-> I'm not sure Standing Together is the biggest Jewish-Arab organization in Israel. Before Oct 7, it claimed to have reached a peak of 5,000 members, which out of a population of almost 10 million people is pretty negligible. And when practically every organization in Israel has both Jews and Arabs, including the freaking Israeli parliament (the Knesset), it just feels... weird to think there's nothing bigger than that. Then again, maybe when we talk specifically about an organization claiming to be political and to be serving the idea of Jewish-Arab solidarity, there isn't one with more registered members. Maybe.

But for example, the vid mentions an Israeli Arab activist called Yuseph Haddad, who's the CEO of an organization called "Together - Vouch for each other" (it corresponds with Jewish tradition, as the Hebrew word choice specifically echoes the Jewish phrase, "Kol Yisrael arevim ze la'ze" - all of Israel vouch for each other), which I know has both Jewish and Arab volunteers, though it puts Arabs at the forefront. IDK how many volunteers it has, but Haddad is actually one of the most beloved activists in Israel, people recognize him everywhere, he gets his own impression on Israel's most popular satire shows (performed by one of the show's Arab cast members, who's also one of Israel's most loved and recognized comedians), he got the honor of lighting one of the torches at Israel's Independence Day torches ceremony (seriously one of the greatest honor here), and I've seen some of his work with the next generation of Israeli Arabs. I also know that "Together" has worked with Yad Vashem to make educational content about the Holocaust more accessible for Arabic speakers. I find it hard to believe "Together" has less volunteers than ST does, but I don't have official numbers on them. Still, it's probably wise to keep in mind that ST's numbers are self reported.

-> BTW, this is also a response to a lovely Nonnie asking me what alternatives there are to Standing Together. "Together" has the mission of better connecting Arabs to Israeli society. They don't look away from criticizing Israel when it's needed, they do talk about where the state needs to do better, but on the basic level, they do talk about loving and embracing Israel. The way Haddad explains it, the recognition hit him when he was at the age to decide whether to volunteer for an IDF service or not, that the enemies of Israel are willing to kill Israeli Arabs in order to get to Israeli Jews, while the army is defined as the Israel Defense Forces, not Jews' Defense Forces, that it protects all Israeli civilians, and from there his connection was born and grew, and he tries to pass it on to other Israeli Arabs, and uplift and empower those who already feel it. He won't tell you there aren't issues or racism in Israel, but he does seem to believe that a cornerstone in overcoming those, is to build on the sense of shared fate we have here. "Together" isn't the only organization working in this direction, there are many more, working in various ways, but I don't think there's another that's as recognized, respected and liked by general Israeli society)

-> To the Nonnie who asked me about "A Land for All," I'm not sure if I'm the right person to answer this question, because I know one of the founding members of this movement in real life. He's a very nice person, honestly. He's a religious settler, born into that society, where most people are right wing, and are seen as violent, racist and extremist. I think painting any sector of society with a wide brush gets things wrong. The man I know certainly is none of those things, and from what he says and how I know him, he hated being seen that way, he wanted to break away from that perception of settlers. At the same time, he does love the place where he was born, he doesn't want those Jewish communities uprooted, and he also recognizes that Jews do deserve a state of their own (as well as Palestinians). "A Land for All - Two states, one homeland" was born from this duality. It's the idea that there will be two states, Jewish and Palestinian, that will exist by each other, but they'll both be a part of one confederation (one homeland), which will allow open borders for everyone within this union. So you seemingly don't deprive either side of self-determination, while still allowing Jews to live in the Judea and Samaria settlements, that current two state solutions would uproot, or return to Gaza, or move into any part of Hevron they'd like to (currently, Jews are only allowed to live and to access about 3% of one of our 4 holiest cities), while giving Arabs the right to live inside Israel if they so choose, anywhere they want to.

