(Apologies for the delayed answer. At some point I wills stop partially answering things and then saving them to my drafts, to be lost for ages.)

Sidenote that the only reason that this one does not look A Lot like Impulse and Gem's swap is because Bdubs is the character type of "Doesn't Notice Things When Its Funnier For Him To Not" So he Has Not Noticed that Etho Is an arctic fox the same way that Gem Is a deer.

Bdubs is bouncier than normal, is the main thing Etho notices. He's running around the interior of his starter base, gathering blankets and pillows and snacks with a clear purpose behind it. He is extremely focused, as Bdubs tends to be, and so far the answer to "how much of the floor can Etho turn into moss before Bdubs snaps out of his tunnel vision enough to notice it" is "all of the kitchen and creeping into the hall."

He keeps waiting. For Bdubs to round on him with demands and questions about everything else. About the touch of the void that Etho feels cold without, now that it is gone. About the stars of eternity and the great, vast emptiness, with only the distant light of Others Like Him.

But it never comes, just bounces and squeaks and indignant Bdubs shouting once he finally realizes the moss creeping up the wall of the entryway.

It's nice.

As someone who made bad dsmp fanfic (now that ive matured as a writer i can see it objectively) taht still gets kudos and sometimes comments: everyone pls do write bad fanfic

And when you realize and look bad and think "man thays cringe ugh" dont delete it!!! Never delete it please it can make someones day so much, so many people would be sad if you did! And yeah i agree on the objectively bad fanfics in the fandom, our heart is more in art and crafts and music and cosplay

yes!!!!! yes!!! obv authors should have the final word on their own work but it hate it sm when people feel like they have to delete their old stuff bc its cringe. the cringe is crucial. the cringe matters to someone.

and yeah 100%. dsmp fanfic may be lackluster but the fanart has never once failed to deliver. idek where it comes from. its like magic. no other fandom ive been in so far has had art (and music, and cosplay, and) at the same quantity and quality. its like we maxed out art stats so fic took the fall
