I am not a doctor and none of this is medical advice
There's lots of great information on this website for intersex people who are more on the feminine side of the sex spectrum, but what about those who were assigned to the more masculine experience? Here's a few signs that you might be intersex:
Body talk below the break
- testes that fail to descend in your teens
- penis significantly smaller than others in your age group
- urinating from somewhere besides the tip of your penis, or having to sit down to pee
- Development of "incorrect" secondary sexual characteristics at puberty (for example breasts or large or puffy areolas)
- significant difficulty conceiving a child or infertility
- unexplained significant scarring on your genitals
- mysterious doctor examinations and/or use of medical creams at a young age
- significant difficulty growing facial hair compared to other men in your family
This list isn't exhaustive, and none of these necessarily mean that you're intersex, but they may be a sign that you want to talk with your doctor, your parents, requisition medical records or explore more.
Ultimately nobody else can determine if the label intersex belongs to you. That's something you need to determine through self reflection, introspection, guidance and community.

Can someone with XXY grow a full beard:grow a beard naturally
I don't really know much about XXY, but a cursory search shows some facial hair growth is possible. If anyone reading this knows more, please chime in.
But in general, there's a lot of variation within intersex variations. Sometimes things are just impossible (ie when you don't have a certain organ to do a certain thing), but when it involves low/high levels of a certain hormone, that low/high is gonna be different for each individual. And for some variations, that difference is huge.
If this ask has anything to do with questioning what variation you may have, InterAct Advocates has a good glossary of intersex variations. If it isn't XXY, it might be another variation on that list.

Normally, Calico cats should only be female, however one in three thousand Calico cats are actually male. This is because they have Klinefelter Syndrome, an intersex genetic condition. In cats, colour is stored on the x chromosome, a three coloured Calico has to have 2 X chromosomes, plus white. Males usually only have one X, unless they have Klinefelter Syndrome, where you have two X's and one Y.
Furries are quick to point out that male Calico cat fursonas wouldn't exist, but they actually would, they'd just be rare. Klinefelter Syndrome also occurs in humans of course. (I know this first hand.)
Therefore I propose: Calico Catboys COULD be real, despite what the furry meme says, however if they followed the human characteristics of Klinefelter Syndrome, they would be taller than average, usually over 6 feet, have a feminine weight distribution, including some limited breast growth, have a feminine hair/fur growth pattern, and have around a 20% chance of being autistic.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

