28. what area of writing do you want to improve in?

literally anything that isn't dialogue FTHYRTHJFGHYJFYG i can do dialogue all day every day but i really need to get better with like. settings. weaving the description in instead of painting a long word picture in one paragraph. character actions too. i love writing group scenes. group scenes are agony. where are you all standing. is someone holding a mug. where the fuck did i put the bayards. also just like. writing prettier sentences in general. so many fic writers have absolutely banger passages like shit that gets put on pillows on redbubble and i want that.

40. what is your favorite world that you've created for a fic?

oh boy this is an interesting question. several worlds i have now stolen to repurpose for my own original writing. i had fun with the magic and medieval-ish setting of as long as i'm breathing (i'm not leaving) and its sequel. i also had a lot of fun w the shadow people from klance au month 2019 and your eyes, they shine so bright (i want to save that light)

i also had a lot of fun worldbuilding when i was writing deceit so natural, particularly the politics with tarvin and also the bolza system. i wrote the majority of dsn between seasons 2 and 4 and so there was a Lot we didn't know about so i just went balls to the wall on the worldbuilding

55. have you noticed any patterns in your fics? words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

i was literally just thinking about this today but "[x]'s scream tore raw from their throat" comes up a lot. i love making characters resort to their most primal instincts. love to see agony and achillean rage.

i also have been on a blade keith kick lately. i've posted . 2 or 3??? oneshots recently about keith being with the blades and suffering about it, or even just grappling with his abandonment issues and his anger issues and his galra side and his violent streak, and i have at least two more about it on the backburner. in general i think i have somehow ended up writing a lot about anger and grief and abandonment issues. can you tell keith is the primary character i write

at the same time i am also constantly writing established relaitonships. i love a good established relationship. the pining is fun to play with but there's a much larger part of me that finds more enjoyment of writing characters navigating their relationship and its challenges, or just facing an outside challenge and knowing they have each other to lean on.

74. do you have a fic you wish got a bit more love?

OH BOY DO I. look i loved squad up / the rawring 20s but my modern au fics get the LEAST effort from me, i like them the LEAST out of all my fics, but they're the simplest and easiest for people to read so i get why they get more love

there is a lot about deceit so natural that is cringe and that i would go back and change, by virtue of being 17, a mediocre writer at the time, and also there's stuff we didn't know about yet (gay shiro or allura's age, for example), but i had a fucking BLAST writing it. it took me all the way until season 6 to finish it (i started it between s2 and 3) and so any time canon disappointed me i could just go do what i wanted. established klance, an absolutely baller team dynamic if you asked me, lotor being absolutely fucking bonkers. the twists and turns in stars go down were FUN and i think i need to be that mean in my writing again. someone in the comments commended me for actually letting the characters have a horrible time and i think about it constantly

AND RIGHT NOW THERE IS AT SKYFALL, WHICH IS DSN VIBES BUT WITH BROGANES. please i literally have so much planned for this you don't even know. the chapters are dsn length instead of soopits length. i'm going to explore lance's anger. i am going to put keith and shiro through it. adam is so fucking confused bro. PLEASE

Galaxies Colliding in an Infinite Dance

“Keith,” Lance said quietly, risking putting his hand on Keith’s arm. He took a deep breath, composing himself. “You’re going to have to kill me.”

“W-What?” He flinched away from Lance, as if the words had physical slapped him. “Are you…are you fucking kidding me? No.”

“Paladins, your time starts now!”

As the crowd continued to scream louder and louder, neither of them moved. The seconds were ticking by, drawing them closer and closer to the inevitable. Lance knew he wouldn’t, couldn’t, let Keith die, not if he could help it.

With a steadying breath, he lunged.

Keith easily blocked.

“I’m not killing you,” he hissed, something wet in his eyes that Lance refused to look deeper into. “What the fuck, Lance; what are you thinking?”

Striking out again, he gritted out, “You have to.”

“Never,” Keith growled, backing away.

Lance limped forward, loosely brandishing his sword. “Didn’t you hear the speaker? If we don’t cooperate, we both die. You’re not injured, Keith, you can get out of here! You have the Blade. You have a chance…I don’t.”

