Femme fatale the film thoughts

Ok so the girls on KNFW assigned homework a few weeks ago for us to watch femme fatale and i did because im a loyal fan anyways i watched it with a close friend and we both thought it was TRASH!!!! Shit garbage nonsense ! Anyways they finally got around to discussing it on KNFW and Theda's thoughts really turned my perspective around on it... here is a synopsis of the plot if you havent seen it to save me some time i just randomly thought of this while reading acclaimed FURRY VISUAL NOVEL ECHO!!!!

Ok anyways. our biggest gripe with the movie was that the main character Laure wakes up towards the end of the movie and the last idk 45 minutes or so were all a dream like a prophetic vision of her future where she dies badly and then once she wakes up she takes a different path. The movie has no magic or otherwordly anything and it just felt very strange. The movie itself is already a weird wild ride with a lot of plot holes but its a brian de palma film and i think his thing is like weirdness in his movies but the weirdness is consistent. And it was consistent and kind of silly like its in its own consistent adjacent world. Ok. So anyways what was i saying. Ok so we were mad about the prophetic dream but Theda interpreted it differently, she said it wasnt so much a prophetic dream as it was a character seeing herself in the movie that shes in and being able to change her fate. Like the movie is called femme fatale, shes a 2 dimensional trope of a person, essentially destined to fail due to her evil nature. When she wakes up in the bathtub the second time, she has a chance to change her evil ways and save her doppleganger and herself. And its like a love letter to the femme fatale character trope. And i fucking love it and i cant get it out of my head. The director saved the character because he loves her. How fucking crazy is that. All this to say i feel very inspired by this wild fourth wall breaking and i am so surprised at how much i love it considering i thought the film was shit from a butt on first watch. Ok.
