So, I went looking for a photo of Blaine and struck gold.
Apparently, this is a book from the 90s. I found this German version by chance, maybe there is an English version as well? This version translates to:
Viking Bride â She wants freedom and cannot escape the shackles of passion.
Summary:
Love on the high seas. Lady Braetana longs for her death. Murderous and plundering Vikings have kidnapped her and are sailing with her towards an uncertain fate. She is particularly afraid of the blond Thorgunn, who looks just like the blond marauders who killed her mother. But when the leader of the Vikings pulls her into his strong arms and his lips come close to hers, she feels a strange desire that can no longer be fought.
This has so much potential for a Klaine AU with romance novel author Blaine!
@fallevs I know you will love this!

Memories To Last A Lifetime - Part Two Dialogue under the cut | Masterpost
Kurt: So, you're Blaine?
Blaine: And you must be Kurt.
Kurt: I didn't realise we had a school uniform.
Blaine: We don't. I transferred to McKinley a few days ago and keep putting it on without realising.
Kurt: That's why I didn't recognise your name. I felt awful that I didn't know someone.
Blaine: Don't be. By the way, I hope it's okay that I texted you out of the blue. Sam Evans came up to me and gave me your number.
Kurt: It's fine. I think it's better that we meet on our own terms rather than be forced together without knowing each other. Shall we play a game to get to know each other?
Blaine: I'd like that.

Set of Feathers is complete on AO3!
World-famous figure skater Blaine Anderson loses his costume designer just before the Sochi Olympics. When his manager brings in Kurt Hummel as the replacement, Blaine gets more than brilliant costumes. He also gets another chance at love. A story about falling in love as an adult who's been in serious relationships before, interwoven with themes about preserving your voice and humanity when powerful politicians are trying to fuck everyone over. You know, in case any of you can relate.

The collage is just the ebook cover I made for my Calibre library. Feel free to download it for similar purposes. All photos but the Kurt and Blaine ones are from Unsplash.com. I know the K&B photos look a little young for 30, but older photos of the actors are so obviously the actors and not the characters, I can't bring myself to use them. (another version under the cut because I wasn't happy with the resolution I was able to get on the Blaine screenshot above)

kind of insane au, but seeing darren in acs just made me think how successful blaine could be as a high end escort đââïž. like if things didn't go well... if instead of sending him to Dalton his dad kicked him out of the house. blaine and sam sharing a room in Columbus and then in New York trying to put together enough money to pay the rent, until they get into the right market (old closeted men) and they love him, how much he likes vintage fashion and how talented and pretty he is, how well read and smart, honest and emotional to a fault. blaine keeps falling in love with his clients who can't and don't want to reciprocate, until finally he meets (insert preferred ship partner here) and things start looking up đââïžđ

Ok ok here's my witchy klaine au idea for the spring 2026 fanzine. I've had this au idea for YEARSSS and it's just been rattling around in my head like a the last tictac left in the box lol
Magic is a normal part of life, everyone knows about it, but it's treated similarly to how we treat tradework (welders, electricians, plumbers, etc etc). High society doesn't bother with it, bc they can just pay someone to do magic for them. If you wanna learn magic, you go to magical trade school.
Kurt is in such a school, learning magic, working mostly in potions (skincare, hair treatments, as well as more fantastical stuff like prism hair dye that shimmers like holographic glitter that he's trying to invent). He also works in enchanting textiles. He's in his final year at trade school and so he's an apprentice at a potioneer's lab, working on perfecting his prism hair dye, and he needs ingredients.
Since he's new in the area, his boss (SJP's character, the one that hired Kurt at vogue.com in canon, can't remember her name right now) recommends Anderson Apothecary. So Kurt goes to check it out. Thing is, Kurt HAAATES going to apothecaries, they're always messy and crowded and run by some old fucker making cures for acne out of bird shit or whatever.
So Kurt finds Anderson Apothecary, it's some hole-in-the-wall establishment with an old wooden sign and creaky wooden floorboards. But it isn't a mess inside, everything is labeled and organized alphabetically, it smells like a fresh breeze through a clover field, and there's a HELLA cute guy at the counter grinding up herbs with a mortar and pestle. Aka Blaine lol
Blaine took over the family business bc Cooper took off to LA to be an actor, and Blaine loves working with plants and has always had a knack for it over the spellwork taught at trade schools. The shop has been in the family since like 1800 or something.
Anyway Blaine is happy to help Kurt find the ingredients he needs for his work (regular stuff like rosemary, pine tar, osage bark, arrowroot, etc), as well as suggest some rarer/harder to work with plants to experiment with for his prism hair dye (some fictional flower called Aurora Iris that changes color, snake root, jewelweed) and some minerals/crystals (labradorite, rainbow moonstone, quartz pieces with prismatic fracture inclusions)
Basically Kurt keeps coming back under the pretense of perfecting the recipe for the hair dye, even after he's gotten it to work and only needs to adjust the alchemy of the ingredients and the incantation when mixing them (aka stuff that he can do on his own without the help of an apothecary). Blaine notices of course but humors him bc cute
They get to know each other, start hanging out, doing fun magic stuff together (other than making magic hair dye and skincare Kurt uses magic to fix Blaine's torn jeans, and outside of his apprenticeship he's also really good at charming objects so he charms a little tin bird to sing and gives it to Blaine; Blaine keeps it on his windowsill in his apartment above the shop đ„°)
Blaine isn't as good at actual spells, but he can do a few. He's especially adept at ones that he uses at work; IDing the ingredients used in a potion, or singing to plants to weave magic into them so they produce a particular effect. One that he's been good at since childhood, however, that he is kind of embarrassed about but Kurt loves, is manifesting snow. Like really pretty sparkly soft snow. Obviously it doesn't impress much in the winter and any other time of the year the magic fades and the snow melts before it can build up much. But Kurt just loves it lol.
