Sitting here and mind-imploding cause I'm holding the knowledge that Kon and Kenan's duo name should be "Mock Suns" or "Sun Dogs" bcs it just fits them so well and also the actual real atmospheric optical phenomenon that is Mock Suns/ Parehelion/ Sun Dogs is a very nice visual metaphor of Kon and Kenan being a reflection and big fanboys of Superman/ Clark Kent.

Kon and Kenan flirt outrageously, play a lot of video games, trip over themselves and fall ass-backwards into feelings, and order some finger-lickin' good takeout, not necessarily in that order.

It’s a quiet admission, simple, between beats as the next round of Smash loads. Like it’s nothing major, like it doesn’t take Kon’s beating heart and blow it wide open. It’s gotten so easy to think no one would care if he vanished again, because—because he did disappear, and the universe rewrote itself without him and no one even remembered he was missing.

And yet here Kenan is, nonchalantly saying I missed you when you were away. Even though it was only a couple of weeks, even though no one really needs Kon around anymore, even though…

A sunny feeling squirms into his ribs and settles into his chest like a dollop of warm honey. Kon tries to keep the awe out of his voice when he finds it, tamping down his joy until it comes out sounding simply pleased. “Oh, you did?”

The match loads in. Princess Peach and Kirby run at each other, full tilt. They’ve decided to do a full roster Smash Ultimate tourney this afternoon—neither of them is allowed to play the same character twice. Just for fun.

“Yeah,” Kenan says easily. Maybe it is easy, for him. He casts a teasing grin over his shoulder at Kon, the corners of his eyes crinkling with warmth. “Needed someone’s dumb butt to kick at video games."

I dont know how much cassierose or konkenan make sense in like, a canon sense, but i like them. Cassierose is the one im the most like yea they probably wouldnt work out for the long run but itd be fun and i enjoy the messiness. Clois are one of The couples in fiction and i enjoy them but im not as personally invested? Should actually be higher on compels me but im too lazy to fix it now. Compels me but not in like a I Think About Them Actively way

I've got two KonKenan AU where the Inciting Incident is the disappearance of Kal-El but I don't like Kal being dead so everytime I think about my "Kenan as a Superhero & Kon from Not-So Destroyed Krypton" AU or "Ancient Fantasy China meets Deep Space and uncovers Political Turmoil", I get sad reminding myself Kal is kinda has to be dead....

Matthew Ifield - Ready For Love

This song made me think about KonKenan. I'm imagining Kenan processing the fact he wants his relationship with Kon to be more than friends but he is held back by the idea it could end poorly like his parents' relationship. His parents did love each other and him but it wasn't enough to save each other and their love for each other complicated things more than make living simple.

As for Kon, his return to Earth isn't as what hoped for entirely. He is glad to see his parents, friends, and Clark again but he feels the weight and consequence of being forgotten about by the Universe, Kenan brings something new and exciting and comforting to Kon and Kon appreciates Kenan so much because of that.

He has his own setback when it comes to loving again but I think his time with Lophi in Gemworld made it easier for him to cherish something new and unexpected in his life. Same thing with Kenan, but instead of a Fake Marriage in another world, it is with his found family, Justice League of China, that made him more accepting of new connections.

Side tangent: I just thought about how both Kon and Kenan left a family they built on their own (Kon with Lophi and Martha Jr.; Kenan with the JLC) and ended up in Superfamily. They got more things to bond over.

no but genuinely all those little panels and bits of them hanging out and being besties in action comics the past few months are so cute. i care them.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

holds your hands. okay i think a lot of what the recent luthor brain bomb thing did was bullshit but i AM now obsessed with the parallels between kenan being forced to leave all his friends in china and kon's entire awful situation. finding each other in loneliness... making a home and something new together... it gets me.

of course i also just don't like prime earth continuity that much, so we need to figure out a good way to steal kenan into our postcrisis sandbox and still give him and kon the mutual agonies to bond over in some way shape or form. we'll work on it.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

is "WHY ARE THERE ONLY TWO FICS IN THE TAG AND ONE OF THEM IS BY ME" an unpopular opinion. girl help i want to see more of them having feelings!!!!!!!!!

given that the cassie sandsmark/kiran singh ship tag straight up does not EXIST on ao3... i think the unpopular opinion is that they should be a bit more popular 😭😭😭😭😭