Keith swallowed, lunging halfheartedly.

“The Blade will be here soon. They know we’re in trouble by now, probably already sent a squadron for us.”

“It took us hours to get here from the Base. They might not get to us in t—”

“The speaker said we have ten dobashes,” Keith interrupted, his voice insistent. “We have time!”

Lance blocked, sweat dripping from his brow.

“You know, I still don’t really know how long that is,” he mused, without humor, mostly to himself.

The fight was barely a fight. Honestly, it was laughable; Lance did better during his first month as a paladin, and he barely knew how to fight then! And yet here he was, a seasoned Paladin, war hero at twenty-year-old and he was heaving, sweating, and aching, barely keeping up with the half-hearted lunges and pulled-back swings.

Keith, on the other hand, wasn’t sweating, wasn’t panting, and his braid was just a smidgen looser than it had been before. The only thing to show that he wasn’t completely alright was the pained expression that still rested on his face. Nonetheless, he could win this; he could win it all. Out of everyone Lance knew in the universe, which was a lot of people, it was Keith, he had no doubt, that could be the Champion, ten—no, a hundred—times over.

There was no way Lance could survive long enough to escape, or be rescued, not if he was actually fighting against a swarm of enemy guards, who wouldn’t be going easy on him.

They lunged and parried for a few minutes in silence. It seemed to be enough for the crowd, since they were still cheering, but neither paladin cared what the crowd thought. Lance’s silence was to let Keith come to terms with what would have to happen while Keith was trying to come up with a plan.

“We’re paladins of Voltron,” Keith said eventually. His voice was strained and there was the slightest tremble in his arm. “We can fight off the guards. We can force our way out of here.”

Lance shook his head, which was a mistake because now he was even dizzier and fighting down another wave of nausea.

“M-Maybe you can, Keith,” he panted out, trying to steady his breathing. “But I can barely fake-fight you right now. I won’t make it. I’ll only slow you down.”

As if to make his point, he accidently put too much weight on his injured leg and his knee gave out. He fell to the ground in a heap of sweat and dust, breath knocked out of him. It took way longer than it should’ve for him to gather his bearings, re-catch his breath, and move his body.

Keith didn’t even try to attack him, the idiot. Instead, he dropped his sword and offered his hand that tremored ever-so-slightly. Lance took it, so maybe he was an idiot too. Keith’s other hand was gripping Lance’s arm tightly, as if he was afraid of what would happen if he let go.

“Lance,” he whispered, barely heard over the crowd’s screams. His eyes locked onto Lance’s, bright and wet and desperate. “Lance, I…”

They were taking too long. They weren’t fighting, they weren’t dying, they weren’t doing anything and the crowd was livid. It was blood they wanted to see spilled on the area’s floor, not tender embraces. Not almost-confessions.

(No, not an almost-confession; it couldn’t have been that...

…but then what had Keith been about to say?)

Feeling a tear falling down his cheeks, Lance brushed away Keith’s bangs and whispered, “Keith, you know this is the only way. Either we both die or you live.”

Inked (Klance drabble)

Hello lovelies, This is a day late but here is a small drabble for Valentine's Day. It is also for the prompt College for Klance AU Month 2019.

I also head cannon that Keith LOVES sweet wine because he has such a big sweet tooth. All those fruity drinks with umbrellas...ya he loves that shit ;)

Keith transferred the ink from the stamp onto the paper, the words Past Due permanently staining it. The tick of the clock could be heard throughout the library. Only one more hour and Keith would be free to go home. He didn’t hate his job, working at the student library at Altea Tech, it was easy, paid well for a student job and it worked well with his schedule. But today was long, early classes plus a late shift.

He also had forgotten it was Valentine’s Day, which didn’t really mean much to him since he never really cared for the holiday. But there was still something a little disappointing in remembering that you’re single in a world surrounded by couples flaunting their love all day.

The cheesy displays of romance had also kept reminding him of his unrequited crush he was harboring for his lab partner in physics. He kept daydreaming of bright blue eyes and an alluring half smile.

