Biggest accomplishment honestly is two of my nearest and dearest, one of whom has not Read For Fun in probably eight years, have started reading again because of how excited I am to tell them about books I have read.
Feels good feels organic we are having fun together even if we're not reading all of the same books.
Very much related, not to give amazon any credit or shill for them or encourage people to use/buy their stuff, but if you stopped reading for fun (or never had much fun), Kindles have OpenDyslexic as a font choice on the devices and the app as well.
#I don't know if Kobo does but Kobo doesn't have a reading app#which if you're on the fence the app is free and would let you see if OpenDyslexic helps before you spend any money#though if you do that? Wait until after xmas because the free kindle books are FLOODED with xmas shit#then you can try with free app and free book#stop b think of the children

A DEMON'S NAME UPON YOUR LIPS
It is the curse of ADHD that, at least for me, I'm always running to the next project, and then the next, chasing the new shiny thing. And that has served me well in my creative endeavors, as much as it has stymied me. But I really do think that I caught something special in my first novel, A DEMON'S NAME UPON YOUR LIPS. And thanks to how my brain works, I rarely ever promote it! Which seems unfair for how much effort I put in, alongside my friends who patiently helped me edit it.
It's a sapphic romance between a (newly minted) Duke and the demon she summons. It's a fantasy which takes place in a secondary world loosely based on Victorian-era Europe, though without any of the queerphobic, or even sexist, hatred endemic to its real-world counterpart (or even to our modern day). It's fast paced, gay as fuck, and I poured my heart and soul into it.
I'd be honored if you picked it up; it's only $5.99. About the price of a Latte.
Grab it at the following places:
itch.io (PDF, ePub, and mobi all included!)
Kobo link (ePub version)
Apple Books, Smashwords, and a few others (ePub version)
Amazon (Kindle version)
Barnes and Noble (ePub)
Synopsis below the cut:
Lucia is a succubus, a demon with the power to shape the emotions and passions of mortals. Summoned often into the world of Melodia, she takes pride in upholding her demonic contracts to the best of her abilities. She likes to think she does her job well … though a string of recent failures say otherwise.
Talia, the recently elevated Duke of Fallmire, summons Lucia for a simple reason: to pose as her wife and fulfill marital obligations to the satisfaction of Parliament. All to say, just a few weeks of walking around the estate and playing nice with the neighbors before a conveniently tragic death. Quick and easy.
But immediately, Lucia smells blood in the water. Behind closed doors, the Duke plots vengeance upon those who killed her father—and the demon wants in. Revenge, after all, is much more fun … and more lucrative, to boot.
But can Lucia predict how hard she’d fall for the Duke? (Not a chance). And can the Duke find it in her vengeful heart to love?
Spice Level: lightly described nudity, fade-to-black sex.
64,000 words.

Hey guess what.
Come on. Guess.
No? FIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE.
MY BOOK IS NOW OFFICIALLY OUT.
If you preordered the digital version on Amazon or Kobo, you should now be able to download it to the device of your choice. If you've been waiting to grab a paperback copy? THEY'RE NOW AVAILABLE AS WELL. GO HIT THAT LINK.
Regardless, it's a first book that's been self published. Mostly what I want is for folks to read it and spread the word, but if you do? PLEASE RATE/REVIEW IT. Those help so much with promotion and visibility I can't even begin to cover it. All I want is for this book to chart. Not even chart well. I'd be fine at top 50 in horror at number 50. But please, i threw a lot of work into this book- go give it a shot.
The valley is now open and waiting, cold and hungry. The investigator thinks she's prepared for the hunt ahead of her. But nothing has prepared her for the secrets drowned there a century ago.
It's time to venture into Saltbrook. Good hunting.

Sugaru Miaki's "The Town of Sakura"
The Town of Sakura (or "A Town of Fake Cherry Blossoms") is a novel by Sugaru Miaki, also known as Fafoo, writer of stories like Three Days of Happiness, Pain, Pain, Go Away, and Your Story.
A man who works as a professional faker is told about the suicide of a girl from his past, and he returns to his hometown to confirm its veracity. There, he encounters someone who's the spitting image of the girl he once knew. It all seems set to play out again - only this time, the roles are reversed.
(As you might expect, content warning for suicide as a central element and dark moments in general. Also, a translator's note: the book makes use of the dual meanings of the Japanese word "sakura." Not only does it mean "cherry blossom," it's can also refer to "fakers," specifically in senses like "paid crowd." People should hopefully get the gist, but it may help to know that usage wasn't just invented out of nothing for the story.)
I encourage you to buy the book yourself to support the author. (Rakuten Kobo) (Kinokuniya) (Amazon.co.jp)
I decided I'd post the whole story at once this time, but still split the chapters up into roughly even parts. You can start from Part 1 here. Or you can read my translation as a PDF here.

