I just finished some dishcloths! I had 3.5 of them finished for more than a year, but I finally finished the last one today. They’re 100% cotton, and I’ve made them before. They’re very easy and functional, so I would recommend making them, especially for new knitters to get practice.
Here’s the pattern I used, but there’s lots of similar ones out there. Just make sure to use cotton yarn so that they’re be good dish cloths.

My Fifth Sunshine Dishcloth
Tumblr media
This is my fifth Sunshine Dishcloth. It's designed by Mama in a Stitch.
I used size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) needles. I used Liki Sugar n'Cream Yarn in Hot Orange as the Main Color, and Lily Sugar n'Cream Cream yarn in the Lava Ombre for the stripe.

being a knitter/crocheter with a grudge against family members (it's justified. they are snobby, classist, have absolutely zero filter in a very negative way and will sidestep apologizing if you call them on it) is like. okay yep. you're getting a cardigan, you're getting a piece of wall art and some scrunchies. you're getting scrunchies and slippers, you're getting a very intricately designed hat or a pair of colorwork socks, and you? you are getting dishcloths in colors I choose. no heirloom blanket, pillow covers, ornaments or sweaters for you fuckers.

The hedonism! Finishing a dishcloth on a Saturday instead of really working.

The path I've decided to take is to do a marathon through all my patterns, knit them up, take new pictures for them, fix up and adjust the patterns and then release them as I intend them to be on Ravelry! There are going to be a lot of hiccups along the way but it's what I'm willing to do to recover my job after I took that hit from Etsy.
Tumblr media
I started with this set of dishcloths right here. They are made only using knit and purl stitches to make these pictures I've designed so they're very easy and not very big. I made these back in 2017 and made them a set on etsy in 2023 and now the set is an ebook on my Ravelry store! They're also available for sale individually for $2. There haven't been many takers for these over the years even though I enjoy the dynamics of each of them so maybe they just haven't found their crowd yet
I can see these being good for friend groups of creative people or as a gift to arts teachers or a gift to yourself as a dishcloth or face cloth
Tumblr media
And I swore that I wouldn't put too much work into my patterns as I'm doing this marathon buuuut I had a vision for a matching bonus cloth that would work as an accent to the other busier patterns if someone were to make them as a set so I went ahead and made it and added it as an exclusive to the ebook
Pattern Credits: The Actor's Cloth, The Artist's Cloth, The Crafter's Cloth, The Dancer's Cloth, and The Musician's Cloth available on their own but also as a set sold as an ebook

I love texting my friends at times where no sane person should be awake, before promptly falling asleep, only to wake up to a series of messages going
"why?"

I made some Mardi Gras dishcloths for my bf who used to live near New Orleans. I might not have otherwise chosen the colors, but I think they came out kinda cool. I carried the colors I wasn’t using along the side, and it ended up working well.

A Finished Object!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's been a long time since I posted a finished object.
I just finished a Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth. I used Lily Sugar n' Cream 100% Cotton yarn in the Coral Sea Ombre. The pooling reminds me of the ocean when the sun sets, you see blues from the water and oranges from the sunset. I used size U.S. 8 (5.0 mm) Takimi Cloverleaf Bamboo needles.
I love my Takumis.

Tumblr media
i always struggle with making them even sizes. i usually aim for 40 stitches but i tend to forget to count and go over by a couple rows

It may have taken me 6 hours, but I made my first dishcloth 😊
Tumblr media
Still messy, still just cheap acrylic yarn I had laying around. But I could tell I was getting a little faster at the end! The pattern I found looks almost exactly like the pattern my great grandma used, too