Lance had asked if he had plans for the night, Keith telling him about his shift at work and asking in return if Lance had any plans. He responded with, “I have a surprise planned for a certain someone”. And Keith responded with a “Cool”, secretly feeling his heart break a little at the knowledge of Lance dating someone who wasn’t him.

Ugh he couldn’t wait to go home and order a pizza while catching up on Ancient Aliens. Maybe he’ll stop by the store and grab a bottle of his favorite wine, Treat yo self! As Lance would say.

About twenty minutes later he was working on some homework (and occasionally browsing cat videos) when someone clears their throat to get his attention.

Lifting his head up, “Hi, how can I----Lance?!” He kinda squeaked out that last part, Keith hoped Lance didn’t notice that.

“Um-hi. How can I help you?”

“Hey Keith, you look.." Lance glanced around at the total of two students in the study area and smirked, “..busy. You got a minute?”

Keith snorted, “I don’t know,” he said teasingly, “I’m pretty swamped.”

Lance laughed, “I promise not to take too much of your time then.”

Keith smiled and noticed that Lance was hiding something behind his back. “I think I can spare a few minutes. What do you have behind your back?”

A small blush colored Lance’s cheeks and he looked Keith in the eyes, straightening up as he spoke.

“Well, you know how I said I was going to surprise someone tonight..” He brought what he was holding behind his back to the front. A bouquet of beautiful roses in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other.

“Surprissse.” Lance beamed and it’s a good thing Keith was sitting down because he was swooning over the adorable boy in front of him.

“Happy Valentine’s Day Keith. I was hoping we could hang out after you get off work? A-as in a date...with me? Go on a date with me?” Lance was rambling a bit but Keith found it so cute. So cute that he half blurted half yelled “Yes!” as he quickly stood up, attracting the attention of the other two students in the room.

He coughed into his hand and walked around his desk to stand in front of Lance. “What did you have in mind?” He glanced down to the wine bottle in Lance’s hand, “Is that- is that my favorite rosé? How did you know?”

“Well you may have mentioned it once during lab. And I may or may not have written it down for future use.” Lance grinned at Keith as he stared at him in wide eyed awe. “And I found a really cool Area 51 documentary that I think you’d like so I was thinking you could come to my dorm and watch it with me?” Bringing the bottle up for emphasis, ” ..And drink this wine.”

Keith nodded his head, “Yes, I’d love to. I’m off in about thirty minutes.”

“Great! Mind if I hang out with you until then? Don’t want you getting lost on the way to my dorm.” Lance bumped shoulders with Keith and set the flowers and wine down on the desk. He pulled up a chair and sat down. Keith followed and took his seat again.

There was homework strewn all over the desktop and Keith started to clean it up. As he picked up one of his books, a stamp he’d been using earlier fell on the ground. Lance picked it up and read it, smirking to himself.

“Keith give me your hand.” He made a grabby motion and Keith gave it to him. Running his hand along the palm of Keith’s, Lance clutched his fingers and brought the stamp to the top of Keith’s hand. The cold press of ink sent goose bumps up Keith’s arm.

Lance lifted the stamp away and Not for Circulation was inked on Keith’s hand. Keith let out a full belly laugh earning him a few shhhss from the other students.

Pulling Keith’s hand towards him, Lance pressed a kiss above the ink, shooting him a wink afterwards.

Maybe Valentine’s Day wasn’t so bad after all.

This year, the biggest ship I wrote for was Shance (3 fics), with Plance (2) and Klance (2.5) coming in from behind. The k/l ficlet doesn’t count as a full fic.

Character breakdown:

Of the 13 fics, Lance is in the most with 13 (insert surprised pikachu face here), then it goes Shiro (12), Keith (10), Pidge (8), Hunk (7), Allura (6) and Matt Holt (2). Other characters appear only once, such as Coran, Haggar and Kolivan. Technically, the Blue Lion clocks in at 2 mentions. 

