Such a rustic venue, shaded by lovely huge trees. I wanted to photograph them, take more videos. However, the #Nature Conversations were so much more important with the clients who visited us, we spoke about #conservation, about water, about soil, about composting, about so many things, that I rarely find clicking occasions. . . #Kokedamas were loved by people!!! . . There's something therapeutic about getting your hands dirty with mud and soil! I worked on a kokedama today with a syngonium plant. Syngonium plants are not just decorative, they have the ability to cleanse the air you, breathe and act as anti-pollutants. . • Kokedama Care Tips • • Brush Therapy • • Monday Morning GREEN • . We have no Monday Morning Blues anymore, because we have MONDAY MORNING GREENS!!!! . Here is to all our wonderful clients, who are owners of the 🍀 Pagoda Vine Kokedama... We have delivered several #PagodaVine #Kokedamas to clients in the month of August when they were our hot selling #Kokedama! . I created this video for you. and writing few tips that will sure help. . Mealy Bugs are common especially in this sultry, humid weather. It will further increase as winters set in. . Although all (hard) plants require this Brush Therapy, I recorded this one specifically for Pagoda Vine. . Take Note: . 1. Use a soft and firm bristled flat brush (paint brushes available at hardware stores) . 2. Using the dry brush, clean on top leaf surfaces and remove dust and grime . 3. Clean every node gently and you will notice the bugs falling off. Dispose them carefully into your compost bins* . 4. Check and brush underside of leaves, clean off all the whitish powdery stuff . 5. Pay attention to the stalks too, brush them gently. . 6. Check at the plant base whether mealy bugs have settled on the #moss, gently pull out the moss that are whitish and discard. . 7. If large areas of moss is infested (which is unlikely), then don't pull off moss, wash the Kokedama/moss under running water and repeat another time in a few days . 8. Once you feel ascertained that almost all bugs are removed, place the Kokedama back for display after watering it. . 9. Add some water based organic fertilizer to the water to improve health and immunity of your plant, particularly if your plant is over infested with bugs . 10. Repeat the procedure 15 days later if the plant is highly infested or still shows signs of mealy bugs. { *Dispose them carefully into your compost bins* - will write about this in another post soon, why it is done that way and the benefits } . . Kokedama is a ball of soil, covered with moss, on which an ornamental plant grows. The idea has its origins in Japan. Kokedama is also called poor man's bonsai. It's made of a plant placed within some soil and peat moss wrapped in a layer of sphagnum moss. It is then tied with the help of twine or rope. It was so beautiful to work on. Getting the hands dirty, molding it into a ball to get to the perfect shape and then tying it all together with twine!!! . . 🍀 Maiden Hair Ferns. . . Not for SALE. . . We see low success rate. Seems to me that it's not suitable to grow in Bangalore environs , and in a Kokedama. Although growing Maiden Hair in Kokedamas is a practiced art among Kokedama artists in other parts of the world. . . This plant is from the wild, they really grow lush , wild and all over at the plantations. We have grown up with these beauties!! . The hybrid ones (probably they are hybrid, or grown with some other methods) do grow in containers, and are sold as houseplants, I have seen them at nurseries. . . We will still keep trying at NIRVANA. Because we are so passionate about experiencing and experimenting. There is a great joy in new learning and newer challenges!! . . . . After several months of fighting, this 🍀 #Guzmania is about to bloom and burst into colours in the #Kokedama . . . Few fights are like that. First the healthy plants travelled to its station, they came damaged. Some rough hands at the transport service troubled it so much that they were broken and bruised. . . Then we decided to give them some intensive care. But few slugs were waiting to devour them as food. After a number of days we realised that the night monster is eating the plant off. A more watchful eye removed the slugs and snails and let the plants grow. . . Then the summer hot months, they didn't allow the plants to thrive. Additionally, the plants decided to hibernate. . . Now after several months, the orangish-red blooms are on its way. . . 🍀#Guzmanias are 🍀 #bromeliad variety, they are 🍀 #ephiphytes and are considered #airplants . . Guzmania in #Kokedamas is our first experience, while we have had several other #Bromeliads thriving in Kokedamas. . . . . And she popped out!!! . . Today's sunshine enabled her to bloom. The bright and beautiful orange...how conspicuous!! . . 2 months back she came home with a couple of bright flowers, in a plastic container, from a green-house. Typically, a greenhouse is a well contained system with moisture and temperature controlled. And when plants come home, they begin to behave differently. We wanted her at home, so we gave her a new habitat - a #Kokedama and wanted to observe how she will adapt. . . And she did!!! . . Then a couple of orders for #Kokedama gifting. It was a tight packed weekend, yet I felt energized by the end of all of it. Creativity overload, happy hormones overloaded!!! . Feeling so good when people opt for #natural , #sustainable gifting, and opting for #Kokedamas which is not a very common concept yet. . Change in gifting mindset really will take some time. I already see so many discussions and enquiries in several groups and pages where people are enquiring for non-sustainable, unnatural materials for gifting. . . Loads happening at #NIRVANA GARDEN!! . Including laziness and lethargy and some demotivation to click pictures!! . . These pictures posted today were clicked in a jiffy... posting them raw, no edits no cropping!! . . We had a huge mishap over the weekend. The phone prompted/suggested clearing up some redundant pictures. And something prompted my grey-cells to go ahead and do it!!! The cleaning up, decluttering mania... (I am sure I didn't read the fine print well, who reads that?? ) And I clicked YES! After particularly reading and comprehending that the 'deletion' will be permanent. . . And then!!! . Later realised that quite a few very important folders/pictures have been deleted, including few of the #Kokedama catalogue pictures. The pictures where I have spent time clicking in an organised studio, then editing them classifying and re-organising!!! Loads of work and time invested. . Phew!!! Bwaaaa!!! 😥😢😨😧 . However, smart phones are smart. Quite many pics exist in some raw format here and there. So I will be now swimming in the ocean of pictures to fish out the important ones and again classify and reorder them and organise them!!! . . Meanwhile, soil and soul work continues. . .