I think it's a nice idea, from very well meaning people, who are actually really thrilled at the notion that maybe ironically, peace between Jews and Arabs will originate with the settlers, of all people. I still have questions and doubts. First, because I've noticed different members of ALFA have different takes on some practical questions. Some say the settlers will be Israeli citizens living on Palestinian soil within this one confederation, others say they would be Jews with Palestinian citizenship. Either option raises more questions. Who will protect these Jews living among Palestinians? If they're Israeli citizens, the responsibility would be on Israeli security forces, would they be allowed to operate freely on Palestinian soil? If they're Palestinian citizens, can the Palestinian forces be trusted with the security of these Jews? Past experience suggests... no. Before there was a State of Israel, Jews living among Arabs were attacked and killed simply for being Jewish. No one came to their aid. And when Israel in the 1990's helped set up the Palestinian security forces that serve the Palestinian Authority, some of the weapons and training Israel provided as part of a peace process which was giving the Palestinians self-rule for the first time ever, ended up being turned against Israeli Jews, used against us in terrorist attacks. But even the mere question itself leads to another one, because if we're back to asking "Will non-Jewish authorities protect their Jewish minority," then where is the self-determination we've fought so hard for, the right to protect ourselves, shape our own fate, instead of forever being dependent on the good will of non-Jews...?

You can surely think of similar questions about what would happen with Palestinians living on Israeli soil, what would their citizenship be, and what would happen if they use this freedom of access to attack Israeli Jews? And how about that confederation, how would it work? What would be its joint authority over Israeli and Palestinian citizens vs the autonomy of each state? And how would the power be divided between Jews and Arabs in representation within the joint ruling system, will it be equal no matter what the demographics become over time (making it unrepresentative, some might argue undemocratic) or will it make each side's power relative to its population size, turning one side in reality into a minority, and therefore vulnerable to the power of the other side?

My first reaction was to like the idea enough, that I started thinking about it in practical terms, and got to many of these questions, and I haven't gotten good enough practical answers from ALFA members, sometimes I didn't even get consistent answers (telling me this initiative has not been serious enough, to sit down and iron out all of the differences of view their members have on practical (not ideological!) matters. So yeah, I just... can't really join the movement, even though a part of me still likes this notion, which allows me, as a Jew, full access to every part of my ancestral homeland, not just... to the sections that haven't been occupied by Arab forces in 1948, and ethnically cleansed at that time (like East Jerusalem), or before (like Gaza and Hevron).

On top of that, when I look at who ALFA collaborates with, we're back to sketchy partners, many talk about Jewish-Arab solidarity, but don't really implement it in a way that's fair to Israelis and Jews, such as ST. Or another thing that made me groan is that I saw ALFA celebrate a column by Thomas Friedman which supported them, that's fair enough and natural enough, except they included in their celebration the part of his column calling for a unilateral recognition of the Palestinian state, something that's an anti-peace move in itself, and in this context, I sincerely don't get how this move would help promote this solution, if the Palestinians will get a state anyway, without agreeing to it existing as a part of such a confederation...

Can we please stop pretending Klaus is some Machiavellian genius?

I get the show is always trying to tell us he is a mastermind, but there are so many more clever characters who actually set up long term plans to achieve their goals (Lucien, Celeste, Katherine). What did Klaus ever do that was ever strategic or showed any superior intelligence? If anything his intelligence was severely stunted, he was a thousand years old and still acting like a teenager half the time. He made rash and impulsive decisions and they worked out sometimes. They had just as much of a chance of blowing up in his face. This doesn't make him smart. If he wasn't so indestructible, he wouldn't have been so lucky.

Throughout history, we constantly see Elijah having to remind Klaus not to draw attention to them. All he has to do is stop being a serial killer or risk bringing the one man he is terrified of to town. You would think it would be easy, yet he is unable to control himself. At no point do we see him ever preparing to confront Mikael. He only runs from him. He could have created an army to trap Mikael or befriended witches. But no, instead of coming up with a plan, they all just run. Not much of a master strategist. The fandom loves to say it was stupid that Rebekah called Mikael to New Orleans yet doesn't want to talk about how stupid it was for Kol and Klaus to go on a killing spree which they knew would attract Mikael. And he does this not once, not twice, but repeatedly in every flashback we see, all the way from the first flashback in 1001 to the last in the 1950s.

