our Korean album performance and our ‘Middle of the Night’ performance are different types of sexy,” Minhyuk explains. “Korean album is…” he pauses as rapper I.M jumps in — “strong sexy.” “Yeah, strong and powerful,” Minhyuk agrees. Meanwhile, “Middle of the Night” has a “gentle” type of sexiness, Kihyun says.
‘Honest things happen on the bed’
But the sex appeal doesn’t only stem from the choreography. Throughout the album, lyrics making sexual references carry Monsta X into a beyond-PG-13, but not-quite-R-rated realm to which few K-pop acts have ventured.
In the track “Misbehave,” the chorus goes, “Love it when we mess this up, every time we argue, straight into the bedroom.” When asked about these lyrics, I.M says, “When you are loving somebody you need to be honest, and honest things happen on the bed.”
“What?!” Kihyun exclaims. “B-E-D? B-E-D?” Minhyuk asks, spelling out the word. “It’s about your imagination,” I.M responds, offering a laundry list of chaste activities. “We can just sleep, or just yawn…”
“Watch Netflix on bed,” vocalist Hyungwon, who has been mostly quiet up until now, chimes in. “Yeah, everyone has their own time on their bed,” I.M says. Kihyun fans himself. “Whew, I’m sweating!”
“Using the straightforward words, I thought it was very erotic,” Shownu says, using the Korean word yahada, which is also sometimes translated as “sexual.” “I felt shy,” Minhyuk shares about his recording experience.
Minhyuk reflected on the lyrics of “Love U,” a cheery electro-pop track suggestive of something more physical. The members sing, “I really, really wanna love you / But I can’t say the word I want to / ‘Cause they won’t play it on the radio / But I know you know / What I mean, what I mean.” It’s not hard to guess the word the lyrics suggest.
“When we were recording ‘Love U,’ I thought it was just a song about love,” Minhyuk explains. “But it went in a different direction.”
To be clear, the lyrics in All ABOUT LUV never explicitly mention sex. But compared to previous tracks in Monsta X’s discography — and, on a broader scale, most love songs across K-pop — the words are significantly more sexual. “It’s fine, we’re all adults.” Kihyun says, “and this is an American album.” If it were a Korean album, there would “maybe” be fewer of these references, he says. “The Korean society is more strict to lyrics.”
Pioneering a new sound
While the majority of K-pop tracks have a balanced distribution between singing and rapping — as most idol groups are formed with a mix of singers and rappers — ALL ABOUT LUV has significantly fewer rap verses. I.M and the group’s main rapper Joohoney, who boast some of the most dynamic rap delivery in the industry, tabled that specialty to record vocal-heavy sections. “I think I forgot how to rap by now,” I.M jokes.
“It was so funny,” Kihyun shares about Joohoney’s time in the studio. “Joohoney yelled at me, ‘Hyung, help me! I can’t do this,’” Kihyun says, referencing the Korean term for “older brother.” “The notes were so high to Joohoney, but he did it.” Indeed, Joohoney and I.M displayed their versatility across the album’s melodies, from the ad-libs in “Who Do U Love?” to the sultry introduction in “Middle of the Night.” In blurring the rap-vocal divide, the group is pioneering a new sound for Korean groups releasing music in the U.S.
“The Korean fans liked it because they saw a feeling they had never seen,” Hyungwon says. “The American fans liked it because it was fully in English.” Music from the album is already making its way into spaces where K-pop is rarely heard. On a recent episode of Riverdale, “Who Do U Love?” plays in the background. Elsewhere, fans have recorded hearing ALL ABOUT LUV tracks in stores from an H&M in Turkey to a Hollister in the U.K. When the group announced its North American tour taking place this summer, it became clear that Monsta X is returning to cities in venues much larger than the ones they performed in just a year ago, a testament to their rapid growth.
A few days before the Billboard 200 list was announced, TIME asked Monsta X how they will measure the success of ALL ABOUT LUV. Leader Shownu says he does not want to “get stuck inside of ‘success,’” and his teammate Kihyun offers a simple but emphatic response: “If we and our fans are satisfied with this album, that is good.”

JULY 2020 BC ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW
Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of August 7 KST:
A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly limit).
A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on the monthly schedule.
Threads and solos do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.
Reminder: June schedule posts are due by the end of July 7 KST. Please do not post schedule posts in the fmdschedule tag.
Overall Company
All BC idols are scheduled for a meeting with upper management the day before the news of the upcoming base Culture Complex is leaked to the media. They’re given a more detailed rundown of plans for the facility than the public is, although not all the details are made clear. In the meeting, everyone is informed BC has partnered once again with Dimensions and Gold Star to fund the construction of a new building in Gangnam meant to become the ideal location in the world for fans of idols. The building will include a museum with exhibits dedicated to the history and music of each group and soloist, a handful of theatre venues for intimate concerts and company-sponsored musical productions, a merchandise mall, a cafe, and many other fan experiences. (admin note: For reference, imagine something similar to SM COEX Artium —with over three times the budget.) The idols won’t spend much time there even once it’s finished being built, but content starring them is critical to the financial success of the venture, so the next several months leading up to its opening will have all three companies’ idols working hard to make its opening a success. This month, that mostly involves producing photo shoots: all idols will attend a photo shoot session this month where three categories of photo will be tacked: profile pictures for the artist wall (grayscale, professional and serious tone), images for life-sized cutouts of each idol (wardrobe will consist of jeans and a single-color top for each idol, fun and bright tone with fanservicable poses such as here and here encouraged) and 3D imaging for 3D-printed figures of each idol.
Important dates:
July 5: base Culture Complex briefing meeting.
July 12-July 31: Photo shoots for base Culture Complex, as individual muse schedule allows, at unspecified photo studio in Gangnam (admin note: muses may encounter idols from other companies while there).
BC Soloist 1
Since everything is filmed and shot for her comeback, most of July is about practicing and perfecting her performance, which has been the biggest praise point since her debut. Upon its release, “Love U” isn’t as big of a smash hit as “Roller Coaster” was, but, as a summer release, the improvement from “Why Don’t You Know”’s already impressive performance is clear. While her true staying power has yet to proven seeing as she’s still a rookie soloist, her future looks promising in a way upper management is clearly pleased with for their first soloist in a decade.
Important dates:
July 29: Release of “Love U” & Blooming Blue mini-album, music show promotions continue through August 29.
July 30: Guesting on SBS Power FM Cultwo Show radio show.
July 31: First debut anniversary.
July 31: Guesting on Arirang Radio Super K-Pop radio show.
Decipher
To promote their comeback, Decipher have a magazine shoot to do for Marie Claire Korea on the first of the month. It’s an inside spread in the issue that will be cover by their juniors WISH. While their maknae heads back overseas to tour with CHAMPION, the rest of the group will keep practicing to make their comeback on the 13th. Promotions are kept to a minimum, without any fansigns to boost album sales, and, unfortunately, the more mellow vibe of the song doesn’t click with the public for the summer as well as BC would have hoped, leaving them with an abysmal chart performance, though the comeback still brings in a profit thanks to their dedicated fans.
Important dates:
July 1: Photo shoot for Marie Claire Korea’s August issue.
July 13: Release of “Love Paint” & Canvas mini-album, music show promotions continue through August 13.
July 15: Guesting on MBC FM Starry Night radio show.
July 26: Release of Mr. Sunshine OST “And I”.
          ↳ Decipher R & V
No schedules for the month.
Important dates:
N/A.
          ↳ CHAMPION
CHAMPION has already broken records, soaring to the top of the Billboard Hot 200 album chart last month, a feat only Origin has previously achieved. The achievement has BC and Dimensions quite proud and the lack of significant performance on the Korean charts isn’t considered a big deal to them due to the overseas success. This month, they begin their tour in Texas (flying out from Seoul late on July 5) and hold five US dates total before they fly out back to Seoul in the early morning hours of July 12. As previously mentioned, the two involves all of the songs on their mini-album, two unreleased songs (”Dangerous Woman” and “With You”), and solo stages by those who have made solo debuts before the tour.
Important dates:
July 6: CHAMPION: We Are The Future Live concert at Dickies Arena in Forth Worth, TX, USA.
July 8: CHAMPION: We Are The Future Live concert at United Center in Chicago, IL, USA.
July 9: CHAMPION: We Are The Future Live concert at Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, GA, USA.
July 10: CHAMPION: We Are The Future Live concert at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA, USA.
July 11: CHAMPION: We Are The Future Live concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY, USA.
BEE
The members will fly out from Seoul to the US on July 2 to shoot their photo book for their album. They’ll return to Seoul on July 5 and two days later will have another photo shoot, this time for Elle Korea’s August issue. The members will take on a retro photo shoot concept for the shoot. Shortly after, they’ll shoot the music video for “Darling”, and then the rest of the month is focused on preparing for their Seoul concerts. Each member will continue to rehearse their self-chosen solo cover stages for the concert (admin reminder: please avoid choosing songs that could be claimed as points claimed songs and have not been released in-’verse). At the end of the month, they’ll perform “I Like That”, “I Swear”, “Touch My Body”, and “Loving U” at a resort festival.
Important dates:
July 3: Album photobook shoot in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
July 7: Photo shoot for Elle Korea’s August issue.
July 10: “Darling” MV & making videos [2] filming.
July 24: Live Concert: B concert at Olympic Hall in Seoul.
July 25: Live Concert: B concert at Olympic Hall in Seoul.
July 29: Performance at Blue One Resort K-Pop Festival in Gyeongju (also performing: Knight, Lipstick and Gal.actic).
          ↳ 2BEE
Though their promotions have ended and they don’t have any major schedules in the future to work toward at this time, they will be giving a sub-unit performance of “Ma Boy” in addition to BEE’s group performance at a festival at the end of the month.
Important dates:
July 29: Performance at Blue One Resort K-Pop Festival in Gyeongju (also performing: Knight, Lipstick and Gal.actic).
Knight
After a photo shoot for Dazed early in the month and following the two CHAMPION subunit members' returns from the US, Knight is slated to begin comeback preparations for an album release in October. After playing it safer the last few comebacks, Knight is returning to something a little more experimental again. The full album should be recorded before they perform at a resort festival at the end of the month. Their set will consist of “Love Shot”, “Enough”, and their older summer hit “Kokobop”.
Important dates:
July 2: Photo shoot for Dazed Korea’s August issue.
July 29: Performance at Blue One Resort K-Pop Festival in Gyeongju (also performing: BEE, Lipstick and Gal.actic).
          ↳ White Knight
No schedules for the month.

         ↳ Knight Light
They’ll film their last music video rather early in the month, after which point, they only need to rehearse throughout the month to be ready for their showcase and music show stages next month. Since the two Knight members don’t have much in the way of choreographed dancing, most of the rehearsal focus is on working well off of each other and getting all three title tracks into their muscle memory.
Important dates:
July 9: “Closer To You” MV filming.
Lipstick
Lipstick finishes their promotions for “Wild” in the first half of the month. While it doesn’t earn them any music show wins, the song has been fairly well-received in comparison to their last release. They’ll make a short appearance on MBC Starry Night radio show before kicking into the last week of promotions, but as an eight year senior group, music shows to connect with fans are the main focus. Near the end of the month, they’ll perform “Wild”, “Glue”, and “Lil’ Touch” at a resort festival, but work on Queendom is also in full force. They’ll be filming the first two episodes of Queendom on July 16 and July 30 (the latter date also happens to be their debut anniversary), and they’ve been asked to prepare a performance of their representative hit song, “Genie”. Full details of Queendom filming for this month can be found here.
