new OC that came to me in a vision... she's from the same setting as prince larkspur and dor!
- her name is elka, she's a mercenary Or Something. traveller with a sword, happy to sleep in a hay loft
- she/her pronouns exclusively preferred, but will respond to anything with a shrug as long as it's not malicious
- used to be a nice, polite, pretty prince with good posture. enjoyed none of that
- either aroace or not particularly interested in pursuing intimate relationships, the distinction doesn't matter. likes to keep her friendships fleeting and cool - either because she never stays in one place for long, or to keep her past secret, who's to say
- extremely carefree vibe, but watch out!! she's actually pretty good with the sword and a dozen other types of weaponry

I need your opinion how do you think things would have turned out if Rhea kept the baby told Jeralt to kick rocks and let herself be more open with her feelings to Seteth and Flayn?
It depends anon, do you want a silly answer, a serious answer or a "serious but working within the boudaries of the script" answer?
Like, imagine bby!Billy grew up like Sitri, and then, when they turn 15, they see a loli gremlin in their head.
Serious answer that breaks the game in two : Billy immediately tells Rhea about the apparition in their head, Rhea and Sothis connect 1+1=2 and, well, either the plot is averted (idk, can Sothis pinpoint mole people around?) or Rhea realises her mom's worth moldy peanuts way earlier than she does in SS, or much like what happens in Nopes, Sothis remembers about her fam without plot convenient amnesia...
If incomplete!Sothis (but gradually recovering her memories) is around, I can see Rhea being a bit more open with Seteth and Flayn when she wakes up because, hey, Sothis' back, so the world is supposed to return on the right tracks now and the world will be fine and dandy.
Serious answer that has to work with Fodlan's writing and inability to cook something for more than 10 minutes : Billy for some reason never tells Rhea about Sothis, and yet, given how Sothis has time to recover her memories I guess Billy'd come to understand everything about relics, the nabateans and maybe they'll ask Rhea about their creation -> it ends like it does in the first situation, Rhea learns about Sothis either being incomplete or taking time to wake up, is more or less chill with it, opens a bit to her bro (?) and waits until Sothis feels ready to take Fodlan's reins or guide some humans if she feels like it (or, according to Nopes, I guess she could also become a bit pissed and insist on recovering her fallen kids, which might piss Faerghus a bit and all).
---
For all those answers though, bby!Billy grows to become Billy without any major changes, save that maybe they can emote was faster than they do in canon and are, bar some oddities, someone as "normal" as Sitri was, hell maybe they developed friends in the Monastery and the Officers Academy, or graduated, or became a Cardinal, or a nun, etc etc...
Still, we know canon-wise Billy is very protective towards the ones they see as family or close ones, so in a serious setting, I guess, they'll lose patience or have more of a reaction than TV static when some people will start to cry fraudulously about crests creating nobility or the CoS creating racism, or crests being the reason why everything is BaD (tm) in the world.
Fraud trying to sell some "I wonder what the world would look like without Rhea" would either be meet with a punch in the face, or at least, a serious frown - and depending on how many bedtime stories Rhea told them about "Great Emperor Wilhelm's Heroic Fight against the Forces of Evil", they might be a bit annoyed at the Hresvelgs.
For Rhea though, I suppose she'd have welcomed a new addition to the family - Billy is, regardless of them being Sothis' souljar or not, Billy, someone she cares and values as their own individual, let them be some asleep!Sothis or, just, Sitri and Jeralt's kid.
Add to the mix maybe 20 years of raising them? They'd be family and maybe help her open a bit more to the world and her family, even if she's ashamed or having worked on the res Sothis project
(I'd like some scene where Billy's annoyed when Rhea apologises for trying to resurrect Sothis, because regardless of her endgoals and what not, she still is the reason why they, and Sitri, are alive, so if she apologises for trying to res Sothis it's also as if she apologises for giving them life, which is something a Billy who was raised with a higher sense of self than being a mere sword might not find pleasant).

My Tav, Dahlia, has been living rent free in my head for weeks now so I decided to draw her as a mind flayer. I like in-game Tavflayer but I still wanted to make my own design for Dahlia. Next I want to draw her in her Tiefling form. I love my girl so much ❤️

The Knight and Her Emperor - Review
This manga features a female knight, Pollyanna, who is sent to the military by her parents to fight despite her gender. As she displays her hard work and talent, she becomes increasingly renowned as a fighter, until she meets an aspiring emperor whose goals she admires.
Tumblr media
The Basic Premise: As a female knight, Pollyanna faces much discrimination and opposition in her journey despite her outstanding talent. When she meets a soon-to-be king, Lucius, she's struck by his conviction and ambitions and swears her loyalty to him. It's a long slow-burn story that tackles gender discrimination and a more realistic look at medieval fantasy.
My Review: I enjoyed this, but it's definitely not for readers who want an escapist fantasy. One thing I was particularly impressed with was the author's handling of the female characters - they give them realistic personalities and nuances, and the realities of their lives as women in a male-dominated world aren't pushed aside or ignored. In particular, Lucius, Pollyanna's love interest, takes concubines as part of his ascension and need for heirs; these concubines are fleshed out as their own characters, and there isn't any jealousy or scheming drama. Pollyanna, too, was refreshingly realistic. Her view of herself as a "woman" and as a potential romantic interest for Lucius are both very much shaped by her pragmatic personality and masculine presentation, and those don't change just because she falls in love. This manhwa seems to focus more on nuanced portrayals of romance and women's positions in this medieval European setting than entertainment fantasy, and that was something I really enjoyed about it as a whole.
Overall: Give this a try if you're interested in very slow-burn romance that falls on the more realistic side as opposed to flashier fantasy. While some elements felt a a little rushed or confusing, overall this manhwa offers a more realistic and down-to-earth portrayal of women in this kind of era that was refreshing to see.

Wait does the Owl House involve knights and murder and shit? Or is that offscreen stuff that fandom likes like with Psii and the other Homestuck ancestors?
i'm thrilled to report that the knights and murder and shit are The Main Storyline in the owl house, although that's mainly s2. s1 is more lightheartedly about being a bright-eyed human going to magic monster school, battling demon hunters, being a 45-year-old alcoholic loser burnout who digs thru trash piles, and running from the fascist government.

Emperor and the Female Knight (2019-2023) - :)
Tumblr media
There have been times, when I have been reading manhwa and it has a gender nonconforming element to the story, when what they really mean is that author wrote a shounen ai story and then slapped some tits on the "female" lead in a few panels and called it a day. Why they would do this instead of call a story what it is could be for a lot of different reasons, but it's never been my cup of tea because it doesn't ring true. This story is nothing like that.
Pauliana has been fighting all her life even before she met Lucius, the king of an enemy country. Talented in battle, with a strong will and natural charisma, Paul forges ahead in the only manner she knows how. Lucius is a visionary leader who sees Paul's worth and accepts her as his vassal. This story is more about the long partnership they forge as Lucius goes from king to emperor and stabilizes his new kingdom. The political and personal journeys they go on make sense in the context of the story and knowing their respective histories. As the story move towards Lucius finally acting on the feelings he develops for Paul, it feels natural.
I wish more manhwa would embrace female leads like Paul. Women with real flaws, not cosmetic ones. Women with real bodies, be they muscly or rounded and not just so they can be glowed up ten chapters in. Women who are attractive because of more than their facial symmetry or long hair. While I can't say this story was what I look for in a romance, it was a truly fantastic story with compelling and consistent characters. I hope more people find their way to it.