Blaine also makes talismans with minor enchantments; one that makes you feel slightly warmer (for winter), or cooler (for summer), one that keeps you from getting hungover (results may vary), one that boosts your confidence, etc.
Anyway. Kurt gets his hair dye perfect; it's like a top coat for your hair and makes it shimmer in rainbow colors in the light. It becomes hugely popular, Instagram influencers are desperate for it, and Kurt can't make it fast enough. His boss is thrilled, and Kurt is happy he got his idea off the ground. His boss wants to send him to some distant city where the company has a factory to start production on mass-producing the hair dye, and Kurt is torn. He would need to withdraw from the apprenticeship program he's in with his trade school to do it; he could pick it back up later, but it's never ideal to leave a program like this before finishing. Apprenticeships are hard to come by, and he was very lucky to get this one, and there's no guarantee that he'll be able to get another. Even if he did, it's highly unlikely it would be in this same city (I'm imagining Boston or for some reason, some city with a lot of old infrastructure and businesses still standing).
Obviously he doesn't wanna leave Blaine either, who he's long since fallen for, probably dating at this point. But also, he doesn't want to mass produce. He's never liked mass production of magical products, as there's ethical ambiguity due to working conditions in magic factories and some of the quality of the product will be lost in the process. Blaine tries to convince him to go through with it, as this a huge opportunity.
Eventually Kurt decides not to do it, opting to finish his apprenticeship and continue making the prism hair dye by hand. He sells it out of Blaine's shop. He and Blaine end up living together above the shop.
After graduating trade school and finishing his apprenticeship, Kurt starts his own line of hair and skincare potions, continues selling the now famous prism hair dye, as well as making some new effect hair dyes like glittery ones and color-changing ones. Blaine keeps running the shop, which is now more popular than ever due to Kurt's products, and his talismans.
They live happily ever after THE END :)
Idk if I should write the fic or draw a thing for it, I genuinely do not think my drawing skills are good enough to be in the fanzine so maybe I'll write it.
#klaine fanzine spring 2026#kurt hummel#blaine anderson#klaine#i love modern magic and urban fantasy#this is basically a coffeshop au but with an apothecary instead of a coffeeshop lol#let me know if this is a terrible idea đ

Memories To Last A Lifetime - Part Three Dialogue under cut | Masterpost
Kurt: Seriously! It's bad enough that we have to work on a project on Valentine's Day. But do I really need to be reminded that I'm single everywhere I go?
Blaine: Come on. It's cute.
Kurt: No, puppy dogs are cute. Cats are cute. This is ridiculous.
Blaine: Let's get you away from the display before you break something. Look, just because you are single doesn't mean you can't enjoy Valentine's Day.
Kurt: Really?
Blaine: Yes and I am going to prove it to you. What are you doing this afternoon?
Kurt: Apart from binge watching romantic films with a huge tub of ice cream? Not much. Why?
Blaine: Because we are going ice skating.

Chapter 21: Picture, Again
Figureskating!Blaine/designer!Kurt Olympics AU for december klaine fanworks challenge. Also on AO3.
~~~
Blaine was warming up on the ice. He looked even more stunning as he moved than Kurt had anticipated, the costume highlighting the strength of his thighs, its blue bringing out the glossy blackness of Blaine's hair, the flared openings of the sleeves and ankles fluttering like wings as Blaine flew over the ice.
Sue was standing next to Kurt, scowling. Her hands gripped the railing. âI thought we were on the same page, Porcelain,â she said without looking at Kurt, her eyes fixed on Blaine.
âI know you usually prefer a more fitted sleeve, but I thinkââ
âIâm not talking about the costume. Your eye for design is flawless, as usual.â It didn't sound like a compliment. Sueâs tone was bitter. âBut your behavior isnât. You've gone against our agreement. You told me you'd keep your distance, and then the two of you come waltzing in this afternoon like Torvill and Dean.â
âI didnât say Iâd keep my distance. I said I wouldn't be a problem. And I won't.â
âHa! You're getting him all hot and bothered for you, when what I need him to be hot and bothered for is winning. Cool off.â
âMaybe cooling off isn't what Blaine needs.â Kurt meant it factually, logicallyâa simple expression that people need different things at different times, and sometimes what they need is not what you expect. But the phrase cooling off triggered the thought of heating up, and then the sensation of Blaineâs chest against the back of his thighs, warmth radiating off his skin and into Kurtâs muscles, and the flames of desire spreading from Kurtâs center through his body, leaping from his fingers and toes back into Blaine, flickering up Blaineâs torso and neck and into his face, his eyes clenching with the heat of his orgasm, his muscles stiff, his mouth hanging open from an ecstasy so brilliant it was almost too much to bear, and again that same face this morning, impossibly intense and as clear as a picture, Kurt clinging to Blaineâs hips as he drove into him as deep as their bodies would allow, driven to madness by Blaineâs cries of yes yes I need you, I need your cock, give it to me Kurt, love me with your gorgeous gorgeous cock, oh yes oh yes love me, love me Kurt, love me with your big cock, I love your cock, I love, I love, I loveâ
âYou played with his poodle, didn't you?â Sue wasn't watching Blaine anymore. She was glaring at Kurt, shooting arrows from her eyes.