Speaking of the 1950s, what great strategic plan was it to tell Elijah he buried their siblings at sea? He isolated the one family member he had left while Mikael was hot on his trail. This turned Elijah against him and what did Klaus do? Did he come up with a masterplan? No. he ran and body jumped.

Klaus' strength isn't his intelligence but his durability and his psychical strength. Which is why he was so determined to break his curse. He needed to be stronger than everyone, including his siblings. But what did any of that get him? Tristan and Aya at least built a cult and created weapons that could even take down Originals. Yet Klaus wasn't able to come up with any plan to take down Mikael?

We see Elijah tell Klaus that Klaus 'built' New Orleans, yet we never see any indication that Klaus is politically minded. In fact, in season one, he is in charge and a war breaks out in large part due to his scheming. He is constantly killing political leaders (the mayor, the mayor's son, the witches' leaders, every faction head, etc.) and then is surprised when they can't find peace and everyone is against him.

The only time Klaus had a long term plan that actually seemed clever was the lie about the sun and the moon curse. Not only did it take them nearly a thousand years before it actually worked, but he wasn't even the reason it worked. He was tricked by Elijah and literal teenagers. Elijah tricked him to get him to MF, the MF gang tricked him into believing Bonnie was dead, and then he fell for that exact same trick and believed that Elena was dead.

Throughout the shows and even flashbacks, people act like Klaus is this great strategist. And maybe he is compared to the children he is targeting. But when you put him up against his equals (Lucien, Mikael, Dahlia, etc.), he doesn't compare.

Celeste and Genevie were manipulating Klaus left and right in season one. In the short '9' months he was in New Orleans, he destabilized it so much that Hope nearly died. She only survived because of Marcel. They only got her back because of Elijah and Hayley. In fact, Klaus' plan to bring Hope back before they were ready is what drew Dahlia back so quickly, leaving them unprepared to face her.

Klaus wasn't responsible for Mikael's first death. He got lucky that everyone else (the children he was targeting) came up with a plan to trick Mikael. Mikael's second death was simply overpowering him, no outsmarting there. In fact, Mikael would have killed Klaus if his family hadn't saved him earlier.

Yes, he 'tricked' Dahlia into believing he betrayed his family, but this wasn't a trick. He actually did betray them. He murdered Gia and turned Elijah against him once again. He is unable to scheme without actually hurting those close to him and alienating the people trying to help. He lies that he killed Aiden, again another time he just jumps on the first opportunity he sees, and by doing so, he alienates all of their allies and endangers his family. The only reason they end up beating Dahlia is because of Esther. They all would have died based on Klaus' plan. Sure his idea to curse Hayley did technically save her life but he didn't do it for that purpose, he admitted he did it to punish her. There was no long term scheme. He hadn't thought through how it would impact Hope or even what he would tell his daughter as she got older.

Then in Season 3, Lucien had Klaus on his knees before his big brother and big sister swept in to save the day. Even taking down Tristan was thanks to Cami and Freya's plan. He had to be saved from the Strix by Hayley, Marcel, and Stefan. They have their big Thanksgiving dinner where they confront the three, but all it does is show that Lucien, Tristan, and Aurora had out schemed the Mikaelsons. The only thing the Mikaelsons could do was overpower them and threaten them.

In Season 4, Klaus hardly does anything and Season 5 Klaus is an absolute mess. You're telling me this legendary strategist couldn't save his daughter and her mother from a hundred year old vampire? He couldn't figure out a way to find her? In the seven years they were forced apart, he wasn't even trying to find a way to reunite his family? He wasn't a strategist, rather he waited for events to happen and then reacted impulsively, hoping it would work out. His plans are all based on emotion and vendettas, not strategy or intelligence.

Yes, he is Machiavellian in a sense that he has nearly no empathy and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants, but he lacks the cunningness to be truly Machiavellian. Instead he is just a narcissistic psychopath.

So I work in a 2nd grade class and today I got to tell the story of Hanukkah.