Important dates:
July 10: Guesting on MBC FM Starry Night radio show.
July 16: Queendom episode one filming (introductions).

CHARM
CHARM continues to tour this month, with three Asian dates this time. It’s a rather relaxed month since they only have three tour dates, so the members will have some down time in between concerts, though there are general rehearsals and schedules to be attended to that will prevent them from taking any kind of true vacation abroad. If they’d like and they have family in South Korea, the company will permit them to have enough of a break to take a day trip or two to visit family, but longer trips or trips for other reasons will not be approved by the company this month to keep the members out of trouble and focused on staying focused on their tour.
Important dates:
July 4: Ode To You tour concert at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines.
July 11: Ode To You tour concert at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
July 18: Ode To You tour concert at NTSU Arena in Taipei, Taiwan.

WISH
Following a photo shoot for the cover of Marie Claire Korea’s August issue, the members of WISH are back off to Japan shortly after for a series of three concerts, the first since the release of their latest Japanese album. They won’t stay long for any additional promotions and will only be in Aichi from July 9 to July 13. Once they get back, they’ll get some down time, though there are general rehearsals and schedules to be attended to that will prevent them from taking any kind of true vacation abroad. If they’d like and they have family in South Korea, the company will permit them to have enough of a break to take a day trip or two to visit family, but longer trips or trips for other reasons will not be approved by the company this month to keep the members out of trouble and focused on staying focused on their tour.

a/n: oh baby, this is for the love of my life, min (@jooniescupcakes). thank you for being my friend and happy birthday!!!! i love you so much :((( and would’ve stopped writing if it weren’t for you, my first friend on here that’s stuck w me during my weird 2am talks. you’re so sweet n cute n adorable and i only wish the best for you. i hope you enjoy this! just something i thought would be cute for update!jimin, especially since around the time you wanted a drabble with him. and i’m also freaking out because i don’t know whether i scheduled to post this when it’s july 22nd for you, or if it’s still the 21st, like i’m having such a trouble, so i’m sorry if i get it wrong :(((
Jimin absolutely hated it here.
The constant chattering filling the small room, feet that hit hard on the poor wooden floor, the constant buzz of energy that sounded like a white noise throughout the room, and the sweat that clung to the walls and skin of everyone.
He didn’t want to be here, as he always hates being at the dance studio, but today—especially—he did not want anything to do with this place.
Jimin looked around the room, beads of sweat forming at his forehead and then his legs aching, throbbing uncomfortably that he was always shifting his leg to get rid of the odd tremor in it.
Everyone was white and black to him, their faces blended into the same, their words and voices sounded like plain mockery when they spoke to him, their eyes downcast as if they bored with life, and he knew for a fact they were. They lived their lives in ignorance, he thought in spite, looking back at his phone, showing an event on the calendar with an event in capitalized words.
Just looking at it made his heart thump in an immense amount of infatuation, butterflies fluttering at the pit of his stomach, his body screaming with energy burning at his breaths, slow to comprehend a sudden rush of excitement that came and went.
Didn’t they know what today was? How important today was? Who in their right mind thought that having a lesson today would be fine?
They were obviously fucking stupid.
Usually, he’d be at home, retweeting, replying, and liking everything of yours, over and over. A cake, your favorite type, and flavor, sitting nicely in his fridge with newly bought wine sitting atop his counter with a nice ribbon he bought—in your favorite color—tied around it.
Instead, he was sitting in his dance studio, covered in, his words: grease. With people he didn’t like, neither did he have newly bought wine or a pretty cake sitting in his fridge, he doesn’t have anything.
Jimin already feels useless as it is, but now that he’s consistently messing up on the dances—he’s close to ditching or making up some half-assed excuse to get out of here.
He clicked his tongue, brushing his hair out of his face, and clicked on Twitter, hoping to lessen his sour mood.
Looking through to see all of your fan accounts, most in English, some in Japanese or Korean (that’s as far as he could understand). He can somewhat notice they were all making a mess of themselves over you, noting certain words like “I love you” in English. He couldn’t blame them though.
It was your birthday after all.
His holiday.
The one day he feels complete as if he’s celebrating something with you, being with you, knowing you’re going to be having an Instagram live, responding to birthday wishes—you’re going to be there—for him.
At one point, he thinks it’s unfair how everyone gets to celebrate it too. He wants to feel special when he congratulates you personally through a private message, email, even fan mail that he’s made sure to send in accordance to your time zone.
Although, you never reply, never text of it, or utter a word about it. He knows you must’ve read it. You had to.
You loved your fans. You love him.
He scrolls further and further through his feed, through tags that were related to you or your birthday, constantly switching through different social media’s just to look at photos you’ve posted hours ago, only to look at your face—your perfect smile that radiated everything. Everything he wants to have at this moment.
It’s a constant reminder, seeing your captions in English, never in his language, or you, rarely being able to tour, and when you do, it’s never Korea.
He detests it.
Couldn’t you learn Korean for him? It’s hard, he could understand that at least, but with his help, you could easily learn it. That way you could always understand his posts, his love and adoration for you, you could be with him and only him.
Life would be so much easier if you were with him.
A shy smile reaches his lips, only imagining what you would look like if he ever had to chance to meet you. He’d imagined you’d be shocked, that’s a given, but you would be happy.
The things he would do for you on your birthday. An unhealthy amount of dates to the park, the restaurants, the beach. Lavishing you with gifts he could only imagine were the best of the best, diamonds, gold—anything you looked at with interest, it’s there—and his hand, intertwined with yours, tight enough to leave marks.
The dance instructor walks to the front of the room, already ruining his mood. Jimin dreads their heavy steps and their obnoxious clapping to collect the students, to prepare them for another onslaught of useless dancing. The songs weren’t nearly as good and fun as yours, maybe he’ll have a talk with the instructor to change it.
“Five-minute warmup,” they state blandly, then going on to busy themselves with something or someone else, Jimin didn’t care.
Of course, he still listens.
He, slowly, goes to shut his phone off and toss it into his bag sitting in the corner of the room, obviously situated from the rest of the class’ bags. Until his phone vibrates and rings, a notification from Twitter once again. Your username popping up on the notification screen (he practically has all of your usernames ingrained into his brain, from every each app you use)
It’s a post. A thank you message.
It’s for him.
Jimin flushes with heat, his breathing becoming irregular the moment he opens it up, reading it over and over, and over. Eating up every word and letter you used, every smiley face, every emoji, everything. He doesn’t care at this point if his ears and face are red, sweat collecting at his neck—he doesn’t care at all.
He curls into himself in his awkward sitting position, his heart hurts and hurts. Muscles that were limp before, slack against the floor, were now building up with newfound energy.
Quickly, typing out a response to the thank you letter, knowing he will come back to it later and reply with something better than what everyone else is replying with under your post.
A simple “I love you” will suffice, for now, ending with a short and sweet, “Happy birthday :)”

191009 New K-pop Band SuperM: ‘We Don’t Want to Step on Other Groups to Get to the Top’
With K-pop firmly entrenched in the mainstream, SuperM say it’s time to start raising the bar
Tumblr media
The well-coiffed guys from the new K-pop supergroup, SuperM, are sitting around a conference room at the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, and feeling like they may have left something on the table.
Two days earlier, the seven-piece unit — put together using members from four established K-pop boy bands — had shut down an intersection in the heart of Hollywood and made their live debut before more than 5,000 frenzied fans, some of whom had lined up for days just to get a prime spot to see the guys perform.
For SuperM, the outdoor show — which was also streamed live worldwide on YouTube — served as their official group debut as well, with the boy band finally being introduced to the world after months of secrecy.
“Going in front of our fans and performing as SuperM was nerve-wracking, and it’s not something we usually feel because we’ve all been in this industry for a while now,” says Kai, the pretty, pouty-mouthed singer who was chosen to join SuperM from the band EXO. “There were some members that felt like maybe we could’ve done better with this or stronger with that, but it’s okay,” he says, smiling. “More than anything, I was just proud that we could finally show everyone what we’ve been preparing for.”
SuperM is the latest creation of Korean management company, SM Entertainment (the band’s name is not exactly subtle). Founded in 1995 by Lee Soo-man, a man so famous in Korea he’s just known as “Mr. Lee,” SM is regarded as one of the pioneers of the global K-pop movement, having first brought Korean artists to North America in the early 2000s at the height of the teen pop craze.
SuperM is the company’s latest attempt to make a dent in the U.S. market. After years of breaking all sorts of records in Asia but remaining relatively unknown in the States, the crossover success of bands like BTS and Blackpink have given entertainment companies like SM a renewed interest in reaching the international market, with the U.S. as a pivotal launching pad.
Tumblr media
For SuperM, it wasn’t about starting from scratch, but rather starting from the top. SuperM culled its members from some of SM’s most popular groups, who collectively have sold more than 14 million adjusted albums combined, and amassed nearly four billion views of their music videos online. SuperM’s fans lovingly refer to them as “the Avengers of K-pop,” stemming from the belief that the group features the most talented and popular members from each of the individual bands.
Baekhyun and Kai are from EXO, a stylish and well-packaged boy band that, as of 2018, had actually sold more records than BTS in Korea (the release of BTS’ Map of the Soul: Persona this past April have tipped the scales back in the latter group’s favor). At 27, Baekhyun is the oldest member of SuperM, and has unofficially acquired the title of group leader.
Taemin, the second oldest member at 26, is from SHINee, considered one of the veterans of K-pop, after having debuted in 2008. The group made news in 2017 after founding member, Jonghyun, died from an apparent suicide, which sparked a debate over working conditions and unreasonably high expectations for these young performers, many of whom are pulled from school to begin “training” for their debut.
The last four members of SuperM were culled from subunits of the massive 21-person K-pop group, NCT (Mr. Lee calls them the first “unlimited” boy band, with a constantly rotating roster of new members). Taeyong and Mark are from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas are from NCT’s Chinese subset, WayV.
The idea for an all-star group was first discussed last year, though the seven members didn’t actually come together to record until earlier this spring. While the guys had met before — SM organizes an annual “SM Town” concert tour, similar to say, when Diddy took his Bad Boy artists on the road — they had never actually worked together until SuperM was formed.
The group’s debut EP, The 1st Mini Album, hit stores last week. The five-song set opens with lead single, “Jopping,” a turbo-charged track whose name comes from a combination of the words, “jumping” and “popping” (a publicist sighed that the name was both crazy yet catchy at the same time). The song mixes hip-hop with EDM, with the members trading verses in both English and Korean. The video for “Jopping,” meantime, was filmed in Dubai over the summer and has already amassed more than 22 million views online. Fueled by massive buzz for the song and album, SuperM announced this week that they will be hitting the road for a North American tour, kicking off November 11th in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tumblr media
While BTS have blasted into the mainstream, with number one albums, appearances on all the late-night talk shows and even Grammy buzz, the guys in SuperM are motivated to find success on their own terms.
“Yes, the competition exists and we can’t ignore that,” says Taemin, “but we don’t want to step on other groups to get to the top. We want to stand alone as a group and bring something fresh and new to this K-pop scene.”
To that end, the group has been working on carving out a more signature sound for their debut LP, which will still sit comfortably in the hip-hop/pop/R&B arena, but also see them weaving in and out of different genres within a single song. While other groups — such as Blackpink and BTS — primarily perform in Korean, SuperM could also be releasing more English language tracks. (Though Mark was born in Canada and speaks fluent English, the band’s publicist confirms the rest of the group’s members have been taking English lessons.)