They bounced off him like raindrops. âI don't know what you mean,â Kurt lied. He was starting to get the hang of Sueâs strange way of speaking. But he refused to acknowledge what was none of her business. âBlaine doesnât have any pets. He travels too much.â Kurt turned back toward the rink, toward Blaine. âSpeaking of distractions, shouldn't you be paying attention to him? He's about to start.â
Blaine was standing in the center of the ice now, the other skaters cleared from the rink. His head was bowed. His chest expanded as he inhaled deeply. He looked up and his eyes met Kurtâs. It was only for a brief moment, but Kurt felt a new kind of energy crackling between them. It wasnât sexualâor if sex was part of it, it wasn't at the forefront. It was a new flavor of connection, an exchange of pride and hope and joy.
âYou're distracting him again, Porcelain.â
Kurt didn't let the smile drop from his face. âYour harassing me is going to distract him. Stop scowling and give him a thumbs up.â
To Kurtâs surprise, she did exactly that as the music started up.
Blaine was beautiful. Of course he was. And it wasn't just Kurtâs hormones talking. It was objectively true. Kurt could see it in the faces of the skaters and coaches on the other side of the rink. He could hear it in the way Sue was breathing. Kurt had seen this routine before, but he'd never seen this level of passion in it. It looked effortless, almost as if it wasn't Blaine moving across the ice and through the air, but like they were the ones carrying him along: a bird catching the updraft.
âGoddammit,â Sue muttered under her breath when the music stopped and Blaine stood triumphantly at the center of the ice, beaming at the two of them. âThat might be the best I've ever seen him.â
Kurt hooted and hollered and clapped as Blaine skated toward them. As soon as his blade covers were on, Blaine kissed Sue on the cheek and tackled Kurt, hugging him so tightly he almost lifted him off the ground.
Kurt watched as Blaine sat down to take his skates off and Sue hovered over him. They were murmuring back and forth in that secret way coaches and athletes have with each other. Kurt watched Blaineâs face for signs of conflict, but he just kept nodding and smilingâgenuinely, his eyes alightâand Sue was smiling too.
~~~
The whispering continued as Kurt accompanied Blaine to the locker room. Kurt wondered if Sue was planning to follow Blaine in, like she often had back at the Olympic Training Center. Kurt wouldnât love that; with Blaineâs meetings this afternoon and the opening ceremonies tonight, this was Kurtâs last chance to be alone with him today. Still, Kurt wasn't going to protest. Blaine was here to win medals, not to be on a honeymoon with Kurt.
Sue slapped Blaineâs back with a parting finality as they approached the locker room. âRemember, we meet in less than an hour with the rest of the team to go over strategy. Be there early.â
Blaine nodded. âOf course, coach.â
âAnd Porcelainââ She caught Kurtâs elbow. ââI need to talk to you for a sec.â
âCan it wait? I need to help Blaine with the costume.â
âItâll only be a minute.â
Kurt looked at Blaine for rescue, but Blaine only noddedâreassuringly, but stillâbefore disappearing into the locker room. Â
âSue, I donât want to fight overââ
âShh, Porcelain.â She pressed her index finger to Kurt's lips. Wow. This woman knew no boundaries. âI've spent the last two years giving Blaine my blood, sweat, and tears, trying to get him back to performing the way he did today. Jeanâmy sisterâshe kept telling me that maybe it was Blaineâs time to retire, that his body was done and could only go downhill. But I knew she was wrong. The problem wasn't physical. It was in his head. I did everything I could to put the fire back in him. You couldnât expect me to just stand by and watch you ruin the tiny bit of progress weâve madeââ
âBut I havenât. You said yourselfââ
âShut up. Iâm not done. Every man Blaine has dated, I have hated down to my core. Well, except for the one that tragically turned out to be straight. He was willing to put up with the kind of sacrifices an exceptionally talented person needs to make in order to succeed. He understood that, ultimately, there was only one person who could define Blaineâs purpose in the world.â
Kurt nodded in understanding. âBlaine himself.â
âNo. Me. Sue Sylvester. Thatâs what made the others such losers. They didn't get that Blaine was put on this earth to obliterate the competition. And they made Blaine forget it, too. So you'll understand if I wasnât happy with your blossoming romance. I'm used to him falling for guys who care more about what they want out of Blaine than what he was born to do. Who suck the life and creativity out of him. But youâre not like the others. If you were, he wouldn't have skated the way he did today. You, Porcelain, are not a leech.â Her voice was never gentle, but on this last sentence, it became more gentle than Kurt had ever imagined it could be. She set her hand on Kurtâs shoulder the same way she did when congratulating Blaine on a good job.