🌻🪻 warrior cats intersex headcanons
inspired by @intertrek 's post of star trek intersex headcanons, here are some of my warrior cats intersex headcanons (or semi-canon intersex characters). i'm basing them off certain intersex variations that have been reported in domestic cats, but it was hard to find info on that, so apologies if i get anything wrong!
-> 🌻🪻 squirrelstar
ID: Two images of Squirrelstar from Warrior Cats against the Phox and Carpenter intersex flags. She's a ginger she-cat with a white paw and green eyes. /End ID
squirrelstar was intended to be infertile by the writers, but they never made it canon in the books, though it was a popular headcanon in the fandom for a while. still, i would have liked that to be true, as there are few if any infertile cats in the books.
keeping this in mind, i think she has some sort of uterine dysgenesis, so she would either be unable to have kits or have a much a harder time. it's not super common in cats and is also comorbid with kidney problems, but not always! i think it could explain her fertility problems and would be nice to see represented on screen, since infertility and intersexness can be very difficult topics to process, specially for women.
-> 🌻🪻redtail
ID: Two images of Redtail from Warrior Cats against the Phox and Carpenter intersex flags. He's a tortoiseshell tom with yellow eyes. /End ID
redtail is almost canonically intersex. tortoiseshell and calico cats are almost all "female" because of how the genes for this fur pattern are passed down through the X chromossome, however, they can be "male" if they have two X chromosomes and a Y chromosome, thus being XXY. this is equivalent to klinefelter syndrome in humans, however im not sure it affects cats the same way. this would mean he's infertile, though, and he's supposedly had kits before, so...
i wanted to post this mostly because i love redtail and because the fandom kind of ignores the existence of intersex people in favor of a trans headcanon- and listen, as a trans intersex person, i don't mind this, but we can have both!
-> 🌻🪻sol
ID: Two images of Sol from Warrior Cats against the Phox and Carpenter intersex flags. He's a calico tom with pale yellow eyes. /End ID
sol is just like redtail- as a "male" calico cat- or tortoiseshell, I'm pretty confused which one he is -he would have XXY chromossomes! as far as i know, he doesn't have any litter of kits canonically, so this doesn't interfere much with the canon, unlike redtail.
i also see many trans headcanons for sol and few intersex ones, so once again: we can have both.
-> 🌻🪻scourge
ID: Two images of Scourge from Warrior Cats against the Phox and Carpenter intersex flags. He's a black tom with a white paw and blue eyes. /End ID
scourge is funny for me because it's a pretty new headcanon. he's a very small cat, hence why his kittypet name was tiny, and in humans, many hormonal, gonadal or chromosomal variations come with shorter height or stunned development as a symptom/trait. in cats, i can find some evidence of this happening, though very little. one case i found, however, was of a cat with a chromosomal variation very similar to De La Chapelle Syndrome, who was smaller than average and had a mostly "female" appearance. of course, cats can just be small, just like humans are short sometimes, but i'm here to have fun, ok?
i also think scourge being intersex would be fun since he's a villain, and to be honest, not all intersex characters need to be good guys, we can have some evil in the mix. makes it fun! and since he's kind of related to squirrelstar, and in my headcanon she's also intersex, maybe there's a genetic variation that runs in the family, through jake!
-> 🌻🪻moonpaw
ID: Two images of Moonpaw from Warrior Cats against the Phox and Carpenter intersex flags. She's a ginger and black tortoiseshell and chimera she-cat. /End ID
sorry for the picture, only "official art" available. anyways, moonpaw is a chimera cat! this means she has two distinct sets of DNA, this is usually caused by embryos fusing. as i understand, most chimeras are intersex (don't want to say all because im not sure about this, so sorry), usually with a chromosomal variation, though others may occur. so much like redtail and sol, she is almost canonically intersex!
not much is known about her yet, but i think we need to show more love to intersex women, so any intersex woman rep is welcome to me (if well done). she's a newer character, so it would be neat if the authors took this chance to make it canon, but i doubt it, and i also doubt they'd do a good job...
-> well, that's all of them. i liked making this, i honestly want to make more but unsure what characters to do next. if you have your own headcanons, please share! 💛💜

Small Question from a Perisex Writer!
Hi! This is kind of a specific question, but I'm writing a series with a protagonist with Klinefelter's. It's not the central part of his character, and I'm trying not to delve into aspects of intersexual identity that I'm just plain unqualified to claim authority in. He's just an intersex guy facing cosmic horrors and trying to get better.
But also he's one half of a romantic pairing, and in the next book of my series their relationship gains a sort of level comfort. Up until now he's been pretty malnourished and sick, but in this book he's gained weight and essentially fully recovered. He's got a bit of a tummy and he's a happy dude before the next part of the plot happens. And so I would love to know what members of the intersex community would love to see romanticized in a stable relationship involving an intersex person.
They're both ace (pretty much all of the main cast is) and the guy specifically is sex-repulsed (but with a high sensual attraction). He presents in a way some would consider femme, with flowy dresses and long hair, but he's also pretty feral and usually barefoot and wild-eyed. The dresses are more of a sensory thing for him. I've done a lot of research into Klinefelter's, mainly the health issues that might come out of it, but also the general body type seen in the variation. But like I'm definitely not looking to exploit any of my character's bodies just for the novelty of it. That's trash.
But yeah any help or insight would be really appreciated! As I said, the story isn't about him being intersex, but I'd still really value creating a nurturing love that intersex people can enjoy.