They’ve been doing their homework too, listening to the radio while they’re in Los Angeles and streaming an eclectic mix of artists like H.E.R., Ella Mai, Daniel Caesar and Billie Eilish (“Let’s get that collabo!” Taemin hollers).
And while Korean management companies are notorious for controlling their groups’ images and keeping their artists on a short leash (I once arrived to meet EXO in Seoul and was told I couldn’t interview the guys in person because they didn’t have their makeup on), from this perspective, SuperM feels a lot… looser.
On this recent swing through L.A., the young men reveal that their first stop after landing at LAX wasn’t straight to their hotel, but rather to In-N-Out. Though they’ve booked dinners in Malibu, the members also rave about the traditional Korean tofu stew at BCD Tofu House, a 24-hour Southern California chain of cheap eats (“It’s honestly better than Korea,” Taeyong says). During the interview, the guys are decked out in leather jackets and oversized sweats, sipping on iced coffees from Starbucks, and fidgeting with their phones like any other twenty-something, as they dish about trying to take a group vacation after their tour is over. They travel with a translator, but all of them try valiantly to respond to questions in English before they crumble in laughter when they lose their words. If their original groups gave them a crash course in making it in the music business, it seems SuperM will give these guys a chance to be themselves — and in doing so, a chance to grow.
“If I said I didn’t feel any pressure that would be a lie,” says Kai. “We all come from successful, established careers, but in a way, we are still unknowns, at least when it comes to this formation. But with that pressure comes this new level of excitement,” he continues, “because there’s so much more we can try and do, and the possibilities are endless.”
“There are a lot of groups out there and a lot of competition,” Taeyong admits, “but our goal is to make K-pop shine even brighter. The spirit of competition is not necessarily bad, because it pushes us to want to put out better things.”
Kai is more specific: “SuperM is here to level up the K-pop genre,” he asserts. “We are ready for K-pop to start raising the bar.”

[TRANSLATION] VOGUE KOREA Magazine April 2019 issue x JUS2
190319 Vogue Korea JUS2 April ‘19 photoshoot & interview
Translated by defdaily & doobseedoda
JUS2 is a unit of two members who were in charge of intensity in GOT7. This is a chemistry created when JB and Yugyeom, who love R&B in common, were absorbed in creative activities. Their hybridization was completed in a "minimal" state, which is neither strong nor soft. The mini album contains a story called six senses. Starting with the word Focus on Me, Drunk on You, Touch, Senses, Love Talk, and Long Black. It doesn't mean much nowadays to classify music into genres, but there are emotions of Deep House, Slow Jam and R&B in JUS2's music.
Tumblr media
The unit's name was bound to be JUS2. It's only JB and Yugyeom, and it's a stage that can only be presented. "Actually, JUS2 means that it's both a performance and a song. We danced, sang, wrote and composed, and did everything." JUS2 is an example of a completely new creation without losing the members' identity in the group and reveal their talents and tastes.
Q. We are curious about the similarities and differences between you two.
JB: Our personalities are similar but our lifestyles are different. I really don't believe in blood type personalities but we're both type A and there is definitely a timid side to us. When you see us in reality we don't seem that timid. To sum it up, we're both timid and not timid at the same time (laugh). Both of us are considerate so we match well in some aspects. Yugyeom is all about 'let's live life having fun'.
Yugyeom: I don't put too much meaning behind the word 'happiness' and I'm a person who often feels happiness (doing little things).
JB: I like enjoying everyday life but I have a compulsion to not let my thoughts and mind slip alway so I tend to think a lot. There is music that we both like and there's also a point where (our styles) meet. I like strong/fast paced music and I also like calm smooth music, I like all kinds of music. Yugyeom likes the strong turn up kind of music and tends to lean towards the strong music.
Q. If GOT7's energy is bright and fresh, what would JUS2’s energy be?
Yugyeom: Jus2 would be having control and restraining yourself. If GOT7's energy is 'attacking' then JUS2’s energy is more like 'holding yourself back'.
JB: If GOT7 were the shooting star ice cream then JUS2 would be the Vanilla ice cream. Soft and smooth. Personally I like JJ Project's album the most. The story and track order contained all of what I wanted to say/include so it's the album I'm most proud of. After that is JUS2’s album which I'm highly satisfied with. Although there is no overall storyline, the theme of sensation was unraveled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q. You wrote and composed 'Focus On Me', if you could tell us about the collaboration process.
Yugyeom: We listen to the track and figure out whether to decide the theme first or make the melody first. The theme of FOCUS came up while writing the melody for Focus On Me and that's how it was settled. If anyone can think of a melody while listening to MR, they record it. "This part seems okay" then JB hyung sings it and I try singing it then we keep matching parts.
JB: At the start when I was working on the song and writing the chorus 'focus on me' stuck to me as matching. Since everyone else liked it we decided on it as the theme and wrote the lyrics. The first and second verse were written separately then the lyrics were put together.
Q. In what moments does inspiration tend to come to you?
JB: When I sense if a song's mood is a certain way, I think about what happened in the past or whať's happening now or what I've seen in movies and books. If I get inspiration first then I write it down in my notebook or phone. There are times when I turn songs on and look over what I have written down from the past. And sometimes the lyrics match what you want.
Q. What kind of lyrics do you think are good lyrics?
Yugyeom: the way you listen and the way you write is different. I'm the type to play a melody when I'm trying to write lyrics then I see what matches well in terms of pronunciation. JB hyung pays more attention to the lyrics so lyrics I could never think of came up (from JB). I would be into something else and hyung would come up with lyrics like ”Today you'll raise the white flag".
Tumblr media
Q. What is a point you appreciate about each other's dancing?
JB: Yugyeom's dancing line is very clean cut. When he stretches out, the lines are really pretty and it also gives off a modern dance feel. He is the best at peculiar moves with his long legs. On the other hand my dance has more roughness.
Yugyeom: what's funny is, I realised this after watching the music video, that I dance with all my fingers out (?) together whereas hyung is the opposite
JB: (his fingers out together?) Yugyeom really likes this.
Yugyeom: That's what my favorite American dancer always did. It has become a habit.
Q. Yugyeom is always wearing black skinny pants in his Instagram dance videos, is it like a uniform?
JB: Not only when he dances, he just doesn't wear other pants in general. Yugyeom has lots of the same pants (laugh). He likes black skinny pants so much that he wears them even during practice. And he has stage shoes, which are more comfortable than sneakers, so he always wears them during practice too.
JB: For me I need the pants width to be big a little. And I always need to have sneakers on. Yugyeom likes skinny style while I'm the type to like a flimsy style.
Q. Things you talked about the most while preparing for JUS2.
JB: It was 'How should we organise/format the album”. Since it's our first time doing a minimal sound, we wondered if it would go well and we worried a lot about the album. We had lots of public relation meetings too (laugh). Looking back, it was fun. Feels like I've been travelling abroad for a few months. To be honest, I haven't been able to travel abroad much but whenever I travel even for a short time I feel really excited, but rather than an amusement park kind of fun I would feel a calm kind of fun. To paraphrase that, it's similar to the feeling.
Yugyeom: It was really fun. Seeing hyung almost everyday, we also talked a lot. I also liked the times where we would go grab a drink after finishing writing songs. Since JUS2 participated in songwriting and also outfits and choreography so it has lots of meaning. The teasers were also captured freely with a film camera while listening to music. Many new unique attempts were made in the preparation process.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q. Feels like you have expanded a lot musically. Is there something you do to keep growing?
JB: When I see people I respect or people who are doing well think I should have more thoughts of ’Why is this all I can do'. That's how it works. I think. “Let's have a lot of experiences that will touch me, both indirectly and directly” When I have a chance, I go to exhibitions and think about the agony of the artists. I also wonder how I can use the SNS, which is so full of things, for my development. l once wondered how l could use so much SNS for my development. I take note of places and exhibitions recommended by people, I thought it would be good to get ideas from impressive artwork or videos.
Q. You've been a part of GOT7 for more than 6 years but this is your first time working together with just the two of you. Is there something new you learnt?
Yugyeom: There is no such thing. If I really try to find one, I thought hyung only ate Korean food but he actually likes eating even cream, curry and udon now.
JB: I feel like I've gotten influenced by the other members. I thought my preference for Korean food would never change but I've come to an acceptance point. Last time when we went to Paris, Bambam wanted to try snails. I rejected saying I could never eat snails but it was actually more delicious than I expected. That's the case, I have even eaten snails.
Tumblr media
Q. If you were to pick the happiest moment in your day?
JB: When I clean the cats' dung. I see with my eyes that I can do something for someone else. I feel joy seeing the cats in a good shape/image. When I see the bin full of their dung, pride overcomes me as l know (they) have become cleaner.
Yugyeom: I'm the type who likes having lots of schedules but there are times when I become tired physically. I consult with my company and decide on a day off, and the moment I step foot into my house I feel really happy. A break once in a while could be so sweet. I'm happy when I can sleep late after working on songs all night.
Q: Is there anything you've discovered or thought about differently recently?
JB: On the way home after producing yesterday, the taxi driver took a wrong turn and we ended up at Yeouido. Looking out at the buildings through the window, this thought came to me. Within those buildings, people may be fighting or happy but the buildings seen from within the taxi only just look beautiful. I thought maybe the world looks more beautiful if you see it from a distance instead of up close. I thought we too might need some distance in our life as well.
Q: Is there anything you've discovered or thought about differently recently?
Yugyeom: I have always thought this but recently there's something that I've felt more strongly.I must really love music a lot (laughs). I would go crazy if I don't listen to it. If lI'm not listening to music, it feels like I have to and l'd keep thinking about the music I want to listen to. I've been producing songs lately and they've been very healing to me. Listening to and making good music in itself is a source of healing to me. So l realised once again. Ah, I must really love music.
Tumblr media
Q. Do you feel the stress of writing while listening to music you like?
Yugyeom: not at all. I've never had such thoughts. There's a song I'm into lately. I really like Travis Scott's Can't Say' so l keep listening to it and watching the music video.
Q. JUS2 will have a world tour in April. GOT7 also proved themselves through a world tour too. What is the meaning behind world tours.
JB: It is like the result of one's efforts. Something that tells me how hard I've tried. An album allows me to witness the response to my agony/thoughts and a world tour allows me to experience that response.
Q. JB you've been uploading mixtapes on music sites for a few years now. How did this experience influence JUS2 work?
JB: I think it made me want to try doing what I really like. In fact, when you make music and keep storing them and going back to edit them, that way you won't have any results. Even if I get a beating (get punished) let's just show them!' that kind of mindset. The fans liked it but people around me reacted coolly. They said I put too much strength in it. I'm also considering different formats. Using the name Def. I wanted to differentiate between me who is in public and me who likes hip-hop R&B. Def. means the best with a full stop after it, ending it with the best. I wanted to convey the meaning that it's only over after I do my absolute best. Moving forward, of course l'll work hard doing the things I'm doing but I really want to show the image of me doing the things I like.
Q. What you want to achieve through JUS2.
JB: Music site ranking was not our goal. "Leť's show a fun and cool different colour”, let's show a completely different image from GOT7 were our goals. Actually even now I'm satisfied. As much as the album was well made, I like it/feel good.

