I would love to know more about the "Tommy should be used to disappointment by now (8x06 coda)" WIP, please!

this is mostly tommy & maddie (so far) set after 8x06

“How’ve you been holding up, Tommy?” Tommy blinks at her. “How have I been holding up?” he echoes.  Maddie nods at his choice of outfit for the night: she sweeps her eyes down from his rumpled flannel to his stained gray sweatpants and hole-y socks.  Tommy walks over to the couch, picks up the remote and mutes the TV. He tucks the bread into the crook of his elbow so he doesn’t drop it. “I’ve had better weeks,” he mutters, without any of his usual biting sarcasm.  Maddie sighs. Jee-Yun squirms in her arms and she sets her down, leaning in to whisper something in the little girl’s ear that brings out a gummy smile. Maddie ruffles her daughter’s hair before turning her sights back on Tommy.  He feels like a deer caught in her headlights. He wonders if she’s going to gun it and turn him into roadkill, or swerve to avoid him. He wonders which he’d prefer right about now.  Something must pass over his face because she takes Jee-Yun’s chubby little hand in hers and they both approach Tommy carefully, like he’s a cornered dog. He’s not so sure he likes that.

That Lou interview was so good! And seems like Ryan and Lou vibed more than Lou and Oliver. (but also, ugh at the interviewer asking about Buddie)

yeah it was genuinely good. at least most of the questions were. and we can’t expect any buddie shipper to not ask lou about buddie because that’s just the most important part of the show and his character’s story obviously.

and i’m not surprised he and ryan got along better, i knew it from the second i saw those 7x04 stills and the interviews lou gave right after.

I made the mistake of engaging with a grand total of *one* Tommy anti on ABC's post teasing the premiere today - knew it was a bad idea going in but said fuck it - and have so many regrets now. I'm ignoring all the other replies now - they can keep fighting in the comments section.

yeah, you gotta be careful about it cuz they blow up your notifications real fast... made the mistake before, but i just blocked all of them lmao

this time around i just reported the ones being homophobic... yk i said this before and i will say it again; anytime this behaviour (that isn't okay here either so don't get it twisted) escapes fandom spaces and enters official platforms, being a buddie shipper makes me feel like i stepped in shit.

i got an anon yesterday and i didn't wanna invite drama, so i didn't answer it but yeah, it does make me ship it less because just thinking that i'd agree with these people on anything makes me feel icky...

he loves buck and bi buck, obviously. he loves that people love the on screen relationships and friendships. but does he care about the ships personally happening? probably not.

Only really know Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly Goldberg because I've only seen her in The Goldbergs (plus a few minor roles in older movies and TV shows prior to that show) so I have a huge "her whole everything is throwing me off" in St. Denis Medical problem. It's so jarring! Love her character but it's definitely taking some time to adjust.

awww i only ever watched the goldbergs casually (back when i used to work at a place with a tv in the breakroom) but that's where i know her from as well!

there is definitely a larger than life aspect with joyce that takes some getting used to for me too, but i so far i feel like it's worth the adjustment <3