Characters that had the main focus:

Lance had the sole POV for 7 of those fics, and shared POVs (in a collaboration) iin 2 additional fics. Shiro had the second most POVs at a total of 3, while Keith had 1 sole POV and 1 shared POV, and Pidge with one shared POV.

Specifics:

Best/worst title?

Best title: the water was dark (and it went down forever), but honestly so many other fics has titles I liked. This title was based off of the Tim Winton short story by the name name, The Water Was Dark And It Went Down Forever, where the main character swims and debatably drowns. So it’s fairly fitting.

Runners up titles include Sweeter Than Honey, to the stars and back, and Lay It Down To Save It.

Worst title: Hairline Fractures. It’s dumb and it makes no sense. It was the first thing that came to mind.

An honourable mention includes Leverage, which would be first if not for the fact that the title inspired the ending, so it’s not too bad.

Best/worst last line?

Best: From the water was dark (and it went down forever):

Blue’s grasp on him was like an endless expanse; an opulent and brilliant ocean. Her waters were dark, and  it went  down forever.

This was definitely my favourite, even though it’s pretty cringe. The way it was formatted in ao3 and the way it related to the title plus the reoccurring symbolism of water made it pretty neat!

Worst: From there ain't no rest for the wicked:

Pidge laughed, and turned her back from the darkness.

I’m sorry. This ending was so cringey. I hate it. There’s nothing else to say except I have no idea how to fix it. Oof.

General questions:

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

tbh, I wrote a lot more, considering I had my final exams this year. Breaching 100k was crazy. 

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?

Honestly? Klance. I’m not the biggest fan of the ship but writing it is very interesting, and I enjoyed it. 

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

Of Claws and Steel hands down! It’s the first fic idea I ever had for VLD,  and the one I really love the most. One day I’d love to write a continuation of it, but the reception of the fic wasn’t great so idk.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

the water was dark (and it went down forever) even though it was started in 2019, was finished this year and is my most popular fic of all time! It’s got 4k+ hits and 450+ kudos. Crazy, since it was only supposed to be a dumb little warm up fic to get me back into writing in preparation for Of Claws and Steel. Alas, turns out people really liked it!

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

Of Claws and Steel. It was the fic I worked the hardest on this year but got the least amount of attention :)

Story that could have been better?

Easily there ain't no rest for the wicked. There was so much plot and so many things I wanted to include but didn't. There’s a lot of things missing and bad plot flow. One day if I got more time, I’d love to write more on it.

Sexiest story?

In The Closet, hands down. It gets a bit steamy with a k/l makeout session. Originally it was going to be a lot saucier but I wasn’t too comfortable in my ability to write it well ahaha. 

Saddest story?

None of my stories were sad, per se. Most of the sad ones were more scary/foreboding rather than actually being sad. I guess to the stars and back right now, because it’s dealing with Lance’s insecurities and Pidge’s desperation to find her brother (and a lot of other things, which will be revealed in the future!)

Most fun?

Sweeter Than Honey! It was fun to write and is my most fun fic. BAMF!Lance and his witty commentary is always a great laugh.

Story with single sweetest moment? 

I can’t choose :,). It’s a three-way tie between Cold Floors and Warm Hearts’s last scene where Shiro realises Lance bought him the necklace, Lay It Down To Save It’s scene that I can’t say because it’s technically unpublished ;), and to the stars and back’s scene where Lance and Pidge talk about what they would like to be in life (ch3).

Hardest story to write?

Probably Of Claws and Steel, as I completely stagnated on the story for a long time. It took me 8 months to write it. Without Rue’s help, I probably would have taken so much longer. Runners up is Leverage, as it took me like a solid week to write 90% of it, and 3 more months to write the remaining 10%. For some reason, parts of that fic were such a pain to write. 

Easiest/most fun story to write?

The easiest was definitely to the stars and back. I could relate to a lot of Lance’s actions and thoughts in the fic, so writing his POV was super easy and rather cathartic ngl. However the most fun was probably Sweeter Than Honey, as it was super self indulgent ahaha.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?

Lay It Down To Save It changed my perception of Keith. I don’t particularly like Keith in canon, but I’ve warmed up to his fanon self and general character after writing from his POV.