The children (who are all gentiles of some sort except one lad who is Hindu) gathered around and listened, enraptured as I told them about the miracle of this little community kicking out these imperialistic invaders and preserving their victory in a story of light.

And it got me thinking about Palestine.

There have been more than a few Jews in my city lately who have used Hanukkah as propaganda for their genocide against the Palestinian people.

"The Greeks invaded our land and we heroically kicked them out! Just as the Israeli government must drive away the Palestinians from our lands!"

But... thats not actually why the Hanukkah story is important.

The Greeks had been the Hebrew people's neighbors for years and freely traded with them.

We exchanged goods and ideas and traditions.

It was only when the Greek King Antiochus IV decided that the Hebrew's lands must belong to him alone, and that the Hebrews could only live by his peoples' customs, that we rose up.

He desecrated our cities and massacred thousands of innocents.

And I guarantee if bombs and guns were around back then he would have used them relentlessly.

Yet. We fought on. Because this was our home and we would not see its fall.

And we won! A miracle of miracles that this band of shepards drove out the greatest army to yet ever live.

In today's world Israel is no longer the Maccabee resistance.

They are the Greeks.

They are funded by the most powerful militaries in the world and force all peoples in their borders (regardless of creed) to live as they demand.

And when someone has had enough, when someone says no, they attack with no regard for innocence or preservation of human life.

Because to them, Palestinian lives mean nothing.

As Hanukkah approaches this year, I am keeping the Palestinian people in my thoughts.

What would the ancient Hebrews say about the barbarism their descendants are committing against people (plenty of them Jews themselves) who only wish to live freely in the only home they have ever known?

What would they say to Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently persecuting thousands of his own people because they refuse to fight in his army and massacre their neighbors?

Ans what would they think of their holy land now? Once a beacon of hope against Greece's imperialism, now the lapdog of the west's militarily industrial war machine?

I think that they would be ashamed.

I think they would slap the Israeli soldiers across the face and spit on them.

"This is what we fought for?! We risked everything so that our children could grow to be peaceful scholars! Not dogs of war for some faraway kingdom!"

I don't pray very often and sometimes I'm not sure about my relationship with God.

But lately I pray for a new Hanukkah miracle.

One where the brave Palestinians can throw off the decades-old shackles placed on them by the Israeli government.

Where Jews, Muslims, Christians, and anyone else who calls Gaza home can create a government together where everyone is welcome.

And most importantly, where their children can grow up happy and loved, without fear of bombs or guns or soldiers.

Dom sighed happily and grinned when his lover saw him from across the yard. He'd slept in a little late but who could blame him? There was a pup growing larger in his womb every day, weighing him down and exhausting all his energy. Well… he wasn't the only pup stealing the fae's energy, his father was a menace to society at large but certainly to his pregnant mate. No matter his form he was pawing at Damhnaic day and night. His palms rubbed slow circles under his swollen belly, the babe was resting lower than usual and driving him mad but he was more thankful than he could explain for all they had together. For a runaway prince his life was turning out next to perfect, though he still had nightmares sometimes about all they'd fought through to get where they were. Kol'son dropped the ax he was using and wiped his brow before running to meet his wife at the steps of their hut. He worried about his prince every time he tried to waddle down them alone and he wondered where the bodyguard was that should have been babysitting. Of course he didn't have to ponder for long when he heard his cousin's laughter and saw the two fae stumble out of the forest.

It had been awkward for a while after they found out they were kin, less for them and more for Inga but they both knew she'd only lied so long to keep Mod safe. He was honestly surprised how much the village had warmed to him when they realized Modig wasn't mad- well wasn't just mad and high but he was magic and related to their clan mother. Before long they'd welcomed the new regime. He was finding himself more relaxed than ever before- he wasn't the only one in charge and he was getting his dick wet regularly. If not for his fear of Dom's impending delivery he couldn't fully shake he'd be ecstatic all the time.

"Don't growl. It ain't nice unless you taking me back to bed." Dom grumbled as his lover glared at their kin and he swat gently at the man's arm. He could get himself down the damn steps but he didn't mind the help, though he'd rather his daidí do exactly that, he swore he woke up hot and needy every day and it only got worse the closer they were to the day they met their whelp.