Home [Jungkook One Shot]
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Word Count: 1.8K
Warning(s): Mention of sex and death
Summary: The light and love of his life Y/N. The thought of her made him fall more and more in love with her, but the worry of each call and each visit being the last made it hurt. Having a girlfriend overseas can be hard, but when she is serving in the military, the added worry can make it harder.
A/N: As a child of a veteran and it being the Fourth of July, I though this would be an interesting spin. Also, the inspiration behind this prompt was the new BTS song “Lights”, which I highly recommend you listening too who reading this, as I did while writing it. I hope you guys enjoy!
“You’re going to do amazing tonight Jungkook. You always do. There’s no need to stress, okay?” His girlfriend, Y/N told him through FaceTime.
“I know Y/N. It would be easier for me to feel at ease if you were here with me, though. I miss you so much” He said back to her.
“Just one more month Kookie” she responded back, finishing up pinning the last pin on her blazer. FORMATION IN TEN. “I have to go sweetie. They’re calling us down. I love you so much, and I’ll call you later, okay?”
“Okay babe. Be careful, and I love you too” Jungkook said ending the call. Y/N was serving in the United States Army and was finishing up her last year in her contract. They met while she was on her first tour, which was in South Korea. Ever since bumping into each other in the bagel shop early that Thursday morning, they’ve been inseparable, despite the distance. Jungkook thought it was amazing of her, to serve her country the way she did, even though people in both his and her family said that it’s not something a ‘woman is supposed to do’. He was so proud of her and bragged about her often.
Hoseok saw the look in his face as soon as he hung up. “What’s wrong hyung?” He asked, although, being pretty sure of the answer.
“I just miss her. It’s on night’s like tonight I wish I was able to have her back here with us, calming me down and hyping us up for this show” Jungkook replied, now looking up from his blank phone screen. “I wanted her to see the debut of our new song for herself, Jimin and I worked so hard on the showcase for the song, and it sucks she can’t be here for it.”
Hoseok looked at the maknae of the group with a sympathetic expression. He hatted seeing him like this, and he couldn’t imagine what it was like. Especially when Y/N was deployed to a different country for months at a time, where at any point she could be killed. “The important thing is that she WILL see it. Plus, you know what she’s doing is necessary, and it’s not forever. Like she said, just one more month” He said, trying to help Jungkook lift his spirits a bit.
It’s true, life for the partner of an active duty soldier was not easy. They dealt with the daily fear of having their partner deployed for months at a time, and during that time they’d have limited connection with them. While they were home, they would love on each other like never before because they never knew if that was going to be the last time they’d feel their touch or hear their voice. For Jungkook and Y/N, things were a bit harder. Jungkook dealt with the stress deployment brought, on top of only getting to see each other a handful of times in person because Y/N was stationed over in Texas. Whenever they were able to see each other they would do everything and anything they could within the time they had. When they made love, he made love to her as if it was the last time he was ever going to be able too, because it could have every well been the last time. It took them an hour at times to get out of bed in the mornings because they didn’t want to separate from the normalcy that being together like that caused.
“Yeah, you’re right. Then after this we can finally live together and have the life we’ve been dreaming about” Jungkook said, now getting up to head out with Hoseok to meet the others. “You ready to give one hell of a performance tonight?”
“I’m always ready. Let’s do this, for ARMY!” Hoseok said to pump up the vibe.
All the boys go together back stage before heading out to start the concert and started to do their fan chant to get them excited and ready for the performance. “KIM NAMJOON, KIM SEOKJIN, MIN YOONGI, JUNG HOSEOK, PARK JIMIN, KIM TAEHYUNG, JEON JUNGKOOK, BTS!!!!”
“Okay guys” Namjoon started out. “Let’s go out there and give Seoul the best show they’ve ever seen!”
All the boys yelled back in response to the hype. Jungkook still missing Y/N, tried to push it to the side. Y/N meant the world to him, but so did ARMY. For any performance, he tried to push the world to the side and focus in on ARMY.
“Are you guys ready for an amazing show tonight?!” Jimin yelled in his microphone. The crowd roared in response, and the boys started off the concert by singing Boy With Luv.
Throughout the concert, the boys had a blast, just as they always do. Looking around, Jungkook took the time to take in all that was surrounding him. Sometimes he found it unbelievable that the band made it to places like here, in big stadiums. The Love YourselfTour, has to be his favorite by far. As he’s scanning the crowd, Jungkook sees his family and he begins to cry. Both his mother and father waving at him, he puts his hand on his face to hide the tears that were falling. Soon, Jin comes over to hug and comfort him.
“Jungkook here sees two very important people to him, his appa and eomma” Jin said in the microphone.
Pulling himself together, Jungkook says, “I’m so glad to see them here today. I haven’t seen them in a few months, so to see them here, watching us in one of our biggest performances we’ve done so far, it’s truly the best feeling”
Yet, he was still feeling like something was missing, and he knew exactly what it was, Y/N. His parents, ARMY and hyungs were all there, but not Y/N. “Tonight, we are going to be performing our new song, Lights, for you. Jimin and I worked hard to write and create the performance for this song, we hope you enjoy it” Jungkook said.
Right after, the song began to play behind them, signaling Jungkook to start singing and it had ARMY roaring. “You’re my light, you’re my light” Jimin sang into the mic, and right at that point the monitors that once held a close-up version of what they were doing on stage switched over to a slideshow of photos of Y/N and Jungkook throughout the last two and a half years. From photos of them at Disney World, date nights at their favorite bakery, her meeting his family back in Busan, him meeting her family back in New York, laying around the house, going to the beach, and some photos he just took of her that he absolutely loved.
“Every time I’m thinking about love, every time I’m thinking about love”Hoseok sang in the mic. Now, starring at the monitor hadn’t realized that he was tearing up. I really do love her, he thought to himself. “You’re my light, you’re my light” Now, he was singing through the mic, and with such power. She is his light, his muse, his everything.
Right after his verse, the crowd was roaring louder than they had normally through the whole concert, so this caused Jungkook to look back to see what was causing the reaction. He couldn’t even begin to describe what the sight in front of him was making him feel. He saw Y/N walking to him with Taehyung and Yoongi guiding her. She was wearing her Army uniform and her hair pulled back, looking like she just came here from the airport. He couldn’t even keep himself up, because his knees were buckling right underneath him from the splurge of emotions. She continued to walk towards him, and it still felt like a dream to him. This is the first time he was seeing Y/N in 5 months, and it still didn’t feel real, even though she had now reached him and was hugging him right where he was kneeling down in tears.
“Everyone, please help us in welcoming our Jungkook’s girl back, Sgt. Y/L/N Y/N of the United States Army, or as we like to call her, Y/N/N” Namjoon said in the mic, causing the crowd to roar loud again, on their feet this time.
Still hugging Jungkook, Y/N said in his ear, “I’m home Kookie.”
           “Home?” He asked confused.
“Didn’t we discuss about me moving to South Korea with you once my contract with the Army was up?”
“I mean, yes, but you still have another month, don’t you?”
She gave him the warmest smile that melted everything around him as she said, “Well, there’s a reason they discharged me earlier then expected…”
Jungkook looked at her confused, but before he could ask her what she meant, Namjoon spoke into the mic again, saying, “Everyone, Y/N has a video here for our Kook here to see, and she wanted everyone here to see it with him.”
Why is he smiling so big at me?Jungkook thought to himself. As he was watching the video of Y/N coming out of a room, he saw her holding something. “What does it say?”A female voice said behind the camera, causing Jungkook to read the Korean subtitles on the bottom. At this point, Y/N was holding his hand in excitement.“It’s positive Carey. I’m pregnant. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it. I’m going to have a baby!!!!”and that ended the video, leaving Jungkook shocked and speechless, while the boys came up in a rush to congratulate their maknae in entering the world of fatherhood. The crowd were yelling a mixture of things, all in excitement as well.
Looking at Jimin, Jungkook asked, “Was all this why my parents were here tonight?”
But, Y/N stepped in saying, “I asked to be here. I wanted them here when I revealed the news to you. I know how much all the people here mean to you, so I want them to share in this next chapter.”
“Is this why you were discharged a month early? Because you’re pregnant?”
Y/N didn’t say anything at first, she just nodded her head yes. Once she saw Jungkook was still not saying anything about the news, she looked at him with some sadness washing over her saying, “Are you upset that I’m pregnant? I thought you’d be more excited. I’m sorry Kookie-“
“You have NOTHING to be sorry for my love” Jungkook said interrupting her. “You are forever going to be the love of my life and now you’re giving me one of the biggest blessings I could ever ask for. I love you so much Y/N”
He began to pick her up and spin her around, with her responding, “I love you too Kookie. I can’t wait to begin our lives together with our little baby in the midst.”
“Me either Y/N. This is the happiest day of my entire life. You’re my light.”

Statement of Diane Devine submitted to the Fraser Committee
Tumblr media
Statement Submitted by Diane Devine to the Ohio Legislator regarding involvement in the Moon Unification Church
dated May 18, 1977
I first became involved in the Unification Movement in May of 1973 in Louisville, Kentucky, where I was indoctrinated daily for a month long period to the Divine Principle teaching of the Korean organizer, Sun Myung Moon. When I was sent to Tarrytown, New York, to attend the international training center, I was persuaded to relinquish all of my possessions to the “Family,” as the commune was called, including the use of my car (a ’70 Olds Cutlas), furniture and all personal belongings. In Tarrytown I completed the rigorous 40 day and 120 day training programs in which I was deliberately subjected to the brainwashing methods which I have described openly to the Columbus media over the past year. My objective is to expose the criminal and damaging coercive practices which are being perpetrated on 30,000 American youth in the name of “religion.” To summarize very briefly, the mind control methods used by Moon and other cult leaders:
1. Complete alienation from family, friends, and former environment.
2. Sleep and nutritional deprivation resulting in physical and mental exhaustion (about 4-5 hours sleep nightly, low protein diet of food costing less than $1.00 daily).
3. Complete lack of privacy: never being allowed to think or read alone.
4. Constant peer pressure to reinforce the conviction that the doctrine of Principle is true.
5. Group coercion to conform to standards, behavior, and attitude of the Principled life.
6. Up to 12 hours daily either in indoctrination sessions or in street fund-raising, both activities supervised by a militaristic hierarchy of authority figures.
7. Constant conditioning to self-sacrifice, work harder to purify ones self of sin, and to prove ones allegiance to Moon, who was considered the Second Messiah at this time, literally bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth, and who must be obeyed without question.
8. Any objection, question or argument being met with intimidation, humiliation, rapid re-indoctrination, instilling ideas of self-worthlessness, fear of consequences of leaving the movement, and guilt for having been concerned over own feelings rather than unanimity with the totalist system, a general mistrust of all personal thoughts and emotions, forcing oneself to deny normal reactions or impulses to gain acceptance from other group members, particularly those in authority positions.
The result of undergoing these programming techniques is that the individual identity is obliterated and replaced by a mass-identity carrying an entirely new system of moral and social values, allowing itself to be be easily manipulated by others who speak the new language and set the standards of the new morality. Existing always in a hypnotic or highly suggestible state of mind, one participates compliantly in all activities expected of him, mainly selling token objects in the street to raise money, or rehearsing lectures to be presented to new recruits. The simple, immediate goals of the Unification Church are to increase its wealth and its membership. The ultimate goals are purely political and in no way religious. The teaching of Divine Principle itself is merely a control mechanism to remould the thinking of masses of people, rendering an army of thousands usable for whatever purposes Moon dictates. It is a completely fascist system with Moon as the only decision maker (thus the famous Moon quotation “I am your brain.’’) and the highest ranking officials in the American movement all being of foreign nationality, primarily German, Dutch, French, Italian, and Japanese. Moon claims that the 30,000 membership must be maintained and that the Divine Principle must be injected into every field of American life, meaning that influential people in the government, business, and educational areas must be cultivated and brought to accept the ideology of Unification.