Most overdue story?

Of Claws and Steel easily! It was the first VLD fic idea I had but took 8 months to write. Oops? 

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

For the first time I incorporated HTML coding into my fics, which taught me a lot about coding and different ways to convey certain messages and detail things. These codings altered fonts and colours, which you can see in 

What are your fic writing goals for next year?

Write my tua/vld au fic, which will be my first solo multi chapter fic, and hopefully finish it by the end of next year. Also, sticking to a consistent writing schedule and try to write at least 100 words a day, plus finishing TSSAB. I’d also like to finish some more BTHB prompts!

The light of the moon combined with the small fires lit up the field of flowers. They glowed a bright violet. They were all Lance could see as he stared out onto the field where the crash was located.

“McClain! Get your head outt’a ya ass and come get your assignment!”

Lance startled and swung around, “Yes sir!

He joined the group and they started to assign people to search different locations of the field. Their assignments were to search and if they found anything “strange and unusual” to shout and whatever was found would be collected. What they were searching for, they didn’t know, or at least weren’t told. That information seemed to be above Lance’s pay grade.

To be honest, the whole situation could be considered “strange and unusual”, at least to Lance. Fellow airmen reported seeing a “flying disc” streaking across the sky over Roswell then crash landing in a field outside of town. If Lance wasn’t here to personally see the wreckage, than he would have thought they were crazy.

What was it? Why did it crash? Where did it come from? Guess that’s what they were here to find out. Popular theory was that is was a plane from an enemy country, sent to spy on the military but then malfunctioned and went down. Others had more “other worldly” theories, claiming it was martians. He secretly kind of hoped it was the latter. As a kid, War of the Worlds was one of his favorite books and he would make his older brother play “save the world from aliens” with him in the backyard. Interest in the cosmos has been with him since he could read. So finding an alien would definitely make his night.

Lance was assigned to the northwest corner of the field along with a few other soldiers. They fanned out looking at the ground for evidence of anything from the crash. He could see scattered debris spread out across the field, what looked like pieces of the craft glinting silver in the moonlight.

A piece of debris lay just in front of him and he picked it up, strangely enough it felt warm. Almost as if it was giving off its own heat. As Lance touched it, an iridescent shine began to glow from within, highlighting symbols and markings that were etched into the material. He looked around to see if any of his superiors were around but didn’t see anyone near, so he put the piece in his satchel to turn in later.

“Hey McClain.” another Private shuffled up to him. He was younger, just joined if Lance could remember correctly and there was sweat on his brow despite the chill night air. “This is crazy right?” He mumbled while chewing on one of his nails. “I mean..it can’t ACTUALLY be aliens...right?”

“Ahh well,” Lance looked down at his name tag “O’Neal, not really sure right now...but I doubt its--” All of a sudden shouting could be heard across the field. Lance and O’Neal glanced in that direction and could see people running around, wonder what they found.

They weren’t being called back so they continued searching their section of the field, collecting little pieces of debris along the way. The cold night air started to make Lance shiver, it had been a few hours of searching and the adrenaline high from the beginning was long gone. Any residual heat from that no longer keeping Lance warm.

A rock outcropping loomed ahead of him and out of the corner of his eye, Lance thought he saw movement. A quick dart of a shadow, but when he looked there was nothing there. O’Neal had wandered off towards a different section, leaving Lance alone for the moment and a shiver ran up his spine.

Curiosity getting the best of him, he walked over towards the grouping of boulders and started to climb. His satchel bouncing against his back as he went. Halfway up, there was a landing and Lance could see the whole field from this view point. He sat down on the ledge and swung his legs over, taking a little break won’t hurt.

The stars were twinkling brightly tonight, Lance hadn’t glanced upward at all since they started the search for debris on the ground. Ursa major and minor could be spotted easily. Jupiter was also out tonight, beaming its presence across the solar system. The gas giant was always Lance’s favorite planet.

Inhaling the cool night air, he took a deep breathe but as he exhaled an acute pain erupted from the middle of his back. He stiffened and could feel something sharp digging in.