"Maybe I should eat him. I mean if he won't obey…" Kol trailed off, he was finding himself easier to anger since he first shifted but his love could always soothe his wild beast. He still didn't understand what was happening to him and he wasn't sure how to find out- but with a fae prince for a mate, a seal for a friend, and a nymph for a cousin he wasn't too shocked by the wolf he held inside himself. Well, his first night had been surprising but Dom had scratched behind his ears and held him close and eventually he'd shifted human again. The fae clan probably did like Dom a little more but he couldn't help everyone thinking he was precious. It was honestly annoying at times, he knew it was mostly that he was an incubator for… well, none of them were quite sure what the child would be, but it was a pleasant turn around from being alone so long. He and his kin were loved finally, he was loved. "What are you thinking about boy?" The Viking hummed, stepping up close behind his mate and wrapping his arms around him. The noise that escaped the siren when he gently lifted his stomach went straight to the god's cock and he couldn't stop himself from gently rutting against him. "Because if it's bed…"

Dom's lips curled in a slow smile, his fangs on sharp display as he turned his face up to his scarred and inked lover. "Mmm, you read me mind." He couldn't help thinking his mate saw Modig as more of the man between them- as he saw himself, but Damhnaic knew relationships didn't work that way all the time and truthfully the forest nymph was more like him than Tom was. He was trying to help his lover understand but… they tended to easily distract each other.

When Dom's feet touched the ground again he giggled, his husband was more handsy than he used to be, all nerves about his purity had fallen away as their breeding became visibly obvious. "Not fair of you. Come outside while I'm trying to take care of our people. Looking as you do." The Viking growled, licking his lover's throat as he untied the shift dress from his body.

"Oh? I didn't fink. You poor man. Jus' trying to do right by ya clan but 'ow can ya wiv a nymph about?" He teased, his cheeks flushing as the fabric fell away and he was left bare to his mate's heavy gaze.

🥹😭 Thank you all so much for being on this journey with me. I'd like to admit something here, I've never truly been able to finish something like this. I always get lost along the way and nervous I'll ruin it. Honestly I've never even tried writing something so structured and novel-like. It was a little weird coming back to the ark in the middle of some kind of mock invasion. At first Kol had thought shit really had hit the fan until he'd seen the aggressors had just been the camp mentors. An interesting training exercise, reminding him a little uncomfortably of his ex-army days. Something he still tried to avoid as much as anyone could after signing up for a new war.

Still he tried to get back into some form of routine, old habits died hard, and he'd always found the most peace at the stables. It was like a little slice of home, only now the horses had wings and there were other creatures around. But the tasks were still the same. Shoeing one of his favourite mares, Kol almost didn't realise he had company until the pegasus gave a snort and fidgeted more than she usually would. "Hold girl, your foot ain't gonna shoe itself."

NPC FILES: SALVATORE BOARDING SCHOOL EDITION

Brock Paxon (he/him) is both a member of the Paxon pack and a member of the Salvatore Boarding School pack. He splits his time between New Orleans and Mystic Falls. Brock is quite knowledgable about werewolf packs and the hierarchies within as a whole but he never broadcasts his knowledge. He is currently dating Wade Rivers.

Piper Barry (she/her) is a member of the very well off Barry pack as well as a member of the Salvatore Boarding School pack. Much like Brock, she splits her time between New Orleans and Mystic Falls. But if she could choose, she'd stay in New Orleans indefinitely because she's tired of having to fight for her life every other week or so.

Piper is always working to elevate her status in the pack for herself and her friends and when she's not doing that, she's busy thwarting her parents' plans of securing an alliance with the Deep Water pack through marriage. Piper is nowhere near ready to tie the knot. She is fiercely loyal to those she considers 'her people' - like her ex-boyfriend, Brutus, and her current boyfriend, Rick - and always makes sure to add some bite to her bark.