âI don't know how you did it,â she continued. âWhether it was your costumes or your ethereal good looks or biting charm or your penis. But whatever it was, you reminded Blaine of who he is. His fire is back. I envy your power.â
âIt wasnât myââ No. Kurt was not going to legitimize her mentioning his penis by repeating the word. âThose feelings have always been inside of him. I didn't create that.â
âOf course you didn't. I did. But heâd buried them deep enough that I couldn't pull them to the surface anymore.â
Obviously, Sue was deluded in thinking sheâd created Blaineâs sense of self. But in terms of his skating, she had done something just as important. âYouâre the one whoâs kept him going all these years, Sue. You pushed him to get better even when he didnât care. He told me. And there's no way I could do that. If he looked at me with those sad puppy dog eyes and told me he didn't feel like doing something, Iâd surrender in a split second.â
Sue shook her head. âThat much is apparent. Even my threatening you with a kitty cat failed to fortify you against the power of those amber orbs. Good thing I'm immune to emotion.â
âI still don't understand how the kitty cat thing is a threat.â
Sue looked Kurt up and down, her eyebrows scrunching together as if she were trying to assess his sincerity. âReally? You don't seem like someone who would be that slow on the uptake.â
âReally.â
She leaned in and lowered her voice, as if sharing a powerful secret that could be misused in the wrong hands. âPorcelain, you're obviously someone who likes to be in control. But you can't be in control with a kitty cat. The kitty cat controls you.â
~~~
âWhat did Sue want to talk to you about?â Blaine asked when Kurt found him in a secluded corner of the locker room, the closest human off in the showers singing âPart of Your Worldâ from The Little Mermaid in a language that sounded like German, still far away enough that Kurt only caught half the tune. Blaine turned so Kurt could unfasten the zipper hidden in a back seam.
âYou don't know?â
âNot really. I mean, I figured she wasn't going to eat you alive, or I wouldn't have left you out there alone. But she didn't tell me what she was going to say.â
âShe didn't eat me alive. I think she gave us her blessing?â
Blaineâs eyes lit up. âReally?â
âWell, she said I'm not a leech, and I havenât gotten in your way. Those are compliments coming from her, right?â
âGlowing ones.â
âAnd she seems to think Iâve helped you get your fire back.â
âYou have.â Blaineâs voice was soft and full of conviction. He blinked, his mascara-heavy eyelashes fluttering pleasantly as he peeled off the top of the suit, revealing his broad shoulders and the various bundles of back muscles that were merely an undifferentiated mass in most people. âIn more ways than one.â
Kurt wanted to plant a line of kisses from Blaineâs eyelids to his neck and across that beautiful back. But this wasn't the place for it. Instead, he held a sleeve in place so Blaine could wriggle his elbow free. âI can't take that credit. I'm glad to be of service, of course, but the talent and the vision and the work you've put inâthat's all you, Blaine.â
Blaine met Kurtâs eyes. His own were filled with steady conviction. âMaybe both things are true. Maybe it all comes from inside of me, and maybe knowing you helps me express it. Maybe the sum of us is greater than its parts.â
Kurt's heart swooped. Seriously. How had Blaine ever thought he was bad at romance?
Kurt's body buzzed with it, urging him to curl his hands around Blaineâs jaw and press him against the locker with his kisses, convey them both back to the deep intimacy they had known in his hotel room.
Instead, Kurt sank to his knees to begin gently peeling the costume further away, uncovering the tops of Blaineâs statuesque buttocks. It didn't lessen his desire, but it gave him something else to do with his hands.
âShe said something to me, too,â Blaine said. âShe likes you.â
Kurt scoffed. âI think that's going a bit far.â
âNo, really. I mean, those weren't the words she used, of course, because she's Sue. But she does.â
âWhat exactly did she say?â Kurt wasn't sure he actually wanted to know, but he needed something to distract him from the incredible muscularity of Blaineâs glutes and thighs and the memory they evoked of their intimacy this morning, when those muscles squeezed around Kurt as Blaine rode him, murmuring praise to Kurt and his cock, wringing unimaginable pleasure from both their bodies.
âUm ⊠I'm not sure me repeating the words would be helpful. A lot of what Sue says gets lost in translation.â
âYou realize that saying that only makes me want to know even more.â
âOkay, butââ Blaine rested his hand on Kurtâs shoulder for balance as he stepped out of the costume, leaving him a naked Adonis except for the dance belt covering his genitals and splitting his buttocks into two perfectly risen buns. ââit's going to sound crass. But for Sue, it's a ringing endorsement.â
âYouâre not getting out of this.â
âFine.â Blaine grabbed a towel and modestly wrapped it around his waist before removing his dance belt, a courtesy that felt simultaneously merciful and cruel to Kurt. âShe said she knew we were âmaking the beast with two backsâ but she wouldn't hold it against us if I kept performing like that.â
âWow. Ringing.â
âIt's a lot better than what she said back in Colorado Springs.â
âAnd what was that?â
âNothing bad about you. Just more ridiculous. She was worried about us getting together before the Olympics because your testosterone might show up on my doping tests and get me in trouble.â Blaine giggled and rolled his eyes. Kurt was used to people who rolled their eyes having disgusted expressions on their face, or at least disapproving ones. But Blaineâs expression looked almost fond.
