i really liked dark knights of steel but bruce being clark’s half brother really threw me off. like i know that it was supposed to be medieval and stuff so it didn’t rlly matter if ‘batman’ had powers but it feels like it goes against his character??

like he’s literally supposed to be this unnaturally powerful person DESPITE not having powers amongst all these god like beings of creation and strength. that’s what makes him stand out and what makes him ten times scarier!!

i also didn’t rlly like how the robins were written :( i hate hate HATEEEEE when they’re written to be his employees. its such a watered down version of their purpose but wtv nothings perfect.

Continuing to work on editing Febuwhump fills. We are of the personal opinion that one of the objectively funniest ways to depict the Little Ghost is "this thing is like four hundred years old and is fully capable of acting maturely and with appropriate amounts of emotional control however it realized at like age seventy-six that unless it either went into great effort to make a specific reputation for itself or allowed itself to abandon its current size for something greater it still wouldn't be taken seriously and would be endlessly taken as a child and rather than become a size that might inhibit its ability to wiggle into every tiny gap that catches its fancy or spend a few decades being a world-famous fencer or whatever it instead opted to just not do all of that maturity stuff and simply benefit from being perceived as a child"

Yes, they've seen the rise and fall of kingdoms. Yes, they're functionally a demigod and possess a great deal of traits and capacities beyond the realm of mortal bugs, Yes, they are centuries old and have no need to eat or breathe or sleep. Yes, they are an adult. They will still act remarkably like an eight year old in many situations because they don't like having to do all those things they need to do to be taken seriously and this bites them in the ass more than they care to admit.

Overall scratched my itch for the classic MK dynamic, even if the plot/art was a bit confusing at times (might help if I knew more about Galactus and the Silver Surfer).

Adaptations being unfaithful to the source material, especially long after it was first relevant, isn't inherently some great violence done to the text nor a perversion of some pure and noble goal of the original

Sometimes an adaptation of an older work will work with themes that are more contemporarily significant to its current audience, and that's not necessarily a bad thing

It can be very disappointing to ardent fans of the original work who expect to see what they love on the screen/stage/whatever in the adaptation, not only because they now might be privy to what is a completely different story, but also, because this was kind of totally the work's one shot at getting a brand new TV show/movie/stageplay/whatever any time soon, and so this is what experts call a "turbo bummer :("

Some works don't need to be derivative, but wouldn't be made in a certain media landscape if they weren't, so it's better for the story to be told and vaguely connected to a previous IP than to not be allowed to be told in the medium at all.

Ultimately the mark of whether a work of adaptation is good or not rests with its quality as its own story, and if it fucks, well sorry people who dislike it bc it's not the original, but it fucks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All of this does not mean I would not be mad if some adaptation team used MY writing to build their own new story on top of in my lifetime because I already did it perfect the first time thank you very much ;)

Why do you call DM Mephisto?

Thats his name in the old english translations!

I grew up with Saint Seiya and also I had A LOT of overseas friends (namely other Japanese kids and Brazilians) and they also referred to him as Mephisto so it sorta stuck in my brain as "this is his name"

Also 'Deathmask' is a lazy and silly name that is extremely on the nose (cause he puts the faces of dead people on his temple walls haha get it death mask) and I think if the series committed to calling him Mephisto it would not only fit with his over the top goofy villain personality in the main series BUT it would've been a super cool reversal thing if the evil villain character named Mephisto (after the demon Mephistophilies who served under Lucifer that was not a corruptor nor evil but simply collects the souls of the damned and was trapped in hell due to serving Lucifer) who trapped souls in the walls and served the Usurper to Athena (Ares/evil Saga) eventually goes through the Hades/Saintia Sho/Soul of Gold arcs where he breaks free from the personal hell he trapped himself in and became a Gold Saint worthy of his armor, a protector of all life and someone Athena would be proud of

But thats just my two cents