Someone send help, this is my "currently reading" pile and I'm fearful it's going to topple over if I keep going at this rate! Worst part is this isn't a complete picture of how out of control I am because I'm reading two fantasy books on my Kobo!
#books#reading#bookblr#currently reading#nightstand#bedside table#booklr#please ignore my antibiotics on top...#in my defence three of these are history related because I MAY be applying for a PhD for 2025 entry#but the rest are just the product of no self control and poor life choices#Oh and I'm not actually worried it's going to fall onto the lot candle

Italian Audio/Books/Videos Masterlist
Now that I’m at the upper A2/lower B1 level for Italian, I figured I’d compile a quick list of where I’ve found the best stuff to read and listen to.
E-Books and Audiobooks
Kobo Rakuten Italia — where I buy my ebooks. You can read them online, in the app, or download them and [redacted] to export them elsewhere. Has a monthly unlimited subscription that functions like a combo Kindle/Audible subscription.
Storytel — monthly subscription for unlimited access to audiobooks.
YouTube
Learn Italian With Lucrezia — truly the savior of anyone learning Italian. My favorite videos are her Q&As, vlogs, and “n basic phrases you need to know.” I don’t get much out of her grammar explainer videos but that’s because of who I am as a person.
NovaLectio — commentary style mini documentaries. I export them to LingQ to read before watching and it helps me parse what’s going on. Also, they upload some videos dubbed in English so you can watch both.
Vogue Italia — celebrity interviews and fashion content. About 50/50 Italian and English but obviously high production value.
ArtandtheCities — criminally underrated channel imo. 10-15 minute art history/industry videos by an art historian. Super interesting, she’s easy to understand, and has captions.
Chef Max Mariola — utter chaos but fun. A Roman chef cooking various dishes, sometimes with a guest. Gives very “your uncle is hosting Thanksgiving and forgot until yesterday” vibes but in the best way.
TV/Movies/Documentaries
RaiPlay (free!) — Italian version of PBS. Lots of documentaries and some kind of goofy soap operas/narrative shows. You can also watch live TV.
Podcasts and Radio
RaiPlay Sound — basically NPR. Also free! You can find podcasts, live radio stations, audiobooks, and even audio descriptions of movies and TV shows.
Articles
Formula 1 Italia — Formula 1 news. I’m a big Ferrari fan but they cover a lot of news/current events (as long as they can connect it to a driver). The writing is short and to the point so it’s easy to parse for beginners. And honestly the drama is better than a lot of TV shows.
Stile Arte — long, more complex articles about art and archaeology. Cannot recommend it enough if you have an interest in any of those things. There are some straightforward history articles at the B1/B2 level, and also some more creative essays that push C1.
Corriere della Sera — daily news site. I started reading the news only in Italian to keep me from doom scrolling because America is terrifying. This is just the site I have ended up using a lot. Mostly because it’s easy to navigate and they have a ton of content.

A dazzling estate haunted by an old ghost. Arthurian stained glass and a zodiac floor stained with blood. The shadowy specter of assault. And a Flyers season about to become the stuff of legend...
Becca Bamburg, local ghost blogger, is determined to get inside the haunted Slaughterbridge estate and uncover more about the spirit that has walked its halls for one hundred years. When she learns that the rundown property is being restored by the newest owners of the Philadelphia Flyers, it feels like kismet. She has a connection to the Flyers through her childhood friend, Nate Bellamy, the young generational talent that might lead the team to glory.
What she doesn’t know is that Nate sees this as his chance to finally win Becca’s affection—and that he’s enlisted the help of charming and newly-traded Dillon Fowler, a former number-one draft pick who’s learned to let go of his own dreams. Dillon, acquired to be Nate’s right-hand man, is ready to help him both on and off the ice, even while he tracks a mystery of his own.
And the deeper Becca digs into Slaughterbridge, the closer she gets to the rotten secret that haunts Slaughterbridge just like its ghost…
Lancelot in November is the latest book in Phoebe Woods’s hockey-verse, following King of Cups.
Cover by @redbelles
Available in ebook now via all major retailers - paperback coming soon. | Amazon | Apple | Barnes & Noble | Smashwords | Kobo | Fable | Vivlio