âWhat? That doesn't make sense.â
âNope. But apparently she thinks semen is an illicit testosterone-containing substance and the testosterone somehow enters the bloodstream?â
Kurt burst out laughing. âAh! So that's the real reason the Olympic Committee hands out condoms.â
âApparently. I honestly think that was her main concern about us. Well, that and she thought you were the reason I forgot about that meeting on your last day there, even though I explained to her it was the stress of âŠâ Blaine hesitated. âOf all the media interviews that day. Otherwise, I think sheâs liked you from the start. You're the only guy Iâve dated sheâs called handsome, unless you count Jesse. And all her nicknames for you are based on her favorite fictional characters and celebrity crushes.â
âWhich one of those is the Pillsbury Doughboy?â
Blaine shrugged. He looked so comfortable, standing there in nothing but his skin and a tiny towel and sweat-damp swirls of dark hair across his chest and trailing down his limbs while Kurt was covered neck to toe in textiles. âNot sure, but she and her sister have been collecting the figurines since they were little. They have a case full of Pillsbury Doughboy collectibles in their house right next to the trophy case.â
âThat ⊠is not something I would have guessed.â Kurt looked down at the costume, paying attention to the way he was folding it as much to distract himself from Blaineâs gorgeous body as to protect the fabric from damage.
âShe's often mentioned his stunning blue eyes. Maybe that's why you remind her of him.â
âAnd here I thought it was because I was pasty.â
âYou're not pasty. Youâre âŠâ Blaine traced a finger along Kurtâs jaw, coaxing Kurt to look away from the costume and into Blaineâs beautiful brown eyes. âAlabaster and coral.â
âYou're not allowed to flatter me when youâre naked except for a towel around your waist and thereâs nothing I can do about it because weâre in a semi-public locker room.â
âI wish we werenât, though. I could go for an encore of this morning. Iâm going to miss you so much tonight.â
Kurt glanced over his shoulder before pressing a quick kiss to Blaineâs lips. âWhen the competition is over, we can shut ourselves in a hotel room for a week and do nothing but that.â
Blaine smiled. âSounds better than a gold.â
~~~
Kurt loved a spectacle, so the opening ceremonies were right up his alley: floating landscapes, a flying girl, a choir of hundreds of singers in traditional garb ascending from the clouds. Kurt tucked his opera glasses back into his coat pocket and snatched the binoculars from Sebastianâs lap. He needed something more powerful to pick out the details of the singersâ costumes. Each was made of white fabric with gold trim, but every single one was differentâdifferent hats and headgear, different cuts and lengths, some with bibs or aprons and others without, each decorated in elaborate patterns sewn by hand. The costume budget must have been massive.
Kurt would have been enjoying himself even more if Blaine were there, explaining what the heck the floating armada and flying volcano had been about. Kurt knew little about Russian history beyond what heâd learned when costuming for Chekhovâs Three Sisters and studying Soviet realism in design school. For each cultural reference that confused him, he knew there were dozens more he wasn't even noticing.
âDo you understand any of this?â Kurt asked.
Sebastian looked up from his phone. He had been glued to it since before the start of the ceremony. That was the life of a manager, Kurt supposedâalways on the phone, texting and sending emails, arranging appearances and interviews and lunches and who knew what else. It was getting close to midnight in Sochi, but it was still prime working hours in the United States.
âThe Russian landmass is fifty percent permafrost,â Sebastian said. âI think that's what the snow is about.â
âVery helpful,â Kurt said.
When Putin got up to speak, Kurt took the opportunity to check his vibrating cell phone. It was Blaine, who was waiting somewhere in the wings of the stadium and apparently had no interest in paying attention to Putin either. I can't wait until you see our uniforms. They will astonish you.
In a good way or a bad way?
Youâll find out!
Blaine was right. The outfits did astonish Kurtâwith their hideousness. Ralph Lauren had been going down the tubes for a while, but this was abominable: saggy white athletic pants; a sweater covered with so many letters, numbers, flags, and logos it looked like a race car; and knit caps whose only saving grace was their size prevented the same excess of symbols that plagued the sweaters.
âAre you going to give me back my binoculars?â asked Sebastian.
âNope. Iâm trying to find my boyfriend,â Kurt said, not lowering the binoculars from his face as he reached into his pocket to retrieve the opera glasses and hand them to Sebastian. âYou snooze, you lose.â
âI'm not sure why I thought Blaineâs influence would turn you into a nicer person.â
âIt hasn't turned you into a nicer person, has it?â
âNo. But I'm not sleeping with him.â
âOh! There he is! Next to the giant!â
Blaine was cute as ever despite the abominable uniform, waving out to the crowd with a huge smile on his face as he walked between an equally bubbly Sam to his right and, to his left, Mike Chang with a ponytailed Kitty Wilde on his shoulders. She was holding her smartphone up to record the crowd, panning up and down the rows of seats, when she suddenly stopped, lowered her phone, and waved vigorously at Kurt and Sebastian before leaning over to pat the top of Blaineâs head and point him in their direction. He found them and his smile got even wider. He balanced on his toes and waved energetically.