Brutus BasRoq (he/him) is the future alpha of the BasRoq pack. Though Brutus is secretly unsure whether or not he has what it takes to take up the mantle after school.

He masks his insecurity with pointed remarks. He knows to use his words to hit where it hurts. Unlike his ex-girlfriend Piper, Brutus is quite all right with his social standing. Both at school and within the Salvatore Boarding School pack.

Though he does arch his eyebrow at the fact that his alpha is dating a vampire: Brutus may not say it aloud, but he thinks that Jed is gonna get his heart broken in the long run.

Rick Rogers (he/him) is one of the last remaining members of the Rogers pack. In fact, it's just him and his dad. When Rick took his first breath, his mother took her last. Everyone else is gone too. Hunter attack. His dad was never capable of bouncing back after enduring so many losses all at once. So he took it all out on his son.

And when he could not take it anymore, Rick left. He grabbed what little belongings he had and hitchhiked his way to Mystic Falls when he heard about a school for supernaturals. To this day, he doesn't know what became of his dad and to be frank, he doesn't want to know.

Rick is a year-rounder. He's the class clown, the jokester, and will try anything once - which is why he climbed onto the broom that Alyssa Chang had enchanted once. Rick doesn't do well with emotions but he does have genuine feelings for Piper.

Trevor Poldark (he/him) is a member of the Poldark pack and the Salvatore Boarding School pack. Technically next in line to be the alpha, but he is so not feeling it. He figures that he's here for a good time, not a long time and that he'll probably get taken down by a vampire at some point so why do all that training at all? Nah! He'll abdicate. Make sure the title goes to someone who actually wants this. Trevor is quite all right with the vampires roaming the halls of the boarding school. He wouldn't consider Wade or Floribeth his friends but it's nice to have people to eat Sinigang and speak Tagalog with.

Zoe Nguyen (she/her) is the fashion forward relative of Xi, Van and Kara Nguyen. She grew up in the Ninth Ward and is a member of the Ninth Ward Coven as well as the Choral Coven as she has more patience for singing than anything else. While her best friend, Drusilla Isobel Saitou, exclusively dates witches (and is seeing Claire Blessingway, the sewing witch and leader of the Crafty Coven), Zoe is more open-minded (even though her brief flirtation with Landon got her a nose bleed, courtesy of Josie). After all, one of her relatives - Xi, a former member of Julian's Army - is a vampire too and she keeps a close eye on him because he's literally all she's got left in the world.

She misses Van, murdered by Kol, and Kara, murdered by Hayley Marshall-Kenner on Davina Claire's orders, every single day and she doesn't know how to feel about the fact that she essentially went to school with the daughter of the woman who murdered her relative on orders of Kol's wife. She does not bring her concerns up to Hope because Hope has enough on her plate already.

Aside from that, Zoe has no time for the Super Squad or the Anti Squad. She thinks their squabbles are childish but does business with them when she has to. That and the school is her home and she'll rise to defend it if she must. She's quite unsure about returning to New Orleans after graduation but Drusilla always wanted to see where Zoe grew up so there is a trip on the docket.

Lael Pastore (they/them) is a witch with a serious knack for art. Their past is shrouded in mystery and when the school isn't facing a crisis, yet another monster of the week or losing it's funding, Lael is hitting the books, trying to find out who they are and where they came from. They make it a point to try and get along with everybody because they are a year-rounder. Despite their pleasant disposition, Lael is known as something of a mad scientist within the halls of Salvatore. Which is exactly why Floribeth took to Lael so well and why Lael and Floribeth are also study buddies.

Clara Voronova (she/her) looks small and adorable but she's mighty. Or tries to be. It's not working out very well because she's basically a baby bird. Clara's got a hard time with keeping her bloodlust under control and keeping blood down. She's not the biggest fan of blood bags, either. But she dutifully drains them all even though they taste stale and gross and yucky. Floribeth looks out for Clara when she can and often shares her blood infused sweets with her. Clara likes those much more than blood bags.