Would you give up everything you have, if it meant getting everything you want?
For Morgan Pajpjow, normalcy is perhaps a relative term. To most, moving to a new town twice a year would be a bit unusual, but that's Morgan's normal, and he's resigned to it. After all, what's the point of making new friends when it would just be wasted effort? So he keeps his head down, content to be ignored by most, and staves off the meddling and antagonism of the few who won't.
But when Morgan finds a silver branch waiting for him on his way home, normalcy abandons him. Down a disused fork in his driveway, he tumbles headfirst into the Otherworld--a land of arbitrary laws ruled by capricious fairies. A dance, a gift, or an invitation suddenly become waiting snares, eager to bind him into servitude. Now, far from home, Morgan will have to learn how to embrace vulnerability and ask for others' help, or face being stranded in the Otherworld forever.

So since April is apparently Indie Promo Month, let's try this again.

🫀cover reveal🫀
Oh no! My bookshelf fell over and the cover for That Devil, Ambition was revealed!
It's here! The cover for my next standalone young adult fantasy - That Devil, Ambition - from HarperCollins is here, and it's gorgeous!
I have been obsessed with this cover since the original concept crossed my desk. It's foreboding, moody, and a little suspicious. I feel so lucky to have the team at Harper in my corner for this ambitious book.
From Fabian (my boy! it's my terrible boy!) peering through the stacks to the cracked glasses, there's just so much on this cover that makes me smile. It's perfect.
I hope y'all love it as much as I do and go look at Colin's other work. He's done some of my favorite covers.

From Lambda Literary Award finalist Linsey Miller comes this thrilling stand-alone fantasy about the lengths we'll go to get ahead—an incredibly fresh, twisty love letter to dark academia...with a body count. Perfect for fans of A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid, Gallant by V. E. Schwab, and All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and C. L. Herman. There is only one school worth graduating from, and it creates as many magicians as it does graves… First in his class and last in his noble line, Fabian Galloway’s only hope of a good future is passing his elite school's honors class. It’s only offered to the best thirteen students, and those students have a single assignment: kill their professor. If they succeed, their student debt is forgiven. However, if an assassination attempt fails or the professor is alive at the end of the year, the students’ lives are forfeit. And dealing with the professor, a devil summoned solely to kill or be killed, is no easy task. Fabian isn't worried, though. He trusts his best friends—softhearted math genius Credence and absent-minded but insightful Euphemia—to help. After all, that’s why he befriended them. As the months pass and their professor remains impossibly alive, the trio must use every asset they have to survive. Or else failure will be on their academic records—and their tombstones—forever.

✨ A Spark of Magic Pre-Orders Are Now Live ✨
A Spark of Magic is one step closer to being yours. You can pre-order the ebook from most retailers here! (Note: Amazon's link will only be available on release day. I apologise for the inconvenience) Paperback pre-orders coming soon.
Since I can't do any pre-order campaign with physical goodies due to my geographical location, I decided to lower the ebook's price to half of what it will be after release, so if you pre-order now, you can get it for $1.99 (US)/1,99€/£1.99. I'll keep this price for a week after the release so that people who tend to get ebooks from Amazon can still enjoy this little bonus. I hope you can understand and take advantage of this deal 💛
Check the section below for FAQs such as whether it'll be on KU, ARC readers and other things. If you have any questions not featured below, feel free to send them my way!
Q: Why pre-order?
A: Pre-orders are a great way to help authors. Whenever you pre-order a book, you're letting that retailer know there's interest in it which helps it chart higher in retailer charts (generally speaking). This means there's a potential for it to reach more people who otherwise might miss it.
Q: Will this book be available on KU?
A: Since I'm opting for a wide release, and due to KU's exclusivity nature, I can't offer my ebooks through there while having them available elsewhere.
Q: Will this book be available on Kobo Plus?
A: Yes, it will! In case you don't know what Kobo Plus is, it's a similar subscription program to KU, except it doesn't require authors to be exclusive to the platform. This program isn't available in every country, but you can check here if your country has it. They're also adding new territories often, so keep that in mind.
Q: When will paperbacks be available for pre-order?
A: I wish I could have a concrete date, but I don't. There's a chance the paperback release will have to be postponed a week or two, but I'll keep you informed. If you're unsure which you should order, wait until I show you what the paperback looks like so you can make your choice!
Q: Will you have ARC reviewers for this release?
A: I will only have eARC reviewers available, and you can sign up for it here if you're interested! All the information is there, but if you have extra questions/concerns feel free to reach out and I'll reply as soon as I can.
Thank you so much for reading this far! I'll try to keep this post updated, so I'll probably reblog it whenever I add new information!