Someone was talking behind him, Lance could hear them but wasn’t understanding anything they were saying. It sounded like gibberish to him. The object at his back was removed and more gibberish spoken, he turned around, raising his hands in a gesture of uncertainty.

There was a man standing behind him, pointing a very sharp looking sword towards his face. Gesturing with his hand, the man made a motion for Lance to stand up. He scrambled up and away from the ledge he was sitting on. Now that he could see the man fully, he was wearing a deep purple bodysuit and what looked to be armor on the top half of his body. A deep gash had torn through his suit and he was bleeding from his thigh. His hair was shoulder length and disheveled. A strong jaw and high cheekbones adorned his face, but what Lance noticed most were his eyes. They were glowing...and violet. Just like the flowers Lance saw in the field at the beginning of the night.

Inhuman, Lance thought.

The man was talking again.

“I’m sorry...I-I don’t understand you.”

The man sighed with what Lance could guess as frustration and tapped something on the side of his collar. Clicks and clucks started pouring out of his mouth that had Lance scrunching his nose and furrowing his brow in confusion. This was worse than the gibberish before.

More taps to his collar….then, “Now can you understand me?”

Lance’s eyes widen in surprise, “Y-yes.”

The sword came closer to Lance’s throat, “Where is my brother? Who are you? Where am I?”

Lance gulped and glanced down at the blade, “I-I don’t know where your brother is.” His mouth was turning dry but he tried his best to answer the remaining questions.

“My name is Lance. And...you’re in Roswell, New Mexico.”

The man narrowed his eyes and looked to be working something over in his mind. He opened his mouth to speak but at the same time O’Neal shouted to Lance from below.

“McClain! You up there?”

Lance instinctively looked behind him, peering as much as he could over the ledge, momentarily forgetting about the blade at his throat.

After realizing his mistake he turned back to the man but….he wasn’t there. He had vanished, Lance didn’t even hear him run off.

“McClain!” O’Neal shouted again.

“Ya! Ya I’m up here!” Lance staggered to the end of the ledge and gave a small wave towards O’Neal.

“What are you doing up there? Come on, we’re being called back.”

“Ok! I-I’ll be down in a sec!”

Lance made it back down to the ground and they started to make their way towards where the others were gathering.

His mind was running a mile a minute, trying to process what just happened.

Man.

Strange clothes.

Sword.

Gibberish.

Blazing violet eyes.

He stumbled a bit as he walked.

“Hey, are you alright?” O’Neal asked.

“Ya, ya I’m ok. Just tripped on a rock.”

“You sure? You look a little pale...did you find something up there?”

Did Lance find something? No, he found SOMEONE. But..something deep in his gut told him not to tell. To keep this..this..BEING a secret. So he replied with,

“No… nothing was up there.”

december ‘19 writing progress & yearly wrap-up 📝

december:

projects worked on:

- galolio fic - chapter 15 of altea rising - worked a little bit on chapter 8 of red skies - worked a tiny bit on the roman holiday au i think? - started planning my piece for @burningheartszine! - also started planning a wangxian fic with @parchmints owo

notes: welp, in terms of word count i didn’t do as well as i wanted to in december, but uh as you can see i was spread a little thin among a bunch of projects haha. most of my focus went towards my galolio fic (it’s at like 20k right now and i’m almoooost near the end...i think....).

i’ve also been trying to work on chapter 15 of altea rising when i can, and i feel terrible because it’s now been over a year since i updated it. but iT’S HAPPENING, I PROMISE. i still have kind of a significant chunk of it left and it’s gonna be really really long (like....basically it’s gonna practically be an entire fic in and of itself hahaha) but. i swear i have not given up on it! 

i got a tiny bit done on chapter 8 of red skies and the roman holiday au, but those have kind of been on the backburner since i’m prioritizing the above fics right now. but hey those are coming along, too. 

annnndd *drumroll* as mentioned above i am super excited to announce i will be a writer for the burning hearts zine (which is a promare/galolio zine)! can’t say much about what i’m writing yet, but i will say i’m super excited to write my piece and i’m collaborating with a very talented artist so i’m really really thrilled. :’’) so yeah keep an eye out for that!