Clara is the adopted daughter of Sofya Voronova, a vampire and a hired gun who sought to end Klaus Mikaelson after he killed her entire family in the sixteenth century. Sofya once worked for Lucien Castle and ended up working for Marcel Gerard after Lucien died. To this day, she is still working for and with Marcel. Though whether or not the two are still romantically involved is anyone's guess.

Sofya took Clara underneath her wing after she found her - already turned and subsequently abandoned - because she reminded Sofya of her younger sister even in her frenzied state.

Shortly after that, Clara began to see Sofya as a mother-figure and, in turn, Sofya abandoned her plans to get revenge on the Mikaelsons, choosing instead to devote her time to her daughter, finding she quite enjoyed teaching Clara the ins and outs of weaponry.

(Which is something that Derek never forgave her for. For one, brief, shining moment, he thought he might've found someone who understood his plight and who might take up arms with him against the Mikaelsons. After all, Klaus Mikaelson had ruined Sofya's life too! He couldn't, for the life of him, understand Sofya's attachment to Marcel and to Clara.)

Nathan Clark (he/him) is a vampire who thinks that Landon Kirby is the coolest dude to ever walk around the school for single-handedly killing Malivore. Or, rather, the hottest. Because he's a phoenix, get it? Nathan is quick to ask Landon how he did it. And, honestly, he wants to know every single detail because he wants to make this life of his into art. He doesn't know what medium yet. Maybe he'll write a book. Maybe he'll create a series of paintings. Or maybe he'll work on a graphic novel.

He's gotta do something to kill the time while he works to become a journalist and snag a job at WYET 9.

(This isn't new. Nathan is nosy. He's always been fixated on stories like those. They're like the comics he's always read! And he sure does love comics a lot! Nathan hasn't quite worked up the courage to ask but he does want to know how Kaleb, MG, Clara and Floribeth got turned and who turned them. Nathan doesn't realize that those stories and intimate details might be private for a reason.)

When Nathan figures out that Landon didn't actually single-handedly kill Malivore, his admiration (and crush) vanishes. But it's a good thing. That way, Nathan can treat Landon like a regular (human) being and a friend.

Nathan often joins the others when they play DND and if he's not being a huge nerd, Nathan is helping Lael with their quest to figure out who they are and where they came from. It's something Nathan can relate to. He got turned by Lee and is trying to get in touch with him to this day. You know, for an interview.

What do you think the Mikaelsons would be like if the Aurora fallout didn't happen?

I'm assuming you mean the Aurora fallout when she was human and not when she took the serum. I personally don't think it would be the fairytale a lot of Klaurora shippers want it to be. Don't get me wrong, I like Aurora's character and she did not deserve being compelled to be Rebekah for a hundred years and I also think she is one of Klaus' better ships. I also think we need more (and better than TVDU gives us) representation of mental illness in media. But I personally think people romanticize their relationship a lot. I do think Aurora is Klaus' first love and he loved her deeply, as she did him. But they were both in very bad mental places when they were together. This was only exacerbated by the vampirism. They likely would have led each other down a dark path rather than help each other out of it.

When Aurora is first turned, the vampirism makes her slightly out of control, which is not good considering the Mikaelsons had not mastered their control yet. This meant that shortly after she turns, Mikael tracks them down because of the carnage they were causing. If Elijah hadn't compelled Aurora, she would have run with them. She likely also would have wedged herself between Klaus and his siblings. This is especially true because Elijah would have likely still remembered that Klaus killed their mother and lied to them about it all of that time. The memory was behind the red door because of what Elijah did to Aurora, not because of what he discovered.

This would have created a huge rift between Finn and Klaus, likely causing Finn to do what he claimed to want to do and leave his siblings behind, potentially even seeking Mikael out to help avenge his mother. With Finn leaving, Kol would also part ways shortly after. We know this happens anyway as Kol is already on his own when the Mikaelsons encounter the Hunters.

Tristan would also have sent an army after the Mikaelsons to retrieve his sister, likely with the help of Lucien as I think he partly always believed Klaus manipulated Aurora. I personally was never a fan of how Lucien interacted with Aurora. He always acted like she was unable to think for herself so it would be easy for him to believe Klaus had manipulated Aurora and not that she rejected him. It also would give him an excuse to go after the Mikaelsons and make Klaus pay for "stealing" Aurora.