âThere's something wrong with these opera glasses. It looks like Blaine is having some sort of fit.â
âHe's waving, dumbass.â
âAnd now he's blowing kisses! Letâs hope Putin doesn't arrest him for that.â
âSeriously, Sebastian. Do you have to ruin everything?â
âYeah, sorry, that was ⊠not funny. I only said it because I don't think there's any risk of him getting arrested for that. Does that make it any better?â
Kurt ignored Sebastian and watched Blaine turn the corner of the track. Blaine's back was to him now, but Kurt could catch the side of his face when he turned to the side with more waving and kiss-blowing.
âOoh, Kurt,â Sebastian hissed dramatically. âYou might want to look away. Heâs blowing kisses to Billie Jean King now. Do you think heâs turned straight? Ow, the betrayal.â
âOh no, a figure skater blowing kisses to members of the general public,â Kurt deadpanned. âTotally slutty and out of character. I'm devastated.â
Sebastian chuckled. But when Kurt turned to look at him, he saw that Sebastian was not laughing over what Kurt had said. He was looking at his phone again, grinning like the Cheshire cat as he thumbed a message into the screen.
~~~
Sebastian's texting went on through the entire opening ceremonies. Kurt loved his phone as much as the next person, but he was at least trying to enjoy the show. Besides, it wasn't like he could be constantly texting Blaine. It would look bad if, every time a rogue television camera landed on the section of the stadium holding the members of Team USA, Blaine was staring at his phone screen like a bored teenager. Meanwhile, Sebastian was thumbing something into his phone every five minutes. There was no way it was all work, because at least half the time, it was accompanied by the kind of giggling Kurt associated with chatting about celebrity crushes with Rachel and Mercedes in high school.
âI don't understand why you wanted to go to the opening ceremonies at all if you're going to spend the whole time on your phone,â Kurt said on the way back to their hotel. It was a rental car, and Sebastian was driving.
âI wasn't planning to be on my phone the whole time. It just ⊠happened.â
âWork emergency?â Kurt knew that wasn't the answer, but sometimes guessing the wrong thing was the best way to get Sebastian to tell you the truth. Wrong impressions were like pebbles in Sebastianâs shoes. He had to get rid of them or they would drive him crazy.
âNo.â Sebastian chewed on his bottom lip. âI ⊠Okay, if I tell you, you have to promise not to be super gay about it. Because I'm driving, and that would be distracting.â
âWhat do you mean by âsuper gayâ?â
âYou know. Dramatic. Shrieking like a little girl.â
âOh, Sebastian. Do we have to have another talk about internalized homophobia?â
âJust promise, okay?â
âI promise not to shriek like a little girl. I don't promise to not be super gay though.â
âWhatever. I ⊠I met someone.â
Kurt inhaled sharply. He kind of wanted to shriek, or at least yell What? extremely loudly. But he had made a promise. âWhen? Wasn't it like, a week or two ago when you were crying in my hotel room aboutââ
âI thought we agreed to never mention that again.â
âYou said not to mention it to other people, not you.â
âFine. And yes, since then. Yesterday, to be exact. Or maybe this morning, if you want to be technical about it?â
âYou met him last night and you already want to have kids with him?â
âI didn't say that! I just said ... I met someone. Who is interesting and that I actually like to talk to even when we're done fucking. I mean, usually after I have sex with someone I'm through with them, at least until the next time I want to have sexââ
âAnd you wonder why I never slept with you.â
ââbut this guy ⊠I wasnât hurrying to leave the room. And it wasnât just because you and Blaine were doing God knows what in our suite. It was ⊠I don't know how to describe it. Like, the noise that's usually crowding my head was gone. I wasn't thinking about work or the things I would need to do today or going through a point-by-point postgame breakdown to compare him to my previous fucks or glean learning points for my arsenal of future sex strategies.â
âWere you high?â
âNo! I wasn't high! I don't do drugs when I'm traveling in authoritarian states.â
âJust thought I'd check.â
âAnd he kept looking at my face, and I admit, I do have a great looking face, but usually it's weird to look at each other's faces too much when you're having sexââ
âIt is?â
ââbut it didnât feel weird. Which was weird in itself. It was weird and it should have been a total turn offââ
âReally?â
ââbut it just felt ... what's the word?â
âGood?â
âSomething like that. So I ⊠I stayed. And I fell asleep. And when I woke up he asked if I wanted to have breakfast, and I ⊠I said yes. I've never said yes to breakfast. And I went back to our suite to change, which gave me the perfect opportunity to stand him up, but did I stand him up? No. Because I ⊠I wanted to talk to him. How crazy is that?â
âFor you? It sounds pretty crazy.â Since Kurt had met Sebastian half a lifetime ago, he had come to rely on the fact that, no matter how many months or years passed between them seeing each other, Sebastian never changed. Now, suddenly, Sebastian was changing. Kurt wasn't sure what to do with that. âSo, are you going to tell me anything about this guy? What makes him so magical?â
âNo. I don't want to curse it. Not that there's much to curse. I mean, I've known him for less than twenty-four hours. And he lives on this side of the pond. I'll be lucky if this lasts the full two weeks of the games.â
âStill, that's new for you, wanting something to last even that long. You're a different man than the one I thought you were, Sebastian Smythe.â
âThat goes for both of us.â
Word Count: 2030
AU: Angel/Demon AU
fic can be read under the cut <3
There were a lot of things that turned out to be just as unpleasant about falling, not including the actual falling part.