The Divine Principle, or Unification teaching, can be understood as a providence of restoration, whereby man will be reunited with God when he overcomes his fallen, sinful nature, lives in peace and harmony with his brother, etc., etc. (the usual cliches). Moon promises to cleanse impure blood in a marriage ceremony, thus bringing a new race to establish the foundation for the Kingdom of Heaven, which will eventually be migrated from the U.S. to Korea. The holy mission of the Blessed Family is to sacrifice individual, family, society, and nation for the sake of uniting the entire world in love and brotherhood. His followers believe his teaching to be the only solution to communication with atheistic Communist ideologies, and that each Moonie must exist for the one goal of converting the Communist world to the Unification Movement, and with all of mankind as one to be reunited with God. Moon has promised to have the knowledge of how to organize a world government and pledges himself as Lord to be the Savior to erect the World Theocracy. He describes the system as a form of Socialistic Democracy, although there is no policy research center where, as a Moonie, one might study government or learn more about the New Order. Moon, as the Lord, is entrusted to make all decisions. In bringing recognition to Moon and his teaching, his followers are instructed very carefully on how to present themselves so as to gain approval. It is commonly accepted to employ what is laughingly called “heavenly deception” to manipulate someone to think favorably about the movement, particularly if the someone is influential. Outlandish lies are told to such people, smaller lies are habitually told to everyday-people in the street to secure donations. A general disrespect for the public is fostered, and an attitude of delight in one’s ability to exploit for Unification purposes is definitely encouraged.
During my one year involvement I participated in several major programs, semi-practicing heavenly deception with pangs of conscience. I helped host the British Project in which 120 students from England and Ireland attended training sessions at Tarrytown; I worked on the publications staff and designed propagandistic literature; I designed banners for the 21-City Day of Hope Tour and participated as a Public Relations Representative in trying to persuade police officers from each city to attend Moon’s banquet and Day of Hope speeches; I participated in the Fast and Prayer for Watergate in which I was assigned to speak with certain Congressional Representatives asking them to pray for President Nixon and lobbying their support for the Office of the Presidency, as it was phrased; I was assigned the position of State Representative for the state of Kentucky, which I refused to accept, openly confiding my feelings of desperation and conviction that the movement was un-democratic and un-Christian.
In closing I want to emphasize that this is a political movement, distracting the public’s attention by presenting itself as a church, and successfully delaying any judicial action.
One year ago a group of 300 parents met with a Congressional Committee seeking investigation, but to my knowledge the issue of religion and protection by the First Amendment still enable Moon’s empire to prosper $50 million annually, and while thousands of young people continue to suffer intense psychological damage. It may be appropriate to outline some future objectives in an effort to emphasize the grave importance of initiating investigations at this time. Every Sunday morning Moonies pledge to die for Moon, martyrizing themselves at the 38th parallel in Korea in case of invasion. By 1981 Moon intends to take his followers to Moscow to hear him speak publicly. The ultimate goal is to sway an election, lobby heavily and provide Congressional aides to each office, eventually replacing the United Nations with the Unification Church.
Since 1969 [when it was founded] the Moonist front organization, the Freedom Leadership Foundation, has been has been pro-Viet Nam, pro-Cambodia, and pro-South Korea. FLF publishes a journal called The Rising Tide advocating strong military defense of Asian countries. FLF representatives are assigned to each Congressional office, and regularly sponsor dinners and fireside meetings with about 10 conservative-minded Representatives from Congress. A list of these names could be secured on request. During the first years of its existence, FLF denied its affiliation with the Unification Church, although all activities and publications produced by FLF were directly funded by the UC through the contributions raised in the Washington area by the flower and candle selling teams. FLF members were all versed in Divine Principle and the Theory of Victory over Communism. On weekends or Congressional breaks, FLF members were writing articles for The Rising Tide, or selling flowers with the UC teams. All members of UC are used interchangeably in any of the 60 front organizations, as needed or assigned by Moon. Several FLF’ers were top lecturers. The more dynamic and articulate men were chosen to represent FLF, although they all had proven themselves as obedient and easily controlled during a testing-time as UC lecturers and flower sellers. The same Principled manner of maintaining militaristic order (ie Cain-Able relationships) was exercised within FLF. In 1973 Gary Jarmin was acting president. A list of Moonies participating in FLF activities could also be secured on request. (see Alan Wood report)
Moon dictated at Tarrytown and Barrytown that it was essential for each UC Leader to know inside-and-out the three books, Divine Principle, Victory Over Communism, and Unification Thought. (quote Moon “0ur goal is to have our mind united with our body, and with this as the bullet we shall smash the world.’’ He refers to having bodily actions automatically controlled by the theoretical contents of the ideologies) Those who could memorize and pass tests on this substantial amount of material could qualify for any position within UC and would be promised a position of leadership, even future presidency of a nation. Among the respected positions in the present church are any assignment as Public Relations Representatives (openly lobbying in Congressional offices and acknowledging affiliation with UC) or as State Representative(speaking with influential persons in state government). In Moon’s quotation,” Let’s say there are 500 sons and daughters like you in each state, then we can control the government, he is referring to 500 members who qualify as Leaders. He intends to use these members to organize campaign teams, to work within various areas of the government and business.
During the 72 and 73 US 21 city speech tours Moon asked these Leaders to lure prominent people in each city to attend his banquet and lectures. Hundreds of city and state government officials attended each presentation. Follow-up teams of PR workers were assigned to meet and cultivate those who had responded favorably, the goal being to teach them Divine Principle, or at least impress them with our dedication to purpose and enthusiasm. Offer to help them in any campaign, regardless of which party they represented. Keep records of PR activities. The object here was understood as merely becoming practiced in campaigning. Moon stated that he would decide which US presidential candidate the UC would back when the time had arrived to “put him in office.” We were not to question the choice. Moon stated that thousands of UC Blessed Couples would be migrating from the US to Korea to live communally there when the UC takes the Korean government. He frequently made references for the need for some of the older members to die at that time. He said that he, himself, would die at the age of 80, but that this would be necessary to defend Korea in war and that in so doing the US would be forced to send aide. The Sunday morning pledge which states “I will march bravely forward into the enemy camp until I have judged them completely with the weapons with which God has been defeating Satan” refers to the need to shed the blood of martyrdom to build the Heavenly Kingdom. He taught that some will live to see the Kingdom, others will not. Once the Korean government was well-secured, the plan was to assign UC members to ambassadorships in each Korean embassy throughout the world.
Regarding the selection of candidates to be assigned as first ambassadors to the new Korean government, it was announced that a Japanese Leader named Kamiyama would be able to soon run for election in Japan, with the assistance of a man already holding an official position, by the name of Kuboki. With Kamiyama in office, the doors could easily be opened in Japan. It was announced that Paul Werner, a German leader, would be the first to take an official position in Germany. A younger fellow named Dan Fefferman, an American, is being groomed by Moon to take a position in Israel. No other names were announced, but many were rumored. There was competition among the state representatives for Moon’s attention. Moon expected that each state representative serve at least a three year mission in a foreign country, forcing the Americans to become bilingual. He made international assignments arbitrarily, whether or not a person could speak a language he was expected to be able to lecture the Divine Principle in the native tongue of the country to which he was sent. State representatives from the past three years were sent to 40 countries in 1974. I believe there are now missionaries in 120 countries. Moon promised to tour the world and visit each of these countries and speak to the membership using the missionaries as interpreters. This places each foreign-UC member in a position comparable to Bo Hi Pak, or as Moon’s right hand man, at the particular time of his visitation to that country.
It was assumed from Moon’s many references to the United Nations, that we should be expecting a self-destruction which would enable the UC to proclaim itself as the only unified international organization demonstrating a peaceful standard of living. He predicted that the destruction of the UN would be the thing which would greatly cause the public’s attention to be turned to the UC. He stated that there would be worldwide economic collapse and that the UC would be prepared to offer relief and assistance to thousands of people at the centers, which would be established as hostels, and that they would convert thousands at that time and use them to advance a campaign or election of the presidential candidate chosen by Moon. All UC women are expected to know how to prepare menus, cook for, and serve at least a hundred people. In some places in California self-subsistent farms are being set up. Leaders are being assigned to business enterprises which Moon has purchased in the US dealing with high nutritional foods, particularly fish. Moon stated that at such a time of mass-hysteria in the US, it may be necessary to know martial arts as a form of self defense. He also said many times “All of the Korean businesses and American businesses will be run by the leaders and the air rifles are being made now for you,” implying at the time of disaster the UC would be armed. He promised to purchase an airline so that we could travel internationally with safety. He referred to this as a “fleet of jets.” He said that New York would be the first city to experience the depression and this is the reason he has concentrated on buying property that is cultivatable in the upper state area. He predicted that people would leave the city in a sudden outpouring, and that UC would have food stored and shelter prepared to receive them.

Ive been waiting for this moment
this was a request from @kpopgirlbtssvt
i hope you enjoy it! sorry it took so long to post since ive been super busy but im glad that ive done it now.
this is a taehyung x american reader SOULMATE AU
(IN THIS UNIVERSE WHEN YOU MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH YOUR SOULMATE SPARKS APPEAR)
Warnings: None
Genre: flufffffff
EDITED
Tumblr media
hi. so if you dont know me, im ___ and i live in america. as a kpop fan it is very incontinent that i live so far away, as im always anticipating a new comeback from a new group as a stan multiple.
life is very different over here than in korea anyways, as i am a small not very known ice skater. ive been an ice skater since i was young and as ive been doing it for so long, i feel at one with the ice. ive become so in sync with it and i do it pretty much everyday. i always hoped since i was a little girl that i would be famous, but now i dont really mind, as long as i do ice skating i dont mind.
Tumblr media
i was sat at home, scrolling through tumblr and other social medias, as i saw that bts made a tweet and it was Taehyung (aka my actual husband) and its convenient that i speak korean as i read it, it said;
‘Hello America! Im excited for the concert soon! See you soon ARMYS #V’
I WAS SO EXCITED, i actually managed to get tickets this time but they were so close to getting sold at like 2 seconds after they were put up. it was a big chunk of my money taken but i wont regret it.
for the rest of that day, i sat around not really doing much as i prepared my lungs and feelings for tomorrow night.
+time skip+
it was the next day and i could actually feel my tearducts preparing themselves. did i not mention that i managed to get front row tickets? it was a huge amount of money but as i said, i wont regret it.
a few hours past and the time for me to leave came upon. i must say i dont look too shabby today as i dressed up a little bit- but not too much.
i gather all of my belongings as i head out my door for a long drive. i sit in my car, and play their cds and jam out to them.
