The Great State of Kokomo
We have a lot of new changes coming to town lately; we have a battery plant going up on the north side, a Raising Canes going in across from Popeye's, and, most importantly of all: Brain Freeze.
Tumblr media
I don't know why this is so exciting to me. I saw it tonight on my way into work, and it was an instant purchase. Didn't even check to see if there were other colors (from perusing ebay, no, this is it).
It holds around 30 ounces (850ish ml), cost me approximately $4.75 ($7.06 AUD, 673.52¥), and is ghastly. I have no idea why anyone decided this was something they should manufacture and, subsequently, sell with their brain. The glasses come off. Why? So you can put googly eyes on the flat eyespace. The top of the head twists off, and does not seal. The straw makes a lovely whistling sound when you breathe through it. The chin makes it wobble from side to side, but if you place it on the table on the very edge, it is much firmer.
I haven't started playing Great Western Trail yet, by the way; I'm feeling pretty sluggish tonight.

For as long as anyone can remember, the Indiana city of Kokomo has been a conservative stronghold. Ronald Reagan crushed Walter Mondale in Kokomo. Bill Clinton lost twice. So did Barack Obama. The current mayor, a Republican, is running unopposed for re-election. It’s a town known for something it would prefer to forget: a Ku Klux Klan rally in 1923 that was the largest ever. Yet somehow Kokomo produced a union leader whose rhetoric is aimed at toppling the conservative and moneyed classes — a rebel who rejects the niceties of an earlier era in favor of a sharp-edged confrontation. “Billionaires in my opinion don’t have a right to exist,” says Shawn Fain, who is leading the United Automobile Workers in a multifront labor battle against the Big Three carmakers that has little precedent and is making a lot of noise. In interviews, in speeches and on social media, Mr. Fain hammers the wealthy again and again, making the cause of the union’s 150,000 autoworkers at General Motors, Ford Motor and Stellantis something much broader. “There’s a billionaire class, and there’s the rest of us,” he said at an impromptu news conference outside a Ford plant in Wayne, Mich. “We’re all expected to sit back and take the scraps and live paycheck to paycheck and scrape to get by. We’re second-class citizens.”

Large, reasonably priced 1972 mid-century modern in Kokomo, Indiana. 4bds, 5ba, and it's original with loads of character. In this home, you have no choice but to embrace the funky, especially if you blow all your money on the mortgage. $299,900. There's a lot for the money here.
Tumblr media
Double doors open to a stone wall w/a door and an open area to the right. Note the colorful brick pattern in the floor. Sort of looks like birds wearing bras.
Tumblr media
If you should choose to go to the right, you will enter this gigantic living room (living/dining combo? Great room?). The carpeting is clean and in great condition.
Tumblr media
Details of the fireplace with an asymmetrical design.
Tumblr media
And, off to the side, enter the kitchen. Another large room with a double decker island. This home has been very well cared for and preserved.
Tumblr media
Definitely an eat-in kitchen. Not only is the island large enough to sit at, but you can see the dinette space at the far end.
Tumblr media
Back to the main hall, we go left to the other side of the house.
Tumblr media
I don't know what this is. That window throws me off. Is it a dining room w/a kitchen service window? Must be.
Tumblr media
These rooms sure are big. This must be the principal bedroom with huge closets and a terrace.
Tumblr media
Plus, it has a walk-in cedar closet.
Tumblr media
This original bath has a cool orange sink.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that's got to be the dining room. Although I don't understand the layout. Note the original door bell chimes.
Tumblr media
Here's another large room. It has built-in shelves.
Tumblr media
This one has a built-in shelf, too. Looks like there may be an intercom on the wall next to the door.
Tumblr media
This bath has a nice pink laminate counter and floral sinks. Everything is so perfect. Not a stain in sight.
Tumblr media
Another cedar closet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gigantic ground floor level has a ballroom sized rec room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus, a full sized kitchen with original appliances. Love the blue laminate and blue glass cabinet doors.
Tumblr media
This is so cool- a big indoor pool with 2 slides and a diving board.
Tumblr media
Oh, look, they left a pool table, cues and balls. Nice.
Tumblr media
Will you select door #1, #2, or #3?
Tumblr media
Utility room- that looks like a central vac unit on the right.
Tumblr media
Huge garage with cabinets. Did they leave that John Deere tractor? No wonder this home has a pending sale, it's cool as hell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.97 acre lot and it has a river on the property.