For one, he was weaker than he used to be. He did suspect that would happen, but it still hurt his ego a bit. He used to have so much power that he often didnât even know what all to do with it. Not that he really could do much with it anyway; the big men upstairs never allowed much fun to be had. More time was spent existing as a militant entity than was spent actually basking in the alleged splendor that was heaven.
If given the option between going back to that or experiencing the pain of falling all over again, Kurt would choose to fall every damn day.
Besides, angels donât get to play with humans like theyâre Barbie dolls. And thatâs way more fun.
The man before him, unsuspecting and ignorant, saw Kurt at a bar and thought heâd be an easy target. Kurt knew he perfectly looked the part of a young man getting his first drink at a bar as a twenty-one year old. Aging was such an earthly concept and Kurt was not burdened with it. But to an older man, the illusion of wide-eyed innocence was all too compelling.
Kurt claimed he âknew a spotâ, which was just as clichĂ© as it sounded, but it was effective nonetheless. Apparently intelligence didnât always come with age.
It wasnât long after he got the man to the abandoned storage facility that he knew something was terribly, terribly wrong. Not soon enough, though, for Kurt had already made quick work of knocking the man out and handcuffing him to a chair. When he came to once more, it was in a fit of panic.
âLook, I didnât sign up for this kind of crazy! So just let me go, okay?â The man pleaded with Kurt and it was charming if nothing else. Kurt leaned over him, one knee braced against the chair in a way that could be seen as provocative in any other circumstance.
âWhat, am I too old for you?â Kurt asked in a mocking whine. âI swear, Iâm only twenty, maybe thirty centuries old!â
âWhatever game youâre playing here, kid, Iâm not interested so just let me-â
âLet him go, Kurt,â a voice spoke up behind him. Kurt grinned as he straightened up. Of course he would show up. It was impossible for him to stay away. He made a bit of a show of turning around to face the new arrival â his favorite little angel.
He turned towards the voice, maintaining his flirty tone. âJust canât stay away from me, can you?â
âYou could say that,â Blaine replied and thatâs when Kurt saw it â the glint of a blade held discreetly in his palm. He recognized the weapon, as it was a piece from Heavenâs arsenal. See, a regular knife couldnât kill Kurt.
But that one could.
Kurtâs grin dropped as he backed away from the man strapped to the chair, and subsequently also away from Blaine. âWhat do you think youâre doing with that?â
âYou attract too much attention to yourself.â
âWell, I canât help but pull focus,â Kurt responded in a rather clipped manner. The man in the chair began to panic even more upon being approached by Blaine.
âListen, man,â the guy began quickly, âyou donât need to kill him or anything! Just let me go and Iâll be on my way!â
Blaineâs eyes flickered down to the stranger, eerily calm. âYou donât need to see this,â he said simply and before the man could even begin to reply, Blaine rested his palm to his forehead, immediately knocking him out. Putting a human to sleep rather than killing them; that was so painfully just like Blaine to do.
âWhy do you have that thing?â Kurt interrogated the second that the man was unconscious.
Blaine turned the knife a bit in his hand as if observing it. âCome on, Kurt, you know exactly what this is.â
Kurt maintained a semi-safe distance. âWhy do you need that thing to kill me? Youâve never needed that for a demon before.â It was true. Blaine could take down a demon easily. It made them cruelly unmatched. Blaine had never threatened to kill him before, but it would be undoubtedly easy for him to do so should he want to. For Blaine, a demon is an easy target. He was an easy target.
UnlessâŠ
Kurtâs grin returned. âYou canât kill me, can you?â He asked coyly.
Blaine remained serious, but Kurt could see a crack in his expression letting on that he was nervous. Kurt seemed to always have that effect on him. âNot at my rank, no,â he said simply, but Kurt knew what he meant. He wasnât strong enough to take out Kurt. An ordinary demon, heâd have no problem. But as luck would have it, Kurt wasnât an ordinary demon.
Kurt took a risk. He moved a few steps towards Blaine and the weapon he possessed. âYouâre not going to kill me.â
âI could.â
A few more steps. âBut you wonât.â
âI might.â
âBut you wonât.â Kurt was directly in front of him now. He knew it was a dangerous game, but he had a point to prove. âBecause if you were going to, you wouldâve done it already. So tell me angel, was this a direct order from one of your bossmen, or are you just simply that obsessed with me?â
âDonât push your luck, Kurt,â Blaine spoke, gravely serious.
âOr what?â Kurt challenged. He could feel Blaineâs steady breaths from just how close they were. Blaineâs gaze met his evenly. âIf youâre going to kill me, then do it. Iâm wide open.â Kurt tilted his head a fraction, his eyes alight with the rush that comes with toying with Blaine. His tone shifted into something devilishly flirtatious as he spoke again. âSo, yâknow, take me, Iâm yours and all that.â
It was then that Blaine sprung into action. With quick work, he managed to securely grip onto the collar of Kurtâs shirt, using his strength over the other to force Kurt backwards. There was a time where Kurt may have been stronger than him. But Kurt gave all that up, and he still refused to regret it.