Tumblr media
half way through they've played loads of bops including FAKE LOVE, IDOL and even BS&T.
i was jamming out when suddenly Magic Shop came on which was definitely one of my favourites and so i reached out my arms towards the stage and started bopping out. as soon as taehyung started singing, i was looking upon him as he was stood so close to me.
he just so happened to look down and our met at once.
its like time stopped.
his visuals lit up the huge screen and his eyes were locked on mine.
the world seems to slow down
i can no longer hear the screams of the other screaming fans and sparks flew all over the stage and around us.
his verse soon ended and he had to look away, but as he did he had a huge spread grin across his face. his smile was giddy and he got really excited and started jumping across the stage to the beat.
all the girls around me start screaming
‘OMG HE LOOKED AT ME’
‘OH MY LORD WE HAVE TO BE SOULMATES I FELT THE SPARK’
‘OPPA LOOKED AT ME’
and i started doubting myself. what if it wasnt me?
after another hour, the concert finished and everyone was ecstatic. everyone gets up to leave the arena when a member of staff comes up to me and asks me if i know korean. i answer yes and they ask me to go with them.
i follow and they lead me backstage. as i open the door im greeted with a bunch of sweaty boys which was hOT. me and taehyung made eye contact and a huge smile meets his face.
he comes up to me and leads me to a different room.
we speak for a while and time seems infinite. i finally get to know him more than on stage.
he says ‘it seems like its gotten too late. you should head home ____! i have your contact details, but i need to admit that i will miss you a lot. as we just finished a world tour, we have to go back to korea in a few days.’
‘ah, i understand tae. i will miss you a lot too. its a shame that i may not see you for s while/ i sadly smile.
‘WAIT i know this is gonna sound crazy, but come with us! it is crazy but ill miss you too much, i already like you so much!’ he whines
‘but ill be leaving so much behind. i even need to pack..’ i trail off
‘yeah. its fine, you didnt have to-it was just a suggestion’ his shoulders slump as he looks down.
‘that doesnt mean i wont. once i pack up, ill come and move to korea’ i smile brightly.
‘ahhh thats my girl!’

[ARTICLE] A look back at Monsta X’s amazing 2018 from show wins to a second world tour
With K-Pop’s star continuing to rise outside of South Korea, Monsta X rode the wave and they took on the world with great success. From a world tour to two new albums to making history in America, Shownu, Kihyun, Jooheon, I.M., Wonho, Hyungwon and Minhyuk have had a great 2018; and Monbebe (the name for their loyal fanbase) couldn’t be prouder. Here’s a look back at the year in Monsta X:
Jealousy got a first win
Jealousy, their unbelievably catchy comeback single from March, picked up a win on SBS MTV’s The Show. The trophy was an indication that the group’s popularity in their home country was on the rise, as they hadn’t won since Dramarama. (Beautiful deserved better but that’s a whole different feature).
Released The Connect: Deja Vu
March 2018 saw the release of their EP The Connect: Deja Vu which shot to number 2 on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
A second world tour
Monsta X took The Connect on the road over the summer, which included stops in London, Amsterdam, Madrid, the US and Brazil.
Jooheon released his solo mixtape
Jooheon’s new solo mixtape DWTD (Do What They Do) dropped on 31 August and took the number one spot in nine countries – New Zealand, Germany, Brazil, Sweden, Singapore, Indonesia, Chile, France, and Finland. The mixtape also made it into the top five in the United States, Canada, England, the Netherlands, Italy, China, Turkey, Japan, and Hong Kong. The rapper treated us to a live performance of DWTD’s standout track Runway at KCON in Thailand (with guest appearances from Shownu and I.M.) and we’re hoping for more of the same in 2019.
Shownu collaborated with PREP
London band PREP teamed up with Monsta X’s leader Shownu and Korean indie band Se So Neon’s So!YoON! for the song Don’t Look Back. Shownu practiced really hard to sing in English for his verse, and the result is a funky, magical slow jam.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the track, PREP member Dan Radclyffe said: ‘Monsta X are all about the bangers. But that’s why we thought the Shownu collaboration would be so interesting. ‘His fans are used to hearing him really attack those high-energy Monsta X tracks, so this was a nice chance for him to try his hand at a tender ballad. We think he smashed it.’
They became the first K-Pop group to perform at the Jingle Ball in the US
Monsta X became the first K-Pop group to play at the Jingle Ball, and the only K-Pop act on the bill this year. The members performed at Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, San Franciso and New York, taking to the stage at Madison Square Garden.
They met some famous faces
During the Jingle Ball dates Monsta X got the chance to meet and greet some celebs (or did the celebs get the chance to meet and greet Monsta X?). Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Khalid are just some of the big names that said hi.
Released Take 1: Are You There?
The seven-member band answered Monbebe’s prayers when they came back with their second full album in October.
It was a reminder of how versatile Monsta X are. Their stomping pop and hip-hop roots were present on tracks like Shoot Out and Mohae, but they branched out on smoother songs like Underwater and Myself. And the Korean version of Spotlight was just the icing on the cake.
Shoot Out got four wins
Monsta X were collecting trophies all over the shop with four wins on music shows M! Countdown, Show Champion, SBS MTV’s The Show and Music Bank. The wins made Shoot Out their most successful song to date with the group besting K-Pop icons BoA and IU. The only way is up.
Became Tony Moly models
They teamed up with makeup and beauty brand Tony Moly this year leaving other models jobless. The group released cute lip tints and creams that Monbebe wanted to get their hands on, even if it was just for the photo cards.
Bagged two awards at MAMA 2018
They’re going to run out of room on their mantelpiece soon if this keeps up. At the Asian Music Awards, Monsta X bagged the Style in Music Award and the Worldwide fan’s choice top 10 award.
Honourable mentions
A new season of Monsta X Ray dropped, Kihyun hosted a photography exhibition and Hyungwon tore it up at the Ultra Music Festival as DJ H.One.

JULY 2019 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW
Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of July 31 KST:
A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).
A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.
Threads do not have to take place directly during an important date listed on the schedule, but must be related to what the muse is mentioned to be doing in the paragraph explaining their schedule/the company’s schedule for the month and/or their thoughts on the mentioned activities or lack thereof.
These schedules may be updated throughout the month if new information needs to be added.
Overall Company
Gold Star’s family concert is next month, so this month is full of serious rehearsals. There will be several days where all Gold Star artists spend the day at the building rehearsing separately and together in order to rehearse the family-like atmosphere in addition to the songs themselves..
Important dates
July 15, 18, 30, & 31: Gold Star Nation concert rehearsal days with all idols coming in and out to rehearse throughout the day.
Gold Star Soloist 1
She continues to have studio time for her next album as she has for a while, but the biggest change is the Gold Star Nation concert rehearsals, where Gold Star has tasked her with taking the lead on filming a small part of a behind the scenes video to be uploaded to Youtube following the concert. The concept of her being assigned the role is to show the senior-most Gold Star idol interacting with and taking care of her hoobaes during rehearsal.
Important dates:
N/A
Gold Star Soloist 2
The first concert dates of her South Korean tour have been set for September, so this month will be the beginning of serious rehearsals. Finally, progress is being made on her album too, with the mission to narrow down the set list by the end of this month as she’s brought in to record real versions of songs that have made the short list for the album. Gold Star has decided to go for a full album due to how long it’s been since her last album. She’ll also be appearing on a soloists-only special episode of Weekly Idol.
Important dates:
July 16: Weekly Idol Soloist Special filming (also appearing: Dimensions Soloist 1 and Gold Star Soloist 3, special appearance by BC Soloist 1, to air July 24)
Gold Star Soloist 3
He’s coming back with a single next month which means this month is comeback preparations before anything else. He has a break in his tour until after he’s done promoting his new single, so he’s Seoul-based for a little while again. This month, he’ll record the single and take promotional pictures, as well as appear on a special soloists-only episode of Weekly Idol.
Important dates:
July 16: Weekly Idol Soloist Special filming (also appearing: Gold Star Soloist 2 and Dimensions Soloist 1, special appearance by BC Soloist 1, to air July 24)
Silhouette
Now that they’re back in Seoul following their brief tour in Japan, the members are focused on finishing their Japanese comeback album Trouble which will release next month. Their title track has already been recorded so they could perform it, but they’ll finish recording the b-sides and film the music video that will accompany the comeback during July.
Important dates:
July 7: Trouble MV filming.
Aria
Aria starts off their month filming their beach-set music video for their comeback shortly before it releases and promotions for the special summer single begin the following week. Marketed as a special release for the fans, there’s not a lot of pressure for the song to perform or even an overly busy promotion schedule. In the absence of fan signs and radio or television appearances, they‘ll continue filming their Aria’s Parallel Universe series using the alternate lives they chose last month. The scenes will be mostly scripted with some improvisation opportunities and they’ll get individual scenes and scenes of their parallel lives crossing. (admin note: muns have creative license over the details of the scenes based on what career/lifepath the muse chose, but they should be realistic and similar to the scenes found here.)
Important dates:
July 1: Wag-Zak M/V filming.
July 7: Release of “Wag-Zak” & showcase, promotions continue until August 7.
July 27: Performance at 2019 Ulsan K-Pop Festival in Ulsan (also performing: Lucid).
Origin
Two weeks at the beginning of the month will be spent continuing their stadium tour before they return to Seoul. Upon their return without many public schedules, they’re in high demand again and will not only be filming CFs for two brands, but they’ll also be filming their Japanese MV and drama-like scenes for an upcoming mobile game, Origin World, slated for global release late this year along with similar music video scenes for an OST that will be released with the game. Their new Japanese singles come out at the end of the month to precede the Japanese leg of their tour early next month.
Important dates:
July 6: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
July 7: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
July 12: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Stade de France in Paris, France.
July 13: Speak Yourself Stadium Tour concert at Stade de France in Paris, France.
July 15: Lights MV filming.
July 17: Hyundai Palisade CF filming. (unit CFs align with line distribution)
July 19-29: Origin World and “Heartbeat” MV filming.
July 20: PLAY / UP CF filming.
July 31: Release of Japanese single album Lights/Boy With Luv.
Impulse
Now that album recording is finished, July is spent learning choreography, shooting the album jacket, and filming the music video. In addition to all of this and company concert rehearsals, the members also continue rehearsals for their own upcoming world tour. Impulse will be one of the groups spending the most time at the Gold Star building this month, with multiple over-nighters and endless meetings about the expectations they’re expected to reach to satisfy the company.
Important dates:
July 20: Eclipse MV filming.
Fuse
The final track list has been picked from the songs recorded last month, so, early in the month, the album jacket shooting will be done and the MV will be filmed in preparation for their comeback at the end of the month. The title track is experimental and risky, but Fuse has been assured that Gold Star is confident that they’re experienced enough to handle it and make it a hit in a way few other groups could.
Important dates:
July 4: Zimzalabim MV filming.
July 23: Idol Room filming (to air August 1).
July 24: Release of “Zimzalabim” & The Fuse Festival, Day One album showcase, promotions continue until August 24.
Element
Their appearance on Immortal Songs last month did bring Element some new attention, though not quite to the extent Gold Star had hoped. Still, they’re moving on to preparing for their Seoul concert next month on top of the company concert rehearsals. They’ll be performing many of their own songs, some classic covers, as well as two new unit cover stages. The main rapper/lead dancer and main vocal will be performing a cover of “Sriracha” and the main dancer/lead rapper and maknae/lead vocal/lead dancer will be performing a cover of “OMG”. (Admin note: In-’verse they didn’t already perform these at their Tokyo concert.) They’ll be doing a few scheduled VLives after and before rehearsals to hype up fans for the concerts and tease the set list without giving it away.
Important dates:
July 8: Group pre-rehearsal VLive.
July 23: Group post-rehearsal VLive.
July 29: Group pre-rehearsal VLive.