It would have been Mikael and whatever army he mustered up and Tristan/Lucien and their army chasing after the trio and Aurora. I think it would be a fascinating story and if anyone wants to write it, I would definitely read it. However, it wouldn't be positive for either Klaus or Aurora's mental health. We are told Aurora battles bipolar disorder. This mental illness, unfortunately, for the vast majority of the time cannot be handled effectively without medication. Bipolar disorder was not even diagnosed until the 1800s and it wasn't effectively treated until the mid-1900s. Because vampirism already exaggerates emotions, Aurora's battle with bipolar disorder was extreme. The symptoms of bipolar disorder are also exacerbated by stressful life events, like being on the run from your brother and your homicidal father-in-law.

Stans, and even Klaus himself, changed their tune after finding out about Klaus' first heartbreak and, instead of blaming his parents, shifted blame to Elijah for why Klaus behaves the way he does. But we have to realize that Klaus is Klaus. Vampirism and his werewolf side only heighten who he is. We see Klaus as a human get in angry, heated fights, he is still fairly self-centered (kissing Tatia without even considering her feelings), he kills his mother for lying to him before his heartbreak, he goes on a killing spree before this heartbreak. He wasn't some innocent, good-tempered person before all of the heartbreak and betrayal. He was also in a fragile mental state and it would have been easy for Aurora to convince him to leave Rebekah and Elijah behind. Klaus was clearly suffering some level of depression and likely PTSD from his childhood trauma. Aurora already thought Elijah was too obsessed with family and didn't have a positive association with family in general. To me, she would have wanted her and Klaus to be a family on their own. She even seemed to cast Rebekah aside as her friend when Klaus showed her romantic interest. She was so quick to tell Elijah she knew something about Klaus that even he didn't know. Whether intentionally or not, she would have caused a separation between the siblings. I personally think this would have been for the best for Elijah and Rebekah. They could have gone off and lived a happy life, finding love.

But Klaus and Aurora likely would have gone down a dark path. We already see them begin to right after she is turned. She, like Klaus, reveled in the gore of vampirism early on. Without Elijah or Rebekah there to even him out, Klaus may have gone off the deep end, making it easy for Mikael to find him. If Mikael had an army, it likely would not have ended well for Aurora and Klaus.

I've seen two people who were struggling with their mental illness try to make it work in real life and it unfortunately usually does not work. When you are struggling, you need someone who can support you, but if your partner is also struggling, that is too much pressure. They created a beautiful relationship in the comfort and safety of the castle but they would have struggled to support each other once life got hard on their own.

It is really sad because so many people in history suffered unnecessarily because of mental illnesses before treatments or understanding was available. Aurora's conversation with Cami gives us just a small insight on what people in her position were often forced to undergo in an attempt to "fix" them. If Aurora and Klaus had met in modern setting where treatment was available for both of them, I think they would have a beautiful relationship. It just was unfortunately the right person, wrong time.

power and glory. something that he doesn't quite believes in. especially when it comes to what his brother is doing right now. bringing an army of hybrid. hasn't they enough for him? does he really think they would leave when he likes to throw that dagger threats every chances he gets? even when kol didn't liked to be a baby sitter to the blood bag of his brother, he quite liked to have her around. at least, the dagger threat wasn't there anymore. what was sad though, was seeing her slowly succomb to her own death. why doesn't her boyfriends comes to her rescue? was she really hated that much for people to do nothing at all to protect her? he would have if the role were reversed.

coming down to the volt where the coffins were and looking through the bares, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as he tapped slowly on the door, wanting to see if she was still around and not dead dead as he would sit there, watching her as he would bring her something to eat.

" you need to eat this. i know how tiring it must be. with the draining and all that. " was it a way of saying he was sorry for what was happening to her? he hope she would understand why he isn't doing anything yet. he would rather be in full force and capacity to fight his own brother than going right now. safety is keys. right?