and lastly, jessie and i started planning a wangxian fic we’re going to write together so AAHHH i’m incredibly hyped!! we’re still outlining and throwing ideas around n stuff but....stay tuned cuz i think it’s gonna be DOOOPE!! ;))

“‘til we meet the dawn” (my klance fantasy au) took up....a very very large portion of my writing time/energy in 2019 since it uhh totaled around 75k words and was an extremely challenging fic to write. but in the end it was very much worth it! i’m still so blown away by the way people hyped it up and supported it so much. ;; i really was not anticipating all the love it received and i couldn’t be more grateful for that; i’ve gotten many comments on it that literally had me tearing up because they were so sweet. so yeah, thank you so so much to all of you who have supported it since i first started writing it - it really means the world to me!! 

i’m also quite happy with the shorter standalone fics i published this year and was thrilled to get into two zines!! 

in 2020 i hope to shift my focus back towards my multichap fics since i neglected them quite a lot in 2019 and i miss them a lot. i’m literally on the very last chapter of altea rising and i’m hoping i can get it done soon-ish and i apologize for the extremely long wait....those of you who have been reading it since 2016, you really are the true mvps haha. but i promise i’m working away at it! and once the last chapter is done, i hope to also really dive back into red skies again, since i have so much more planned for it that i’m super excited about!!

i also really hope to get working on the roman holiday au since i’m really fond of that one and have quite a lot of it written. i just...gotta finish it. as for my other kl wips, they’re slightly lower priority but i still do really want to finish them all! 

and of course i hope to also finish my first galolio fic really soon, plus start writing the wangxian fic with jessie! it’s really exciting to be writing for new fandoms and i hope to explore that more in 2020....and who knows, maybe work on some original fiction too! 

2020 goals:

- write every day - write at least 150k words - focus more on my multichaps - finish altea rising - finish a couple of my kl standalone fics?? not sure which ones yet, but yeah! - finish galolio fic  - write burning hearts piece - work on wangxian fic w jessie! - maybe start writing something original??

-What the hell was I on in September and how do I get my hands on it again XD I went fucking insane that month doing Sapphic September twice over + a ship week. YIKES. But also like, NEVER AGAIN, I remember I was so burned out halfway through Kinktober after that and struggled to finish kinktober’s list, then I went offline for a few months and didn’t write for just as long, but also some real life shit was going down so it’s all blurred together XD

-Aaaah, look at all them rarepairs, I do so love my rares!

-Still kinda bummed that S8 killed my VLD buzz cos writing for that fandom was so much fun and I miss it, I was gonna try get back into it this year, but then found out that even previously non-toxic corners of the fandom are toxic now and nope, killed my buzz all over again.

-STILL NO BBC MERLIN?!?!?! omg was 2017 really the last time I wrote for that fandom??????? Also no Star Trek, I really thought 2018 was the year I wrote that but I guess my memory is still shit XD must have been 2017 wow, but at least there’s still new fandoms for when I get around to making a 2017/2016 list XD which will luckily be smaller cos I wrote fewer but longer fics in 2016/2017

-Overall, like 2019, 2018 was a bad year for me in terms of word count. I guess it was the beginning of my health really affecting my ability to write and my shift to accommodate for that by writing shorter things instead of trying and failing to write long fics like I used to (altho actually I think that started in 2017 really, guess I need to make the list to see XD). I’m still pretty proud though, cos I always wanted to write more sapphic content and doing sapphic september was something I didn’t think I’d manage but I did it 2x over =) and then off the heels of that success, I did Femslash Feb for HP in 2019 and some of Sapphic Sept 2019 too

-Kinktober was also super fun, even though I was a big ball of anxiety the whole time and burning out pretty badly after September. But I really got outside of my comfort zone to write several things I not only hadn’t written before, but also don’t even personally like XD I wrote a couple of my squicks and that was an interesting experience. I also gained a few new kinks, also an interesting experience XD