Femme Fatale
As the month goes by and Ddu-Du Ddu-Du sweeps music shows and remains strong on the charts, it becomes clear it’s Femme Fatale’s biggest hit yet and could even be a possible song of the year contender. On one hand, that confirms Femme Fatale’s place as one of the top girl groups and Gold Star’s most favored girl group, but on the other hand, it all but confirms Gold Star won’t give the group another comeback before the end of the year in order to ride out Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’s success and reap the monetary benefits. There’s a big focus on the radio circuit this month to push the song and push general public favor while also strengthening their fan base with fan signs, but they’ve also booked two big photo shoots, one for Vogue Korea and one in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. On top of everything else, they’ll be in the studio recording a remix of BEE’s “So Hot” that will be released after they perform it as a special stage at the Gold Star Nation concert next month.
Important dates:
July 1: Guesting on KBS Cool FM radio show.
July 2: Guesting on MBC FM4U radio show.
July 3: Photo shoot for Vogue Korea (August issue).
July 4: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 5: Filming of Idol Room episode (to air July 16).
July 6: Fan sign in Goyang.
July 7: Fan sign in Seongnam.
July 8: Photo shoot and video filming for Elle Magazine x Louis Vuitton.
July 9: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 10: Guesting on MBC FM4U radio show.
July 11: Guesting on KBS Cool FM radio show.
July 12: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 13: Fan sign in Yeouido, Seoul.
July 14: Fan sign in Sinchon, Seoul.
July 19: Guesting on SBS Power FM radio show.
July 21: Fan sign in Yeouido, Seoul.
July 28: End of music show promotions.

Jisoo and Y/N lay on Y/N’s talking about their dreams. Both girls, ever since they were young, have wanted to become singers. Jisoo wanted to be a famous pop singer whereas Y/N wanted to write her own songs with her guitar and tour the world.
“My YouTube channel has 1000 subscribers now and the cover of Loser by BIGBANG has gotten nearly 300,000 views. It’s insane.” Y/N said, scrolling through her YouTube on her phone.
“That’s crazy” Jisoo said, laying next to her, watching what she was doing.
When Jisoo and Y/N were young children, they would sing their hearts out on a beaten up kareoke box Jisoo had been given as a birthday present from Y/N. It didn’t sound the best but it provided them with years of entertainment.
“Y/N! Y/N!” Jisoo yelled, running through the school corridor to reach her best friend.
“Look! This morning I saw on YGs website that they’re holding auditions in Korea in two months. I signed up instantly and I’m waiting on a reply now. I’m scared! It’s YG! Record company of BIG BANG!” Jisoo said, very quickly as she was so excited.
“Jisoo that’s so great!” Y/N squealed with her best friend. “What do you need to do?” Y/N asked. “I’m not sure yet. They’re going to email me soon. They’re holding 1000 auditions so hopefully I’ll be in time.” Jisoo said, nervous already.
That lunch time, Y/N and Jisoo found an empty classroom to brainstorm. “YG emailed me duing third period. Here it is.” Jisoo turned her laptop screen toward Y/N so she could read.
‘Dear Kim Jisoo,
Thank you for your application. We are delighted to inform you that you have an audition at the YG Entertainment Building on the 26th September. To the audition please be prepared with a dance to any song you like, an original song and you’ll be asked to sing a section of a song you won’t have prepared for. We look forward to seeing you.’
Y/N squealed excitedly before getting in her musical zone. “You can help me write the original song because you’re so good at it! Please Y/N?” Jisoo asked hopefully. “Of course I’ll help you. What kind of song do you want it to be?” Y/N asked, getting out her pen and notebook out of her bag to take down ideas. “I was thinking of a love song, with a twist to make it indivial. I want it to show off my vocals.” Jisoo said, thinking intently. Y/N wrote it down quickly as the bell rang for their next and final class of the day. “I’ll think tonight and I’ll let you know what I have tomorrow and we can adapt and add. See ya!” Y/N said before disappearing down the corridor to her next lesson.
That evening, Y/N sat at her computer with her microphone set up, ready to sing if creativity struck. She had scribbled down many words and chord patterns but she was yet to find one she was satisfied with. Y/N nor Jisoo had any experience in love so she was trying to be poetic but she felt it was becoming too cringe, which she didn’t want for Jisoo. Suddenly, a bright idea popped into Y/N’s head and her pen was flying. Words and notes were being written down so fast, the pen wasn’t far from breaking. Y/N began to record what was in her head with her guitar and her own singing voice. ‘I think I have something. Come over if you can’ Y/N text Jisoo, hoping she would come despite it being 11pm. In ten minutes, there was a knock on the door and Jisoo stood there impatiently. Both girls hurried upstairs and Y/N made Jisoo sit and listen to the recording.
“This is incredible Y/N.” Jisoo said, placing the headphones on the table. “We can change it to however you want as it’s only the first demo.” Y/N said, happy with her work for once. “No, no. I want to sing it exactly like this. It’s perfect. The lyrics aren’t too cliche and it’s melodic too. You’re a genius.” Jisoo said. Y/N and Jisoo switched some lyrics around and changed the end but after that, Jisoo was so excited to record she couldn’t wait the next day so at 1am on a very early Saturday morning, Y/N’s room was filled with Jisoo’s honey-like voice.
The sun had risen and it was 7am, but Jisoo and Y/N finally found the perfect take. They were both tired and once they had finished, instantly they laid down and fell asleep.
The next two months went extremely fast. Jisoo sang their song everyday to make sure it was engrained in her head. She had the song on a disc and she had an instrumental version that she could sing along too as she doubted Y/N could come with her to the audition just to play guitar. Jisoo had gotten advice from their schools dance teacher and perfected her dance to a song she loved. The audition day arrived and Y/N was getting ready with Jisoo before she would drive her to audition.
“Don’t wait outside, because I don’t know how long I’ll be or what happens after it. Thank you so much for everything you have done these past two months. With the song and everything too. I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have someone like you.” Jisoo hugged Y/N before walking into the large glass doors of YG. Y/N felt emotional, and terrified, for Jisoo.
Y/N didn’t hear anything from Jisoo that evening, or the next day, or the next day. She was confused because she had no idea why Jisoo was ignoring her, or where she was. Their friends from school hadn’t heard from her either and Jisoo’s parents refused to answer any of Y/N’s questions. She was lost.
time jump: 2 years later
It had been 2 years since Y/N had last heard from Jisoo. She tried not to think about it too much but it still hurt her. Y/N graduated school, and was spotted by someone from a different record company. She took the deal and started to work on her professional singing and guitar playing. Her dream was finally coming true but her best friend wasn’t there to share it with her.
In the past two years, Y/N had changed a lot. She had finally come to terms with her sexuality and she dressed differently. She acted the same, humble and caring, but she became more confident. Y/N was very happy that her dream was finally beginning to come true, especially as she walked onto a stage where she was about to make her debut as a rising singer.
She gripped the neck of her guitar nervously as a man announced her name. Y/N walked out as confidently as possible and began to play a song she had written long ago, the first original song she ever wrote. Every person at that debut show was going crazy. Phone cameras were out and cheering was heard. Y/N smiled as she had a conversation with the host and gave some simple facts about herself.
When Y/N walked off the stage, she was on a high. Many people approached her and congratulated her as she realised this is what she was born to do.
Jisoo was a trainee at YG Entertainment now. She had met new friends, one being Jennie Kim. She didn’t think about Y/N often, even though she could message her whenever she wanted, she just chose not to because she didn’t want to make Y/N feel bad that she was achieving her dream and Y/N wasn’t. Jisoo felt bad, but it was for the best. At least that’s what she told herself.
“JISOO! We are going to be debuting early! Me, you, Lalisa Manoban and Park Chaeyoung!” Jennie screamed as she ran into their dorm room. Jisoo jumped off her bed and began dancing around with Jennie.
“When?” Jisoo asked.
“5 days from today! We have to begin immediately which is why we have to find Lisa and Chaeyoung. Let’s go!” Jennie dragged Jisoo as they ran through the corridors. Their dreams were starting earlier than they expected!
Jisoo, Lisa, Chaeyoung and Jennie all met in the dance studio where they were immediately thrown into dancing for a song they recorded last week - Whistle. They found the dance hard but at the end of the day they had already completely the first verse.
Y/N was very excited to begin her career. Once people started noticing her, she was busy instantly with promotion of her single and performances on TV shows. She even starred on ‘The Tonight Show’ in the USA, where she announced her first album. She was more than excited to release her first album, but a lot was too be decided. She had to think about the photo book and photo card, the front cover and how she wanted it to sound. Her manager had told her she wouldn’t have long to decide to she sat in a hotel room at a desk, looking through pictures online to give her inspiration. The thought suddenly struck - light and dark. Y/N loved wearing black and it was her favourite shade, and darkness for the photos would be great, and she could have light ones as well. Her songs could be a mixture and she already thought of song ideas that would match. Great!
Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Chaeyoung, who had adopted the stage name: Rosé, stood backstage as they were prepared for their debut. One by one, they slowly walked out onto the dark stage as their names were called. They were scared and nervous but they had been waiting for this moment almost their whole lives, and the excitement weighed out any other feeling. “BLACKPINK” was the group name chosen. It felt good to have a name and have people soon saying it, Jisoo thought to herself.
The next month was spent releasing music, for both Y/N and BLACKPINK. Jisoo didn’t pay much attention to the media so she didn’t know about Y/N’s rise to fame, but Y/N knew about Jisoo. She saw her with her members on articles and on social media. Jisoo looked happy. Y/N’s album was released a week prior and it had blown up instantly. It hit #1 in Korea, Japan, Thailand, America and China. Everyone knew who she was, except Jisoo. Jisoo really was in her own world when it came to new music.
The Seoul Music Awards arrived, and Y/N was nominated for many awards, those including the Daesang award, Bonsang award, Record of the year and New artist award. She was against BLACKPINK in two of those, the Daesang award and the New artist award. To say she was nervous would be an understatement. Y/N would be performing in front of many other artists like Red Velvet, BTS, and most importantly, BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK weren’t performing but as Y/N was shown around the large venue, she knew exactly where they would be seated.
Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie and Rosé took their seats at a large table in the hall, where the awards were about to begin. “Who’s performing today?” Jisoo asked Lisa, who had been raving about the performances at the awards over the past few weeks. “BTS, Hyuna, GOT7 and Y/N.” Lisa said, saying Y/N’s name excitedly. “Y/N?” Jisoo asked, her heart dropping. “Yeah, her new album dropped the other month and it’s blown up. We are against her for the Daesang and New artist award. She’s really good, my girl crush.” Lisa said happily. “Do you have a picture of her?” Jisoo asked nervously. “Of course, she’s my home screen actually.” Lisa chuckled embarrassed. She had been obsessing over Y/N ever since her debut and clearly Jisoo hadn’t paid attention. Lisa showed Jisoo the photo on her home screen and Jisoo’s heart beat faster with nerves. Her old best friend was on the screen, smiling at a crowd with a guitar in hand. “What’s wrong unnie?” Lisa asked, locking her phone and placing it on the table. “She’s my old best friend.” Jisoo said. “I stopped talking to her completely, she probably hates me.” Lisa gasped slightly. Their conversation was interrupted by a large booming voice and the host walking out onto stage. Jisoo wasn’t really focusing as she was looking around for Y/N. Just as she turned to her right, she saw her. She sat on a table with Red Velvet and she was laughing about something with Yeri. Y/N looked more mature in her suit, seemingly made by Gucci by the design of it. Jisoo looked back at the stage, scared Y/N would see her.