That didnât mean he loved Blaine constantly using that fact against him.
Blaine got him against a wall with one particularly rough push. Kurt felt the brittle wall crack slightly behind him. Fuck, Blaine was strong.
Blaine was strong.
Once Blaine has Kurt pinned defenseless against the wall, he brings the blade down. Kurt doesnât know whether it was thanks to adrenaline, or his own sense of speed in the face of self-preservation, but he reached up and circled his fingers around Blaineâs wrist before he could manage to connect the weapon.
The blade stilled, suspended in the air between them. Kurt imagined the scene was almost picturesque in a way â him pressed between Blaineâs firm body and the unforgiving wall, his long fingers locked around Blaineâs wrist. Angel and demon. Lovers. Enemies.
Blaine really was going to kill him.
Their shared breathing revealed the exhaustion that their overexertion had caused. Kurt knew, given his current position, he was fully at Blaineâs mercy. The mercy of an angel who just tried to kill him.
That gave Kurt little other choice. Slowly, he tugged at Blaineâs wrist until the blade was sitting just above his throat. He leveled Blaine with a steely look, deathly serious. âWell, go ahead, angel. Do what you gotta do.â
âI donât want to kill you, Kurt,â Blaine clarified, but didnât pull the blade away.
âCouldâve fooled me,â he bit out before he could even think to check his tone. This was, in large part, his own doing. He opened the door for Blaine to corner him, he really had no right to be upset about it actually occurring. Even in his current position, Kurt couldnât refrain from looking down his nose at Blaine, hoping to properly demonstrate his distaste from his present circumstances. âIâm guessing you got assigned a job from one of the big men upstairs?â
âYouâre lucky that itâs me and not someone else.â
âOh yeah, I sure feel lucky.â Kurtâs fingers twitched around Blaineâs wrist as he continued to hold the blade close to Kurtâs throat. But hasnât pressed in yet, and Kurt cannot fathom why. He has the perfect opportunity. Kurt is basically giving him a free pass, so why isnât he going for it? âWell?â
Blaineâs grip on the weapon slacked just a bit. âNothing is ever easy with you.â
âSo why donât you take care of the problem?â
Blaine said nothing, did nothing. He only stood and continued to watch Kurt in silence, and Kurt could practically see the flurry of thoughts swirl around in Blaineâs head. Kurt almost felt bad for the guy; he knew that he didnât make Blaineâs job simple, and admittedly, does very little to combat that fact.
Eventually, though, Blaine shakes his head. âYouâre right. I wonât do it.â
The sound of the metal blade clattering to the ground reverberated discordantly off the walls of the warehouse.
Kurt took no time to ponder Blaineâs decision to spare him. Instead, he kicked the weapon away from the two of them and then, in quick succession, flipped their two positions. Blaine didnât put up any fight with being pushed up against the wall himself. He could break free if he really wanted to. He chose not to.
âDo you still love me, Blaine?â Kurt asked, not ready for the words to fall from his mouth before they did.
âAre demons even capable of love?â
Kurt wasnât sure. Maybe demons who never experienced love arenât. Love is formed from soul, grace, and humanity, of which demons have none.
But Kurt wasnât always a demon, and he still didnât really fit the mold of one. Fallen angels are different from regular demons. They still possess morality, at least to some extent. It was just like Kurt to never really fit in anywhere.
âDo you? Still love me?â
Honey colored eyes gazed at Kurt with something akin to sympathy, which would burn his blood if it werenât for the fact that he so desperately needed a response.
Blaine nodded.
Kurt kissed him. He didnât even hesitate. With Blaine pinned up against the wall, it was easy for him to leverage a searing, bruising kiss against soft lips. Blaine always tasted the same, like coffee, â such an earthly pleasure that he achieved no benefit from and only chose to indulge for its luxury â and something else a touch more divine. Kurt couldnât quite pinpoint it, but it tasted vaguely familiar from the holy kingdom that he was no longer welcome to.
Kurt pulled away with a sigh. Blaine panted quietly, a faintly pink blush forming under tanned skin. Kurt was right about one thing, Blaine was an angel â in every sense of the word.
âI donât suppose I can convince you to disappear for your own safety?â Blaine eventually asked.
Kurt smiled. âNot a chance in hell.â
Blaine nodded in understanding, as if he already anticipated Kurtâs response. âYou always were stubborn to a fault.â
Blaine wasnât wrong. And as much as he would love to stand here with Blaine forever, it wasnât wise to hang around angels for too long â even if the angel in question was Blaine.
He finally stepped away from Blaine, allowing the man some space. Kurt glanced over to the man tied to the chair. He had forgotten that guy was here. He was simply a means to an end, afterall.
âYou may want to wipe that guyâs mind, angel. Or else heâs going to be a real problem when he wakes up.â
Kurt headed towards the exit of the building, but not before Blaine called out to him. âSuddenly not so keen on sticking around?â
Kurt grinned, if not mostly to himself. âOh, donât worry, youâll find me again. And who knows? Maybe youâll actually have it in you to kill me next time.â