Not sure where to start. There is a greater than zero chance that I may be intersex. Feeling too old for an identity crisis. Keeping an open mind. Feeling frustrated that almost all intersex resources are tailored for folks who's bodies and assumed biology are very different from mine. I am hopeful that I can find some community here. I am hopeful that my musings and exploration might some day turn up in the Google search of someone who has recently returned from a doctor's appointment with the same questions I had.

4 Ways a Male Cat Can Be Tricolor
The X chromosome in cats determine their fur color. This gene has two alleles, one for orange fur (XB) and one for black fur (Xb). Females carry two X's and males carry one X, allowing female cats to have two colors while restricting male cats to one. Therefore, it is extremely rare for calico males to exist!
Klinefelter Syndrome (XXY)
Male cats with an extra chromosome (X)
Allows for the expression of both orange and black pigments
Infertile
Extra X chromosome interferes with sperm production
Chimerism
Two embryos fuse together early in development, leading to a single individual with cells from both embryos
Allows for tricolor pattern in males
Sometimes fertile (depends on if the combination affected the reproductive organs)
Only one of their colors will be passed on to offspring
Mosaicism
Individual cat has two or more genetically different types of cells within their body
XXY cells and XY cells found in the body
Sometimes fertile
Only one of their colors will be passed on to offspring
Birthmark
Might be a patch of a different color or shade on the skin or fur
Does not result in a true tricolor pattern, but still causes variations in fur color
Fertile
Birthmark color does not affect offspring color

I was diagnosed with Klinefelter syndrome awhile back. My doctor explained to me that my chromosomes are different and KF is the cause of my gynecomastia and stuff like that. He also said it is not intersex and this is a misconception. Who is right? Am I intersex?
Hi anon,
So the intersex community absolutely does consider Klinefelter's intersex--it's listed on the glossary of intersex variations, and every intersex event I've gone to, I've met people with Klinefelter's there. Because Klinefelter's causes XXY chromosomes and causes traits like gynecomastia, it is considered intersex. The variation of chromosomes and other sex traits is outside of what is typically considered "male" or "female" in the sex binary, so it is an intersex variation.
A lot of doctors don't respect the language the intersex community chooses to use and only want to use medical language. I've met some doctors who strictly say that the only "true" intersex variation is ovotestes with ambiguous genitalia, even though the intersex community includes around 30-40 different variations as intersex. So there really is a disagreement between doctors, who only want to use medical language, and intersex community, who want to be able to build community based on our shared experiences with variations.
You don't have to use language that you're not comfortable with, and there is no pressure to instantly start participating in intersex community or referring to yourself as intersex. But know that you do count as intersex and are welcome in intersex community, and that you are not alone in your experiences.
Please feel free to reach back out with any other questions!

I should be a trans girl but since I have klinefelter’s I think I should troll hard the right wingers and tell them I am a trans man so they could be trying to defend their position that I am, I was and will always be a girl so they will fucking flip the logic outside the garden and into a wormhole in my ass, while I will be living officially as a former girl and now man but transphobes will do gods work and do the exact opposite of what they should be doing
And I’m 1,9m tall so they’ll fucking walk around me and try to figure it out and if they want to attack me so using their logic they shouldn’t attack a girl, right? Right?
I think when they learn I’m a XXY they will literally shoot me for being a freak but who cares now I don’t

In 2021, at Suontaka Vesitorninmäki, Hattula, in Finland, archaeologists discovered the grave of a Viking warrior, the body wearing female clothes, on a soft feather blanket with trinkets, and two swords. They believe that the person had Klinefelter syndrome, giving rise to XXY chromosomes. This had probably been a person respected in their eleventh-century society, wearing women's clothing, fighting as a warrior, perhaps understood to be one of the many sexes on the huge spectrum of sexual identity that was then known but which we have tried to forget.