The awards went fast, and then the first category Y/N was nominated for appeared. Record of the year. Many other amazing albums were nominated, including Red Velvet’s. Y/N joined hands with Yeri and Irene as they all waited, hoping the best for each other but also themselves.
“The winner for record of the year is, Y/N Y/L/N with her debut album.” Y/N stood up and hugged the members of Red Velvet and shook various hands as she walked up to the stage, a huge grin on her face. She took the award graciously, bowing to the host respectively. Y/N gave a small speech before her time ran out and she went and sat back down, placing her award on the table before it was taken away by her manager for safe keeping.
Y/N won the next two awards she was nominated for, the New artist and the Bonsang award. She beat BLACKPINK in the new artist award and saw them sitting here, her eyes settling on Jisoo as they made uncomfortable eye contact. Backstage, Y/N was preparing for her performance. She had changed and her hair had been restyled. Now she was wearing a casual outfit. She had a large shirt tucked into high waisted shorts as it was hot. Simple but Y/N liked it.
“Now, the performance you’ve all been waiting for, Y/N Y/L/N!” The host announced, disappearing from the stage. Y/N began to play her guitar from the side of the stage as the stage was still dark. It lit up slowly as she walked onto the stage with her guitar, singing happily. It was a joyful pop song that showed off Y/N’s vocals as she played her guitar along with the additional backing track. Everyone was going crazy for her as she sang, the hall being filled with people singing wildly. The whole hall erupted in cheer as Y/N ended on a high note. She walked off the stage humbly and went and sat back down, not before passing her guitar to her manager who took it away. The members of Red Velvet congratulated her as she sat down. The whole hall fell silent as they waited for the Daesang, the most prestigious award, to be announced. “This award has many incredible artists nominated, but we can only have one winner. The winner of the Daesang is...”
Everyone waited. BLACKPINK, Seungri, Y/N, BTS and Hyuna were all nominated. “Y/N Y/L/N.” Y/N’s heart stopped as she sat there shocked. She saw her own face on the screen and realised how crazy she looked. Winning the Daesang was something she didn’t expect this early on in her career. BLACKPINK stood up and clapped and everyone followed. Y/N was still in shock as she walked slowly to get the award.
“Wow, thank you so much for this. Thank you for supporting me and buying my album, and listening to it. I can’t believe anything like this would ever happen to me. Not long ago, I was just someone who went to school and wrote songs in their bedroom, but it’s insane that something like this has happened. I’ll forever be grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you.”
Y/N wiped a tear as she walked off to backstage, ready to be interviewed as BTS closed the event with their fantastic performance of Fake Love. She took pictures with other artists like the members of iKON and the many members of NCT. These people all congratulated her and praised her. She was overwhelmed with emotion.
“Y/N!” Lisa called as the rest of BLACKPINK followed. “BLACKPINK! Hi!” Y/N said, hugging them one by one.
“Hi Jisoo.”
“Hi Y/N, congratulations.” Jisoo said. The uncomfortable silence was filled up by Lisa praising Y/N nervously. Y/N stared right into Lisa’s eyes which made her even more nervous.
“Lisa is a huge fan, you’re her girl crush.” Jisoo said, making things less awkward between them. Lisa slapped Jisoo’s arm as Jennie and Rosé laughed. “It’s true. You’re her home screen.” Rosé said as Lisa turned a bright red. “That’s so cool.” Y/N said, laughing at how embarrassed Lisa was. Y/N put her arm round Lisa’s shoulder as Lisa looked like she was going to explode. “Do you guys want to come back to my apartment for our after party? There’s an official after party but ours is better and you guys can stay over if you want as with how drunk everyone’s going to be getting, I don’t think anyone wants to go home after that. Red Velvet are staying so you guys can too.” Y/N said. “That would be great.” Jennie said, hugging Y/N. “It’s starting almost now so just get here whenever you want, Im about to leave to go so just turn up and you’ll be let in. See you later.” Y/N said before walking off to do one last interview before heading home.
“You guys are so embarrassing.” Lisa said. “But, she’s so hot! Jisoo, how could you not have set us up sooner if you’re best friends.”
“I stopped talking to her.” Jisoo said bluntly. Lisa coughed awkwardly as she felt Jisoo was not in the mood to explain why. “Okay, well let’s go to our hotel and get our overnight bags and then head to hers.”
Back at her apartment, Y/N and everyone there was already drinking and celebrating. Many artists and different people related to the music industry were there enjoying themselves. Yeri and Y/N spoke in the corner to each other, the music being so loud they had to yell in each other’s ears. “You look so beautiful tonight.” Y/N said, making Yeri blush. “So do you.” Yeri said in return, making Y/N grin largely. “Thank you.” Y/N said.
The door opened and Blackpink walked in. They had all changed and they held their bags, which were taken and put into a room that was locked. Lisa instantly spotted Y/N in the corner, and looking at her and Yeri made her jealous. “Hey Yeri, I’ll be back. I’m just going to say hello to my friends.” Y/N said. Lisa slapped Jisoo’s arm as Y/N approached.
“You made it!” Y/N exclaimed. She was slightly tipsy already and it was obvious. “Cool party Y/N.” Jennie said, taking the drink Y/N was offering. “Jisoo, can I talk to you?” Y/N asked. Jisoo nodded nervously as Y/N took her over to the corner privately. “I don’t want things to be awkward. I’m sure you had your reasons for not talking to me and I’m just glad we can reconnect again.” Y/N said, seriously. Even though she was tipsy, her words were coming from a place of love. “I’m so sorry Y/N. I don’t know what I was thinking. You’re the reason this all happened and I just left. I don’t want things to be awkward either.” Jisoo said. Y/N and Jisoo embraced warmly as they rejoined the other members. Lisa was happier now that Y/N returned.
“Make yourselves at home. Go dance, drink, do what you want!” Y/N exclaimed. Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie left to get more drinks but Lisa stayed with Y/N. “You’re pretty.” Y/N said to Lisa, watching the blush creep onto Lisa’s face. Y/N took a liking to Lisa and thought she was so beautiful. Her head was spinning and all she was focusing on was Lisa’s eyes.
Lisa felt her heartbeat speed up. Her favourite celebrity was standing right in front of her complimenting her and she couldn’t believe it. She was starstruck. Lisa had watched Y/N’s interviews and videos and instantly had been drawn to her personality. Now she had the chance to know her due to their careers. It was thrilling. “Let’s dance.” Y/N said, dragging Lisa onto the floor that was cleared to make a dance floor. Lisa was a natural born dancer and Y/N followed her moves. Y/N was watching Lisa intently as her hips swayed to the music. Y/N grabbed Lisa’s hips and pulled her closer. “You’re hot.” Y/N whispered into Lisa’s ear. Lisa again blushed. “So are you.” She whispered back. After this, Lisa needed a drink. She left Y/N to go over to Jennie, who was getting another drink for her, Rosé, Jackson Wang and Kai. They were all chatting and drinking in the corner. “I see you’re getting cosy.” Jennie said, passing Lisa a drink. “It’s a dream Jennie. She’s so hot, it’s painful. She’s playing with my heart I swear.” Lisa laughed. She saw Y/N talking to Yeri again and she instantly got jealous. Jennie laughed. “If you stare at Yeri like that any longer she’ll burst into flames. Is Y/N gay?” Jennie asked. “I’m not sure. I’ll ask Jisoo. She keeps calling me hot so I hope so but I don’t know.” Lisa said. What if Y/N wasn’t gay?
“Jisoo unnie! I have a question for you. Is Y/N gay?”
“She is. It was always a secret and she was never happy with herself but I think she’s come to terms with it now. I’m not sure.” Jisoo said.
“Thank you.” Lisa said. She scanned the room to find Y/N. She couldn’t find her until she saw her being pressed against the wall by Yeri. Yeri whispered something in Y/N’s ear which made Y/N smile. Yeri leant into Y/N’s neck and kissed it, which made Y/N smile. Lisa’s eyes narrowed and confidence overtook her. Lisa stomped over to Y/N and Yeri and pulled Y/N’s hand. Yeri stepped back shocked but they barely had anytime to react before Lisa had pulled her away and dragged her across the room. She pressed her against the wall and her eyes were dark and narrow. “Don’t do that.” Lisa said, staring into Y/N’s eyes. “What?” Y/N asked. “Don’t tease me. You know what I’m talking about. Yeri.” “You’re jealous!” “So what if I am?” Lisa asked. Before she knew it, Y/N had leaned forward and kissed Lisa. She grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer. Lisa’s head was exploding.
The party continued and more people left. Y/N and Lisa were inseparable. Everyone was beginning to sober up by the end and at 2am, the only people left were Red Velvet, Blackpink and Y/N. They sat in the living room, which had been closed off due to the expensive couch and rug. “Thank you for a great night Y/N.” Irene said. “We better be off to bed. We have a show tomorrow night.” Irene, being the leader, made sure her members were not tired for their performances. “Goodnight guys.” Y/N said as they all left. Yeri, Irene and Seugli were in one room, and Joy and Wendy in another.
“Did you enjoy yourselves?” Y/N asked Blackpink. “It was so fun.” Rosé said. “I agree.” Lisa said. “I wonder why you found it so fun.” Jennie teased. Y/N laughed as Lisa turned red, once again. Y/N’s arm was around Lisa so Lisa turned her head into Y/N’s shoulder whilst laughing so the other members couldn’t see her bashful expression. They all laughed at how embarrassed Lisa got. “For rooms, there can be two of you in one, and three in the other, including me. Or, I can go alone and you two can share, and you two.” After much discussion, Jennie and Lisa stayed in one room, Jisoo and Rosé stayed in another and Y/N slept in her own room. They all said their goodnights before disappearing to their selective rooms. “You like her a lot don’t you?” Jennie asked Lisa as she left the bathroom, cleaning her teeth. “I do. She’s been my celebrity crush since her debut and knowing her today has just made it worse.” “She seems to like you back though, she kissed you after all.” Jennie said. Lisa smiled at the thought. “Go say goodnight to her. Turn right and three doors down is her room.” Jennie said. Lisa immediately left and followed Jennie’s instruction. Y/N’s door was open and Lisa stood at the door into her room. She had guitars lined up on the wall and a big microphone attached to the wall, with two big computers on a large desk. Her bed was huge and her duvets were white with sheep on it. Cute. Y/N was sitting at her desk with her back to the door strumming her guitar softly. Lisa knocked lightly and Y/N span around in her chair. “Hey, is everything okay?” Y/N asked. Lisa walked into her room and sat on her bed. “I just came to say goodnight, and to thank you again.” Lisa said. Y/N put her guitar back against the wall and sat next to Lisa on her bed. “It’s okay. I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Y/N said, staring into Lisa’s eyes. “It was fun. I’ve never been to a party like that before.” Lisa said.
“Like what?” Y/N laughed.
“I’m not sure, but it was different. Everyone was more relaxed. It was good.” Lisa said.
Lisa and Y/N shared a moment of silence before they leant in slowly and kissed. Y/N held the side of Lisa’s face as they deepened the kiss. “I should go sleep.” Lisa whispered once they’d pulled away. “Yeah, you should.” Y/N said. Lisa slowly moved away and walked out the door, Y/N watching her as she walked out. Lisa ran down the corridor and burst into the room she was sharing with Jennie. Jennie was laying in bed ready to sleep. Lisa jumped in beside bed and screamed into her pillow. “She kissed you didn’t she?” Jennie said. “Yes.” Lisa breathed. “Told you she liked you back.” Jennie said. Lisa just smiled as she turned off the lamp.
